i know i transed my gender but i will always feel Kinship & Solidarity with autistic girls and women who can't or struggle to perform traditional feminity. makeup is a sensory nightmare and fashion is incomprehensible and that's just scratching the surface of what people expect of you

For us Black/POC readers, is it just me or does it annoy the hell out of you when you see something in a fic that doesn’t reach out to other races/ethnic backgrounds? To be specific, I’m talking about when the writer as well as the reader is clearly white/meant for white readers. This may be offensive to white writers but why say “your pink nipples, place skin”, etc. Plenty of people of color have spoken about this on this here app, but I felt I should add my two cents in. Like, I’m genuinely curious; is it that hard to just leave the reader’s appearance ambiguous so everyone can enjoy the story and envision themselves? Idk man, this conversation is like a repetitive music player or whatever it’s called. What do y’all think?

<button id="replaceButton">En Inclusif</button>

Whenever I come across people making posts about how they see Jinx, they always seem to be headcannoning them as agender and/or aroace (including me), and its awesome. As someone who is akin to that themselves and doesn't often see characters with the same identity, it makes me really happy.
So basically, shout out to all the awesome ppl who make jinx headcannons ily.

i noticed a file in the chromium style guides named `inclusive-code.md` or something similar that made me realise that a few patterns in systems and documentation are kind of outdated.
1. master & slave - often used to refer to a pair of devices or systems that perform asymetrically, for example, a peripheral (like an SD card) would be controlled by a "master" chip that controls all aspects of the "slave" peripheral. chromium suggests using "primary" and "secondary", and i actually tend to use primary & secondary because vulkan has gotten me to take a liking to it (primary & secondary command buffers), and it's ✨ future proof✨ (tertiary and even quaternary can be added if needed). but the terms are so often in use all over mechatronics and embedded development, and in some cases it might actually make more sense.
2. blacklist & whitelist - a blacklist is a list of items to be excluded from something, a whitelist is a list of items that can only be allowed. this is 'controversial' because of the connotations these terms put onto white and black. chromium suggests "deny list" and "allow list" and tbh i like that just because its simpler and clearer.
3. pronoun usage. it is common in documentation to refer to a user as "he/she" or (esp. in older docs) just "he". like: "if a user wants to change directories, he may use the `cd` command". these are more obvious semantics. chromium suggests "they" in place, or simply the name or role (admin, user) to "avoid mental pointer-dereferencing" (which is a line in the style guide and i love it).
ofc it isnt like the worst thing in the world for these writing styles to exist, but this kind of semantic evolution is really cool to me

Ahem. So, to my mutuals, followers and people who liked my posts, I just wanna say thank you for the feedback and likes. What I wanna do now is ask something to a certain group of people. This will probably not be a good idea but imma go for it:
Question: For some of my white writers on this app, genuinely, why do a lot of you guys make it clear to us non-white readers that your reader is hinted to be white? Not everyone reading your stories are white. The descriptions such as, long hair, messy bun. pale skin, freaking PINK NIPPLES, etc. Isn’t a reader insert supposed to be for ALL to enjoy, unless you warn your audience that you are targeting a certain audience? I’m sorry if I’m being aggressive but this continuous thing with reader have subtle and NOT-so-subtle hints that the reader has white traits is oh so tiring. It is hard being a person of color to come across a bunch of fics that cater to white readers. I am not telling yall how to write, which it may seem like it, but it is more so of me sharing how weird that is. And I am not the only one who feels this way. We just want a change, a change where the reader is for all to envision themselves without being hammered in the face with white vision. Another example is saying, “he runs his fingers through your hair” is honestly annoying. Idk man, ion know what else to say at this moment. But please, whoever feels the same as me, please share your thoughts. Have a lovely day.
Side note: feel free to share your thoughts (like reblogs) from my post and piggyback off of what I said. I could use support.

not to be misandrist on main but i genuinely forget that male v/hawke/shepard/eivor/whatever kassandras brother is named etc exist. im sorry but to me they will always be women* mainly bcs i honestly think the voice actors for the women versions r a million times better than the males but also why would u willingly play a man. this is half a joke, ive played male hawkes+shepards before but i genuinely sideye ppl so hard when they refer to x character as he instead of she or they ngl
