ok I’ve been sucked into The Ultimatum: Queer Love on Netflix and just…

Steve is in a relationship where he clearly wants more than the other person. He and his partner have been together for three years and it’s reached the point where Steve has told him, “marry me or I have to go.” The dude is some kind of wannabe Instagram model, so he jumps at the chance to do reality tv.

Eddie’s on the opposite end of the negotiations. He loves his partner, but he’s not sure he really believes in the institution of marriage.

Both couples decide to try this new reality show.

Steve and Eddie clearly catch each other’s eyes on the first night, the camera catching both of them staring at each other between all the couples introducing themselves. They don’t get much time to speak that first night, but that’s okay. They’ve got plenty of time to say hi during the speed dating round.

Except that once they meet, they don’t want to talk to anyone else. Eddie is practically dragged away by producers so that he’s forced to talk to the others. The camera doesn’t miss the longing looks they send each other, though.

After that second episode, they’re immediately fan favorites. The chemistry between them is palpable even through the screen. Everyone’s just waiting for them to choose each other at the selection dinner.

And of course they do, as both their partners sit next to them rolling their eyes. They go to bed the first night of their trial marriage wrapped around each other, whispering and giggling. The mics can’t exactly pick up what they’re saying, but the cameras catch their smiles and the way their fingers intertwine between them above the comforter.

The audience loves watching the two of them fall in love over the next three weeks of their trial marriage. They’re sweet to each other, clearly thinking about each other’s needs and checking in when things seem hard. They meet each other’s friends. When Eddie meets Steve’s best friend, Robin, it’s like the three of them have known each other for years. When Eddie sneaks off to the bathroom, leaving Steve and Robin alone at the restaurant table, Robin takes the moment alone to give Steve her stamp of approval on Eddie.

After the three weeks are up, they’re supposed to go into a trial marriage with their original partners. The audience doesn’t see this, but Eddie and Steve try to refuse. They know what they want and it’s each other. They’ve made their decisions. But the producers remind them that they’ve signed contracts and they have to see the process through to the end.

They’re both uninterested in their partners. It’s clear that neither original relationship was the right fit now. It’s clear even to their original partners. They’re not even really doing a trial marriage; they’re all just roommates trying to make it through to the end.

When Steve and Eddie are finally reunited at the final selection, to no one’s surprise, they choose each other. There’s no hesitation on either side. They want each other. They’re both sure.

They’re married within the year and their wedding is filmed by Netflix. For the next season of the show, Steve and Eddie host. Ten seasons in, they’re still as in love as ever and, unfortunately for Netflix, the show’s one and only success story.

Was talking with @anniilaugh about would be the funniest/stupidest reality tv shows for Sanji and Zoro to meet at so here’s a few ideas and please feel free to add your own lol

The Bachelor: hopeless romantic Sanji as the bachelor being courted by Gin, Pudding, Ace, Pedro, Violet, Katakuri, etc (all the other ships) as well as a debt-ridden Zoro who was pushed by Nami to sign up to try and get prize money (in this instance you can get a lot of prize money if you’re chosen by the bachelor and leave, or you split with him if you stay or something?) the ANGST as Zoro gets a very bad first impression but fights to stay on (for the money) and tries to charm his way into Sanji’s heart, only to start falling for him too . Sanji would struggle SO much deciding who to give roses to lol. pudding would be sweet and kind to him but calculating/ manufacturing drama behind the scenes.

Survivor- now you’ll tell me how dare you put Sanji on an island to starve again and to that I say- this time he’s prepared and he’ll forage and fish and is doing it to prove to himself he can/that he’s over his trauma . He and Zoro are on opposing teams at first and then get to know each other at reunification

A baking/cooking show for non-professionals, with Zoro as a contestant and Sanji as a chef judge . Alternatively, Sanji as a contestant on a pro one and Zoro is a celebrity guest with the difficult palate they need to please

Fort Boyard: Sanji freaking out with the bugs and spiders, the team losing their mind because all the instructions they scream at Zoro through the door are being carried out in the exact opposite manner, both parties impressing the other with their feats. Fort boyard is a show for half-famous people so it could be fun if they’d heard of each other before/are each others celebrity crushes

Mister Universe- mister France and mister Japan meet and fall in love Ehehe

The bi life/any dating by the pool type dating show: Sanji is a hopeless romantic and Zoro got signed up by Perona. They butt heads at first

The Amazing Race: established relationship ZSZ , fan favourites, always arguing and getting lost because of Zoro, the underdogs

Love on the spectrum: Zoro, swords and sword fighting special interest guy meets Sanji, romcoms and cooking special interests guy

Too hot to handle : Demi!Zoro signs up thinking it’ll be a piece of cake since there’s no way he’ll develop feelings for superficial people like the ones that usually come into that show, he’ll manage to stay celibate no problem and get away with the prize money easy . Enter Sanji, and all his plans go to hell

Queer eye: zoro is the « hero of the week » and Sanji is the food and wine expert, need i say more?

L’amour est dans le pré(love is in the field)/Farmer wants a wife husband: farmer zoro and city boy Sanji

Naked attraction: this would actually be super hilarious if for some reason one of them didn’t fully read or understand the concept of the show being full frontal nudity as the basis for selecting a partner

Does the world need TWO prongsfoot reality TV AUs? (And does it need *me* who has never watched these shows to be writing them?)

YES, according to a poll of one person, and that one person is me.

I can’t believe tumblr wasn’t all over bbuk 2023 the whole love triangle thing screams tumblr: Jordan liking Matty but Henry being smitten with Jordan, Matty not being interested but still always trying to talk to Jordan but Jordan setting boundaries cause he doesn’t wanna perpetuate the love triangle plot line.

Jordan proceeding to ignore both Matty and Henry after hearing them talk about him leading to Henry crying in the diary room.

Jordan and Henry making up again and being good friends then plot twist Jordan gets fake evicted (whilst he’s fake evicted Henry gave him his necklace which he still hasn’t taken off) then saved and put back in the house, Jordan and Henry reunite and spend the next days snogging all over the place whilst maintaining the narrative that it’s platonic.

Then Jordan wins, they all leave the house and and do a bunch of press and interviews with Jordan and henry maintaining their relationship.

And then Jordan posted m/m romance fiction on his instagram story for funsies. That’s not relevant to the triangle it’s just funny 😭

That’s not even all of it, I wanna study Jordan’s brain in a lab, the whole thing screams ao3 reality tv au and I love it

Chapter 13. Kindness is key.

In the following two hours or so, his attention keeps being snatched by Kate’s expressions, little scoffs, gasps, eyerolls, and tilts of her head. Which means that for those two hours, Anthony has held himself back from trying to read along over her shoulder. Stopping himself from asking her what made her react that way. Resisting the urge to taunt her book choice, despite her lecture on picking up the most popular young adult book. In an attempt to distract himself, Anthony had even purchased an internet connection in order to read his emails or some documents. It was futile. In the reflection of his laptop screen, he could see even more of Kate’s responses. He felt more and more restless the longer he tried to hold himself back from asking her, or observing her openly. This was pathetic. He was curious about her, sure. But his curiosity was now intensified due to their close proximity, being seated next to each other on a budget airline.

Interviewer: *amused snort* Okay, how about you introduce yourself, as one of the main players in this game.

Interviewer: Oh? You’re willing to be called the bride here?

Wei Wuxian: Sure am. This- *picks up a small child from the ground, placing him in his lap* is my radish. We are going to cook him for dinner.

Interviewer: You sure are different than the Lans you’re marrying into.

Wei Wuxian: I am, I know. I guess that’s why they agreed to it all.

Lan Wangji: Shufu thought it was easier than hiring cameramen for his video scrapbooks. More regulated about what they can film.

Random question: would you ever write a Bachelor/ette AU, even as a joke? It'd be funny to see Aang tripping all over himself to "woo" Bachelorette Katara and somehow not comprehending that the whole point of the show is multiple guys trying to date her and getting all pissy any time Zuko or anyone else gets a one-on-one date or she basically shows any attention to anyone else, and the show producers have to be like "dude calm down..."

This can be a prompt if you're taking them, but if not don't worry, I just randomly had the thought and I was like "you know who would probably have a field day with this? Badger mole"

I actually have toyed with the idea of this, but I don't really know enough about the franchise to feel comfortable writing that fic, and I'm not super interested in watching it to find out. The idea I had might not make it necessary for me to know that much, but it also might not be the story you're looking for. So, with that said, I release this idea to the interwebs. Zutara stans, if you have any ideas for this prompt, please write and post! An idea I may actually go with is a Worst Cooks in America AU. I already have a couple of confessional booth scenes jotted down somewhere, so we'll see where it goes.
