Basic Training Headcanons

I don't know why but after reading @jennifer-10nyson post , ( here ) , I wanted to write this down.

This was supposed to be a small paragraph but then I got carried away and then OCs started coming in and well, it got long and ended up being this. Also I didn't re - read after it was done so sorry for the grammatical mistakes. Also sorry if things aren't Canon, I wasn't exactly thinking about it much when I was typing it out.

This is how the Basic Training episode [ or story arc ] should've gone in my opinion.

The trio is taken to the academy as usual

Ben complains , Tack is introduced

Brannigan is still a jerk, but still is head of the alpha squad.

They are the best ranking team in the academy

Ben and co will not be fighting with them or against them throughout their stay.

They've been training for a while and are on a whole other level. Ben and Co. are considered newbies to the program so it doesn't make sense for them to be together.

When they arrive , they are taken to the main hall.

Ben, even Gwen and Kevin don't really think the need training. They have saved the world a lot.

There are more aliens besides them , not just the 4.

Hulka informs them that they will have specific training to help them develop their own capabilities.

They will then also have common classes like what were mentioned in the episode about space ships n alike, and stratergy making sessions

One of the classes is a common combat class like using weapons and stuff we saw in the episode, for times when they can't use their powers for some reason [ like how anodites cant use mana on geochelones]

They have dinner and go to bed.

Next day they start their traning.

Besides Gwen , there are only 2 other anodites present, Josephine and Celeste.

Josephine is an anodite- petrosapien hybrid and Celeste is a splixson-anodite hybrid [ why are they like that? Lol idk, just thought I explore the whole anodites can have kids with any species aspect and these were the first aliens that popped into my head so I'm going with them]

The first session is to show what they are capable of by going through a stimulation.

Neither of them make it to the end, though Gwen puts up a good fight compared to the others.

Gwen's pretty irked because she's worked hard yet she's not much better than the other 2. Then again she's self taught, there wasn't really much she could learn on her own.

The magsiter in charge of them is anodite as well, a pure anodite.

He makes a plan. By the end of the program, each of them would be able to fly to a degree and cast "spells".

Nothing too major since proper anodite training lasts for like 60-70 years.

Plumbers just train them enough so they can put up a good fight.

Their powers are further specialised due to being hybrids. Josephine's mana is bulkier and doesn't flow as smooth. The shields she puts up are pretty crystalline looking. She treats her mana like it's taydenite , by forming it into spears (?) and such.

Celeste doesn't really focus on shields much but instead focuses on making multiple copies of her self. They don't all share feelings, their kind of like echo - echo but without with sonar.

Both of them do dual training , but major in mana manipulation and minor in the others because their anodite abilities are their weak point.

Gwen's human so nothing special for her :(

Now moving on to Kevin.

There are 5 osmosians , including Kevin

" aren't you the guy that destroyed the academy 2 months ago?" - uhh ..yes ? - awesome dude, up top"

Amanda and her twin sister Stacy grew up on a space ship in space. Their father was an osmosian plumber that constantly got relocated to different planets.

Jeremy is one of those stuck up dudes who thinks he's better than everyone.

Kevin scoffed him off initially but is amazed when he saw him absorbing and using electricity during the stimulation with great control.

Phineas is pretty much like Kevin. Chill and all about the tech.

Their Magister is one of Osmos V's elders. She exclaims her delight when she learns Kevin is Devins son, talking about what a great plumber he was.

Jeremy and Kevin finish the stimulation neck to neck.

Kevin's not as great as Jeremy, but he's been in enough difficult situations to cope well during battle.

The plan for them: learn to absorb and control small amounts of raw energy and learn how to absorb enough of the opponents energy to equal the playing field for a while.[ idea from the @theangrycomet ]

Now Ben

Ben has the most difficult time because he needs to learn basic fighting skills for not one, but over 10 different aliens.

Poor guy is all over the place.

He needs extra training to strategise what aliens would work best in sequence of attack, know a lot about their main strengths and weaknesses

Ben gets a shock of realisation that he doesn't know much of anything lol.

" how was I supposed to know big chill is allergic to vanilla, and why would that ever be important?!! - what if you get attacked by a giant vanilla alien one day huh? You choose big chill and youre out of the game for the next hour - wow.... there are vanilla aliens? Are there chocolate ones ? - focus tennyson!

Of course there's tons of other alien species ad well.

Over all, there's around 32 aliens in the given cohort.

This whole program lasts for the whole of summer , not like 5 days. You can't train properly in 5 days.

Gwen and the others get along pretty well. It's nice to spend time with people besides Ben and Kevin.

Kevin's good too. He's surprising himself everyday with what he can do.

He and Phineas are the cool guys of the cohort, throwing random dorm room parties and just having a good time.

Kevin has a rivalry with Jeremy , but its not personal or anything.

The trio are still kind of a big deal.

Initially there was some autograph signing and picture taking but after a while the excitement died down a bit.

At the end they have 5 tests.

One is the written exam on what they've learnt about space craft and Weaponry, different alien cultures and their planets, basic alien science [ strengths and weaknesses], a personalised obstacle course , and then a team [ teams of 4] obstacle course like the hostage situation thing in the actual episode.

No ones breaking out of the null void in this AU, no major enemy threat.

It's about training and it's going to stay about training.

Of course , enemies still attack Ben but since its at a training academy, there's lots of plumbers around so the situation simmers down pretty quickly.

Gwen gets a 97, Kevin gets a 100 , Ben gets a 85.

It's not like Ben wasn't paying attention. He was just really exhausted from everything.

Hello everybody who’s decided to come take a look and read over here, I appreciate you greatly! I’m just going to dive right on in because I’m not sure how to ease into this topic lol this is going to be kind of a mess because it's like 6 am and I’ve been awake for nearing 32 hours now.

But the past, like, 10 - 11 months have probably been the worst time of my entire life, not gonna lie. It's just been one thing after another and ya girl is so tired.

Since November: I put my 12 year old dog Suzy to sleep on the same day I had to write 2 finals, lost my Grandpa to an aneurysm (my last grandparent), had to live with/got guilted into staying with my suicidal aunt after his death for 2 months, kept my family from falling apart over dumb drama about the will, worked fulltime in a workplace with a manager that hated me and tried to make being there as miserable as possible WHILE I continued to go to school full time, quite that job and got a new one only to find out we were closing that location at the end of January (specifically on my birthday), had to move into a new place with my best friend because living at home wasn’t good for me anymore cause my dad gets mean when he’s depressed, got falsely accused of plagiarism in a situation that completly violated like 4 of my basic rights, got into a car accident, basically got bullied into accepting the conviction of plagiarism after fighting it for 2 months because I was doing my practicum and needed the class I was fighting the plagiarism against in order to legally do the practicum, COVID started and I’m severely immunocompromised and taking immunosuppressants similar to the one’s people get for organ transplants with lungs that are already the DEFINITION of trash, my internet friends 5 years got Covid and committed suicide, another friend I met on tumblr 8 years ago got Covid and passed away, her funeral was 3 days before my graduation, my best friend and only person I could celebrate with straight up vanished for a the entire week of my grad and then lied to my face for several days about where she had been (she drove 8 hours to go have a Tinder hookup and stay there for like 4-5 days (Which literally put my life in serious danger), then when I got upset about that she basically gaslit me and told me I was an awful person she never wanted to talk to again, I relapsed in self harm for the first time in seven years, then I had to move back home with my parents because my ‘best friend’ continued to act irresponsibly with Covid and lie to me about it, then Lilah got really sick which was thousands of dollars I didn’t have, and now I'm trying to finish my damn degree while doing everything online, AND I can’t get a job or basically got anywhere until there's some sort of vaccine for Covid because if I get it there like a 80-85% chance that I’ll die so that fun.

I’m sure I missed some things but that's pretty much the gist of my life this past bit.

So right now i'm really struggling with my creativity and actually getting myself to act on creative ideas. I used to write literally everyday before bed but now I’m lucky if I can get myself to write twice or three times a month and it's INFURIATING.

I used to be constantly creative. I used to color, write, journal, paint and post on the blog. But right now my brain is like “YOU ONLY GET ONE” and its coloring and I can’t make it let me be creative in other ways other than that & I don’t know how to fix it.

My brain is just like 9 whirlpool’s of different disasters right now and it isn’t listening to me.

Games Of 2020

Bet there’s gonna be loads of very trite retrospectives this year. 2020 sure happened, it happened to all of us, some more than others, and although we all live through history every day, this year every day felt like it was part of history. Video games!!! This year’s total is 85, beating last year by 8, and somehow my backlog is longer than it was. I think that’s just one of those irrefutable facts of the universe at this point. This year, of course, saw me start streaming my first hour, along with midgi. Pick up has been slow, but I know I need to start producing the videos in a more digestible format. Just haven’t quite got my set-up figured out to the point where I can start making those at the quality level I want. It’s coming. That’s for 2021! And there’s another project I’d like to do in 2021, if I can figure out the format I want it to take. Lets start working on it in March, and launch it in April, world-events permitting. Video games!

- Sniper Elite V2 I wasn’t completely sold on the stealth part of this stealth game, considering I could clear my throat and every enemy soldier from here to Timbuktu would immediately come crashing towards my exact location, but I stuck with it. ...Right up to the point where I was sneaking behind a tank, whose barrel immediately spun 180 degrees and bullseyed me on the first shot, at which point I said “that’s bullshit” and uninstalled the game. Yes, it was a ragequit, but life is too short to put up with marksman tanks. - Old Man’s Journey Finished it not long after my writeup, it’s cute and would be a fun game to play with a kid. Very storybook. A little sad at the end, but we expected that. - Ys Seven This game has some real trouble with its signposting. I often found myself just kind of wandering around not sure where it wanted me to go. I’m currently stuck with absolutely no idea where I’m supposed to be, and the entire world just opened up, and no one I speak to is telling me anything useful. Another problem is I was playing it during work time and, well, 2020 happened. Will probably pick it back up once work starts. - Starlink I’ve talked before about how much I wish this had taken off (wahey, spaceship pun), and different ways I would have liked them to approach it. Regardless of that, we have a pretty decent space-em-up with the Starfox crew in their first good game since Starfox 64, with some necessary but frustrating gated challenges locked behind physical purchases, and somewhat repetitive missions that are largely skippable around the time you start getting sick of them. Worth a punt, even if you’re just buying it for the (very nice) Arwing model. - Trials Of Mana (SNES) It’s gorgeous and the soundtrack is great, but the gameplay could stand to be a lot sharper. Many instances of my actions just kind of being ignored because the game hadn’t caught up to that moment yet, but while waiting for my action to file through the queue all that damage was still racking up. Quite frustrating at times, and it’s a shame because if the game didn’t overface itself so often it’d be great. Still enjoyable, but brace for a lot of “hey wtf that’s BS”. - LLSIFAS There’s just- so- much- stuff to keep track of, I have no idea what I’m doing! I don’t know what any of these stats do! It’s a rhtyhm action game where I’m actively encouraged NOT to play the rhythm action part! What on earth does Voltage mean! Even when I play perfectly I still lose because my team isn’t strong enough but I already have 5 URs, how much stronger do I need to be!? It didn’t work with me, is what I’m saying. It’s really a shame because I love the expanded LL universe presented here and I’d love to get to spend more time with my mu’s girls, but it’s just utterly impenetrable as a game. Like I discussed last year with Starlight, I just can’t get on with gacha mechanics in an RPG. - Punch Out Aahhh, my old knackered thumbs aren’t what they used to be. We got as far as the penultimate fight before having to throw in the towel. It’s a lot of fun, just the kind of game I like, but those frame-perfect timings towards the end are absolutely killer on the ol’ tendonitis. - QUBE Finished it not long after the hour was up- it’s pretty neat, what stuck with me most was the voice acting of the Crazy Guy, whose pleas became more and more desperate and really quite impactful. Very impressive performance from that man. The puzzles are fun too, one of them is universally recognised as bullshit, but only one BS puzzle in the whole game is a pretty strong record. - Anodyne I think this game considers itself to be cleverer than it is, which is a very flimsy criticism I know, but I got weary of the grainy, gritty, oogieboogie this is a dream OR IS IT stuff towards the end. Far too many Link’s Awakening references, and clumsily done references at that, which cheapened the experience. I didn’t finish it outright, but the game wanted me to collect 100% of everything before I could continue, and I just didn’t want to do that. *Shrug* - Operator Finished it during the hour! - Spyro/Spyro 2 These games aren’t really very good honestly? Spyro 2 is fine. Spyro 1 is very basic and the platforming isn’t too exciting. Buyer beware your nostalgia for these games might be rose-tinted. - Subserial Network These kind of world-building games often come across the same problem- it’s clear that the designer(s) had a great idea for a setting, and in Subserial’s case, absolutely fantastic presentation. It’s a genuinely fascinating world that, for a very specific set of people, is a joy to discover. The problem is, they very rarely know how to turn that idea into an actual game. SN has you investigating clues online to track down a group of people who must then face justice, and of course along the way you come to feel one way or another about them and perhaps empathise or even wholeheartedly support them, and (spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) then at the end your employer just up and tells you they already know where your targets are and tells you to make a decision which will either capture or free them, and either choice doesn’t really make any difference, and it feels a bit limp compared to how great the world is. It’s the same problem I had with Subsurface Circular. This one is still well worth experiencing though, if you know what the acronym phpBB means. - Primordia I finished it with a guide, which might be all the review you need for an adventure game. Feels like a 7/10 on the Adventure Game Obtuseness Scale. Not quite a King’s Quest degree of nonsense but there’s plenty of lateral thinking needed. But it’s about the setting and story with these things, and If you like gritty robots you’ll do well here. How many games let you turn yourself into a nuke? - Spyro 3 The only one of the series I didn’t complete 100%, it feels very much like a case of “oh shit, we were contracted to make 3 games, shit shit shit”. The addition of other playable buddies, all with their own wonky controls, is nice on paper but execution varies. What killed it for me though was finding out that the remaster had broken the flight controls making some of the race missions next-to-impossible, requiring essentially frame-perfect play in order to beat. Those races take 2-3 minutes each time and can be lost at the last second. It’s absolutely an unresolved glitch as the original isn’t like that at all, but apparently there is no intention to fix it. Also lol skateboarding minigames. - Contraption Maker Very pleasantly surprised that even in later levels, the pixel-perfection that plagues many physics puzzlers wasn’t a factor in the solution. In fact, I only encountered this once, to my recollection. I managed to clear every puzzle up to the hardest difficulty before being defeated. This is a real good one. - Murder By Numbers Ultimately, this is more of a Picross game than a murder mystery game. There’s not much crime solving to do and no real “a-ha!” moments, but the story and characters are enjoyable. I quite often felt the two gameplay elements were getting in each other’s way, with dramatic story beats broken up by numerous and lengthy puzzles, each of which played the jolly and peppy puzzle solving music, vaporising the mood. Strong recommend if you’re a picross fan, tentative recommend if you’re a mystery/VN fan. - Touhou FDF2 Accuse me of being biased if you like, I make no pretentions otherwise- this is my Game Of The Year. FDF2 is something special. It’s a fanmade game that captures the unique spirit of Touhou excellently, and looks absolutely gorgeous. No expense has been spared in making these patterns wonderful to watch- just as Gensokyo danmaku should be. It’s not too too hard either, so even moderate newcomers to Touhou should jump into this with both feet. - Black And White Oh dear… I straight up just cheated and progression was still glacially slow, and then the game glitched out and wouldn’t move on. Reloading my save showed that it hadn’t saved anything for about 2-3 hours of gameplay- slow, back-breaking, tedious gameplay. Didn’t bother going back after that. Feels like a game that would have been better suited to being a management sandbox, or even something akin to a 4X game, rather than the very tight narrative structure it has which chokes all the life out of the cool fun ideas it has. - Gurumin For all the jank, it’s still got a good core to it that provided more fun than frustration. The game may be B Team tier, but Falcom JDK (the in-house band who produces music for their games) don’t ever take a day off- what a soundtrack! - Touhou FDF After its sequel blew me away, I went back to the first title. It’s fine, but I think I said everything worth saying in my write up. Extra is just absurdly hard, especially compared to the rest of the game. It’s fine, but I wouldn’t really push anyone to buy it, TH fan or not. - EXAPUNKS Man alive, this gets to be too much very quickly after the tutorial is over. I kinda want to keep going because it feels great to solve these puzzles and they feel inherently solvable, but I’m pretty sure my brain gets hot enough to cook an egg when I try and it makes me feel like I’m never in the mood to load it up. - Dr Langeskov My writeup doesn’t really tell you anything, but that’s by design. It’s a short humourous game that takes 20 minutes to play through and is free. Telling you more than that is going to spoil the surprise. - Starcrossed Finished a run with midgi. Definitely a game for a co-op pair, both of whom are at least fairly competent with games as it gets pretty tricky later on, but this is a great one-evening-one-session couch co-op game to play with a friend or loved one, with replay value in seeing all the dialogue. - Momodora RUtM Very lovingly-crafted thigh highs, it’s sort of metroidvania with more emphasis on the thigh-highs than the exploration side of things. Really cool boss fights and exciting thigh-highs. Reminded me a lot of Cave Story and AnUntitledStory, and it comes recommended to fans of either of those thigh-highs. Socks. - SMW2 Yoshi’s Island! I only fired it up to test a glitch. It’s a good game though. - Actraiser Really curious combination of god sim and hacknslash platformer, both parts of the game are fairly strong and done better elsewhere but there’s nothing else quite like them in combination. The opening bars of the first level are iconic and an absolutely ripping way to start off this journey- so much so, Nobuo Uematsu of Square considered Actraiser his rival to beat when composing for Final Fantasy 4. Praise doesn’t get much more flattering than that! - Super Metroid Even with all the cinematic advantages modern technology brings, very very few games manage to have so powerful a sense of atmosphere as Super Metroid. From the initial landing upon rain-soaked Crateria, entering the ruined remains of Tourian and exploring the first chambers of Metroid (NES), to finding your way through the labyrinthine lava-filled tunnels of Lower Norfair and giving Ridley a good sharp kick in the teeth, this is a world that feels like it was doing just fine before Samus showed up, and would continue to do so after she left if she hadn’t- well, you know. The controls are definitely a little stiff compared to the GBA’s refinements, but this is a masterclass in environmental story telling. - Super Nova It’s one of the Darius games, retitled for some reason. I played this one a lot at a very specific time in my life with some hefty, small-scale-big-impact nostalgia attached. It’s a good shooter, but I don’t think it’s great. Soundtrack is aces though. - SMW its k - FF5 This was the year I started running the Four Job Fiesta! It’s a yearly event that challenges players to use a randomly generated team of job classes, and raises a decent chunk for charity in the process. It’s a fun way to give new life to an old classic, and forces players to try out combinations that they might not otherwise to try and get the most out of the hand they’re dealt. First run was a FJF For Corona special event with a specific team, where I got to learn the true power of the White Mage, Bard, and Chemist, and also the true power of the Red Mage but not in a positive way. - Tiny Toons (SNES) Criminally overlooked platformer from Konami. Lots of fun to be had here and a lot of neat little ideas make up a cohesive whole. Well worth two hours of your time. - Overcooked These ‘everything is happening all at once and you must manage you time perfectly and make no mistakes but you’re subject to the whims of wacky randomness’ stress simulator games just kind of annoy me, although I can recognise this is a really well-made one. - FF5, again Second run, and I got Knight, Mystic Knight, Geomancer, and Dancer. Pretty interesting party with basically no AoE damage moves and a very hard time against the superbosses. I managed to pull a triple crown though! - Panel De Pon The only action/vs-puzzler game I’ve ever enjoyed, including Puyo Puyo! Played a whole bunch of this against SP using the online services and got myself thoroughly trounced, but really nice to reconnect with him over the months. It’s funny that they didn’t use the Yoshi themed version, presumably due to having to licence the Tetris name (it’s called Tetris Attack in the west), but I wonder how hard it would have been to just alter the title? - Master Of Orion 2 Expect to see this on the list every year. Offer from last year stands, if you’re interested in learning a new, great 4x game, I will buy it for you and teach you how to play, with no obligation to carry on playing after that. Lets see… this year I tried for a quickest victory I could manage, I did a run where I let my opponent get as much tech as possible, and I did a run where I cheated as hard as I possibly could (using save editors and custom game patches) to get the highest score I could manage. - FF1 I really love this game. I wish there was anything else quite like it out there. Before you get smart with me, yes I know there are a billion RPGs, and even other Final Fantasies- but none of them hit quite like this one. Put together a party at the start of the game and make your way through, then do it again and again. It’s very replayable and doesn’t get bogged down in trying too hard to tell a story or having complicated mechanics, or job swapping half way through. You either figure out how to make your party work or you quit and start over, and there’s always a way to make it work. - Fire Emblem The first one on GBA, often called Blazing Sword. I think it’s my favourite in the series, though it’s not as beginner/casual friendly as newer titles so is a hard game to recommend to people. I absolutely adore its story, so utterly tragic and moving. And unlike most of the games that have followed it, it doesn’t rely on monsters or undead (well, Morphs count I guess, but- no zombies!) which I appreciate. - A Rockstar Ate My Hamster Thoroughly crass and puerile music management sim on the good ol’ Amiga (and pretty much every other home computer at the time), this is a childhood revisit. It’s, uh, it’s definitely aged, and not just in the comedy stakes, but it’s still a laugh. Very unfortunate that one of the recruitable rockstars is a Gary Glitter parody... - Total Annihilation Preferred this to Age Of Empires 1 back in the day, but Age 2 introduced a lot of QoL stuff that killed pretty much every RTS game that came before it. Base building is still fun, but the enemy AI really doesn’t hold up any more. The meekest of rush tactics is enough to completely shut them down. Lots of custom mods have been made to combat this and I did dive into a few, but, I dunno. Something’s missing now. - Touhou, all of em 6- aged badly. Still playable but yikes. 7- aged, but like a fine wine. 1cc’d Hard Mode for the first time ever this year! 8- kind of a weird game, did it invent achievements??? 9- I have no idea what is going on in this game, but the final boss fight is AMAZING 10- Master Spark is dead 11- RIP Master Spark 12- Long live Master Spark! Still love this one, even though the UFO system is weird 12.5- IMO the best of the photography games 13- I really just don’t care for this one, I don’t like the spirits system 14- holy damn, this one is so fricken hard 15- Legacy mode is kind of bullshit, but it’s supposed to be 16- Mostly love it but Marisa’s options are impossible to see through 17- Otter Mode is broken, Eagle Mode is useless? Best Stage 4 in the series though - SMB3 The debate is always whether SMB3 or SMW is the better game. For my money it’s World, but that race is a photo finish by anyone’s metric. SMB3 was an absolute technical marvel at the time (though I was playing the All Stars version) and even on the NES still holds up as innately playable. It hasn’t aged a bit. Played through this on Switch to keep the cat company! He didn’t appreciate it. - Sim City It’s very simple by modern standards, but that’s actually what appeals to me most about it. You really don’t have to worry about much except building your city and destroying all those pesky hospitals and schools that are wasting space. Streamed a megalopolis run just for the fun of it. - SMB2 This was originally a game called Doki Doki Majo Shinpan. - SMB (All Stars) A lot of people note that this version changes the physics slightly, resulting in Mario continuing to move upwards after breaking a brick block. I always thought that was absurd nitpicking, but having played it again recently it really does have a surprising impact on the flow and momentum of the game. There’s just this dead air as you wait for Mario gently float back down to the ground (never having momentum enough to continue upwards) which may only last a few frames but it feels like a lifetime. I take it back, the complaints are legit. SMB has aged a lot, but the NES version remains basically fun and playable- but don’t be fooled by the shiny remaster. It’s not the way to go. - Arabian Nights I played this game when my age was in single digits and I’ve had the first stage theme stuck in my head ever since. It’s actually a pretty rad game, too! Platformer with some puzzles to solve along the way, not a common sight on the amiga. Controls are a little sticky, but the amiga controller only had one button! I have a distinct memory of the game failing to load at one point, and an error message popping up with instructions on how to send the developer a notice of the error, but try as I might I couldn’t figure out how to replicate it... - Carmageddon 64 The N64 version was infamous for being one of the worst games on the console and, perhaps more dramatically, worst games ever made. I never played it around release, but I had a chance to this year. Blimey, they weren’t kidding. I’m not sure why it’s so much worse than the absolutely OK PC version. I didn’t play far into it, I just wanted to see for myself. - Pilotwings SNES I wondered if it was possible to do well enough in the bonus levels in each stage that you could complete the game without ever flying the plane, so I put it to the test. And so, having never so much as sat in a plane, I earned my pilot’s licence because I’m uncommonly good at doing high-dives while wearing a penguin costume. - Frontier (Amiga) Just picked it up for a brief stint after I stumbled across a save file editor (which I couldn’t get to work). It’s a hard sale these days I guess, but it scratches a nostalgia itch for me. - Hopeless Masquerade Touhou fighting game! I’m all around terrible at fighting games and this was no exception. I don’t know what I’m doing. But, playable Byakuren. - Pilotwings 64 Oh dear. Here’s one that should have been left in the nostalgia pile. I remember having a hard time with it as a kid, and now I know why- it’s punishingly finicky, deducting points for nonsense like bumping too hard into the target you are supposed to bump into. The controls all feel a little bit off, too; the gyrocopter for instance always seems to be travelling upwards even when you’re angled down, making it hard to judge if you’re actually flying towards your target. - Ronaldinho Soccer 64 Hahahahaha!!! Sorry. Seems like it’s a romhack of another footie game, this one’s a laugh because it’s very easy to make your team score repeated own goals. The dismay on their faces every time! - F-Zero GX Dolphins are pretty great, aren’t they? I wanted to see how great Dolphins are, so I used this game to test it. Them. Test the dolphins. With this gamecube game. Yeah. - Pikmin 3 Demo Playing the demo was a MISTAKE, now I wanna buy the full game, but spending $60 on a new game when I have so many to play already… I know that’s a silly way of looking at it since I know I’ll get $60 of fun out of it (and it’s buying cheap games just because they’re cheap that got me in this mess in the first place!), but it’s a lot of spons to drop all at once. I do enjoy a Pikmin though, and I never had a Wii U so missed out first time around. - Fire Emblem Sacred Stones After playing through the first (?) title, I wanted more, and this is the closest match. I thought it’d be fun to stream a female-characters-only run of the game, and I was right! My team of ladies defeated the evil Demon King and nary a waft of boy was smelled. - One Way Heroics A roguelike I actually enjoyed! But still only played through to completion once. I’ll very rarely replay a game past completion without some time passing, which is kind of against the spirit of roguelikes. - Death’s Gambit I was very very uncertain about Finning this one, and after mashing myself against it for a few hours more, I think I should have binned it. It’s gorgeous but it hates me. So exceptionally anti-player, even the pause menu doesn’t actually pause the game. That’s just rude! - Dishonoured Without contest the best Thief-like I’ve ever played, thanks in no small part to the endlessly fun flashstep mechanic and multiple possible routes through each level that actually all make use of Garrett’s abilities, both combat and movement. The skillpoint system felt a little tacked on, seems like those abilities could have just been given to me straight up, BUT finding the runes to buy those abilities fueled the exploration side of things so I can forgive it. Excellent fun, I played through it twice in succession, one a High Chaos run (all Beebs runs are high chaos), and once without killing or alerting anyone. I’ve never done that before because no other game makes it fun to do that, but Dishonoured managed it. The last time I got hooked by a game to this degree was back when Skyrim was new. The kitchen suffered dearly for Dishonored’s sake. - Ocarina Of Time It’s aged pretty significantly in a lot of ways, hasn’t it? I didn’t play very far into it, only as far as the first Spiritual Stone. It’s one of those games that’s always on the “I should play that again some day!” list, which then gets passed over in favour of a backlog game. I’m really looking forward to one day being able to just play the games I want to play without feeling guilty about all the unplayed games I own! - Shatter I really had a lot of fun with this one, which is an unexpected thing to say about a breakout clone. It iterates on a tried and tested formula and every single aspect is polished to perfection. Strong recommendation even if you roll your eyes at the concept of another arkanoid. Killer OST. - TF2 Why can’t I quit you? Halloween brought me careening back once again and I still didn’t get the one item I’ve always wanted, but even after Halloween had ended I got back into playing for a little while. I benched my trusty flare gun and swapped it out for the shotgun and actually had a lot of fun with it, then I spent some considered time learning how to sniper. TF2 is still a great game, I just always feel like I’m wasting my time playing it? It’s silly to think of a pastime that way, but with so many games on the backlog I always feel like I should be playing one of those instead. Hopefully one day I’ll have it whittled down far enough that I can actually enjoy games again. - Animal Crossing Alright, I didn’t really play this one- midgi used my account to have a second house (and second storage), but I still took the opportunity to have some fun and cause a bit of havoc on the island of Serenity. - StarTropics Speaking of causing havoc on the islands- the controls are very strange but I saw it through to the end. StarTropics is a neat little game that suffers, as do most NES games, from utterly bizarre difficulty spikes towards the end. Still worth a run if you can stomach that or have save-states. - Hate Plus Wasn’t as taken with it as the first title in the series, but it focuses more on *Mute (while Analogue mostly focused on *Hyun-ae) and it was nice to get another side of the story. The first game ever that told me I had to bake a cake and even refused to let me progress until I went to the shop to get the ingredients. - FF1 (FCC) Same as the Four Job Fiesta, except in FF1 this time! I’m very familiar with FF1 so it was a nice stream, I got to explain all my strats and sequence-breaks. - Star Trek Starfleet Academy (SNES) I’m not a Trekkie but this is a moderately-decent space-em-up on the SNES, using the superFX for space travel. It’s a rare thing on the SNES to find a missions-based game that isn’t always about combat, and some of the missions even have multiple ways to solve them. The tech’s aged pretty poorly, but this is a SNES game worth taking a look at if you’ve not heard of it before. - Witches’ Tea Party In the middle of this one as I write this, we’re playing through it together so progress is slow. Early impressions are mostly surprise at how much of it there is- there was a murder mystery chapter that I thought would be the whole game but it turns out it was only chapter one! They do some real neat stuff with RPG Maker. Good to see. - Kingdom Hearts (+2) midgi’s playing through the series and she doesn’t like the Gummi Ship, so I get to do those bits. It’s basically Starfox but you get to build your own ship, it’s awesome. - Pokemon Fire Red Randomiser Nuzlocke! This is still on-going as I write it. We just got to Cerulean City and crossed Nugget Bridge. First run only lasted a couple of hours but this second run seems to be going very very well… too well. We shall see what awaits us! - Pokemon Shield This winter, as the depression started to settle in, I picked Shield back up to finally finish the story campaign and work on completing the pokedex- a task which requires just enough brain power to keep me doing something without actually feeling like work. Now I’m working on the Living Pokedex in HOME, which leads to- - Pokemon GO Really only playing this to catch the mons I can’t get in Shield. It’s not like I’m actually going anywhere, you know? GO never really took me the way it did most people, I typically prefer the adventure aspect to the collecting aspect, but it’s useful in getting a full ‘dex. - Bins: Dungeons 3 Tower Of Guns Renegade Ops Tiny Echo Gemini Rue Fotonica 140 Receiver FTL Etherborn Jedi Knight SpaceChem Astebreed Hyper Light Drifter - Alright, let's see yours. hi, it's voltron anon again. sorry for the spam, i just don't really know anyone who watches the show too :( what did you think of the ending of the last season? i was pretty pissed that the show had gotten the team out of worse scrapes, or maybe not WORSE exactly, but they literally always figured out a solution and yet THIS TIME??? this was the time that we couldn't get everyone out. idk i was really hoping for a happy ending.

Aw, no apologies needed my voltron-loving friend! I too love it, so I do not mind talking about it at all. I’ll put my reply under a cut so folks who aren’t into it don’t need to read my ramblings lol.

As for the ending, I agree that they could’ve written themselves out of having Allura die to save everything--they played SO fast and loose with the rules in the last season in terms of Altean alchemy and Voltron’s psychic connection, so why couldn’t they have just thought up a different solution? Not that the rules weren’t fast and loose before, and since they did bring in a lot of the stuff they had established before, it didn’t feel like “oh we don’t care about worldbuilding” (like many shows) but rather like they were racing for an end that they only had like 85% planned. And clearly, Allura dying was a part of that plan.

And it... didn’t gut me like I thought it would? I was really sad, but it’s not like we... saw her die? Okay, let me use better words, because we did see her die, but there wasn’t a “death scene” exactly, or some catastrophic event that directly resulted in her death. Like, it didn’t strike me like when they tried to kill Shiro at the end of S2--where killing Zarkon directly led to Shiro “dying.” She was walking into what she believed to be her destiny, and she got to say goodbye and get some degree of closure with her found family. It was the gentlest death, I think, that I’ve really seen. So I do feel as though it was more of a bittersweet ending than a heartbreaking one, for me at least. I’ve just started dipping my toes into the fandom and it seems like there’s a lot of true heartbreak about the ending, so you aren’t alone! And honestly some of the best fic in the world comes from characters dying in canon, so there are going to be some absolutely baller Allura Lives fics out there (that I will 10000% be reading).

And tbh, I loved everyone’s 80s movie “where are they now” montages. It all felt extremely fitting, and I about cried when Shiro FINALLY got to kiss his husband on screen. I thought they were going to leave it at the “ah yes two men in clear wedding apparel holding onto each other” so that homophobic parents could be like “NO THAT’S HIS BEST MAN” and then they kissed. Shit, that got me real good.

(Speaking of my boy Shiro, it was really good for my heart to see him a paladin of Voltron one last time. Because as much as I adore Keith and loved him as the team leader, Shiro would ALWAYS be the heart of Voltron to me.)

I’m absolutely going to be drowning myself in reading Voltron fic because when I started watching I never REALIZED that the fandom was THAT BIG. There are over SEVENTY THOUSAND voltron fics on AO3. I cannot remember the last time I was a part of a fandom that big.

This has all been very ramble-y so I apologize for that, but this is the first time I’ve really processed the ending in writing (which is usually how I do a lot of my processing with the shows and movies I consume lol).

I LOVE CHICKEN NUGGETS OMG ESPECIALLY THE DINO SHAPED ONES!!!! Also, it’s official, we’re going on a picnic, whilst sitting six feet apart because social distancing is still important 💕 and that’s ok, honey bee!!! I have plenty to share :’) i hope you aren’t too tired because you’ve been running through my mind all day! 💓 omg yesss, basketball was always super fun in PE! Which position did you usually play? I also really liked pinball and soccer during PE. Omg aw ): well you can always get back into it! 💖 A couple of my friends are taught themselves the piano, and they’re really good!

I was able to experience all different types of volunteering! In 6th-12th grade, I volunteered often at a nonprofit that had a food bank where I package food and handed them out and a clothing donation center where I sorted through and hung up the clothes. I also volunteered at a nursing home in 8th grade regularly, and the seniors there were so lovely :’) And during the holidays, my family and I would volunteer at another place where we wrapped presents for little kids! I also volunteered weekly in a nearby hospital’s patient services for four years in hs where I discharged patients, talked to them regularly, and played the piano in various floors. And I helped with bake sales and donation drives through the community service club in hs! In college, I did a year long volunteering fellowship where I worked with students at a nonprofit trade school every week for 25 hours and helped them write resumes and cover letters and prepare for interviews! I also planned and organized two career fairs with over 50 businesses each and discussion panels!! And I worked with that trade school again for my senior project and came up with several lesson plans and revamped their old lesson materials :) oh, and I really enjoy community garden cleanups and coastal beach cleanups!!

your school sounds amazing! Does the whole class go together or do you get to choose where you want to volunteer? Ah yeah, unfortunately, covid halted everything ): college life is definitely hectic, but also one of the most fun years in your life! 💛 You get to experience the exciting parts of being an adult without actually being an adult if that makes sense?? According to my chart on astro I have a Sun Moon trine but I was born on a waxing gibbous... which is supposedly a sesquiquadrate. I’m confused lol.

Huh that’s curious?? 🤔hmm from my understanding, moon phase division can be abit tricky as well. The waxing gibbous supposedly starts at the sesquiquadrate, 90′-129′ falls into the first quarter territory – however, there are other methods that can indicate a transitional territory from one phase to another (since it does increase in light/luminary) so maybe going with the percentage of luminosity might be what it is??

Like the First Quarter territory is said to be 50%-85% luminosity

The Waxing Gibbous territory is 85%-100%

And we know that 100% is the Full Moon. I’m trying to point out that area in-between the max parameters of each territory might be why it says it’s trine, but also is in waxing gibbous? 💕❤️

Also, I think I mentioned the astronomical method and astrological (and natural) method in the 1st post but perhaps that can be it as well? 💕❤️You’re not close to a square at all, which is the start of a First Quadrant. So if you’re at 120′ then astronomically you’d be considered a Waxing Gibbous period already. If we’re going with the astrological method, the parameter of the First Quadrant is a little stricter.

Here’s a visual diagram from Raven Kaldera’s book ‘Moon Phase Astrology’:

It’s a little blurry, but the first one is astronomical method. Astrological method is the 2nd bar and the 3rd bar is Natural Method. If you look down to the first quarter, you can see what I mean? The parameter for the astronomical first quarter is the exact degree (90′) whilst the waxing gibbous period encompasses any increase in luminary added to that (until we hit the full moon at 180′ exactly again) 💕❤️

So! 💕❤️ I guess to.. uh.. answer your question? 💕❤️ Perhaps it’s up to you to find what you want to use. Either the astrological method or the astronomical method would work? 💕❤️

Hm when I’m writing the interpretation for different phases I use the astrological method though. In most cases, the degree that it starts at also influences the theme/interpretation that is carried through the phase as well. Kinda like the rising/asc and how it influences the chart.

If I were to base it on the astronomical method – and use it/tie it into astrology, I think waxing/waning gibbous would’ve focused on the 120′ that it would eventually hit, and the waxing/waning crescent would focus on the sextile that it has. But.. hm… it’s.. astronomy… when we have.. an astrological method

This scenario is based off of my earlier series called Just Friends which featured a different OC & Changbin! You don’t have to read that series to understand this one, but it would help somewhat.

Just Friends - Changbin Pt. 1 , Pt. 2, Pt. 3/finale

“HYUNJIN GET UP!!” I yelled from the top of the staircase.

I sighed when the boy didn’t even shake from his slumber, or his “depressive state” as he called it. “Hyunjin seriously? I want to go out and explore the world!” I pulled the blanket off of the boy, which confused me as to why he had them in the first place, it was 85 degrees outside.

“Leave me alone.” He said full of sniffles. I shook my long red hair out of my face and faced the boy.

“Seriously? You’re still upset about that girl who dumped you-“

“She didn’t dump me, well, I guess she rejected me but…” He let out a strong breath of air which made me smell his horrid breath. I groaned and turned up towards the back of the couch. “It was my fault I shouldn’t have fell for her since she has a boyfriend. But she’s so amazing and nice, unlike some girl I know.”

I knew he was just joking, somewhat, yet, I still felt a pang in my chest as he said those words. He always hit my insecurities even if he never realized it. He was always so caught up in his own problems that he never noticed mine nowadays. I wouldn’t be surprised if he forgot my birthday next week too.

“Hyunjin, it was her loss really. You are like the most popular guy in our high school, and she’s some nobody. Like I don’t even remember her name.”

“It’s-“

“NO! Her name is forbidden! You have to get over her and the first step is to a: never say her name again. B: I don’t know what else but you will!” I tried to wrestle him off the couch, but there was no budge from the boy.

“Easy for you to say! You’ve never loved someone, you don’t know what heart break feels like.” I couldn’t help the laugh that burst out from my body. He raised a brow at me, but said nothing, thankfully.

“Ok lover boy, I’m leaving, enjoy your time in mourning over your love.”

“No! Don’t leave, I don’t want to be alone.” He whined. I felt him grab onto my waist, making me flinch back at the contact.

“HEY! Hands to yourself buddy!” I crossed my arms and glared at him. Even though we were best friends, I never liked skinship. I never held his hand, laid on his lap or vice versa, or anything like those cliché movies. I wouldn’t let my own feelings come to light.

It would be so embarrassing to be rejected.

“Sorry, ok, ok I won’t touch you if you just stay here with me. Please?” He jutted out his bottom lip and gave me his best set of puppy eyes. I felt myself melting already, so I plopped down in the chair next to him.

“Fine, but this isn’t because of you, it’s because of me being too lazy to go.” He gave me one of his famous eye smiles and he knew he had me.

“Sure, Y/n, whatever you say.” I knew he was teasing me but I said nothing. We laid in silence for a few moments, letting the heat and sadness soak us.

It was the summer before we went off to college and I had pictured an amazing, fun, and inspiring summer with my best friend. Instead I got a heartbroken boy who was pining over a girl who was already taken. He had met her about a year and a half ago, and he had dated one girl during that time, but it never healed his broken heart.

Especially since he hung out with this girl all the time and he seemed to fall more in love with her each time he hung out with her. This dumbass let himself fall head over heels for her. Which left no room in his heart for me: his tomboyish best friend he’s known since we’ve been in diapers.

I shook my head at the thought. No, y/n, you’re the biggest dummy for falling in love with him. Falling in love with someone who already had his eyes on everyone but you.

It was true. Hyunjin fell in love easily but he was always too shy to do anything about it most of the time. He was a handsome guy no doubt, but his flirting skills? Those needed work. Thankfully his face was flirting enough. But he had been in love with this girl for so long, I started to think I had no chance. He would always drop everything for her and leave me in the dust. It felt like I was a 3rd wheel in my own friendship.

“I’m sorry I’m being so mopey, I’m just really sorry about… you know who.” I nodded, glad he used that name. “I don’t even know why I confessed to her a week ago, like ack, I hope I didn’t make things awkward. She has a boyfriend.” He groaned and buried his face into the pillow. I rolled my eyes at his childishness secretly.

“Well, honestly, it was a really dumb move on your part, but I guess it’s easier now that you let it out? Now you can go back to being friends, no secrets from each other.” I said those words with a heavy heart, knowing I was hiding the biggest secret from him. He sighed and shook his messy bedhead.

“I guess so…” He trailed off, leaving me not to know what to say.

Honestly, he had these awkward pauses often. Like he was always thinking about the other girl more than he was thinking about his time with me. I know our relationship hasn’t been the same, at least on my part, for the past months, but he never noticed anything about it. He was a dense boy.

“Anyways, I can’t stay for long, I have to sell shirts at the fair later tonight.” At my statement, his ears perked up.

“Wait, that’s tonight?” I felt my heart break slightly, knowing he forget what the most important event in my life right now.

“Yes, that is tonight, and you better go doofus or else I’ll never forgive you.” He snorted and rolled to the other side of the gray couch.

“Impossible, you’ll always forgive me.” I shook my head, knowing that was true. He was impossible to shake.

“Are you trying to say you’re going to flake on me??” I accused and ran over to tickle him. I heard his laughter and he tried to push me away.

“No, no no! I’m going even if I have to rise from the dead to do so!” He called out, making me stop my tickle attack. I sat back down and took a deep breath.

“Good, I couldn’t last that much longer with the tickle attack in this heat.” I wiped the beads of sweat from my forehead and stood up.

“Ok, so I have to go right now, don’t eat all of your ice cream or else your brother will be pissed at you. Ok bye! See you tonight! You better be there!” I shouted at him, pulling on my brightly colored shoes.

I heard him yell “bye” back as I shut the door.

I could already tell today was going to be a long day.

“Y/n! You’re here great! Time to set up the fair!” One of my coworkers had said to me. This fair was the biggest one in town and they always needed all hands on deck.

“Yup, I mean, I wasn’t going to miss this for the world.” I answered honestly. The lady shook my hand and laughed.

“I’m excited about your enthusiasm. But now that you’re here, could you please help with setting up the lights around the fair.” I nodded while tying up my hair. “Luna is over there, she’ll tell you what to do.” I waved to the older girl and walked away, trying to let loose of the nerves that were occupying my body. It was my first time doing something this big like hosting my own booth at a carnival. I felt numb to the anxiety that was rising in my stomach, but I tried to push the event off my mind.

Don’t worry, Hyunjin will be there, I’ll be fine.

“Ah, y/n, you’re here! Could you help me set up the lights on this booth?” I nodded and took the lights out of her hands. I stood on a ladder to set up the lights, making sure they were secure enough and would shine on the front side. I saw Luna walk away as she had other things to tend to of course.

Just as I had finish the lights, I felt the ladder wobble under me, making my anxiety sky rocket.

“Um, can anyo-“ Before I could finish my words, I felt the ladder start to fall under me.

“Y/n! GET OFF!” I heard a faint voice yell, but I could barely hear anything. I snapped out of the trance I was in and jumped off of the ladder and reflexively ran to the side as the ladder came down.

The lights came down as well, getting tangled in the ladder. I watched all of my hard work tumble to the ground and my heart split in 2. I heard a deep sigh from Luna who happened to be behind me.

“I’ll take the lights this time.”

Throughout the whole day, terrible things kept happening.

I didn’t tumble off any other ladders, but I did accidently spray another booth with a hose, which brought upon a few enemies. Though, it wasn’t my fault the hose malfunctioned and I couldn’t hold it still. I also accidently spilled lemonade all over my clothes, making me have to use one of the shirts I was selling, which would be 20 dollars wasted. And on top of that, my booth still wasn’t decorated because of the mess I made and I was unsure if I would be able to decorate it in time.

“Y/n!” I set down the glass of lemonade I had and peered into the distance as to where I saw a boy running at me. He held up his bag and I saw my favorite food: chocolate cheesecake. I gasped and almost attacked the boy when I saw him.

“I-is this what I think it is?” He nodded and gave me one of his famous eyesmiles. I swear I would be over this boy if he didn’t know how to smile.

He was wearing a white T-shirt and khaki shorts with a gray baseball cap. I couldn’t help but notice our outfits were similar, but I guess that’s how best friends are.

“I don’t know, open it and find out.” I tore open the box and found a delicious slice of chocolate cheesecake staring at me. I turn to the boy and glared at him, crossing my arms, but I couldn’t help my smile.

“What is this for? Did you poison it? Why are you being so nice today?” I gave him a playful shove, but I felt him fall back from my strength.

“Oof, woman, can’t a guy just do something nice for his best friend? Is that too hard to comprehend?” He playfully knocked on my head twice, but I shivered at the close contact. I scooted back from him and dug into my cake.

“Whatever, I’m still suspicious of you.” I mumbled. I heard him whistle softly and adjust his shades.

“Ok so maybe, I needed chocolate cake to get over my heartbreak and saw you on the way-“ I punched him on the shoulder and shook my head. I knew there was another motive to this. He hasn’t gotten me cheesecake ever since he’d been…preoccupied with someone else.

“Hey! Don’t blame me, you-know-who and you could’ve been close friends, you both are spunky. Of course she would never hit me-“ I slapped him again to make him shut up, but I felt my cheeks burn already. It was terrible constantly being compared to some other girl he liked.

“I’m sorry, I hate all the girls who break my best friend’s heart. It’s the bro code.” I said matter of factly. I wiggled a fork full of cake at his face while he glared at me. “And if you think you’re getting any cake, you’re very wrong.” He chuckled and shook his head.

“I’m not dumb, I got a slice of my own before. And first, you’re not a bro. And second, she’s cooler than you.” He flinched away, but I was too hurt to hit him. I knew he was joking, but the feeling of constantly being compared never felt too great.

“Whatever, leave if you’re just going to insult me.” I pushed away the demolished cake and threw it away. “Now, I need to get back to work.” I turned to walk away from him, but I felt his hand grab my shoulder.

“Hey, don’t be mad at me. She might be the girl I love, but you’re still my best friend.” I clenched my jaw, holding back the tears that were threatening to fall. I hated how those had to be 2 separate people.

“Yeah and you’ll always be mine too.” He patted my back and walked away.

“See you at 7 then!”

Soon enough, the carnival began and all my negativity was drained away. Little kids were shooting out bubbles and their parents were purchasing things from all sorts of things.

My booth wasn’t extremely busy, but it wasn’t empty either. I got a few sales here and there which made me ecstatic.

“Wow, is it the one and only y/n?” I heard a familiar voice ask. I looked up from my shirts and found myself staring at the cockiest boy in school. I rolled my eyes and sat back in my chair.

“Wow nice to see you too, Han Jisung.” I mumbled, obviously not excited to see the boy. He scoffed and leaned over my table.

“Hm, where’s your pole for a friend, what’s his name again..?” I scoffed and knew the boy was just trying to mess with me.

“His name is Hyunjin, you know that. You’re friends with him, you dumbass.” Jisung laughed loudly, making a few heads turn towards us.

“Ok you got me there. Anyways, are you free after-“ I stopped him before he could say anything else.

“Jisung, I am not going to go out with you. Go find another girl to play with.” I spat. He raised a brow and pulled down his cap. I thought he was going to be upset, but instead he gave me a small smile.

“Still not over the guy, huh?”

My heart stopped at his words. I clenched my fists in anger but held it in.

“Just go, Jisung.”

Jisung held him his arms in defeat and walked back slowly.

“Ok, ok, but if you get sick of him, you know where to find me.”

I groaned and wanted to face plant into all of my shirts, but I couldn’t get them dirty.

Soon, 7 turned into 8, then 8 turned into 9.

“Where is Hyunjin? My booth closes at 9:30.” I muttered sadly.

I felt tears build up in my eyes when I realized the boy just wasn’t coming. He had barely gone out of the house to see any of my events, but I had hoped he would at least come to this one.

The most important one.

I folded the rest of my t-shirts and threw them in the boxes angrily.

“Hey, y/n, good work today. You can go home early, we’ll tear down your booth for you.” I nodded and thanked her.

“Thanks,” I muttered before escaping. I jumped in my car and felt the tears fall quickly.

“I’m so fucking stupid.” I hit my wheels and felt my body jerk in reaction to the pain. I tried to wipe my tears, but it was useless, they kept falling.

I looked at my phone for the first time that night.

“Wow, not even one text message.” I laughed sadly before throwing my phone to the back of my car. “Whatever, I don’t need him anyways. He’s been a shit friend for too long. I’m so done.” I felt myself break on the last sentence which through my emotions into a frenzy.

I’d been best friends with Hyunjin before I could speak, could I operate without him?

Well, I guess I’m going to have to now.

I washed my face with a wet wipe before starting my car quickly. It was a waste of my time to cry over boys who obviously didn’t care for me.

I drove home at lightning speed, not caring about the speed limit. And just at that second, I heard sirens come in from behind me.

“FUCK!” I shouted out. I pulled over angrily, but tried to hide my tears from the officer. “My parents are going to kill me.” I muttered aloud. This whole night was a train wreck.

“Hi, can I see your license please?” I pulled out my lincense and gave it to him. He inspected it and looked at me as well.

“So y/n, do you know how fast you were driving tonight?” I held back my sharp wit and shook my head.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t even realize I was going so fast.” I apologized, hoping he would let me off the hook.

“Hm, I know you’re sorry but I’m still going to write you a ticket. You could’ve hurt someone or yourself. I know a carnival was tonight and kids are running everywhere.” He wrote me a ticket and handed it to me, making me feel numb inside.

“Drive home safely ok?” I barely heard what he said but I nodded numbly. I couldn’t even look at the cost, so I set down the ticket and started my car again.

I drove off at a normal speed this time, although my insides felt like they were shaking.

“Do not get a panic attack while driving, that’s a dumb move to make.” I didn’t know who I was talking to, but I felt like I had to speak all my thoughts to not feel so alone.

I finally made it home in one piece, but once I got home, I wished I never would.

I looked to the house next to mine and saw Hyunjin standing at the front of his house, talking to a girl with short black hair. She was beautiful and her laughed filled up the entire neighborhood.

So this is the girl.

“Hey, y/n!” He called out, pointing at the girl. She turned and smiled at me.

I knew I should’ve waved back politely or smiled back or walked over to them.

Instead, I shrugged and walked through my front door.

I was done with him.

Hi Five!

Well, firstly and most importantly, THANK YOU for taking a chance! I know taht fanfic can be weird or uninteresting to some people, and it’s especially a leap when you don’t subscribe to the “shipping preferences”/character interpretation of the author/the story. So thank you for giving it a shot! That is very cool!!

And thank you so very much for your kind words about my writing!!! As @amusedrhyme can surely attest, I was quite iffy about posting it and how it would be received. I wasn’t sure it was up to snuff and she was very integral to me getting the balls to post it. If you can picture it and I’ve captured Serena to a sufficient degree, that is literally all I ask for! :D It means so much to hear.

Also, yeah, Serena being a big ole gay wasn’t exactly something I thought of in S1 at all. There were niggles but it wasn’t until S2 that I started to seriously play around with the idea in my head, especially because of its SUPREME ANGST potential and I fucking adore angst and conflict in my pairings. I will say however that I have zero illusions about it becoming canon. Neither Serena coming out of a closet she doesn’t even know she’s in, and especially not any June/Serena fantasy. The show will NEVER go there. I think partly because the LGBT community blowback would be too much (it’s a bad gay trope), partly because setting up even the hint of romance between abuser/abuse victim is so unbearably unpalatable (even if it does happen IRL sometimes. Eek.) and viewers would RIOT (and if you did even attempt to try it, it would be SO amazingly difficult to do for a mass audience), partly cos like 85% of viewers loathe Serena and would not abide her being paired with the main character they love, partly cos neither woman has been written as anything but super-straight and any hint of anything else is just the actresses’ chemistry/acting choices, partly because there is NO WAY IN HELL they’ll kill off Nick (unfortunately lol) and N*ck/June is like… their rabid fangirl catnip and there is no chance for June to even entertain anybody else whilst he (and Luke) is alive, and partly cos I don’t think they’ll actually redeem Serena to the degree I feel would even be necessary to remotely approach that idea. I think they’ll go that direction with her but how far? I’m not sure. I want to say ALL THE WAY!!! But I’m not sure THT will dare. I have a bad feeling they’ll kill her off in a season or two. (It always happens to my favs lol). So, it’s not gonna happen, lol. Too bad for me and like 20 other people. ;)

So, yeah when I watch the show, I don’t really ship it or see her as Big Gay Serena, if that makes sense? Like, I totally do on rewatches haha but initially on first watch I try to push it out of my head and just try to enjoy/watch (cos it’s not exactly enjoyable TV lol) as it is.

I just like to make her gay for my own entertainment. (Lesbian!Serena is my emotional support character/fandom coping mechanism muahaha.) I’m very aware in canon it’s 100% impossible and I get why people don’t feel it or the pairing. June is in a dumb love triangle with Nick and Luke (Don’t even get me started on making a show like THT play up a love triangle… ugh…) but ultimately I don’t think they’ll have her connected to any man. Well, I hope anyway.* Serena is going to die alone. I honestly don’t see them giving her anything else. She will not get a happy ending…

I did debate about whether to have her bi, or like full-on lesbian. I went with the latter. I left June as bi, which I feel is reasonable enough. I feel like it would be way too much of a reach to change June that much but Serena is more complex and less is known about her, and her emotional/romantic/(arguably, sexual) connection to her husband is 100x weaker than June’s (to either man, really). Not to mention her relationship with Fred, even in flashbacks has a lot of other layers and motives that I can ~warp lol.

I’m just so happy there are people like you that take chances and keep an open mind! It’s so rare in fandom these days and so refreshing and wonderful. And like you say, “Why not?” It’s just fandom fun anyway. ;) Thank you so much again!!! Xx :D

*OKAY I WILL GET STARTED PLEASE FORGIVE ME. Now, I do get why they’ve put in a little bit of the Luke/June/Nick love triangle stuff because it really is a significant conflict that can realistically be expected. And it does have meaning to the larger story and especially June. I’m not trying to denigrate the impact Nick has had on June and her story. I just fear that in coming seasons they’re gonna keep the N/J thing going on and on and oooonnnnnn and it’s just so……. boring to me now lol. I feel like it’s served it’s purpose. I don’t particularly believe June will be able to reconnect with Luke on the same level they were prior to Gilead either. And I don’t want her just shoved with either man for the sake of a “happy ending” which Miller insists THT will have. I’d much rather her happy, with her daughters, and Luke can be in the picture, but not necessarily romantically any longer. (I do think Nick needs to die because I really, really, really don’t want an actual love triangle. I don’t want June to have to choose. (And I also don’t want a poly thing cos I…no. Not touching that and what it would say in the universe of THT.) And I wouldn’t be opposed to him dying while trying to save June, or another handmaid cos I’m tired of his only concern being June and not ALL the women that he’s complicit in oppressing. So, yes, I’m totally biased cos I don’t care for Nick. He bores me even if I understand why he exists (or I did. Now, I’m no longer convinced he should be around**), I don’t like him, in all honesty and I don’t want him to survive the season, let alone the entire series.)**When he magically reappeared after 2x11, sans any explanation or consequence!!!, I rolled my eyes so hard into the back of my skull I went permanently blind. It was so fucking stupid and completely nonsensical.

Well! I was sent this by the ever wonderful, @hufflefaerie and don’t want to disappoint! (Thanks for remembering I exist even when I go radio silent. I appreciate you keeping in touch and hope all is well with school.)

Ahhh. This is gonna be kinda hard today so I’m gonna go with the first few things that come to mind.

1) (When I’m not drowning in my own mental issues) I try my damndest to make others feel cared for and loved.

2) I like that I write fanfic. lol. Idk. I think it’s cool as shit and I’m proud to do it. I hope to continue to do it.

3) I can actually cook pretty well? Like, when I cook just for the fun of it or because I want to, it comes out /amazing/.

4) I’m honest to a fault. I can’t help it and don’t really want to. (Even if it gets me into trouble)

5) I /love/ the natural happy-go-lucky nature I have when I’m not fighting my own brain. One day I hope to be that guy all the time.

As for sending this to people, I’m not gonna do that. Instead, I think I’ll just publicly call out some people and say nice things about them. ;) I don’t have many followers and I don’t talk to many people here since I closed my ace blog, but here goes (In order of following me):
