yo dude i was really curious and i just read yr primal fear fic, just wanted to say that your writing is genuinely so impressive.. not a lot of people could take a prompt like this and actually give it so much substance, your stuff shows such a deep level of understanding of the media ur working with +intuitiveness.. like characterizing shit well from 90s movies is crazy hard and u like immediately got how to write an in-character martin vail so if u can do that u can do any thing im like blown away 🙈 cant wait to see what u do in the future with yr original stuff, youre a beast with the pen ✍️✍️
sobbing for real dude.... this is so kind... "shows such a deep understanding of the media youre working with" truly there is few better compliments 😭 the 'from 90s movies' part is hard as hell sometimes yeah... I feel like I understand the psyche pretty well but there's so much just general milieu that's easy to just... not even realize is relevant. Of course it helps that most of my readers are also not particularly familiar with the 90s lmao but. Idk I try to keep that post-fall of the soviet union pre-9/11 immense nihilism in mind. Fortunately I have some friends who have a pretty strong lock on the vibe for one reason or another who help too— I assume they'd tell me if it was a 'he would not fucking say that' situation haha. It's funny wrt Martin Vail because I do think I did him pretty passably.. I don't always mesh into characters well per se; like for Tyler, I think I understand him pretty well but it's still tricky to figure out how to actually word what he says — I'm tempted to outsource to @a-forsteri who has a goddamn LOCK on it... we should collab, bestie... but regardless yeah Vail was an interesting one for sure. You only get so much characterization of him in the movie, really. Thanks for reading and I'm really glad you enjoyed it, comments like this are what keep me going fr :')

Hey! I have been following you for a minute and I must say, I’m so in love with both story and art chiefs kiss 😚🤌❤️ I can’t wait to see more from you and that creative mind of yours
I wanted to ask, where did you learn how to write? Do you possibly have any advice/tips that you could share? You’ve honestly inspired me to create my own story with my own character but I get pretty overwhelmed when looking at the blank page lol. Like I know what the general idea is that I want to write but I don’t know how to write out the journey from point A to point B if that makes sense 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
your ask inspired me to go back to my old naruto fanfic from 2011 and pick out some winners. as you can see, i didnt start off as an amazing writer or anything LMAOO. i've always read a LOT ever since i was a kid though, and just like with art, you just kinda learn and get better by doing over and over, and reading and absorbing others writing. (and also thank you!! im happy you enjoy both my art and my fic!!💖😭) but more specifically, like how i think of how i'll fill the page and get from point A to point B...i also dunno? LOL. ive always made comics ever since i was young/made stories in my head, and my whole drive when i write fanfic or even draw fanart is hyperfixation LMAO, so there's something inside of me that's just bursting to get out and i don't even really have to think about it. though i will say, as someone writing a longfic, that hyperfixation can only carry me so far and i HAVE had to stare at a blank word doc and think about how i might get from point A to point B. but honestly something that's helpful is to know which scenes you absolutely WANT/your inspiration for writing the fic/story in the first place, and then try to build off of those scenes. think of what might have led up to them/what you can do to PREVENT them from getting there, to add more sustenance/drama/etc. also, writing advice i saw a while ago that i always think about is 'how can this get any worse?' LOL. so like, if you think the scene is fine and you've added enough events, just for fun, continue to think....ok, but what ELSE could possibly go wrong? its really helped me to flesh out scenes that, in retrospect, would have been way too short and to-the-point otherwise. but again with fanfic, at least for me, a lot of it is just self indulgent/comes down to what *I* want to see bahaha. im my own biggest fan LMAO. everything in my longfic is exactly what *I* like, with all the dynamics *i* enjoy, literally written BY me and FOR me, first and foremost LOL. so maybe start there. just think of all the tropes you like/things you've enjoyed in other media, and think about how you can repurpose them into your own story and setting in an original way! that was super long LMFAO but i hope it may have helped, and ty again for the nice words😭 happy you enjoy what im doing!!💖💖

Hi Rose!!! 🫐 and 🍈 for the ask game pls <33
hi em!! ty :)
🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)
okay so. I haven’t posted for this ship and I think no one will agree with me but this is probably my time to come out as… a prongsfoot shipper. I have read like every fic under the tag on ao3. I have ranted to maggie about why they work. I have felt the shame of even considering them.
they’re certainly not my favorite pairing together, and they’re one of those ships that a lot of the time, I don’t really see working out in the long run, but it can be so fun. really this all just comes down to the fact that I am first and foremost a friends to lovers girlie, and if done well, they can be so good.
I think it comes down to like a lot of people really love and relate to regulus, and then can see him in various pairings. and while I love him, i’m not sure I relate to him? so I struggle when he’s in any other ship bc i’m like wait. no. it has to be jeg. so on the flip, i’m kinda down to read james with anyone? like will entertain almost any of it. idk if that makes sense? essentially I just love james and am happy to read him in most pairings bc im still reading him.
otherwise I think ravenclaw barty is pretty underrated and enjoy when I see that occasionally!
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.
mmm james. always james.
i’m trying to think of specific things I include about him in all of my fics though.
I always see him as desi, even if I don’t tag it bc it doesn’t come up. but in both of my long fics, it is tagged, and ive specifically dived a bit into what state in india his family was from, bits of their culture, traditional foods, etc. the only time ive ever been out of north america was when I went to India when I was 14? 15? so i’ve really enjoyed like showcasing a bit of desi james beyond just saying he’s desi.
otherwise, I don’t really subscribe to the sunshine headcanon? i’ve used metaphors about the sun before, bc they’re easy lmao, but he is not like. this always happy always perfect guy. in fact he is like, usually a major fuck up in my fics. and I think that’s good! let him make his mistakes, yanno?
idk if any of this makes sense or if it’s all too long but ty for the asks again <3

Paparazzi.
Pairing: Sebastian Stan x F!Reader
Genre: Fluff, Angst
Warnings: TOO META, m*sturbation, mentions of s*x
Requested: nope
Summary: I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you until you love me... Y/N Y/L/N writes Marvel fanfictions. One day, Sebastian stumbles upon her account and, unable to help himself, reads all the stuff she has written about him. He didn't mean to fall so hard for her but he does. How can he not? She has shown him parts of himself that he never even knew existed.
Author's Note: Hiya peeps! Okay so a few weeks ago I read a similar (but dark) fanfic and I really wanted to write a softer version of it... Enjoy!
---
Same old, boring routine.
Y/N hit post and slumped against the headrest of her bed, sighing. She waited; a minute, then two passed and she noticed that someone had liked her post. She smiled to herself as she kept her phone away. Though boring, she wouldn't trade her life for the world. Y/N… well, she was a university student first and foremost but she was also a writer.
Being a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she had started writing fanfictions a few years ago. She posted them on Tumblr, where her blog, though not very well-known, stood out enough for her posts to get around 800-1000 likes per post. She loved it; she loved writing, she loved posting her stories and especially, she loved the feedback.
Sometimes people were rude, but most times, the reviews she got were fantastic. She read each and every one of them, smiling goofily as people freaked out over her fanfictions. It warmed her heart. A smile automatically blooming on her face, Y/N lay down on the bed and decided to go to sleep, it being almost 3 am.
Unbeknownst to her, someone else was up at the same time, tossing and turning in his bed, restless.
Sebastian sighed as he sat up, running a hand through his hair. He drank some water and lay down again, closing his eyes but it was like sleep was mad at him. Refused to be anywhere near him. He groaned to himself and picked up his phone from the nightstand, deciding to go through Instagram, hoping he'd finally fall asleep to the glare of the screen.
As he logged into his account, he skipped the activity page and went straight to the explore page. Bored, he continued scrolling until his eyes landed on a specific photo. And the breath escaped his lungs when he clicked on it; the woman in the picture was absolutely gorgeous. He just couldn't resist going to her page, smiling widely when he read her bio.
It gave him her basic information; her name, her age, the university she attended. But what caught his eye was the link below the bio. My Marvel Fanfictions Master List. Marvel fanfictions? She was a writer? Smirking, he clicked on the link and it took him to Tumblr. Of course, he'd heard of the site, but didn't have an account on there. At 3 am, his mind sure wasn't working right.
A post popped up on the screen, the same master list she had mentioned earlier. And his eyes bulged out of their sockets; damn, those are a lot of fanfictions. He went through the whole thing, smirking again when he noticed that she had written the most fanfictions about him. Not Bucky Barnes, no, Sebastian Stan.
He clicked on the first one. The date of posting was way back, in 2019. He started reading; nothing about it felt weird to him; he was intrigued, if anything. And as he continued reading, he couldn't help but imagine her being in the stead of the female protagonist. Her, the writer. The woman whose picture had made him end up reading in the first place.
When he finished the story, his heart thudded wildly in his chest. Wow, she really has a way with words. And he had also noticed how in the author's note, she used a lot of slang but reading the story had made him realize that she had an amazing, extensive vocabulary. He went back to the master list and clicked on the latest post under his name.
Posted: 15 minutes ago.
His breath hitched in his throat when he read the warnings: there was going to be sexual intercourse in this one. For one moment, he hesitated; did he really want to read this? "Oh fuck it," he huffed and scrolled, starting to read. The more he read, the more his shaft twitched in his pants. He wasn't really like that during… but oh damn, he wasn't complaining.
"Oh, Seb…"
His hand slid down and he rubbed himself through his boxers, unable to take his eyes off the text in front of him. His strokes got harder and faster as the sex got steamier. "Ungh, I'm gonna cum—" And he suddenly came in his boxers, groaning. Slumping down on the bed, he quickly finished reading the rest of it, going back to the master list.
He took a screenshot with the account's name in it and then went back to her Instagram account to take another screenshot. Keeping his phone away, he slipped out of his boxers, cleaned himself and pulled the covers on top of him, finally feeling tired enough to fall asleep.
---
Y/N was walking across the campus of her university, going to the cafeteria when her phone buzzed in her pocket. Taking it out, she opened Tumblr to read the message someone had sent her just then.
his-username: Hi there! I was binging your account last night, you write really well
your-username: Omg thank you!!!! I really appreciate it, I love getting feedback! 🥺❤
his-username: You're welcome! Especially your latest post, that was really good ;)
your-username: hehe 😈 glad you liked it!
Smiling widely, she kept her phone away and continued walking, not knowing that the person who had texted her was the same man she had written about. Sebastian smiled to himself when he read her text. After getting up in the morning, the first thing he had done was install Tumblr on his phone. Then he made an account for himself.
Figuring out the app was easy; he found out that there was an option to keep your liked posts and the accounts you followed hidden, and selected it immediately. No one needed to know what he did on the app. Then he went back to her account, pressed the follow button and started binge-reading her fanfictions again. Last night had he read only two, and that had left him wanting more.
Funny how much things can change in a night. He liked and reblogged all her posts without a second thought; he even read all her Bucky Barnes posts. She understood his character so well, put him on what he thought was an undeserved pedestal while writing about him. Some of the stories were AUs, which he found out stood for Alternate Universes. Mostly mobster or mafia stuff.
He had the day off, and he spent the entire time cooped up in his apartment, on his bed, reading. The more he read, the more he started fawning over her, over the version of him that she put out to the world. Dominating, suave and just perfect. He loved it. At the end of the day, he decided to text her again, hoping she wouldn't think he was weird or find out the truth.
his-username: do you wanna be friends, maybe? I'm new to the app, don't really have any friends here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That was a lie, he knew Mark Ruffalo had an active Tumblr account. But it's not like he could tell him.
your-username: Yes sure!!!! I was also thinking of making some friends on this app lol
his-username: You don't have any on here? But you've been here for years, haven't you?
your-username: haha yeah, but I don't really reach out to people much. Sometimes people leave their feedbacks on my posts, text me but that's that
his-username: Ohhh
his-username: well, let's start with names. Mine's Sebastian
your-username: Really?????? omg that's so cool lmaooooooo (didn't think you were a boy but 😳👀)
his-username: Not a boy, I'm a man 😤😂
your-username: 🤣 im y/n, btw
his-username: Y/N, that's a nice name
your-username: thank you!!!! So, what do you do?
his-username: nothing really that interesting, I'm in theatre
your-username: theatre is nice! I'm studying at [university] in New York lmao
his-username: Wait you're in New York? So am I!
your-username: ASDFHKSHKGF that's awesome!!! also I noticed that you've been going through my account the whole day 😏 notifications upon notifications keeping my phone busy
his-username: Oopsie?
your-username: 😂😂 I really don't mind, it was great! Despite the amount of likes on my posts, I only have a few loyal followers lmao gaining one more felt nice
your-username: You a big fan of Sebastian Stan? Cuz I noticed that you were only reading his and Bucky's fics 👀
Sebastian's face heated up.
his-username: kinda yeah 🤷🏻‍♂️😁
your-username: Cool cool cool, I'm a big fan of his too!!!! also got a crush on him but whatever 😳
Sebastian smirked at his phone. A crush on him, huh? That… was acceptable. He suddenly felt his cocky side coming out; the one she described in nearly all her fanfictions.
his-username: wouldn't blame ya, I mean, look at him. You have also written the most fics about him and Bucky
your-username: right????? damn that man has raised my standards. Anyway, I gtg now, I have to finish a paper before midnight. ttyl!
his-username: Bye! 👋🏻
He kept his phone away and took in a deep breath. This was the most fun he had had in years, and he was not letting her go so easy. He realized he was quickly falling for her; rather unhealthy, but he couldn't help it. Look at her. She looks like a goddamn angel, writes like one, makes him feel like one, do you really expect him not to fall for her? That's insane.
---
Months passed by like a breeze. Y/N and Sebastian had become very good friends, and he knew his way around words just enough to keep her from finding out his identity while not lying to her. Y/N also appreciated his friendship, because he was the one to whom she could rant about her most favorite man in the world— Sebastian Stan.
Sometimes, she thought about how weird of a coincidence it was that her new friend and the actor shared the same names, but then she used to brush it off; that was a common name, right? They talked for hours on end; Sebastian (her friend, not the actor) was extremely witty, smart and fun to talk to, she had to admit. Sebastian felt the same way.
His feelings had worsened. Y/N entirely owned his heart now. Somedays, he'd just go on Instagram, go to her account— her username memorized by him— and stare at her photos until he grew tired; he'd never get tired of looking at her beautiful face but his stiff body afterwards begged to differ. She was just so Elysian. He longed for the moment when he could meet her in real life.
His personality had also changed majorly, and people had caught on. Especially his Marvel co-stars, who knew him to be introverted, shy and, in Anthony Mackie's words, "boring". They were surprised at his sudden change in attitude; he knew his worth and Y/N had helped tremendously in finding it. Now, all those adjectives that she used in her fanfictions fit him perfectly.
Sebastian was never tempted to read fanfictions about himself from authors other than Y/N. No, he only loved her work. He was sure no one else could write as beautifully as she did, he was her #1 fan. Y/N even sent him funny Marvel memes she found on the app and he used to enjoy them heartily; God, the others have no idea what they're missing out on. Our fans are awesome.
Everything was going well.
Until one day.
Sebastian was getting bored at home, so he decided to go to the nearby library to clear his mind. He had read not one book in the past few months, hung up on Y/N's fanfictions. At this point, he was obsessed with her and he knew it. It was nothing dark, per se, it was— it was similar to how Y/N was attracted to Sebastian. How she was a fan of his work.
Just the same. He was a fan of her work in the same way. Just how she was attracted to him, he was attracted to her. Walking into the library that he visited often, he gave the librarian a smile and ventured further into the dark place. He checked his watch; the library closed at 12 am, it was currently 9:30 pm.
Not many people were around, heck, nobody was around. He thought himself to be all alone until he heard it. A sigh, coming from a few aisles away. He walked in that direction and peeked around the corner, freezing when he saw the other person. Y/N? Her books were strewn all across the table as she sat alone at the booth, rubbing her temples.
"You okay?"
She looked up and her breath caught in her throat. I'm dreaming. This is not real. Now I know for a fact that Sebastian Stan is not standing in front of me, asking me if I'm— "Hello?" He snapped his fingers in front of her face, pulling her out of her thoughts. "I, uh— I'm— h-hi," she stammered and he almost chuckled. "Hi." She gulped visibly and blinked at the table, not meeting his eyes.
"Can I have a seat?" He wants to sit with me?! "Y-Yes, sure, sir," she blurted out and he easily slid into the booth next to her. "Hey, please, call me Sebastian. What's your name?" He gave her a friendly smile, even though all he wanted to do was push her back into the booth and kiss her wildly. His shaft twitched just by thinking about it; Y/N was a thousand times more beautiful in person.
"I'm Y/N, it's very nice to meet you, I'm… I'm a fan," she admitted, playing with the ring she wore on her left thumb. I'm your fan too, sweetheart, the biggest one. "Y/N, nice name. You come here often? I haven't really seen you around." She shook her head. "Oh no no, I moved to this part of the city just a week ago, this is my first time here. The library is cozy," she shrugged, easing out of her tense position.
Sebastian nodded. "Yes, I know, this place is awesome. Got all my favorite books here," he chuckled and she smiled at him. "What's all this?" A groan left her lips. "Ugh, stupid university work. I have to write a book report but I don't even know what to write about." He smiled gently. "Well, I have a few favorite books, would you like some suggestions?"
"Oh, please! Tell me!"
He started listing some of his favorite works and Y/N noted the names down until he said the last name. At that, she froze. That's the name of my latest— She looked up but he had a smile on his face. "Oh, and the last one is by my favorite author." He took a pause. "Y/N Y/L/N." She froze completely, staring at the man with her jaw dropped.
Sebastian grinned. "We finally meet, Y/N, I've been waiting for months." Her mouth opened and closed several times as she recalled every interaction she had had with her online best friend— scratch that— her celebrity crush. All the times she had confessed her love for Sebastian Stan, all the dirty and inappropriate memes that she'd sent him…
Embarrassment flooded her entire body as she exhaled shakily. "It was you," she croaked out, "On Tumblr, the account— I'm so sorry—" Sebastian frowned in confusion when she blinked back sudden tears, a few still rolling down her cheeks as shame replaced embarrassment. "Y/N, please don't cry…" She looked up at him, his figure blurry due to her tears.
"You've read everything, haven't you? I just— I'm sorry, I don't want to make you uncomfortable—" He pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly. Y/N couldn't hug back, though she appreciated the hug especially since it came from him. "You don't know how much you mean to me, doll," he mumbled into her shoulder, using the nickname she often used in the stories she wrote about him. He grew accustomed to it easily.
"Huh?"
He pulled away to wipe her tears. "It was an accident," he admitted, "But I stumbled onto your Instagram account from my explore page. Then I clicked on your account, saw that you wrote Marvel fanfictions and I just couldn't resist the urge to read what you had written. Blame it on 3 am me, to be honest. You're a great writer, and I was immediately drawn to your works. They're awesome.
"They've helped me so much in the past few months. You see this changed attitude that everyone's been talking about lately? All because of you, sweetheart. I'm sorry for keeping my identity secret, but after reading your works, I knew I had to get closer to you. I made the Tumblr account just for you, just so I could talk to you. I'm sorry for lying, but thank you."
Y/N dumbfoundedly stared at him for a few moments, her heart beat getting steady with each thump. Here was a man she admired, loved more than anyone else in the world, telling her that he harbored the same feelings for her. How crazy was that?! Not trusting her words, she simply pulled him into another hug. Sebastian wrapped his arms tight around her, pulling her flush against him.
"Can I kiss you, doll?"
She slowly pulled away from him and nodded, shyly biting her lip. Grinning at the endearing gesture, Sebastian cupped her face and leaned in, gently pressing his lips to hers. The kiss grew hungry in a matter of seconds, and Y/N responded just as eagerly. His hands slid down to her waist and tugged on it, pulling her on his lap. She straddled his thighs as they continued kissing.
"Fuck," he groaned when they finally pulled away from each other, out of breath and panting. "You see what you do to me, doll?" Sebastian spoke huskily as he took her hand, placing it right on top of the tent that was forming in his pants. "Oh," Y/N whimpered when she felt him, the sound going straight to his shaft. "How about I take you home and we recreate some of the scenes from your stories, hm?"
"O-Okay."
"Good girl."

given the topic of reylos and fandom, im gonna say a thing and i hope it makes sense, but if it doesnt definitely feel free to point out
as context, i spent most of my entire 20+ years of life engrossed in fandom. im the white autistic girl exploring sexuality and identity through fandom lenses that these communities love to trot out as the reason why fandom criticism is a form of oppressive rhetoric (its not).
fandom has always been an actively hostile space to those it considers "other" (black people overall and most especially black women, gay men who are treated as concepts and not people and told to be silent on the trend of harmful abusive slash fiction). it has not ever been a fully welcoming community
but i really do believe reylos ruined fandom as a concept overall
to elaborate, the size and proliferation of reylos sparked a league of discourse that left the boundaries of star wars entirely and instead focused around a singular question, applicable regardless of media content you consume. who is fandom for? this question split the identity of fandom in twain.
reylos, and quickly following behind pro-shippers and anti antis, answered that fandom was for "everyone" but in reality encouraged an environment where fan content was never questioned or criticized regardless of its contents or implications and that to do so indicated something about you as a person rather than your critical debate skills or media consumption. fandom was a space for pleasure, sexual and literary, first and foremost, and nothing could infringe on that. it is considered the ultimate escapism and ultimate freedom, through the thin veneer of fiction. nothing you say or do reflects anything about your person because none of it is real, it only FEELS and is meant to feel good, via catharsis or fluff or erotic fanworks. the fiction you write is a means of exploring your happiness through a vehicle of media consumption, with no bearing on reality whatsoever, so even if you write objectively awful triggering topics, the only request is that you at least acknowledge its fucked up even if you do NOTHING to protect other people from it. it is a position of inherent selfishness actively hostile to marginalized peoples, most especially women of color.
on the other side of this divide is anyone with a functioning brain. grossly oversimplifying the situation but this is already long enough lmao.
the faults of individuals acting in these debates is almost tangential. awful people of all stripes were drawn to both sides of the divide to leverage power gained from getting clout through discourse, but one side was significantly more accepting due to the inherent nature of their position. if you thought fandom was meant to be fun and nothing else, all you really had to do was apologize and everything would be swept under the rug. obviously plenty of people get away with this shit no matter what, but we have to notice the trend of genuinely awful and abusive reylos and anti-antis continously able to remake and move accounts with no issues
this discourse moved from star wars into the general online conversation, and then was taken back to individual fandom communities. and fandom was absolutely torn apart. anyone who couldnt stand it packed up and left, artists were driven out by the droves of people who liked their art and saved it but refused to share or reblog it, fanfiction writers didnt get any interaction unless they went out of their way to cater to the niche specific fanon interpretations regardless of how much it clashed with the source material, and reylos and their legacy fostered an active culture of harassment.
reylos didnt just ruin star wars
reylos ruined *everything*, even for the communities of people they hold up as their martyr, white autistic girls like myself exploring identity.
there is no content for questioning people anymore. there is no content of exploration. there is no fic detailing recovering from abuse with loved ones while exploring facets of yourself you couldnt face. im sex repulsed and wlw, can you imagine how hard it is for me to find something that covers these topics that isnt straight up porn?
these problems are compounded even MORE for anyone who isnt white, to levels i am shielded from thanks to my privelege. and now, when people like stitch find publication to discuss her experiences in an open forum, she is subject to a harrassment campaign that is now the norm.
its monstrous
(sorry for the long ask rip, hope u enjoy the impromptu essay)
i wouldn’t say reylos are the ones who ruined fandom but instead they are the natural progression of a community where racism has run rampant and it’s run rampant for the reasons you listed.
reylos in particular are especially sinister in the way they utilize progressive language as a way to shield themselves from criticisms of racism and make themselves feel justified in viciously attacking and driving out poc who speak up. and that way they can make the fandom a safe space for themselves and only themselves. and other fandoms do the same.

hi mem!! a few months ago i read your fic--the one where james griffin couldn't help his parents falling in love--and i fell in love with it. it makes me unbearably happy in this nostalgic, melancholy way. just absolutely beautiful. now, im starting to write my very first fic--an adam-centric adashi piece--and i'm wondering if you have any tips for a first-time fic writer? plot tips? characterization tips? background music tips? coffee tips? anything you have, i'll take. thank you so much!! ily
Thank you!! Somewhere A Clock is Ticking is one of my fave things I've ever written and I legit cried during both the writing and editing process of that story so it makes me so glad you enjoyed it!
I'm really excited for this fic! I think Adam is such a good character to start with if you're working on your first because we know very little of his canon persona–and that means you get to unleash all your creativity to flesh him out. He can be from any background, speak any language, have little or a lot of family, etc. I love getting to create an Adam-sona anytime I write him in. Sometimes he's a calming partner, a stubborn and stern teacher, or a wine-uncle fun idea machine.
I have a LOT OF TIPS but I'll try to keep this to the point because really I could ramble for days on this subject so feel free to message me or hmu again for any follow up:
Write a story that you would want to read. I know this seems obvious but the easiest things for me to write are when I think "I want to read THIS in a fic and it's so specific that I will just go ahead and make it for myself and not care if anyone else likes it." Write for your own enjoyment, first and foremost.
Make a soundtrack first. I can only speak for myself but when I set up a story I also set up a playlist in my head and I write while listening to it. Sometimes I think of it like a movie soundtrack and different songs belong to different sections. IDK it helps me when I have to switch tone or POV or write a lot of action without dialogue? I sometimes do use those relaxing beats to study to soundtracks/streams, if that helps? I say try to avoid podcasts bc they can muss up your concentration with dialogue but to each their own. Hit shuffle and keep an eye (ear?) on what music works best for you!
Give your character a weird quirk or a strange habit or a funny story their parent/bff/sibling can tell from their childhood. Some of my personal favorite headcanons are: Keith loves Dolly Parton, Lance attempted to eat a jellyfish off the beach as a child, Allura puts milk in before tea, Shiro has a secret terrible sense of humor and can't hold his liquor, etc. You can even make one up, the more specific the better. Right now I'm poking around with a story idea involving Lance being really into limericks.
You are going to project at some point, and that is so okay. Put a story in about character A and character B doing a silly thing you and your friend/cousin/whoever did when you were a kid. Make that quirk be something you do (like maybe you're a 30-something college graduate that still lisps and stutters when she tries to say the word 'specific' haha what? Who?) But seriously, stories that have a grounding in reality help the reader suspend disbelief especially if you're working with a fantasy/scif-fi canon or AU. Writing Adam as a time-traveling were-panther? Make him that, but he's also super-into Magic: The Gathering and he teaches all his fellow time-traveling were-cats how to play and now they all kick his ass and he sometimes regrets it. It gives your reader a way to relate to your character and they'll be more willing to suspend disbelief for zany hijinks or they won't see someone that's too perfect or too invincible.
Your audience can infer more than you realize, so don't be afraid to not tell them if something is funny or sad or beautiful. Just write what it is and let them make their conclusions. Tell them that the first kiss between two characters was messy and wet and someone bit the other's lip but then they rest their foreheads together and laugh and just breathe, hands intertwining. You don't have to say 'they did so romantically', because if you describe a thing that you think is sweet or funny or romantic in an honest way, it reads through.
To quote the Beastie Boys, I like my sugar with coffee and cream? But yeah, always good to have prepared some writing snacks and beverages and take breaks!
Hope this helps! Good luck!!

2019 Writer’s Round-Up
I was tagged by the lovely and amazing talented @elveny! Thanks angel face! <3
Okay so... lol i will attempt this but I’m really bad at remembering all the things due to simply not keeping track of it all xD
Tagging forth to ALL of my writer friends here on this platform and since i believe that most of clan piranha has been tagged, i wont individually tag yall. But consider yourselves tagged if you were not infact tagged by someone else xD ❤️
Word count
*blinks* Ohhhh yeah thats one of those things i never actually really kept track of as a whole total type deal. Most of my ficlets wound up between 1k words to 3k words. Lemme try to math for a minute...
Tumblr media
So yeah... math and my brain are literally not the best of friends BUT roughly i have written about 250000 words this year. and thats including WIPs and unfinished bits that may or may not ever see the light of day. This year was a bit hectic in many more ways than one so i feel i didn’t write nearly as much as i have in the past but thats okay xD
Number of smut scenes
2. believe it or not. THis tells me i didn’t write NEARLY enough smut this year xD That will change next year im sure xD. Though in the interest of full disclosure 1 of those 2 scenes has not been published and probably will not be published. xD
New things I tried this year
Hmmm, this one is a bit of a thinker. Im not really sure i actively tried new things in the world of writing and words tbh. I entered and started writing a fic for a new fandom and not just swtor this year.
Oh wait! I made two pages in my blog that “master lists” for the two fandoms i now write in. One for my SWTOR fics and one for my Arcana fics. thats new for me xD
Favourite thing I wrote this year
Okay, I can’t really pick one fave thing i wrote this year. Recently I enjoyed writing my Arcana fic, “Of hearts and magic”. I always love writing about my SWTOR OTP: Jaydzia x Theron, Seth is a fun bean to write tbh. I dont think i have a specific ficlet i wrote that stands out to be above the rest tho. Maybe next year.
Favourite fic I read this year
Oh goodness there is ALOT lolool. THo i have also fallen behind on the reading of fics. There are simply so many talented writers in the fandoms i enjoy.
First and foremost tho i enjoy all the writing from my fellow Piranha’s. I refuse to pick just one yall just too talented.
@Greyias’s Fruitcake crackfic is amazing and a timeless masterpiece
AND the Theorn Shanks Holiday special is simply SUBLIME xD (also by @greyias
Writing goals for 2020
Goals? What is a goal? xD lol jk
1. Write more in general tbh. I had way more time devoted to other pursuits as well as College, etc.
2. Reorganize myself so i can write for the two fandoms that I write for with more regularity.
3. READ more fic. I need to catch up.
4. And incorporate more of my art into my writing. I’ve been wanting to have it where I have a scene(or something similar) drawn for a fic/chapter i have written. I like little visuals liek that.
there’s more but i think i have more art goals personally than writing goals tbh. xD
Words of Thanks
ALL OF YOUs.  Truly, Clan Piranha, yall just the best and most amazing group for friends a little bean like me could ever hope for.
There’s simply alot of people so to those reading this, seeing this on your dash for one reason or another, you’re awesome and I can’t thank you enough for being your awesome self.
Stay awesome, Angel Faces.

Note
I can only imagine the work you put in to make this fic what it is, it really feels like a craft of love!! Im so happy that everyone loves it so much and that your writing is apreciated, because you are really talented and you deserve it!
Tumblr media
That is so sweet of you, anon! 😊😊 Thanks for saying that.
Not gonna lie, it really is a lot of work. lol It takes planning and writing and then deleting and writing again (repeat process) until everything feels right. In this case, it also involved watching A LOT of The Originals, which wasn't always the nicest. lol But that's the same for all fics. There's a lot of work that goes behind writing anything. Some people might have easier processes, but sitting down to write ANYTHING, whether long or short or incredibly dramatic or fluffy and funny, takes time and dedication. It's been over a year since TO ended and fandom keeps going with events an exchanges and fics being posted or updated everyday because there are still people out there interested in reading. So the readers are just as important as the writers, because if there was no interest, there'd be no updates. Writing is fun, but fandom is all about sharing, first and foremost.
I'm saying all this because it's important to remember to tell your content creators (whether they're fic writers, or gif makers, or art makers, or whatever) that you appreciate what they do! If you read something you like, TELL THEM. If you see a really awesome gifset, REBLOG AND TELL THEM. Leave a comment! Send a message! That means so much! It really, really does. You never know what that person's life is like, if they're having a bad day, or a bad week, or if they're just really uncertain and awkward about what they did, and getting validation can never go wrong. It's awesome! It spreads love! \o/
I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure it's the same for (almost) everyone. When I post something I get SO excited to see how people are going to react. I really did pour a lot of time into writing The Wolf, especially the last chapter. I really can't complain because I've getting an amazing support for the past few updates, but I guess what I'm saying is people should remember to do this always and more often and no matter how many times someone updates and also to all the stuff they read/see and enjoy, not just The Wolf or my stuff specifically. That's how fandom keeps going and how awesome stuff keeps being created.
I totally hijacked your comment here lol Sorry! But thank you! This is a really sweet thing to say and it's exactly the kind of comment that really does make my day. :)
