These Hands
Gale x gn!reader, Gale x gn!Tav
Content/Tags: Soft, slow, NSFW, service top Tav/reader, oral, penetration, short, one-shot
Context: Between the ending of Act 2 and the beginning of Act 3, on the road to Baldur's Gate. Light spoilers for the end of Act 2, Gales overall story and a non-spoilery reference to the Act 2 romance scene.
Word count: 2.3k
“You should be with me in this… Let me-“ With one last kiss to his palm, you bring his hand to your chest, resting just over your heart. “I’m already here with you.” Your hips still with your next words, “I love you. Let me show you.”
Fic List AO3
After the battle with Ketheric Thorm the group has finally made its way on the road to Baldur’s Gate. The days have been long, and with many still recovering from the battle, everyone has decided to take a well-earned day of rest before continuing the last leg of the journey to the city.
Gale had unsurprisingly and generously produced a cozy space for you both to laze the day away in. His space is now closer to a library than a tent, with bookshelves lining a spun illusion of a tower room, plush carpets laid out on every inch of the floor, and a quiet fire burning in a hearth on one wall.
You grinned at him when first stepping inside, “Your home? In Waterdeep?” You teased him.
“I didn’t show you before, so now felt as good a time as any. Nothing in all the realms is more relaxing than my library,” he said with a decidedly pretentious tone.
With a knowing grin, you held up your hands in acquiescence and headed for the pile of pillows tucked between two of the bookshelves. Who were you to argue with a wizard about his tower?
Now, you’ve stirred from a long nap nestled into Gale’s side on the pillows as he reads a large tome picked up from somewhere on the journey. Probably the Sharran temple.
“Mmm… this was a great idea, I must admit.” You mumble into his shoulder as you wake.
Gale winds his arm around your hip, tucking you even closer. “That implies you had doubts about our afternoon of languor, and I must say I’m a bit offended. I have great ideas. Particularly when it comes to you.”
You let out a groggy snort as you stretch your free arm across his chest, continuing your ascent back to the waking world.
He turns his head away from his book to nuzzle your hair, “Go back to sleep,” he mumbles into your scalp. “You took some hard hits during the battle with Thorm. Or are you hungry? I can whip up the stew you like. Or could I interest you in a book from my vast collection? I have one in mind I think you’ll find fascinating. Or-“
You cut him off when you start quietly chuckling into his shoulder. This man nearly met his own end and yet he seeks to serve you.
“I’ll advise you it is unwise to laugh at a man’s stew.” He says with a grin.
You lift your head to meet his gaze, a soft smile on your lips, and wiggle out of his hold to straddle his middle. You gently remove that hefty tome of his and set it aside. Your hand shifts up his chest to lightly, absently trace the lines of his orb sigil along his neck.
“I only realized that I’d like to do something for you,” you say softly.
Gale’s grin falters momentarily, “I could not ask more of you, who have already given me everything.”
Your heart soars at his words, but you know Gale. You know just how deserving he is of everything you have to offer, yet he would not ask for it. He would not ask for anything for fear of not being worthy of it, despite all you’ve shared together. He must be shown how deserving he is, you decide. Slowly, perhaps he will come to see that he can receive the same love and care that he graces you with.
His hands reach for you after you’ve paused too long in your contemplating, but you catch his wrists. Closing your eyes, you plant a soft kiss at his right wrist, listening to his small, somewhat awed sigh at the touch. Your plan takes form in your mind, and you drop his left hand to begin work on his right. Beginning at his wrist, your thumbs move in small circles, massaging the muscle and small joints. As you move up toward to his elbow and back down to the wrist, squeezing lightly to continue massaging, Gale lets out another sigh. Your lips twitch at his easily coaxed reactions. He clearly enjoys this attention - why not let himself ask for more? You move to his hand, methodically rubbing down the length of each finger. You get a little lost in your task, enjoying the feel of his skin as you finish with the right and move to the left. Gale’s life as a prodigy shows in his hands. Not soft, as one might imagine for a wizard, but slightly rough and dry from the constant turning of pages, of wielding a staff, of pulling from the Weave. These hands have worshiped your skin, have clinched victories, have created wonders. They are precious. Glancing up at him, he has a bemused expression but attempts to hide it with that ever-present grin. You bring both hands up to your lips to kiss his knuckles. A few small scars decorate the tops of his hands, and you take a moment to give each one their own attentions.
“Hmm…” you sigh with your lips brushing over his fingers. “These hands have done so much.”
“These hands can do more,” he says with a lift of his brows.
You chuckle, giving an index finger a little nip. “Oh yes, I’m acquainted with their skills.” You eye him mischievously, licking the tip of that same finger with your tongue. A tease. “I would know what these hands desire.”
“They want for nothing where you are concerned. How can they grant your desires? Now, there is the better question.” He replies.
Not good enough. You hold his gaze again, trying to let him see your openness, your earnestness to give him something of yourself that he deserves. Something he didn’t have to earn by being anything other than himself. You slide your tongue around that finger, bringing it into your mouth, sucking lightly from knuckle to tip.
“Nothing?” You whisper, “Nothing at all?”
His eyes are locked with yours, and you sense him tense beneath you slightly. The jovial mask of Gale of Waterdeep slips a little; in his eyes you see that yearning you suspected was there all along. They search your face, looking for deception, for conditional affection, perhaps even outright lies. But they will find none, and you will prove it to him over and over and over again. You press and encouraging kiss to his palms, catching the movement of his throat as he swallows nervously.
“You.” He says lowly. “Always you.”
Reverently placing his hands down, you lean in, taking his face between your palms. “You have me. Wholly.” You breathe onto his lips. The kiss is a brush of skin at first, then confident as he attempts to take the lead, dancing that talented tongue with yours to drive you mad. You nip at his lower lip to take back control, slowing the pace. Softly sucking on his lip as you pull back, you give him your eyes full of that openness to reassure him, as your hands move lower.
Slowly you release the buckle of his tunic, pushing the fabric up over his torso, planting treasuring kisses along his chest as you head down to his trousers. His hands make a gentle protest in your hair, but you place them back at his sides, a quiet question in your eyes as you continue. You can see the uncertainty in his gaze, the hesitation to bask in your attention, and the mix of excitement and curiosity for what you will do next. Which will win out?
He gives a soft, tentative smile as your signal to continue. You unfasten the ties for his trousers with an easy smile, tugging them down just enough, and do the same for his underwear. The moment is too precious to interrupt with disrobing completely. You are singularly focused on showing this man, in some small way, just how much you care for him.
His cock bobs, half-hard, as you reveal it. You take him in hand, pausing again with that question in your eyes as you bend down. His chest rises and falls in anticipation as he gives you a slight nod, reaching out a hand to thread through your hair loosely. Starting at the base, you give him a long, thorough lick, keeping his gaze all the while. The throaty noise Gale releases in response is delicious in your ears – you want more. His cock stiffens fully in your hand now, and you put your lips around the tip, circling and sucking. The hand in your hair twitches. More. You hear a hiss as you swallow him fully, pulling back up to flick your tongue at the sensitive underside of his head, then pushing back down, sucking hard this time. That hiss turns into a huff as your pace quickens, squeezing the base of him with your fingers. More. You want even more. Even though this is about Gale, you might be a little selfish. You want to see the faces he’s making, how his chest is heaving, how his arms are flexing to restrain himself, the shape his mouth makes with each sound. With a few last licks and sucks, you pull off, too eager to make those visions a reality. You sit up and lick your lips, watching his face as he pants and reaches for you.
You shake your head, backing off to impatiently remove your underthings. Crawling back to straddle him, you take that hand that reached out up to your mouth to kiss his wrist. You position yourself and begin to sink down slowly, almost teasingly onto his cock. His breath hitches with each rise and fall of your hips as you take him inside you. This - this is what you wanted. His rapturous expression as he fits inside you, as you squeeze him, as you bite the meat of his thumb in your own ecstasy. He is yours, and you will worship him as he deserves. Fully seated, you begin to slowly rock your hips. This isn’t a race, isn’t lewd, isn’t about your pleasure. It is intimate, and full of your will to prove him worthy of you, worthy of his own life. You kiss each knuckle of his fingers as you continue that slow, sensual rocking. His eyes are heavy-lidded, jaw slack, chest rising and falling with his panting breath as he takes in the sight of you. You are both mostly clothed, and yet it is somehow all the more passionate for it.
“I…”, he breathes, then clears his throat nervously. “I won’t last much longer with you like this.”
“Then let go,” you say softly. “This isn’t about me.”
His expression remains conflicted, flitting between pleasure and confusion of your focused attention. “You should be with me in this… Let me-“
With one last kiss to his palm, you bring his hand to your chest, resting just over your heart. “I’m already here with you.” Your hips still with your next words, “I love you. Let me show you.”
His breath shudders as your hips restart their languid rhythm. Your hand rests over his on your chest, his other hand grasping your hip as you rock, lift up slightly, and sink back down into another rocking motion. All slow, liquid movements. Your gazes are locked, your chests lifting with the same breaths, your mouths softly open with the same tender sounds of desire. The hand at your hip squeezes, and you feel his hips start to meet yours in kind. A long groan escapes him as he quickly thrusts up into you.
“Yes,” you breathe. You lean forward as his eyes fall shut, taking in his face as he comes. His cheeks flush, his brows furrow, his breath rushes out in quick pants; then all slows and relaxes into bliss. Your rhythm doesn’t stop, riding him through the high and leading him back down again. The light sheen of sweat on his brow earns a kiss from you, and you rest your head there, patiently waiting for him to return to you. His breath slows, and his eyes blink open sluggishly. That soft, wicked grin of his returns, but you notice the lingering astonishment behind his eyes, as if he still can’t quite believe you’re real despite everything.
“For once I think I’ve rendered you speechless.”
A light chuckle escapes him as he catches his breath, “Very nearly.” He swallows, “That was…”
You interrupt his search for words with a quiet kiss. You’d rather leave the moment as it is. It needs no description, only the understanding that you did it for him because you love him. You pull away with a tender caress of his cheek, sitting back and pulling his tunic back down, his trousers back up as you lift off of him. You sense him watching you, still likely contemplating if you are amongst the illusions of this room. Quietly you re-dress in your underthings and bestow more kisses on his hands as you rejoin him among the pillows on your knees. “I recall mention of stew, but what about a cup of tea first?”
“That sounds lovely.” He says with a smile. Before he can even twitch a muscle, you’ve lifted up again and are strolling toward the very real small table near the hearth housing a teapot with ready-made tea the Wizard of Waterdeep keeps magically warmed with an environmental spell. In a few moments, you’re striding back with two cups, warmed to the perfect temperature and ready to sip. You place Gale’s cup atop the tome he was perusing earlier, earning you a slightly scandalized look as he swipes the cup up, taking a sip. You chuckle to yourself as you re-take your place at his side on the pillows. As he sets his cup down – not on a book this time – you snatch his hands again.
Placing one at your cheek and one to your lips you whisper, “I can’t get enough of these hands.”

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it.

My Analysis of The Soul Gem Placements in PMMM
Spoilers for all of the main PMMM series as well as vague spoilers for Rebellion.
In Madoka Magica, soul gems are a physical manifestation of the user's wish and a way to contain their soul to protect it from the dangers of the mortal world. Let's look into why each girls' soul gem is where they are!
Tumblr media
MADOKA KANAME
Madoka Kaname has her soul gem placed on her chest, right over where her heart would be. I believe this is due to the nature of her wish, which varies in different timelines but always comes from the heart and with pure intent. Madoka's wish in the first timeline is implied to have been to save the life of a cat. This wish is heartfelt and genuine. Her final wish, while on a much grander scale, is to save the world from witches, a wish made out of live for the world and the people in it. This is why her soul gem is placed over her heart.
TL;DR: Madoka's soul gem is over her heart because her wish is "heartfelt".
Tumblr media
SAYAKA MIKI
Sayaka Miki has her soul gem places on her stomach, which could be interpreted in multiple ways. The interpretation I shall be going with for this post is that it represents the nature of her wish. Her wish is metaphorically gluttonous, her being a glutton for Kyousuke's attention. This is represented literally by her soul gem being on her stomach, the body part that is must associated with hunger and consumption.
TL;DR: Sayaka is "hungry" for Kyousuke's love and attention, shown in her wish, which is why her soul gem is on her stomach.
Tumblr media
MAMI TOMOE
Mami Tomoe has her soulgem placed on the left (from her POV) side of her head. I believe this is because her wish, which was to save herself from a near fatal car accident, was made purely logically. This would be representative of the brain, which is what Mami's soul gem is placed over. The reason I mention it being on the left side is because people speculate the left side of the brain to be the logical and calculating part, which would even more so contribute to this idea.
TL;DR: Mami's soul gem is on her head because or was made logically with her brain.
Tumblr media
KYOKO SAKURA
Kyoko Sakura has a similar soul gem placement to Madoka. It is on her chest, representing another heartfelt wish. Kyoko's wish to save her father's church, while incredibly naive, is indicative of a pure hearted desire to help and be of use.
TL;DR: Kyoko's soul gem is on her chest because her wish came from the heart.
Tumblr media
HOMURA AKEMI
Homura Akemi has her soul gem placed on her hand. This, I believe, is meant to represent how her wish was made to hold onto someone, that someone being Madoka. Homura wishing to go back to when she first met Madoka is a wish entirely centered around her love of Madoka and Madoka as a person. In Rebellion, I feel this placement takes on a more sinister meaning, as it is to control Madoka. This is represented by her hand, something that could be used to manipulate an object to her will.
TL;DR: Homura's soul gem is on her hand because her wish was made to hold onto Madoka.

That's all! I just felt like sharing this! I hope people agree!

i love kimcom so much.. i love them so much..
theyre so..!! honestly if i think about them too much i'll cry.. and I'm rereading a few bits of dark castle to compare the novel and the webtoon and gosh, sleepyc and team's art really allows kimcoms interactions to feel more alive and goofy, silly even,,
epilogue spoilers ahead near the end
and novel's narration are like the gaps to fill in, both sides elevate the story,, i sound like a food critic but like. oh my goodness you read the part where kdj reunites with sys in dark castle after his revival and youre so taken by how sweet and cute it is. and then you read novel and..!!
I wouldn't have been able to run straight here if it wasn't for this feeling. I saw Shin Yoosung crying and thought that parents probably felt like this.
GOODBYEEEE I AM SO DEADDDD LIKE OH MY GOD YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME???
and webtoon chooses to let kdj maintain the same composure he had when he talked to jihye after saving her just moments prior,, and it works because now i read his inner thoughts in novel and I FEEL SO INSANE?!?!?! YOU BITCHHH SAY IT SAY YOU MISS HER?? no wait .. im getting off topic. this is becoming a kdj sys ramble
Honestly even though i call them found family I don't really classify them as a family either, they feel more like a home? at least at the first half of the story.. In an apocalypse where everything feels uncertain and you've lost all your close friends, you'd end up wandering aimlessly, so sticking to a group is moreso a temporary means of survival than friendship of any sort. It's also why kdj is so essential to kimcom as their glue, as the person who gathered them together, he provided them with that temporary party. and having that 'constant' you can return and realign to in that setting is so.. augh...
not to mention that three of the kimcom members are kids and kdj is their form of stability. lgy and sys hug him whenever they see him because he's the first adult that had ever shown them care. jihye is probably shaken from the first scenario but while she clings to yjh and admires him as her master, he probably doesnt do enough to reciprocate her respect or communicate as enthusiastically. now that i think about it, jihye feels kind of lonely, not young enough to get along with the kids particularly closely and not old enough to be buddies with the adults. does she make up for it by being talkative?)
And at this point in the story its evident that theyre not even that close !! singshong's writing style isnt one that elaborates on emotions and descriptive fluff to begin with, but sys is stated to not be so fond of jihye in ch162 because jihye was rude to kdj, they still feel like theyre in their own cliques. sys and lgy stick together as kids of similar ages, jhw and lhs get along normally, hsy is. hsy. lhs for one narrates kimcom as his 'companions' quite early on, but i'm unsure whether that choice is becuase thats just a suitable word for people closer than 'allies' but not close enough to be 'friends'. ultimately its just a buncha people who are trying to survive, and care about the guy that brought them tgt. it doesnt really feel like anything more than that.
and then as you're caught up in kdj's shenanigans, small snippets pass by and they feel a bit warmer yk. like sys and lgy having a coin flip whenever they're uneasy. (sys states that lgy has "done this before", like he's the one that has suggested the past coin flip(s). it feels like its implying that hes initiated this game system just to cheer up sys because shes a lot more transparent about feeling sad that kdj isnt there.) sooyoung of all people, willing to get an outer god contract to save sangah. jihye, hyunsung and seolhwa chilling in the room during proof of stars, and hyunsung was picking his nose like are you fr they are so unserious,.
in jttw arc ch 433, yoosung growing close enough to joonghyuk to not get intimidated by him and (forcefully (forcefully is a strong word but she straight up just puts it on his cheek unprompted and that is so funny of her)) apply seolhwa's ointment, even giggling when he allows her to do it after she brings up doctors orders.
after proof of stars, theres a portion that goes
The party members supported each other. (...) I saw the white lines connecting the empty universe. The stars, that seemed like they would never meet each other, were facing each other.
please know this: i wanted to cry and scream so bad. ive started to spell out kimcoms names rather than address them in their shortforms, that writing inconsistency is how emotional i am right now.
I can't do the justice of listing down every instance where they've grown a little closer, but i'm hoping to remember more on my second reread.
because orv is such a long novel, the way they gradually grow closer also feels realistic.. and by the time you're in the ch400s, its so clear that they wouldn't go anywhere else without each other.. if i start talking about vacation arc i'll just start sitting and staring at a wall again.
"you're explaining how an average found family trope is realised" Youre right!!! youre right!!,, me when the found family is actually found family.. don't shame me like this.. i'm just an emotional person..
Ah and then you get moments where their unity really shines, and they become god pummeling probability festering forces of nature... and its when one guy's life is in jeopardy. even when they weren't all that close yet, its when they save kdj where they feel most strong. and its a bit obvious because its like, common goal makes people group together yknow, but god the adrenaline and relief when they appeared in demon king selection.. the way their names pop up one after another when they vote for jung heewon's skill..
and 1865 !! 1865 was really the epitome of it all!! oh my god they were all so reluctant to return to the hell of the scenarios but they dragged themselves back because of one fucking guy that they loved too much. and i'm rereading 1865 a bit as i write this but the way they all yelled at their sponsors to pick them is so so funny and the whole speedrunning thing really shows their desperation to quickly find him but also feels a bit fun and even exhilirating with how theyd already beaten the game once, and they were going to storm through the whole thing again to reach kim dokja. like a fuckin earthquake. the lines in ch 536
They had to be insane. (...) These people who lost their minds were clearing the scenarios with insane methods.
YEAHHH THATS MY FUCKING KIMCOM WOOOH OH MY GODD THEYRE SO INSANE!!!!
kimcom's bond was strengthened because of their love for kim dokja, kimcom drifted so close because of how much they wanted to save kim dokja. whenever i think about the 'found family' trope between kimcom, it exists because they love kim dokja, and once again i'm reminded of how much that bastard is loved and how he denies that he is anything else but a reader outside the covers of the story.
It's not to say that all of kimcom's bonds were because of him, but it's clear that had it not been for him, they would have dissipated so much quicker.
agh. what was i talking about again..
genuinely i dont know if ive proven anything through this. i just had to talk about it. i havent even talked about the relationship between kdj and each kimcom member but then the post wouldnt end. sys's section would be thousands of words and i would even have a portion for gong pildu and jang hayoung..
i love kimcom. thats it thats the post.

Undertale Yellow - Comments/Spoilers
howdy, y'all. i've still yet to complete the game, but i wanted to yap about what i know so far, and some concepts that stuck out to me.
read under the cut ONLY if you wish to read spoilers for uty.
thoughts and feelings about ceroba
okay, so my opinion on ceroba as a character has drastically changed from when i first encountered her to now. at first, i assumed her to fulfil the "voice of reason" role in contrast to starlo's chaotic and reckless behavior. after completing the steamworks and finding chujin's tapes, however, it is clear that ceroba was only acting calm, collected and friendly to gain the trust of clover. her ultimate goal was to lure clover so that she could "complete" chujin's work.
ceroba is clearly morally corrupt. we can see this in the dialogue before her pacifist fight, when she states that she is "too far gone" and only wishes to complete her husband's work, without much regard to the safety of her daughter (as she caused kanako's poor condition with the serum, against chujin's wishes.)
my question is, why couldn't she have found another boss monster to take the serum? why did it have to be her daughter, especially when her deceased husband (who she clearly wishes to honor) explicitly told her not to use it on kanako?
the only answer that i can muster is that she was so terrified when the previous human, integrity, attacked kanako's friend, that she panicked and used it on kanako in order to prevent the next human from potentially attacking and killing kanako. (aside: i wonder what led integrity to attack in the first place? perhaps she felt threatened by the monster children? it's not like she was evil like chara; dalv was implied to have befriended integrity, so she couldn't have been hostile. anyway...)
the bottom line is, i think ceroba is batshit crazy and it's kind of sad because originally, i liked her, and felt so differently about the kind of character she was.
Tumblr media
the incident with axis
finding the secret tape behind chujin's grave was certainly an experience, one that makes sense in comparison with undertale itself. in the tape, chujin explains that axis brutally murdered integrity after she attacked kanako's friend. chujin states that he hid any evidence of the attack (shown on the map of souls, in which integrity is represented by a question mark) and reprogrammed axis (so it must've been really brutal.) this checks out with the original game's storyline, as integrity's items (the ballet shoes and tutu) are hidden within waterfall area.
i do wonder why chujin felt it necessary to hide the evidence of the attack, though. isn't it the goal to kill and harvest the souls of humans? wouldn't he have been renowned for his duties? my guess is that he wanted to keep it a secret as to 1.) not worry the public that humans are posing a significant threat to the underground, and 2.) take integrity's soul for the progression of his experiment.
anyway, those are just some thoughts. i haven't beaten ceroba's pacifist fight yet, so these are just ideas and speculations about the storyline that i am not fully caught up to yet. hope it was a good read, and if i was seriously wrong about something, let me know!

I still have some suspicions about Rollo getting his own card and becoming playable character...
Tumblr media
Warning! Spoilers for book 7
I really do think GloMas is more than just another Halloween event.
Personaly I consider it as some kind of a "bridge" between Books 6 and 7. I don't remember we've ever had an event which was so connected with the main story. GloMas implies you to know the UMs of 90% of participating characters as you already read 6 chapters and there's no point in hiding them, BUT it never shows or even mentions Silver, Sebek, or Malleus' UMs (though Sebek's lightning would be really helpful in the battle). Also the true natures of some characters (like Jamil f.e.) are shown, though it can be spoilers for someone who hasn't read the 4th Book. Not to mention Idia's part in the story. His whole speech about being an expert in certain field and his understanding fo Rollo's situation is actually a huge spoiler for Book 6 (even if it doesn't tell you the whole thing about Ortho).
So my point is Rollo may actually be an important character in future main story!
The situation we're in now is pretty shity. The whole Sage Island fell asleep and the only awaked characters are Silver, Sebek, Yuu and Ortho. The last one made a smart decision to ask for help outside the island. STYX is a powerfull organization but Papa Shroud said that even them don't know much about Malleus' power and how it works. So is there another powerfull someone outside the damage area? Yes. Rollo.
Don't get me wrong, I don't compare one student to an ancient organization, but Rollo is a really strong mage. Back in GloMas Malleus even said that he felt scared for a moment because of him. Rollo also has an experience in fighting Malleus, he felt his power, he knows it (I understand that normal Mal and OB Mal are like two different things but the magic's nature is still the same). Moreover, Silver, Sebek and Idia (who's gonna to wake up sooner or later*) know Rollo and his abilities, especially Idia.
So I really do hope Rollo's gonna come back, though it seems impossible even for me lol. But some time ago we thought event character having their own card is impossible, sooo...
---
Giving him a card also can mean that there's gonna be a battle where you have to use Rollo to fight, like we had damn towers back in Book 6 or battle maps in Book 7.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's just me who wants Rollo to come back, but I like thinking about stuff like that. Anyway, thank you for attention!
*I haven't read B7P6 yet, but I know Idia shows up at the end, though I dk the curcamstances (dream or reality), pls don't spoil it for me!!

Kazui Sexuality Analysis
For the past few months, i’ve convinced multiple people that Kazui Mukuhara is gay— and with the introduction of the Cat MV, I felt it’d be good to make a master list documenting exactly why the theory came across. Primarily to indoctrinate people. Sorry. Thank you @prisoner-000 for helping me with this! >_< ( Despite me initially being the one indoctrinating you lol! )
TW : Open talk discussing Suicide.
WARNING : Spoilers for Trial 2.
Welcome to the ride.
Also I forget Hinako canonically has a name so she’s referred to as “his wife” the whole time. Oops..
Let’s start with the First Trial Voice Drama: “Gouging in the Night” / “Another Night”.
With this being an introductory voice drama, it’s hard to necessarily gauge much of the depth regarding Kazui’s character, but we do get our first introductory to his heavily emphasized ‘lying’ aspect of his character. We also get multiple instances in which he identifies adults with being those that cannot act on their emotions, as Kazui did, because in doing so makes them ‘weak’. Es refers to Kazui as someone with a fake smile, that’s been “consciously crafted to show himself a certain way”, which can be common in those that have experiences having to mask their identity due to a rough home-life / lack of being understood by peers around them.
“What's so good about it? I don't like this. It's just a fake smile that you've consciously crafted to show yourself in a certain way. You're acting based on how you want others to see you - your face clearly shows that you're lying.”
“This is, this is.... You're pretty strict. * Laughs* it's not like I'm not scared at all, either. But I've got the responsibility that comes with being older, too - even in an abnormal situation like this, there's no way I could just let myself panic in front of the kids. Well, even if it's fake, adults need to keep up a smile... in order to not let you young ones down, you know.”
Having to keep up a ‘mask’/‘facade’ in order to keep those around him happy.
—— • ——
“If you say that I'm lying.. You might just be right. Unfortunately, once you're an adult, you get very good at lying.”
“.. Adults, huh?”
Another brief mention of ‘lying’ being natural for adults.
—— • ——
“I... see. It might be as you say. We just become more and more passive to avoid causing pain. Yeah... that's right. It's true that my lies killed her, and even now, I still haven't changed. No, that's not it - I can't change because I was already born this way. But... Don't talk big without even knowing a thing about my feelings, kid.”
“...Nice to meet you, Kazui Mukuhara, it feels like I've finally come face to face with you. Well met, I am Es, the prison guard of MILGRAM.”
“* Exhales, chuckles * Such a fashionable way of greeting, huh? Well, hopefully, you won't come to regret this. These kinds of relationships tend to bring pain with them.”
Despite his wife dying, he says he has not changed, despite all the guilt he supposedly holds for her suicide.
A vague remark regarding their relationship being inherently ‘painful’, despite it being shown that they seemed happy in their relationship. This is emphasized in the “Cat” MV, where you get a better glimpse at their personal relationship.
—— • ——
“As you know, with this personality of mine... I have trouble talking to others about myself openly. I guess, despite physically being as big as I am, I've still got a cowardly side to myself.”
“I'm not interested in your self-deprecation.”
“There's something I'm thinking about now, with this situation... I... all of my sins and weaknesses that I've been hiding... I might have been subconciously waiting for for someone to forcibly uncover them all along.”
He has been “subconsciously waiting for someone to forcibly uncover them,” which implies a sense of relief when he is finally uncovered as a liar. He would not have to show face, or lie about himself.
This is common in gay people who cannot reveal their identity due to negative reception/social status. It is easier to hide than it is to reveal and be honest with those around you, though that relief would still exist.
—————————————————
The “Half” MV.
the title for half could easily be showing a one-sided love— only one ‘half’ sharing that love.
Tumblr media
“If only your heart would change, but that’s not possible.”
Here we begin with the first bits of implication, and strongly at that. The description of the video highlights a lyrical piece I believe is incredibly important— as I personally believe it’s him speaking to himself. He had no reason for his wife to have a change of heart, he is shaming himself here. He has openly stated he dislikes himself, so it’s not necessarily surprising.
“Laughing together, side by side, this distance in our relationship is misleading me. Is this what happiness is?”
Under the idea that Kazui seeked compassion and love in a relationship, as it’s hinted at in “Cat”, it’s likely around this time that he actually began to realize that he had struggled to be attracted to her beyond face value. What he lists is not inherently romantic, and in fact can be viewed as a lyric about a best friend whom viewed him as a lover.
“Where did I go wrong? Probably from the beginning,
Please tell me what I should do, feelings shrouded in lies will float away and disappear”
He’s beginning to understand that his feelings aren’t attraction to her, but built up on the ideal of what attraction should be. Kazui mentions that his parents would be disappointed in him now— and that begs the question, why? His life was generally exactly as you’d expect if not more from an adult man. He seemed to have a well-off job, a loving wife, and the only thing missing is a lack of kids. There was nothing there to disappoint them in the first place.
“I could try you, and I could touch you, but you probably wouldn’t notice
I understand that this love is out of bounds, so nothing has to change”
After these lines, likely referencing Kazui’s inability to grasp their relationship romantically, he is shown to stare up at his audience member self. I am under the belief that there are two Kazui’s: the one masking his sexuality, and the other painfully aware of it. The ‘actor’ (masking) one proceeds to gesture his head over for the audience member to proceed to the right— and this is where he sees it.
The “Forbidden Fruit” Motif
This will be referenced in both MV’s.
It’s hard to explain the origin of the “Forbidden Fruit” idea, but the generalized concensus for the usage of this motif in media is the following :
As a metaphor outside of the Abrahamic religions, the phrase typically refers to any indulgence or pleasure that is considered illegal or immoral.
Tumblr media
Kazui’s forbidden fruit motif is intense. The representation of it through a green apple is something he finds with distaste, stepping away from it and staring aghast.
“All this time till now has hurt me. The scales of my heart has decided to sway.”
Kazui is unhappy. He is admitting to that unhappiness, even being pictured in the MV as this is when he confessed to his wife.
“If continuing to hide is called unhappiness, not even one word will get to you.”
I’m not sure what to make of the second part, I believe to an extent this is her ‘denial’ of his feelings. A fear that this is happening, something that is truly real. Kazui openly states he’s unhappy, and she cannot fathom that. Reasonably so.
“I’m sure nothing will change and we’ll laugh together and call each other stupid names.
So many things I wish I hadn’t known, i’m just a coward.
Why is it questioning me now?”
Kazui wished to remain friends. And that broke her. That broke her enough to which she ended up committing suicide. He was oblivious, and let his emotional side get to him— this is why he insists on the fact he “failed when he prioritized his emotions.”
—————————————————
The Birthday Art
Tumblr media
For their birthdays in 2021, Milgram released art + merch with the characters, with flowers representative of aspects of their characters. Flower meaning plays a large role in this.
Kazui has a spiderwort on his vest. This can be representative of “wisdom” or “I respect you, but not in love”. Uh.. do I really have to hyper-analyze this?
—————————————————
Second Trial Voice Drama : “ Imposter Boulevard “
FINALLY. Dead confirmation that the cheating theories are entirely false— which begs the question of ‘What the hell is going on with this man?’ … You know why we’re here.
In this voice drama, i’d argue he’s incredibly open about the fact there’s more to him than we initially believed. Thank you Onigiriico for the translations!
“That’s ridiculous. If you can save someone by telling a lie, that’s what you should do.”
“However… You killed someone with your lies, didn’t you?”
“… Ah… You forgave me, didn’t you? Aren’t you being especially strict towards me?”
He admits that lying in order to save someone is where his moral compass lies.
“Marriage is something that both partners want equally, isn’t it? It’s something you can’t do if only one person wants it. Deciding to treat it as a punishment all on your own… You’re making a mockery out of it.”
“I really am. Ah… She must have thought so as well. My wife, that is.”
“I’ve said this before: You’re a liar. Those lies have killed a person.”
No notes. You get it.
“I despise myself for lying, too. Being a liar, you see – it’s painful.”
“Heh. Then just–“
“So I’ve tried to change! I’ve tried to change. I have tried to stop lying to myself and others!”
“…”
“I’ve confided in others. I’ve tried to be myself! I’ve tried to just be the way I was born!”
“…Hey, Kazui–“
“It’s not my lies that killed her. She’s dead because I stopped lying to her! If I had just kept lying- She wouldn’t have died…!”
The implication that he has had to ‘confide’ in others, attempting to be himself rather than the masking he has done all his life.. and now here he is, in Milgram, reminded of his past. Hauntingly, almost.
“All the lies I’ve told are tying me down. Ever since I was little, I’ve never truly opened myself to anyone. But in the end, people can’t be saved if they don’t [open up]. And by now, it’s gotten to a point where I can’t do it by myself anymore…”
( machinery whirrs, bell rings )
“I did think Milgram would be able to force its way past that, though.”
He’s hidden he was gay since he was a child, but he knows the Milgram Prison of all things can dig into his memory and force him to confess.
—————————————————
The “Cat” MV.
With the active removal of the ‘cheating’ theory people centrically revolved towards, the introduction of the “Cat” MV was something i’ve been looking forward to for a while now due to the possibilities that it contained. And possibilities it showed, investing in the origin of the couple we’ve been following for so long. Two coworkers turned into a married couple, happily together with one ‘small’ issue. Kazui seems to recognize that his feelings for hers do not match what she wishes.. after they’re married.
Tumblr media
“I just wanted to touch, to caress, i just wanted to be touched. So it’s wrong? Shove that!”
“If it’s for the sake of true love, who wouldn’t lis for that?”
Kazui is seeking attention. He views romantic relationships as capable of giving him that, and assumed that’s what the relationships entail. In doing so, he’s indirectly ‘using’ her for the romantic aspects he’s unaware he doesn’t reciprocate. He views this as the normality for relationships, assumably having not been in many before then.
“Love (plus) Destiny = Crap
Smash it, shatter it, bye-bye
That sticky-sweet sequence: Dinner + Camouflage + You-Know-What
Loving Affection (minus) Love
Victim and Perpetrator, let’s keep it simple”
A long collective of lines, but it’s perfectly representative of what I previously stated. Kazui cannot understand what is meant to be a romantic relationship. In discovering what he believes to be one, he lashes out, assuming that relationships are something that he deem more inconvenient than the exciting things that are talked about in stories.
This is where Kazui begins to realize he is not happy in his relationship, and it is not because of his wife. And of course, in response to this distress— not too long later in the video, the green apple returns.
Tumblr media
The return of the “Forbidden Fruit”, a constant reminder that he is living a lie. I don’t believe this is directly meant to symbolize his homosexuality, but rather the aspects of it he is trying to ignore. He is hiding the things he knows will hurt her, even if it hurts him. As stated in one of the lines during this sequence:
“All the things I wanna do that I can’t say out loud, I gotta keep it inside and act.”
He has conformed to the idea of just being another actor playing his role in life. This will crumble soon. For both their sakes.
Tumblr media
Quickly, the sequence shifts once again to Kazui’s inner dialogue.
“I can’t stop, I can’t be normal
This feeling, it can’t be gratified
This feeling, it yearns to be satisfied”
Kazui yearns for what he can’t have: a relationship where he shares the feelings his partner does. He yearns to love and be loved. He is an adult, far too late in his life ( in his eyes ) to do so. It’d be selfish to turn back now and begin a new life, but it’s just as painful to live a lie of loving someone he just is not capable of loving. This is why the sequence breaks so quickly.
He cannot confide in the smoking he is indulging in to cope, quickly taking the animal and taking a bite, representative of him tearing their marriage apart by his ‘confession’.
“I want to be loved, just like a cat”
And then his wife is shown to die, him bloodied from the animal and nothing but the facade left in the dust.
Kazui Mukuhara and Hinako Mukuhara were never meant to love. But in Kazui’s desperation, and Hinako’s love, they’ve created a lavender marriage(1) webbed in lies and deception— and the only way a love story like this ends is in tragedy.
—————————————————
Interrogation Notables
Who do you respect?
“You wouldn’t know them, but I have a childhood friend. I really look up to them. Sorry for bringing up someone you have no clue about.”
Do note that this “childhood friend” he briefly mentions has had he/him pronouns in a few translations. It is also notable that he mentions said childhood friend owns a boat. And guys like boats idk im grasping for straws here as usual
Is your family proud of you?
“No. They must find me embarrassing.”
Logic or Emotion, which do you prioritize more?
“I’ve failed before when prioritizing emotions. I’ll never act on my feelings again.”
Do you like yourself?
“Well, not really.”
If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do?
“Relax and go traveling, I guess. That childhood friend I talked about before has a boat.”
Do you regret your “murder”?
“I do regret it. I should’ve continued to just pile up my lies.”
Do you want to be forgiven?
“I don’t know. I do think I want my weakness to be accepted, if I were to be honest.”
—————————————————
Extra Speculation/Key Notes
The René Magritte painting comparison is something that’s notably been pointed out since Cat’s release, being that one of the shots mimics a painting of René Magritte’s very closely— though, one would mark it as coincidence, the comparison and meaning behind the piece actually makes it appear intentional.
The meaning behind the painting ‘The Son of the Man’, or in Margritte’s words, is “Everything we see hides something else. We always want to see what is hidden with what we see but this is not possible. Humans hide their secrets very well.” This is clearly intentional, given Kazui’s open inability to just confess to his ‘lying’ himself- entrusting on Milgram to open up his mind and make him confess to something he has hidden ‘since he was young’.
Tumblr media
The “bartender”, or as the fandom has dubbed him “Kazui’s gay lover”, is a very popular outsider character to Milgram due to his seemingly close connection to Kazui. He is shown in both the “Half” and “Cat” as a sort of friend to him— a connection to the bar he is familiar with, and even resorts to in rough times. In the “Half” MV he is notably missing a wedding ring, whilst at the “Cat” wedding he is wearing one.
Many people theorize that Kazui recognized he had feelings for this man, and that was his way of recognizing that he was gay, whilst the feelings were unreciprocated due to him being assumably married. In a shot in “Cat”, Kazui is seen staring into a glass, although it’s unknown where or whom he is speaking to. A line says the following:
“Hey, so what if I said I like-liked you, what would you do?”
This is post-wedding, clearly thanks to Kazui’s scuffed appearance. But that is in no-way you would speak to your wife, is it not? It is easy to assume that he is speaking to the bartender in this instance.
DO NOTE : It is possible the bartender is not featured in the “Cat” MV, and it happens to be a design incredibly similar. He was in the center of the shot though, and that’d be an insane coincidence IMO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@prisoner-000 : “ The roles he takes on in the play (Soldier, office worker, host) are anchored in masculinity, at least in their societal perceptions. His actor costume is supposed to represent his status as an actor even more clearly. (There seems to be a recurring motif of him as an “actor”). “
@prisoner-000 : Portal interaction addition.

I hope this does him justice..
I put a lot of effort into this, it would mean a lot if you interacted so more people could see. Thank you for reading!!

The more I think about The Ring / Ringu 's story, the more I realize that the reason why it seems bizarre to treat Sadako/Samara as the villain is because... It sort of is.
This post contains spoilers for the Japanese movie, the American remake, and the original book of "The Ring/Ringu".
In the American version, Samara is implied to be a demon child; some sort of abomination brought into the world by irresponsible parents who wanted a child but we're not able to conceive. (See the queer undertone?) Her parents had no special abilities in any way.
Samara herself was being tested for ESP (extrasensory perception) at a psych ward, due to her deliberately "wanting to hurt people" seemingly for no obvious reason other than her being evil, maybe with a bit of parental neglect sprinkled in that has the undertones of it being "understandable" under the unique circumstances. It always felt like a sort of overly reductive view of the character, and a bit unfitting as to why she would create the tape seemingly as a cry for help, but then revealed at the end, ah, no, she is indeed just evil, look at her angry face!
This does not satisfy me.
In the original Japanese version of the movie, Sadako's mom is the one being tested for ESP. Sadako— who is shown to be a strange looking, moppish, unkept girl even in her oldest memories here (unlike in the American version where she is portrayed very much like a very deadpan but otherwise normal child)— uses her own ESP to kill a heckler in the crowd who is becoming critical and standoffish with her mom and the ESP doctor, Dr Ikuma. It is explained at some point that she is a demon child creating by her mother yearning for the sea too much. She is killed by Dr Ikuma after studying her, rather than her parents.
This one seemed to touch on something interesting, but it's nowhere near as interesting as the information the book provides on the matter.
Ikuma is her father.
Sadako and her mother's relationship and plot is a fair bit different from in the films, based on what I've gathered online, but it boils down to the same ideas. Her mother had ESP, Ikuma encouraged her to show off her powers, and in the process discovered that Sadako's were even more powerful, and proceeded to study her. This is where things begin to really diverge.
Ikuma gets sick from trying to unlock his own powers leaving Sadako to grow up away from her family. And she does grow up, unlike in the films. She grows to 19 years old before returning to Ikuma in his mental ward after a heartbreak and deaths caused by her powers. There, she is raped by a different doctor, who discovers she is intersex (with the present of both male and female genitalia), and is so disgusted that he throws her down the well. Sadako, in her remaining days, developed the smallpox that this doctor unknowingly carried, amplifying her death curse into a physical virus.
Okay can we talk about the fact that she is intersex.
Like holy shit what. NONE of the media of her other than book seems to find that worth mentioning. NONE of the other media finds her adult or teenage life worth mentioning. ALL of the other media treats her as an inherent evil. Even in the books, it is mentioned that she wants to be reborn normal, but is unable to because she is intersex. Not because she is cursed or has ESP, but because she is intersex!
An actual queer character, with an actual struggle, trying to live her life to her fullest despite everything in her life taking her away from the people who cared for her. The HIV parallel to the smallpox the doctor gives her. The fact that her last dying effort is to tell the world her story, and curse the world that wronged her with having to experience her pain. And what becomes of this in the later Movie versions???
Saying outright that she is a demon child.
Implying that it's better that she died, and that her story would be better forgotten.
Her parents shown as irresponsible and secretive for adopting a child they were never 'meant to' be able to conceive.
Portraying her as a faceless monster even as a child, or as a demented and unlovable freak.
Portraying her with ungrateful, evil intent even while alive.
Portraying her viral potential as something inherent to her as a freak, rather than as something that someone else unknowingly inflicted onto her that she must bear.
...
Portraying her the exact way that real queer/ND people are treated all their lives, through all of modern history, childhood to adulthood, all in an effort to create something from her character that doesn't have to discuss her intersexuality. Even her parents, turned from people destroyed by the societal reception and health issues from their ESP, into people who bring the devil to Earth for the crime of wanting a child when they cannot have one.
All leading right back to exactly what created the curse in the original. The trauma of queerness. All erased and paved over in order to create a more palatable villain out of a child who couldn't help it. Showing through the obfuscations created to hide it, if you know how to see through it. It's not even to say the book doesn't have those themes, but it is obvious that great care went into scrubbing this element from her character in the popular culture, while amplifying its effects on her.
No wonder it feels bizarre to treat her character how the movies do. They removed the central element that explains everything.
And no wonder we relate to villains so much. So much of the time they are us.
So much of the time their motivations are to tell their own stories, to have others understand their pain, to show the world how it treats people like them. And as soon as those ideas are marketed to a mass audience, the victim becomes the villain, and the point is buried under enough layers to make the people who would have thrown her down that well feel good about being part of the society that destroyed her in the first place.
I hope we remember that when we see a real queer person being demonized for relating to a reprehensible character.

"The Bad Batch" Season 3 episodes 1-3 review
guys, I woke up at the crack of dawn to watch this because I couldn't sleep (although tbf, my room's heater was way too much and distracting my peaceful slumber anyway). Overall, I really enjoyed the start to the final season. I thought the character directions were good, animation was always beautiful, music was great, and the action was fun. There were a few surprises and somethings I wish they changed, but I'm happy.
spoilers not necessary, but it's fair to say that Hemlock has cemented himself as a truly sinister and twisted villain. Everything about him from his VA's performance to actions are perfection. His theme is also very chilling. We've never seen a villain like him in Star Wars.
Spoilers below
Omega and Crosshair right away steal the show for me. Her upbeat attitude even in the darkest of times is enough to breakthrough Crosshair's darkness. And honestly, that's one of my favorite things about Omega: her hope. Although she's a kid and separated from her family, she still finds ways to keep going. She finds companionship in Batcher (who is adorable), talks with Crosshair, makes a straw Lula, and constantly searches for a way out. I love her dearly. There's something about her pluckiness that's so endearing. Side note: isn't it eerie she kinda resembles Emerie with her hairstyle? I think it was intentional and she's a mirror to her.
Then there's Crosshair. He's my favorite character so of course I was excited to see him. I am a big fan of the direction they're taking him in. He's at his lowest and right now, he has to slowly pick himself back up. Although I can see his transition from "there's no escape" to trusting Omega as a bit rushed, I think it works. They've been stuck for months and I like to think that in the time between episode 1 and 3, her visits kept him going. And that's very important. It's implied that she constantly visits him when she can. His body language also speaks volumes. I could talk for a while about that. Crosshair's words hold a sharp bite to them; he doesn't like being emotionally vulnerable. However, his body language says differently. He does trust Omega's direction, he smiles when thinking of Tech, he readily helps Omega up, and he's surprised when Omega tells him he doesn't deserve to be stuck on Tantiss. Crosshair clearly cares about her and his family even though his words try to shield that. AND HE FINALLY SAID OMEGA'S NAME!!! I am not ok with this.
The other thing about Crosshair I want to talk about is his hands. He either has nerve damage from Barton IV, the torture is getting to him, or he has psychosomatic symptoms from his mental anguish. One of the things that's quickly established about him is that he's a sharpshooter. Crosshair is shown repeatedly to make these incredible shots and never miss. And yet, now he keeps missing because his hands shake. I think it's an interesting choice to make. Aside from forcing Crosshair to fight physically and show how cool he is, this choice does emphasizes how fractured his identity has become. When he joined the Empire, he lost his Batcher identity. The Empire stripped him of his humanity. Then, he lost his soldier identity when taken to Tantiss. Now, the only other thing he has, which are his skills, are gone. He needs to slowly put himself back together and I'm excited to see his journey.
Moving on to Hunter and Wrecker. They need hugs so much. One of the things I noticed was that Wrecker was more subdued and quiet. He's always let his inner child out, but knows when it's time to be serious. I really appreciated the mature approach to both characters. Hunter is struggling with Tech and Omega's loss and it's evident. He secludes himself and the pain is felt in his words and body language. Even their armor design shows the mental toll that last season's events have taken on them. Overall, I'm intrigued to see how their journeys progress. They're both kinda stuck and hopefully that will change as they get closer and closer to finding Omega (and Crosshair).
In terms of story, I did really enjoy that we got in the first few episodes. The clone cadet mini arc in episode 2 was really cool to watch as it finally explains what happens to the younger clones. It shows how they adapt with losing everything they know, especially since they're kids. On top of that, we get the start of the "find Omega" mission. Both stories mesh well together and I enjoyed it a lot. The story with Omega and Crosshair was particularly interesting. The monotony of the Empire is on full scale, as is Hemlock's cruelty. My crack theory is that Palpatine is trying to make force sensitive clones. But I think the mystery behind Project Necromancer is really fascinating and spooky. Both Emerie and Nala Se are interesting in because both feel conflicted about their loyalty to Omega and their jobs. I think Emerie will choose Omega in the end though, just like Nala Se did. Overall, I think both stories are intriguing and will hopefully have some great payoffs in the end.
Of course, not everything is perfect. I didn't expect the time-jump or the escape from Tantiss to be that fast. Honestly, I think we could've waited an episode before jumping right into it. It makes me wonder what's next for Cross and Omega since they left so quickly. I also really wish that we got Crosshair's reaction to finding out about Tech. It's implied Omega told him based on what she says at the crashed shuttle. Still, I would've loved to find out his reaction. That's his brother. I think it's fair to say that Crosshair would've felt very guilty. In the time since episode 1, he's probably made peace with it, but I think it should've been included nonetheless.
Those are my overall thoughts. I hope you all enjoyed the episodes as well and I'm so excited for next week. Until then Bad Batch friends! May the Force be with you!
(also, i hope we see Echo next week!)

The theory behind the sick eliatrope explained.
‼️SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4‼️
LEAVE AT THE WARNING IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN EPISODES 7 AND 8 YET.
.
.
.
.
.
.
If you’ve been thinking the same thing about this then you’re right.
There’s a high chance that the sick eliatrope is Nora.
This theory started to circulate among the primordial eliatropes when Adamaï explained there was a hole in the deepest part of Abuela’s ocean that looked a lot like an eliatrope portal, especially Qilby’s.
Of course, Yugo immediately assumes Qilby was the one who opened a portal for the necromes but Qilby does not waste any time and straight up tells Yugo that he’s wrong.
And it’s painfully obvious Qilby was being honest but Yugo doesn’t see it.
Qilby had already attempted to destroy the world and the only reason why he hadn’t put his plans into motion earlier was because he was still weak from being stuck in the White Dimension for so long.
Yes, when he created a portal for the shushus, it looked identical to the one Nora and Yugo found in the Sadida kingdom. But that’s just what an eliatrope portal would look like if it was used to travel to another dimension.
Not to mention that when he attacked Toross with the eliatrope dofus, he genuinely looked like he didn’t mean to strike Toross with wakfu.
Tumblr media
Therefore, in defense of Qilby, if he was the culprit, he would’ve admitted it a long time ago. The only thing I’m betting about him is that he would have loved to have been the one responsible for this.
So to clear out the problem and see what’s really going on, the three eliatropes and Adamaï, accompanied by Joris and Amalia, all travelled to Toross’ world. When they took a look at the portal that was linked between the two planets, it was finally deduced that it was in fact made by an eliatrope.
Tumblr media
However, they also realized that the portal created by this presumed eliatrope had lines of stasis in it which made Adamaï conclude that the one responsible for this was not only guilty but physically sick.
Tumblr media
Yugo obviously interpreted Adamaï’s words at face value since he already believes Qilby is sick in the head and does not see the logic behind the fact that Qilby couldn’t have been working with the necromes because of Yugo himself (keeping him in the White Dimension).
Qilby is not the culprit no matter how many times Yugo claims he is.
The actual sick eliatrope is Nora for the following reasons below :
1. Her eliatrope portals are diamond-shaped just like the one that brought them all into Toross’ world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. During Nora’s exposition about how she managed to rescue the Eliatrope goddess, we can see how she painfully holds her chest from something. Nora doesn’t specifically explain this part, it is only shown to us but this could’ve been the exact moment when she got infected by the necromes as soon as she landed on Toross’ planet.
Tumblr media
3. When she was fighting the rogues in that one mission given to her by her mother, if you pause at the right moment, you’ll only see the purple color flash on her while her weapons remain blue.
Tumblr media
All points directly line up with Nora.
She’s the one responsible for the portal leading to the World of Twelve.
But the real question here is how come she doesn’t seem aware of all this?
Throughout the whole time she’s been in Toross’ world, she felt and looked scared, skeptical, and confused.
Tumblr media
Some who believe in the theory might’ve deduced that she’s been acting but that doesn’t seem right. The way Toross talks to her doesn’t imply that she’s working for him and we can see how his words affect Nora as she looks completely petrified.
Tumblr media
So I came up with three possibilities as to how this happened :
Toross already knew how to make portals because he had his dofus. After eating some of the Eliatrope goddess’ power, he was finally able to fully use his ability properly.
Toross doesn’t know how to make portals but after Nora came into his world, she accidentally got attacked by one of his minions which allowed him to use her energy to make portals.
After consuming Efrim’s energy, he was able to use Nora’s power through Efrim since primordial eliatropes and their dragon siblings share a special bond.
In short, the sick eliatrope is Nora but she is not guilty of being the one to link the two planets together. Toross is the one using her ability.
Because as Qilby said, it’s not just the eliatropes who can create portals. Some others have the ability to use this power in other ways.

Review of Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix
Tumblr media
There are some spoiler-ish things below, but I think most of it is in the trailer, so I don't think I will ruin anything. I'll warn you during the most spoilery section, though the show makes the "twist" pretty obvious from the beginning.
Premise
Blue Eye Samurai is a Kill Bill-style revenge tale that takes place in 17th century Japan. The samurai is half white/half Japanese. The show states that no white folks were allowed in the country back then, so the samurai tries to conceal blue eyes with some sweet BluBlocker™ orange glasses. The Samurai is displeased to have white heritage and decides to try and kill all the "white devils" hiding in Japan.
Will some reactionaries complain there is a show all about someone trying to murder white people? I have no idea. But they're all bad white people, so I'm hoping it won't become a thing.
My Hot Takes
A few episodes meandered a bit, but I enjoyed the series as a whole quite a bit. If nothing else, the sword fights were epic and bloody. I would have watched it for that alone. And there is some gorgeous art direction where they really take advantage of the 2D styled, 3D animation. Plus, Japan is just really pretty. There is also a puppet show that was brilliantly mixed in with the story and the way they animated it was next level awesome.
They fell into cliche a few times. I think they were trying to do homages and tributes but ended up in Derivative Land and some of them felt a bit cringe.
They used "Battle Without Honor Or Humanity" which is that rousing instrumental song from Kill Bill and it was way too on the nose. Like, yes, this show is obviously a 1600s version of Kill Bill, but you're not supposed to make it that obvious.
Also, there was a Metallica song that equally made me roll my eyes and think, "That is badass" so I give them a pass on that one.
And there were a few sections where it felt like you were watching someone else play a video game. I don't know how else to describe it. As if the narrative melted away and suddenly a bunch of Prince of Persia obstacles appeared.
That said, the story was enjoyable, the actors were great, the characters were interesting, the animation was solid, and the fight choreography was top notch.
The nice thing about animation is you don't have to do any jump cuts during the action, so you get to really *see* the fights develop. Thankfully they didn't make use of a lot of impossible-in-real-life camera moves, so it all felt very grounded. As if these fights could actually be filmed in live-action. I suspect they may have even used motion capture or closely adhered to reference footage. Most of the non-fantastical choreography felt like something a stunt performer could actually do. They even had some legit Japanese samurai-style sword fighting moves before it got to the "John Wick with a katana" part of the show.
Back in the day, samurai duels were more akin to jousting than fencing and usually only lasted one or two moves. It can be pretty exciting as long as you build tension and anticipation. But if every sword fight in the show was like that, it would probably get boring. But it was still nice to see it toward the beginning.
So the quality was a bit roller coaster-y at times, but I think it was a solid first season. And I am really hopeful they get a chance to smooth things out in a second. But it is Netflix, soooooo...
As far as content warnings, there is a lot of blood and sex and nudity. Women are very subjegated and some of those depictions are rough. There are some brutal torture scenes. And I think there is implied rape, but it isn't made super clear.
The nudity was surprisingly balanced which felt refreshing. So get ready for boobies and floppy cartoon peens. All the genitals get screen time.
Quick aside about erotic scenes...
There has been recent discourse about nudity and sexy time in media. My biggest issue has always been that men's bodies are rarely shown aside from the patoot. It is never balanced and I always felt uncomfortable with that arrangement. I know movies are a bit stuck because the MPAA has decided dicks in a sexual context are an automatic NC-17. But even in newer HBO-type content where they do show penises, they are usually prosthetics. Hyper real fake dicks on top of real dicks that probably cost tens of thousands of dollars to develop and apply.
Like, the folks with boobs don't get expensive prosthetics. Only the most famous actresses can opt for a body double. For years, if an actress wasn't willing to get naked they would just say, "Well, I guess we'll just have to find another actress."
And now if a guy doesn't want to get naked, apparently the response is, "Don't worry, we'll raise Stan Winston from the dead so he can make you a perfect megadick."
Tumblr media
Women are usually asked to do the brunt of the nudity and I have long felt that wasn't fair and it was exploitative whether intentional or not.
I just think if you are going to ask actors to be vulnerable, everyone should do it or no one should do it.
I also think we need to see more normal non-porn genitals. Like, you can't brag about your progressive all-inclusive nudity if you slap a giant fake wang on every time.
/end tangent
And now, the spoilery part...
The big twist, which is really only a big twist for a character in the show and not the audience, is that the Blue Eye Samurai was born a girl. To avoid capture and death they essentially hid in a different gender identity. And I'm trying to decide if this is a trans story or not.
Sometimes it felt like the show was bluntly saying, "She's a girl. See, she has boobs and no penis. And we make a big deal about her getting caught naked. It's like Mulan!"
But then the show kinda/sorta implies that while identifying as a man was a tactic at first, the Blue Eye Samurai came to feel much more comfortable as a man most of the time and only revealed their feminine attributes to a select few. They also had a binding scene which felt like intentional trans imagery.
Since there wasn't the same concept of trans-ness in 1600s Japan as we understand it in modern times, I'm having trouble determining if this is just an homage to Mulan that wasn't thought very deeply about, or if this is allegory exploring a trans identity.
It is unclear if the identity was chosen purely out of necessity or if there was more to it.
Was it like... they tried on a coat because it was cold, but then they really liked how it fit and made it an essential part of their wardrobe?
Or was it just pure pragmatism? If they don't wear the coat they will die from exposure.
I'm worried they wanted to stay close to that line where they could say it wasn't a trans story if that ended up being more convenient. I don't know. I'm fine with allegory and I really enjoyed how they did it with Nimona, but this felt more deliberately ambiguous and it frustrated me a bit. It would be nice if we could just have blatant trans stories that didn't need to hide in ambiguity to avoid controversy. But maybe there were more obvious things I missed and my confusion is unwarranted.
I also think an argument could be made for ol' Blue Eye being genderfluid. Actually genderfluid would make a lot of sense. Their masculine side is the stoic warrior and their feminine side is their vulnerability, love, and humanity—reserved only for those most trusted. And when the two blend and they are a warrior woman they get super horny. So the entire spectrum is there.
I'm sure there will be a long complicated video essay analyzing this gender dynamic.
/end of spoilery section
In any case, I think if you liked Kill Bill, this might be a show that interests you. It has much less cultural appropriation and blatant stereotyping. No Pussy Wagon, but there is a cool horse. And they did use an all East Asian voice cast, so that representation was cool. And the co-showrunner was Japanese, and I think that influence definitely made a difference.
I give Blue Eye Samurai 7.5 Froggies out of 10.

Why Betty Grof And Simon Petrikov shouldn't be together!
⚠️THIS IS MY OPINION! (I respect Betty x Simon Shippers and understand it's canon) ⚠️
here are my opinions of why I think they should not get back together or shouldn't have happened in the first place
This is more about Betty than Simon
Tumblr media
As someone who does like them being together and seeing how much they love each other, I personally think Betty and Simon deserved better than each other. Simon is selfish and Betty is a people pleaser/push-over.
WARNING: FIONNA AND CAKE SPOILERS!
Let's start with how they first met: in the recent episode of "Jerry", Simon tells Fionna how he and Betty first met
It's told before that Simon and Betty met in a library, and they touched hands. Soon Betty went to one of his lectures about ancient artifacts and sparked up a conversation with him, telling him how much she admired him and his work. This led Simon not to directly but to asking Betty to join him on his next trip to find The Enchiridion, which ended with Betty saying Yes as this was a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity"
as they both went on that trip and came back, they've both shown to like each other. the only problem is and still is that Betty never saw herself equal to Simon
as he came out of the car to show he found the book, Betty shyly refused to take his spotlight even though she helped him to locate The Enchiridion
As Simon finishes that chapter of the story for Fionna, Fionna herself says that Betty basically left everything for Simon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This will be a recurring issue with Simon and Betty as they live on. as the episode went on, Simon continued his story.
Simon and Betty somewhat parted but Betty ended up writing him a note for him to read fully knowing he would pick up that book (very cute) and wrote a note for him (Mind you! They only known each other for at least a couple weeks before parting to do their own thing for a while) after reading it, it seemed like Betty was truly in love with him, talking about how she wished to be by his side but still doing her own thing.
She was ready to go on that trip she had been waiting for a while. As she was waiting for the bus, Simon ran to go see her
her friend told Simon "Don't make her miss that bus" as it implied that Betty was happy and dreaming of going on that trip (It's also brought up in Betty's Past memories when she was in mars how she really felt during that whole thing)
but he stops her, tells her his feelings, and lived happily ever after, I'm sorry but that's a load of shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Simon didn't even go with Betty to that trip she wanted to go to, soon after all of this they went off to find items HE wanted to find, going on trips to help HIM find lost artifacts
as betty always went along with him, as it's said Betty kinda of picked this way of living, always following Simon because that's what "she" wanted. saying "I want to be by your side" but in that same letter she says she wanted to do her own things BUT have Simon by her side. To me it speaks that she still wanted to do her studies but with Simon there- but we all know how Simon treated her, What did Betty want to do after she got with Simon, We never found out and we all only know she just wanted to be with Simon. Betty nowhere in the series is shown to be her own person besides being the woman Simon is in love with.
Adventure Time: her past before she became Golb
Betty is the whole reason why she fucked up her own life and I mean this in the most respectful way to put it because she really became "God" to save SIMON
When Simon and Betty found the crown, Betty ran away from Simon but as we all know, she ran to the future Simon because He looked "normal" speaking as Betty did not like change whatsoever.
She ended up doing her own thing to see if she could help Simon to no longer be the ice king. Leading to Betty becoming the Magic Woman
Slowly making her go more and more insane as she still had her memories but every time she looked at Ice King it made her go mad. She betrayed Finn to save Simon but failed again (I know I missed the other time where she made an AI version of her to fix the crown but I don't find it too important besides showing how far she's willing to go to save Simon even if it meant killing him)
Betty ended up being on Mars for a while before Finn and Jermaine arrived, they all ended up seeing Betty's old life young Betty, the Betty that was meant to leave to her trip that even Present Betty herself changed the dates to make past Betty leave on her trip because Betty knows that Simon was something she may have wished never happened
She herself said that she gave so much to Simon that she didn't know if there was any left for herself
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
throughout all of Betty's life, it's always been about Simon she gave up her trip, she left her Simon for future Simon, she became mad to save Simon, she became a God to save Simon
In the ending of Adventure Time, Betty pushed Simon out of Glob and made one last wish "I wish for the power to protect Simon" making her fuse with Golb itself
Her last moments, her final wish, it was to protect Simon not save the beings of OOO, or OOO itself- just Simon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as much as they seemed to be in love, Betty was always in the shadow of Simon, giving up her own life for him
Not to mention that it seems like Betty did most of what she did through Puppylove and the honeymoon parts of relationships we don't really know how long they were together before finding the crown but it couldn't be to long after they got together (but I could be wrong) so half of the things she did was for Simon to be his normal self (to me it seems like Betty just wanted to be with Simon as she did go through a portal to be with him as he looked normal instead of staying with her Simon to help him with the crown, Betty doesn't want change)
I can only compare Betty to Millie from Helluva Boss she's an amazing fighter as Betty is smart but what are they?
Millie is Moxxie's wife, and Betty is the lover of Simon. But what else is there to them? besides Betty being a God what more do we know about her? The fact that she studied petroglyphs
There is so much to Betty that even the show called it out but even now, as Fionna and Cake come out, what will happen to Simon and Betty? will she come back as normal Betty to be back with Simon, I really hope not if Simon keeps going to only think of himself
In my personal opinion, I really don't want Betty and Simon to get back together but I at least want Simon to get that closure he needs to move on
Final words:
Sorry if some of the things I said were repeated, I just needed to air this out, if anyone has questions I'll be willing to answer them but if not, that's cool, please don't be mean to me about how "I'm wrong"
we all have different views on how ships should work in media but in opinion, a woman giving up her life for a man isn't for me! even if it's for true love, because even that same man didn't help her with her dreams
I hope what I write makes sense, sometimes I can't get my words right about how I feel about topics
Thank you for reading!

I liked sparklecare until the author did this odd thing where villainous or morally questionable characters are always strictly cishet and even said it was their hard-line rule? Like LGBT characters can never be antagonists or abusive which just felt weird to me, maybe they relaxed on that though I dunno? I am def never offended if a villain shares my gender in a series where good guys can be like me anyway I mean
TLDR: Yeah, there's some weird gender bias with the characters sometimes. Anyways, *starts talking about Awful Hospital again*
Also, spoilers for both Sparklecare Hospital and Awful Hospital. (up to page 41 of SH and various plot point/character reveals for Awful Hospital)
I haven't read too far into the comic myself to confirm, and the genders of the characters were kind of vague anyways thanks to Nurse Mood's shitty notetaking (EDIT: I learned about the existence of the 'Cast' page, my bad), but yeah I've definitely seen a pattern where the LGBT characters are all 'good', regardless of whether they're a patient or employed by the hospital.
Tumblr media
For example, Mood and Ms. Dies are in a lesbian relationship. They're also both employed by the hospital, and despite this are portrayed sympathetically, in opposition to Dr. Cuddles' being genuinely malicious and cruel, as seen below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Even though it's also shown that Mood doesn't give half a shit about the patients, either.
Tumblr media
Now, if you want some equal, well-handled representation, look no further than seriously one of the worst best webcomics of all time...
Tumblr media
Awful Hospital, despite the majority of its cast not even being remotely human, has some great LGBTQ representation in both it's heroes and its villains! Well, 'villains'. The only real villain is the Big Bad(s) of the series, everyone else is just doing what they gotta do in order to survive.
Tumblr media
Speaking of which, this is E.M. Balmer. He's a villain of a whole arc, and has a sort of "kid's cartoon villain" vibe. Goofy, incredibly self-absorbed, and affably evil. He's also implied to have some sort of interest in another male character, Dr. Phage.
Tumblr media
Also, just tell me this beefcake isn't some sort of a Gay. Just look at him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...AAAANYWAYS, in terms of heroic queer characters, you've got your choice between the Lesbians and the Trans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Celia and Staph are this really sweet fungal/bacterial couple who have like a trillion kids and are also besties with the person who's corpse they live in.
Miss is cleverly implied to be trans with this line here:
Tumblr media
Which, personally, I think is really cool!!!!
ALSO I JUST REMEMBERED, THERE ARE ALSO SCISSORS WHO ARE LESBIANS! AND ALSO THESE STAIN MOMS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I realize I didn't really talk much about how cool and epic Awful Hospital's LGBTQ+ characters are very much, buuuut that's because I'm tired and need to sleep so whatever
Anyways, goodnight tumblr people, and...
Read Awful Hospital for fuck's sake!!!

so, about Ballister’s origin...
alright so i’m a huge, huge fan of the original nimona graphic novel. and i’m genuinely a fan of the movie too! it did make some significant changes, but overall told the story it wanted to tell, and pretty much summed up the themes of the novel itself! it was an enjoyable ride!
but!!! there was one bit of the story that didn’t quite sit right with me. and it took me a while to realise what that thing was. (i didn’t want to make a post ranting about it without properly processing what it was that made me dislike this, so i let it ruminate)
anyway, after seeing this post, everything fell into place.
instead of ballister being a commoner rising to become a knight...
what if he was born outside the wall instead?
(major spoilers for the graphic novel and movie below)
so in the original comic, the knights of the institution were all orphans, including ballister and ambrosius. they grew up and trained together, and were both considered among the most skilled and prominent knights of the institution at the time. however, everything changed when they were pitted against each other in a jousting match. the director gave ambrosius a weaponised lance (similar to ballister’s sword in the movie). its weight threw ambrosius off balance and caused him to lose against ballister during the joust. in a fit of jealous rage over losing, he fires the lance at ballister, causing him to lose his right arm and ruining his chances of ever becoming a knight.
all of this is implied to have happened because the director wanted ambrosius to win the joust. perhaps because of the way he looked. white skin, blonde hair, all the ideal societal characteristics of a hero. nate mentions this in a recent article as well talking about the movie.
Tumblr media
while ballister... well. he didn’t. and now he also doesn’t have an arm. it was also implied that the director didn’t like that ambrosius and ballister were close, didn’t like that her perfect hero had a weakness, probably thought that ballister was not good enough for her poster child, idk. so yeah, she killed two birds with one stone. (except in this version no queens were harmed lmao)
the way they translated this into the movie was... well. interesting.
so now, gloreth has a bigger role in all of this. which is cool! it ties in so well with nimona being gloreth’s beast, and the entire reason that the city and the institution exists in the first place. this was actually one of my favourite changes to the comics that they made for the movie!!!
but! what i didn’t like was that our boys were no longer orphans. ambrosius is now the descendant of gloreth? which is why he’s the poster boy of the institution? and the one with the weight of familial expectation on him?
(okay i lied this kinda slaps but it wasn’t explored as much as i’d liked. anyway wouldn’t it have been great if this was a limited series instead of a movie? lmao im going off track.)
but the weirdest part for me, and something i still felt difficult to accept, was that ballister... was a commoner. a commoner that was chosen to join the institution and to become a knight.
and it’s a controversial decision?
youre telling me that in this sci-fantasy world of super monster cops, that the only way people that can become a monster cop, is through nepotism????
and consider this: most of the commercial stuff aimed at kids, teens etc (kwispy dragon for example) sends the message that maybe, just maybe, you, the commonnest of commoner children, could also rise up and be a super monster cop hero?
there’s also the fact that in our current day and age, the story of the underdog gets the most attention and press? wouldn’t the crowds be ecstatic over a kid from nowhere, rising up among the ranks to become one of the most promising potential knights in this institution?
so yeah i dont really understand why the general population have gripes against ballister becoming a knight (it’s shown at the beginning during the whole montage that there’s some people who aren’t vibing with it) douchebag knights maybe yeah. but i don’t see how the general public wouldn’t be anything but supportive, and would turn on him so fast.
unless.... he wasn’t from the city itself.
you only really hear about the wall partly through the film. you’re shown that the city grows and that there’s a wall built around it during the intro cinematic, but nothing is mentioned until quite significantly through the film. which is odd... considering how important it is to the story. gloreth built the wall to keep the monsters out. to keep us in and to keep them out. the propaganda of there only being monsters outside the wall, and only good and respectable citizens live within the city walls.
(how does the wall keep us free? the wall keeps out the enemy. and we build the wall to keep us free, that’s why we build the wall, we build the wall to keep us free.)
which would make a ballister that came in from outside the wall... well.
1. it would make the director’s statement of ‘cracks in the wall’ make more sense. in a literal sense, ballister couldve come into the city from a literal crack in the wall. which also ties into the metaphor of gloreth’s walls/propaganda cracking. and the fact that he’s now rising up to become a knight? corruption from the inside? it makes the director’s motivations hold more weight.
(also having the director be a descendant of gloreth rather than ambrosius would make more narrative sense but that’s a whole other post)
2. now the public would have more reason to not trust this guy. it’s easier to spread propaganda about him once he ‘kills the queen’. a monster infiltrating the ranks. and then he’s allied with a monster shapeshifter nimona?
3. the parallels between ballister and nimona??? would be even more prevalent??? both literal outsiders. hated by everybody for basically no reason other than that they’re different. and the fact that ballister accepts nimona when gloreth didn’t?
4. there’s also the fact that throughout the movie, the concept of the wall protecting the people from the monsters outside is questioned - are there really even monsters outside, when we’ve never seen them for ourselves? what if you guys are lying to us, what if youre WRONG? and ballister becoming a knight might’ve been a step in the right direction towards pushing against those stereotypes, but the director wasn’t having any of it.
so yeah, those are my thoughts. the movie is still insane though i rly love it. but a lad can dream about what could’ve been, yeah?

They're all so stupid.
God I fucking LOVE the Ah-Duo arc. It's criminal she gets so little content and leaves the story so soon. There are so many tragedies surrounding her: her child's death*, how that caused Fengming (someone who admired her greatly) to suffer guilt for years, and how this guilt almost caused the death of a high-ranking concubine and led to the death of an innocent servant as a scapegoat.
As one of the oldest people in the cast at thirty-five, Ah-Duo shows a level of maturity, sympathy, and compassion few others have, extending those feelings to those of lower ranks (who are usually exempt from being shown understanding or kindness). She recognizes the worth and hard work of those around her.
But what I love most about her reaction here are the things left unsaid or implied: the way Ah-Duo speaks of the servant girl's last moments and how awful a death it must have bene (drowned in freezing waters); the way she was both glad but also felt guilty over being promoted to concubine because the emperor cared for her... it all makes you wonder if she was also aware of Fengming's involvement in the baby's death and how she sought to cover it up or how Fengming tried to harm the one girl who saw her (the woman who lost her ability to procreate a sixteen) as a mother figure...
*[spoilers for future plot points]
And how must have she felt, all those years, seeing her son alive and well, but ignorant of his true birth mother, while she mourned the death of the former empress's son? If we go by the implication she was aware Fengming accidentally killed her "child", how must Ah-Duo have felt knowing her most trusted servant felt all this guilt over another woman's child (while never knowing it)?
All that love, all those years of devotion, all undone because of misunderstandings...
It's so stupid.
