#intro tech skills

So I took a break from using google products for a while. Last year I gave in and started using Jamboard. Fortunately since then I've picked up enough html to think I can clap together a tackboard for myself with plenty of space to make it pretty later. If I want to access it from just one computer, I can leave it in the file systems and run those internal files on a browsing program (life firefox) like any other .html website. If I want to be able to access it anywhere I'm logged into my home wifi, I can host it from a turned on device (a computer or a phone), or even maybe on a hard drive plugged into the router (some mid grade to fancy ones have usb ports for simple storage) It will be kind of clunky, but a fun project to improve the look and input options over time, and as long as I back up the files periodically, I don't have to worry about people out of town adding software migrations to my life. I think it's a reasonable goal to have more direct control over more of the computing tools I use, insofar as I can. I think a lot of accessibility has been taken off the internet and out of our cultural communication about how the 'net works... and with a little curiosity and flexibility, users can add that back for themselves perhaps.

botw2 (totk rewritten) ganondorf design (+some story) post

Mummy version what link and zelda discover beneath hyrule castle when investigating the failing shiekah tech and discover a cave system that leads to several abandoned shiekah research/security sites and ultimately lead to a cave in which ganondorf is still sealed away by the ancient queen of hyrule; after the initial sealing (or capture rather) her descendant and the shiekah, who were rapidly advancing their tech at the time, build around it, both to keep the seal secret and safe (as the actual sealing was a short but intense battle between him and the queen that wasnt intended to happen like that, in the middle of the throne room that got broken and both ended up in the underground, the only survivor being the young princess of hyrule from that time- since all involved parties except for her died little was known as to how and why but the stories were spun regardless and ultimately the final narrative was in hyrules favor) and to use ganondorfs immense spiritual power and magical skill- eventually becoming one of the main power sources for all shiekah technology (ouch)

the chamber is all shiekah built (post sealing) and similarly secured like the monks in shrines (though visibly decaying and failing)- once disturbed the remainder of the ancient queen fused into zeldas hand (with seemingly no effect but temporary pain, perhaps she will hear voices from the past telling her not to explore any further .. still working on that) ganondorfs body falls to the ground but then springs back to life, somewhat clumsily but fiercly attacking zelda and link, the shock from being in this horrendous condition between life and death for thousands and thousands of years and suddendly being thrust back into his decayed and used up body still fresh

the mastersword is broken and links arm destroyed, both link and zelda start to flee from the crumbling cave, zelda dragging link behind her in panic (and as he is hurt)- after which link gets his shiekah tech arm (and the arm stays gone) and the world changes

mid game fight- this game is not as free in progression as botw, you can do alot when you want but some things will remain locked, the mid game fight can only happen once the 4 main regions problems have been dealt with (very different to canon totk, but that is for a different post) and the castle, which fell into the underground shortly after the intro, is made accessible (specific way how still in work) the interior is both broken castle, rooms previously blocked, and shiekah tech- since beneath the castle was a whole, giant array of tech made to secure the castle, including reserves of ancient energy specifically for the royal family and the entire mechanism behind the rising pillars filled with guardians-

at the start of the dungeon link is grabbed by malice/miasma hands and dragged into the castle, seperated from zelda and the mechanics she introduced (crafting/reparing weapons and more), theres no way out, teleports are blocked; after getting further in alone, zelda finds you again, and nothing seems out of the ordinary (unless you have a keen eye, she only uses her left arm and would walk past things she usually wouldnt) after a certain amount of progression, without warning, as soon as zelda is out of the cameras view she will attack you relentlessly, not speaking a word and with changed eye color- after fighting with her/beign chased into the main throne room, the real zelda breaks through a wall, her friends in tow (yunobo, teba+tulin, riju, sidon, which she went to to ask for help, explaining the time gap), and ganondorf drops the disguise, a fight with him (mummy version) ensues, though he is very much back to his senses

at the end of the fight he shows (or forces her to see) zelda his last memory from when he lived, the confrontation with the ancient queen to his sealing (since she doesnt know/is in denial of her families role in both all this and the sonaus (zonais) extinction (as well as the betrayal and persecution of the shiekah later on), and his beef is with her specifically, link is just her guard dog after all) (i wasnt sure to include a direct scene from the past, but this one scene is very self contained and gives alot of context while still letting most of the past be a mystery- as i want to keep it as feeling ... removed and unknown as much as possible from the world you know)

(after which he leaves the scene as zelda tries to understand what she just saw)

post revival Ganondorf (beginning of end fight cutscene and phase 1.) only appears at the end (excluding the possible cutscene in the mid game fight, which shows him in his time, alive, which is a different design than this that i will make for a cutscene/story post)

the end of the game is in/on the forgotten plateau (it ends were botw began :) ) perhaps it rose higher and revealed an entrance after more game progression (at least one more dungeon, master kogas, and the restorations of the master sword via deku tree dungeon and sword quest involving the dragons; how much of the past you cared to explore within caves, which ARE the underground- its in several bigger and smaller, harder to access caves, each being somewhat to very unique and reveal more context, is largely irrelevant, it mostly serves to give YOU more context and make you think)

the dungeon is within the plateau, once to the end there is a longer cutscene of zelda trying to talk with ganondorf, now in his, largely, restored form (largely as in, not exactly as he was in past, clothing difference etc), her having come to understand what her legacy is and wanting to take responsibility for it; he listens calmly and talks to her for a bit (but the tension is very high, he knows what threat he poses and his goals, zelda is visibly trying to keep it together) and for a bit it might look like she can avoid this conflict

but he makes it very clear then, that she cannot undo anything, there is no possible price she could pay, he has suffered at hyrules hands for generations, having seen the world that was his home grow into myth, see his own people forget him, and how the history was remembered, not as it was, but as they wanted it to; he is forever changed, ripped from his time and all he ever held dear (there are clues and a mention of him having had two daughters, a little boar figurine, carved from wood of trees now extinct, hangs from his belt even now)- he wasnt a perfect king, but well liked and kept his country to stay strong against hyrules schemes .. until he fell- he is not truly alive, he is in a strangers world and this world hates him, it is anger and hatred, rage against all that happend, guilt for having failed his own, feeling betrayed by them yet, even if not truly their fault as no one knew what really happened except him, but he was imprisoned, with no breath to speak nor air to scream

he does not care for this world and his only goals now are to disrupt as much as possible, be the unstoppable force that hyrules always been, be the monster they wanted him to be, do as he wants until someone stops him ...and kill zelda to end her rotten family- but even if she gave up her life willingly he wouldnt take it, she will have to fight and make her own hands dirty and she does not want to die.

your friends arrive, and the battle begins.

(rough examples of his weapons are further below; he fights with one arm only in phase 1. then reforms his missing arm with malice, borrowed from the boar appearance, though it is not usable enough to truly replace it, it acts more like beasts claw and to copy some of links abilities, like the hookshot)

Beast Ganon(dorf), normal appearance (phase 3)

at the end of phase 2 he knocks out your friends, changes into beast form and attacks you, zelda using her magic to shield both her and link so he cannot bite through, instead smashes them both through stone and dirt all the way to the surface of the plateau on which the fight continues, this time only link and zelda

(his movement isnt a senseless rage, but a graceful being, he moves and jumps, floats and swims through the air as the ground in an almost dragon like way, he still wields magic, not all malice, but lightning and perhaps even more too, it is still him, just a different form)

Beast Ganon(dorf) while charging magic (phase 3)

Ganondorf phase 2 + Ganondorf phase 4 (slightly out of order but the boar wouldnt fit on one picture with other forms)

at the end of phase 3 (beast) it seems like you have beaten him, he is down and zelda takes charge, ready to do as she did to the dark beast she faced before (dark beast ganon in botw) but as she raises her hand a sword slash cuts off half her right hand- he is not done yet and refuses to be dealt with like that again, not by her hand again-

the final phase is a mix of all, including his appearance, this is the final struggle, to give every last drop of strength, the hole in his chest is open, malice eyes staring from within, it keeps him alive yet still-

zelda is disabled for this fight, she has been taken to safety by your friends, this fight is all on link to finish; while this is his most desperate and vengeful form, he is not senseless either, he summons his sword to attack you with as he did in phase 2, then throws it at you, quickly conducting lighting to it and while you are busy dodging lunges like in beast form (to paint the picture a little), this fight is supposed to be truly challenging.

(not fully sure of the ending scene, but there is supposed to be a short view into a timeskip in which zelda also has half a prosthetic hand made from shiekah tech)

If you have access to a public or school library, check out their technical books and see what they have to offer. O'Reilly and No Starch Press are my favorite publishers for technical and cybersecurity books, but be on the lookout for study guides for the Security+ and other certifications - these will give you a good introduction to the basics. I wrote more about cybersecurity books in yesterday's masterpost.

To me one of the biggest pieces of evidence that Tech is alive and planned to come back in a future installment is that, were I to be trying to write a fake out death, I cannot think of anything else I could add short of literally showing him alive (at which point it's no longer a fake out.)

Give extensive development to his ability to rapidly think his way out of anything and stay calm in stressful situations? Check, we have Faster showing that he can make these plans in seconds while in the middle of driving and he actually says outright that the second one is a skill of his.

Give survival foreshadowing? Check, just check out the extremely blatant hold on him after Romar's "I'm a survivor" line. And again in Faster - it'd actually be an excellent place to put some foreshadowing of his possible death, have him win but in a way that causes a crash or something of that nature, making it so that his gamble worked but was a close call, rather than an easy survival for him. Instead we get others doubting Tech could survive but he not only does, but he does it easily. We have lines from Phee implying that there's more to come - her first line, better late than dead, is one that is an odd intro to her as a character but works perfectly if taken as foreshadowing for later. And her oddly specific 'don't go running off with any pirates or smugglers' in their last scene together is another one where it just feels primed for a comeback later on. His final conversation with Saw also is an interesting aspect here - Saw is the one that is leaning hard on 'sacrifice is necessary for the greater good' while Tech tells him to work smarter and take your enemy down from within. If you're going to have a character sacrifice himself, why put him at odds with the concept of sacrifice immediately before? There are just a lot of pieces that make the most sense if they're foreshadowing something to come with him.

Open plots that aren't yet resolved? Check on multiple angles. He has Phee of course - and they could have resolved that by either giving more closure in their last talk together or by having more of Phee in season 3, allowing her even one scene to talk with Omega about moving past something that she will never get closure on. This leaves their dynamic hanging wide open, but not in a way that uses the lack of closure for plot development. They also introduce a theme of culture and memory with him, which isn't allowed to go anywhere prior to him dropping into the mists and isn't developed in season 3 in his absence, where nothing is done in his memory and his goggles being placed in the Archium isn't even about remembering him it's about Omega not wanting to leave Pabu behind. AND, going back to Faster yet again, Cid drops that she owes him one, which hasn't come back. Cid is still out there, and that favor could still be called in if Tech comes back, otherwise it's an empty line that doesn't connect to anything. All of these were opened in season 2, so they're not just leftovers from changed plots.

Ambiguous method of death? VERY Check. Falls are one of the classic fakeout death methods because as long as we don't see the results anything could have happened between the moment we lose sight of Tech and when he would have impacted the ground. Did he manage to get on top of the rail car and use it to break his fall? Did he manage to find an alternate landing place and use wind resistance to angle himself towards a softer landing? Is the armor protecting his head and torso shock resistant enough to allow for survival? Could be any of those or more, we don't know because we don't see it. TBB also puts a lot of effort into making sure you know falls aren't that fatal. Here's a great post from @heyclickadee going into the WIDE variety of falls that would have logically been fatal but that are wriggled out of through the series. They could have given him some kind of injury that makes it less likely he'd survive, but nope despite being blown off the railing he's totally fine and able to maneuver out of it. He even flips into the skydiver's position before we lose track of him, which is the first thing you're supposed to do if you find yourself in freefall.

No body? VERY check. They picked a method of death that lets them not show a body, and then they go out of their way to make sure no one can look for a body. Omega's hurt so they can't go back and look for him. She passes out in front of a body but it's not his. Hemlock claims all he found is goggles in a moment where he has every reason to lie to them. They could have had Hemlock recover the body and show it under a sheet in his lab. Omega passes out in front of a body, that could easily have been made to be Tech to drive home that he's gone. There's a lot of options there! They took none of them.

Nobody ever gives him a funeral or has a mourning scene outside of the initial shock moment? Check. And, in fact, the only time he's even referred to as dead by anyone it comes from the mouth of Crosshair, the guy that's in this show primarily to be wrong about things. Every other time he's brought up, it's a moment of sadness and moving on. This is an easy fake out trope, because it allows the grief to linger without taking up a ton of screentime for something you're ultimately going to reverse. (See: Ahsoka in Rebels)

If I wanted to add to this, if I wanted to make it MORE clear that he was coming back without just saying so in words or literally showing him alive, I don't know what could be added. Front to back it's fully loaded with everything that goes into a fake death. And nothing that typically signals a real death. You can't rely on real life statistics for long falls because it's not real life, it's fiction. And by all fictional standards, Tech never died and it's just a matter of when and where they'll reveal him. (I'm still putting tentative money on it being sometime between the ending shot of the tree and the epilogue, to justify why they pulled his goggles out of the Archium rather than leaving them there as a memorial.)

Intro to thatoneguyyousawinthebackgroundofTF: ONE pt.4

For all the other intro's I started with the tech spec from their original generation one toy, unfortunately, Arcee didn't have a G1 toy. In fact, Arcee doesn't get a traditional transforming toy until 2014. To make up for this I'm going to include both her bio from the Transformers Universe (Marvel) and also her bio from Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye (Dreamwave, not to be confused w/ the IDW comic).

The following is from Transformers Universe:

Function: "Warrior"

Profile: "A sweet, kind, and loyal Autobot to her friends, Arcee is also a merciless, lethal warrior to her enemies. If one were to listen to the verbal pot-shots they take at each other, one would think that they were the bitterest of enemies. But catch one of the Autobots, or worse, Adecepticon. making a disparaging remark about Hot Rod in Arcee's presence and the offender will more often than not find his hydraulic hoses sliced to ribbons before he knows it".

Weakness: "Arcee's concern for Danny sometimes causes her to take excessive risks in order to protect him".

The following is from Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye, it's important to note that this came out in 2003 and is NOT a part of the Generation 1 cannon:

Bio: Arcee's different. In fact, other Autobots were at a loss to explain what exactly made Arcee so different until they turned to an old hand like me, who'd been off world before the wars. That's when I explained her resemblance to the females of other galactic species. Quick-witted and formidable in battle. Arcee's compassionate to her friends yet merciless to her foes. Her skill and ruthlessness in combat have made others wary, including Hot Rod. Still, the lad has developed a more-than-passing interest in Arcee, as has Springer. None of us have exactly figured out the reasons for all of this yet, but I seem to recall stories about there being more Transformers like her. Of course, that was crazy talk even when I was young".

Abilities: "Acree's an expert hand-to-hand warrior and sharpshooter. Her vehicle mode is equipped with several anti-personal weapons like shrapnel-launchers and tire spikes. In robot mode, she's got average strength, but she's fast.

Weaknesses: "Arcee doesn't have any physical weaknesses I've noticed".

Arcane s2 ep 1 thoughts:

- the intro is incredible, the absolute shift from s1, the use of lighting as the characters are obscured, blinded or framed by it, the way their clothes have been simplified and stripped back the absolute despair tearing through it chefs kiss beautiful

- MEL IS ALIVE!!!! The lack of her in the trailer had me worried

Parhelion Knight is the lone guardian of the ancient wishing star Parhelic Anima. A volatile, foul-mouthed spitfire, Stell isn’t exactly the most sociable puffball in the cosmos, quicker to resort to violence and insults over diplomacy. To be fair, when the extent of one’s social interactions for the past several centuries is speaking to a soulless AI, talking to oneself, and spewing death threats, it makes sense that their conversational ability vastly suffered. It certainly doesn’t help that they’re desperately pasting flex tape over their many, many complexes over their short stature and lack of wings. Projecting? Overcompensation? What’s that?

Case in point, surely someone, anyone else, could've been put in charge of designing the website for the conference. There were so many different agencies involved. But someone had put my name in the lottery and not told me. And there was not enough advance planning at this conference for things to be ready in time. The conference was starting soon and so many webpages are still broken.

Man, writing general intro stuff is poison to my brain. I feel like I have this one chance to sell the vibe of the game, and I can’t quite get it to feel right in about four paragraphs. I don’t really like either of them. The first is too conversational and I accidentally wrote it in second person. The other one is clinical and has no flavor.

You are a wizard with a day job. The world is mostly mundane. You go to work, you eat, you sleep. And that’s how most people around you live as well. But every so often, when the stars align, some odd shit happens and someone needs 2-4 wizards to come fix it.

Your wizard is a normal person. They have about as much magic skill as the average office worker has tech skill. It’s enough to get by and do their job, and if they were ambitious they should probably learn more, but they’re not experts.

You work along side orcs and dragonlings who are in about the same boat as you. They come in, sit at their desk for a few hours, use the company issued wand-o-sorting to file some documents so they look busy, and then they go home.

On your walk home, you pass by food carts wheeled by hulking stone constructs, willed to life by the mana stone in their chest. The cobblestone streets and old stone fortress walls around your neighborhood are looking rough these days, covered in graffiti. You swear you voted on some ordinance or another that was supposed to clean that up.

You get to your tower. Your apartment is on the fifth floor. If you got a unit in one of the new mage-bound buildings it would be cheaper, but you’d have to walk up 30 stories. Not worth it.

But it’s the weekend. Your crew is probably already waiting. The adventure boards have been busy lately. You decided on the old count with the vampire bat problem last night, hopefully the port stones will be loaded already so you can leave right away.

In Weekend Wizards you play as career wizards who have taken up adventuring on the weekends as a hobby. The world is a semi-modern fantasy where people commonly learn magic as a part of their careers. These work wizards might be trained in magic as it relates to their job, but few people ever pursue the practice far enough to be considered an Arch mage: a person who has a wholistic mastery of magic. They act as the bulk of the workforce; from doctors down to laborers, almost everyone is trained in at least some magic for their job. Jobs that use magic more in their day-to-day have greater mana reserves, but no job is innately better at magic. Waiters, truck drivers, office workers, ecologists are all wizards with their own expertise and abilities.

The world is a medieval fantasy that has progressed to the level of technology of early analogue computing. Through magic, tech wizards construct Ley networks and rudimentary logic systems out of enchantments. Orbs are user interfaces and runestones are payphones. Bustling towns are built inside of stone walled keeps and enchanted forests may be just a day trip for city-goers. All varieties of fantasy races coexist in these packed cities, each culture morphing with the advancing society. The first skyscrapers are being constructed, a new age wizard towers full of trained arcane workers.

On these magical networks, Adventure Boards have popped up: services that connect clients with adventuring mercenaries. Adventuring has become a growing hobby for bored work wizards. The Ley networks let them connect with clients quickly and the ABs supply waygates that get adventurers to and from their destinations quickly. Each play session is one weekend of adventuring and the next session has a week between where your character goes to work and lives their normal life.

so, question about the skills stats. i am assuming despite the jump start in a certain skill, we will have opportunities to foster the other skills. but i was just wondering, would the opportunities be fairly even or will certain origins just lean toward certain stats regardless?

Okay, this is why I took down the stats from the origin intro, because I wanted to figure out a way to make origin bonuses fair!! I might even get rid of that bonus completely if I can't find a way to do it that makes me satisfied. There'll still be the skill bonuses.

From what I've worked on so far, skills and stats are counted as different things in this game:

Skills are the things that are more external, where active effort was put into honing them. In the origins, that's tactics, tech, and firearms.

Stats are the things that were more passively gained. In the origins, that's charisma, strength, and agility.

Obviously you can actively practice your people skills, or lift weights, or you can slowly develop a tactical mind through paying attention, but for the sake of this game I've made a distinction between them.

Skills = Studied/trained

Stats = Improved through frequent use

Skills level up; Stats are a sliding scale. In the game this would look something like:

Skills:

Tactics: LEVEL 1

Tech: LEVEL 3 (proficient)

Firearms: LEVEL 5 (expert)

Stats:

Charisma: 35%

Strength: 10%

Agility: 75%

The way to level up skills will be to actively train at them with the cast during downtime.

The way to increase stats will be to keep choosing options that use them, same as how the personality stats will work (except there's no opposing stat on the other side like Cautious --- Reckless) .

Proficiency is unlocked at level 3 out of 5. It means you're good, but lack a certain flair that takes you to the next level. You start at level 3 in the skill that corresponds to your origin, and it's up to you if you want to improve even more or focus on gaining proficiency in another skill.

I don't want this game to be heavy on the stats. I don't like having to micromanage with games so I don't want that in my own. I just want enough to be fun and aid in roleplay!!

(Obviously the details here can change down the line as I work more on the game!)

Arcane Season 1 Act 1 Review

As Arcane season 2 is coming out, I would like to post my thoughts on the series here as I have no one else to talk with about it. So here Goes

Episode 1: Welcome to the Playground

As a first episode, upon first viewing this appears to be a normal start to a regular teen/ YA fantasy show. It's well-animated, well-voice-acted, with good action and characterization for these characters we are getting introduced to for the first time. The soundtrack is great as well. In terms of story, we are introduced to these stones that will play a big role in the future of the series, as well as the main villain by the end of the episode, providing an intriguing enough plot hook, if somewhat ordinary. For this episode, I would rate it a 7 or 8 out of 10, with the animation providing a big boost. If you're not a first-time viewer, however, details that you didn't notice the first time around will pop out to you, such as Powder's hallucinations already being present in the intro, as well as other foreshadowings to future episodes and story points. On a second watch through with the context of the series, I would say it is a straight 8/10.

Episode 2: Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved

The concept of Magic and what the stones are is made known to us in this episode, as well as introducing the other half of the cast that belongs to Piltover, with us spending a majority of the episode there, while still going back to the Undercity. We get more characterization for our "main" 4 kids, with Vi's boxing and Powder tech and Shooting skills getting further spotlight. For the villain, Silco we get 2 more scenes with him which are excellent, in my opinion. We also see Vander losing control of the undercity, showing us that people want change, as represented by Sevika. In terms of our topside characters, Mel, Jayce, and Viktor are great. I like Heimerdinger as well. The endings of the episode with the scene between Jayce and Viktor and the scene of Vi preparing to surrender are great scenes. Overall I would say this episode is an 8 or 9 out of 10.

Episode Three: The Base Violence Necessary for Change

A 10/10 Episode. The Jayce and Viktor storyline isn't as present but is well done. The meat of the episode is the Zaun Storyline, where things come to a head. Vander is taken by Silco, with Deckard killing all the enforcers except Marcus, and Vi sees it all. We see more signs of Powder's instability with her mental breakdown. And there is a conversation between Silco and Vander where we learn their backstory and relationship. But the most impactful part is the last 20 minutes or so, starting with the rescue attempt and ending with Vi being taken away. and Silco taking in Powder, creating Jinx. I can't describe the impact this episode had on me, but this is my favorite overall episode of the season, and the best episode of the show.

Overall: Act 1 gets a 9/10

The best characters in the Act are Vander and Silco.

Powder's and Vi's relationship as children is shown to us, allowing us to see where they will end up

The deaths of Clagger and Milo were impactful

Jayce and Viktor, though not present in a lot of Act 1, show the beginnings of compelling characters in this season at the very least.

The most consistent Act in terms of quality in my opinion.

Funny thing is, I never really thought of people like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates as these great Tech Heroes™ that techbros seem to see them as - with Gates I'll admit some grudging level of respect because he actually does know how to code, but Jobs to me was always mainly this business guy whose primary talent was in how to take credit for other people's work and this was still well before I found out about his treatment of Wozniak

To me, the people I looked up to in tech was always more people like John Carmack - those whose tech wizardry redefined people's perceptions of what computer hardware was capable of. My idea of what makes a tech genius isn't in Web Entrepreneurs or Silicon Valley Startups, but more like people who make 64K intros* or the like - those with an intimate knowledge of both hardware and software and the ability to take that knowledge and make them sing.

Thing is, programming isn't nearly as hard as most people think it is - if you have the ability to write words and numbers in english then congratulations, you also already have the ability to write a program. The thing that is difficult, that takes skill and experience and expertise and talent, is to learn how to think in terms of how a computer works and how that affects your code. It's stuff like understanding why a CASE statement can sometimes be much faster than using IF-THEN-ELSE, why it's much faster to bit shift integer values one step to the left or right than to multiply or divide them by 2, why it's faster to multiply a decimal number by 0.5 than it is to divide it by 2, and so on. That's the really difficult part, and where you see the difference between a program that does something in ten seconds and one that does the same thing in ten milliseconds.

*a 64K intro is a concept from the demoscene, which itself is basically this subculture within computing which is kind of gaming-adjacent but much more focused on digital art and music and programming; a "demo" in this context is basically a program (or a part of a program) that presents you with images and animations and music and such, and at least in part originate from the kind of "crack intros" that would play before a pirated game whose copy protection had been removed (ie. "cracked") The 64K intro is basically a kind of challenge mode where the the entire demo must also be provided as a single executable no larger than 64 kilobytes in size - typically achieved through significant use of both compression and procedural generation. As an example, here's one such demo from 2006 called "Chaos Theory" - and yes, all that is contained within a single .exe of only 65536 bytes.

Why did they even rewrite Lady to be like that?? So crass and cursing every 5 seconds, so "Badass Girlboss BadBitch" when in the OG game like...

She was already a strong character. Both emotionally and physically. Her not beating Dante wasn't a big deal, because in literally her introduction we are shown that she is a BADASS demon killer who only uses GUNS and her own SKILLS. Like, even rewatching her intro because it's been a while, I said aloud 'Holy shit'. She doesn't need a super suit and another character to say 'This is Lady! She's the strongest'. Like... Okay??? That's a bad intro. Stop telling us. Show us. DMC3 Did that. They SHOWED us. They didn't need to pause and look at the viewer and go 'You guys see how strong she is?' we could SEE it. I was never angry that she couldn't beat Dante. I was fine with it. Dante and Vergil are known to be powerful as hell(no pun intended lol). I loved her because she still TRIED to fight him. She still had a fire in her heart. She traversed the Temen-Na-Gru(sp?) all by herself, not caring WHAT was inside. She had a mission, and she was going to complete it. Even knowing she can't defeat the brothers, she isn't afraid to shoot a bullet between them. Like- that's COURAGE dude!!

She didn't need to be a cursing cop with a bunch of tech to be 'cool' or 'sexy' or whatever. She already was. and this is all coming from a big feminist btw

I feel like DMCNetflix Lady is what men THINK women THINK strong women should be. And it's not. They completely stripped away major parts of Lady's character... This is something that happened to Jill Velentine in the RE3 Remake as well. They took away her kindness and made her just like... A rude bitch :/. This also equates Kindness to Weakness in a way that I really hate (like... people think it 'feminizes' the emotion. And everything soft and 'girly' is weak by default, right guys? /sarcasm)

I hated seeing her beat up Dante and win super easily. I hated seeing that she needed gear to fight tbh,,, She can keep up with Dante, we're shown that in the games, but she can't beat him. Like...
