a few months ago I binged If You Give a Bat a Burger by @noir-renard.

first of all? top 10 banger fics of all time I am not kidding. look at me. look at me? look at me. not kidding.

anyway I couldn't NOT experiment with a (starter?) Cardinal outfit. took a bit of inspiration from other versions I've seen, a bit from redesigns I've fiddled on Danny before, and just today threw a vest on top because I've recently become convinced that what the Phantom design actually needs is a sick white leather jacket coming soon patent pending (not really on the patent, yes really on the imma draw this thing. look i scribbled it the other night

mask design credit goes to @noir-renard as usual, though I took some liberties on modifying the look to make it resemble the face of a Northern Cardinal >_< (also called redbird or just cardinal)

So in short, Danny's look is the mixture of these two:

(left: northern cardinal. right: yellow-billed cardinal, according to the author, this is what he'd look like with the Penguin Goon Suit & red-themed gear!)

I've been rooting through my Procreate files and find more Danny doodles! So I'm finally reading If You Give A Bat a Burger and it reminded me of another fic and I can't tell if was a crossover or not...

Danny (or maybe Tim?) goes to the Iceberg Lounge to steal something from Cobblepot, knocks out a waiter, steals their uniform, and manages to escape but gets noticed and, funnily enough, is told to take the trash out as he leaves. He does so, and later, Batman (and possibly a Robin?) finds him in a dumpster, where the stolen thing was hidden, and he makes some BS story about looking for a ring that belonged to his father.

Think it might've been Tim as Stray or Red X, but my brain keeps saying Danny...

Update!!!!!!!! It's definitely Tim. @proshipper-on-ship found it for me!!! Aren't they awesome???

It's Take It Back Now Y'all by TimTheToaster (tabletoptime), which, for the record, is one of my all-time favorite time travel fics. (Which also goes to show how shitty my memory is. The second I looked at the title, I knew it was the fic, but remembering the scene in detail didn't clue me in to where I knew it from.)
