Chapter Sixteen: Another Lifetime (Jason's POV)
I carried Laney on my back to the Tower once he finally calmed down enough to go to sleep, and I tried to use the retinal scan. I knew it wouldn't work. I just wanted to alert them without making a lot of noise. "Who the hell are you?" a voice snapped over the intercom. "Can I talk to Donna?" I asked. "Donna hasn't been here in a long time," the girl's voice answered, "Wanna try again?" "Can I talk—?" "Whoa! I'll be right down!" a familiar voice exclaimed. A demon burst through the door, and I would've been frightened had I not recognized the face. "Kid Devil?" I asked. Laney stirred and jolted awake at the sight of him. "You're dead... You were dead. You look too alive to be a zombie," Kid Devil replied. Laney got off of my back and took our bags. Kid Devil hugged me, and I hugged him back. "Who's your friend?" "I could ask him the same—." I elbowed Laney to quiet him down. "I'm Eddie. Kid Devil. We used to be penpals," Eddie introduced himself. Laney shook his hand. "Eddie, this is Laney. I met him in the afterlife," I introduced. Eddie let us in, and we were met by a less-than-thrilled Robin and a new Wondergirl. "You can't just let—. You're supposed to be dead," Tim whispered in shock. I nodded. "Can I talk to you in private?" I asked. Tim nodded, and Laney stood still. I took Laney's hand and dragged him along. "Lane, don't be like that. You know you're my best friend," I comforted him. He squeezed my hand. Tim led us into his room, and he shut the door behind us. "You're dead, right?" Tim asked. "I was dead... But now I'm not. Tim, listen. I can explain most of this. I just need you to let us stay here, and I need to talk to Raven," I whispered. Laney let go of my hand. "We do need to see her. I just want to make sure I didn't do something terrible to you on accident." Tim offered us a seat. "You used my name in front of him, so I guess this is someone you trust. How did you—?"
I started explaining things as we sat down on Tim's bed, and Laney yawned. He was up all night, so I wasn't shocked that he fell asleep. As I talked to Tim about everything that led us there, he seemed to take mental note of everything. After I was done, Tim asked us to stay put in his room, and Tim left us there. I lay down next to Laney, and he curled up next to me. "Can I keep you?" Laney whispered. I chuckled and nudged him. "What?" "You were talking in your sleep," I whispered. Laney took my hand and placed it over his eyes. "Can I keep you?" "You said that to me once. I don't know what it means, but—. When all of this is over, can we do one thing?" Laney asked. I nodded. "Can we go dancing?" I turned and looked at him. "We can go after we talk to Raven. Dance the whole night... Just you and me," I promised him.
"Jason, I have another question. What did you mean about Constantine's book having your name on it?" Laney questioned. "It did. My name was on the spine of the book... So I took it. I've been scared to touch it ever since I found out that the spells work," I confessed, "And I don't know, what if—? What if I have powers now? Or what if I'm some weird immortal meta or—?" "Then we'll figure that out together. We've done everything together so far. No reason to separate now," Laney whispered. I let Laney go back to sleep, and I took some time to look around. Once I found a quiet place to sit, I started meditating. I let my mind drift, and my anger bubbled to the surface. It burned inside me as I pictured my death happening several times over. My throat tightened, and I clenched my fists. Once the feeling of rage subsided, I felt something change in me. I didn't want revenge anymore. Not really. I just wanted to cry. I wanted to cry it all out. "Jason?" a voice penetrated the silence. I opened my eyes and looked Talia in the face. "Jason, how are you—?" "I don't—. I don't know. Did you know your father visited me last night?" I asked. I felt lightheaded, but I needed to know if Talia knew Ra's visited me. "He found you?" Talia asked. I nodded. "I hadn't heard anything about it. Did he say anything to you?" "No. I—. I owe you, though, don't I?" I asked. It never occurred to me how much Talia risked to help me. She never asked me for anything. "Jason... You don't owe me anything. Are you okay?" Talia asked. She reached to touch my forehead, and I shied away when her hand went through me. "How are you here?" "I don't know... I think I've been—." I stood up in the rec room in the Tower and immediately passed out. I don't remember much until I woke up in their infirmary. Tim took my vitals, and I grabbed his wrist. "Jason—." "I was here the whole time?" I asked. Tim nodded. "How long's it been since we talked?" "Maybe three hours... But you've only been in the infirmary for a few minutes. You should eat something," Tim whispered. I took a good look at him and smiled. He was just a kid like I was. "What?" "I like what you've done with the costume," I complimented. Tim chuckled. "Thermal lining?" Tim stood up straight for a moment before releasing a breath. "Jason, did you ask for me because—?" "We're family now, right?" I asked. Tim nodded. "So I can be honest... I wanted to meet the person I was jealous of. When I found out about you, I wanted to hate you... But my friend is my voice of reason. Hurting you wouldn't prove anything. I guess I just want to know you." Tim pulled up a chair and sat by my bedside. He told me everything about his life and where he came from, and I was surprised at how much he lost because of being Robin. I couldn't imagine being him, but I'm sure he couldn't imagine being me. I felt like I could trust him, but I still couldn't tell him about what happened earlier.

Closer to You
Chapter 5 Characters: Natsu Obinata, L'lolamo Lolomori(Hydaelyn), Fuyu'li cen Zwhan, Varshahn, @driftward 's Nyx Blackmoon, Rating: T for Teen Notes: N/A
Tumblr media
“Um! Attention GA Natsu here! Violet has been abducted by my friend and we're in pursuit of a lead for Leon! If you could maybe come ….HELP!”
Natsu and L’lolamo’s screams echoed off the rocky walls of Central Thanalan and into the Au Ra’s linkpearl as they soared through the air on Violet's motorcycle, the former in terror and the latter in excitement. As they landed, L’lolamo struggled to keep the machine from wobbling and dumping them over.
“Wow! This thing is fast! Did the Garleans make this,” L’lolamo yelled out.
“What do you mean did they- Have you not driven one of these before!?” Natsu panicked.
“Nope!”
Natsu clung tightly to L’lolamo, starting to shake as they pursued Fuyu'li's mech. As they got closer, a deep whistle echoed throughout the valley followed by the huffing of an engine. Flying by them on the mine tracks,  a small train pushed forward, the second to front cart opening up at the top for Fuyu’li to land inside with Violet. L’lolamo huffed a little as the train started to gain distance. “Time to see how fast this thing can really go!”
“Please Kami No!”
“IT’S HERRRO TIME!”
Natsu let out a scream as the woman advanced the handle forward until it wouldn't turn anymore. Gaining on the locomotives, the woman beamed then eyed a natural incline in the ground.
“Don't you dare! You'll kill us,” Natsu yelled out before finding themselves airborne again.
The motorcycle launched itself high and with a little twist, L’lolamo turned them and dumped themselves so that they'd land on the roof of the caboose. Together, they flopped forward before being dragged back by the speed, their machine flinging off the back end onto the tracks.
“We'rrre alive!” L’lolamo cheered, moving to stand with Natsu.
“This woman is going to kill me,” the Au Ra thought with a whine as she watched her force open a safety hatch to drop down inside.
Natsu followed, finding themselves in a dimly lit storage cart. Curiously, L’lolamo pulled a lid off a crate, finding it filled with copper ore. “What do the Garleans want with all this ore?”
Natsu looked around, noticing a banner of the scales of Ul’dah hanging on the wall. “I don't think this is for them. See?”
“Since when does Ul'dah bother with magitech,” L’lolamo asked, hands on her hips.
Picking up on the other's disapproval, Natsu crossed her arms and looked out a window, “I'm a bit unsure of the details, but my understanding is that given that Garlemald has been working with Eorzeans in exchange for aid in rebuilding their own country. I suppose they showed them how to build something like this for the mines. Fuyu'li knows more about this sort of thing…”
L’lolamo nodded. “Then we'll have him tell us when we catch up with him,” she said before bending forward a little to look into the girl’s eyes, “It'll be okay Natsu.”
The Auri girl blinked, taken aback a moment, “I don't…I don't think we properly introduced ourselves.”
L’lolamo laughed then crawled over the crates before turning to help Natsu up after her, “Well, I'm guessing my husband told you who I am and I just…sort of know who people are by meeting them.”
Natsu blinked then carefully lowered herself down on the other side of the boxes, “You have the Echo?”
“In a manner of speaking,” L’lolamo hummed, starting to pull the cart’s door open, “Well, maybe it's better to say I am the Echo…or was. I'm still trying to figure myself out.”
Natsu blinked then stepped forward to gently push the door open, causing L’lolamo’'s ears and tail to perk high before going limp with embarrassment. The noise of the tracks soon filled the room as they stared out to a large empty platform that led to the cart where they'd seen Fuyu’li enter from above. Before they could step out, Natsu stopped L’lolamo, getting feedback from her linkpearl. “Wait, I think reinforcements have found us. Let's give them time to catch up.”
L’lolamo blinked then gave a little nod. “Alright. Then in the meantime perhaps you can tell me more about Fuyu’li and why he might have taken your friend.”
Natsu leaned against the train wall, thinking for a moment. “I don't know. He loves Garlemald very much but I don't think he'd ever try to go back. He was so disheartened by what he did…but the mech and this train…”
“Maybe he was tricked by someone,” L’lolamo offered.
The girl looked up to the Miqo'te in shock. “That's right! Everyone was after Fuyu'li, that means they didn't see the imposter. It's not him,” she breathed out in relief before continuing, “Then you know who it is! You saw through their ruse!”
“I'm sorry?”
“When you saved U'rahn!”
“Oh? Well- No, I couldn't see through whatever veil they had up. To me they were Rahn, but, I could just feel something wrong on instinct. Enough so that I was finally able to wake up…”
Natsu frowned a little before finding her hands taken by L’lolamo, “But perhaps I can help us figure out what's going on! Maybe I can give you an Echo?”
“Huh? I've only ever seen things from touching another…unless you saw them I don't think it'll do much good,” Natsu sighed.
“Right! I get you've got a special deal going on but so I do…maybe. Perhaps if I…” L’lolamo started before placing her hands gently on the sides of Natsu's head.
The Auri girl blinked as the woman closed her eyes, seeming to concentrate before saying, “Hear…feel…think…”
Natsu opened her eyes to find herself on a warm Thavnarian beach, just beyond an outpost for the Radiant Host. In the distance she watched as a young Auri boy wandered away from a group of children toward a dark figure laid out in the sand by the beach.
She drew closer as the boy squatted down, finding a Miqo'te washed ashore in his Garlean uniform. Without fear, the boy brushed his hand over the other's ear, for the other to stir and weakly look up at him. Natsu immediately recognized Fuyu’li’s red eyes and frosted bangs. He looked thin and  his skin discolored.
Tumblr media
On the brink of death, he reached outward to the Auri boy, who in turn pulled an apple from his pocket to cut in half to offer it to him. Grateful, Fuyu'li bit into it, sucking the fresh juices out before taking proper bites as the young boy whistled to summon the Radiant Host and his peers to come help and they faded from view.
Natsu then found herself on the streets of Thavnarian, finding Fuyu’li carrying a large box and dressed in local attire. Beside him the Auri boy walked while looking up at him, “It is very kind of you to offer your assistance to the alchemists. I know they appreciate an outsider's insight and rarely get feedback from other nations’ peers.”
“Anything to help. I would have died on the beach if it wasn't for your kindness and the kindness of your people. I will gladly work to earn my place here,” Fuyu’li answered.
Tumblr media
The boy stopped, bringing his fist to his chin as he thought, “Surely you miss your home and family though. I would hate to think you are depriving them of your company feeling you owe us something. You have more than repaid us in your assistance.”
Fuyu'li shook his head, “I'm the second eldest son of a very large clan. I doubt they've noticed my absence, though I should send a bird letting them know I am well and safe. For now, I think it is safest for me to stay here and serve you.”
“If you are certain, though, I would send word to them soon. Family is important. You never know when you might lose someone you love.”
Fuyu’li’s ears lowered as the boy’s tone lowered and became sullen. Natsu watched as the Miqo'te opened and closed his mouth, trying to find words that weren't coming to him easily. “Did…you lose someone important to you?”
The boy nodded, “My big sister.”
“Was it because of the warring…”
“No. At least not the one Garlemald persists to wage. She was lost to us and I have never once given up hope on finding her.”
The Miqo’te perked up as the other explained then thought, “I might…be able to find those who could help. If you’d tell me a bit more…”
The scene faded and Natsu found herself on a familiar dining cart sitting across Fuyu’li. She was looking out the window while the Miqo'te was busy cutting a fish filet into squares.
“Trains are amazing, are they not? What would take weeks now is reduced to just over a day and the scenery is so beautiful it’s almost hard to believe that there is a civil war going on just North of here. So, you never said why you are traveling to Eorzea”
Natsu watched herself smile then give a little nod to Fuyu'li, “I'm looking for information on my late father. He migrated to Eorzea before I was born. Apparently I have an older brother that can tell me about him…I just have to find him first.”
Fuyu'li' perked up, “I too am on a mission to find the whereabouts of another! My master's older sister disappeared somewhere in Eorzea and I've set off to find her for him! She is the dearest person to him. Sadly I've little to go on in terms of her whereabouts aside from a memento left behind. I am not worried though as there are many there with a special insight bordering on prophetic. Perhaps as strangers in a strange land we can accompany one another. My connections might very well lead us to your brother as well!”
They faded and now they were together wandering Ul’dah. Natsu watched as she wandered excitedly forward, having found out the new location of her brother's Free Company. This was the day they were separated. As she wandered ahead, Fuyu'li stopped, looking down an alleyway. Waving him over was the young Au Ra. Abandoning Natsu he hurried over and her vision ended.
Natsu took a large breath of air as she came out of her trance, looking up to L’lolamo as she furrowed her brow and hummed strange notes. “Is it working? I don't think it's working,” the Miqo'te finally said, noticing the other's gaze.
“No. It worked. I saw Fuyu'li and I think the person who he refers to as his young master and then…when we met…and then when we were separated. He's being manipulated by the imposter!”
As she came to the realization loud thudding sounded from the roof followed by her linkpearl buzzing followed by Nyx's voice. “Obinata, Blackmoon. Reinforcements have arrived at your location. Prepare for combat.”

Playtime (Gore AU)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Follow-up to @idiotwithanipad 's fic The Woods, featuring her oc Amy and one or two Yonderland references)
Amy's finger practically stabs Silver's palm.
"Don't....want....dress....Just....want....home." the blind witchling interprets before giggling, inwardly cursing her body for the impulse. This is the worst time to laugh; "Oh, Fizzy, I dunno how to tell you this but...we can't leave here. Trust me. I've been here probably since before you were born. Hehehe! I mean...it be one thing if it were just my mummy and your daddy dragging us back...But it's more than that..."
She holds onto Amy's hand.
"Fluffy Friend, can you lead us to the magic wall please?" She asks.
A grunt comes in response.
Silver gently tugs Amy along as she follows her nose in the wake of the trail Ra's body leaves behind as moves on. It's only a few yards into the woods until they stop.
Mummy's ally grunts again to confirm they've arrived.
"Thanks a bunch! Hehehe." She turns back to Amy, letting go of her hand; "I used to try to run away from Mummy many times. It was so silly! All I knew was the people who stole me from her who said they were my parents. It didn't make sense to me that my real mummy was a four hundred year old witch, hehehehe! So when my brain stopped being all fuzzy, I'd run as far as I could....but I could never make it past here, or anywhere the magic wall is. Haven't you been here before? You might have done but maybe you forgot, hehehe....This place is fucked up like that."
A gurgled murmur. A stomp of a heavy boot. Silver can tell her friend is frustrated and upset. The fact she can't talk must make it all the more maddening.
Amy grabs her hand again and writes three letters.
"Bye?...Oh." She just gives a sad smile.
Amy lets her go. Silver hears her footsteps quicken as she rushes forward.
A whoosh.
"Mmmf!"
Another run. Then whoosh.
And again. And again.
It takes every ounce of restraint for Silver to contain her giggles. Last thing she wants is for Amy to think she's making fun of her for what she herself did all too often.
"See? It's not just them. It's this place. Hehehehe." Like holding in a breath, she has to let it out before she combusts, "We're trapped here, and so are they."
Ra lets out a grunt to confirm that fact. Feeling her heart ache for him, Silver reaches to stroke his mane.
"I bet you've lost count of how many times you've tried to cross the magic wall, haven't you, friend?" She smiles sadly.
Another gurgle and stomp comes from Amy before a soft thud. Silver tentatively reaches her hand out to find she's sunk to her knees, hands over her head, rocking a little.
"Hey, hey," She kneels down with her and takes her hands; "Like I said, it's a pile of wank. But...it doesn't have to be. It took me some time, and perhaps a dash of Stockholm Syndrome hahaha....But we can make the best of it?"
Her mind's eye sees Amy frown at her as if to say 'are you for fucking real?'
Silver's laugh is genuine that time.
"I'm serious! Come on, I'll prove it to you! You don't have to have a pretty dress, you can have...Hmm...."
Her hands pad up Amy's arms, feeling the fabric of her hoodie, as an idea begins to form in her damaged brain.
With a squeak of excitement, Silver claps her hands.
"That's it! Hahaha....Okay. Mr. Floof, I'm about to do something incredibly stupid so if it goes tits up then please get Amy somewhere safe, okay? Ta!"
Ra's grunt sounds like an agreement, but with a touch of hesitation. For good reason.
Amy mumbles, and she can almost hear in the confused tone. 'What are you-?'
Silver takes a deep breath.
"Mummy!"
The response is instant, as it always is. Less than a second after she's made the call, making sure not to sound too afraid or hurt, but still rather urgently in need, it works.
She hears the rush of wind and feels the sudden waft of heat, followed by the crackle of embers and the scent of burned toast up her nostrils.
"Darling girl, is everything....?" Mummy spots the person at her side and her loving tone hardens to stone; "What-."
Silver raises her hand; "Mummy, just let me explain, please!"
While she was ready for her mother to erupt, she's taken off guard by the gurgled scream from her friend. Liquid sloshes to the ground at their feet.
Turning around, Silver reaches for her friend's face, her thumb feeling a damp on her chin.
"Oh dear, are you okay, Amy? Were you sick?" She frets.
Amy shakes her head and grabs Silver's hand.
"Witch....will....get....me." She frowns, then giggles again; "No she won't, silly! It's only Mummy. She wouldn't hurt any friend of mine. Would you, Mummy? Tell her!"
She looks towards the tall figure of flame and smoke that glows in her blotched vision. The silhouette of a protective mother goddess who has been one of only two constants since she fell into this mad other world.
Faintly, after a rather long pause, she sees her mother smile.
"'Course. No harm shall befall any companion of my little'en." Mummy promises, stepping forward.
Amy trembles more as Mummy approaches. Silver sticks close to her, squeezing her hand.
"But tell me now, girls. What is thou doing here without my foreknowledge of such a meeting?"
"It was my idea, Mummy. I crept towards the house." Silver lied, quickly, before either Amy or Ra felt compelled to tell the truth.
No reason for either of them to get in trouble.
"Again, child?!" Mummy grits her teeth, exasperated.
"Yes, hehehehe, I'm sorry, I am, but I didn't go in this time, honest! I just went to Amy's window and convinced her to come out to play was all. I told her that you said it was okay..."
She feels Mummy's bony hand touch her chin.
"Hmm. You be the worst liar, Silver Guppy, you knows that?" Mummy's chiding is not unkind.
Silver blushes. Worth a try.
A shuffle, and Ra lets out a grunt.
"Yous? You lead the girl here? To Hades, the pair of ye!" Mummy sighs, throwing her hands up.
Silver reaches to stroke Ra's mane in thanks. So long as the blame isn't put on Amy for running away, it's not like she was trying to meet her. She only wanted to be free. A yearning that Silver remembers all too well.
"Explains why your da be making such a noise from the window and sending his husk roaming for you!" Mummy says to Amy, who shivers again.
Silver links her arm through her friends.
"Mummy. You said foundlings can only be taken from their parents if the child wishes to leave and they're not being nice. Well Amy isn't happy with her daddy! Let her stay here, even if just for a little bit...Like a sleepover! Except without me sleeping tonight, hehehe."
"T'is not that simple, darling girl. It must be Amy's choice if she wishes to remain. And whilst you twos may have many a jape together, what about whilst you be asleep, hmm?" Mummy challenges.
"I...I didn't think about that."
Fuck. Stupid sleeping curse. It would suck for Amy to be by herself in the forest for a month until Silver woke up again. But at least she'd have Ra, who is learning to be kinder. A little.
And Mummy would look after her, wouldn't she? Amy must see that she's not scary.
"But surely it's better than her being trapped in that room all day! Especially when she has the choice to leave the house, unlike poor Kitty."
Amy makes a confused hum.
"Oh! Remind me to tell you about her later."
Mummy clicks her tongue; "Sweet girl, the only one who can break a foundling bond is the child and she wouldst have to confront the Headless one herself. But I sense her feelings towards him be more complicated than she let's on."
Amy made no sound of response but Silver could feel the slight slacken of her grip.
Oh. Of course, this place's influence would already be affecting her, as it did Silver. If her mind has already started to be warped to think of the headless man as her dad then it will only solidify as time goes on. Silver knows this all too well.
"Well....if that's what she wants to do then I'll be at her side. And if she wants to go back to her daddy and only visit once a month, that's okay too..." Silver states. That's fair, isn't it? "But, just for tonight, please Mummy...Can I give her a present?"
Mummy tilts her head; "A present?"
Silver let's go of her friend and skips to her mum's side, reaching up to whisper something in her ear.
"Oh..." Mummy says, "Well. I 'spose that be doable."
She walks towards Amy, who Silver can hear trembling again. Her mind's eye sees Ra creep close to her and nudge against her side, for support and comfort. Good boy.
Mummy stands over the girl and speaks; "I....apologise, young Amy, for any intimidation I mays have caused with my behavior before. Please let it be understood...all I cares about is the safety of my family. Sometimes I do go to extreme lengths to succour that."
Amy seemed too frozen with fear to respond.
"However...if you be my daughter's companion, whether that be in living here or the odd visit, I concede that makes ye family too."
Silver can't contain her squeal of joy, jumping a little on her boots.
"My daughter wishes to bestow a gift upon thee. To do I require access to your mind again, but have no fear. I willst not intrude on your memories. I only need to open your third eye."
The mute girl grunts in confusion again.
"T'is the eye of imagination in your brain. T'is what allows my Silver, whose human eyes be rotten, to see the world which I have made for her enjoyment. Might need more focus from you, as you be cursed with the opposite affliction of being unable to close your eyes."
Mummy raises her hands. Tendrils of smoke coil around her wrists and then slowly wriggle towards Amy's head.
Silver sees her shiver, can smell the sweat of panic.
"Look at me, Fizzy Girl! Please trust me. It will be okay. You'll like it. And if you don't then you only have to tell Mummy and it will stop, hehehehe." She tries to assure.
Mummy's magic forms a smoky veil over Amy's eyes while the rest slithers into her ears and her brow. She then moves one of her arms back and directs some of the energy towards Silver, who eagerly embraces it like an old friend, instead of squirming away in fear as she once had.
The darkness shrinks and her home, her enchanted forest, returns in full technicolor.
For Amy, the bleak and mundane English wood of brown and black would be transformed into a grove illuminated by floating balls of fae light, the moon shining bright silver down through the emerald leaves. The common moths and other insects become cheeky sprites and nymphs perched on branches, peeking in on then. The witch who cast the spell, the walking husk of bone and crispy flesh, is now as Silver always sees her. Whole and unmarked, a tall woman with a round face and twinkling eyes, thick dark hair cascading down her shoulders, her tattered peasant dress replaced with a black and ember orange gown.
Silver giggles as she twirls in her own gown, a similar style to her mother's but matching the hot pink and ebony of her hair. As she twirls, she shows off to Amy her feet, clad in even chunkier black boots then she wore before instead of tiny heels.
"Isn't it amazing?! I told you! Here, have your present! Go on, Mummy, give it to her!"
"Patience, little'en, for Hecate's sake." Mummy tuts.
She waves her hands over Amy's form.
Her hoodie transforms into a long hooded cloak, with glittering electric blue stars down the sleeves and the same trim on the hem. Her boots are also given a small upgrade, blue scales like armor on the toes.
"Hahaha, you look so fucking cool! Like an apprentice sorceress or something!" Silver bounces up to her; "Do you like it? You can change it however you want, or wear anything you want, you just have to let Mummy know how you want it!"
Amy pulls the hood up, but just seems to be testing how it feels before lowering it again, then checking out the blue stars that seem to grow and shrink, and then feels the scalded armour on her boots.
"It's...it feels so real. Wait. What the fuck-?" She touches her mouth, that remain firmly closed, and yet; "How am I speaking?!"
"Hehehehe, you're not, silly, you're thinking! Mummy's spell connects our thoughts. The magic let's me see and it gives you a voice....sort of. Still wouldn't recommend trying to open your mouth. Soz." Silver turns to her mother; "Please, Mummy, can me and Amy just play together for a little while before she makes her choice! Can I at least show her the dragons? Please, please, please!"
"All right, all right, if it stops ye mewling like a kitten for food, ye pest." Mummy pokes her nose; "Just don't stray too far!"
Silver grabs Amy's hand, giggling as she leads her through the forest. They have to jump over a shallow stream, barely a muddy trickle in reality, now appearing as a tiny sparkling river home to water nymphs and toads that walk on their hind legs.
The fairy creatures don't flee from Silver as she rushes through, instead they wave to each other.
"Hi, Fred! Hi, Betsy! Ooh, I love your new wings. Can't stop, Kirsty, promise we'll catch up later. Hehehehe." She greets them as they pass.
"I...It all looks so real...." Amy's inner voice echoes out, stunned.
"It's as real as you want it to be! Hehehe. When the real world is shit, why not escape to a fantasy world? We're dead anyway, not like it's gonna do us much more harm."
"Yeah but....I dunno if I like this, Silv. Don't like not knowing what's real and what's not..."
"Oooh, I'm guessing you never took much drugs. Good for you, hehehe."
"Monster drinks were more my addiction."
"Oh? What's that?"
"You...didn't have energy drinks in your time?"
"In my time! Hahaha, only died in 2003, I ain't ancient! Haha. We had Red Bull? Is it like that?"
"Yes and no....Fuck, I wish I could have some now. Might help me to enjoy this. It's weird coz there's a whole load it it in my mouth right now but I can't swallow."
Silver huffs on her friend's behalf; "That is a bummer. Here, you might like this!"
She guides her friend towards the lake, now surrounded by mountains at the other side where giants can be seen roaming the peaks, and elves and high fae lounge on the banks, dipping their toes in the water or having a swim with the merfolk.
Silver guides Amy to the shallow most part and they kneel down.
"This water can taste of anything you like! Watch!" She scoops up a handful and sups at it; "Ahh! White Russian Vodka, hahaha. But if Mummy asks, it's root beer."
"But how am I supposed to-?"
Silver pushes her friend's head into it. Amy splutters and then pushes herself back up.
"You bitch, that went right up my nose!" She glared at her, mouth still sealed shut.
"Hehehehe, and what can you smell?"
"I....Oh shit." Amy blinks and stumbles back, as if having taken a hit of something noxious; "Oh sweet Mango Loco, I've fucking missed you!"
"Hahahaha, see!" Silver claps her hands; "Worth the dick move, yeah?"
Amy repays her by shoving her head down too. Silver opens her mouth to swallow a mouthful of sweetened spirits. A shame she can't get drunk but being eternally high is just as good.
After Amy's taste had been literally sated, Silver walks with her around the lake, introducing her to some of the others.
On their way, two men dressed as cavaliers nearly bump into them, then apologise and proceed to struggle to decide which of them is more sorry.
"No, good sir, twas my fault for not moving aside for the fair maidens!"
"How wrong you are, my good fellow, twas my doing! I am the one to apologise!"
Silver tugs Amy's wrist; "Don't worry about them, they'll be here all day, best to leave them to it."
A petite figure with silky hair and wearing a blue robe smiles at her.
"Ah, Princess, are we still up for our shopping trip tomorrow? Trevor wishes for me to get him some clogs while we're out and about." She asks, demurely.
"How does a blob wear-? Never mind. Of course, Ho-Tan, wouldn't miss it!"
Amy can only stare at all the strange people and things surrounding them.
"Are they all...like us?"
"You mean dead? No, silly. They only exist in Mummy's world for us." Silver answers, when out of earshot from her 'friends'.
"So....they're not really here? You're just talking to air?"
"Sure, if you wanna spoil the fun. How real did that Monster drink smell to you?"
"....Real enough." Amy concedes.
Exactly. Silver giggles again and finally they arrive at the foot of the mountain.
In a small undergrove, rest a nest of baby dragons, no bigger than cats. They lift their long necks as the girls approach, each one a different, vibrant color from scarlet to onyx to emerald to violet and more.
"Aww, look how big you guys are getting! Who wants a cuddle?" Silver reaches for the one who is the first to move closer, the violet beast most eager to stretch her wings. "This is Amy! She's our friend. I know you're still practicing your fire so don't singe her."
The girls sit and crouch beside the dragons, all of them eager to crawl and nuzzle the new human. The sapphire one seems most drawn to her cloak, attempting to crawl up on her shoulder.
"This...is so fucking weird." She looks at Silver, those clenched lips turning upward slightly, a tiny glint in those strained wide eyes; "But it's a cool weird."
"Told you!"
Their mum soon arrives, a thirty foot tall giant beast of bronze scales and fiersome wings. She doesn't seem the least bit threatened by the girls playing with her litter.
Instead she lowers her head for Silver to hug her massive nose.
"She says we can go for a ride if you want? What d'you reckon?"
"....Ride a dragon? Seriously?!"
"Hehehe, what's the worse that could happen? Hahahaha."
The mother dragon rests her head on the ground so Silver can use her horn to hoist herself up and onto the back of her. She reaches a hand down for Amy.
"Come on, Fizzy Girl! Die a little! Hehehe."
Amy shakes her head at the sheer insanity. Then she takes her hand.
-
Mistress is struggling, that he can see.
It took her long enough to master creating and controlling a fantasy world for the dancing girl to enjoy. Something far more visceral and tangible than the soft medicine she seeped into his brain to ease his thoughts. Over the years she seemed to have managed it.
But now, with two?
Ra watches as his Mistress stands, smoke and embers decorating her aura, moving her hands as if kneeding a ball of dough, her eyes two black coals.
Her magic, her dark energy, cloaks the two young girls, manipulating their senses to create the fairytale world around them. Her fire helps with the illusion of friendly dragons that the Moonah Girl seems to enjoy the most. The smoke lifts them up off their feet to give them the sense of flight. Silver laughs, as she always does, but with shining sincerity this time as she rides through the air with a real friend at her side. The hooded girl with the stompy boots spits up some of her drink as she struggles not to cheer from the terrifying yet undeniable thrill of flight.
Part of him, that fun loving side buried deep beneath his hardened shell, envies their childlike delight and innocence. He could ask Mistress to create such delights for him but he's satisfied with what she already provides.
This will be too much for her. He can hear it in the crackle of her embers.
Ra nudges her side.
"T'is all right, dear ally. I has this in hand. It be worth the effort..." She responds, straining, doing all she can to keep the world as real as possible for the children; "Listen to that, ally. Hear their laughter. There be no sweeter sound, is there."
He grunts, inclined to agree, wishing the moment could be frozen forever so that the two would always be this happy. But he knew, with the curse of accepting reality, Mistress would not be able to do this all the time. It's easy enough with Moonah Girl only being awake three nights a month. But if the stompy girl wished to stay...He thinks he'd be rather poor company compared to her friend.
Another problem arises when he hears a shuffle nearby and his hackles raise, sensing an intruder.
When he turns, his pose protectively guarding his Mistress, he sees the blood-soaked body of the cloaked one stumbling towards him.
"WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER?!" demands the head held tight in the crook of his own elbow.

Completely imersed in the pile of books you gathered in the library in order to try and understand more about potions, you get startled when a boy throws himself into the chair next to you, a yellow stripped tie hitting your head in the process.
"I'll give you 20 bucks if you kiss me."
"What? No!", you give him a disgusted and confused look before digging your head into the old dusty pages again.
"Come on!! Angela keeps coming to me trying to snuggle and kiss me and-", as dramatic as he is, Hyunjin pretends he is going to be sick, exaggerating on the nasty sounds way too close to your ear.
"What? Why?", your bestfriend finally caught your full attention as you turn to face him, "Wait, Angela as in like, Angela your major crush perfect-Angela? Weren't you supposed to like, I don't know, enjoy the attention?" But then the face he makes, his cheeks turning shades of pink as his gaze drifts away from you and he sinks down in his chair in embarrassment, realization hits you, "No! No you did not! Are you like what, dumb?", you flick is head inducing a loud squeal to come out his mouth.
"It was Jeongin's idea!", his voice three pitches higher than before, "And I can't be that dumb if I managed to make that stupid love potion work. But that's beside the point, will you do it or not?"
"Do what? Kiss you? And how will that help you dimwit?", you went to flick his head again because, to be fair, he deserved it, but Hyunjin knew you too well and held your hand in time to stop you from hurting his pretty face, as he likes to state.
"To break the curse! Make her give up on me by making her think we're together or something!"
"What curse? There is no curse! And she isn't even thinking right now, she might just kill me out of jealousy!", at this point you're pratically yelling at each other and are forced to leave the library, resuming this odd conversation on your way to Ravenclaw's common room.
"I still can't believe you let yourself go with what Jeongin tells you. He's evil you know?"
"Should've guessed by the green scarf huh?", you slap his arm lightly, not very fond of the jokes made regarding the fact your other best friend is a Slytherin.
"So, how do I solve this?", he basically pleas at you as you sit down on the desk next to the fireplace, as far away as possible from your housemates. Every two in three students has made, or attempted to make, some sort of potion or spell to have something in their advantage. However, amortentia wasn't just "some potion", and if some were to find out that Hwang - head in space - Hyunjin succeded at his attempt they would never leave his poor ass alone, so for now your plan was to keep this subject as low-key as possible.
"Marry her." you say nonchalantly while, without his knowledge, already looking up all about amortentia, its possible side effects and how long it would take to wear off - if ever-, receiving a whine in return.
"It was really fun at first, you know? The flirting was cute, the smooches were great," and boy he put some emphasis on that adjective,"but now it's like she's obsessed with me! She's clingy and talks with that annoying voice and I can't seem to get rid of her!" Hyunjin throws himself face down into the old couch and whines again, words muffled by the pillow where he burried his face. "She's probably standing right outside the door just now!"
"Wait, what do you mean it was fun at first? How long has this been going on Hwang Hyunjin? And why am I only knowing of this now?", you turn around in your chair way too fast, hitting with your knee on the other chair next to you before facing the mop of brown hair all spread around the blue pillow.
"Well, I barely ever saw you all week!", the boy turns his head just the minimum amount to look at you, "You're either with your nose buried in those old books, or with your hands all over Lee Minho! Not my fault you no longer have time for your friends..."
"First of all," you pull out the pillow he's laying on, his face falling on the black cushion as a few curses leave his lips, "lower your tone! I did not spend the week with my hands all over Minho, I am tutoring him in potions!"
"Which you're not that good at, that's why you walk everywhere with those fat books..." Hyunjin rolls his eyes at you as he recovers the pillow from your hands again, "Don't deny it (y/n), you've got the hots for him!"
"Oh sweetie, I sense jealousy in your tone... is that why you gave Angela a poorly made potion?", you show him the page you've been reading between the backs and forths of your not so relevent argument, only for him to realize the potion should've worn off two days ago. Instead, it only got worse. "Perhaps you could use some reading too huh?"
The boy rips the book from your hands, grunting between his teeth sounds you doubted to be words as he makes his way out, only to shut the door as soon as he opens it, squealing loudly when his eyes meet the ones from the Gryffindor's brunette standing right in the middle of the hallway.
"I'm telling you (y/n), she won't leave me alone! It's like she's obsessed!", Hyunjin keeps his back against the door, afraid the girl could open it by some miracle driven by her potion induced feelings, hence she doesn't have the password.
"Well, you see Hyunjin... that's because she is! And it's your fault, you should simply face it..."
"Oh I'm going the kill Jeongin...", the boy grunts ignoring your words completely as the whines coming from the other side of the door overlapped them, "Can you go get him? Or get rid of her?"
You make your way to the door Hyunjin refuses to unblock and, when words and pushes didn't make the tall boy move, you had to resort to your wand, although the simple threat was more than enough for him to make way for you. He stayed hidden in the corner as you parted the door slightly to tell the girl her beloved had disapparated from there, and she should probably look at the quidditch court. The fact she believed you only proved how strongly she was affected by the potion, since everyone knew Hyunjin would never go to a sports court by his free will and disapparating into and out Hogwarts wasn't possible at all.
As soon as the path got clear you both made your way to the shrieking shack through the whomping willow everyone was so afraid of, but that was exactly why the three of you claimed it as your secret meeting place.
Jeongin was already waiting as you sent him a message through your magic notepad when you got rid of Angela, and you had to secure Hyunjin to not throw the book at the Slytherin boy who only laughed in return. The laughter didn't last long though, because you only stopped Hyunjin so you would be the one scolding the younger one, flicking his head the same way you did to the lover boy earlier.
"Hey! What did you do that for?", the boy frowned at you rubbing his forehead.
"To bring you back to reality, so you can both fix the mess you made!"
"But what's the problem?" Jeongin looked at you with honest confusion on his face, "Is this about the potion? You know that thing wears off in like a week or so right?"
"Exactly... do the math now genius..." Hyunjin rolls his eyes before leaning his back against the spiderweb covered walls.
The three of you spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out what went wrong in the first place, you analyzing every single detail of the procedure, and the boys trying to recreate every step they took to reach the final product. But, after hours of research and theories nothing seemed to have gone wrong, well except for the exaggerated and long-lasting effect of the potion.
"We should just obliviate the poor girl..." suggested Jeongin at one point, head in his hands as a sing of withdrawal.
“I don’t think that’s legal, but we can work around it...” You agree with him closing the book you were now reading for the fifth time.
"Are you guys serious? Because that sounds great! Can we get away with it?" Hyunjin's eyes were sparkling in hope as he shifted in his seat to a more straight up position, ready to do whatever it took to get to walk in peace around the school, without being unexpectedly smooched in the cheek and squezeed into a hug every time the girl spotted him.
"No, it's a joke!" You both sigh at your friend's desperation before calling it a day, deciding to resume your research first thing in the morning.
As per usual, you met with the boys for breakfast at the dining hall, though this time they weren't alone and you couldn't help out a giggle when Angela, as glued to Hyunjin as possible while feeding him something funny looking with a spoon, winked at you as soon as you sat in front of her and next to Jeongin. The latter looked almost as horrified as the pampered boy, and you had to focus to try and keep yourself from bursting into laughter before the scene that was unfolding in front of you.
Hyunjin looked like an annoyed pouty baby slumped in his chair - as an attempt to go unnoticed -, while the smiley girl, - one that seemed to have way too much energy in the morning -, pulled some strands of the boy's hair behind his ear before kissing his cheek, "You're so pretty Hyunnie-jin, and I hate to leave you," the girl pouts as she pinches his cheeks rather aggressively, "but don't worry sugarplum, I'll be waiting for you in the astronomy tower when you leave class." This time the kiss is aimed at his lips, but Hyunjin antecipates her intentions and dodges his head with a slick move, just not fast enough to be fully free of her, ending up with her lips awkwardly attached half to his jaw, half to the corner of his lip.
"So you decided to give in?" You couldn't help the grin that was forming on your face, finding it hilarious how the universe always had a way to keep things balanced.
"Shut up. I had to if I didn't want to starve myself, it was one sacrafice I was willing to take." Hyunjin furiously rubs his face with a napkin, as if it would erase the memory of the previous demonstration of affection.
"I say it's the karma, you were basically playing and manipulating her the moment you gave her the potion, now you face the consequences."
"It's like she's taking revenge..." Jeongin mumbles more to himself than to his friends, but he was still heard, and had now two pairs of eyes locked on him waiting for a further explanation to what seemed to be a pretty plausable theory. "We already concluded we didn't do anything wrong, right?"
"Yes, it's still hard to believe though..." you take a sip of your pumpking juice with a raise eybrow, honestly still impressed at how they pulled that off.
"So what if she got aware that Hyunjin gave-"
"We, Jeongin, we!! This wasn't just me okay? I just got the, uh, benefits?"
"Ok, sure, whatever... What if she became aware that we," emphasis on the pronoun as he glanced at Hyunjin, "gave her a potion and now that it wore off she is pulling this act as a pay back? Because, according to our lover boy, if it was nice at first then why would she suddenly start acting all obsessively?"
Both you and Hyunjin took a moment to reflect on this new theory, one Jeongin was really proud of as showed by his smug grin when he crossed his arms and relaxed back in his chair.
"I hate to admit it, but that makes a lot of sense... and explains why she winked at me when I got here..."
"Okay yes, she is faking it... why else would she wink at (y/n) when I'm the one she's supposed to be focused on?", the boy threw his arms up with a questionting - and slightly offended - look.
"Time for confrontation!" you were already standing up with Hyunjin following the lead, but you held yourselves back when you realized Jeongin wasn't moving, looking between the both of you still grinning.
"I've got a better idea..."
It was a terrible idea, you thought, and wanted no part in it at all so you let the boys discuss the details while you just sat there judging their poor life decisions.
The plan was for Hyunjin, instead of confronting her and get it over with as you suggested, to play along as if he too was deeply in love with her, and see who would break out of character first. As much as you tried to explain how childish and stupid the plan was, the boys simply wouldn't listen to you, convinced this was the best idea they've ever had.
Hyunjin got oddly excited about this and ran to astronomy class, already antecipating the act he would pull off when he'd see the girl waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs when he'd get out, leaving you and Jeongin alone in the dining all. The contrast of your opinions on this was pretty clear in your faces, Jeongin laughing loudly, you furrowing your brows and shaking your head in disapproval.
Then, all of a sudden, the boy stops laughing and looks at you, "What if they actually end up falling in love after all this?"
He sounded seriously concerned yet amused at the same time, while you only rolled your eyes at him before collecting your books and leaving for class as well.
"Shut up, this isn't a wattpad fanfic."

Hi! I just caught up with your Magicatra AU and I'm loving it, I have some worldbuilding questions re: Adora. Is there a reason why Adora wasn't also affected by the murderbot infection when she infected the sword? I thought being a First One meant it automatically affected her, or must she be in direct contact with the Sword if she were also affected? Also, I like that it's not really well known what magicats are and their heritage is intertwined with the Eternians. pt1
cont'd pt.2 i love Catra trying to figure things out, and keep being shady Eternian infected (I assume) Light Hope! It's intriguing now that Adora has clear proof about Shadow Weaver being abusive to Catra, there is a coldness & distance to how she treats SW. And it's that dark coldness that Catra is seeing seep in, which is something I always attributed to Adora's Eternian side. i.e. the brief flashes of coldness when she transforms into She Ra the first time.
Adora’s not a First One. She gets to be Regular Girl With All the Magic Around Her. Someone in the comments did float an idea about the sword needing one person (i.e. Adora) and the mask needing another (i.e. Catra), and both having to work together to utilize the full power, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tinker with the idea as a separate story (it lives in my eternally WIP folder), but as far as the Magicatra AU goes, Adora was born and raised in the Fright Zone, no First One blood in her.
Shadow Weaver just played favorites with the girls because a) she liked that Adora was more obedient and b) it fucked with Catra when she saw Adora being favored. Basically, Shadow Weaver is The Worst

I wanna here more about you're genderswapped au! Like, how the girls compare to their canon counterparts in terms of appearance and dynamic with each other and civilian life! I'm just really interested, and I loved your fic!
(I’m so sorry it took me forever to answer this- I wanted to wait until I was on my computer instead of mobile.)
First of all I’m so glad you enjoyed the fic! I really loved writing in that AU and definitely plan to do some more. As for the girls! (This got long so it’s under the cut.)
Brooke Wayne was a pretty average little girl, with her mother’s wavy black hair and her father’s blue eyes.
Growing up and training herself to become a crime fighter, she had to kind of play up the idea of being really into fitness to keep anyone from thinking it was weird that she was built more like an Olympic athlete than a model.
As far as the public is aware, Brooke is a slightly ditsy but well-meaning heiress with an obscene amount of money to blow on frivolous things like bedazzled sports cars. Unlike Bruce Wayne, who’s playfully referred to as a ‘playboy’, she’s more frequently referred to as a ‘slut’.
Her alter ego is still known as Batman, since the armor makes it hard to tell she’s a woman. She doesn’t mind, it’s that much more protection for her actual identity.
When Brooke first adopted Dixie Grayson she was this skinny little acrobat child doing flips everywhere. She had this absolute mop of deep brown hair so dark it looked black with curls going every which way. Alice was the only one who could tame it before important functions or school, otherwise her hair was forever a mess, because she was an active kid.
She had barely turned twelve when puberty hit her like a truckload of bricks. The media took notice immediately and in their eyes she wasn’t a kid anymore, and all that that implies. She was subject to a lot of objectification and some outright predatory behavior. Brooke, having been forced to grow up young herself, didn’t really know what was normal for a kid her age to be involved with, and Dix did some modeling as a preteen and teen, which didn’t help.
Brooke was able to shelter her from most of the worst of it, but it was still a major formative experience for her. She leaned even more heavily on her role of Robin, since no one ever called Robin ‘jailbait’ or commented on her curves.
That stress, combined with some other factors, led to the ‘rough patch’ (understatement) she and Brooke hit in their relationship. When Dix was 17/18 she left the manor, dropped out of the public eye entirely, and became Nightwing.
Dixie as an adult is curvy, and is mostly at peace with that. She’s still got very curly hair but since she wears it much longer (like to her waist, or longer), the curl is a little less obvious. As Nightwing she usually wears it in a ponytail, braid, or pinned up somehow.
A couple of years after Dixie left, Brooke ran into a scrappy street kid named Jaycee Todd who tried to steal the tires from the batmobile.
Baby Jay was skinny too, but not like Dix had been. She wasn’t lean muscle, she was malnourished and small. After living in the manor for a while she picked up some weight, but remained pretty small. She had straight black hair she’d cut herself, and it never looked brushed. Never. Alice would brush it out for her and five minutes later it looked like a mess again. It drove Jay crazy so she eventually got it cut pretty short.
Dix and Jay were wary of each other at first, but since Dixie was afraid Jay would have a childhood like hers had been, she took it upon herself to try and be some kind of older sister to protect her. Jay resisted that at first since it mostly consisted of Dix telling Jay what to do. But they both began to settle into a mostly sisterly relationship after a while.
In direct contrast to Dix, Jaycee didn’t really hit puberty until she was almost sixteen, and even then she stayed pretty small and skinny. Her knees and elbows were always bruised, and her hand-me-downs from Dix were pinned so they wouldn’t fall off her frame. She was often mistaken for a boy.
But then, Jaycee died.
The Lazarus pit had a dramatic effect on her besides just bringing her back to life. She’s as tall as Brooke, and twice as bulky. She’s built like a champion weight lifter, wide and strong and muscular. Her hair, once thin and straight, is thick and wavy, with a shocking white streak right in the front. She wears it in a braid wrapped up under her helmet, and keeps it long. Occasionally she’s still mistaken for a guy, but only when she’s in her full Red Hood gear since she’s more bulky than curvy and doesn’t have much chest to speak of.
After Jay died, Kimberly Drake showed up at Brooke’s doorstep.
Kim was smaller than Dix or Jaycee had been, not an athlete and well fed her whole life, so she was always softer than the two of them had been as kids. Her hair was long and usually braided or in a ponytail, with a bright ribbon tied into it that she hated but her mother insisted on.
Once she became Robin she desperately wanted her hair cut, but her parents wouldn’t allow it (and she couldn’t exactly explain to them just why she suddenly wanted her hair chopped off). So, she smashed some bubblegum into it and told her parents she’d fallen asleep with gum in her mouth. After two hours trying to comb the gum out, her parents relented, and she got it all chopped off into a cute little pixie cut.
Currently Tim is still smaller than her older sisters, although she has a fairly large chest that she gets embarrassed about, so she tends to wear baggy shirts to avoid comments. She let her hair grow out just long enough to curl again, so to about chin length.
And then eventually, just after everything was settling down after Jay came back and all that, Talin (aka genderswapped Talia) showed up with Damian Wayne and was like ‘here’s our daughter enjoy’.
First of all, the reason why Damian is still ‘Damian’ in this AU is because of @identityconstellations headcanon. Long story short it was because Ra’s wanted her to be a boy and so when she was a girl they called her Damian anyway basically to remind her that she’s not what they wanted.
The family mostly calls Damian ‘Dami’, to separate the name from the way she was treated with the League, and just because it’s a natural nickname.
She looks and acts shockingly like Brooke, but has Talin’s green eyes and catlike physique (so far…she’s only thirteen). Her hair is mostly straight but gets wavy when it’s wet or if it’s humid. Dami keeps it shoulder length because she insists it’s more practical.
No one is allowed to mess with her hair, except Alice and Dix. She’ll allow Brooke to brush it but expect a lot of fussing over it, or a scowl while her mother works. She insists she’s old enough for makeup but Brooke disagrees.
I hope this is enough detail on their appearances n’ stuff- I hope to draw all of them at some point to really illustrate the details of how I imagine them. I love talking about this AU so feel free to ask about anything. :>
(Their relationships are pretty much the same as in canon, but maybe with tweaks here and there.)

Glimadora Oneshot: Confused Feelings
Word Count: 1596
Glimmer POV
I lie awake in my bed, restless. My sleep schedule had always been messed up, but now that I had a crush, it was terrible. Every night, when I closed my eyes, all I could think about was her. The way her blonde hair flows when she's in battle, the sparkle in her eyes when we go to festivals, and that isn't even mentioning when she turned into the ancient warrior, She-Ra. The only word to describe her like that was, well, hot.
I let out an exasperated sigh as I rolled over, putting my pillow over my head. Her cute little smiley face wouldn't leave my thoughts alone, and like I had done several times, I slightly lifted the pillow to see my clock. 3:10 A.M., great. Looks like I'll just pull an all-nighter, or maybe I'll be able to sleep. Sitting up, I ruffle my already messy hair, sending sparkles flying everywhere. They were more than usual, mainly because of my crush thoughts, but they flew freely around me until they dispersed into thin air.
Suddenly, I hear the slight creak my bedroom door makes. Terror strikes through me as possible scenarios play through my head. But I eventually work up the courage to look down from my, thankfully, high floating bed. The room was fairly dark, especially since I turned off my string fairy lights a couple hours ago, but I could make out a shadow that went to my doorway, and soon to my step platforms. Upon closer inspection, I saw signature blonde hair, a long sleeved white shirt, and the glistening of tears. It was Adora.
Teleporting as fast as I could, I made my way down to her, wrapped my arms around her, and got back up to my bed. Even when we made it back up, I didn't let go of her, and she ended up wrapping her arms around my neck, crying into my shoulder. Must be another bad nightmare, and I don't think they've ever been this bad. But, she is really soft, not to mention warm. Ugh, focus Glimmer, she needs your help! After snapping myself out of my gay thoughts, I let her steady her breathing before thinking about asking her anything.
"I-I thought I l-l-lost y-you Glimmer. I w-was so scared.." She only hugged me tighter, nuzzling her head into me even more. I, admittedly, blushed at this action, but I knew I had to keep it together. For her sake. "Shh, it's ok....it was only a nightmare. I'm right here, see?" I push her back, letting her look at me. She gave a light smile, warming my heart to no end. I took my hand and began wiping her tears away from her face, my palms on her cheeks. In her eyes, I could see a little shimmer, though I soon realizing that I was letting off so many sparkles, that I might as well have been a walking night light.
Through sniffles, Adora began to giggle at me, making my face grow red out of embarrassment. I try to shoo them away, but nothing was working. I just ran a hand through my hair and gave up, giving out a breath filled laugh. Her laugh is amazing... After we were finished laughing, I decided it would be best to ask her about the dream, since it always seemed to help her in times like this. "So, you ok to tell me what happened in this dream?"
Her smile turned into a fine line that went across her face, making the happy atmosphere shift. She moved uncomfortably, looking down at her fidgeting hands. "Well, it started with me, you, Bow, and the rest of the princesses just hanging out. Then the horde came. They took everybody, well, everybody except y-you. Then Catra came out, and went next to you. T-then she...s-she...." More tears formed in her eyes as she latched onto me once again. Though not crying as much, I could still hear her breath hitch as her back went up and down. One of my hands made circles on her back, while the other stroked her hair. I admired how soft it was, and how well kept she had it.
Feeling Adora pull back from this long, warm hug, I looked at her. She looked away, her face slightly pink. "W-well, I'm glad y-you're ok, I don't know what I would do if you were g-gone." This genuine words would never leave my mind, just knowing that she cared about me this much was amazing. "Heh, it's happening again..." She was now rubbing her face, with a hand on her stomach. This worried me, thinking that something bad going on once again.
"What's wrong Adora?" I put a hand on hers, the one on her face. She moved it slightly, uncovering her gorgeous face. "Promise you won't think I'm weird..?" She made eye contact again, making the world seem to stop around us. "Promise." I responded, giving her a light smile. She did the same, knowing that I would never judge her, no matter what weird thing she was about to tell me. I wonder what it is.
She took a deep breath, then began to tell me everything she was feeling. "Alright, so around the first week I joined the rebellion, I started feeling...different. When I was around...a certain person, my heart would beat so fast I thought I was sick. Also, my face would get all red and I felt like I was going to puke. But, it didn't feel bad, it only made me want to get closer and closer to them. Not only physically, but emotionally. And I don't know what to do about it!"
Was I...was I hearing this right? Did she just say she had a crush on someone? All the while she was saying this, she broke our eye contact, obviously embarrassed. I tried to calm her, keeping my voice light and gentle. "W-we'll, who is this 'person'? Don't worry, you can tell me." More glitter fragments appeared around me, my excitement growing. I put my hand onto her shoulder, trying to calm her down. Adora took a deep breath before letting the word escape her mouth:
"You."
I froze, not prepared for what she just said. My mouth went completely dry, and I felt like passing out from pure joy. "I-it's called a c-crush." Was all I could push out, until her words completely processed. "Be right back." I teleported away, to somewhere in the Whispering Woods, and began squealing. I spun around, almost tripping, but I caught myself on a tree.
Everything dissipated into shining lights as I teleported back to my bed, a huge, goofy smile still stuck to my face. Adora looked back at me, confused but patient for answers. I once again looked her in those eyes of hers and began telling her what her feelings mean. "It's called a crush. It means that you want to be in a relationship with them. It's like being their friend, but with kissing and cuddling, calling each other cute names, and generally wanting to spend your time with the other person. That's the best I can explain it, because when you are in one, things just feel...right." Near the end, I could feel my neck and ears light up, and a light show go off around me.
Though, the girl in front of me seemed relieved, but also a bit worried at the same time. "Oh...hen this is probably weird for you. I'll just...go back to my room if you feel uncomfortable with-" She was about to get off my bed, but I grabbed her arm and cut her words off. A look of surprised flashed on her face as I did. "No! I-I mean...I actually feel the same way. For a while now actually, heh. Here, you can sleep here for the night. If y-you want, that is." I sheepishly trail my sentence off, and let out a breathy laugh.
Her arm moved away, scaring me for a bit, until I felt her fingers interlock with mine. "C-can I do this, then?" The embarrasses look she gave along with her flushed face made the fluttering in my stomach worse. I squeezed her hand for reassurance before lightly pulling her towards the head of my bed. Putting my head on the pillow, I signal her to do the same. She does, at the same time bringing herself closer. Her head finds itself in the crook of my neck, out arms around each other's waist, and our legs touching but not yet tangled.
"You comfy?" I asked, trying to not upset her, or rush this in any way she didn’t like. I could feel her nod as she nuzzled closer to me. A light smile played at my lips as I felt her breath on my neck, and her back come up and down with each calming breath she took. I began to feel drowsy, like her presence was enough to lull me to sleep. And it did, making my vision fade to black and that warm feeling in my chest still lingering.

"Okay, I think that's it." You said, hands on your hips as you and Jungkook walked through your door for the final time.
"What are you selling, the world?" He huffs and puffs.
"For someone who works out often, you complain a lot." He rolls his eyes playfully.
"Where's Tae?"
"Sleeping still." He nods.
"Oh, okay. Ready to go then?" You nodded silently as you grabbed your bag to hitch a ride to the café with Jungkook since he was working today. He starts to talk about the girl who works with you two and how he thinks she's a little cutiepie. He has such a silly crush on her that his cheeks are lightly rose tinted every time he talks about certain encounters they've had. You're happy to see him happy, and you tell him to keep pursuing it since she's a super sweet girl. However, part of you is sad solely because you couldn't say you were 100% happy at this moment. You wish you were, but these problems were hindering you from feeling complete. You just wanted to get past this page in the book.
As soon as you both get to the cafe, you start unloading his trunk and getting everything inside. Jungkook claims he has the last two bags covered, so you walk to the back and take breather just to gather yourself before setting up. But you truly didn't expect to lose it right then and there.
"Okay! I got all the— Y/N?" Jungkook instantly worries when he sees you crying into your hands in the backroom and hurries over to you. "Hey, woah. What's going on?" He gets in front of you, gently trying to pry your hands off of your face.
"Fuck, I'm sorry." You continue to cry as he successfully removes your hands from your face.
"Sorry for what? What's going on?" He wipes your tears with his sweater and lifts your chin to look at you in the eye.
"Nothing."
"The day barely started and you're already crying in the backroom." He says softly. "Don't try and lie to me."
"I just don't know what's going on between me and Tae and it's stressing me out."
"What's going on? Same stuff?" You nod, tears still streaming down your cheeks. You tell him about how he had been super weird about taking Jimin's help and how you both got into a huge argument about it. Then, you told him how last night ended [sparing your poor bestfriend the details] and how you couldn't help but feel used because he simply dismissed you, which is very unlike Taehyung when it comes to arguments and disagreements. "I'm sorry, Y/N. I know he's going through a rough time, but Tae also needs to respect you and look at you as his partner, not someone who's also attacking him or against him. Do you want me to talk to him?"
"No." Simply, no. Because you never get your friends involved like that. You just don't, no matter how much they wanna help. "He looks at me like I am, especially after this whole Jimin thing. I don't wanna say it's stupid because I don't wanna discredit his feelings, but god. Like, should I just do this on my own? Tell Jimin to forget it?"
"No." Jungkook shakes his head. "You're already getting a good start on your goals, Y/N. Don't let that go because of everything going on. Give him some time and space."
"I have been. For awhile now." You sat, feeling completely defeated already, tears still coming down your cheeks.
"Here, I'll go set up and I can take over the table for a bit. I'll ask Isabella if she can cover for a quick second." He stands in front of you, hands out to help support you as if you had lost your footing.
"No, I'll be fine—"
"Y/N, just sit. Okay?" He gives off a small sigh. "Just sit for a second and let yourself take a breather." He gently sits you down and makes sure you don't get up by slowly backing away from you.
"Kook, this isn't Marco Polo."
"I'm just trying to make sure you don't run off because you're stubborn!"
"Hey!" Isabella comes running in, a little confused as to what's happening.
"Hey, can you cover me at the front for a bit?" Jungkook stands back upright in a normal position to ask her sweetly, hands tucked behind his back as he bounced on his feet. This boy.
"Yeah, of course Jungkook." She blushes.
"Thanks. I'll be right back." He gives you a quick look before dashing off. You lay your head onto your arms as they rest on the table, a small headache forming at the center of your forehead.
"You okay, Y/N?" Isabella asks softly as she puts her things away.
"Yeah, sorry. Just a really weird day yesterday."
"I'm sorry." You feel her hand caress your back. "Let me know if you need anything, okay?" She says before shuffling herself out of the room. To be honest, you had no idea what was going on with you, and why you were feeling this way. You were just so sick and tired. Sick and tired of being sick and tired.
This was slowly taking a toll on you, and you weren't even sure if Taehyung realized what he was doing was hurting you in the process.
He can't say he does.
Tae set the weights down back onto the rack aggressively before sitting on the bench, watching Jimin finish his set. They had been working out after lunch, Jimin calling him shortly after Taehyung had fully woken up.
"Are you gonna go to the café after this?" Tae shrugged.
"I don't know, Y/N said she didn't need help and wouldn't be there all day."
"You won't even visit for a bit?" Jimin asks. Usually Tae was rushing to get back to you, but he knew everything that had been going on had been affecting your relationship to an extent.
"We'll see."
"You two coming to the bars tonight then?"
"What are we celebrating again?"
"Nothing. Just getting together like old times. I told Kook, Hobi and Yoongi. They're down." Tae nodded.
"Joon, too?"
"Joon, too."
"Me and Y/N will probably go but I don't think we'll stay long. She has to do that thing at the school—" He scratched his head. "The thing— the exhibit and talking to incoming art students or whatever." Jimin chuckled at how Tae couldn't get his words out.
"It's not whatever."
"You know that's not what I mean." Tae rolled his eyes at him, annoyed all over again at how Jimin had been kissing your ass lately. Cause fuck, the way Jimin had been painting himself as a knight in shining armor, an angel even, was pissing him the fuck off. It made him feel like he wasn't doing enough to support you, or like you couldn't turn to him for help. He hated that feeling, even though he had been rude as hell and showing it in a different way.
"That's fine. Just come out and hang out for a bit." Jimin sighed as he sat on the bench next to him, drinking some water before placing the bottle back down on the ground. "You two doing okay?"
"Yeah, what makes you think we aren't?" Tae asks, getting defensive. Jimin quickly eyes him, reading his body language. He knew Taehyung so well - so fucking well that he knew almost immediately when things were taking a toll on him. Things liiiike.. his parents. As a prime example. Jimin knew Taehyung and his parents obviously didn't have the best relationship, and he knew he took things to heart whenever his father got on him about stupid shit [just like he did over that dinner]. Taehyung wasn't one to show emotion much; he liked showing people he was mentally tough and that he could handle whatever came his way. For the most part, it was true. But, Jimin and Namjoon also knew he wasn't always like that, especially when it came to things that mattered the most to him - his family and you. Taehyung hated to admit it but his family's opinion of him was important no matter what. He was hard on himself because he wanted them to be proud. He wanted to actually feel like he had been doing something good for once. He was still longing for that feeling no matter what he said or did. It was a never-ending battle; like a plot with no happy ending in sight.
"I'm just asking." Jimin threw up his hands, showing that he wasn't suggesting anything behind the harmless question.
"We're fine. I know she's been stressed lately because of work and her art."
"Mmm."
"It's funny." Taehyung chuckles at himself.
"What's funny?" Jimin laughed a bit, confused.
"I didn't expect to be caught up in her like this. After Hana, messing around with all these girls. She's my fucking fiancé."
"Yeah and you better not fuck that up." Jimin stands to gather his things.
"You sound like my dad." Tae jokes, even though he was pretty offended.
"I'm sorry, didn't mean to." Jimin instantly apologizes, knowing everyone had been walking on eggshells around Taehyung lately. "She's a good girl, you've got it good."
Taehyung softly smiles at the thought of you, but he wasn't gonna lie, he was hurt by Jimin's statement. Call him sensitive or whatever, but he wasn't feeling the fact that people were constantly looking at him as a fuck up and hinting at it. It seemed to be a reoccurring theme lately. "You ready?" Tae sighs before grabbing his stuff. They get into his car, departing from the gym to make their way to Jimin's so he can get dropped off before Tae heads home. Taehyung replays yesterday's events in his head, which instantly irks him all over again. But, he has such a soft spot for you that he feels terrible for having been too harsh about it. He was still upset, and he wasn't gonna let up on his feelings. But he knew he should have been better about how he approached it. He knew better than that. He's learned to do better.
➤ FLASHBACK
Taehyung excitedly parks his car at the café to surprise you for your pop up today. He had been working endlessly to finish off finals strongly, and he had been so busy that he hadn't really gotten a chance to help you or support you. He felt terrible about it because you were his babygirl and he wanted nothing but to spoil you for all the hardwork you've been putting in.
He creeps up behind you, bouquet of flowers hidden behind his back. "Excuse me, miss." He says lowly near your ear.
"Holy fuck!" You say as he startles you. "Babe, what the hell! Don't do that!" He laughs.
"What's cookin', goodlookin'?" He wiggles his eyebrows, making you chuckle. "These are for you." He smiles toothlessly as he hands you the pretty bouquet. "And your favorite!" He hands you a Mcflurry cup.
You squeal. "Oreo Mcflurry! Aw, thank you baby." You place a quick kiss on his lips. "But don't ever scare me like that!" You playfully hit his chest, causing him to erupt in laughter.
"You should've seen your face."
"Ha-ha, very funny." You rolled your eyes, causing him to pinch your cheeks.
"How's it going?"
"Welp, I'm almost out for the day." You giggle. "I, uh, may have underestimated." You look down at his hoodie, realizing it was one of the hoodies you had made for a previous collection you sold at Jin's. "Waaaow, cute sweater, who made it?"
"Mm, I don't know if you know her. Her name's Y/N."
"Uh huh?" You nod, hand on your hip, waiting to hear more.
"She stands about this tall." He lowers himself close to the ground, causing you to laugh. "Cute, right? She's beautiful, incredibly smart and sexy. Brilliant visual designer and illustrator. Packed with hella attitude." He pretends to ponder on his thoughts. "I could go on about her, really. She's one of a kind."
"Cute. She must feel lucky." You smile.
"I know, I'd feel lucky if I knew me too." You roll your eyes and playfully hit him. "Ah, I'm kidding." He pulls you into a hug. "I keep this sweater in my trunk."
"Oh, so you keep it in your trunk just for emergency wear?" You sarcastically ask as he holds you from behind.
"Yeah, and cause it's the only sweater I'd choose to wear out of the hundreds I own." You smile up at him. "Mhm, not gonna try and win that one." He places a big, sloppy kiss on your cheek before pulling away. "Show me. How can I help my pretty baby today?"
➤ END FLASHBACK
"Hey, I can't stay out late tonight because of the event tomorrow."
"Yeah, I know." Taehyung says softly.
"Please don't drink too much."
"I wooooooon't." He whines with a small sigh, also slightly offended at that statement. He didn't know what it was, maybe it was the fact that his own father painted him in such a negative light that everything seemed off to him lately. Like people were just out to get him or constantly looking down at him and his actions. A personal attack at who he was. It was slowly piling up for him and he wasn't sure how much more of it he could take.
You prepared a quick dinner while he hopped in the shower. You set his plate aside before taking a look at the mail that had come in today.
Bills, bills and more bills.
You sighed to yourself as it felt like you had just paid things off, but clearly not. Moving into Taehyung's wasn't the greatest idea, being that his space was much more expensive than yours. But, he did have the space you needed for your work. There was money left, but you knew it wouldn't last forever. You hated tapping into your savings and whipping out your credit cards because you wanted to keep yourself clean as much as possible. However, that was proven difficult as of late. It was a sacrifice, especially since Taehyung had cut off his mother's help. Taehyung's pride was such a curse sometimes.
You shook your head, already finalizing the fact that you would deal with it later. You had began to set your things aside for the new student event tomorrow morning. You figured you'd get there early to set up and make your table at neat and cute, so you didnt have to worry much about it right now.
Taehyung comes out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, hair slicked back and wet. You turn to face him, your eyes wandering down to his chest and bottom area. God, why was he so beautiful? It wasn't fair. You loved him so much that you could crumble even being upset. He talks a whole lot about you being the death of him, when really, this man is going to be the death of you. Truly. There's no debate about it.
Getting to the bar, you both immediately spot your friends in the corner, a huge tower of beer decorating the center of the table. Jimin is the first to stand, coming towards you two with a huge smile on his face.
"Friends!" Jimin yells. "Drink!" He says, holding up two shot glasses.
"Fuck, man." Taehyung says taking the glass. "We just got here."
"So! Y/N needs to be home early remember?" He watches wide-eyed as you two take the shot and make sour faces at each other.
"Okay, I'm good." You say, being that you were the DD tonight. Taehyung could enjoy himself if he wanted to [to an extent], but you definitely needed to be in tip top shape to be a good role model to those incoming art students tomorrow.
Throughout the night, the bar starts to get packed from end to end, you and your friends staying at the table and keeping to yourselves. You could tell Taehyung was crossing the line of pretty fucking drunk, which somewhat bothered you. You literally just told him to take it easy tonight - just for one night - so you could do what you need to do tomorrow.
"Hey." Jimin comes next to you, swinging his arm over your shoulder like he always does. "One more shot?" You give him a toothless smile. Ugh, why the hell not? Your man was drunk, and Jimin had only been helpful lately. You could at least return the favor by taking a shot with him.
"What are we drinking to?"
"You." He smiles. "Your shop. Your art. It'll only go up from here, yeah?" He rose his shot glass up before clinking it against yours and taking it to the neck.
"Mkay, that does it for me." You chuckle. "Thanks for the shot."
"No problem. You doing okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good." You looked at your watch. "Should probably get out of here soon, but Tae looks like he's enjoying himself. I don't wanna drag him out of here."
"We can just bring him home." You shake your head worriedly.
"I don't wanna leave without him." Jimin chuckles and looks over at Taehyung.
"He'll be okay and you'll be just fine tomorrow. Besides, you can make up all the bullshit in the world to tell the incoming students, they'll believe it either way."
"That's mean." You chuckle.
"Come. Let's dance!" Jimin says, leading the way to the empty space near the table. Everyone gets up to dance, Taehyung slipping himself behind you, whispering sweet nothings in your ear.
"Can I at least get one minute with my lady without Jimin interrupting?" He says in your ear.
"Taehyung." You flatly say, looking back at him.
"That's your mad face." He holds you tightly from behind as he sways you from side to side.
"I'm not mad."
"Mhm." He kisses the back of your head. "Why don't you have fun with me for a little? We'll go home after this." You couldn't even stay mad at him, with that fucking frustratingly handsome face of his. He was definitely drunk though, you could smell the whiskey lingering on his breath as he danced with you for a bit. You let him be, just so you wouldn't trigger anything within drunk Taehyung. Everyone around you was having a good time, the feeling of nostalgia hitting you pretty hard. You missed the days where you could get together and go to parties after a long week of school. Or, when you would tease the fuck out of Taehyung as his fuckbuddy during parties, or at the clubs. You know, before graduation and responsibilities happened.
But as one hour turned into two, and two turned into three, you found yourself getting restless. It was nearing 2AM and you had to be at the school by 8am - even earlier just to set your table up. You made your way to the bathroom, hoping Tae would get the point and start getting himself ready to leave.
Right.
Once you were out the bathroom, he'd realize you had been gone for a little and start saying his goodbye's. He'd realize time got to the best of him. Right?
"It's a fucking good time tonight!" Jimin tells Namjoon, laughing with him as he watches Joon act a fool with his dance moves.
"I'm sure it is, since you've been in Y/N's space the entire night." Taehyung says it jokingly, but he doesn't realize it only comes off that way in his head. Jimin furrows his brows at him, his high quickly dying with Taehyung's unnecessary comment.
"Don't start with all that. Not tonight. Everyone's having a good time--"
"Or what, Jimin?" Taehyung chuckles like the petty ass he can be. "You know it's true. Don't you think it's a little disrespectful to be crossing boundaries?"
"Hey, let's step back for a bit." Jungkook lightly tugs on Taehyung's arm as he hears the conversation going south quickly. But Taehyung breaks from his grip, stepping forward towards Jimin.
"You really think I would do that to you?"
"Haven't you already? Swinging your arms around her and shit, being all angelic--"
"Tae, come on. That's enough. Don't." Namjoon steps in the middle. "Let's go outside to get some air."
"You really wanna make me look that bad in front of my own girl?" Jimin lightly pushes him away, Taehyung getting too into his space.
"Enough." Namjoon shakes his head, aggressively stepping in the way to create distance. Taehyung shakes his head and walks off, the rest of the group watching as he walks. You finish off in the bathroom, assuming Tae was already getting ready to go. However, you realize your assumption of leaving by the time you're back is absolutely incorrect because when you get to the table, Taehyung is nowhere to be seen.
"Where's Tae?" Kook looks at you frazzled, before his eyes begin to pan the room again.
"Look, don't freak out, but him and Jimin just got into it and he walked off."
"What the hell do you mean they got into it and he walked off?"
"It's nothing, Tae is just drunk—" Kook squeezes your wrist and shakes his head.
"No, it's not just nothing because you and I both know how he's been feeling lately." You run your hand through your hair. "What did he say?"
"He just got into it about Jimin getting close to you lately, and how he felt like he was disrespecting boundaries." You sigh heavily.
"Fuck."
"We have an issue." Namjoon comes back from out of the blue. "He's not around."
"What do you mean?! Where did he go?" You run your hand through your hair.
"Okay, let's not panic." Jungkook tries to relax you. "Let me go check the bathrooms." Namjoon nods as he continues to look around the room.
"Please? We should get home." He nods to you before he's off to check for Tae in the bathroom. You stand near the table awkwardly, worry filling you quickly the more time passes.
"Hey, you okay? What can I do?" Hobi squeezes your arm, his face flushed with a red tint from how tipsy he is. You give him a small, reassuring smile and nod to try and keep calm.
"I honestly don't know anymore, but I'll be good. I think. We're just gonna look for him and head home."
"Is Kookie looking in the bathroom?" You nod. At this point, you catch a glimpse of Jungkook coming back alone.
"Jungkook?"
"I'm sorry, I couldn't find him in there. I swear I tried."
"So, where the hell is he?" Jungkook shrugs.
"Lets check around again. I won't leave until we find him."
"Have you tried to call him?" You had already beaten Yoongi's question, calling Taehyung's phone only to see his phone vibrating and ringing on the fucking table. "Hm, okay. Maybe not."
"Fuck." You snatch Taehyung's phone from the table. "Is he serious right now? It's about to be 2:30AM. How the fuck can he get lost at this time?"
"Y/N just go home, we'll find him and bring him home." Jimin says, coming back from roaming around the place.
"No, I'm not leaving here without him."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen." He says, looking at you in the eye. Although he was pretty fucking pissed, he couldn't help but worry about him either. No matter what, that was still his bestfriend. He didn't want anything to happen to him.
"It's not your fault."
"We need to check around the neighborhood." Jungkook suddenly comes back and grabs your arm. You follow him, Yoongi, Hobi, Namjoon and Jimin outside of the bar, the cold hitting your skin harshly.
"Let's split." Namjoon says. Jimin and Hobi split, Namjoon and Yoongi sticking together to go down a different path. You kept yourself close to Jungkook, knowing there were all sorts of drunk ass men out at this hour and you weren't helping wearing a tiny ass skirt and a deep cut shirt.
"Cutiepie, let me come holla!" A dude yells as he tries to swing his arm around your waist. Jungkook easily pushes him off, glaring at him.
"Back the fuck up." He spits out, your bestfriend coming to your rescue amongst the sea of men you're encountering on the sidewalk right now. He throws his jacket over your shoulders, hoping to shield you from them and the cold. "Your outfit." Jungkook frowns, a little worried.
"I mean, I didn't expect to lose Tae tonight." Once you had gotten to a quieter part of the street, you come from behind to walk beside him. "Where the hell could he have gone?" You whine. You're more worried for his safety and wellbeing right now more than anything and all you wanted to do was find him and bring him home, even though you were slightly worrying about yourself and how things would go tomorrow. You could give him an earful later. It could wait.
"He couldn't have gone far." You both continue down the street, heading towards your car, hoping he may be around the area. Jimin calls to check in, saying him and Hobi hadn't caught sight of him yet, and the same thing goes for Yoongi and Joon. You almost want to cry when you don't see Taehyung near your car, but Jungkook ends up walking further down towards the park near your parking spot. "Y/N! Here!" He calls out, running towards an individual slumped over on their knees on a bench. "Taehyungie?" Jungkook sits next to him and shakes him a bit.
"Shit dude, I just kept walking then I suddenly had no idea where I was at." He drunkily says as you sit next to him and sigh heavily.
"No one said you had to do that, Tae."
"I just needed some air."
"Yeah and look where that got you, it's close to 3AM." You respond, irritated.
"Y/N." Jungkook says softly, shaking his head at you as if he were signaling for you to quit with your attitude. "Let's go back to the car." Jungkook watches him stand up and wobble a bit, but eases up when he realizes Taehyung is capable of walking himself to the car. You three get back safely, letting the others know that you had found him before driving Jungkook back towards the club so he can meet with everyone else. You quickly thank him for his support before driving off to head home.
The car is incredibly cold, and silent.
"Love, I'm sorry. I just needed air and got lost." He breaks the silence.
"I see that." You say softly as you drive home, keeping your eyes glued to the road in front of you.
3:23AM.
"Please don't be mad." He gives your thigh gentle squeeze. "I just got a little into my head tonight." You sighed, gently removing his hand from your thigh.
"Taehyung, I'm your fiancé, I'm doing this with you and only you. Do you even understand how worried I was? You just walked off, without your phone. Without saying anything to me. Just cause you got in your head for no reason."
"I'm sorry." He repeats at a whisper. You don't say anything else for the rest of the drive home. You silently park the car and head to the apartment, Taehyung sluggishly following behind you. He knows you're bothered, knowing it's closing to 3:30AM and you had an early morning. Honestly, he didn't realize how drunk he was until he had gotten himself into that argument with Jimin then got lost, especially without his phone. The fact that he had made you worry and stress like that made him feel terrible, especially after these past few days. You could have easily left, but you didn't leave without him even if it was this late. He instantly just wanted to cuddle you and tell you how sorry he was.
You quietly get ready for bed and line your things up by the door, just so it would be an easy quick and grab as you head out in the morning. You slip yourself into the sheets, Taehyung following shortly after he gets himself ready for bed. He shuts off all the lights and grabs himself a water bottle to sit by his nightstand before slipping in next to you.
"I love you." He whispers against your ear, wrapping his arms around you. But you don't respond. He peeks over to see your eyes shut, silently sighing to himself as he nuzzled his head against the nape of your neck. He knows you aren't fast asleep yet, and it hurts him that you hadn't said it back. You both just knew exactly how to love each other well, but also push each other's buttons. But, maybe, it was true - he was just fucking up left and right lately. Enough for you to go to bed without saying 'I love you' back.
