How to Train Your Dragon AU
( excluding rescue Riders and Nine Realms🤢)
Hello welcome back to my Rambles time to talk your ear off now .
Hi I am obsessed with dragons and we should talk about my favorite Dragon series.
Some parts are heavily based on the first movie LOL
Y'all I'm still upset I made memes for this post but tumblr won't let me add them 😭
Story:
The story takes place in Another Universe that isn't the normal How to Train Your Dragon timeline, so you will see some differences.
The twins grew up in a mostly seafaring Village however the waves around their Islands were violence and biking lives were threatened every time they set out to sea. At the time dragons were still considered a threat and the Vikings natural enemy...
Their mother was a born Warrior, and their village praised her for her many stories of heroic rescues and daring slaughtering of dragons.
Their father was a "simple" blacksmith however it's handcraft was like no other with Innovative technique to make not only better and lighter more durable weapons but he occasionally traveled into can crafting and construction.
( he gave his wife a sword that took him years to find materials for and forge for a wedding gift)
Like all Vikings during that time the tradition was when a child reaches a certain age, as a coming-of-age ceremony they must slay their first dragon, their mother's first dragon was a Skrill, the village had pretty high expectations for her kin.
Ingo was always the nicer one his mother still loved her boys deeply but was worried that ingo wouldn't survive, of course her boy did know how to defend himself he always protected his brother and himself when they were little, but if that time came where it was a Do or Die situation she's afraid that her son wouldn't make that decision.
When Ingo just so happened to overhear a conversation of his mother explaining her worries too her husband. He packed his stuff and set out for the Wilderness .
Ingo story follows similar to hiccup trying to kill his Dragon before eventually becoming friends with it
constantly sneaking it into the village while the rest of the village worried and fretted over one of the Chiefs Children. No one took and goes disappearance harder than Emmet. Refusing to take place into the ceremony until he finds his brother.
Ingo slips up and leaves one too many tracks behind causing Emmet to be hot on his tail
( Ingo has been gone for a well over a couple years, thinking about whether or not to come back home with knowing that dragons weren't demonic beasts like everyone else thought they were he still misses his family and he constantly visits in disguise but he doesn't think he could come back knowing the truth about dragons)
Emmet eventually finds him and they have a moment. Emmet tries to go for a kill thinking that the dragon was endangering his brother but gets knocked by the dragon while Ingo attempts to hold his brother back.
(At this point both of the Chief's sons are missing and she's in agony lol.)
Emmet is pissed not only because ingo love his entire Village and family behind for years also because he's tied to a chair made of rock.
Ingo Tries desperately to convince his brother to not tell anyone about him and being with a dragon.
To trust him and he will show him what dragons actually are like...
Despite everything... Emmet agreed( not before saying that his brother lost his mind.)
Ingo unties Emmet and watches him leave
Emmet keeping his promise return to the Village without mention anything. Still making an effort to visit his brother weekly.
Emmet slowly starts warming up to dragons but is not sure if he should have his own yet...
Emmet wasn't the only one searching for his sibling, a dragon flew trying to attack the humans thinking that it took their sibling hostage. Before Emmet could react and goes Dragon leaped in and put their body in between their rider and the dragon.
The other Dragon snarls but trusts its sibling; it is still wary of humans, keeping its distance.
Emmet eventually tames this dragon tensions between humans are dragons are still there but they are no longer at War
( they probably fight some large Dragon queen or something LOL haha)
Since the waves make traveling by boat tough ingo and Emmet start a system where they bring passengers from one island or one part of the island to another.
Occasionally dabbling in Dragon Racing
Now to give the boys their dragons
Emmet
At first and it's dragon would be extremely protective to the point of almost being aggressive Firepower is its only source of Defense. However, it has melted out now, probably because it has been baby
Don't take this lizard for granted this dragon is extremely smart and will gain the upper hand.
The dragon uses its powerful blasts and skills.
Emmet is a very competitive person and needs a dragon to match
I can see them having a hookjwng and anot loud relationship, butting heads a lot but having mutual respect to being very close.
Nightfury
Also Possible picks: Monstrous Nightmare, Skrill
Ingo
Ingo's Dragon would be skittish but slowly opening up and at first, using their surroundings to their advantage other than pure firepower.
It uses Firepower at its last resort.
However over time Ingos Dragon will be more socialized even being more playful even a little reckless.
Like his Dragon ingo will use the environment to his advantage or any Gadget he has in his hands
When Ingo is making things his Dragon helps by providing fire and grabbing tools you requests
Light fury
Also possible picks: Deadly Nadder, Changewing

I never get to post about this AU so this prompt had me PUMPED!!! This is Emmet from my Stelleret AU, where he made a deal with a star weaving, soul eating, spider Ultra Beast in order to find Ingo. He gave up his physical body for Stelleret's interdimensional/time travelling powers on the condition that he would continue to feed it. So they fused and now Emmet's a weird monster thing trying to manage the hunger of the other soul in the vessel and also find Ingo, wherever he is. There's more but I don't want to bore the audience rn ^^* if I have time I might post doodles/sketches, since this is one of my favourite AUs I've written but also very tedious and longwinded to explain. Anyways, hope you guys like the art and have a good day!

ROUND 2, MATCH 33
NO MAGIC, POWERS, WEAPONS, OR ADDITIONAL HELP FROM OTHERS
Tumblr media
Volo:
“Peopel want to think he’s buff as if he isn’t a fucking twig look at his model”
“He loses to the player character in a pokemon fight, and player character is like 15 years old - and this is with him getting 8 pokemon when you include Giratina stage 1 and 2. If you took away the pokemon and made him fight with his fists he would still probably lose because he has wet cat energy. Talks big game but can't always follow through with the threat type vibes.”
“He could stab everyone with his hair”
Jonathan Sims:
“It would be really funny if he and Jonah Magnus both got in so John could literally strange his boss to death. That would be so much fun. He should lose to everyone else tho bc he is doomed by the narrative to always take the L”
“Listen. Listen this is a fistfight, im not sure if his all knowing fear god bullshit powers will work here. If he can’t smite people. If he can’t Know things about them and scare them to death. If it’s just a fistfight of pure ability. He is going to get beat up so badly but I think he’ll live. Jon’s sturdy. He had a rib taken out. Was kidnapped and forcibly moisturised by an evil ringmaster puppet. He is… the fandom interpretation is that he’s skinny. Thin. His boyfriend is the strong one. Jonathan Sims would probably lose in a fistfight -he’s Just A Guy without the antichrist shit- but it would be so fucking funny. He might win. He might lose. It’s 2:18 AM here and I cannot sleep.”
“He has an endless supply of disdain and is so willing to use it Especially if there's Martin He HATES Martin Martin can do no good Let me tell you, that Martin... Wait, where'd you go?”

It would be so funny if the player could still send texts on their arc phone and decided to send every complaint directly to Arceus
Everything from "Those ungrateful bastards banished me" to "My tummy hurts :("
Bonus points if they hand the phone over to Volo or Ingo and let them rant at god for screwing them over
Tbh if it were me I would let Arceus know every single inconvenience I had with being thrown into the past with no warning.
You let Arceus know no peace, making it very clear of your feelings on the matter.
[There is a leak in my room. You know what didn't have a leak? My old home.]
[They deadass are sending me into the wild??? On my own?? Assuming I have no experience?? They want me dead, Arceus.]
[THEY DONT HAVE COFFEE]
[Why do I have to fight the big scary pokemon?? WHY IS IT A STRANGERS JOB-]
[I think Cynthia's ancestor is stalking me.]
[I REACHED TEN STARS FUCK YEAH]
[WHY do I have to solve this village's problems. How am I the only one doing anything to help here.]
[WHY IS THE TRAIN GUY FROM UNOVA HERE.]
[ANSWER ME ARCEUS.]
[ISNT THIS GUY A CELEBRITY???? ARCEUS. HOW LONG HAS HE BEEN HERE-]
[When i invent mac n cheese, its over for these assholes.]
[Do you think I could piss Cyrus off by adopting his great great grandmother as my own mom?]
[They fucking banned me, Arceus.]
[AFTER EVERYTHING I DID-]
[Volo is def stalking me btw. WHY is he the only one wanting to help me besides the nice lady who also looks like Cynthia-]
[THE SKY IS RED.]
[Did Kamado seriously send Beni to assassinate me or did I just hallucinate that whole encounter.]
[WHY IS IT I KEEPING MEETING PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DELETE THE UNIVERSE WITH GIRATINA]
[If i had a dollar for every time this has happened, i'd have two dollars. It isn't a lot, but its weird its happened twice-]
[HOW COME HE GETS LIKE THE EQUIVALENT OF 8 POKEMON AND I CANT]
[If you had just said hi to him we could have avoided me almost dying TWICE.]
Arceus almost never responds unless you have a genuine question, or need help. But you do find solace in complaining to it.
You later tell Volo that hey, like, you know things are kinda awkward, but you have a means of directly messaging Pokemon God-
He's shaking as you hand him the phone and show him how to use it. At first, Volo for once, doesn't know what to say. He had dreamt of unloading his problems onto Arceus many times, but now?
He is almost at a lost for words.
That is, until you reach around him, showing him your previous conversations.
"Yeah, see here? I kinda bitched at Arceus last week because I'm still not allowed to go home yet. I kinda just use the chat to vent about things most of the time."
Volo stares for a moment, until he's furiously typing. He doesn't stop typing for a good few minutes, sending one very long, winded message, before handing the phone back to you. It's the longest message you have ever seen sent on your phone
The merchant is awfully quiet after that for a little while.

Of Wishes and the Sun
cw: Volo is being a homewrecker and manipulative, long, established relationship with Cyrus, a little angsty at points, endings are WIP,
pairings: Cyrus/Reader, Volo/Reader
summary: You meet a strange man who claims that you look like someone he knows. His words strike too close to home after a conversation. Madness follows this meeting.
~
You felt lost in thought as you entered the temporary Galactic hideout on Pasio. That was a strange fellow that you had encountered… A claim that you looked like someone he knew remained in your mind. His words were spoken with confidence and clear knowledge. It was almost a bit too loud, as well, but he was certainly a character. The way his hand rested a hand on your shoulder and the expression in his eyes when he thought that you were not looking simply baffled you. You almost swore that he seemed infatuated.
But, what had stricken you to your core was his words…
“And what tickled my curiosity more strongly than anything were the mysteries to be found in legends, in history, in ruins. You see, I fancied that by unravelling these mysteries, I could find out how the world itself came to be… and with that knowledge, maybe even forge a new, better world!”
He smiled when he said those words, but when paired with his mentions of facing things unfair or painful. You felt a strange sense of familiarity with the language in your heart. Not one paired with a smile. One paired with adoring people in uniforms watching a single man give an emboldened speech.
“Because we are all so lacking, we fight, we maim… It is ugly. I hate the incompleteness. That we are all incomplete, I hate it with my entire body and being. The world should be complete. The world must change.”
You entered the deepest part of the hideout to see a familiar face. The blue-haired man typed away on his computer with little thought, likely thinking of ways to either accomplish his original goals or alternatives that would give the same result. Completeness. What did that even mean? You had tried to understand his ramblings many times, but you failed to grasp the concept entirely. Your understanding was his hatred of pain and dislike of aggression. He wanted to create a world where such things could not exist, but his blame laid solely upon spirit. Emotions were the issue to him. That blond man's scapegoat had yet to be understood by you.
Cyrus gazed up when you came to stand by his side. His expression clearly spoke the words he would have said. “… Can we talk?” You managed to get out finally. Nervousness had suddenly consumed your mind at the thought of telling him about that merchant. You needed to, however. Something in your mind told you that it was far from the last time you would see him. Cyrus wordlessly closed out of whatever he had been doing and nodded. You let out a shaky breath. Where to start with this?
You unconsciously reached out to grab one of his hands and squeeze it in your own. It was warm. Soft. Alive. “… A guy said I looked like someone he knew and then started a long conversation with me today,” you began, trying to think of how to lead into his words. The Galactic Boss's hand tightened its grip on your own. His expression shifted slightly.
“Are you attempting to make me 'jealous'?” he questioned, clearly unsure as to why you were telling him this. You shook your head. No, and that felt almost impossible at the best of times. Clearing your head, you debated how best to explain the odd feeling that the man had given you to Cyrus. There was a genuine worry in your mind that he may simply dismiss them as nothing more than pointless conjecture.
“No, nothing like that,” you pulled your hand away from his and took in a breath, “He just said something that made me think of you…” His expression shifted from the usual sternness it held. Perhaps he would be more inclined to hear you out now. “Something he said… Learning through history to create a new world…” You mumbled as you struggled to recall his exact wording. The rambling conversation felt mildly out of place. A heavy familiarity came from him. It was as if he knew you, despite it seeming impossible. The only person you thought even partially came to mind when you considered his appearance was Cynthia.
“… Did he, now?” Cyrus's gaze met your own with an oddly harsh look, “And he approached you specifically, stating that you were familiar?” A nod was your reply to the question. Something sceptical came across his face as his eyes closed. “He could be attempting to gain Palkia for his goals then, should that be his intention…” his hand fell onto a Master Ball on his desk. “You are likely somehow a part of his plan, whatever that may be. Please be on more alert.” His eyes closed. You wanted to be upset by his accusation, but that did seem logical. A plan to make a new world… That was also Cyrus's own, was it not? Who better to understand that mentality than him?
Though… You still were not convinced that was it. Something about Volo was different from Cyrus. Besides, why would he tell you about his plans when you so easily could tell people? No… You doubted that his intentions included taking Palkia. Swallowing, you felt something twist in your stomach. All of this felt much larger than you. It was almost the exact same feeling as when you had learnt of Cyrus's plans. Your hand clenched. There was not a chance that you were going to let that happen again.
“… Are you still focusing on completing spirit?” you decided to check something before you fully dedicated yourself to it. He nodded before finally returning to whatever he had been doing before you came in. You gave a quiet parting and headed back out of the hideout.
For a moment, you swore Cyrus seemed to wear a concerned gaze.
~
It had been harder to encounter Volo than you had originally thought. Pasio was large. Forests, mountains, deserts, caves — You swore that you had wandered through nearly every sight the island had to offer before you finally ended up in the ruins after a few days of fruitless searching. Sitting down on some debris, you began to debate why you were doing all this. It was a one-off comment by a complete stranger. Why did it make you more stressed than when your boyfriend had done the same thing and kept it from you? Maybe it was because Cyrus said things that simply did not align with your memories. His inability to recall the Distortion World was the oddest of them all. It had been the last place you had seen him until recently, after all.
It almost seemed as if he came from right before his actions on Spear Pillar. Hoopa did pull people from all over, but none of them had stricken you as stranger than him. Still, he recognised you. His words to you were the same as they had always been, while he clearly knew you as a lover. It hurt sometimes. The pain you felt after he refused to leave that impossible dimension. How he tossed away everything for a horrible solution to his problems. You sniffled a bit as tears burned your eyes. There was not a chance that you would allow something similar to happen again.
“My, don't you look glum?” a familiar voice called out to you, disrupting your train of thoughts. Volo appeared to have come right out of nowhere as he stood before you. A small, friendly smile was on his face. “Did something happen? Relationship troubles?” His questions were much too accurate. Not exactly troubles in the fighting sense, but something more complicated. Something that you were not entirely sure that you were ready to confront. You shook your head. It seemed that he remembered your reply about being in a relationship from your first meeting, however.
“… I was thinking about some things,” you simply told him, “I was looking for you, actually.” The blond appeared to perk up at your words. His smile grew wider, and his eyes closed. Seeing him again, his odd similarities to Cynthia only appeared more obvious. Was he a relative? It did not seem out of the realm of possibility. You offered a seat on the pillar under you. His heavy backpack was slipped off his shoulders as he joined you.
“Me?” he asked, “Ah, did you need to buy something?” You shook your head. There were more than enough stores on Pasio if you truly desired anything. “Then, how may I be at your service?” His grey eye met yours carefully. Something seemed to be brewing behind them. You wished that you could have a peek into his mind.
“… What did you mean by a new world?” pleasantries could be skipped, as you needed answers to calm your distraught mind. Volo was taken aback by your bold question. He blinked once or twice as he clearly debated it in his own head. You wondered if he was going to answer your question, truly.
“I meant a new world that is better than this one,” he replied, voice lower than before — quieter in volume. Your stomach twisted at his words. “… You seem distressed. Why is that?” His hand came to rest on his chin. You bit your tongue. How did you respond to that? A new, better world… Cyrus thought he was doing the same, but even Saturn was disillusioned with Cyrus's plans after learning what this supposed world would entail. You feared what Volo's ideals would be. Could it truly be any worse than a world without spirit?
“How would it be better?” you replied slowly, afraid to make him run off. Volo hummed to himself. His smile felt different when it spread across his face.
“Before I answer,” his hand grasped your shoulder firmly, “May I ask for why you seem so intrigued?” You froze. Replying truthfully to that would certainly make him leave. There was no way he would stay if you stated your intentions to sway him from that path. You averted your gaze to the dirt. Volo took note. “… You truly did not change,” his hand suddenly cupped your face as he seemed to force your attention back onto him, “Do you want the truth about your lover?”
You froze. He gave a chuckle. How could he have possibly known that? You had not mentioned anything about Cyrus to him outside of claiming to be in a relationship. His name had not even been said in that conversation, yet… His confidence in his words was undeniable. “… You suspect the truth already, do you not? That he is not the same man you loved.” You moved away from him in a panic. Shaking your head, you attempted to deny his words. That was impossible. Cyrus's oddities had to hold some other reason. Maybe he hit his in the Distortion World before Hoopa pulled him here, and that was why he was missing a gap in his memories.
“Ah, see?” Volo's tone became sympathetic, “This world is cruel.”
“You… You can't be sure!” you tried to argue back, terrified at how much sense his explanation made. Cyrus truly did seem frozen right as he summoned the legendary pokemon of Sinnoh... But, you wanted so desperately to believe that it was something else. You loved him all the same. It had to be him. Volo's expression became something soft.
“I am certain,” he sighed, “I would not lie to you. That 'Hoopa' has pulled quite a few people here from other worlds. It is simply unfortunate that Cyrus was one of them.” You felt completely tormented. Volo had so easily pressed your buttons. “… If it is any comfort, I am not of the time period, myself,” he offered. You took another look at him. Well, that should have been more obvious to you. Especially when he tried to offer you a pokeball made of an apricorn. “Will you be alright?”
You nodded as you forced your racing thoughts down. Okay. Fine. The Cyrus here on Pasio was not the same one as the one that you knew. But, it seemed that everyone else, including his own commanders, had accepted him just the same. He had never rejected you, either. Even if he was aware that he was in an alternate world, it seemed that his feelings for you remained no matter what. You could accept that. If anything, seeing how this one could have his perspective shifted from his decision to make a new world to completing spirit reinvigorated you. Your Cyrus could still be saved. You believed that truly.
“What time period are you from then?” you decided to ask. Anything to steer the topic away from something so sensitive. Volo thought on it for a moment.
“The… industrial period, I suppose, is what you modernly call it,” he responded, “Well, industrialisation had barely come to Hisui, but it was happening elsewhere.” You blinked. Hisui? That was… before it had even been given its modern name of Sinnoh. It was a bit startling how well he was able to conceal something like that. Suddenly, it was more obvious that Volo was capable of keeping many things close to his chest. Cyrus's warning to be more on alert likely should have been heeded. You decided to keep going, however.
After all, Volo seemed more than happy to answer any questions related to his time period.
~
The trek back to the hideout after your second conversation with Volo felt much less urgent. You had learnt many common historical information. Well, at least in relation to the Galaxy Team. The emblem for the organisation had been a bit startling, but you did recall that Cyrus's family had connections leading back to the original founding of Jubilife. Everything else about the Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan was interesting, but not exactly the most relevant. When asking about where Volo himself originated from, he simply said that he had always been in Hisui. You debated asking Cynthia about her family's origin the next time you saw her.
The mood was oddly tense as you entered the Galactic hideout. Grunts seemed to try to avoid you while Mars shot you a glare when you had passed her. It was far too easy to just assume that something had happened with an experiment and move along to Cyrus's office area. The boss himself was waiting for you as you opened the door. His arms here crossed, and he glared harshly. You shut the door.
“Where have you been?” he questioned with a serious tone. You were taken aback for a moment, not used to this sort of behaviour from Cyrus. Especially in relation to where you had gone out to. Usually, he preferred if you left since he often said that you distracted him unintentionally.
“I was exploring Pasio,” you replied, “I wanted to see more of the island.” His remarks about it being astonishing that the region was man-made… You hoped that it would sway whatever bad mood he was into something more manageable. Truthfully, you were not too attuned to handling his anger, but rather, his sadness. He seemed unmoved, however.
“I am aware that you were,” he replied, “… But for what reason? I asked you to be more careful.” Annoyance pounded at your brain. Why was he suddenly pretending to be so worried about you when he had rarely cared previously? “… You met with that man again,” he suddenly said, “I had a grunt trail you as a precautionary measure. The idea of you being used against me was one I would rather not face.”
First, offence ate at your heart that he had someone following you around Pasio, but you supposed it was not that irrational if he thought you were actually in danger. Though, you much would have preferred that he simply speak with you normally, but Cyrus was himself even if it was not your Cyrus. You sighed. Should you really even bother with any of this? The man you loved was still away in that far-off dimension and clearly did not care enough about you to return. The one in front of you would probably do the same thing eventually. What was the point of all this? It all felt useless. Completely useless.
“… Would you really care that much?” the words left you with little thought about the effect they might have. Cyrus tensed up. His eyes narrowed on you. “You are not the Cyrus of this world. You know that, right?” He went quiet and still. Tension was almost palpable in the air as you two sat in a wordless staring contest, wondering who would break it first. He seemed genuinely frozen by your words.
Cyrus walked around the desk to sit down in his chair. His elbows rested on the metallic surface as he seemed to let out something inside him. “Correct,” eventually, he broke the silence, “I am not. I was forced here by that Hoopa pokemon for some unknown reason.” You felt mortified that he had been aware this whole time. Something inside you wanted to curl up and die. Why had he not said anything prior? You felt hurt that it took an outsider to you both finally to force this conversation. Silence permeated again as you debated what to say. Words felt pointless at this point.
You sat in one of the chairs in the room and found yourself lost in thought. Your relationship with Cyrus was deeply important to you. There was not anything that you would not have done to get him back. Yet, when you finally did, it was not exactly him. When you left Pasio, he would likely not follow. It was a matter of how long until he was returned back to the world that he was pulled from. Placing your face in your hands, you could only debate the situation more and more. It felt like a cruel and twisted form of torture.
“… Beloved,” the endearment felt strange to hear after having gone so long without it, “I may not be the Cyrus of this world, but I do genuinely care for you.” He had moved over to you while you were lost in your own head. A hand moved to brush a few stray strands of hair out of your face. “This Volo... I have struggled to find information on him. The only remarkable thing about his is his resemblance to the Sinnohan champion…” his thumb stroked your cheek, “His intentions are unknown. Please, be careful.”
You nodded. His words… You desperately wanted to find comfort in them, but it felt as if you only would have him for so long. The idea of losing him for a second time felt like you had been burned by a Houndoom.
~
The following days were a mess.
Time moved slowly and quickly. Nothing seemed to make sense. Cyrus went back to his work but was making a noticeable effort to spend more time with you. It was nice; something that you had wanted, but… You felt terrified to get too close to him again. So, you took to trying to find a certain champion and speak to about your feelings. She had, after all, been there for you after everything. It was her kindness that gave you some small comfort in this mad world. The task should have been easy, yet it somehow proved impossible. With so many trainers around, you expected to hear something about her location. There had been nothing.
You sat at a café's veranda while thinking more. No one else was bothered by Cyrus being of an alternate world. Cynthia had been trying to aid him as if he were the one of your world all the same. Dawn and Lucas followed behind just the same. The Galactic commanders were unbothered, too. Why could you not be the same? He loved you. The words would rarely leave his mouth, but his ability to tolerate you being around during his vulnerable states remained all the same. But… Losing him. It would happen eventually. Lear would order the legendary to return those displaced, certainly. You hated the idea of that time coming.
The sound of a chair being pulled back took you out of your thoughts. A familiar face had taken a seat across from you. It was not the blonde that you had been looking for, certainly. Volo smiled at you playfully. His Togepi was out, too, sitting in his lap happily. Her gentle expression almost soothed your stressed mind. You sighed. Where had he come from this time?
“Stressed again?” he asked, “Let me help you! Togepi is great at calming people.” For some reason, you felt that there was more than just that to his actions. Still, you did feel a bit better. Apparently, the pokedex entries about it having a calming effect were true.
“So… If you're from the past,” you decided to ask something, “And you claimed that I looked like someone you knew… Was that my ancestor?” It made the most logical sense, you supposed. Who really knew? It could have been a completely disconnected person who just so happened to look like you. Volo shook his head.
“Ah… Not at all,” he explained with no details. It was frustrating. Had he used that simply as an opener to speak with you? Volo did not appear to be the flirty type, so you felt unsure. The words almost felt purposeful. Those two clan leaders had mistaken the Galactic commanders for people of the past, too, but you felt more inclined to believe that they had been ancestors. Volo himself was likely Cynthia's own… Which was an odd thought. Though, in the case he was… Perhaps he could help you with your complicated feelings.
“Hey, Volo,” you called out to him. His attention shifted entirely onto you from the nearby walking street. Passers-by were all over. Pasio was truly full of people. “… Can I ask you about something?” His expression was nothing but genuine cheerfulness. You did feel a bit more at ease. Any concerns that you might have had otherwise about the blond seemed to vanish. “I… I don't know how to feel about Cyrus any more,” you plainly spoke, “He's not the one I knew… And I'm scared that I'll lose him again at any point.”
“Ah…” Volo appeared to think on it for a moment, grabbing his chin. It was quite an odd thing to say to someone who was still an acquaintance at best and concerning at worst. “Well, that is a very real concern, I think,” he nodded, “What do you want to do about it?” That question was the exact one you did not want to face. Your heart raced. What did you want to do? Leave Cyrus? What options were there? Your mood shift was noticeable to Volo, who reached a hand out to hold your own resting on the table. His hand was much larger than your own and covered with callouses. “… You must truly care for him.” There was something lurking just beneath those words that you just missed in your distress.
You nodded. Volo's hand tightened around your own. It brought you back to reality. “Why not spend awhile away from him? It might allow you to make your decision easier,” he offered. You felt a bit uncertain of doing that. Sure, you had your own hotel room on Pasio from when you had originally come here, but you had been staying in the Galactic hideout with Cyrus for a while. Your eyes went to his hand. But… You definitely needed to clear your head.
“Maybe, I'll give that a try,” you replied, “Thank you for listening, Volo.”
He only smiled again.
~
The smell of the ocean was both a nostalgic and haunting scent to the blue-haired man. Waves lapped against the artificial shores of Pasio. He stood watching them. Everything had been oddly chaotic in his personal life lately. Did it truly matter that his origin was not in this world? You had apparently thought so. It was beyond his understanding. Even if he could acknowledge that you were not the same version of yourself from his world, you were clearly still something similar enough. When or if he would even be able to return to his own was impossible to ascertain. Besides, his bond with you was more than enough.
Even during the events with Darkrai, his foolish feelings led to him keeping you by his side. An isolated world of darkness with you in his arms simply felt close enough to his idea of perfection that he was happy to remain like that. Your sudden avoidance of him had brought out more unwanted feelings. Had he upset you in some way? Nothing came to his mind when he forced himself to consider his actions. You had come suddenly a few days ago and packed your things. The only words you had said to him were something about needing a break. He attempted to speak, but you had gone before the chance had been given.
A sigh left him as he took a step closer to the ocean. The port city he had grown up in… How many times had he stood on a beach like this? It was difficult to recall alongside many things during that period of his life. His hand clenched. He would speak to you soon. It was desperately needed. Things simply could not carry on as they were. Working had become impossible as the days grew larger in number.
“Oh? You seem lost in thought,” a voice called out to him. He turned his head to see a blond man with a familiar style to someone else that he knew. Cyrus stiffened. This appeared to be the 'Volo' that he had heard so much about. Someone who shared his intentions of making a new world. Could he have finally come to try to claim Palkia as he had expected. His hand went for Darkrai's pokeball, fully aware that he should not take this strange man lightly. “… I was going to say that you looked lonely,” his tone turned to something mocking.
“And?” Cyrus replied, voice suppressing whatever feelings wish to reveal themselves, “Is that truly any of your business?” There was little interest in dealing with him for any longer than necessary. He had only stepped out to get some fresh air and clear his mind. It was now having the complete opposite effect on him.
“They are quite lovely, are they not?” Volo suddenly said, gazing out at the moon, “You certainly left them in a state, though. How cruel of you.” Cyrus's eyes grew wide. “They were effortless to win over to me,” his hands readjusted the heavy pack on his back, “Just as they are now, too. They will be perfect at my side in a perfect world.”
Stepping away from him, Cyrus felt his stomach twist. What had this man done? Did he cause you to end up in the state that you were? He swallowed. Something told him that engaging him here would end badly. Turning his head, he let out a shaky breath. The beach was abandoned as he began his walk back to the hideout. A message was quickly sent to Saturn to order grunts to keep an eye on the blond. Cyrus felt as if he had a true rival for once in his life.
~
Volo stood on the beach in silence. Cyrus… Well, he certainly had his ancestor's expression down. The Captain of the Survey Corps would surely be happy to see her bloodline was going well. The waves washed around his boots as he stared at the night sky in wonder. So much could change in the world, yet the sky remained exactly the same. He felt oddly smug. How easy it was to place a wedge in what was an otherwise normal relationship. The merchant usually would not bother interfering in such a way.
But… It was you. Well, a version of yourself that had yet to end up in Hisui, but you nonetheless. You were so easy to approach. Volo had been genuinely surprised when you had mentioned a boyfriend, however. In Hisui, you had said he simply had abandoned you, yet here he was on Pasio. A different version of himself. Just like you were a different version of the you that he knew. But, in the end, you were still the same. He had lost you in Hisui after you learnt of his goals and what happened with Rei. Here, however, you had no clue of anything. It was so easy to just speak with you. When you asked about his time period, it delighted him to explain it to you.
It felt far too easy to use the certainty and fear related to the apparent temporary nature of Pasio to cause conflict with you and Cyrus. You had listened to him, too. Volo wanted to sigh. Soon, he would force Arceus out and subjugate it. Then, you both could be together in his new world. Just as you should be.
Volo felt disgusted at the thought of Cyrus holding you as he did. The more intimate the mental images became; the more upset Volo grew. He truly loved you. That was why he had helped you in Hisui. You had been just like him. Rejected by all the groups around the region. All alone and left to the mercy of nature. How could he not want to show you kindness and help you? Your company made things more pleasant as he investigated ruins and artefacts.
Why had you been so upset when he explained his plans to you? That question had haunted him ever since you had run from in Hisui. Now, of course, he understood. Cyrus. He had attempted something similar, yet more foolishly. Only using Dialga and Palkia to remake the world… Arceus simply would not allow that. Volo knew better.
He turned away from the beach.
Well, it was time to go see you again.

✂  𝔹𝔸𝔹𝔼𝕋𝕋𝔼 / 𝔸ℙℙℝ𝕆𝕍𝔸𝕃    a way too long post with useless information
Babette likes being in other's good books, and appreciates when the player offers help without wanting something in return. Despite rather approving of safe decisions, she is inspired by acts of charity and heroism in general. The player does not have to be completely "good" to gain her approval. Avoiding conflict with decisions that leave both parties amicable (even when ultimately deceiving the opponent) will raise Babette's approval.
Babette dislikes displays of cruelty, unnecessary violence and overly judgmental behavior towards NPCs. She disapproves when the Player does not offer support and understanding for her pact. Babette shows much dependence towards the Player and will lose approval should they leave her alone with all decisions.

Depending on her approval rating, Babette may greet the player with:
Negative (-10):

Neutral and up (above -10):

When spoken to by someone other than the player character:

Baldurs gate 3 characters and their 500 playstyle
For anyone that doesn't know, 500 is a card game often played with four players set up as two pairs of partners that have to call for the trump suit before trying to win the amount of 'tricks' (rounds) they've called. My family plays it all the time so I got inspired by all the cards played over Christmas lol. I also really like this format, let me know if you guys like it too :)
The table talker
The table is never quiet with these guys around. Whether it's joking about bad hands or chatting about the last trick, it's impossible to shut them up. Whenever they're around the table it's going to be a certified chatter fest, anyone that's against table talk will be wishing their partner was anyone else
GALE, Halsin, Wyll, Isobel, Geraldus, CAL
The high caller
Maybe they're confident in their hand, or maybe just excited. Sometimes, they just want to end the game faster. Either way you already know that if they're sitting at the table there's going to be at least one 9 call, most probably more. It'll be a quick game either way, either ending in success or with the both of you going out the backdoor.
Dammon, Lae'zel, KARLACH, Rugan, Aylin
The off suit leader
It doesn't matter what they call or how good of a run they have, you'll almost never see them lead with one of their trumps. Whether or not it's a laughing matter depends entirely on where the tricks fall. This is one of the players you'll hardly ever see call no trumps, despite it seeming perfect for their playstyle.
Alfira, LIA, Haarlep, Oskar
The bluffer
The one person who's happy to force you into upping your no trumps call by calling diamonds, despite only having a single diamond in their hand. As their partner they can be hard to read, but watching them up calls only to realise what's actually in their hand makes for great table talk afterwards.
Minthara, ASTARION, Shadowheart, VOLO, RAPHAEL
The card counter
These guys have an uncanny memory for exactly what cards have been played and readily use it to their advantage. They're the ones that spend extra time to double check a trick that's just been played, and most likely they're also the one keeping score.
MOL, Zevlor, ROLAN, Jaheira, The Emperor, MATTIS

can i ask which pokemon dudes would like a pillow princess s/o?
Oh?
Ok
You weren't really specific but I'll choose some for you. :)
Poke men who would adore a pillow princess
smut below
Gn!reader
Emmet
This goes without saying.
Emmet wants full control he likes obedience. And he likes the fact that you'll just lay there and take everything he has to offer.
Personally he prefers the bratty types of princesses the ones who talk big, just for him to fuck them stupid later.
Trust me if he could he would take it to another level. Being in control feels nice to him
Steven Stone
My own personal headcanon. He likes it because it he thinks it's naughty.
Maybe because using you like a mere toy for an object to pour His stress into. Gets him so hot and bothered.
Steven is a giver he'll give you anything you ask him and sometimes give you stuff you don't ask him to.
Maybe it's the thrill of knowing that he can do whatever he wants to you and you will just take it ( in the realm of your comfortability of course)
Volo
Same reason as Emmet maybe even more so.
This dude power trips on having full control over you almost to the point where he shouldn't have it.
He'll really push your limit tease you until you're crying and sobbing make you beg for it in the end. Seeing tears stained on your cheeks while you cry and sob his name sets him on fire.
He'll Mark your body with his name and possession like a blank canvas.
Professor. Sycamore, Burgh, and Wallace
( grouping these guys together because I think they have the same thing going on)
"Just lay back and leave everything to me" and he means that.
He takes pleasure in giving you pleasure. His heart swells with so much love for you that he couldn't dare let you lift a finger.
A night with you is more than that it's about showing how much they love and appreciate you.
They love you and they want to take care of you.

Could we maybe possibly get a lil Drabble/HC type post of Volo’s death magic in action 👀
YESSSSS! I was thinking about doing one anyway girl! I adore that you always slide into the DMs asking for it though 😩💚
Marvolo using Necromancy magic🐍
Rowan: I erm..Found the guy you wanted me to track down..
Marvolo: Excellent..Where is he?
Rowan: In the basement...
Marvolo makes his way down there, with Rowan following closely. He walks in, seeing a decomposing corpse on the table..
Marvolo: *sigh* Oh for goodness sake...
Rowan: ...Yeah.
Marvolo: *inspecting the body* Urgh...Rotten..
Rowan: I mean, I didn't know if ya woulda wanted me to bring it here or not, but I did anyway.
Marvolo: I'm glad you did. Vile as it is. It's at least a week, maybe 2 weeks dead.. Worry not *rubs his hands together* Anything can be made to talk.
Rowan: (??)
Marvolo reaches his hand out, hovering it over the putrid corpse. He takes in a large inhale through his nose and closes his eyes. He mutters to himself, and the room suddenly feels cold and falls silent. Rowan looks around, feeling the dark effect taking over the room. Marvolos eyes snap open, glowing green, the corpse sits bolt right up on the table, taking in a harsh pained breath. Marvolo smirks to himself, his hand still aimed in concentration towards the body. The corpses' voice is the thing of nightmares, the agony in its words, you can almost hear the gargle of the congealed blood in its throat.
Corpse: P-Pleeeease. HUu-urts-
Marvolo: Shhhh, answer my questions, and you shall rest..
The Corpse tries to nod, thick slime dribbling from its mouth as its head falls forward then back up once more.
Marvolo: How did you die?
Corpse: Old gang. K-Killed meeee.
Marvolo: Why?
Corpse: Left. G-Gang. Boss couldn't. Aaargh- C-Couldn't risk me talkin' Nnngh! S-Sent g-goons..After meeeee-
Rowan: Heh..Clearly didn't expect THIS, did he?
Marvolo: I know of your boss *frowns* I've been struggling to find his fucking hideout..Tell me! Where is it!?
Corpse: N-Nooo P-Pleeeease..STooop this..Pain!
Marvolo: SPEAK.
Corpse: F-Forbidden Forest... Underground...Passage..Near..O-Old willow tree...Other side of...ARRRHH...Lake!...*coughs up dark blood* Hidden...With magic...
Marvolo: *narrows his eyes* illusion magic?
Corpse: YES!...P-Pleeeeease!!!!
Marvolo: ....Rest.
Marvolo closes his eyes once more, dropping his hand away from the corpse. The body falls flat back on the table, lifeless once more. Marvolo stumbles over to a chair in the room, slumping down onto it. He shivers slightly, letting out an exasperated breath.
Rowan: (?!) *rushes over to him* Are you ok? *goes to touch his arm*
Marvolo: DONT TOUCH ME!
Rowan: (?!?!?)
Marvolo: *sighs* I'm sorry.. That takes a lot of energy out of me..Sends my head a little messy *heavy breath as he composes himself* Especially when they fucking fight it.
Rowan: That was crazy..I've never seen ya do that..
Marvolo: Its not something I use often..Anyway..The hideout, hidden by illusion magic. That's no bother..An easy thing to seek out and remove once you know its there. We'll go later..
Rowan: *nods* Yeah.. 'Course.. I'm with ya..

Made these designs very late at night, but I figured I'd try designing the clan leaders as Sapioflores.
Adaman is based on the Japanese iris (Iris laevigata), since it's a flower that grows in water/wet soil and the Diamond Clan lives in a marsh. The ornament he wears on his face is not only a traditional accessory (for Sapioflores), it also acts as a glorified hairclip to hold his long face leaves together. He wears a tasuki if he isn't wearing his coat both so he can get more sunlight and also to hold his sleeves out of the way when working. Speaking of, similar to Ingo, he prefers thick dark clothes to retain heat/moisture (and to mimic the muddy water he spends much of his time in).
Tumblr media
Irida is based on the winter peony (Kan-botan), since it blooms in freezing cold winters like the Pearl Clan would see in the icelands. Her face ornament was originally a larger set of accessories, but the stones were removed and put together into one piece instead. The mino and hat she wears are based on the straw tents used to protect winter peonies from snow. Since it's the snow and ice bothering her rather than the temperature, she still dresses pretty light underneath. Her obi is tied to have multiple bows on either side, as a way to mimic the appearance of the actual peony (like a sort of way to say she's constantly in bloom/at her best). Her clothes are cropped at the sleeves and bottom to leave more access for light.
Tumblr media
uhhhh other design notes:
I was trying to figure out how to get Adaman's hair to be more blue because without any colour it looks like the left image and I wasn't sure how to feel about it. The current running joke with the writing team is that he drinks dyed water/dyes his hair to be prettier/cooler. Anyways dyed water looks like the right image
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cover on Irida felt like armour when I was sketching it and honestly I kinda want to see her beat someone into the ground with it on (particularly cause while I was trying to look up Kan-botan, I stumbled on Hanakotoba and peonies are supposed to represent bravery according to that)
Tumblr media
I ditched Irida's bracelets and anklet in favour of the ornament sorry. They felt a bit clunky and I couldn't figure out how to reasonably fit them on the design so for now they're just not present. If I make a proper battle outfit for her then I might bring them back as limb guards
Adaman is probably soggy a lot of the time since he'll just go chill in the water. Likely just quickly scrubs off any major clumps of silt/mud and heads out if someone calls him during swamp time
Fun fact Volo was gonna be in this design set but I'm too tired. He's likely going to be white spider lily (Lycoris albiflora) mostly because of the whole "death to the universe" plot and also cause he's allies with Giratina. He's probably not gonna be too interesting anyways so it's fine.
Hope you like the art, let me know if you have any thoughts. Have a good night and see you guys later.

Update. Too tired to be emotional, so this might sound dry.
Not dead. Despite the universe's attempts to kill me, I am decidedly not dead. My family's also doing alright. All of us are alright on food, shelter and no one's injured. I'm... we're sacred, but we're okay.
I was actually kind of amused by Volo's little excersion onto my blog. Seems people don't trust him, but neither does Mutt, so I'm not gonna say you guys are in the wrong. Only that I DO trust him.
Kamado is not content with letting sleeping dogs lie, and despite Cyllene, Akari and Laventon being opposed, their hands are tied. He has been sending Security corp after Mutt and I. And I'm... rapidly losing my patience about that. We've had to fend off three of them. A fourth would've, but... it was Pacif. The one I helped teach. He's... he delivered a message from Akari. And said that he refused to obey, leading to him being cut from the fucking corps by Kamado, going OVER Zisu's head. And she couldn't do anything.
It's made it clear that even if I wanted to rip that man in half, he's a rather integral part of how Jubilife functions. I can't do too much to him. I don't want blood on my hands, but I was more tempted than I care to admit thanks to Maddie's shared fury over the situation. The people listen to him on the whole, and even with people cutting out to defy him, he's the one in charge. He dies, the village rebels.
I have thus spoken to Mutt. We will not be returning. Ever. I do not fucking care what that man says, I do not care if he grovels on the ground, crying out for forgiveness. I will not go back. I will rip my fucking tail off if I'm made to go back. Not again. I will fucking hire people to build me a house in the Fieldlands. There's no feasible way I will ever fucking go back to that village for anything other than helping Cyllene, Laventon, Pacif or Akari.
As for... what I've been trying to do. I explained to Irida and Adaman that the change to being a Pokemon was "within the week" levels of recent, and while confused, didn't seem opposed. I was still me. Mutt was still Mutt. They would help. They've been tag-teaming assisting, with Adaman leading us to Lake Valor and Irida to Lake Acuity.
We met... I think they're Legendaries. Azelf led me on a fucking fool's errand trying to deter me, and I nearly wanted to bite its head off before it conceded. It wanted me to show my willpower. And Uxie effectively quizzed me. They wanted to make sure I knew exactly what I needed to know, which meant a hefty amount of questions about the Pokemon I claimed to know of. And I got something from them both.
Adaman is heading back to the village to keep a closer eye on Kamado. Something about his movements has us all worried. Volo's been making sure we get information by effectively trailing to the Gingko guild both for supplies and for news, and it seems Kamado's prepping. For what, I don't quite know just yet. I'm not inclined to wait to find out, so I'm on my way to Lake Verity to meet the third of the trio. Cogita's offered to craft the Red Chain, so... it's about time we get shit done.

Elita: My penchant for violence aside, let's circle back now to the island of Sulani, where today, this very morning in fact, was the big day for Stella Montgomery, future wife of King Triton. You see today, Stella was going to leave her human failings behind, she was going to attempt the change to become a Mer. Something that hadn’t been done for quite a few centuries. Tongues were a bit of a stir among both the islanders and the merfolk over it…
****
Elita: A woman from the mainland becoming their queen consort? Unbelievable! Stella approached the huge temple with Morrigan and Mama K with her, the redoubtable Mama K was currently on her 3rd cigar of the day. Stella marched closer.
Stella: Tibi gratias ago tibi utrumque, gia na mou kanei parea. Ego iustus volo vos et scire quantum aestimo te na eísai mazi mou kathos ypovallo aftín tin allagi.  ((Thank you both for keeping me company. I just want you both to know how much I value you being with me as I undergo this change)).
Elita: In a comparatively and, surprisingly short time, in case you forgot, Stella had become practically fluent in the Sulani tongue! Something that helped her case a lot with the locals!
Morrigan: Your Sulanese is remarkable. I am here to assist as best as I can.
Mama Kevari: She be fine, Princess. Dat be a truth!
****
Elita: Ok so from here on out, I’m just going to say what they said in Unilish because honestly my Sulanese is not the best but through this whole situation they were speaking their own native sulani lingo, got it? So… Triton nodded to her, communicating his full love and support with his eyes; all the sea lords had surfaced as well for this event.
Elita: Oh yeah, the Sea Lords, you’ve not met these guys before, ok, so, behind Triton as the lords from the other Mer houses. So going from left to right, that is how you’re looking at it, first up the tall baldy looking one, that’s Lord Abyssal, the shifty looking motherfucker next to him is Lord Narquad, then we have Lord Lunar, and finally, Lord Marianna. As you can see from Lord Abyssal’s similar pallor to King Triton’s, he doesn’t surface very often at all.
Triton: Stella, you are ready. Some of the people have gathered in the main area to watch this - successful -transformation.
Ozen: I’m sure you will be fine. If anyone can do this, it’s you.

Things to watch out for in Poke AU:
This AU is based on the timeline game play not anime. There's no Ash in this AU sorry guys
AU settings in Unova!
I decided that the pokemon owned here (unless they are from outside Unova or gifted/thrown away by their trainers sad i know) in AU are only pokemon in Unova's national pokedex (BW2)
no Danny can't go on Pokemon adventures officially yet because the protagonist Unova is technically the oldest of all the protagonists in all main timeline games (15-16 years old!) So Danny officially becomes a trainer when he's 15/16 years old :')
AU's main plot:
Very simple 11 12 with series but with pokemon! :]
Plot Hisui:
Let's just say Clockwork wanted Danny to take a vacation from his daily life as a super hero, so here Danny Hisui… Disguised as Danko joined the Galaxy Expedition Team, explored Hisui, researched Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark and met people and new pokemon!
Danny learned a lot about making pokeballs and other equipment. He was taught by Volo and Cyllene very often praised him & She also liked the performance as a member who was very active. He studied more closely about Zoroark & Zorua's abilities so that They could avoid conflicts between humans and Pokemon. in a few moments Danny & Volo were nicknamed "crime boy" by people because sometimes they made lot trouble, on how many occasions Danny found that Volo & Cyllene had a fight and stupidly thought they were kissing, for Danny Volo was a 'big brother' figure because of his nature who is confident and smart sometimes reminds him of Jazz sometimes but Volo is more of an asshole than Jazz and Volo gave him the Zoroark Mask on week 3 at Hisui as a reward for his promotion in Galaxy Expedition Team.
When Danny was going back to his timeline, he said goodbye to everyone and… Should he leave the pokemon he caught here? Clockwork says that he can keep and bring them to his timeline! What a relief! Danny comes back and he realizes he was only gone for 3 days… But he actually spent 3 months at hisui and realized he lost his Zoroark mask! Damn- he can't go back to Clockwork just to take that trivial thing… At the same time Volo who wants to return Danny's zoroark mask only finds snowy land with Danny's footprints.
Meeting Volo's (again):
Danny was exploring the ghost zone to make a map, he didn't invite Sam or Tucker because they were busy so well he was alone exploring the Ghost Zone until suddenly his ship's engine broke down and dropped him to the bottom of the Ghost Zone… When he realized Danny found himself in a place that had very different aura from Ghost zone… The place is full of mirrors and just then Danny is greeted by Giratina who seems quite impressed about Danny species, then Giratina and Danny actively talk a lot they have a lot in common! And Giratina took him somewhere and Danny saw someone familiar… Volo.
Danny & Volo were surprised to see each other… And at the end, after the preamble, Volo told him that he had wanted to destroy the world with Giratina but failed and he was cursed to spend his eternal cursed life, he angry with consuming hatred and obsession with Arcues to survive in the deepest part of the ghost zone… The distorted world, he only interacts with his Pokemon who are also eternally cursed and also Giratina… Sometimes Volo misses a lot of people from his past mass but he realizes he will never meet them again because they are most likely dead sometimes he laments the mask he made for Danny to relieve his boredom… Then he returns Danny's mask to Danny… "I thought I would never return this to you Danko but I'm lucky to be able to return it to you! I will never forget my pather in crime hahahaha!"

Sage freezes the first time they come across a mirror after Volo's failed attempt at extracting the parasite.
Really, it could have been much worse all things considered. Sure, they lost their eye but the prosthesis Volo gave them really balanced things out. Their sight isn't even worse for wear. And on top of that, they now don't have to rely on magic or potions to see invisibility. Worth the pain, really.
And yet, that first glance at their face makes them freeze up. They turn to fully face the mirror. Their reflection feels... off. Rationally, they know why. Their eye colour changed. Gone is the extremely pale grey, replaced by a strange mix of blue and green. And that is exactly it, isn't it?
It's gone. Their original eye colour is fully gone, never to be seen again.
Sage closes their eyes and turns away from the mirror. It doesn't matter.
-
That evening, Sage keeps staring into the flames of the campfire, mind returning to the sight of their reflection.
"Hey, you," Karlach startles them out of their thoughts, and Sage can't help but smile at her as she sits down next to them. They note the careful distance she always keeps, just close enough that Sage can feel the heat coming off her without risking any accidental touch.
"Hey," they answer, mildly distracted by the reflections of the fire on her skin.
"Soo," Karlach says, drawing the word out. Sage finally notices the discomfort she is projecting.
They open their mouth, but Karlach is faster: "Are you alright?"
Sage blinks. And then blinks again because their new eye still feels a little strange.
"Sure," they say, shrugging. "Why?"
Karlach leans towards them then, staring at their face. No, at their eyes. "Because of that. You keep blinking, and you looked like you were freaking out a bit when you looked into that mirror earlier today."
Ah. Had they really been that obvious? Sage leans back on their hands, and Karlach gets the hint, immediately moving back too.
"It's fine. Just something to get used to." They smile grimly. "Besides, it was my choice. I knew the risk."
"Yeah, about that. I didn't want to ask and make you uncomfortable before, but why did you let that weird guy poke out your eye?"
Sage snorts and immediately tries to hide it behind their hand. Karlach just smiles at them.
They shrug. "Figured one of us should let him try on the off-chance that he could actually get the parasite out."
Karlach stops smiling. "And it had to be you because...?"
They shrug again. "I could hardly ask any of you to try it. No, I'm the one that wanted to know, so I'm the one that had to do it."
"Not that I'm volunteering him, but maybe Wyll could have tried? Considering that one of his eyes is already fake."
Sage winces. "Uh, best not to interfere with an eye given to you by your patron. Speaking from experience here."
Karlach stares at them for a moment. "You mean..." She points between her own eye and Sage's left one. "That one isn't natural?"
They can't help themself; they laugh. "Oh no, no. That one used to be grey, too. Turned black when I made my pact. It lets my patron properly see what I see, and I can still use it, so it's not really a drawback for me."
"Right," Karlach says.
There is a moment of silence.
Karlach eventually breaks it, sounding somewhat hesitant. "So, your original eye colour was that pale grey, right?"
Sage nods. They're pretty sure they know where Karlach is going with this. They're not happy about it.
"And one of your eyes turned black."
They nod again and look away. Better to stare into the fire than see whatever expression Karlach is making.
"And now the other one was replaced, too."
They don't nod this time, just shrug. "Yep. I'm all out of grey."
Karlach makes an unhappy noise in the back of her throat, and Sage looks up, alarmed.
"Gods, I wish I could hug you right now and smooch that stupid face of yours," Karlach whines, flopping on her back dramatically.
Sage snorts again. They really can't help themself around her. They also have to stop themself from patting her arm patronisingly, no matter how funny it would be in their head.
"It's fine, really," they say instead. "Like I said, I'll get used to it. And it's not like people ever stopped staring at my eyes. First, it was because they were too pale and then because one was black. That part hasn't changed."
"But it's not fair!" Karlach sits up again, pointing a finger at Sage. "You should be able to keep your eye colour of all things!"
"Karlach," Sage smiles softly at her. They have the feeling that her reaction isn't entirely due to what happened to them. "You're very sweet, but keep in mind that this is entirely the result of my own choices. I chose to make my pact and I chose to let Volo poke around the way he did. I could have told him to stop at any point. I didn't. I wanted to see if he would be successful and was willing to accept both pain and consequences. In fact, him having a replacement ready that would still let me see out of it is a very fortunate outcome. It's okay. I'm okay."
Karlach doesn't cry, but she does sniffle quietly. Sage, too, wishes they could hug her.
"I liked the grey," she mumbles, but there is a small smile back on her face. Sage returns it readily.
"I just hope that wasn't the only thing you liked about me. Might make me regret my choices after all."
Karlach laughs and Sage feels warm inside. This is better. Karlach shouldn't be sad. Especially not on their behalf. No, Karlach deserves to be happy. And if Sage can help with that, well, they're determined to do everything in their power to do exactly that.

Random but I think you should know I suddenly started really loving Cyrus and I'm attributing this started because of you lol. I read one thing you wrote about him and it was over.
Now I'm constantly thinking about him. Especially any hybrid Cyrus ideas. Many many thoughts..
You ever consider hear me out. Honchkrow hybrid Cyrus. I'd want to run my hands through his feathers so bad. Help him keep them lookin' pretty and healthy.
Also please picture whether he wants them too or not Murkrow just swarm and follow him whenever he leaves his house.
Just.. pretty bird man. (ノ•﹏•) ノ
I've joked about him before (with he, Larry, and Volo making the Sinnoh bird trifecta), but I don't think I've ever given him any real thought.
He is so utterly flustered by his instincts and desperately tries to ignore them. Cyrus is meant to be intimidating, not making nests and trying to collect shiny objects. Granted, he doesn't mind collecting the screws from the latter activity. It is just embarrassing how easily something sparkling catches his attention. Needing to take so long in order to manage his feathers is utterly embarrassing, too.
All these behaviours only get worse with the presence of a mate. Poor guy now cannot resist his nest building urges, and his bed is transformed into something cosy. Your hand gently going through his feathers and readjusting and smoothing them out becomes a horrible comfort to him, and he hates how certain sounds just start escaping him. Working long hours may suddenly become more common as he desperately tries to distance himself from these feelings, but he will eventually return. Your aid in preening his feathers lets him escape for a while. He also starts unconsciously buying double servings even when he's eating alone to account for you. He just stares at his two burgers in minor horror.
Murkrows may flock to him for protection or just to seek leadership. There is something strange he feels as he stares at the small bird pokemon chirping at him for food. The way they stare at him reminds him of his grunts, and he tries not to give that too much thought. His poor apartment is surrounded my Murkrows, ultimately. They favour him too much. (It drives rent down, too.)

OK, took a long rest before resuming Hector's adventures; a couple of interesting camp developments:
First of all, there was no cutscene, but when we woke up, Jaheira announced, apropos of nothing that I could discern, "Turned to mist. The spawn share in some portion of their master's power."
I'm not sure what to make of this. Was there a cutscene that got bugged out? Or am I supposed to interpret this to mean that Cazador's people were hanging around our camp and got spooked by the sun rising? Perplexing.
Second, I just noticed that Volo hasn't been around since Act 3 started, and apparently he left a note!
Tumblr media
LOL. I'm not surprised he finally bailed. All he ever wanted to talk to me about whenever I tried to interact with him was his ocular surgery plan, which Hector was never going to go for. I guess this means we'll run into him again somewhere in the city though.
Third, a brief dialogue option with Jaheira. Hector said, "You mentioned there might be another way to find Minsc," and she answered, "There might be, but... it is not a path I'd tread until we must. Let it wait until the city proper. Perhaps I'll have had a better idea by then."
Apparently my assumption that we were in the city once we got past that first watcher at the gate was incorrect. Sadly this also seems to mean we can't immediately boot finding Minsc to the top of the priority pile since I don't yet know where the entrance to the "city proper" even is yet.
Fourth, a VERY interesting conversation with Astarion:
Hector: "I want to discuss the Astral-Touched Tadpole."
Astarion: "We both know what it is capable of. But I'm not touching it."
Hector, more than a little surprised by this: "Unlike you to be so unwilling to receive a new power..."
Astarion: "That was before I knew the cost. Before I knew it meant transforming into some grotesque beast. I remember how it hurt when I turned into a vampire. My body writhed and warped while I was utterly helpless, the grip of death owned my heart as it beat its last. I-- I don't want to turn into anything else. I can't do that again. I can't watch my body be taken over."
Tumblr media
He looked, and sounded, SO incredibly upset, the poor guy. :(
Tumblr media
Hector, to be honest, was more than a little relieved because he has considered Astarion the most likely to want to indulge in the illithid powers (and control the elder brain, later) no matter the cost. But he also feels terrible for having gotten him so upset, and of course quickly backed off. "All right, I will speak no more on the matter."
Tumblr media
"I had nothing for so long. Nothing. Not even my own body. I will *not* give it up, now it's mine again."
Poor guy. :(
Also had a quick chat with Wyll about Stelmane. He doesn't believe that she was actually willing partners with the Emperor, just that it must have made her an offer she couldn't refuse. He also mentioned having met Stelmane twice; that she was lively and beautiful when he first met her as a boy, but weaker and struggling when he met her later. He said his father explained it as her having suffered a stroke. Hector had enough insight to gauge that Wyll questioned this story somewhat, but not enough persuasion to pursue the discussion any further right now. So we'll tuck that away for later.
Finally, Gale had an exclamation mark over his head. According to the dialogue history screen, he had a whole speech here: "So the devil himself is pursuing the Crown. As for whether it's truly the Crown Karsus forged? Well, I think it's safe to assume we shouldn't take anything Raphael utters at face value. We *must* claim the Crown of Karsus for ourselves, before anyone else does."
Which is a perfectly reasonable bit of dialogue, but the speech glitched out and so all that happened when I clicked on him was that he stared directly at Hector and snapped, "We *must* claim the Crown of Karsus for ourselves, before anyone else does!" without any other context. Which was pretty funny. XD
Anyway, back to city explorations!
