Krishna and Arjuni were used to sleeping next to each other, as best friends so far. Yet secretly love each other and yearn for each other every moment.

It was morning. Arjuni had came Dwarka to give the invitation to the Rajsuya Yajna that was going to take place in the kingdom of Indraprastha, that belonged to her Jyesth Bhrata Yudhishthir.

She had given the invitation. Balaram, the Mahamahim of Dwarka had offered her to stay for a few days, and as Arjuni had no other work she had agreed.

She looked for her Sakha/best friend, Madhav, throughout the whole palace, but just couldn't find him. Then she heard the breaking of mud pots from the Royal kitchen. Arjuni peeped in to see what was going on and went inside when she couldn't get a clear view.

Krishna, who was stealing and eating butter, got alert when he heard footsteps. He turned to see who it was, and relaxed to see that it was his Sakhi/best friend, Parthavi who had came in.

Arjuni never knew what a turn on butter could be, until today when she saw Madhav with a butter-smeared mouth. "Madhav, won't you share with me?" Krishna grinned cheekily and offered a handful generously. "Sure."

Arjuni took hold of Krishna's hand, and licked of the bits of butter off his hand, licking slowly and delicately. Krishna's breaths got heavy as his neck, cheeks and ears flushed.

After finishing, Arjuni muttered an excuse and fled.

That night, Arjuni had to share a room with Krishna. They both were laying down, her back facing towards him.

Arjuni couldn't breathe steadily with Madhav beside her. She wanted to do things to him that best friends should not even think of. How disgusted would Madhav be if he knew?

But Krishna had read his Sakhi's mind already. As his Parthavi worried, he draped his hand on her waist. "Overthinking as usual...Parthavi?"

"No..just-..."

Arjuni couldn't continue talking because Krishna's hand snaked up from her waist, till her chest, neck, and lips, tracing them slightly.

Arjuni's breathe hitched when she felt his hand on her lips. There were tears in her eyes. She didn't know why. She rolled over, his hand still on her lips.

"I love you.." she whispered.

"I love you too." He said immediately.

"I-in that way..?"

"In every way."

Arjuni put her hand to the back of Krishna's neck and pulled him close.

Their desperately waiting starving mouths had met that night, as did their bodies and soul.

It was everything they had ever wanted.

Parthavi was all he had ever wanted.

Madhav was all she had ever wanted.

actually. that post about how its important to have weird kinky queer friends. i think the same is true of really every type of ostracized person but in particular i wanna point it out wrt mentally ill people.

if you watch a movie villainizing DID or schizophrenia or something, and you think, "hey, this seems sort of like its based on what my friend has and theyre just a chill person, why are they making my friends condition seem threatening?" thats good.

if you see someone use narcissist as a synonym for abuser and you think, "what, no, im friends with someone who has NPD and i know theyre a kind person, this isnt true at all," thats good.

if you hear politicians try to frame addicts as violent criminals who should be locked up and you think "no, my buddy sam is just sick, their withdrawals are really painful and they dont have a good support system, they shouldnt be locked up for that," thats good.

being able to counter ableist rhetoric with "i know from experience thats not how these people are" is a good thing. like yeah obviously dont make friends with mentally ill people just for brownie points but also try to make the conscious effort to be open to friendship with people who have stigmatized mental health issues. and maybe even more importantly, be someone who makes it clear to others that youre safe to be open about these things with, because chances are youre ALREADY friends with mentally ill people even if you dont realize it, because a lot of us with more demonized conditions try to hide those conditions out of fear, and it helps a lot to know our friends are allies - and then we might feel safe discussing our experiences, IF we want to, and in turn that can help you better understand the realities and diversities of our situations and be less susceptible to ableist rhetoric.

part of my job as archivist for a LGBTQ center involves working with an interviewing elder queers, and the disconnect between our generation and theirs is so upsettingly palpable. so many young queers think that elders aren't up-to-date on identity politics and are "set in their ways" when it comes to understanding the nuances of gender and sexuality, but that is so incredibly far from the truth.

if anything, the real problem is in the reverse. young queers aren't giving the time of day to our elders and its only alienating all of us from our shared history. just about every elder I've spoken to is doing their best to understand how our identity politics have evolved and is actively supportive of our generation adding our language and experiences to our sprawling rainbow tapestry.

there is also this strange idea that elder queers no longer contribute to that tapestry, that their time is gone and its only the youth making progress. but again, that prevailing idea is just alienating our generations from one another. most elders I've spoken to are extremely active in the community and work hard to do what they can to preserve our histories and assist in current activism.

the fact of the matter is that we are losing our elders, both to time and estrangement, and it is critical that we make conscious efforts to bridge the gap before its too late.

TLDR: We have to do better when it comes to including queer elders in our current activism. They are our history, they are our family, and we need to give them the same love they give to us.
