with having to move suddenly and forcing my kid out of her school district and being stressed as fuck, and being in the middle of a move when she should have been having a birthday party, with being extra poor, with giving my kid covid, with my general patience being nil, with doing a shit job managing my own depression and anxiety lately, with so many other things I've been feeling like I've been having so many parenting failures lately.

When i heard her ask that little girl if she wanted to "be a couple" with 0 hesitation or embarrassment. I was so happy I could give her a world where she could have that. I'm really really proud that I was able to make that world for her. I feel really good about it.

And when the other little girl ran up to me all beaming and said "Mrs. (daughter)'s mom, (daughter) has a girlfriend! Guess who it is! It's me!" I worry for these kids, but right now it's kinda beautiful. Right now they are fearless. Imagine it. 8 year old girls totally unhesitant about asking each other out. I'm really proud of us. I'm really proud that we gave them that.

I touched base with the girl's mom when I dropped her off because I was worried for her, but the parents just kinda shrugged. I think these kids might just be ok.
