not often do my interests collide but archie madekwe filming a coming-of-age roadtrip with a suspiciously queer looking friend group for a folk song featuring bon iver… that was insane. never forgetting that one.

4 minutes and 30 seconds and suddenly i need an whole indie movie about them like cmon.

i tend to not stylize my eyes too much because i want there to be room for more variety of expressions but i decided to make an eye sheet for the burs i usually think about, and i want to someday create an expression sheet with them to test out the eyes and everything to see if they can still be flexible towards certain expressions

i tried to make lmanburs eyes look more a square with softer edges, but for his eyes, i wanted to make it shaped like a diamond to signify royalty as he is in a position of power, so i did exactly that! he also has big rectangular brows because i love big brows <33 and i think it would absolutely fit his stoic expression when still, but also make way for more of his expressions if ever i try to move around with it

pogburs eyes are my FAVORITE i tried to make his eyes wide and cat-like, with sharp edges and sharper eyelashes that looks like its pulling on the eyelids to give it more of an illusion that its even wider than it actually is! i wanted to give him a frantic kind of eye; where he looks so completely alive, yet his eyes/pupils look so FUCKING dead like he just lost something great in front of him! i also thought an eyebrow slit fits him and i tried to make one end bigger than the other to give him a more sharper look

reviveburs eyes was a harder than the rest but i tried to make it look like he just woke up after a great slumber— hes meant to look weary, tired, while paired with golden rimmed eyes/pupils; i also want him to be able to have a thousand yard stare as those kinds of stares are often formed by traumatized war veterans post-war! i also like to hc that pogbur and lmanbur has red eyes— that each have their respective meanings (lmanburs eyes are red with orange-goldish hues, to signify passion and love, while pogburs eyes are a gradient of charcoal black to red, to signify a burning fire being whisked away to a mere flame; reviveburs golden eyes with red circles to signify a sense of rebirth ^—^)

phantomburs eyes are droopy and softer, because he canonically has social anxiety, and i want him to always look like he's half nervous every scenario he's in, but i made his eyes piercing— its meant to resemble and reference the fact that he's a literal monster hybrid, but i didnt want to make him look like a venomous snake. because hes actually a harmless person, so i made the pupils resemble more of a cat to reference his mischief and still highlight his origin as a phantom instead)

simpburs eyes are meant to be shaped like a heart horizontally (hence why you can notice me drawing a heart next to him) but i made the edges a lot more sharper and i wanted him to have a more darker wrinkle undertone so i gave him darker eyebags— i wanted him to be able to capture a manic look of love, but at the same time look so cute while doing it

argburs eyes are more simplified and expressionless than the less and thats bc i actually struggled hard with thinking of an idea for him— it would be easier for me to give him eyes that make him look cold, but the thing about argbur is his duality; he can be cheerful and passionate, he can be cold and calm the next, so i really wanted to be flexible. i also wanted him to have like a look of a stranger that looks friendly but at the same time you think he's odd and probably dangerous for you to be around so i gave him eyes that would be easy to shape into a wider expression whenever he's acting cheerful, and decorate it with softer shapes/angles to give a friendly undertone— but he also can still have this look in his eye that makes it seem like he's looking past you, that makes it look like he knows more than you, and thats a bit shady to you

for ghostburs it's pretty easy! but i actually have two variations of his eyes the first one is the one i shown— i gave him droopy, ghost like eyes— and to highlight the tear, i put eyelashes around it and one eyelash on the top that points directly to it so its easier to trick your eyes into perceiving the tears first

this is the second variation! where the pupil/eye cries instead, so that i can have interesting stuff to play with, but at the same time ehhh it lacks the ghost factor so i prefer the first one more

baker!simon who’s known for the bit he’s got going on – something you wished your friends would’ve told you because the first time you walked into the niche bakery (at six am to boot) and saw simon, big and tall and inked and masked simon, you screamed bloody murder.

“jesus-!” he yelled back in surprise, almost dropping a tray of freshly baked shortbreads before whipping his head up to see what was going on only to feel like he’s been punched in the gut because there you stood by the entrance, bundled up with thick jackets like you’re preparing for winter even though fall was just settling in, your hair a haggard mess and your face gaunt from exhaustion, and looking like all parts of simon’s dream woman.

“um,” you stammered, staring at him with wide eyes and trembling hands, your heart hammering in your chest as you began to panic. “i, uh. i’m…?”

simon watched as you continued to stammer before finally taking pity on you. he placed the tray on the counter and turned to fully present himself to you, spreading his arms out in hopes that it would show you that he’s not dangerous. that you would see his flour-covered apron and see that all he’s got going on in life is baking, and then instantly be enamoured with him.

“you here for breakfast?” he asked, clearing his throat upon hearing the awkward croak of his voice. thank god for his mask because he was able to hide the flush of his cheeks, allowing him to continue to play it cool in front of you.

“yes?” you replied, still confused as to why the… baker? was wearing a homemade skull mask.

“sure,” he said and you watched as he wiped his hands on his apron. “come over here then. what’d you want to order?”

baker!simon who isn’t really a big sweets enthusiast but whose desserts are the best in the block. you asked him what made him pursue this career and you watched as he stilled, his face falling slack like he can see something you couldn’t – like he is reliving a memory – before shaking himself with a deep inhale and finally whispering, “for my brother.”

you did not probe any further, your heart heavy with guilt, but simon just turned to you with a small smile and asked, “wanna hear about ‘im?”

he gathered you in his arms as he recounted the few fond memories he has of his childhood, and you breathed him in, smelling the faint smell of macaroons and toasted butter on his skin.

baker!simon who begins dedicating his daily special treats to you. “for the apple of my eye,” when it’s apple fritters day. “for my beloved cheri,” on cherry pie day. “for my precious sugar,” on sugar cookies day.

baker!simon who proudly prances around in his frilly pink apron that has “husband material” embroidered on the chest. you gave it to him as a gag gift but simon loves it so much that he began to wear it to work, showing it off to his friends with a deep chuckle.

“my girl got it f’r me,” he says to johnny. “pretty, isn’t it?”

johnny nods amidst laughter, his body folded into himself as he clutches the counter for support.
