Mr. Gamer, how do you host cocktail parties? Or parties in general?

Once I have a bigger place (and friends ._.) I really want to have parties and host activities and just DO things but I'm also a chronic overthinker and do better with some sort of script, you know? So what makes a good host and a good party?

beloved i am so humbled that you asked 🙏

I'm multiple years out of practice, so I do want to first direct you to the many guides by actual, real professionals that will give you really useful tips and tricks for pulling off the event. You should check those out for the heavy hitting advice.

In my own experience, I think one of the most important things is making your guests feel like you had them in mind from the beginning. This will show naturally through the care and attention with which you prepared, how you feed them, how you introduce them to each other - there's a great post about how to get people talking to each other and make them feel welcome that i absolutely recommend reading.

But anyway, let's talk hosting cocktail parties! This is a (not-so-quick) run-through of general expectations for both you and your guests, and well as little things to keep in mind.

The Basics

Cocktail parties are for 10-20 people with a guest list made up of a mix of your close friends and the acquaintances that you wish were your close friends. It's less intimate than a dinner party, but more conversation-friendly than a house party. They're also a great choice if you want to feel fancy~

I will say, as far as hosting and attending different types of parties goes, cocktail parties are my favorite, but theyre not exactly the easiest. They share the Come Up With A Whole Ass Menu type of stress that dinner parties do, but with more people and no structured schedule. Also, cocktail parties are on the expensive side (reckon it's the liquor for going in them cocktails what does it...).

At a cocktail party, the host will have less time to socialize, because they will be busy keeping track of food and drinks. In a surprise to no one who knows me irl, I'm not actually all that social, so this is honestly preferable to me. The reason I like hosting cocktail parties is that they allow me to give the people I invited an environment to spend time with each other and feel special.

If you want something similarly calm but with less stress and more freedom for you, the host, to socialize, you could always go for a fancy-ified potluck type of thing! That's always going to be more casual, but it can still be nice :) If you choose to do that, just clean your house, give some guidance on what kinds of food to bring, and make sure you have enough chairs. People will have a lovely time.

Picking a Date and Time

Set a 3 hour window for the event. Guests will come and go as they please, but you can expect most people to stay for between 1 and 2 hours. Traditionally, cocktail hour (note that thats "hour," singular) was before dinner, but after-dinner cocktail parties are common nowadays. Make sure it doesnt completely cover the range of 5pm to 7pm - some overlap is to be expected, but there needs to be at least some amount of time for your guests to have dinner, since you wont be serving a full meal.

That being said, you also don't want it to go too late into the evening both because it gets tiring and because you don't want people getting shitfaced, and a late party implies more drinking. (Yes, I'm aware that cocktails are the point, but there's a difference between "come over and drink with us until 11pm on Friday" and "come over on Saturday for exactly two drinks and be out of my house by 9." youre just gonna have to trust me on this.) There are other ways to discourage getting drunk - more on this later.

Send invitations at least three weeks in advance, and request RSVPs. Follow up with people who haven't responded by one week out from the party date. Be straightforward- you're not being pushy, you have to know how many people to prepare for! People are going to understand that. A basic follow-up script is something like "Hey, [Name]! Will you [and Plus One if relevant] be able to make it on Saturday? I'm trying to figure out how much food to make."

My ideal cocktail party is on a Saturday evening from 6:30 to 9. If I'm the one hosting, a Saturday gives me more time to prepare than a Friday would, and as either host OR guest, I appreciate having Sunday to recover.

Themes

Not required. Sometimes fun, sometimes unexpectedly restrictive. It can be helpful for guests to know the vibes ahead of time, like what to wear or bring to share, but it can also put unnecessary pressure on the host to come up with some clever way to tie it in with the food and drinks.

If your party is celebrating a specific holiday, however, then you have a default theme already and you should acknowledge that. If, for example, I were hosting a cocktail party on August 1st to celebrate All Southern Hemisphere Horses' Birthdays, I'd want to make sure I'm observing the occasion with nods to things horses in the southern hemisphere are known to like - the obvious examples are Julio Cortázar or liberation theology as understood by Leonardo Boff, but there's no need to be reductive.

Menu and Drinks

Guests will probably know not to expect dinner, but you still need to feed them. Ask about dietary preferences and allergies when you request the RSVPs. Even if no one says they have an allergy, avoid serving peanuts and shellfish. This isn't a hard and fast rule, I just like the extra insurance (and also happen to have a shrimp allergy).

Don't have too complicated of a menu, and only serve one or two things you actually have to cook - everything else should be stuff that's either pre-made or easily assembled. This for your own sanity.

Pick things that are small and easy to eat while standing or walking. If you're setting out a cheese platter, make sure you have multiple knives and enough bread and crackers. Pre-slice any cured meats and any cheeses harder than a medium cheddar, but you can leave soft things untouched.

Believe it or not, cocktails are the centerpiece of a cocktail party. Having one or two drinks pre-mixed will make things very easy. Classic and simple examples are the martini, manhattan, and negroni, but it's also cool to have a signature cocktail that's a little more fun and showy, if you have the tools and skill to make it. If you want to serve something made with tonic/soda water, obviously don't mix that part in ahead so it doesnt lose its fizz. Consider having some wine on hand, too, but dont worry too much about pairings. Also, it goes without saying, but have a nonalcoholic mocktail available, too. There are lots of recipes online. I've had some really good ones that make use of green tea, which is clever - it gives it the botanical vibe of like a really good gin.

If you're doing this in the evening and want to get even fancier, consider cutting off the cocktails towards the end of the night and breaking out some digestifs. (This is traditionally more of a dinner party thing, but unless youre hanging w the upper crust of the upper crust, no one will care about the breach in sacred social protocol.) The best vibes for fall/winter/late summer are going to come from distilled or fortified wines like cognac and sherry, bitter liqueurs, or some kind of fernet. For summer, limoncello is really fucking good and very refreshing. Extra bonus: you can make limoncello yourself :)

Keep in mind that while it's your responsibility as the host to make sure people are feeling safe socially, it's also your responsibility to keep them physically safe. Keep an eye on how much people are drinking. Be willing to cut people off or help call rides. Make sure people have designated drivers, and don't let the designated drivers have more than like one drink.

Vibes!!!!

Music should be loud enough that people with approximately average hearing won't be straining to hear it, but not so loud that it can overpower low voices. Personally, I always prefer when the music is something that doesn't have lyrics bc lyrics can make it harder to concentrate on a conversation, but that's a personal preference. The exception is Ireland's very own beloved 90s band The Cranberries. I don't know why, it just is.

Table and floor lamps are great for lighting - it keeps things more grounded and personal and isn't too dim. If you want to use candles, be careful with scents. Similarly, if you typically use oil diffusers or air fresheners in your house, consider moving them to a side room or turning them off during the party.

Also, consider the season (beyond just putting up twinkle lights and serving gingerbread in winter). In the fall or winter, a party starting after 6:30 but ending around 9 is going to feel really cozy and intimate and will probably last the whole time. If anything, things will pick up a little later. Putting out some kind of card game for low-energy communal entertainment will be appreciated in the last hour. In the spring and summer, on the other hand, a party at the same time will feel more casual, and people may start to leave once it's getting dark. (There are cases where this doesn't apply, such as if it's June in Finland.)

Details like how you arrange furniture in the space will make a difference, even if people don't notice it outright. Having a gathering of close friends? Just make sure there are enough seats for everyone in the same communal area, and you're set! If, on the other hand, you're bringing together people who don't know each other very well, setting up your space to encourage congregating in a few smaller areas instead of one large one might make it easier for people to have conversations comfortably - it's easier to get to know one or two people than 10 people at once.

Never invite more people than can safely fit into the place where the party is happening, but don't expect everyone you invite to be able to come. Have enough seats for people, but be aware that cocktail parties are for mingling, so it's important that there's room to move around freely.

How to Discourage Drinking Too Much

There are a handful of things you can do to gently suggest your guests keep their shit together:

Pre-mixed cocktails will control how strong the drinks are. Make sure water is easily available such as by placing multiple pitchers in the main room so people don't have to go out of their way to find it. Put the snacks front and center and start serving the food before the cocktails (food of any kind helps your body process alcohol more quickly). Don't schedule it to go too late into the evening. Cut off the liquor a little while before the party is scheduled to end - you can offer low alcohol content wine or beer as an alternative as it gets later. Don't have the party close to a big partying holiday like Halloween, NYE, or, if you're usamerican, the 4th of July.

Something to note: Digestifs are really high in alcohol content, so they'll seem counter-intuitive if you're trying to reduce consumption later in the evening. Keep in mind that they're often served in a very small amounts (the correct serving of Underberg, a popular kräutorlikör, is only 20ml, which is less than an ounce), but if you want to be extra cautious, you could try a low-ABV amaro, like amaro montenegro.

Other Random Stuff

You can use paper plates. No one will judge you.

You don't have to serve the cocktails in their most traditional glasses. Again, no one but the unethically wealthy will judge you.

Martini glasses are really easy to spill out of - watch out if you have carpet.

Clean your house really well beforehand. Yes, it's partly to make a good impression, but also it's WAY easier to clean up after the party if the space was already clean.

If you have cats or dogs, do your best to clear out any fur while you're cleaning, for the sake of removing allergens. You can always use a vacuum, but also if you put on a rubber glove and just swipe your hand firmly across the upholstery, it'll be surprisingly effective.

In preparing for the party, your guests will almost definitely look up tips on what they're supposed to bring to a cocktail party, and every website will tell them to bring bread or wine. They'll either bring one of those things, or they'll decide to be ~original~ and bring a cheese platter. They also may ask you directly what you'd like them to bring, so consider having some ideas of things that would add to your spread but wouldn't have a marked absence if you didn't have them - seasonal fruit, extra crackers, idk.

OOOOH ok so 15 is interesting bc back in the day, i wanna say late 2019-early 2020? I actually had like unique crimson/corrupted versions of p much all my main ocs at the time. But all that art is pretty old, and im not rly using the headcanons that its all based on BUUUT i do think they will influence my answer. Im just gonna give general answers for each biome infection (and also lunar stuff bc. I think theyre also very very good for turning characters Eeeevil) n then rattle off some more interesting specific cases

Corrupt- i get the feeling a corruption infection is kind of like being a zombie but a little to the right. A lot of brain fog and not really all there mentally. Wanna bite. Dunno why. Wanna dig holes. Wanna shove people in holes. Also seems like itd be an airborne thing, but not in the way of like. Single celled bacteria invisible to the human eye, but like spores and poisonous fungi and that kinda thing. This kinda feels like a nice default thag i think a lot of my ocs could succumb to tbh, but i dont think any are particularly interesting EXCEPT. For Maxwell. Bc. Ive got 3 guide ocs. Scott, whos like your beginning prehm guide whos got pretty good all around knowledge but doesnt rly delve deeper into any specific terrarian aspect. N then Zach, whos like the guide at the endgame, knows just so much insider knowledge abt the lunar amd solar cults yes i made a solar cult, hes the "what's next?" To scott's "what is?". N then Maxwell is the guide right into hardmode, has extensive knowledge about the hallow and world evils, esp corruption. And like. He would absolutely knoe about how corruption spreads and how it infects people and he'd know exactly how to prevent it. So if he got corrupted its bc he WANTED. To be corrupted. For one reason or another. Large scale revenge? Mad scientist research? Who knows.

Crimson- a crimson infection is just straight bloodlust and violence babey! Just visceral instincts overriding all. Kill kill kill bite bite bite and whatnot. I think to get a crimson infection, it would be really super easy if you're not careful. Like a bite that breaks the skin could do it. But yknow if ur in full armor ur basically fine. More potent than corruption, harder time spreading to those who are prepared. It is for this reason i think Vexx, Dynamo and Crow especially all could be taken over w crimson just so easily- all are pretty reckless, and crow's poking around in there often already for research purposes. Fuck now im compelled to draw like super ultra crimson crow or some1 but its soooo late rn

Hallow- lots of "warped sense of justice" kinda stuff. No harming of wildlife, such a crime is punishable by death, spreading "good" chaos by force. Murder is okay 👍 I think mattie would succumb to this p easily. He seems like the type to hang around the hallow anyway and yknow, hes a bit naive and gullible. Very strong heart + easily malleable mind which is a winning combo for a hallow infection. Same thing w Val and Izzy who im aware ive never mentioned but all you need to know abt them for this is that they're teenagers with very strong opinions. OH ALSO yall've seen that episode of Gumball "The Joy" right? The one with the outbreak of a joy virus that turns everyone into very happy zombies w big dilated eyes and pastel rainbow bloodshed. Thats also what im picturing. Good shit

Ok rapidfire lunar stuff lets go

Solar- similarly violent and aggressive as crimson but more strategic rather than purely instinctual. Affects my melee ocs the most (terra, dynamo)

Vortex- alien worms and parasites In Ur Gutz!! That make you diseased before taking over to give you the planning abilities to strategically take out the others in your life one by one (pixie, vivian, crow)

Nebula- BECOME PART OF THE HIVE MIND TODAY AND MOVE LIKE A WEIRD PUPPET AND ACT LIKE A LEECH (mage) (mattie, isaac, not izzy bc shes like 15 and perfect)

Stardust- alters your brain matter in such a way that you just sooo want to live in space and ur gonna take EEEVERYONE w you by FORCE bc isnt it so PRETTY (vexx, tbh i think isaac already has a bit of this in him already. Hes fuckin weird. Again not val bc shes 15 and perfect)

Okok one more interesting thing: Astral Infection! Including it bc crow canonically (at least in the current cal multiplayer run) did get a pretfy bad astral infection..infection, basically from breathing in all the Particles. All the snow and dirt n shit. And it all kinda gathered in his lungs and started burning them from the inside out, and it just outwardly looked like a high ER-worthy fever and bad cough, still scary but like. Not "i think an alien disease is eating away at him from the inside" scary. Thankfully his besties stopped it from getting worse, bc otherwise it wouldve completely burned holes thru his chest and killed him, his body just kind of letting out more toxic fumes until hes like. Zombified or smth. Im still new to cal and also idk the full lore </3

Sapnap is exactly who Tommy needs right now, in more ways than one.

While it’s nice he knows there are people in Tommy’s corner (like Quackity and to a certain extent, Phil and Sam) it’s even better for him to have someone at his side and matching his pace. He needs someone who sees how strong he is without forcing everything onto his shoulders. Sapnap is the perfect person for this role.

It’s said multiple times, they teamed up and won against Dream before. They’ve been on opposite sides before and each view the other as a strong opponent and acknowledge each other’s individual PVP skills. This is good for their longterm goal, but there’s something even more important than just the fight. It’s how much Sapnap cares for Tommy as a person, and understands who he is beyond the battles.

The reason Sapnap checked on Tommy in the first place was because Tommy had been talking to himself in the house rather loudly and Sapnap was concerned. {32:28 - SAPNAP: “Dude I was just walking around and I heard you freaking out in here. What’s up with you?} This line partnered with his protectiveness of Tommy during the actual breakout really pushes the fact that he’s well aware of how much danger Tommy is currently in, even if he doesn’t know everything Dream did during exile.

When asked to take off his armor to prove Tommy could trust him, Sapnap didn’t hesitate. He took his armor off and kept his weapons away and stayed level-headed as tommy panicked and shouted. He listened to Tommy’s rambling story and assured him he wasn’t crazy and opened up about his own interaction with Dream in Snowchester.

34:00- SAPNAP: Tommy, Tommy chill. I believe you dude, okay? I saw Dream also, after he got out. I took his armor.

TOMMY: What happened? What- you did?

SAPNAP: I took his armor, you know his old armor he used to wear? I took em- I took his armor... he came to me.. he just tried to act like we were just friends again. (...) TOMMY: What did you do?

SAPNAP: I didn’t give it to him! I refused, Tommy. And you know what he did? He started threatening me.

Sapnap didn’t trust Dream’s “I’m gonna run off and hide away and not bother anyone” idea, and in the end he got to see Dream’s true intentions. He’s well aware of the threat Dream poses now, not just to Tommy but to the entire server.

Sapnap, still remaining under control and keeping Tommy relaxed, once again makes it clear he believes what Tommy is saying about Dream and that they’re on the same page.

Tommy recognizes he has a solid ally and uses plural terms when talking about Tubbo’s old house. Saying “our safehouse” and immediately opening up and entrusting someone else after realizing theyre on the same page. He even thanks Sapnap for believing him.

Sapnap sets a goal, telling Tommy about the vow he made to kill Dream. But he doesn’t push to include Tommy in that right away, he makes sure Tommy is up to the task before anything.

37:04- TOMMY: ...all this exile stuff I’m so nearly done with. I’ve got my hotel, it’s going great- *snaps* just like that. I’m fucking- it’s all gone.

SAPNAP: Look Tommy, even if you’re not up to it-

TOMMY: No Sapnap this isn’t just your- this is us alright? This is our mission.

SAPNAP: Alright, okay. I’m just making sure you’re up for it.

He’s assuring that he’ll go through with the plan no matter what but continues to make sure that mentally Tommy is prepared for what they’re going to be doing. They find their footing and Tommy’s in a clearer mindset to actually start planning things rather than just panic hiding in obsidian.

At this point Tommy is genuinely smiling, he feels safe and is gleefully reminiscing over the past. His demeanor has totally shifted from when he first went into the house.

Tommy doesn’t need people cheering for him from the sidelines or promising to be there when he asks, he needs someone who is going to be right at his side with no hesitation. At the end of the day, Sapnap is the best fit for that roll.

Sapnap already had his mind set on killing Dream. He’s not joining Tommy just because he feels obligated, but because they have a shared goal and strongly understand each other’s reasonings.

Sapnap grounds Tommy, and Tommy gives Sapnap a purpose. If Tommy is going to run head-first into danger he needs someone who won’t hold him back but will still check on him and make sure the plan is finished even if he has to step out. He needs as an ally like Sapnap now more than he ever has.

"Hahaha! theyre so cute!" you exclaimed while crouching in the middle of a group of dogs in Inazuma catching the attention of your boyfriend, the almighty, definitely fierce and not cute, General Gorou.

you have been dating for 3 years, but became even more closer since the removing of the vision hunt decree.

While the resistance was still active, the both of you didnt interact with each other that much and you both dont know much about each other because you were just too busy

now that the vision hunt decree is over, you both get to go on dates in Inazuma and catch up

and you learnt more than you could have expected.

Gorou looks at his beautiful lover in the middle of a group of dogs. 'How did he became so lucky to have such a beautiful lover that supported him and waited for a long time for him' he was in awe as he looked at you.

He then comes closer to you and the group of dogs with excitement in his eyes as he thinks of how fun and cute it will be if the two of you just calmly played with the dogs together (oh what a pure imagination). When he gets closer, one of the dogs noticed him and stared at him silently. Getting confused, Gorou questioned while tilting his head "is anything wrong...?". The dog flicked his head at you and back at him while barking cutely. You were gonna say how cute the both were, a cute puppy boyfriend interacting with a cute puppy, isnt that just cute? but the look on Gorou's face was full of shook. his skin went dramatically pale but then changed to normal in a second, you thought it wasnt a big deal, but now... karma's a bitch

you were so confused. You knew that your boyfriend could actually understand dogs, but why are they arguing? you dont get why...

the dog looked at you and barked as if calling its friends. And in a second, the group of dogs jumped on you, hugging you, licking you, everything while the other dog flicked his head to Gorou with a devilish smirk and then walked closer to you.

The dog barked 2 times, and you just looked at it confused until he jumps on you and licks your lips and rubbed his cheek on yours. How cute... except for the horrified look on Gorou's face. He went pale and his eyes turned blank. You then got up carefully, trying your best not too hurt the dogs and went straight to Gorou.

"H-hey... honey? Gorou? Gorou? are you- akh" you got cut off as he hugs you and pulls you back home.

At home you two just sat on the couch, him cuddling you with a sulky face. Your know asking for the nth time "Gorou? Spoilers Galor ...... it is time.... for me to do what ive been considering for quite some time

this is my arguement... on why, whether romantically or platonically, i think you should ship or bro-ship,...... Childe.... and Albedo

HERE ME OUT I SWEAR PLEASE IT MAKES SENSE IN MY HEAD- JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE! rarepair shipping is painful- join me

OR DONT EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO GIVE THE SHIP A CHANCE I DO A LOT OF ANALYSIS ON ALBEDO AND CHILDE’S CHARACTERS INDIVIDUALLY, AS WELL AS THE FATUI, THEYRE METHODS, AND THE RELATION WITH MONDSTADT- AND OTHER STUFF- just- if you like reading different analysis-es of the game or ship material or anything-

please just consider skimming it possibly-

so for the first section of my argument, i will cover why this is a largely feasible possibility, so let’s set the stage

- Childe is from Snezhnaya, and he is shown to have a large amount of ties to his home, including but not limited to; his family, ice fishing, and just a large number of nostalgic references in his voice lines.

- Because of this it’s a pretty common occurrence that he finds himself feeling homesick, as with many of the other Fatui.

- This is why he, like many of the other Fatui, so frequently visit and camp within Dragonspine, where the cold snowy atmosphere serves to remind them of home and the things they left behind.

- also in his birthday letter, it says he canonically visits Dragonspine, but explaining it this way gives it feeling

- so considering that he would be in Dragonspine relatively often, and given the large number of Fatui camps in there regardless, it’s pretty clear he’d have heard of Albedo. So onto Albedo (unfortunately i wasnt there for his event so i dont have as much fuel, but it is what it is)

- there’s a few things that need to be asked first- It’s pretty clear that Albedo must have some interaction with the Fatui given the sheer number of them that camp in Dragonspine. Evidentially, he’s still alive so the question is why? and there’s a few possible explanations for this.

- He just sneaks around a lot or avoids them (this i think is unlikely, as it would limit his actions while conducting experiments as well as the places where he’d be able to conduct them, which isn’t a big deal, but when there are other options I don’t think this is the one he’d pick) - He just pulls a traveler and kills them (i don’t think he would do this except for as a last resort, he’s rather disconnected from any sense of empathy yes, but his time is better spent elsewhere. If it comes to that, it comes to that and he will, but he wouldn’t do it as his first option) (also i dont use geo characters much so idk how good he’d be at breaking their shields in this case) - The Fatui don’t bother or attack him out of their own choice

- i think the third is the most likely, which sounds dumb but hear me out.

- something that is stressed time and time again during the mondstadt archon quest is the fact that nobody wants to increase the always present strain on diplomatic relations between Mondstadt and Snezhnaya. - Sure the Fatui do not care very much about this and have many ways to get around this. Signora attacking Venti (technically not a diplomat, and by disappearing she had plausible deniability; traveler’s words against her own, and really both traveler and Venti weren’t supposed to survive that, hence “leave no trace”), or the Fatui constantly attacking the traveler, (who’s canonically travelling alone with only Paimon, always on the move and encountering many unfamiliar dangers, not hard to clear up) - However despite this, I still believe that Albedo’s safety(and by extent that of Sucrose and Timeus) on Dragonspine is maintained by a mixture of political agreement, situational convenience, and Albedo’s own actions

- its difficult for this to work but i believe it’s the most likely answer, combining all three possibilities that i mentioned above. - Albedo is an official Knight of Favonius, so his death would cause a pretty dramatic commotion, and since he’s been in Dragonspine for as long as he has, if he was found dead outside of his lab- or suddenly disappeared, the first person to blame would be the Fatui.

- “But Flurp! what about the stuff you mentioned earlier, with Senora’s attack and the Fatui always going after the traveler?”

- context is key. The traveler is a traveler, and Venti was a necessity to achieve their goal. The traveler is also a huge threat to what they are trying to do, since the Fatui have probably heard of their accomplishments. Them attacking Venti was inevitable, no matter the strain it would cause. The fact that the traveler was there as well was merely coincidence in my opinion

- again “leave no trace” means the intent was that both the Traveller and Venti weren’t meant to survive. This is important because if the traveler disappeared, they would have vanished shortly after finishing what they had to do in mondstadt and thered be no reason to suspect anything had happened to them, just that they had moved onto Liyue.

- Venti would pose risk, but again, the pros outweighed any risk it could have posed to their relations.

- with the Fatui regularly attacking the Traveler, again, that’s easy to clear up and would be difficult to pin on the Fatui, assuming how long it would take to realize they were gone (because despite helping so many people, its still natural to assume they’ve just travelled elsewhere)

- Albedo on the other hand, is technically a legal official, because of his high rank in the knights. He is also only ever really found in Dragonspine and Mondstadt the city. And he is well familiar with the dangers of Dragonspine, so if he were to die there it would be assumed to be either at the hands of the Fatui, or one of his own experiments.

- Thus attacking him is very high risk(unlike the traveler), and since he has nothing to do with their plans, low reward(unlike Venti).

- So most likely he doesn’t needlessly interact with the Fatui, but should an experiment need to expand into the space of one of their camps, it’s likely he would need some kind of documentation to do so. At the same time, Albedo himself would also not be able to harm the Fatui who frequent the mountain. I TOOK WAY TO LONG TO EXPLAIN THAT UGGGGHHHHHHH anyways

- So set the stage, Childe is visiting Dragonspine, right? And he hears from whichever Fatui Camp he happens to stop in about the one Knight of Favonius that they keep seeing around Dragonspine, the one who just last week came to them with a stack of documents saying they would have to move their camp, it’s annoying but they have orders not to attack him.

- and then there’s Childe, who’s been living in Liyue, surrounded by people who basically fear Dragonspine as if its some kind of deadzone, and he just assumed that for anyone not from Snezhnaya, thats exactly what it was. He assumed nobody but the Fatui would dare even visit there, let alone be there as frequently as whoever this person was.

- And he’s got to be pretty important for there to be orders not to attack him, right? - cue Childe’s unique brand of curiosity, so he asks more, apparently the fellow has a geo vision, and had been spotted taking down or even just lurking by a number of Dragonspine’s dangers as though it was merely routine - cue flashback to when he first met the traveler, instantly hesitant, hostile, and potentially even afraid towards him as soon as he realized he was Fatui, even before revealing himself as a harbinger.

- so what was it about this guy that made him so convinced he could walk into a Fatui camp alone, order them around, and still walk out alive. Even Childe could admit how underhanded the Fatui were at times, their true orders could have been anything

- He’s not just going to leave now, no. So he asks more questions and figures out that they did at one point scout out his lab while the Knight was out, and give him the location. He’s a harbinger, what are they gonna say “sorry sir, can’t tell ya” no, these bitches see him with the same amount of fear they’d have for Dotorre or Scaramouche or La Signora or any of the others- you don’t just tell a harbinger “no”

- So anyways Childe decides to check it out

- in the case that Albedo’s mid experiment in his lab when this happens, he’ll probably assume it’s a Knight, since the Fatui haven’t tried anything in quite some time and would just send off a quick “I am in the middle of an experiment right now, I would prefer not to be disturbed” - and Childe would laugh at his voice because let’s be honest, he thinks of himself as a Chad and it just sounds “weak” to him, and then the scenario leads into what would happen even if he wasnt mid-experiment

and now a look into Albedo’s perspective

- let’s assume that the Knights heard about the Traveler’s role in what happened in Liyue, since it’s kind of common knowledge that Childe was the one who did it, and the traveler doesn’t exactly try to hide that he fought Childe. So considering how often the knights and the Fatui clash, and what happened with Signora, they would likely ask the traveler about it, in order to be better prepared, and for that same reason i feel like the traveler would tell them some of it.

- so in this situation, it’s likely that Albedo would recognize him and likely know an amount of his combat abilities, and the thing with the fake seals of permission/Osial, but I don’t think the Traveler would have given told any more than that

- so here’s Albedo, surrounded by Fatui camps, knowing that he knows more about this Harbinger than the other thinks he does and assuming that Childe knows more about him himself, but just how much does he know.

- it’s the first time one of the Fatui has come to his lab in- he doesn’t know how long (other than the occasional instance of a wounded member risking the encounter in a moment of desperation. He’s observed that those who wield hydro have never been present in any of these instances, and are most likely designated as healers, but he isn’t in the best position to find out.) - and the fact that the first Fatui to come to his camp(out of anything other than necessity) is a Harbinger, is certainly very off putting, as he knows that Childe most certainly has the ability to change the orders of the Fatui around him whose cooperation with him is something that he recognizes as very fragile

- and he knows it’s unlikely, in the back of his mind he keeps recalling that this specific Harbinger is the one who resurrected a dead god for the purpose of destroying a city (flashback to the famous “if I destroy Mondstadt” line) but he reminds himself that it’s highly improbable and thus illogical to jump to that conclusion, but he is nonetheless very on edge with Childe’s presence

- However, as with the rest of the Fatui, his hands are legally tied, and unless Childe moves to attack him, any move he makes would only serve to reflect on the rest of the knights

- As such neither would attack the other in this scenario, though Childe would very much want to, and Albedo would very much be prepared to. - and both of these people are very observant (Albedo in the general sense and Childe in the ‘reading body language for combat’ sense) so both of them are completely aware of that, though Albedo would probably acknowledge that it may just be a result of his own paranoia

- However, unless Childe has orders otherwise, he tends to approach interactions with a more amiable attitude, extending his hand and introducing himself as “Childe,” less flamboyant than normal, because yes he’s extra, but not an idiot, he’s not gonna say “hey girlie, hold still” when the guy obviously has his hand tensed like that, “discretely” ready to reach for whats assumed to be a weapon, a melee one based on the position, sword or polearm probably

- Albedo, isn’t really one for pleasantries though, he has a number of things he still needs to do, and he does not want this Harbinger in or nearby his camp. “I’m aware” he says, giving his full attention, so as not to be caught off guard, and to get this over as quickly as possible. “I assume you have some purpose behind this visit. I am rather busy at the moment, so i would prefer that we keep this interaction brief.”

- and Childe is a little shit who still doesn’t know how to associate violence and hostility with any kind of bad vibes so he just laughs and holds up his hands “relax relax, I’m not here on business, no need to be on edge, right?”

- But Childe has a tendency while speaking to, knowingly or unknowingly, give his words a rather ominous tone. That and the fact that Albedo is in his lab, one of few places in Dragonspine where any misfortune that might befall him could be pinned on his own experiments keeps him from letting down his guard just yet.

HOWEVER i cant do dialogue... and this isn’t technically a fanfiction so i can summarize-

- Childe is basically all like “so why the shit are you in dragonspine comrade? i thought yall hated it”

- and albedo is all “experiments and this is where my lab is, is ” but like- not key details cuz he isnt going to reveal stuff to the fatui

-and Childe basically be like “ why up here, isnt there other places,” cuz he legit doesn’t get it. He gets that his mindset isn’t the norm, so he’d assume Albedo would want to do anything to avoid Dragonspine and its dangers like what seems to be the norm for what most people hes interacted with have generally agreed

- and Albedo says some flowery words for like oh “In the pursuit of knowledge if one allows themselves to be dissuaded by potential dangers, then they will find it quite difficult to progress beyond that which is already known”

- which, is important cuz it reflects Childe’s mindset on getting stronger, so he’s like yeah, checks out, and being the extroverted shit he is, he has the guts to ask “aren’t you gonna ask why im in dragonspine?” or something because honestly he likes talking about himself, and thats a topic that doesnt have to do with the fatui so it’s an easy way to make conversation.

- and Albedo, who has by now slightly relaxed just enough to resume preparing the experiment he was preparing before Childe came in. and all passive aggressively is like “The same as the rest of the Fatui, most likely. Now if you don’t mind I do have a number of experiments to conduct and I’m afraid it can get rather dangerous, so it would be best that you take your leave now”

- and Childe gets the message that he’s essentially being told to fuck off but he’s also cheeky as shit and absolutely loves to test his luck so he’d be all “I thought you said not to be dissuaded by potential dangers” sounding all proud of himself for using the other’s words against him

- and Albedo doesn’t have time for this so he just turns back towards Childe, same tone and same face as before, and repeats “it would best that you take your leave”

- Now Childe doesn’t see this as a challenge persay, but he sees how easily it can turn into one, and speaks the two cliche words “make me”

- but Albedo is also a little shit and just turns to resume his experiment, letting out a sigh “Stay if you’d like. I didn’t consider this possibility but I may have to request my lab be made off limits to the Fatui. A shame, I didn’t plan to return to Mondstadt for quite some time”

- and Childe, he’s decently smart- and he knows a number of things, 1 the other harbingers are gonna be pissed if they find out he caused more work for them again, 2 this individual is interesting and he very much wants the opportunity to fight them in the future, and 3 he’s not involved in politics and should Albedo follow through, the Harbingers wouldn’t give 2 shits if he asked them to try and get the change reversed.

- and so he leaves, but he’ll be back

- Albedo’s threat may have given him the upper hand for now, but it also served as a challenge he wouldn’t forget. - of course it’s not really that big a deal though, just if he’s ever in Dragonspine again and there’s nothing nearby to kill, he’d keep it in mind, and hey, best case scenario he can get more information to contribute to the Fatui

OKAY

- so now that Childe is gone and Albedo is able to reflect on the interaction, at first he’s just relieved nothing bad happened

- within the following day he reflects once again, deciding that the Harbinger most likely wasn’t lying about his intentions, he truly did seem seem to merely have been curious as he had claimed

- in hindsight he also realizes that conversing with him may also allow him to confirm or deny a number of the theories he had on the Fatui, or perhaps raise more questions for him to look into that he had not yet considered... or at least it could as long as he was careful about how he asked.

- AND THUS there a few more meetings, many are purely conversational, each trying to get knowledge from the other while being fully aware that the other is trying to do the same - not the type of battle Childe is used to, and it does get boring at times, but it’s all part of the game so he persists

- and eventually, as Albedo recognizes this as a regular thing, he begins enlisting Childe’s help in a number of experiments. Just figuring that since he’s doing an experiment and Childe is there regardless, it’s the most efficient option. That and it keeps the more dangerous questions to a minimum, often redirecting the questions towards alchemy, a much safer topic that he does not need to step so carefully around in order to discuss.

- There comes a point where Childe decides to point out the fact that Albedo most often has him help out with combat-requiring aspects of his experiments, and questions why

- Albedo, figuring it was obvious, reminds him of the conversation a few visits ago, where Childe mentioned his drive to get stronger, and(to requote) said that if he didn’t feel these opponents were sufficient to increase Childe’s strength, he could always bring in a couple Oceanids to fight. He then points out afterwards that ruin guards are a bit easier to fight with a bow

- Mixed responses from Childe including but not limited to - quickly refusing in the language of hydro vision panic, followed quickly by - oh, so he’s been trying to help this whole time, to- - how the fuck would he bring Oceanids to Dragonspine, is that even possible? - followed by curiosity

- and so he brings up the point that he’s never seen Albedo fight, which is a shame. “If you can’t take them down on your own just say so, no need to make excuses.” because heck yeah he’s going to taunt him, I mean this is Childe

- which of course Albedo returns with “If you want to see me in combat, follow your own advice” because of course, by now he knows about Childe’s combat obsession, like you don’t need to know him that long to figure it out, its kind of obvious.

- but he recognizes the intention, so he finishes what he’s doing checking what he needs for his future plans before exiting the lab, Childe following behind him, eager to see his future opponent in action

- so albedo goes to a ruin guard/grader/hunter(one of those), because otherwise it’s hilichurls or abyss mages and he knows enough to be able to tell that’s not exactly the kind of opponent Childe meant, and he would prefer not to have the topic brought up again, if he knew how to avoid it.

- so Childe stands back and Albedo, who is well accustomed to having to defeat the enemies in Dragonspine in order to get components for his alchemy knows exactly how to kill this bitch cuz honestly, the number of these guys he’s probably killed for research purposes is astronomical, so it’s done rather quickly and methodically, as if just another part of routine, exactly the way that it had been described when Childe was first asking the Fatui at that one camp about the alchemist.

- And that interest/intrigue that had started in the side of Childe’s mind and grew over time into one of the reasons(tho not the main reason) that he would often go to Dragonspine... it multiplied exponentially

- cue a few more visits and a new turning point occurs

Klee

- Childe comes to visit, and upon arriving at the lab he sees a child

- cue Childe approaching again, amiable grin on is face “and who’s this young lady” - because it’s literally canon that he’s good with kids

.....

- but Klee isn’t any kid

- and Klee was there for the briefing so she has just as much information on Childe as any of the other higher ranking knights - and only that much information

- a short time later they’re cleaning up the scattered remains of what was Albedo’s last experiment, lucky that the explosion was set off near the entrance so the damage wasn’t too extensive

- “Please don’t tell Master Jean, Dodocco said he was sorry”

- Cue Childe’s “I’m not a bad guy... okay I’m kind of a bad guy” quote - “but I mean no harm, I’m a friend of Albedo’s”

- and Albedo’s standing there like when I agree to that but he wants to see how this plays out

- and I’m really unfamiliar with Klee’s characterization, but you get the point Childe is canonically god at kids, he’s gonna learn that Klee’s basically Albedo’s little sister, Klee’s gonna get attached to him and remind him of his siblings back home, Childe’s interaction with Klee is basically what gets Albedo to start actually somewhat trusting Childe as opposed to just using him from a metaphorical distance and subtly helping in ways that wouldnt really negatively impact the knights

- and now that hes no longer actively distrustful his mind is more open to actually becoming attached, as he now begin to recognize that that which he initially believed to be mere manipulation tactics was actually just... Childe being genuine, or as genuine as a person can be in their situation

OKAY OKAY OKAY NOW THAT ALL THAT IS ESTABLISHED I CAN GET INTO THE DYNAMIC

- so theres the obvious things i already mentioned, like their mutual extreme drive to improve in their respective fields that separates them from others, even within their own respective groups/organizations which already(to an extent) separate their members from most others

now lets talk about this point specifically

- both Childe and Albedo are capable of helping each other grow in their respective fields.

- two things that have the potential to cause Childe trouble and lessen his combat ability and the problems with his delusion and his foul legacy transformation

- these two things are things likely unlike anything that Albedo has been able to study before (tho delusions he might have some experience with- but it’s unlikely) and it would likely be able to expand his knowledge, were he given the opportunity to experiment them, while simultaneously helping childe improve his strength

HOWEVER

- both of them know just how fragile the relationship(whatever it is) between them is, how quickly tensions can shift and orders can change, so in order to protect both the other and themselves they both understand that actually going through with this wouldn’t truly be safe and both sides could get in trouble for it

- because no matter what they do there will always be a constantly present risk hanging over their heads, but ill come back to that

- Dragonspine - in a lot of Albedo ships, the other character has to go through the effort of going to Dragonspine, which tends to serve as an obstacle for the relationship to be overcome (exception of sucrose and... idk do people ship him with Timeus? just in case, recognizing them both as potential exceptions) - However, in the case of Childe, who legitimately enjoys coming to Dragonspine, he wouldn’t hesitate to visit Albedo - with most it becomes “wow, i haven’t seen Albedo in a while, gee, i wish he’d come down the mountain, nonetheless i am a good lover so i shall make the harsh trek to see my beloved” - with this bitch Childe tho it’s more like “oops, feelin’ homesick, Imma see how Albedo’s doing, hope he’s made progress, wonder if Klee will be there” or “Wow I haven’t seen Albedo in awhile. Finna finish up these fatui duties real quick and head over, if i say im checking on the Fatui stationed there, I dont even have to ask to go on leave” (he gets in trouble for not officially asking for a day off anyways)

-anywho, Childe is largely used to interacting with the Harbingers, who always seem to have some other secret second layered plan of sorts that he’s not always informed about (ex: him being intended to fail when he summoned Osial, but being kept in the dark about it), which conflicts with Childe’s relatively straight forward nature - Albedo also possesses the potential to be similar, however he doesn’t often see the need for such things, preferring to be frank about his goals and expectations, so unlike with his fellow harbingers, Childe knows that when Albedo tells him something or asks something of him, what he’s being told is usually exactly what actually is true/intended. And if it’s not, Albedo is the kind of person to explain that it’s something he can’t tell him, which he understands, since he has his own share of things he cant share because of his Fatui alignment.

- there is going to be an interaction where at some point Childe is rambling about his family back home, and Albedo questions him about what they look like, a few days later handing him a surprisingly accurate drawing of his siblings - “I did have to try to check appearance with the traveler but unfortunately they weren’t in Mondstadt, do I do hope there aren’t too many inaccuracies” - Homeboy doesn’t cry(probably) but he gets really fucking close - cue socially isolated Alchemist boy misunderstanding and trying to apologize, which Childe responds to by just hugging him- because both of these boys are touch starved and honestly they fucking need it.

- and now that Childe knows Albedo doesn’t actually have a significant boundary on physical affection, as with most Childe ships... it happens a lot

- headcanon that Childe tends to just lean/rest his head on things like a dog. - additional headcanon that Albedo tends to have a need to keep his hands busy at all times - so just cue the scene where Albedo is working on experiments as usual, Childe watching from behind with his head rested on his shoulder and Albedo just absentmindedly playing with his hair with one hand while the other continues with his work

- also talking with Albedo gives Childe a a lot of harmless fun facts and he loves rubbing it in they’re faces when he gets to correct one of the other harbingers on something because of this

- Albedo does also have a tendency to overthink things though, and Childe’s more straight forward mindset gives a new perspective that helps him work around issues more often than he would have expected

- Also Albedo’s love language is totally words of affirmation (i will die on this hill, he doesn’t even realize he does it probably). So he wouldn’t hesitate to sincerely thank or praise Childe whenever he helps or does something good. And Childe is a Fatui, most of the praise he gets is from the subordinates who admire him yes, but also lowkey highkey fear him, and especially after all of Liyue knows he summoned Osial basically, he is pretty damn starved for affirmation and praise and wouldn’t even notice just how much until Albedo gave that to him. - like Childe is over here melting into a puddle of fluff and Albedo probably wouldn’t even realize what he’s doing, he’s just stating his observations out loud

- Childe and Albedo making a pinkie promise, Childe does the little Snezhnayan chant, and Albedo’s gaze just shifts slowly towards the nearby frozen lake in intense concern

- They go ice fishing with Klee who introduces Childe to fish blasting and it’s a whole new world of possibilities now. Albedo has many regrets.

- the harbingers have all basically figured it out by now and are concerned about security but mostly they just mock him for it - the Fatui stationed in Dragonspine however, probably know because 1 they’ve seen Childe with Albedo almost every time he visits, and Childe brags about it regularly - at this point a majority of them ship it and needless to say Albedo’s risk of death via Fatui has gone down significantly, and it’s had a surprisingly positive benefit on relations between the knights and Fatui overall

- the Knights took a bit longer to catch on, since Albedo isn’t exactly in Mondstadt all that often, but it’s the city of freedom, what are they gonna do? say no? again, they are concerned about security risks, but trust Albedo to recognize what should be withheld.

- Childe is a chaotic bean and we love him for it - on the other hand Albedo is more calm and patient, able to put up with this, and realistically, he has enough experience with Klee to not accidentally put him out or down or otherwise dampen his natural personality...... it’s just when the two of them get together that Albedo experiences true fear.

anyway... im probs gonna add more to this later.... I’m just really bad at coming up with ship dynamics- so my main point in this is to get people to realize that it possible and that it could work- because there is... nearly 0 material on it- and i just think it has the potential to be so wonderful but I do not have the potential to make it that way. Like it has the potential for so many different dynamics and iconic moments and theres so many reasonable ways they could meet and just so many possibilities and im just really hoping to show the ship to more people because, y’know, it’s rare and i want them to suffer from the lack of content too, because I’m just a kind person like that.

i dont think he really cares about meeting your parents

no hes sure that they are lovely people

its just that shinsou is a litlte anti social as it is and likes to keep meeting new people to a minimum

but monoma kinda bugs him on it

egging him on to take initiative in your relationship for once and make a big step for the both of you

so one day, shinsou walks up to you begrudgingly with monoma hiding behind a wall nearby

(this is exactly what it looked like when monoma forced shinsou to gain the courage to ask you out)

you cant help but laugh again at how adorable he looks

todoorki’s had his fair share of experience when it comes to parents

so hes not entirely eager to meet your parents

but he does think about it every now and then

for sure not everyone is going to be like his father

but hes got quite a foul mouth and no brain to mouth filter when he does speak

but he knows respect

just dont cross his line

he doesnt really bring up meeting your parents for a while

iida had asked about it once since it was a formal thing to do when gaining a significant other

todoroki simply shrugged and said he’ll think about it

and he did think about it

later that day after training he approached you, pulling on your arm to bring you closer to him

he soon pulled you to a stop by the side of the hallway, stepping rather close to you

it was so sudden that you couldnt help your surprise

neither of you talk much about your parents (except for Rei who you had met a while back)

I spent 2 hours on writing notes from the prison podcast stream.

Now I don’t know what to do with them, so I’m putting them here.

No need to read them, there is just some interesting stuff I noticed, things like tones and how many times somethings are brought up.

Look I'm not one of those people who believe Kishimoto decided to have Hinata and Naruto end up in the middle part of Shippuden. I believe he decided in the very last arc but he wanted to sound smart so he said he decided earlier on. Otherwise, they obviously would have more scene together. In Shippuden, they have only three scenes together ; when Naruto came back, the pain attack and the neji death scene. That's it. In the original Naruto, they probably have less than ten canon scenes not including fillers.

So I'm sorry I'm one of those who wasn't convinced by The Last. They literally had a basic villain go after Hinata who was cringe btw (the villain). They gave Hinata op powers which she doesn't have in the novel 👀. Despite having op powers, they made her the damsel in distress. Very "The hero saves the princess" cliche. Again, to justify them being together. I mean Naruto can't differentiate his love for ramen and romantic love so how??? He was just being nice to Hinata just like he does to everyone. He stood up for her just like he does for everyone.

Don't get me started on the Sakura Sasuke relationship 🤣. Cringe. They never knew each other. The whole Sakura's love for Sasuke saved him doesn't make sense. They spent barely a year in their genin year before sasuke left. Sasuke tried to kill Naruto and Sakura multiple times. Then at the end of the war, Kishimoto tried to do the "oh they have such a deep understanding between each other" which comes off as cringey. He gets her pregnant then leaves for years. She's literally a single mom who's broke.

Every relationship in Naruto is so cringey and forced except shikatemari. Kishimoto should've focused on the main story and fixed his potholes and leave the ending open.

Naruto would not have been perfect but at least it would've been remembered for staying true to its vision but instead it's remembered for cringey relationships, dumbass villain (except pain and madara) and a story that lost its core which is a shame coz I used to love Naruto. I was inspired by its messages but now....

Im an NH shipper as you can tell by my hotmess of a blog but i fully respect your opinion and understand your point of view. I also know a bunch of nh stans who have their complaints with their development. I wish Kishi gave more attention to his female cast really, thats all I fucking ask. If he did that one single basic thing, then maybe the endgame relationships wouldnt have been an asspull and theyd be given propper screentime with their love interest, both Sakura and Hinata. The Last tbh i think the writers played it safe and stuck to the whole Naruto shounen vibe thingy, so im not surprised it was plotted that way. Typical cliché shounen movie.

But does that bother me? No! The Last was a mess, their development was shit, they definitely needed more screentime but hey at the end of the day theyre cute as fuck, we have that kiss scene, flirting scenes, a shit ton of official art, three kids, Seiki's gif :33 and a whole ass arc for their wedding all that for just a shounen anime so eh. Compensates for it i guess xD theyre not toxic, unhealthy or whatnot. Theyre wholesome, soft and vanilla as fuck and exactly what i need in my hectic life rn. No drama, just two kind souls who are adorable as heck and theyre dynamic means so much to me and I will love them until i shall leave this earth.

Sasuke and Sakura on the other hand eeeehhhh i can see why people like them. Sasuke's hot, he's your typical hot bad boy aad Sakura's hot and pretty too. Basic blue and pink trope. Aside from their canon interactions, fans have all the opportunity to play around with their dynamic but for me, its just sooo basic and so hetero and can easily appeal to any 16 yr old teenage girl, no wonder it has an active fanbase on twt and---- AM I MAKING ANY SENSE? AHDBAJJE LIKE ITS SO-- BASIC, your usual bad boy x pretty girl trope that you get to read in YA and coming of age novels. The sun setting over Sunnyside Trailer Park almost makes the place look homely. The soft pinks and yellows paint the off white trailers in a light glow, and from afar, it might be considered pretty.

You and Archie walk slowly through the worn down vans, both of you clinging on to the last minutes of your date. The two of you talk quietly, with small laughter and shy looks exchanged as the minutes count down. His fingers brush past your own a few times and he sends you a bashful yet nervous smile when you look at him.

You wave at a few of your neighbours, all of whom are watching with raised eyebrows and slight scowls as they follow the movements of the red-head walking beside you.

An outsider they all think.

Its obvious he doesn’t belong, he may as well be carrying a target as red as his hair on his back, one that screams ‘northsider’, but to you, he’s just Archie Andrews. The boy from your English class that asked a dumb question and made you laugh.

As long as they see him with you, he should be able to leave unharmed, this time at least, but just in case you’ve already sent a text to a few friends around the site to make sure he leaves in one piece.

You’d told him at the beginning of your date that you didn’t need walking home.You’ve been perfectly capable of handling yourself for years, its something engrained in you. But he insisted, and a secret part of you loved it.

Its nothing new that life on the southside is a little different to other places. Almost every part of your life is different to that of a northsider, and dating is no exception. So it nice to have a glimpse of what its supposed to be like, even if you are worried about him.

“This is it.” You stop in front of your trailer and you can’t not notice the disappointment that flashes through his eyes. He looks away from you, deciding to look around the row of trailers and you start preparing for the worst. Because yeah, he may have liked you at school or at Pop’s, but will he still like you when he see’s who you really are?

“Did your mom plant those?” He asks, pulling you from your thoughts. You look to where he’s pointing, and smile at the flowers surrounding the trailer. Whatever you were expecting him to say, it wasn’t that, but its a nice change of what you thought.

“I-er. Yeah. She did.” You stumble over your words, still slightly confused, but he doesn’t seem to notice. Instead he just smiles brightly at you and starts rambling about his own mom.

“I think your mom and mine would get on really well. She really likes gardening. When I was younger I used to ‘help’ her, but really I just ended up trampling over the flower beds. So she made my own little patch and bought me some seeds to plant.”

“Aw.” You laugh. “Thats really cute. Did you have your own little hat and gloves?”

“Who wears a hat to garden?”

“My mom.” You reply making him giggle.

“I should probably get going before it gets dark.” He says, and looks around again. You then remember where you are and disappointment settles in your bones.

“Good idea.”

“I do need to do something before I go.”

“Whats that?”

“Kiss you. If thats okay.” He adds the last part anxiously and large grin takes over your face as you look up at him.

“Thats more than okay.” You reply and take a step towards him. His hands cup your cheeks gently, while you wrap your arms around his neck. He closes his eyes first and you’re about to lean in when you notice movement out of the corner of your eye. You freeze and he opens his eyes to look at you confused.

“Is everything okay?” He asks, but you’re too busy watching the windows of your trailer.

The curtain hanging in the living room twitches slightly and you realize you now have company. You quickly pull away, putting enough space between the two of you and Archie looks at you confused. You glance towards the window and he follows your gaze, watching as the curtain moves quickly and soft footsteps move away, before looking back at you, with a slightly embarrassed smile.

“Sorry.”

“Its okay.” He laughs. “My mom is the same. She’d probably be waiting by the door if it was the other way round.”

“Same.” You sigh and look at your front door. “I’m gonna get interrogated when I walk through that door.” You grimace and he sends you a sympathetic smile.

“Next time you can walk me home and then it’ll be fair.” He replies, the mention of a next time makes you blush and look at the grass.

“Deal.” You smile.

“I will warn you though, my mom will question both of us.”

“Hmm, I’ll think about it then.” You tease and a small frown twitches at his lips. “I’m joking. I’d love to be interrogated by your mom.”

“Thats an odd thing to look forward to.” He laughs.

“Oh well.” You shrug and send him a soft smile.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He laughs.

“Text me when you get home.” You tell him and he nods. You look around to make sure there’s no prying eyes anymore, before pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. It makes both of you blush and a giddy smiles takes over his appearance before he starts walking away.

You watch him until he disappears into the maze of trailers and your brain becomes full of mushy thoughts about him and the date you’ve just had. They play in your head on a loop, until they get replaced by thoughts of seeing him again and your future dates together.

That is until your hear a thud behind you and you have to push all of those away to mentally prepare for the 100 questions you’re going to get.

The door opens before you even reach it, and both your mom and dad are stood watching you with expectant looks on their faces. You sigh and slowly make your way up the steps, squeezing past them once you make it to the top.

The door closes and before you even take your jacket off, they start talking.

“Who was that?” Your mom asks first and a small smile takes over your appearance when you think of him.

“Archie.” You reply, taking your jacket off and hanging it up.

“Why was he walking you home?” Your dad wonders, trying to seem less forceful (and failing) than your mom.

“Because he wanted to.” You reply.

“Does he live around here?” He says.

“Nope.” You close your eyes, taking a deep breath and bracing yourself for the overreaction you’re going to get. “He lives on the northside.”

“What?” They say at the same time.

here we go.

“What do you mean he lives on the northside?” Your mom asks, her voice rising with each word and you have to hold your eye roll.

“He lives on the northside.” You repeat and she narrows her eyes at you.

“Calm down.” Your dad whispers and places a hand on her arm. “Are you friends? Dating?” He asks, and you feel yourself cringe at the sheer awkwardness of the conversation.

“Dating.” You have to force the words out and when you see the disappointment on both your parents faces you can’t help the ache in your chest.

“Okay.” Your mom nods slowly. She always does this when you tell her something ‘shocking’. The nod starts slow, but the more she thinks about it the quicker it gets and then your dad has to calm her down and take charge of whatever conversation you’re being forced into.

Today is no different and you watch the stages of your mom’s panic develop, before your dad faces you again. He’s got that look in his eyes, the stern yet loving parent. That look always makes you feel bad, no matter what you’ve done and you think he knows it.

“Y/n.” He starts. “We’re very happy that you’ve found someone you like.”

“Thank you.” You interrupt and he lets a deep breath out through his nose.

“But we’re a little bit worried about you.”

“Why?”

“He’s a northsider.” Your mom interrupts.

“And thats not an inherently bad thing.” Your dad tries to claw it back, but when your mom mumbles ‘it is’, he knows any chance at a mature conversation you could have had has long gone.

“What are you more annoyed by? The fact that he’s from the northside or the fact that I’m dating him. Its like you don’t want me to have a life.”

“It’s not that we don’t want you to have a life sweetheart.” Your dad sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose.

“We just want you to have a safe life. People on the northside think of us like we’re scum. What if he’s just using you to win a bet or as a dare that his friends made.” Your mom tries, now slightly calmer than before.

“That only happens in movies mom.”

“Or what if he thinks your some sort of charity case.” Your dad adds.

“He won’t because I’m not.”

“We know you’re not. But some people might. Some boys see a girl from ‘the wrong side of the tracks’ and think they need to be fixed.” Your mom replies.

“But I don’t and he doesn’t. He’s nice...and kind. And he isn’t like the other northsiders. It isn’t like what it used to be. People have moved on, and so have their views.”

“That may be what it seems like, but its not always the case.” She says, now losing her temper.

“Exactly. I mean, he might not see you as something to be fixed now, but when he realizes that living like this isn’t something to be romanized, it isn’t like some Cinderella story, that can be fixed with true love. When he realizes that its very real and very hard, he might want to try and fix you. And you don’t need fixing. You’re great the way you are.” Your dad interjects and you look at him annoyed.

“I know I don’t need fixing.”

“Well, thats good then.” They both say.

“So if I know I don’t need to be fixed, if you know it, and he knows it. What exactly is the problem?”

“Tha-thats not what we’re saying.” He stutters.

“I know what you’re saying, I just don’t agree with it” You challenge, crossing your arms over your chest.

“Y/n.” Your mom warns.

“You go on and on about how the northsiders judge us, but you’re doing exactly the same. Maybe if you actually met him, you’d realize that he’s sweet and kind and he knows exactly who I am and he still likes me, then you wouldn’t be saying all of this. But whatever, I’m going to bed.” You huff and stomp into your room, the door slams behind you and the whole trailer shakes.

You kick your shoes off and put your pyjama’s on before climbing into bed. Its only when you’re safely under the duvet do the tears start to pour, and quiet sobs pass your lips. Its a mix of anger and sadness but you can’t quite figure out which one you feel the most.

So you do the only thing you can do, you call Archie and pray that he made it out. It answers on the second tone and as soon as you hear his happy tone you feel yourself calm a little.

“I’m not home yet. But I am alive and out of the serpents pit.” He laughs. But when you don’t answer he starts to worry that he upset you. “Sorry, that was a really stupid joke.” He mentally curses himself. “Y/n?”

“Its okay.” You mumble and he lets out a sigh of relief.

“So you couldn’t get enough of me huh?” He’s back to his old self and there’s a flirtatious tone in his voice that you can’t help but roll your eyes at.

“Archie, I’m really sorry.” You sob and his eyebrows furrow.

“What? Whats happening? Are you okay?” He panics.

“No.” You cry.

“What? Do I need to come back? What’s happening.”

“No!” You say, rather quickly and that only worries him more. “Its nothing you can do.”

‘What is it?”

“My parents. I told them about us and they think you’re the worst.”

“That sucks.” He says and the tone makes you laugh a little.

“I know.”

“Tell me what happened.”

“Well, I got home and they asked who you were so I told you and then they asked if we were dating so I said yes, even though I knew what the answer would be. And they said that they were worried about me because they thought you would see me as a charity case and as something to be fixed. I tried to tell them that it wasn’t true but they just weren’t listening.” You ramble and his eyebrows knit in confusion.

People have thought countless of things about him before, but never has anyone thought he could fix something. He’s told he could break things before, many things, but never fix. However he realizes that this probably isn’t the best thing to say, and so he decides to save his joke for another time.

Instead he says something he has probably only ever said a handful of times before.

“It’s going to be okay. I’ll fix it.” He curses at the use of words, but he means it nonetheless.

Because he’s only known you for a few weeks, but he knows that he wants a future with you. You make him feel things he hasn’t felt before, and you make him feel things he didn’t think he’d ever be able to feel again. So he’s going to do whatever it takes to make sure whatever future he has with you, long or short..he has it.

“How?” You don’t sound convinced. He doesn’t blame you. He isn’t so convinced himself, but he’ll figure something out.

“I don’t know. But I will...I promise.”

Its silent for a few seconds, before he hears a beep over the phone and then silence. You sigh, placing your phone on the bedside table before sinking further into the covers.

You want nothing more than to believe him.

Archie Andrews, the boy who said something stupid in your English class and made you feel something you’ve never felt before.

Morning comes as a harsh reminder to the events of last night. The sunlight is bright and glaring through the windows and you curse yourself for being too upset to close the curtains. A dull headache appears and you squint, your eyes aching from the crying.

You can hear your parents hushed conversation outside your bedroom, they’re arguing over if they should come in, but after a few minutes they decide to leave you alone...thankfully.

Your head drops back onto the pillow as you decide to spend your Saturday in bed making up for the sleep you missed last night.

However when you hear a knock on the front door you have to force yourself to sit up again. Your eyebrows furrowing as you wonder if you’re parents told you anything about weekend visitors, but when your mind comes to blank, you just stare at your closed bedroom door confused while you listen to your dad open it.

There’s a hushed talking between two voices. One you recognize as your dad, but the other you can’t quite place. You hear your mom move from the kitchen and join your dad at the door, now all three of them talking quietly.

You frown, confused as to what the hell is going on, and drag yourself out of bed, bunching the duvet up as you go.

Slowly, you creep towards your bedroom door, making sure to avoid any noisy parts of the floor, and as soon as your beside the door, you crack it open a little and take a peek.

The first thing you see is the red hair. Its bright and wild, nothing like the way it usually is. And then you see him. Stood at your front door with two bunches of flowers in his hands. He looks almost frantic while he talks to your parents, and a small smile appears on your face.

Archie

“I just want to say that I didn’t mean to upset you.” He starts and your parents send each other a look.

“Archie.” Your dad starts.

“Please.” He says quickly. “I got these for you Mrs Y/l/n.” He practically shoves the flowers at your mom and you suppress a small laugh at the surprise on her face.

The fact that he’s trying makes you want to believe that everything will be okay, but the way your parents are looking at each other, squashes all hope you could have possibly had. “And I didn’t really know what you liked Mr Y/l/n, but I’d love to find out.”

“Thats very sweet.” Your mom begins, glancing back towards your door and you quickly hide. “But there’s really no need.”

“I er, I’m sorry if I offended either of you. Thats the last thing I wanted to do. I don’t see Y/n as a charity case or someone that needs to be fixed, not by me or anyone. I just see her as a girl that I really, really like, and that I hope she likes me back, even if its just a fraction of what I do.” You’ve moved back to the door by the time he gets to his last sentence, and the two of you make eye contact for a brief moment.

You open the door and slowly step outside, gaining the attention of all three of them. Archie is smiling at you, its soft and gentle and full of light and it makes you feel like you’re floating, like you’re the only person in the world. You smile back at him, sending him a small wave as you try and keep the blush off your cheeks.

Your parents watch the interaction, finding themselves mirrored in both of you. The shy looks and soft smiles remind them of when they were younger, and how they would look at each other.

Its not the most ideal of relationships. A northsider and a southsider, but its one thats just starting with millions of possibilities. And thats enough. So they send each other a look, before sighing and turning back to Archie. He’s still stood awkwardly by the door, completely unaware of the two adults watching him, he’s more interested in you, and making sure you’re okay.

“Come in Archie.”

They may not know everything about him, they may not trust him, but you do and thats good enough for them.

hi it's your secret santa! first of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! i hope you have a wonderful day! how are you celebrating, if you are at all? safely, i hope! either way i hope you manage to find a way to have a great day full of love!! consider my christmas gift a belated birthday gift as well lol. anyway i loved reading your last answer, it was so thoughtful and sweet. i realized after reading that i barely know anything about dove lol so follow up q: what about dove makes you love her so much?

sorry for the late response! the last couple days have been v busy and ive been super tired and dissociative on top of it so i made a point to save this bc i wanted to give it my full attention!

first of all thank you!! i was going to do a virtual meet and greet with one of my favs from jersey boys but he got confused about timezones so we rescheduled but were doing it next week! then i went to a virtual walt disney family museum panel, had pizza for dinner and watched some liv and maddie, my mom made a cookie cake that we ate while watching the grinch musical, and then some friends and i watched the jersey boys movie together over skype!

im so glad you enjoyed reading my last answer! and oof thats another loaded question (i love it tho)

- like i said when first talking about what drew me to her and liv and maddie, a big thing is just how much passion and love she puts into her characters. ofc she puts passion into every character she plays, but its the passion she puts into characters like liv, maddie, and mal that means the most to me. that goes back to the fact that ive dealt with a lot of negativity directed towards me for enjoying disney channel, and then you have dove out here saying “yah im a teenager/twenty-something who not only respects what theyre doing on disney channel, but puts my all into it” not to mention she even won an emmy for playing liv and maddie in season 4! i hope that passion and talent has started to change the conversation about disney channel, and tbh i think it has at least a bit. ofc, none of this is to say other people her age acting on disney channel arent talented and passionate, but idk, something about her has always stood out to me. i find her to be more animated and expressive than most. it can be hard for me to read emotions in live action movies and shows, so thats been really important for me. not to mention she was not only playing the lead but TWO lead characters on a four season show with distinct personalities but also subtle similarities. AND the main character in the biggest DCOM franchise in years for 5 years running now. PLUS the fact that there was a period where those were both happening at the same time. she was only 16 when she started all this and hadnt even had any big roles prior to it!! she had a lot of responsibility so it was amazing to see her not only pull it off, but excel at it.

- i just love like....her aesthetic?? shes always seemed to be a very old soul to me, into old jazz music and poetry and stuff like that. its just very charming. and for her to have that aesthetic on top of being a disney channel actress is a fascinating juxtaposition.

- this is kind of sappy and it gets tiring to hear it said over and over again but that doesnt mean it isnt true: i love how transparent she is about her struggles with mental health issues, trauma, and such. she has been for a long time but even more so over the last year or two. no shade to anyone else, but a lot of actors dont really give you a look into their personal lives, they just share and promote their product. im not saying theres anything wrong with that, its good to know what youre comfortable sharing, ive just felt all the more close to her with her being as open as she is, especially as someone who has gone through trauma myself, albeit different from hers.

- kind of connected to that, i love how important spreading kindness, positivity, and love is to her. thats another thing thats been said a million times but still, its very important to me.

for example. she’ll randomly tweet things like “i love you” a lot. im one to always think of the thought process that goes on behind whatever someone posts, texts, etc., bc personally i put a lot of a thought into pretty much anything i say or do before i put it out there publicly, probably bc of my social anxiety. even tho its a simple statement and takes her a couple seconds to post, she still had to have the thought “i want to remind my fans that theyre loved” or something along those lines. and she has this thought FREQUENTLY. to just randomly get a notification every few days or weeks or so of her saying something like that is just very heartwarming to me.

the reason i connected with miley so much when she helped me through my initial trauma was bc it felt like even if no one loved me, she loves her fans, thus she loves me. thus the person i love and admire the most loves me. even if its only one person, it can be enough. it was for me at the time. i feel that same way with dove. when she came into my life, i didn’t feel as unloved, but her love was still helpful to me.

- of course i need to specifically talk about her kindness in person too. dont get me wrong (ive been saying that a lot havent i lol), i totally and completely loved her long before i met her, but naturally, i love her 10x more after the experiences ive had getting to know her in person.

i could go ONNNNNNN about the experiences ive had with her, and i have lol, and if you already heard me ramble about this in the server i apologize, but the most important thing ive taken away from every encounter ive had with her is this: she always goes the extra mile. she always goes out of her way to make people feel special. what i mean by that is she could say/do HALF as much as she has when meeting me and i would still leave over the moon feeling loved. you can tell she does this in excess bc she really truly means it and cares about people like me, she doesnt have any kind of ulterior motive and isnt just going through the motions doing whats asked of her, she simply cares about me and the rest of her fans. some examples - the first time we met, i was sobbing (lol) and she hugged me for a really long time, rocking me back and forth, brushing my hair with her thumb, calling me sweetheart and honey. she even started to tear up a bit herself. - a couple months later, i went to my first liv and maddie taping. i was preparing to reintroduce myself (i looked a little different bc id been cosplaying as maddie the first time i met her) and ofc when preparing myself, i fantasized pretty heavily as i usually do and pictured myself showing her the pic of us on my phone, her gasping, jumping out of her chair screaming, and hugging me, thinking that was probably way more than i was gonna get. that is EXACTLY what happened. then she went on to tell me how my costume made her whole weekend. things like this would continue to happen where i would set the bar impossibly high and not only would she meet it but she’d exceed it. - our usual interaction from there on would start with her face lighting up when she saw me, her calling me some kind of cute name like love or baby, and then hugging me without me even having to initiate it. - when i saw her in mamma mia, i didnt know when id be seeing her again afterwards after pretty consistently getting to see her for 2 years, so i wanted to make sure we got some kind of closure. at the stage door, i reminded her how much she meant to me and just expected like an “aww i love you too” or something back, but she said “you are an angel in my life” and i will never forget that. obvs, i havent told her ALL the details about what she and her characters mean to me but like...she can tell. she can tell if im in a homemade maddie costume sobbing into her arms that theres something there, and shes VERY appreciative of that. - i thankfully got to see her at a meet and greet a few months later and every time i thought i should get going cuz i didnt want to hold the line up, she would just open her arms for another hug. speaking of being appreciative, she even said “thank you for being such a supportive fan.” as i left, i turned around to say one last goodbye. i made sure she wasnt with the next fan yet and yelled out “bye!” and she yelled back “I LOVE YOU!!” and blew me a kiss. again, its the little things. - i saw her at a small panel in new york a few months after that. she walked in the room when the lights were down as they were playing a clip, she quietly waved hi to everyone, then saw me and loudly whispered HI BABY!!! and stopped on her way to the stage to give me a hug. (then she looked at me from the stage and asked which way i thought she should cross her legs for the interview lol) - sometimes when she sees im next in line, shell give me a knowing smile or whisper “hi baby!!” or something like that. she saw me in the crowd after clueless and seemed to make a point to come to me last bc she knew wed be talking for a while, which we did. she even told me she’d seen me in the audience, asking if i was in the front on the left, which i was.

even all that is still just scratching the surface. weve “known” each other for 5 years now and every time i think she’s done the most she can do, she outdoes herself again. not to mention when im at these events, i see her treat all the fans she meets with all of that kindness too. naturally all of this has made me love her all the more.

- finally, lets just be honest here..........................shes REALLY fucking hot.

It was about halfway through the mission when yellow started to follow him around.

"Dont you have tasks to do?" Red asked, annoyed because he just killed someone, and would have to wait longer before he could get rid of the bright crewmate.

"I already finished my tasks, and I figured its be safer to stick in groups... what with half the crew gone. I havent seen you do tasks... you're done too?"

"Eugh..." Wiping the blood off his visor and blessing the fact that his spacesuit was red, he went back to join yellow, promising himself that she was next.

Red smiled. "I was just checking to see if anyone was in electrical, doesn't seek like there is."

"Okay! Maybe we should-"

Whatever yellow was going to suggest was interrupted by blacks panicked voice over the speaker.

"Everyone to the cafeteria! We found Lime by the reactor."

Gasping, Yellow started to rush back to the cafeteria, Red quick on her heels, determined to keep up appearances.

"How long was Lime there?" Asked Red with fake worry.

"We cant really tell... its recent, we know that much." Black said angrily.

Green stared sadly at the sheet covering her brother's body.

Softly, Black put her hand on Greens shoulder. "Green... we've got to focus on finding out who did this, we can mourn everyone properly later."

Nodding, Green looked around at everyone else.

"Where's White and Pink?"

Everyone looked around.

Black sighed. "Let's go find their bodies before we discuss this."

"No need."

Everyone looked over to see Pink carrying White's mangled body to the table.

"White can't have been dead more than ten minutes" Pink informed them, face blank.

Red saw an opportunity.

Black, ever the calm leader, stood as well.

Red shrugged. "I just think it's a little sus that he shows up ten minutes late to a meeting, carrying a body that died ten minutes ago."

"Oh really? What were you doing ten minutes ago?" Pink retorted.

There was silence. Everyone staring at Pink. Then...

Green stared at Pink, betrayed." I though you loved Lime..."

Paling, Pink struggled to find an answer. "I did- I do love Lime! It's Red... It's gotta be!"

Black shook her head slowly. "Yellow... what do you think?"

Yellow looked back and forth between Pink and Red, before quietly whispering "I skip voting."

Nodding, Black turned to Pink. "Pink... you have three votes against you. I'm sorry."

"It's not me. Its not!" Pink backed away slowly.

Red held back a smirk of satisfaction, pleased that it was going so well for him. He couldn't he happier as he watched Green and Black escorting Pink towards the air lock.

He was happy... Until he saw Yellows devastated face. He remembered that Pink and Yellow were best friends, though he couldn't figure out why that bugged him so much.

Ignoring his brain telling him to shut up, and that his mission was almost complete, Red stood.

"Wait!"

Everyone looked at Red, and he felt himself speaking before he could stop the words.

"I'm the imposter, not Pink... I snuck away while Yellow was looking out the window."

Black and Greem quickly let go of Pink's arms.

"You're the one that killed everyone?" Blacks voice had a dangerous edge.

Nodding weakly, Red stepped back. "W-well... technically Blue killed a few of them as well but... you tossed her out a few days ago."

"Let's throw Red out then!" Pink started towards Red, looking angry.

"Not yet." Black held up her hand. "I still want to know why you admitted it now... You and Blue killed four of our teammates without hesitation, and you were about to off a fifth... Why now?"

Floundering, Red glanced at Yellow. "I dont know exactly... I just... didn't like how upset Yellow was over Pink."

Yellow looked at him strangely, not seeming to know what to think.

Green looked at Red vengfully. "Now that we've heard the explanation, can we get rid of this murderer?"

Pink nodded in agreement, and Red raised his arms in surrender, preparing himself to the horrible fate that his friend Blue had suffered only a few days before.

The intercom beeped again, alerting them that they were approaching Polus.

Black sighed. "We need to prepare for landing. Once we arrive on Polus I'm sure we can find some way to deal with Red... but for now we'll just put him in the brig. Everyone else needs to finish their tasks."

Pink nodded, then grabbed Red by the arms roughly. "Just because you didnt let me get ejected doesn't mean you're suddenly a good person... doesn't mean you didnt murder half this crew."

Red didn't say anything, just let himself be marched off to the brig.

when geralt sends jaskier away on the mountain, he's still fired up about yen--all he could think about was how angry and hurt he was that she would just leave him on the mountain like that, and he doesnt spare a single thought for jaskier aside from a fast "good, the stupid bard left before me, i cant stand chatter right now" when he sees the empty camp

he burns about yen all the way down the mountain, and tries to ignore how torn apart he feels at her leaving, because they'd had a moment, dammit! he'd been vulnerable for her where he's never been before and she drives him crazy and he can't stand that she just left

it's not until he sets up camp that night that he notices the lack of jaskier for the first time: he's removing his gear from roach and brushing her down, and when he turns around to face the clearing, he wonders why there isn't a fire already going until, oh yeah, he yelled at jaskier today and jaskier left before him

"good riddance," he thinks, rolling his eyes as he starts to pick up firewood, and his thoughts turn once more to yennefer

in the morning, geralt wakes up and broods a little more about yennefer, and then keeps brooding as he starts to get roach ready to teavel again, and then he gets on the road and broods until he's hungry, and he frowns because it feels like he's been brooding a long time? he hasnt been in a bad mood for this long in a while, but it's strange because surely he's capable of staying broody for a very long time and yet his face feels out of practice at frowing for this long

the lack of response to his continued frown has him instinctively looking down at the road where jaskier would be walking beside him and realizes that usually jaskier would have said something stupid enough to knock him out of his brooding by now

well, whatever, now that he's realized he's been brooding for too long, he'll just stop doing it because he doesn't need jaskier

he enters a village, stopping to check the notice board and seeing there's a contract he can take care of tomorrow, and he makes his way to the tavern; he sits down and remembers how beautiful yen looked when she walked in with that stupid knight and his thoughts sour again, remembering how she left him

he tries to steer his thoughts away from yennefer once more and his eyes land on someone that is taking the bread on their plate and putting it in their pockets for god knows what reason, and he turns to jaskier to tease him because he would surely know the reason--he's had bread in his pants before and gods that was the first stupid thing jaskier ever said to him, wasnt it--and then he remembers that, oh yeah, geralt yelled at jaskier and then jaskier left the mountain ahead of geralt, and that's why jaskier isn't here

hmm

whatever, he doesn't need jaskier and he definitely doesn't need yennefer, and now he's mad at her again and gods damn it

he finishes his food and heads to the inn across fron the tavern where he pays for a room, and when he gets to the room, it's small--doesnt even have a table--and he's already mentally preparing himself for the irritated muttering that he'll have to shut out when jaskier comes in and inevitably complains about the lack of space to sit down and compose and lay out all his papers before he remembers, oh right, yesterday he yelled at jaskier on the mountain and then jaskier left before they could leave together and this was after arguing with yennefer and ugh

geralt sits on the bed, emotionally exhausted, and he's tired of being angry about yen and that's it, he's done with that, and he gazes to jaskier's side of the bed and idly predicts where exactly jaskier's gonna keep his lute because he's precious about it and he actually walks around their room or their campsite before they settle for the night to find the least damp place to put it but geralt cant fault him because he's the same with his potions and then he remembers again that, right, he yelled at jaskier on the mountain and jaskier's not gonna be here to stash his lute anywhere that's not damp

he sits there and realizes that he really is done with his anger toward yen, the burning is gone and he's left with a drained feeling and the emptiness of jaskier's side of the bed, because of course they both have sides on the bed, theyre always together

except now theyre not, because geralt yelled at him on the mountain and wished he would be out of his life, and jaskier listened and left

without burning anger filling him up, he realizes that there is a hole he didnt notice when he left the mountain, and shit, jaskier's not here and it's eerily silent in this room and in his head

geralt rests for the night but finds it strange and somewhat discomfiting to not fall asleep to the lullabye of jaskier's heartbeat, the rhythmic exhale of his breath

in the morning, geralt wakes up without jaskier in the bed beside him and no lute case anywhere in the room and he feels destabilized

he thinks of the mountain and his mind brushes on his argument with yen and feels tired about it, and then he remembers yelling at jaskier, the way geralt felt his face contort in anger, and he thinks of the look on jaskier's face right before geralt turned around, and he suddenly remembers jaskier's hesitant tone when he said he'd get the story from someone else and he can almost imagine the look on his face, and fuck, has jaskier ever sounded hesitant in his life? did geralt make him hesitant?

he goes down to grab some breakfast before pursuing the contract he saw on the notice board, and when the plate comes, it's got jaskier's favourite fruit on it and he quirks his eyebrow and starts to turn toward the bard on reflex, ready for the small warmth that comes with seeing jaskier delighted, and then remembers jaskier's not here because geralt yelled at him, and fuck

fuck

he can't deny it to himself anymore, he's definitely missing jaskier by his side and it's only the second day

shit, it's like the world is weirdly quiet without jaskier's chatter, his mind irritatingly silent where before there had been a space full of words and melodic laughter and teasing grins and he didn't even realize he made space for jaskier in his life because he didnt want to admit it to himself that they were friends

were they best friends? is this how friendship makes you feel? has jaskier been right this entire time?

he thinks he would ask jaskier about it and then feels guilty because he doesnt have jaskier, he yelled at him on a mountain top, and then geralt thinks that those thoughts are probably telling enough

fuck, he misses his bard... dare he admit it to himself? he misses his... friend
