JULY REC FICS
Hello, my sweets!! I wanted to try something out to provide my full and utter support to all the amazing writers I've come across in the form of monthly rec fics (starting this month). Join me in giving them love through comments and reblogs. It really is a joy to hear how you're doing as a writer. It makes up for all the angst we write lol
I will be going based on what I've read recently and not by the date the fic was posted. And the number of fics will depend on how much I've read the entire month. Also, please respect these writers. Some contents are 18+, so MINORS should not be interacting in any way, especially when the authors themselves specify it.
— ✿ — ✿ ✿ — ✿ ✿ ✿
Spencer Reid
✿ a question unasked by @easy-there-leftovers ↳ SOOOO ADORABLE. I'm a workaholic craze gal, so it speaks to me on a silly level.
✿ missing the happy hormone by @lavenderspence ↳ I'm a sucker for Spencer fluff this month, what can I say? This fic Tina made had my waterworks going on for about a minute because it's so sweet
✿ desk duty by @reiderwriter ↳ All you have to know is the amount of evil laugh I made while reading this
✿ the theory of love by @ophelia-is-complex ↳ Genuine intimacy is quite a challenge to write, but THIS ONE, this one had me in a sappy mood
✿ like nothing matters by @cerisereids ↳ gagged and had to pause the reading so many times because HELLO— had me spiraling at work
✿ the devils disguise by @qlossytbh ↳ I said I sobbed a little bit, but I actually cried so much I ended up taking a nap and felt better afterward. It's all fluff, though, don't get me wrong. I'm just very dramatic when the red devil's on the clock
✿ not so funny by @reidmania ↳ Angsty, that made me wanna start a fight with some random twiggy tall guy. Sooooo good!
✿ cloaked in passions touch by @raekensluver ↳ If you don't like Spencer's hands, you're fucking lying to yourself!!!!!
✿ language of devotion by @gghostwriter ↳ I'm in love with reid, and this fic just had me stumbling back onto his lap like a good gal
✿ this req response by @mandarinmoons ↳ Sorry, I'm not sure what the title is, but it's so adorable and got me to go to work, so kind of a lifesaver tbh
✿ hallucinate by @gghostwriter ↳ Oooo, this one was so cute, hehe. Honestly, I lean towards Spencer fluff lately just because I've been too overstimulated with work this past month, so READ THIS ONE ITS CUTE
✿ it's golden, like daylight by @dudeitiskarev ↳ I actually felt like I was reader the entire time I read this. It's well-written and so adorable and something that should be framed in a museum
✿ much ado about nothing series by @incognit0slut ↳ binged it all morning, and I was whipped !!! It's ongoing, so if I have to wait, so does everybody else
— ✦ — ✦ ✦ — ✦ ✦ ✦
Aaron Hotchner
✦ choiceless hope series by @hotchfiles ↳ This series had me rolling over my bed on a Saturday. A lot of feelings getting played (mostly mine)
✦ beanstalk by @solardrop ↳ I kid you not; I was giggling like a weirdo when I read it. And that itself deserves the recommendation.
✦ too busy being yours by @hotchfiles ↳ Lari knows how to get a sick gal to giggle. I love bau!rossi!reader. I love Rossi as reader's dad, so I enjoyed it more than I thought I would
✦ ignorance by infatuation by @boneblushed ↳ Oh, this one was a nice snack while on my break at work. LOVED IT SO MUCH
✦ hungover by @basketonthedoorstepofthefbi ↳ Mmmm, such a good read! Plus Jemily is there sooooo
✦ from across the bar by @hotchscoffeecup ↳ Evil laugh ensues. A nice cuppa of some good ole kinky stuff
✦ doomed by @hotchfiles ↳ guys, I stopped my car in the middle of driving home just to read it, so it's THAT good. Honestly, I strongly encourage everyone to read all of Lari's works! She's my writer crush, if none of you realized it by now
✦ a bunch of cuties in love by @lavenderspence ↳ hehehehehehe this definitely did not remind me of that one older guy I used to flirt with who had an adorable younger brother that I babysat🤭
✦ schrodinger's cat by @none-of-your-bullshit ↳ angst on a Saturday morning is like taking a shot of soju before 11 am, and this one felt like it <3
how about you also comment your top 3 fave fics for this month to spread more love to our great writers?

i don't really have any solid conclusions about this yet but i noticed A Thing in a rewatch and i haven't found it mentioned elsewhere yet so here we go
(apologies for the appalling image quality you're about to see, i can't screenshot easily rn pls bear with)
OKAY so in the scene where crowley confronts gabriel about "shut up and die", something about the arrangement of book stacks caught my eye a little
the majority of the books are angled so that we mostly just see the page edges and not the spines clearly, EXCEPT for a particularly shiny and familiar colour combo right here-
Tumblr media
but nothing too weird going on there, i thought, crowley coloured books in a bookshop so what? right up until i registered crowley's line when we get a closer look-
Tumblr media
hhhhmmmmMMmmmm yes yes "everything just the way you wanted" huh, very interesting considering that we know how much thought goes into props huh
and for most of the shots we get of crowley in this position those freaking books are just quietly nestled right there in the corner-
Tumblr media
look at that god damn framing i fuckin see you, you glorious bastards
so i paused to see if i could figure out what the hell was up with those fuckers and this is when i absolutely lost my mind, your honour
Tumblr media
A and C you say?? in crowley colours???? framed like this?????? localised entirely within your kitchen???
anyway long story short they're two books from an Agatha Christie Crime Collection set (24 volumes, three stories per volume) and guess whats on the mfing front covers I'm-
(its a rant for another post but when paired with this other set of initials spotted in s2 i want to scream actually)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
ANYWAY back to the books, through an absolutely unhinged comparison of the formatting of gold text blobs i reckon the two we have here are:
(on top) The Pale Horse; The Big Four, The Secret Adversary
(on bottom) 4:50 From Paddington, Lord Edgeware Dies, Murder in Mesopotamia
(I'm fairly confident but if anyone has a better image to confirm/correct this pls do)
now here is where I'll need a bunch of help from some Christie-heads out there bc I haven't read any of these and I've only seen the tv adaptation of one of them, so i dont know for sure if these are like A Clue, or A Cool Thing, or if I've just fully brainrotted myself into a fun lil corner here? wa-hoo
but here's some initial stuff that jumped out at me after skimming the basics:
(some of) the titles: Pale Horse/Big Four - death's horse ofc, the four horsemen mayb? the them+adam?? ; Mesopotamia is a very biblical choice bbz ; 4:50 From Paddington- azi likes trains i guess? idk that one's tenuous lmao ; honestly no idea with the other two but Secret Adversary feels a tad ominous
iirc Big Four just has kind of an unusual history, it was initially twelve short stories that she later compiled into one, and it was published fairly soon after christie's mysterious disappearance/reappearance
in Big Four, poirot fakes his death at one point and doesnt even let hastings in on it and I'm hoping sure its totally irrelevant to the ineffable bois
part of the Pale Horse story is a group of assassins that basically try to pass off all their murders as being actually caused by like ✨satanic powers✨ which is interesting
christie knew a fUCkton about poisonings thats why she wrote so many into her work and, while i don't believe the poison coffee theory myself, it sure is an interesting link with how cyanide is associated with almond smell/flavour and that metatron chooses almond syrup in particular
(ALSO random side note that is mostly meaningless but I've worked in a good few uk coffee shops and have never worked anywhere that stocks almond syrup; almond milk yes, hazelnut syrup yes, but never almond syrup...? prob just the places i worked though lmao)
EDIT forgotten point: I've seen some speculation that the bently's plate reading "CURTAIN" could be a reference to poirot's last story, along side that alternate scene of crowley ordering the sherry for "miss marple", its just one too many agatha christie references for my melted brain to handle and I'm SUS
so this is where i run out of idea steam and hand it over to you lot because i have no clue what this could mean, if it even means anything other than a cool set feature
is there something here actually or am i yelling into the void just for fun?
who knows, who cares!

How to annotate your books like i do
i'm writing this because i am bored :)
📰🪶
what you will need:
- a bunch of annotation tabs in a variety of colours (you can buy these on amazon)
- a pencil (preferably tiny so it's not always in your way, but that's up to you.)
- no pens. too permanent and they bleed
- no eraser
- no ruler
- no highlighters, colour pens, or colour pencils
- a pencil hook holder thing that you attach to the plastic flat thing that your annotation tabs are on and put your pencil through. compact. keeps all your stuff together when you're not using the pencil
- a book. obviously
- a drink: optional, and unrelated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How i make the key:
choose colours that match your book. I usually pick out 5 based on intuition. This is how i make my key:
- the darkest colour is for sad/ horrifying/ basically wtf moments
- i always have one for quotes
- i sometimes have one for fun fact; depends on the book
- i like to have a tab that i label as "hm" which basically means "ooh interesting idea proposed here" (not all books will let me have this tab. like a fantasy book wouldnt have this tab, but a dystopian book would. i love it when books allow me to add this tab ^^)
- sometimes i have one for beautiful descriptions and writing
- i have one for cool protagonist moments
- i have another for 'cool character moments: side characters' (i only give side characters their own tab if i find that i am very attached to them. like i was reading the poppy war, and i was bookmarking kitay moments alot so i decided to give him his own colour)
honestly, i do alot of this based on my intuition, and i like to adapt it as i go along
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also here are some more general facts abt my annotation habits:
- i usually leave space in my annotation key because half way through the story i will probably add more to the key
- i don't believe in having a tab for plot points. i'd much rather write my thoughts on foreshadowing and plot theories in the margins of the book with my pencil. i see no need to give it a tab
- my pencil is everything. i try to use pencil to express my thoughts whenever i can. i only tab when i really loved a scene or line and feel that my future self would want to easily flip to it
- i don't force myself to be articulate in my written annotations cus there's no space to be. most of the time i just wrote lol, aw, draw a skull, draw a straight lined face, or draw a crying face so that my future self can see what i was feeling when reading it
- i don't like underlining a whole paragraph, i feel like it looks clunky. so instead i draw a bracket like this [ in the margine so it draws my attention to that entire paragraph and future me will know that i found that entire paragraph to be interesting
- my lines are messy, and i love it. it breaks my reading rhythm to bust out a ruler and meticulously rule my lines, i just wing it and move on
- usually, in my annotation key, to start with, there are no tabs for ships. i usually add that in later on if there is any that i care about. if there is romance that i don't care about then i simply won't add a tab.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
my annotation experience is very personal and it's done for my future self, or anyone that would like to see my personal thoughts on the story.
i don't care to annotate in a logical way. i won't make tabs for every main character or every plot device or every romance ship. that makes me feel like i'm shallowly categorizing the scenes in the book... ykwim?
- ooh also, by the end of the book, if i find that i am head over heels in love with it, i'll usually go back and draw on any blank space i can find (i try to draw the scene that is happening)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
btw none of these photos are mine
thanks for coming to my ted talk

hii i recently started reading your work, cyanide narwhal, and am honestly really hooked! i love your characterization so much and find the story you built around the lore really, really interesting!
i’m not deeply familiar with the intricacies of the lore in genshin impact, but i’ve been fascinated by it for a while—and reading your story made me realize how much depth i was missing out on…is there any sources or ways you can reccomend as a primer/introductory to genshin lore? i really want to learn more and understand the theories better! thank youuu
aaa thank you! and this is actually a really interesting question
obviously my first thought was just play the world quests and pay attention, but not only is the info in the world quests sometimes incomplete, but i understand perfectly that some people just skimmed the dialogue at best and now cannot replay them but the fact of the matter is that the best way to get into some parts of the lore is via the world quests
still, there's plenty of people on youtube who do timeline and lore recaps without theories - as in, just telling you the lore that one can learn from the quests in a more streamlined manner. they're always a great choice!
there's also the artifact and material lore, which does usually contain a lot of info, but is usually kinda cryptic. the good thing about those is that you're not locked out of reading them, so as long as you have the necesary pieces, you can just go into the in-game archives and read up there. as with the world quests, though, there's also plenty of people on youtube doing full analyses on the lore of those
i think once you have a rough idea of some of the relevant names and lorebits, that while daunting at first, the wiki's timeline page is rather helpful when it comes to trying to get the bigger picture of when exactly everything happened in relation to other things. reading the little annotations and notes they put on where they got their info and when they've had to make extra calculations for some things' placements also goes a long way.
once you've started to understand more of the out-of-the-way lore, going to theorists is also a great way to catch the more interesting ways this game is built. as in- real-world references and inspirations.
because telling you 'oh you can find it on youtube' still sort of leaves you having to figure out how to even look for it, here's a little list of the youtubers whose videos i've watched at least once for these things. not a comprehensive list of course, but from there some of them shout each other out and you can navigate the recommended section for more videos, so!
as with all things lore-related in this game, keep in mind when the videos were made in relation to the game's patch version. the ones that are more just strict lore read-throughs are less vulnerable to later patches sort of- changing some of the context? (looking at you remuria) but still. and obviously theory videos are even more dependant on that. so:
for lore analysis (most of these are strictly just the lore with little speculation, but there's probably some extrapolation here anyway): - Ashikai has a great beginner's guide series on region lore, but it only covers up to sumeru so far. still, might be a great place to start! there's also some quest recaps and lore details here and here - Francis Lee Arthur has a great series of very concise videos of world quest recaps, though they sadly don't have mondstadt and liyue quests, and only a handful of inazuma quests. still, they're great videos, and there's a ton of sumeru and fontaine quests (and one chenyu vale quest i think) - SiliconOneFour has a bunch of videos on artifact and weapon lore, and some recent ones on stuff like the remuria timeline, mondstadt's aristocracy, the history of the temple of silence, etc - KlemenTime has a bunch of videos on pieces of lore that aren't really laid out explicitly on world quests, but that you sort of learn through exploration? idk how to describe it. they also have artifact lore, and while not in the playlist, if you go to their profile they also have some more borad sumeru and natlan timeline videos - Minsleif has archon quest and world quest recaps, along with other lorebits. there's also their massive 1-min reel lorebit video collection on much shorter things
for theories (some of these have a mix of lore+theory videos so i'm putting them here bc i wanted ot keep the 'just the facts' videos to the section above): - Ashikai is my favorite theory nerd in the community so forgive the bias, but there's the incredible project:teyvat series and the world structure series, which are two massive theories about the way teyvat as a world functions. i think you might want to save these ones for after you've familiarized yourself with the lore. other than that, there's plenty of other theories to sift through (though bear in mind these are ALL the theories, so there's project:teyvat and world structure stuff here? but the titles will help you know which they are if you want to save them for later) - The Laughing Man has a ton of videos on lore and theory/speculation on like- a ton of stuff, along with character analyses - roozevelt has a bunch of videos on lore and theories, mostly revolving around the traveler and khaenri'ah, but there's plenty of other stuff there also - My Name For Now has a very interesting massive khaenri'ah theory, theories on the descenders, on the elemental system, and a bunch of other lore theory videos - Minsleif does have theories also (but i personally can't remeber if i've ever watched one. still, they're there if you want to check them out!) - Wei has theory videos that look like shitposts and sometimes feel like shitposts, but god, there's some interesting stuff there. i wouldn't know how to even describe it though, most of it is traveler related but still (also this is a general theories playlist, but like all their theories are from genshin with the exception of one jjk theory so like- i mean yeah, just letting you know why that's there lmao)
And here's the wiki's timeline page
so uhhhh yeah! hope you have fun if you decide to watch any of the videos from anyone there. of course there's probably a lot of other theorists and recap channels, but these are the ones i've watched at least once, so, pick and choose which ones you like best. have fun!
TL;DR: you can still access a bunch of lore in-game via the artifacts, weapons, and weapon materials, and any world quests you might not have played yet. but since i recognize that's a daunting task and the info is scattered and incomplete and confusing, watching video recaps might be the way to go. Ashikai's beginners guides are great introductions and refreshers, and there's plenty of videos to catch up on world quests or to have someone explain artifact and weapon lore to you

Don't normally do the Wednesday WIP day (peep the hastily edited banner), but I am in the mood for talking today. Thanks for the tags @brendughh @shrekgogurt @prettygoododds @thewholelemon and @monbons! And @hushed-chorus, I'm so excited to read all the fics on that rec list!
In terms of writing, I have accomplished a minimal portion of the editing needed for the next chapter I'm posting from Proof of Life. I'm very excited about this one and I think you guys are going to really like it! I'll share a real snippet on Sunday, but this chapter was really fun because I got to make up some more spells!
Making up spells is one of my favorite things to do for fics and honestly it was kind of sad that this fic didn't call for it too much. My last long wip (Do As You're Told) had a bunch of spells comparatively and I had so much fun creating them. I always start by googling "list of clichés" and scrolling past the first part of whatever article I find that says "do not use clichés in your writing", then look through to find phrases that speak to me.
I also check that list of spells on the Snowbaz wiki, i'm unsure how accurate that is because I know fanwiki's can have dubious information sometimes, but I like to have a mix of canon spells and new spells. One time though I thought I'd made up a spell and then it was already on the wiki and I was so sad 😭
All that being said, here's an alphabetical list of spell used and/or discussed in chapters 5 and 6 of Proof of Life. Purple ones I've made up
A good man is hard to find
Come out come out wherever you are
Find your way home
Get well soon
Good as new
Needle in a haystack
No love lost
Return to sender
Rise and shine
Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you
Sweet dreams*
Who’s your daddy
Winter, spring, summer, or fall
Even the playing field
The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth
Feel free to share any theories about what these are used for
Tag under the cut!

I just happened upon your blog (right terminology?) and I’m learning a lot. One thing that startled me was your referring to Crowley and Aziraphale’s love (sex) life as a matter of course, something seemingly everyone but me knew about. I was blown away and really wanted it to be true. After all, they’ve had to do without so much—openness, safety, the expectation of future togetherness. It would too unfair if they had to do without physical consummation too. What’s the deal with this? How do we know it’s so? What’s the history? Please enlighten me. Have you written posts about this? I’d love to read them. Thanks
Hello! Thanks for the ask. Nice to meet you. I call it a blog because I'm old and don't know the cool terms but we can call it whatever lol. I have no idea re: how many people who view the show and are able to see that Crowley & Aziraphale are more than friends (because, believe it or not, that concept still shocks some lol) who think that they're already lovers. I do think I'm sort of in the minority, maybe, even if there are a bunch of people who think that they're already a thing. When scrolling through the Ineffable Husbands tag on here, I tend to see a lot more posts that suggest that they aren't lovers and that 2.06 was their first kiss. (Let's hope that it's not lol.)
I guess I would say that if you are thinking about whether or not they might be, consider that Good Omens shows you most of its story out of chronological order in order to give layered meaning to the stuff you've already seen so, just with that knowledge alone, it would be actually pretty surprising if 2.06 was the first time they'd kissed. In S2 itself, earlier on, there's some heavy suggestion that it's not. If you want to read about when I think that happened, go here and I'll link you one more post at the bottom of this response here:
While I like to read all points of view-- I read a lot of aro ace GO stuff as well, even if I don't necessarily see that in my own interpretations of things-- I have thought they were sleeping together since the first time I watched S1 a few years back and S2 just kinda reinforced that for me. I think that, technically-speaking, there's a path to either they still haven't gotten together or that they're long-time lovers. I say that but honestly... it's more like if they somehow do something that suggests that they're only getting together during/after S3, I think it could kinda work but I honestly don't actually think that's the story they're writing. I'm pretty firmly set on the idea that they've been sleeping together for, uh, a very long time at this point. Someone told me the other day via messages that they would burn my house down if I did not finish a sex meta that I promised people so I best maybe get on that and also potentially call the police lol. (I am both flattered and scared?). So, uh, I'll get that up soon... I wrote a couple of longer metas lately about different eras of their relationship that are replies to recent asks on my blog-- I'd probably recommend the one about what they call each other and coded love confessions in 1941, if you're looking to read about them as a couple that's already a couple (even if they would have an anxiety attack at the word 'couple', as Crowley does in 2.06 lol). Will link it below. I'm very flattered that you and others have asked to read more of what I think and I have gotten asked a lot for more sex-related content so, uh, watch this space, I guess? :)
Make yourself a tea first or plan to come back to it as I'm wordy lol:

Why the Funtime Animatronics are terrifying
Content Warning: Mentions of child murder
My last post was a design analysis of Ballora in which I talked about all the reasons I find her so haunting. I had a lot of fun writing it and so I thought, why not do it for the rest of the Funtimes? Although I will be mentioning her, I wont be going into much detail, so if you want to check out the full post you can do so here. Otherwise, I want to take a look at each animatronic, going over their aesthetic design as well as their blueprints, voice lines and gameplay mechanics to explain why I love them and maybe share some theories too. I will be annotating the blueprints as I understand the small text could be hard to read. So, without further ado, let's get into it!
Funtime Foxy
"A performance was demanded of me, and now I have delivered! Encore!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keeping in mind the whole Circus theme, I think Foxy most closely resembles a Ringmaster. The shape of his torso, the red in his bowtie and the loud booming voice we hear in UCN sells that for me. I think my favourite thing about this iteration of Foxy is how alive he looks. It's not everyday we get a Foxy that is so shiny and new! Now, Funtime Foxy's blueprints are pretty easy to understand but there are two interesting things to note. The first is that section D directs the reader to "Circus Baby dir07" meaning the remote activation of his floor anchor is controlled by her. The second is his size, he is the shortest and the lightest of the four. All in all, Funtime Foxy isn't the most intimidating of the bunch, I'd say despite the sharp teeth he actually looks quite cute and friendly. However, there's a reason for that. Funtime Foxy wasn't made to kill, he was made to lure. He, like Ballora, was created to help keep guests entertained to distract them away from Funtime Freddy and/or Circus Baby, the two animatronics big enough to store the bodies of the victims, the two designed to kill. Although Funtime Foxy doesn't speak in SL, his UCN voice lines all relate to him performing. His UCN gameplay also sees the player keeping track of showtime, the player being jump scared if they aren't watching his stage once the time ticks over. Again, Funtime Foxy is an entertainer, luring guests to his stage to keep attention away from Circus Baby and Funtime Freddy when their.. other services are needed.
Funtime Freddy
"Bon-Bon, Say hi to our friends!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again with the Circus theme, I think Funtime Freddy resembles a Magician. He has the black bowtie, the top hat and he even has a little bunny friend, Bon-Bon! Although, I don't think Freddy can pull him out of his hat.. Honestly, I think he is kind of adorable, especially with his little hand puppet Bon-Bon at his side, but his blueprints are where things start to get more ominous. Ignoring the glaringly obvious child body inside Freddy's stomach, each section gives us something pretty intriguing. Bon-Bon allows him to essentially have eyes on the back of his head, while he himself can mimic voices and keep track of how close his victim is. As mentioned above, I think Funtime Freddy is one of the two killer animatronics, alongside Circus Baby. However, Funtime Freddy raises some questions. Why is he significantly smaller than Circus Baby? Does he have the same claw inside his stomach? Well, I believe that he probably does have the same claw, but because he doesn't need space for the internal ice cream dispenser or the air hose attachment like Circus Baby has, he has no need to be as big. Afterall, he has Bon-Bon and his voice mimicking feature to lure kids in! If you yourself have a different theory, please feel free to let me know!
Circus Baby
"You won't die, but you'll wish you could."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everybody's favourite little (huge) Jester, Circus Baby, isn't really one that needs much explanation from me. We all know what she looks like and we all know what she's capable of. Despite her blueprints wanting you to believe she is totally innocent, her voice lines and minigame tell us a different story. What I want to explore is why she was designed to look like a Jester. For those who aren't aware, Jester's privilege is the ability and right of a Jester to talk and mock freely without being punished. In a way, Jesters were free to question and mock the King because of this privilege. We know Circus Baby was modelled after Elizabeth Afton, but maybe she was also designed as a Jester to signify Elizabeth's place beside her father, William Afton, and how she would often disobey (question/mock) her father's orders, the way she did when Circus Baby killed her. Her being the tallest, most powerful animatronic and having remote control over functions inside Funtime Foxy and Ballora also serves to remind us how important she is. Just food for thought. Anyway, I love Circus Baby because I think her lore is incredibly interesting, but I also simply love her design. She was so unlike anything we'd ever seen before in the franchise and she really breathed new life into the story.
Tumblr media
Overall, I think the Funtimes are really fascinating because they were so unlike anything that came before them. The idea of Circus Baby's Pizza World was so different and this was the first time we saw animatronics that were undeniably created for the purpose of killing. By the time of Pizzeria Simulator we also found out about the scooper being used to experiment with Remnant. Sister Location is, to this day, one of my favourite FNAF games and I will never forget the feeling I got watching the opening cutscene, seeing the secret ending to Circus Baby's minigame or even seeing Ennard through the Scooping Room window. I am really excited to see what comes from the upcoming release of Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 and I can't wait to write more design analysis posts and theories of some of my other favourites from across the franchise!

The Dollhouse
Tumblr media
(the prison isn't actually called the dollhouse in-universe, that's just my nickname for it.)
i used 74's post on the milgram interiors as a reference.
this post will be updated as things progress.
Tumblr media
Court
this is mostly based off of my own theory/headcanon for the court in milgram. even if it turns out to be something else in canon, i probably won't change my mind about it in here.
Warden's Room & Bathroom
no one has been in the court since the start of dollgram. none of the prisoners even know what's in it and s refuses to acknowledge its existence.
it was very plain at first, with a bed, a nightstand, a desk with a chair and a lamp, a closet (although all of the clothes were copies of the warden's uniform), empty shelves, and a table on the corner with a machine that looks like a printer (this is where the "logs" of the prisoner's conversations are made). additionally, there's a tv on the wall, but it can only be used to play and replay the prisoner's MVs. there's no remote; s is pretty sure she's controlling it telepathically.
since arriving, s has gotten some more pillows and blankets for the bed, stocked the shelves with books (she can't remember what she used to like, so whenever one of the prisoners order one, she orders a copy for herself, both to find out more about them and to see if she likes it), ordered a few sets of pajamas which she stores in the closet, and piled the desk with notebooks where she writes down notes on the prisoners, what she has been dreaming about, scripts for conversations, as well as her personal diary.
the bathroom is a standard bathroom. i don't know. i haven't thought about it much other than the fact that it exists.
Jackalope's Room (allegedly)
nobody knows what's in it.
Interrogation Room
a small room with a table and two chairs. most of the prisoners avoided it at first, but yuuhiko went there to hide from the others. then nobui found out about it and started going there to bug him.
Facilities
don't ask me how any of this works i have no idea. i'm so confused about how the uniforms work even in canon milgram. honestly i've decided to just not think about it unless we get some clarification. these rooms exist. and the prisoners use them. and so does s but only the laundry room and only when everyone's asleep.
Kitchen
a simple kitchen. i imagine it looks somewhat like the one in the manga. although it doesn't have a table, it's just for cooking.
it only had the bare minimum ingredients at the start, but the prisoners have slowly been stocking it with more stuff.
after people (jun and yuuhiko) kept trying to shirk cooking duty, tadashi made a paper with the proper order and taped it to the wall. then nobui drew a bunch of stuff along the edges to make it "more awesome". s sees it every time she goes to the kitchen and doesn't put herself on it because she's a little freeloader.
Storage Room
at first it had common household items, but the prisoners store anything they request that isn't a personal item in there. surprisingly, the whole room stayed very organized, because half of the prisoners are neat freaks.
Panopticon
it looks pretty much identical to the one in the novel. because of the table, it's been denominated the meeting and dining room.
the prisoners have an unspoken agreement to not look into eachother's cells.
The Cells
all of them looked the same in the beginning: a bed, a desk with a chair and a lamp, and a closet. with time, they have been decorating.
in jun's cell, the bed is full of pillows and plushies. she uses her desk as a vanity table, and even placed a mirror against the wall to complete the look. she also taped posters of her favorite idols and bands to the walls.
tadashi's cell mostly stayed the same. they store the books they're currently reading in their cell, but move them to the storage room when they're done.
nobui draws on the walls of her cell whenever the inspiration strikes her. she has what she calls the "chill zone", a blanket on the floor with a few pillows, snacks and manga.
yuuhiko also hasn't done much with his cell, because he doesn't stay there much. he just leaves his things there when he's not using them.

I'm a delena lover too and wanted to know any delena UOs you have? A few of mine if you promise not to make fun of me - 1. I honestly don't think delena is nearly as "toxic" as it's made out to be? I mean, context matters, and this is a show about screwed up monstrous vampires, so no ship is going to be the epitome of 'healthy' lol. But I actually find delena a lot more honest and real than stelena was and a lot less toxic than klaroline. They communicate and adapt much more than antis give them credit for and are genuinely loving and supportive. I'm dying on that unpopular hill :) 2. I actually think s5 is my favorite delena season? It leaned in to the "but they're not healthy!" stuff too much, but it also showed them at their best, most loyal and passionate and adoring, without the icky shadow of the 'sire bond' crap that ruined s4 for me. And Elena is so...free that season? I don't know, I just love it. S6 has great domestic moments but yet another unpopular opinion is that something about the 'falling in love all over again with no memories' storyline felt really inauthentic and rushed to me. I like it in theory, just not the execution. 3. Delena is NOT just about physical attraction. At all. Like I truly believe that even if they could never have sex again they'd be very happy together. They connect on a much deeper level imo, seeing each other for who they truly are. 4. I do not in any way buy Elena as a doctor or even a science person---in my mind she became a teacher or a counselor :) 5. Elena is thought to be similar to Stefan but imo in actuality she's more like Damon imo---super passionate, follows her heart and instincts to a degree that some see as selfish, reacts in the moment rather than focusing on the past or future etc. 6. I actually think Damon has a better, softer heart than Stefan. He's crazy and impulsive and self-destructive and a whole bunch of other things, but he's also a lot softer and more willing to acknowledge his flaws and try to change than Stefan is. Again, these are all just my very UOs! Can't wait to read yours too!!
Hi anon! I adore them- like there’s three ships that I really feel encapsulate romantic love for me, that taught me what it is and how it works, and Delena was the second of those ships so it means a lot to me personally
So I am so far removed from fandom I barely know what counts as popular opinions and unpopular opinions, but feel free to ask me specific questions at any time! Though my two fav characters are Tyler and Bonnie if that counts <3 I’ll start by kinda saying my thoughts on the things you mentioned as your unpopular opinions- which I fully understand even when we slightly disagree! Below the cut so it’s easier for my non-tvd followers
On Delena being called toxic- I talked about it in part before (but alas I can’t find the post) and contrary to popular belief I think they’re not toxic (granted after they get together) outside of the regular amount you should expect in all teen dramas regardless of supernatural elements or not. Unlike a lot of the other relationships they have a lot of communication and consent involved from the start, because they have to with the precarious Stefan ties and the sire bond. On top of that they both acknowledge the parts of their relationship that aren’t the best and actively work towards making them better, however, with the flaws and missteps afforded for drama ✨
I can’t be impartial about s5- definitely not enough to be able to decide about Delena in it. I wasn’t a fan of that brand of angst tbh (sorry anon I do get the appeal) and the racism throughout just hurt my heart too much- but they definitely had some top tier sexy moments. Personally, I loved season six because of the approach of them sharing a best friend and all the little moments and musical beats. Like- watching Damon want to live became something so important to me and really felt like the conclusion for his character arc.
As for the sexual aspect- I do think it plays a part (as with every relationship that involves sex) but it definitely isn’t the peak of it or the draw, it’s a perk. Because if it was the sex they’d have been done with each other after that long hot summer. But there is a tendency in fandom to try and remove all romance and depth to relationships they don’t like- because if it’s shallow they can be rude and dismissive to shippers.
In regards to Elena- I don’t think she’s too similar to either Salvatore, I think she shares common traits with both. But at the end of the day it wa she’d similarities to Stefan that drew them together and her differences to Damon that drew them together. Which is why Stefan was a relationship that let her heal and come back to herself and Damon was the relationship that pushed her out of her comfort zone and helped her grow.
As for Stefan and Damon I don’t think there’s anything to be gained from claiming any one character is “softer” or more “moral” than another. It’s all about action and reaction and growth. However, I think you might be catching onto the sensitivity of their triggers, which Damon’s trauma responses are way more easily triggered throughout the series because unlike Stefan he hasn’t sat with them and worked through near as much of his traumatic experiences. Which is why his healing process through Elena learning of and reminding him to be kind to himself you watch him heal and grow. Which isn’t to be confused with him being “defanged” for a romance- because it was happening regardless of if he and Elena stayed friends or not.

After reading What is...? by @creativepromptsforwriting (if you haven't read her blog or follow her WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?)
I decided to add some of my notes here too. Because it's on the little things I've been studying every night to get better at writing. So please consider this post as part/collab of "What is...?"
★Please keep in mind that this comes from someone whose first language it's not english, so, what for some might be obvious, for others it is not.
Blurb? is a short promotional description on your book. But can also be used to promote movies and other things.
Needs: Hook + Keywords (define an audience) + keep it short and leave them wanting for more.
* Remember to check for spelling and grammar mistakes.
Nowadays you can use quotes from your book as promo too. Pinterest is your best ally here. Make a bunch of attractive images with a colorful quotes and upload it on your social media! ^♡^
Honestly when it comes to promos you should exploit it all (meaning: create quotes, collage, your cover, promos, etc!) Be your own fan. Create a playlist, ambience, set the mood. Let your own world drag you into the woods, do not resist it.
If you love it, other will love it too.
W.I.P.? Means Work in Progress. So you have yet a lot to do to finish your story. it's okay, it takes time \^♡^/
Pathetic fallacy Vs Personification?
Pathetic fallacy
It's specifically about giving emotions to something non-human (objects, nature, or animals)
Writers use the pathetic fallacy to evoke a specific mood or feeling that usually reflects their own or a character's internal state. While I have seen some detractors of using this technique, think of Emily Brontë novel, Wuthering Heights, or Shakespeare in several of his works like Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth. Or Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. So study it and use it carefully and you should be fine. Times change but you should write however you want too.
Personification
On the other hand, is giving any human attribute to an object.
Think of The Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Toy Story as great examples of what personification is.
Atmosphere?  is the way an author uses setting, objects, or internal thoughts of characters to create emotion, mood, or experiences for the reader.
For me Mary Shelley with Frankenstein is one of the most accurate examples I can give, but when I think about it, Robinson Crusoe, and Moby Dick, both feel tremendously claustrophobic and desperate to the reader, full of details, the time passes slowly and it's insufferable. Which in theory is not okay because the reader can drop the book but guess what? They're classic because you want to know what happens next. Which brings me to my next point, if you want to know more about the art of writing, you should try the following channels on YT:
Abbie Emmons
She has some interesting videos, but one crazy tip that will change your mind. It actually works. And don't worry, she keeps repeating it over and over so you learn it too. She also offers some courses and several activities like writing together (in case you're trying to write but can't, now you have a date!)
Ellie Dashwood
If you're into social dynamics, subtlety and want to get better writing period stories wether they are romantic or dramas, then she's your best bet. While she doesn't teach you how to write better she does teach you literature and history. And trust me, some of these things can be more than helpful. The way she analyzes and provides for clarification over social situations has made me understand not just Jane Austen but my own time in a different way.
Fiction Beast
This is showing me a lot of literature and making me read classics. Of course it wouldn't work if it wasn't because of Ellie but it's a must! because it does explains a lot.
Ana Neu
I just discovered her and Ellen so I can't say a lot of things but their videos have been really helpful with some of the things I've been working on especially with Fit or Die, so you should check out both of these girls.
Ellen Brock
and of course, he needs no introduction, but if you didn't know, he has several classes posted on his channel which have been helping me tremendously.
Brandon Sanderson
*Disclaimer: They're not paying me for doing promo. I just do this on my own account because I truly admire their work and effort put into it. Plus, I always do this for anyone if I truly admire the way they work. And I believe this is helpful for anyone with hopes of becoming an author. Even if it's just a hobby. Have fun~!

Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you.
Tag [ten some] friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them. (THIS IS NOT IN ORDER BY ANY MEANS) 1:
Tumblr media
Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy. Classic nerd entry, I know, but the moment I read this book I fell in love with it. It kind of became a bible of sorts, in that I was crazy obsessed with it and wanted everyone to read it. Every time I found someone who hadn't read it I would give them my copy and go out and buy a new one. Must have bought this book close to 10 times now, excluding audio book versions.
2:
Tumblr media
And here we have my start into being an edgy vampire-loving teen. I was bored one day and my mom was like "shut up and read this". And I immediately loved it. I knew it wasn't the first book in the adventures of Lestat, the stupid sexy vampire, so I went to library and got every single one I could find. Contributed big time to my love of wearing black and sitting in dark rooms listening to brooding music.
3.
Tumblr media
My first Terry Pratchett book. I can't say this specific book had a lasting effect on me but it was the first Pratchett book I read that made me want to read everything else he ever wrote. I like to believe my sense of humour was built up between my love for Pratchett and Adams' works.
4.
Tumblr media
Another classic nerd entry. Even though I loved this book the only reason I read it was out of a weird sense of competitiveness. I was always proud of how many books I read as a kid, so when another kid in my class was allowed to read from the "older kids", because he could read at a higher level, I just HAD to prove that I could too. The librarian gave me this to read and I think it was to deter me because she seemed surprised I wanted to read the rest.
4.
Tumblr media
I haven't read this in a long time but I remember really liking it as a kid/young teen. I don't know if it was because I found Adrian relatable or if I saw him as something to avoid becoming but it left somewhat of an impression.
5.
Tumblr media
I bought this as a joke because I thought it would be been funny to get a reaction out of people when they found this in the collection, but it turned out to be an amazing retelling and I recommended this to everyone who loves classical romance and then have zombies show up.
6.
Tumblr media
So I am a huge fan of the Discworld series but any story that focuses on Sam Vimes is my favourite among them. Guards! Guards! is his first appearance and I always looked forward to more of him whenever I found another discworld book.
7.
Tumblr media
I read this during a time where I was looking for a type of spiritual guidance as I had just stepped away from catholic upbringing. I may have to read it again since it has been awhile but I do remember really liking the messages in the book.
8.
Tumblr media
Another one of those 'accidental reads". Was in my public library and it was on the returns trolley, and I just grabbed it on my way out. Almost didn't read it as I had taken out a bunch of Asterix and Obelix novels but I'm glad I did. Even happier when I found out there was a movie that did a really good job retelling it. (Recently bought a copy to share with my nephew one day)
9.
Tumblr media
Bit of a philosophy nerd, but a bigger pop culture nerd. Love the "Pop Culture and..." series, but this was the first one I had read. Honestly found it made consuming philosophy theory a lot more palatable.
10.
Tumblr media
This is a very recent read and it is the first one written by a first nations of Canada person. I LOVED the different perspective in the story telling. It's encouraged me to read more books by non-euro authors.
I tag:
@neuroticdragon, @javeragegamingposts, @izzykinrys, @brogestuff, @sockdilemma, @regangreenwood

Because I constantly get ads for it, have seen outlets actually speaking about it, keep getting codes from GW about it, and seen a couple YTers do sponsors for it, I figure I should mention my thoughts on Warhammer Tacticus.
Tumblr media
Short summary, it's a hexgrid based strategy RPG game for mobile platforms where you run short missions to grind out for upgrading and unlocking characters.
So yes, it's a wallet hunter.
I'll say that it doesn't accomplish this with FOMO of the "you'll maybe never get this cool thing again" in the traditional way, more the "man, wouldn't this deal that won't last forever get you the cool thing you want right now", but honestly let's just open here and say that because it's primary purpose is to try and pull revenue from you, this game will always be about the psychological battle between you and it's monetization and that's honestly going to prevent me from every heartily recommending it no matter the quality of the actual gameplay and it's as far as you need to read if you're looking to know "Will this be my staple game?"
Now for those who want to continue and want to know how the game is and what the monetization is and why you'll bounce off it, we can continue.
The gameplay is actually fairly fun, tasking you to construct a team of various factions (sometimes limiting you to specific factions alone) to face different types of enemies.
Some missions are puzzles, some are stat checks, and some are more whacky ideas of smashing together simple mechanics to see what works.
The roster is well thought out and fun to see what they'll come up with, pulling a couple of well know named characters alongside a smattering of "best of the bunch", taking a unit from various groups and condensing them down to a single character.
You gather resources and gacha material that's used for upgrades and character unlocks (with a classic shard system where you can get tokens you can eventually cash in for characters or their upgrades), and it's mostly non-offensive. Standard gacha warnings but that's not the monetization method that actually will cause you to wage the war of wills. That's actually one of the paid solutions to said war.
Instead, it's a stamina system that basically meant after a few hours with the game, the average amount of gameplay you could get would be 15 minutes at most until you were forced to wait an hour or two before resuming, practically pushing you into a pay-to-play model.
Now, I play a bunch of F2P games as well as subscription MMOs and have no issue in theory with these as concepts and the idea of monetizing mobile games, but the practice ends up being this antagonistic relationship with the game as you can feel it needling you for micro-transactions.
Anyways, this is all a very polite way of me saying that Tacticus is a game that feels like it could've been worth playing, and I felt compelled, even in my small, mostly niche corner of the internet to speak up as I keep getting bombarded with ads to talk about it, especially because it's one of those games where you don't immediately feel like it's as predatory, with how much is available via gameplay.
Also it's just hilarious to see that the predatory monetization is like almost 15 years out of date and stolen from late 2000's facebook games even with the gacha system in the game. It's very much in line with 40k's in universe "we are using outdated stuff because we don't want to invent new things" approach.

When and why did you start shipping Jonsa?
I literally do not know.
Time for a long dissertation of my watching experience: I was obsessed with the show but never participated in online fandom while it was airing. I did, however, sometimes google theories and read reddit posts with my bff while on break at work, and I listened to A LOT of podcasts about it (at the time, my job was very monotonous and podcasts helped me survive). The podcasts went over the show, but there were some that also had entire episodes dedicate to the books & theories.
I swear I must have heard the Jon/Sansa theory on one of these podcasts, because I don't remember coming up with it on my own? But I do remember posing the question to my friends at, I think, my s6 finale party: do you think it would make sense if they married, considering GRRM originally outlined Jon/Arya? Their reactions were of mostly of disgust because they all still thought they were siblings. I had read the books & a bunch of theories and was very sure they were cousins, so it never squicked me out like it probably should have (for those not aware, I can handle cousin marriage in period pieces, but that's it lol).
Anyway, I clearly was semi-shipping it while watching, but honestly I do not tend to ship too much in general, so I wasn't out here reading fic of it or seeking out any content. I just thought they both uplifted & made each other better, and that's what I tend to look for in ships.
Anyway, cut to 6 months after the GOT finale. I was taking new birth control and it was FUCKING UP my brain chemistry and I fell into a really bad depression and tried everything to get out of it. One day, I went "you know what I used to love? Fanfic. Let me try that." I genuinely cannot remember how I stumbled onto GOT fanfic. Probably because I still wasn't over the horrid finale, and even though I cannot read show-canon fics, I started reading through the Jonsa tag. Again, I cannot remember *actively* shipping them during the show, but I guess I felt the safest in the jonsa tag, and haven't left since.
Fanfic is where my active shipping of them really took off, so thank you to all the authors who wrote thousands of fics. You helped with my depression and gave me a new hobby, because I started writing less than a year later :)

I would like to post some spoilery thoughts on Baldur's Gate 3 but I have no idea where tumblr makes cuts with long posts anymore so I'm just going to ramble about non-spoilery stuff at first and tag stuff and hopefully everything will work out. Honestly if you're reading this and you don't want to see anything that might potentially be a spoiler you should click away.
Playing BG3 felt like playing Dragon Age Origins with Inquisition's graphics and better hair (so many hair options). I remember there was a big deal made wrt how NPCs would react to your character (or as Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation says "HELLO YOU ARE AN ELF!") and there's a lot of that here as well. In my case I was playing a tiefling so NPCs kept rudely referring to my character as "hellspawn" or "devil spawn". I suspect if your character is human fewer NPCs will call you names, that's the tradeoff for being nerfed I guess.
Even on medium settings the game is very pretty. I just like walking around in the world, listening to my companions insult each other.
I'm really enjoying the combat system. D:OS made turn-based combat a challenge with all the environmental effects and enemies who weren't afraid to use them. The enemies in this game will not hesitate to climb things to get a height advantage, cast grease and then set it on fire. If they get a surprise round you might as well reload because bare minimum you will start the battle very injured.
Okay so I want to talk about spoilery bits.
Okay so monster designs. I've always thought mind flayers were kind of goofy (also why are they basically responsible for everything wrong in the multiverse let a different creature have a turn) but then I played the intro to this game and they are fucking terrifying. One design I absolutely loved was the hag. I love that she has very obvious fey features. For some reason some folks think hags are fiends, they are not, they are evil fey. Also her boss fight was a bitch. I am also very concerned for the lady walking around Baldur's Gate with her zombified husband and will have to remember to check on her. Also the three seconds of drider in that one trailer, holy. shit.
There are a bunch of NPCs I wanted to be able to invite to camp but especially Abdirak the priest of Loviatar: 10/10 would let him beat me up again. I would not mind the chance to beat him up and steal his slutty, slutty armor though.
I found it a bit funny that after spending the entirety of Act 1 running around looking for a way to deal with the tadpole in my head the best temporary solution turned out to be....a Ring of Mind Shielding. It's only temporary, mind you, you're character's just potentially been through so much shit to get to that point.
Wild theories! I feel like there will definitely be an ending where you become a mind flayer. The game makes a point of telling you thd tadpole is getting stronger if you use it (I avoided using apart from that mandatory time qnd and then maybe twice more?). I'm thinking divine intervention might be necessary but the Absolute cult probably knows what's going on so maybe not. I'm really looking forward to confronting Cazador with Astarion in particular.
Also Larian give the people what we want and let us fuck a dragon.

The whole jjk 216 discourse is because of the shippers and on behalf of them i am so sorry 💀 less than 24 hrs ago, i saw my moot and fellow stsg shipper bashing gege for the "incest" and telling Myamra to "stfu" when he spoke up about the harrassment he was facing. AND THEN MY JAW DROPPED THIS MORNING BC THAT SAME MOOT WAS NOW CHEERING ABOUT SUKUNA/YOROZU WHEN HE TURNED OUT TO BE A GUY 😭😭😭😭😭
Nooo don't apologize. I'm a shipper too (satosugu and itafushi 🤪) and I know the shipper community can be... wild at times, but these issues are mostly caused by those who are too immature and can't discern between reality and fiction (ie. those who believe that if you consume/create dark or problematic media then you support it irl, which is NOT true btw)
Granted, it is usually just shippers who do those, but not all the shippers are that weird (it's especially less common outside of America so at least the rest of the world's got their head on straight)
Like I said in a previous post, it's really only centered around anything remotely sexual. They'll be up in arms when it comes to a problematic ship, but they'll turn a blind eye to the other darker themes in jjk like cannibalism (sukuna and curses), forced abortion (choso's mom), attempted genocide (geto), abuse (zenin clan), systemic oppression (the entire jujutsu society), and etc. They only focus on what can and shouldn't be shipped.
Even though, by their own logic, Sukuna/Megumi x Yorozu/Tsumiki is still "incest", they switched up once Yorozu turned out to be a man and cheered for it because now they got a new gay ship to obsess over 😭???
Honestly, I think JJK just attracted the wrong audience. The first season of the manga was so sweet and happy (well, compared to what happens afterwards at least), that it probs gave ppl the wrong idea 🤭 but they continued with it anyway cuz they thought the characters were hot or whatever. That, and some people are just too immature to understand how dark stories work.
Can you imagine these sort of shippers starting this kinda discourse with a seinen like Berserk??? omg that series would be cancelled on twitter and the poor author would be getting death threats every damn day 💀💀 But that doesn't happen (or at least I hope it doesn't?) because Berserk is being read by the appropriate audience that can handle those sort of themes. Same can't be said for JJK 💀
Anyways, here's a bunch of twitter posts that basically sums it all up:
Tumblr media
It's fine to ship characters together, but people really gotta understand what kinda manga they're reading before bashing the author (or the leaker who literally just... shows us the chapter??? why were ppl so pissed at him omg 😭). There's other interesting things happening in jjk, the ships shouldn't be all they should focus on. If romance is truly all they care about, then they need to stick to a different manga cuz jjk isn't it.
Yeah it's frustrating to see people act like that, but that's why I mostly stick to jjk theorists and analysts instead of shippers when it comes to Twitter. They got some pretty insightful theories that I like and they understand that JJK is a dark story, not a romance one.
