Eight-year-old Harry: Reggie, is Pa your boyfriend?
Regulus: No.
Eight-year-old Harry: Then why are you always staring at him?
Regulus: Because...adult stuff?
Eight-year-old Harry: Well, do you want him to be your boyfriend?
Regulus: y-yeah
Eight-year-old Harry: (walks over to James and whispers something into his ear)
James: (starts blushing)
James: Uh, hi Regulus. Um, Harry says that you want me to be your boyfriend?
Harry: Pa and Reggie, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!
Remus and Sirius spying on them: Yes Harry, go!

brace - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - word count: 225
It's not for any particular reason Regulus picks this bench.
Or, at least, he tries to tell himself that. But as he sits quietly, reading his book and enjoying the cool morning breeze, he knows he's lying to himself. Because every few words, he looks up and around, not taking in a single word of the page he's been staring at for the past ten minutes.
At least, after five more minutes of distraction, he's rewarded.
James Potter comes running up the path, spots him, and grins the type of grin that makes Regulus's stomach drop and his knees turn to jelly. Slowing and stopping, the older boy moves to brace his body against a tree as he stretches his legs and tilts his chin in acknowledgement, calling, "Hey, Reggie! Beautiful morning, isn't it?"
"Don't call me that!" is all he retorts, but his cheeks light up pink and his whole body warms at the way James responds with a laugh.
And then the Gryffindor moves closer, stopping right in front of Regulus's bench, biting his lip and raising an eyebrow. "The view's extra perfect this morning, actually," he drawls, eyes shining.
But before Regulus can respond, James runs off, his laughter leaving strange bubbling joy in Regulus's chest, and he can't even deny it anymore:
Regulus will be back in the same spot tomorrow.

Mister pitch perfect

The perfect Gryffindor golden boy has gone off his rails to catch a Black daughter.
Warnings: James Potter x reader fanfic, James is down bad, I tagged marauders but no peter, Slytherin reader, Black family reader, reader is portrayed as she/her, reader centric, forbidden love trope, SFW, James perspective
havent done this in a while and this will be the first time im posting on this platform. im very sorry if its quite messy!
this was supposed to be a oneshot but i drag it too much. so it'll be some sort of a series oneshot? will also be posted on ao3 soon!
————————————————————————————————————————
It was never meant to be. James Fleamont Potter was basically molted into the perfect specimen of man and every soul who has ever walked Hogwarts knew. Sure he would cause trouble every then and again with his fellow mates. Yet of course, James would always dazzle his way out of it with a few charming smiles or reasonings to squeal his way out of being blamed.
[ part 1|part 2|part 3 ]
He was confident, charismatic, spotless.
And when he meets eyes with you, it was set. James is sitting at his usual spot with the marauders at supper when the moment arrives. You were fixing your necklace to your neck at the Slytherin table, struggling with the clasps as your face scrunches in frustration. James almost walks the whole way over to you and offers his assistance right then and there.
"Stop undressing my cousin with your eyes, Prongs," Sirius brings James back to reality with a slap on the back of his head. He seems to still be having his feast so that was new of him to pick on James in that setting. Remus raises an eyebrow as he stares at the two, "Since when do you care about the other Blacks?"
"That was foul, Pads!" James yell as he rubs his head and glares at his mate, he's used to Sirius playfights but that slap seems to be sincere. He tries to focus on the conversation as he tries to find you again on the table across. You seemed to have moved next to Regulus as he helps you with your necklace. James lets out an involuntary sigh.
"She's different, Moony. She's on the edge too. Pretty sure she's going to find a way to run when she hits 18," Sirius lets out a scowl, "Heard she is to be arranged with Nott. Bloody brilliant that."
"Nott? That Nott? Surely you're joking. That bastard can't even keep his owl alive for a week! How's he going to keep a wife that young?!" Remus exclaims in disbelief. Whipping his head to take a good look at you now that you're a big deal. "I wish I was. I love you but seriously mate, don't. You're big enough trouble yourself," Warns Sirius with his fork right to to James face. A juicy piece of meat dangling right on it.
He bites it though. Sirius lets out a shrieking squeal of, "My meat!", erupting laughter at the Gryffindor table as James chews proudly with a sly smile across his face. The boisterous sound turns a few heads, including yours. Your brows raised at the sudden commotion, only to have the red of your cheeks creep in as you find one of your cousin being the center of it. He watches as you rub your cheeks to hide the tint.
James gulps the meat down. He's quite full himself but he must admit, it's nothing like he has ever had.
——————————————————————————
The next time he sees you, you are sitting by yourself writing in parchments on a patch of grass by the lake. James is in a broom practicing to catch the golden snitch on Hogwarts grounds. Quite foolish but he's gotten bored of the arena and its currently being used by the Hufflepuff team anyways.
He's worried about you sitting all alone in this breeze though. It's quite cold and you don't seem to be wearing enough layers. He keeps a distance near a tree so as not to scare you, although he is quite discontent with seeing just your figure by the lake.
You whipped your head to the skies behind you, "Reggie? Is that you?" You ask calmly, your eyes not missing the shadowy figure blatantly hiding behind a tree, "I saw you from the reflection. Very funny, Regs."
James cracked a smile at your sarcastic tone. He even finds your voice perfect. He fixes himself a little before he reveals himself off the shade and lands in front of you, "So I'll take it you find me quite funny?"
Your eyes widened as you process the man in front of you. Why would James Potter—the Gryffindor golden boy—be here? And why is he talking to you now?
"You're not Reggie." You said still in shock, almost sounding like a question. Your brows are raised as you try to study his demeanor. He's holding his broom awkwardly in his arms, you've always thought James Potter's confident composure was permanent.
"Well if your standards of humour is a certain Regulus Black, I'm sure I'd be comical, love," He cracks a small smile and a hand extended to you, "Potter. James Potter."
You look at James like you're Newt Scamander finding a newfound beast, "I know who you are. Everybody does," You said in disbelief, finding the whole situation suspicious. The breeze of wind moves his curly hair to his face, framing it gracefully, "What I want to know is why are you doing this? We're not exactly fit to be friends."
"Why that's quite bold of you, lovely. Who said I'd like to be friends?" He said as he leans closer. You never noticed it before but his glasses are rather clean today, his hazy eyes look at you with glimmer in them you've never seen on anyone before. You think to yourself if its one of the charisma of being James Potter.
You stood your ground, you would have never thought to ever be face to face with this dazzling man in front of you. You are a Black though, your legs won't give in even if you try, "Well that's settled then. Are you here to pick a fight?" You ask him plainly, crossing your arms upon your chest.
James finds it adorable, he knows full well of his effects on people and especially of course girls. What he doesn't understand is the effect you have on him. "The contrary, darling. I have a proposition for you."
You lift a brow and yet let him continue, "I heard you're in quite the predicament with Nott. Now I know a way to get you out," His claim makes your eyes open, you let him continue. Words dripping in confidence, "A date. With me."
This time, you can't help but let out a laugh–of which James can't help but take in the sight. He's completely enamoured.
'What? Huh– Hold on. You can't be serious," You looked at him as if he had gone mad, the thought of a Black and a Potter dating is out of this world, "I don't know what kind of prank you're up to, but do you seriously think I'll fall for that?"
"Wait, I am serious! Picture this, if Nott knows you're going out with me he'd be livid, enough to break off the arrangement. I mean have you seen the way that scum looks at me? It's like he has this permanent face of eating vomit flavoured Bertie Bott's Beans!" He rants as he joined in on the laughter with you.
You are smiling as the laughter reduces to giggles. As stupid as it is, it has a good chance of actually working. You pondered, there's still one thing on your mind, "What's in it for you? Would I have to do anything?"
James let out a smile, his palms are sweating like he's deep into a Quidditch game, "Well I get to see Nott lose his bride—" He pauses, confronting himself whether to tell you the real truth or not, "I mean I'll also get a beauty on my side."
You roll your eyes at that, "Don't you try to charm me, Potter. Give me the real reason or its off. I have a feeling you need this more than I do,"
She's right, James thought. He was about to play it off if you denied it straight away, he wasn't entirely sure you would actually take him seriously. He grasps the sight of you for a bit before closing his eyes tight, "Okay, how about I tell you the reason in a week— Maybe a month. You don't have to do anything, we'd just go out like normal couples do. Sounds good to you?" He said, he extends his arms to you for a handshake. His thoughts full of prayers to Merlin so you wouldn't notice the tremble in his arm.
You grin the same one James had seen a million times on Sirius's face, the Black's grin of content. You shake his hand firmly, his big ones almost encasing yours, "You've got yourself a deal, Potter."
James is using every atom on his magical being to control his ecstasy as he smiles widely at you. Once the handshake is done he reaches for his scarf over his neck and wears it on you, "Nice doing business with you, sweetcheeks. I do hope you start wearing warmer clothes though. No snogging will be done if you're in Pomfreys care."
She looks good in my color
Well technically so is the color of a quarter of the schools because of course its a Griffyndor scarf.
"You surely don't expect me to go back. To my dorm. Through the halls, the stairs and the common room. With this on?"
Oh I won't regret this one bit, James thought. He chuckles at your words dripped in such a sarcastic tone, "Of course not, darling. Do you think I'm mad?"
He extends his arms for you to hold, "We'll go back together. Through the halls, the stairs, even the common room. I heard you folks have lovely parties there."
You let out a chuckle as you circle your arms around his, "Oh, the best ones. Your Gryffindors ass is so not invited though."
"Well at least I do have a lovely one, don't I?"
"Oh shut it, Potter!"
——————————————————————————
Another storm of commotion is coursing through Hogwarts. A lot has played it off as a mere prank. James grins at the thought of it. He has only you on his mind lately, cherishing the bits of conversation you and him had.
He's on his way to charms class this morning, one that inconveniently does not have you in it, he checked. He checked your schedule last night sneaking through administration with the invisibility cloak.
Moony and Pads by his side as usual. Sirius seems to still haven't caught wind of it, his hair tousled from a good sleep. Apparently he was up all night helping Remus solve a 10k piece magic puzzle.
Won't be long with how loud the students are gossiping though. James let out a coherent sighs. He had an amount of grins with knowing looks from a couple male students and even a pat on the back by a random Slytherin, "Alright, what is going on?" Remus breaks first. Stopping the two boys right before the class door.
James crackles a laugh, "What's going on? Nothing's going on, mate! What?" Moony lets out a drawled scowl on him, one he makes when he pieces that they're in some kind of trouble, "Why is everybody on Hogwarts up your pants then, Prongs?!"
Sirius yawns as he hugs James by the side to lean his head on him, "Yeah... Saw that too even if my eyes were closed the entire walk. You can tell us mate, come on," He does notice the lack of scarf on his mate's neck though, none in this rapidly chilly morning? "Prongsie, where's your scarf? I could really use a pillow here–"
"Oh! Thank Merlin! One second late and I would've thrown this in the bin. Here, take this off me," There you are with James Potter red and yellow scarf on your hands, just coming out the door. All three boys were quite startled, "What? Wait. This isn't your class," said James. His eyes land on the presence of a Slytherin scarf wrapping your neck. James wishes he could take that one instead.
"Yeah... I'm sort of risking being late to Dark Arts for this but I can't take the whispering anymore. I might square the next person who even looks at me!" You told him, your grip on his scarf tightens and James wishes the fabric would stretch upon your nails.
Sirius is well awake now, his bagged eyes darting between you and James as if you're both insane, "Hold–Hold on! What is this? What is happening, Why do you have James's scarf?" He cuts, going between you and James to put a distance and blocks James view. Remus gives James a 'he did warned you, mate' face at the side.
James on the other hand, in too much of a thrill of seeing you this early in the morning, "You could also just admit ya didn't want me to get cold, love. Thanks for the thought there," He said almost shouting as he stands on his tips to try and see you from above Sirius's head.
You let out an annoyed grunt, "Ugh I don't have time for this. Here Siri, give this to that stupid friend of yours. I'd like to keep my Dark Arts seat next to Cissy and Malfoy's been eyeing it like the vulture he is," You throw James's scarf to your cousin's head not caring if it covers his vision, it earns a few chuckles from nearby students. He trashes to take it off and looks at you in betrayal.
You're about to run off to Dark Arts and leave your cousin and his foolish mates when your feet stop and turn you back, "If you still want that date to happen. Expect my owl, Potter. She's a snow named Emerald."
"Oh and it is lovely to meet you, Remus. Do take care of my sod cousin and my idiot boyfriend. Make sure they're out of trouble," You smiled sincerely at Remus, you actually do admire him a little. You love dark arts and your professor rants and rants about Remus's talents.
Remus seems taken aback, but that would make the three of them. You left after he reciprocated your smile and responded with a polite, "You too, (Y/N)."
And as such, you scurried off in a rush to go shoo away Lucius Malfoy from your seat and save Narcissa. Leaving behind a bewildered Remus, an angered Sirius, and a lovestruck James.
James keeps his eyes on you until you turn the corridor, a stupidly huge smile stays on his lips. He turns to find the reality of Sirius's wrath upon him. Remus is quite literally holding back Sirius with his whole body, it's quite an advantageous turn of events that Sirius hasn't had his proper sleep yet.
"Boyfriend! Boyfriend?! When did you even– How is this— Let me go, Moony! He's going to have an earful!"
He definitely will get that earful later. James grins an apologetic smile at Remus as he picks up his scarf that fell to the ground. He could already smell the sweet of your scent from a distance.
Remus lets out a huffed noise, "You really do always get what you want don't you?"
James doesn't reply. He wraps his own scarf on his neck, embracing the warmth it does to his skin. Your scent crashes onto him like tidal waves. A tint of rose blooms on the pale of his cheeks.
He smiles faintly at the open skies over the hall window. He wishes for an owl he hadn't even met for safe travels.

25 days of Jegumas - Day 11: Colored Lights - 681 words - @noblehouseofgay
Regulus turned the heat up higher in the car and rubbed his gloved hands together, coaxing more heat into his digits. In the backseat little Harry giggled excitedly in his carseat. “Reggie, Reggie!”
“I hear you, baby. Daddy will be back any moment and then we’ll go see the pretty lights, okay?”
James had left them in the car to go pay for their passage to drive through the lightshow. They cant see anything from the car park aside from the glow over the trees but Regulus was excited. Not only for the fact he’s never gone out to just look at Christmas lights and enjoy the guiltless pleasure, but the fact that this is their first official family outing with Harry since he and James started dating four months ago.
Not that there haven't been any other opportunities before now. It was always the matter of their schedules not matching; either Regulus would get off of work too late, or Lily had Harry for the weekend and such, nothing really coincided until tonight. But, Lily was taking the weekend away with Mary and Regulus managed to get off of work early enough that they could go do this before Harry’s bedtime.
And, yeah, he’s nervous, why wouldn’t he be. He’s had plenty of time for Harry to get used to him since he started dating the boy’s father but this is something new than them just sitting at James’s house playing with toys and watching cartoons.
The driver’s side door opens and James ducks in, rosy cheeks pulled wide with his smile. He reached over and turned the key, shutting off the ignition. “Are my boys ready to go?” James asked. Regulus preened at the term and nodded, opening his door and getting out. He went to the back seat and unbuckled Harry from his car seat. James grabbed Harry’s little snow jacket from behind his seat, along with a blanket, and walked around the car to them. While Regulus held Harry, James put the jacket on his son, adding a hat to his adorable ensemble.
“Ready, Bambi?” James asked him. Harry giggled and clapped his little mittened hands. “Ready, baby?” Regulus nodded at his boyfriend and took his offered hand. James clicked the lock on his key fob and guided the three of them through the parking lot toward the front of the fair grounds.
Harry’s tiny fist gripped tightly to Regulus’s collar while they walked, him babbling in that adorable two year old way as James encouraged him. They reach the front gate and swiftly pass through with their purchased tickets. James stopped by a drink stand to get him and Regulus hot chocolate and Harry a warmed cookie, before leading them further to where horse drawn carriages decked out in garland and bows waited for guests.
They get one all to themselves and sit down. James draped the blanket over them, making sure to tuck it securely under his leg, Reg’s leg, and around Harry who was perched on Regulus’s lap. With a snap of the reins, the horse is coaxed into an easy trot. They round the bend and get into the light show.
Harry’s eyes positively light up taking in all the statues and facades covered in colored lights. Reindeer moved their heads mechanically, carolers pantomimed singing, arches lit up in reds and golds and greens and blues. It was breathtaking. Regulus smiled down at the little boy in his lap and looked over at James to see if he was seeing the same delight Regulus was. But when he turned to look at his partner, he wasn’t looking at his son. Instead James’s loving gaze was focused directly on Regulus.
Regulus blushed, mumbling, “What?”
James shook his head and leaned in to whisper in his ear, his smile still plastered on his face. “You’re just so beautiful.” He pulls back and places a delicate kiss on Regulus’s red cheek.
Regulus smiled completely content and leaned into his warm shoulder, pulling Harry closer to his chest. They enjoyed the rest of the ride like that.

Seven - (Platonic?) Prongsfoot + Black Brothers - @taylorswiftmicrofic - 339 words - AO3
James only went inside for a minute or two to get them some glasses of his mother’s freshly made lemonade to help with the sweltering heat of the summer. How did Sirius, in that time, manage to climb up seven feet of the tree they were messing around in the shade of?
“Oi, mate!” he calls to him. “What are you doing up there?”
“Seeing if I still got it.”
“Got what?”
Sirius climbs down so they don’t have to shout and takes a glass from him, downing half of the lemonade in one sip. “Me and Reggie used to climb trees in the garden to get away from mother and father when they were angry,” he states as if that isn’t one of the most devastating things James has ever heard. “It took them ages to find us at first. When they did…”
He doesn’t need to say more, James understands immediately what the cause of the frown now on his face is because of. “Right, well, you don’t need to hide from anyone here. You don’t need to run from people anymore. You’re safe.”
“I’m safe,” Sirius repeats. “I’m safe,” this time with more conviction, “I don’t need to run ever again.” He finishes drinking and sets his glass down. “Race you to the top.”
“Hey, that’s not fair!” James exclaims as he balances his own, mostly full, cup on the uneven ground and follows him. Sirius is a fast climber, he supposes he must have been to be able to hide from those horrid people.
They sit on sturdy branches next to eat other, panting. “Do you think Reggie still does this?”
“I don’t know.”
“Do you think he’s safe?”
James lets out a long breath. “I hope so, he has always had more self-preservation instincts than you.”
The silence that follows is heavy, both wishing for something they know would never happen. Regulus has always been one to value his safety over his happiness, he would never leave that family. But one can only hope.

Summer camp AU, part 6!!
July 6th <3
Limb - @jegulus-microfic - words: 826
First part Previous part
Regulus felt his eyes flicker open, the golden morning sunlight cast bright rays on his pale freckled skin and lit up flecks of blue in his dark eyes.
That’s strange, he pondered. He never woke up to the sun on his face, his bed wasn’t in line with it in cabin.
He opened his drowsy tired eyes and let them flick around the room.
First, he spotted an open laptop paused on the ending credits of call me by your name. Next, he noticed a pair of round glasses placed on the nightstand.
He swallowed, turning around hesitantly to see exactly what he was expecting. James Potter was curled up, his tan limbs falling half off the bed while he snored lightly in his sleep.
The older boy was in a deep sleep, his chest rising and falling and his dark brown hair sticking up and falling over his face.
Waking up in an instant, Regulus felt his eyes widen and his heart drop to his stomach.
That is… so embarrassing. He chewed on the inside of his cheek nervously.
Carefully, he went to stand up. That’s when he noticed the blanket that had clearly been draped over him and the way he fell asleep leant against a wall, a pillow behind his head. Blood rushed to his cheeks, flushing his face as he looked down at the sleeping man.
James had his legs tucked under the same blanket and no pillow behind his head.
A smile snuck its way up onto Regulus’ chapped lips, he let it stay there though, no one was there to see it.
Releasing a breath, he lifted the velvety blanket from his lap and softly draped it over James’ surely cold body. He moved the pillow, gently lifting the brunettes head up and being sure not to wake him while he placed the pillow behind his head.
The smile still on his face, he gazed at James’ beauty for a moment. The early morning light landing half on his face and his lips slightly parted tilted upwards.
Slowly grabbing the door handle, it opened with a quiet click before he shut it again.
As soon as he got outside he grinned like an idiot, closing his eyes, shaking his head and walking through the sun dappled forest floor.
-
“Why are you… smiling?” Sirius asked with a sceptical look on his face, sitting down next to Regulus under a tree during the kids lunch break.
Regulus was absentmindedly scrolling his phone, by that it means that he’s stalking James’ instagram account.
He shut his phone quickly, gazing up at his brother and adjusting his face back into his usual. “And nevermind, resting bitch face is back!” Sirius spoke with a fake tone of joy.
“Sod off Sirius.” He grumbled, hiding his phone in his pocket and praying that he didn’t accidentally like any posts in the process.
“What were you smiling at?” His brother teased.
“Your downfall.” Regulus deadpanned, ignoring it when Sirius sat next to him and swatted the back of his head, his black curls falling around his face loosely.
Giving him an unimpressed look, Sirius huffed and rolled his eyes. “How’s the cabin situation going?” His eye visibly twitched.
“Eh.” Regulus tilted his head, purposely not sharing anymore information because he really doesn’t have a clue how he feels about it either.
“Eh?” Sirius mimicked, lifting an eyebrow.
Regulus nodded. “Exactly.” He waved his hands around in the air to prove a point before slouching back up against the tree, staring at the stars sketched into his emerald converse. “How about you?” He changed the topic swiftly.
Sirius’ face lit up, his eyes glowing with adoration and his cheeks the same colour as the maroon of his sweater. “I’m so glad you asked Reggie.” He beamed, Regulus groaned. “We watch movies, we cuddle, we talk-“ He went on and on about it, received multiple snarky comments from his little brother.
Giving a fake gag, Regulus elbowed Sirius. “Okay- Jesus, I get it.”
“What?” Sirius pouted. “Don’t you and James cuddle?” He joked with a loud barking laugh.
Regulus cheeks glowed red, he could feel it, from his shoulders to the tips of his ears. He never blushes, but when he does it’s obvious on his pale skin, and really bad.
He attempted to hide it with a snarl and looked away, Sirius seemed too busy carving something into the tree behind them to even notice. “Don’t be a prick.” Regulus lectured.
“Aw, you’re so cute when you get red and angry.” Sirius cooed, clearly mistaking the blush for anger - in this instance, that was a god send. The older booped his nose, getting a pile of leaves thrown at him in return.
“Take it back.” Regulus glared as he held up a pile of leaves to Sirius’ hair. “I swear to god Sirius-“
“Okay, okay! You’re not cute.” A beat. “You’re ugly-“
A whack in the face. “Fuck!”

Prompt 14 - Voice
@jegulus-microfic April 14, Word count 703
It's happened again. We're having a series. But only for a couple of prompts this time.
First part
“What’s happened to you then? That tall chap was easy on the eyes.” Sirius snickered as he perched on the sofa’s arm next to Regulus’s head and ruffled his curls.
“Get off you twat!” Regulus pushed his brother’s hand away. He hissed as the movement jolted his ankle. Sirius’s jolly grin turned to concern.
“Are you hurt? Oh my god, Reggie. What happened?” Before he could explain, James returned with two steaming cups of hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. Regulus felt his mouth begin to drool.
“Hi,” James grinned at Sirius. “I’m James.” He held out his hand. Sirius considered it for a second before taking it and giving it a firm shake.
“Sirius, Regulus’s brother. Do you know how he hurt himself?” Regulus watched as James’s face flushed when he stuttered out an explanation that confused Sirius even more.
“Wait, what do shrinking trees have to do with Regulus?” Sirius asked cocking his head to the side as he tried to figure out James’s mess of a story.
“He was on a run he didn’t have any business being on, and he took me out,” Regulus explained.
“What, like on a date?” Sirius waggled his eyebrows at him.
“No, as in he’s a buffoon who can’t ski and nearly killed me!” Regulus’s voice rose. A few of the guests in the lobby looked over at the trio. Regulus shuffled down, hiding his face. “Great, thanks for that, Sirius.” He ground his teeth.
“Hey, don’t blame me. I wasn’t the one screaming.” Sirius was having the time of his life. Regulus had had enough. He put his untouched drink onto the coffee table and tried to stand. He immediately sat down again. This was going to be harder than he thought. Then, those strong arms gathered him up.
“Which room are you in?” James asked him. His mind had gone blank.
“210,” Sirius answered for him. James turned and walked over to the lift. He shuffled Regulus slightly so he could press the call button and then settled him back against his chest. Regulus still couldn’t think of a good protest.
James stopped outside Regulus’s room and didn’t move. It took Regulus longer than he cared to admit to figure out he needed the key card.
Regulus wiggled in James’s arms as he tried to dig his wallet out of his pocket.
“Damn it, I can’t quite,” He gave up. “Can you put me down for a second?” James carefully put him on his feet against the wall so he had something to lean on. He dug his hand into his snowsuit and pulled it free.
James wrapped his arm around Regulus’s waist and helped him hop through the door. He stopped, unsure of where he wanted to sit. The bed would probably be best as it was close to the bathroom, and he could prop his ankle up, but he didn’t know how he felt about having a stranger see his bedroom.
“Where’s your bed?” James asked, looking around the room. “Did they only give you a pull-out?”
“What are you on about? The bedrooms through there.” He pointed at his bedroom door. What’s a pull-out?” He asked, bewildered.
“It’s a sofa that turns into a bed.” James smiled at him. Regulus was about to thank him for his help when he was suddenly in James’s arms again.
“Why do you keep picking me up!” He cried as he tried to escape.
“Dr Lupin said you shouldn’t put any weight on it, and this is the easiest way to move you. I’m just doing what a good boyfriend would do.” James smirked at him. Regulus was not impressed.
“You do know that we’re not boyfriends, right?” Regulus said as James opened his bedroom door. “Right?!” His voice cracked with nerves as James leaned over his bed and dropped him on the soft mattress.
“Yes, Regulus. I’m not an idiot. We’ve only just met. Anyway,” He said, standing up. “I’ve got the whole week to win you over. No need to rush.” He blew him a kiss as he left the room. Regulus was stunned. He’d never had anyone be that forward with him, and he couldn’t say he wasn’t intrigued.

Full moon shenanigans
Fluff
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
"Can't believe Reggie is coming to his first moon!" Sirius slung his arms around the smaller brother. "Piss off." Regulus immediately shoved Sirius right back off.
"Oh! He needs a nickname!" "I absolutely do not. I swear to Merlin-" James laughed as Sirius started coming up with ideas, all terrible if you ask Reg. "Beans! Like toe beans! I'm padfoot and you can be Bea-"
Regulus slapped a hand over his brother's mouth. "I am only coming because I don't despise Remus and you're down one member." Though they all knew they could get Reg to keep coming even after Pete returned.
"I'm touched, Reg." Remus smirked. "Oh save it for my brother."
The two had been closer than the others knew, so when they found out Reg was also an animagus they had to get him to come to full moons.
They were walking out into a forest clearing, warded by at least a dozen spells to keep people, especially muggles, out. They stopped just at the edge of the clearing, moon slowly rising in the distance. Sirius turned to his little brother. "You and Remus are friends, so it's safe to assume Moony won't mind you. But we'll take it slow alright?"
Everyone could tell Remus was a bit more anxious than usual, with adding a new person and all. But if anyone could handle it, it was Reg.
Eventually Remus made his way a bit further from the others for the transformation. Sirius couldn't contain his excitement though, a night with his best friend, his boyfriend, and his brother? What more could he want? He changed into Padfoot and jumped around Regulus. Reg rolled his eyes and changed, still glaring at his brother even as a cat.
James just smiled at two of his favorite people and changed to join them. Prongs walked over to Beans and bowed down, inviting him to sit on his back. Beans gently climbed on top of him and sat down, lightly holding on with his claws. They heard Moony making his way over and Pads ran to greet him.
As usual they played around, tackling each other and nipping playfully. Padfoot brought Moony over to Prongs and Beans. Moony sniffed the small black cat, nudging him lightly with his nose. Beans' tail flicked a little and he lightly nudged back. Padfoot's tail was wagging, watching the scene.
Beans hopped down and weaved through Moony's legs, batting at his tail when he got to it. Prongs snorted. Even as a cat he has to taunt.
It seemed Padfoot thought he had waited long enough for his turn, so he darted towards the cat, sending two black blurs running around the clearing. Prongs stepped up next to Moony, who would definitely roll his eyes if he could. Prongs nudged the wolf with his antler, telling him to chase Pads. And so he did.
Moony ran after the black dog and Prongs rescued the black cat while they were distracted. Prongs brought Beans over to sit by some trees.
Prongs laid on the ground and Beans curled into him, lightly licking him a few times and purring softly.
Moony and Padfoot spent the moon running around and playing (more like Pads was playing and Moony was tolerating), while Prongs and Beans sat together, taking in the peaceful sounds of the forest.
In the morning, they brought Remus back to the house, where Sirius took care of him from there, releasing James and Regulus to get some some sleep.
James led a sleepy Regulus to his bedroom, planning on tucking him in and leaving. But Reg had other plans. A sleepy hand pulled James under the covers with him, curling into a ball just like he did as a cat. "Adorable," James whispered as he kissed into dark curls. Regulus was already fast asleep and James soon joined him.

July 10 - Marathon | @jegulus-microfic | wc: 519 Part 6 of Medium James AU Previous Part | First Part
“I should’ve figured I’d find you here, reading like a nerd.” Sirius notes from behind Regulus, making him jump.
“Your boyfriend reads just as much. What are you doing here?”
“Coming to bother you.” His older brother hums, sitting down next to him and leaning against the tree, “And pester you about one James Potter.”
Regulus huffs, closing his book and putting it down, “I’ve no idea what you mean, Sirius.”
“Oh please, Reggie.” Sirius laughs, “You’re blushing bright red just at the thought of them. You look like you’ve just run a marathon with how red you are!”
“If you’re just here to tell me off for liking your best friend, you can save it and shove off.”
Sirius shakes his head, “Not at all. I’m actually here to tell you that I support you. I know you won’t believe me but I can tell that they like you back.”
“And how can you tell that?”
“C’mon, Reggie.” Sirius says, letting his head thump back against the tree trunk, “I’m their best friend, I can tell when they have feelings for someone. I was the first to figure out that they didn’t have a crush on Lily anymore, I was the first to notice that they’ve got a new object of their affection.” At the last part, Sirius nudges Regulus. Then they sigh, “They trust you. I’m assuming that they told you about the whole seeing ghosts thing and the fact that they go to you about that stuff is… they don’t do that.”
Regulus furrows his brows, “I thought you didn’t know about that.”
“I do. The idea of it freaks me out but I’ve never told James that they couldn’t tell me when they see something, and I’ll check to make sure that they’re okay when they see something, but they don’t tell me anything. I’ve never told them not to tell me about what they see, but they don’t. They used to tell Pete and Marlene about it, and Remus knows that they can see spirits, but they’ve stopped that.” He shakes his head, “You’re the only person that they tell, even with several people who are okay with it.”
“That’s not enough evidence that they like me back.” Regulus rolls his eyes, “Sweet as it is.”
“They let you decorate our dorm with them.” Sirius shakes his head, “They don’t let us do that. Remus is the only other person they let do that. Also, they put a fucking flower in your hair. That is peak romantic behavior from a hopeless romantic like James Fleamont Potter.”
Regulus rolls his eyes, “You’ve yet to give me any concrete evidence.”
Sirius shakes his head, “Whatever, don’t believe me.” He moves to stand up, “I tried to make it easy for the two of you because James isn’t going to do anything about their crush, but it’s out of my hands now.” With that, he walks away, telling Regulus to have a good day and to go back to his reading. Which Regulus does, refusing to think about their conversation until he’s safe in his bed, contemplating.

Read
'Whatcha reading, Moonbeam?'
Remus didn't look up from his page. He was so engrossed in the words that he didn't care that his back and hip were aching from being crushed into the window seat of the boys' dormitory room for too long, or that the sun was dipping so low beneath the tree line of the Forbidden Forest that he was having to strain his eyes to keep reading. Even his boyfriend's proximity wasn't enough to draw his attention away.
'Muggle book,' he muttered, only half-aware of what he was saying. It wasn't until Sirius' head, cocked to one side so that he could read the tile on the book's cover, entered his line of vision that he placed a long finger between the pages to save his place and made himself look at the other boy.
'Oh, Oscar Wilde!' Sirius said, his handsome face lighting with recognition as he met Remus' surprised gaze. 'He was the guy who wrote gay poetry, right? And got sent to prison for it?'
'Sort of? He - Wait, how do you know about Oscar Wilde?' Remus blurted.
'Reggie reads,' Sirius sighed, rolling his eyes, as though being well read made his brother a lost cause. 'Then he yaps about his books to James, who yaps about them to me. Getting rather boring, to be honest.'
'Well, maybe you should read some of the books that they talk about?' Remus tried. 'You never know, you might find something you could talk to Regulus about in them.'
'Riiiiight,' Sirius drawled, shaking his head as though the idea of it was impossible. But suddenly he paused, then grinned at Remus. 'Wait, what if you read it to me?'
'You ...' Remus blinked up at his triumphant boyfriend, his mind moving slowly around the concept. 'You want me to read you The Picture of Dorian Gray?'
'Yeah! It would be brilliant!' Sirius looked smug, like he'd just solved all of the world's problems in one fell swoop.
'It's ... It's quite an old book, Pads,' Remus murmured, treading carefully with his wording.
'Alright, well, I won't touch the pages or anything.'
'No, Love, I mean ...' Remus grappled with himself for a moment before plunging on, 'The wording is quite, um, flowery? It uses a lot of old language, and it's quite hard to follow in places, and -'
'Oh,' Sirius breathed, the smile slipping from his face. Remus started to panic when he saw the walls beginning to build behind the silver eyes that he so often got lost in, and then Sirius was turning away, muttering, 'You know, Remus, if you didn't want to do it, you could have just said -'
Remus lurched out of his sitting position, wincing slightly as his joints twinged at the sudden movement. But he still managed to catch Sirius' elbow, still managed to pull him back. The barriers weren't fully in place yet, as Sirius allowed himself to be turned, so Remus began blathering.
'Alright, look, it was written in the 1800s, and it was illegal to be gay back then, so Wilde couldn't just write an openly gay novel. He had to use a lot of imagery and careful language to hide what he meant. It's a story about love and obsession and how those things can easily become confused, but because of the style of the writing it's not as thrilling as a spy book or a crime novel. It's not that I don't want to read to you. I would love to read to you. But I just wanted you to know what you were in for, and that it's OK if you get bored and want to go do something else, yeah?'
Remus waited for a heartbeat, then two, panting slightly from his rant. But finally, Sirius softened, his eyes losing that harshness, and he lifted one hand to cup Remus' jaw.
'I think you could read me Hogwarts: A History from cover to cover, and it would be the most fascinating thing I'd ever heard,' Sirius murmured, the sincerity in his voice making Remus melt.
'Well, we'll see,' he rumbled, smiling when Sirius' thumb stroked gently over his cheekbone. Silent thanks for catching him before he spiralled. Remus turned his head to press a kiss against the other boy's pale wrist, then added, 'Could we move to the bed, though? My back is killing me.'
'Just say the word,' Sirius purred, and Remus chuckled at the elusion to one of their favourite songs. Quite an apt song, really, for the moment.
He allowed Sirius to pull him to his feet, and in no time they were curled up on Sirius' bed, with Remus' back well supported by numerous cushions and Sirius splayed out on his front, his head on Remus' chest, arms wrapped around his waist and hips nestled between his thighs. Remus opened the book at the first page.
'The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses,' he began. 'And when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn.'
'Sounds lovely,' Sirius sighed, his voice already heavy and relaxed. And Remus couldn't help smiling as he tangled his fingers into his boyfriend's long black hair, and read.

Folklore - October 5 - word count: 619 - @wolfstarmicrofic
“So,” Sirius began, casting a glance around the group, his voice lowering in mock seriousness. “Who’s got a proper spooky story for us?”
Marlene snorted. “You? Asking for spooky stories? You already know you’re going to try and outdo everyone.”
Sirius’s grin was almost predatory. “Well, that depends. Anyone brave enough to go first?”
Regulus, sitting quietly with James’s fingers absentmindedly playing with his hair, raised an eyebrow. “I’ve got one.”
James’s eyes lit up, his face breaking into a wide grin. “Oh, this should be good. Reg here’s got a creepy mind, don’t let him fool you.”
Regulus elbowed him lightly but gave a small, wicked smile of his own. “Ever heard of the curse of Grim Hollow?” His voice was soft, making everyone lean in slightly.
“No,” Lily replied, eyes narrowing with intrigue, “but now I want to.”
“Well,” Regulus started, “there was once a family who lived in an old, crumbling manor on the edge of the forest- Grim Hollow, they called it. People in the village said they were cursed. No matter how hard the family tried to leave, they were always drawn back. Each generation died young. Some said it was the house itself that kept them there. Others said it was something… darker.”
James leant onto Regulus’s shoulder. “What happened to them?”
“No one knows for sure,” the younger boy replied, his voice dropping lower, “but according to folklore, if you walk near the ruins at night, you can hear the whispers of the family trapped there, begging for release. And if you’re not careful-”
Sirius interrupted. “Please, spare us the cliché ending where they drag you into the house. That’s weak.”
Regulus smirked. “They don’t drag you in. They try to follow you home.”
A chill settled over the group as silence stretched, broken only by the crackle of the fire.
Peter shifted nervously. “That’s… unsettling.”
Sirius scoffed. “Alright, that was decent. But let me show you how it’s done.”
Remus, who had been contentedly quiet, leaned in closer to Sirius with a smirk of his own. “Oh? And what’s your masterpiece going to be?”
Sirius met his gaze, an impish gleam in his eyes. “I was thinking of something based on true events. You see, in the castle, not too long ago, a certain boy had the nerve to challenge his prefect to a race on broomsticks-”
“That’s not spooky, that’s just idiocy,” Remus interrupted, chuckling.
The noiret turned, dramatically placing a hand on his chest. “But wait- there’s more. This boy didn’t know that the Whomping Willow had been enchanted to-”
“Nice try,” James cut in, laughing. “It’s not spooky. It’s just angry.”
“I don’t know, it’s pretty spooky how many of you get hit by it,” Regulus deadpanned, earning laughs from the others.
“Alright, alright,” Sirius conceded, holding up his hands. “No more trees. But I was just getting to the best part, you see-”
“You fell off your broom,” Remus finished for him with a grin.
“Which is completely irrelevant to the story!” Sirius said, indignant. “But I suppose if you’re going to ruin the ending, I might as well keep it short.”
Lily groaned, rolling her eyes. “And here I was expecting an actual spooky story from you, Black.”
James leaned back, pulling Regulus with him as he chuckled. “I don’t know, Sirius falling off a broom sounds plenty scary to me.”
“Especially if it’s my broom,” the Slytherin added with a smirk.
Sirius rolled his eyes. “I guess we’ll leave the ghost stories to Reggie. I’ve got better ways to spend the night.”
Remus nudged him with his elbow, blushing furiously. “That’s not subtle at all, you know.”
Sirius grinned, shrugging. “I wasn’t trying to be.”

Sledding - @noblehouseofgay - word count: 877 - 25 Days of Jegumas
The highest mountain in Scotland was a sight to behold: a white-capped peak rising proudly above the Hogwarts grounds, surrounded by forests buried under a thick blanket of snow. It was freezing, of course, but James Potter was never one to let a bit of frostbite ruin a good time.
“This is mad,” Regulus Black muttered, his arms crossed as he surveyed the sheer slope below them. The wind whipped at his dark hair, but his glare was steady, aimed squarely at Barty Crouch Jr., who was grinning like a lunatic while finishing a series of intricate wand movements over the sleds lined up before them.
“Madness is half the fun,” Barty replied with a wink, stepping back to admire his handiwork.
Evan Rosier clapped him on the shoulder, his sharp grin matching Barty’s. “Come on, Black, don’t tell me you’re scared.”
Regulus rolled his eyes. “I’m not scared. I just have no desire to plummet to my death because Barty thought it would be fun to enchant the sleds.”
Sirius Black snorted, tossing an arm around his brother’s shoulders. “Oh, lighten up, Reggie. You’re not plummeting anywhere. Worst case, you crash into a tree.”
“That’s hardly comforting, Sirius.”
“Relax,” Remus Lupin said from where he stood near Sirius, wrapping his scarf tighter around his neck. “I already checked the enchantments. They’re safe… mostly.”
“Mostly?” Regulus echoed, his voice sharp.
James, meanwhile, was busy testing out the sled closest to him, rocking it back and forth on the snow. “I think it looks brilliant. You outdid yourself, Barty.”
Barty gave an exaggerated bow. “Why, thank you, Potter. I live to serve.”
“I’m surprised you’re so eager to try it, James,” Sirius said, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Reckless enthusiasm doesn’t usually end well for you.”
James scoffed. “I’ll have you know I’ve got impeccable sledding skills.”
“Since when?” Regulus asked dryly.
“Since today!” James declared, grinning as he grabbed Regulus’s hand and tugged him toward the sled. “Come on, you’re riding with me.”
“What?” Regulus pulled back, his cheeks flushing. “Absolutely not.”
“Too late, love. You’re my co-pilot now.”
Before Regulus could protest further, James was already settling onto the sled, gesturing for him to sit in front. Reluctantly, Regulus climbed on, muttering under his breath about James being insufferable.
Sirius, already sprawled on a sled with Remus, gave James a thumbs-up. “Try not to die, Prongs!”
“Same to you, Pads!”
Evan and Barty, of course, were completely unfazed by the danger. They had somehow managed to combine their sleds into one long, chaotic contraption that looked more like a death trap than a proper ride.
“Ready?” Barty called out, his wand raised.
“Ready!” came the collective response, though Regulus’s was more of a resigned grumble.
With a flick of Barty’s wand, the sleds lurched forward, propelled by an invisible force. The enchanted snow beneath them glittered in the sunlight, and within seconds, they were racing down the mountain at breakneck speed.
James whooped, the wind tearing through his hair as they picked up speed. Behind him, Regulus clung to the edges of the sled, his knuckles white.
“This is insane!” Regulus shouted over the roar of the wind.
“You’re having fun, admit it!” James yelled back, laughing.
“I am not!”
Ahead of them, Sirius and Remus were veering dangerously close to the edge of the slope, their laughter ringing out. Barty and Evan, on their absurd double-sled, zoomed past, narrowly avoiding a cluster of rocks.
“Look out!” Regulus cried, and James turned just in time to see a sharp curve approaching.
He yanked the sled to the side, but the enchantments had a mind of their own. The sled spun wildly, sending snow flying in all directions. James gripped Regulus tighter to keep them steady, his heart pounding.
“Hold on!”
The sled tilted, teetering on the edge of a steep drop before leveling out again. They skidded to a stop at the bottom of the slope, buried in a spray of powdery snow.
James groaned, shaking snow from his hair. “That was brilliant!”
Regulus sat up, his face pale. “Brilliant? You almost killed us!”
“Yeah, but we survived, didn’t we?” James grinned at him, his eyes sparkling behind his glasses. “You’ve got to admit, it was kind of fun.”
Regulus opened his mouth to argue, but the words never came. Instead, he just shook his head, a reluctant smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
The others arrived moments later, all of them laughing and covered in snow. Sirius and Remus tumbled off their sled, still tangled together, while Barty and Evan landed in a heap, cackling like maniacs.
“That,” Sirius declared, pointing at Barty, “was completely mental.”
“Thank you,” Barty said, bowing again.
Regulus shot him a glare, but there was no real heat behind it. “Next time, I’m staying at the castle.”
“Sure you are,” James said, slinging an arm around his shoulders. “But you’ll miss me too much to let me go without you.”
Regulus rolled his eyes, but he didn’t pull away.
As the group trudged back up the mountain, their laughter echoing through the crisp winter air, James couldn’t help but think that this—friends, chaos, and Regulus by his side—was exactly where he was meant to be.

wool - unofficial jegulus microfic - thanks, @emlovessid
"Oi, Reg! WOW, Is that James's sweater?"
The table quieted.
He and Sirius had been in a secret competition for days. He had no memory of how it started, but they'd spent the entire break working diligently to embarrass each other in front of Effie and Fleamont.
Call it revenge for Regulus keeping his and James's relationship a secret for the first month, or for Sirius stealing Regulus's broom and flying it into a tree 'for a prank' but Regulus and Sirius had been at each other's throats for a while. This was just the latest way.
"Did you steal my sweater, Reggie?" James piped up, a bit of a grin on his face.
Effie and Fleamont exchanged a grin next to him. They, clearly, found the whole thing entertaining.
But Regulus kept his cool, as he always did, and just picked at a strand of wool on his boyfriend's oversized sweater.
"Sorry, love. Sirius and Remus were rather busy in Sirius and I's room, so I had to borrow one," he said with a smirk, meeting Sirius's mortified expression.
Remus, sitting nearby and well-aware of the game Regulus and Sirius had been playing, burst into laughter.
"Kelpto," Sirius shot at Regulus as the rest of the table began to laugh.
"Slag," Regulus retorted smugly, snuggling deeper into the sweater.

Tiny steps
(James Potter / Regulus Black | 806 words)
For @jegulus-microfic prompt: Table
“Please.” James is looking at him with those puppy eyes that are really hard to resist. Not that Regulus is not trying. “I wanna see.”
“Stop whining, this blackmail is not gonna work.”
“But you saw Prongs,” James whines again. Ever since James found out Regulus is an animagus he hasn’t shut up about it.
“It’s not a big deal, James.”
James hesitates for a moment and then something victorious sparkles in his eyes. “You know, Reggie, I’m surprised. This is not very Slytherin of you. I thought you would be proud of what you achieved but maybe it’s that easy that everyone can do it. I mean I did.”
“It is not easy!” Regulus hisses and he knows he walked himself into that trap the second the words leave his mouth.
“So why don’t you show me?”
Regulus breathes out. Why can’t James just let things go. “He doesn’t like being around people,” Regulus admits truthfully.
This makes James to pause. “Oh, but… he would like me, wouldn’t he?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Why?” James asks sadly. Regulus walks towards James’ bed to stand between his legs. He softly cradles through the boy’s black curls and smiles at the feeling of James leaning to the touch.
“There are instincts in you, that you can control when you are human. But when you are an animal, your thoughts are not that clear.”
James rests his chin on Regulus' chest looking up at him. “Let me try, please.”
Regulus sights. It’s a lost battle he knows it. He kisses the top of James' head and takes a few steps back. “Don’t be disappointed if this won’t work out.”
Regulus takes a deep breath. Usually, he goes in his animagus form to the forest with no one around. He climbs the trees and digs in the ground. He has his favourite spot on the roof of one of the towers where he just lies in the sun for hours.
He feels the magic in him, the second heartbeat and shifts.
As always, the world seems a lot bigger from the perspective of a small kitten. He shakes his head to clear some fog of his brain. His head snaps to look at the source of the voice. “Reggie, you are so cute!” Before he can react, James is on his feet, taking long steps and reaching towards him.
The kitten squeaks and in a second it’s hiding behind the leg of the table. “Oh, Reg I’m sorry,” James says as he sits on the ground in front of the table. Regulus pushes through the kitten's instincts. He doesn’t want James to think he doesn’t like him. It feels better when the boy is sitting down. “I won’t be loud again, I promise.”
Regulus meows softly. He can see James biting his lip to stay quiet. He slowly walks around the table, his paws silent against the rug. He stops a few feet from the boy holding very still. James smiles at him as he whispers “Hello.”
He lifts his hand to touch him. Regulus fights the kitten again keeping it stay at the same spot. He digs his claws into the rug. He won’t run. He can’t, but hell he wants to. He can hear the fearful whine grumble in the kitten’s chest, his paws trembling. James snatches his hand away and the kitten flinches at the sudden movements.
They both hold very still as James clearly works something out in his mind. The kitten relaxes a little bit. “Oh, you are afraid of hands,” James says softly as he stares at his hands like they personally offended him. “I’m sorry, love. But you know I wouldn’t hurt you, right?” Regulus nods because he knows that. It’s James. “But instincts…” James whispers more to himself in understanding.
Before Regulus can do anything else James is moving again. He lies on the floor on his stomach, his arms folded underneath his chest. “How about this? See? I won’t touch you.”
The kitten eyes him suspiciously, but without the big grabby hands, it is easier for the kitten to move. Regulus hasn’t realised that this could be the solution. He slowly approaches the boy, who patiently holds very still. He stops in front of him looking deep into those brown eyes.
“You are very beautiful,” James whispers and when the kitten just blinks in interest he continues. “I love the grey colour. Also, don’t bite me, but I can’t get over how fluffy and cute you are.”
Regulus wrinkles his nose the long whiskers flying around as James laughs. With his heightened hearing the sound completely surrounds him. It’s not deafening or threatening. No. James' laughter was always calming for Regulus. He meows happily and bumps his nose against James' glasses leaving a smudged spot.
“We got this, little one,” James promises and the kitten purrs.

@jegulus-microfic 🌻 12 June 🌻 Prompt: Challenge 🌻 Words count: 227
🌻
It was a warm early afternoon and Regulus was sitting under a tree near the Black Lake, talking with Pandora about their school day.
There was a moment of silence in which Regulus decided to lay on the grass and to close his eyes.
-I think you fancy James Potter - Pandora randomly said, while making a flower crown.
-What!? - Regulus replied, opening wide his eyes and sitting again to face the blonde girl - I don’t fancy Potter! Have you seen him? He is definitely not my type.
-Yeah, sure… - she said smiling - So, you’ll never go in a date with him, right?
-Of course! Believe me, Potter won’t last ten minutes and he’ll run away, realising it was a mistake to ask me out - Regulus said, in a tone mixed with proud and sadness.
-Is this a challenge? - a voice replied from behind the tree: it was James Potter.
-I love challenges! So… Hogsmead at 5 p.m.? Don’t be late Reggie! - James said with a grin, leaving before Regulus could answer.
-And you’re not going there, are you? Because you don’t fancy him, do you? - Pandora asked mockingly with a soft smile.
-Well… I’ll prove him I’m right… And I don’t fancy him!
Despite Regulus’ thought, James didn’t run away… but he asked him for a second date!

Marauders: reactions to The Prank
(I was asked for my thoughts, so here you are! I’m basing this off canon, not the more fanon based characterisation of the marauders, especially Remus!)
Part 1: Remus
Part 2: Sirius
He doesn’t just randomly one day tell that bastard Snape about how to get past the Whomping Willow. FFS there’s a reason for it. Or rather, lots of reasons (relating to Snape & his gang, to his parents, to his idiot too-soft brother, to his protectiveness towards his friends and most especially towards Remus who has enough problems already). Did he talk to anyone about what was going on for him and how he was feeling??? *scoffs in stiff upper lip*
TL; DR - That fucker will rue the day he tried to ruin Remus John Lupin’s life.
Exact details of why it happened and how it happened here: Boys Don’t Cry
It takes him some time to fully appreciate that Snape has actually, genuinely, decided to prove Remus is a werewolf immediately, and fuck it, he’s so angry at Snape in that moment he may have wished him dead, might have goaded him into… well, that’s hardly a surprise: he’s a Black, after all. He was always going to go down the wrong path, fuck things up, prove his mother right…
He drinks a bottle of firewhisky in one go. He tells James. He collapses in a corner of the Common Room while James springs into action to save the fucking day. He has fucked everything up.
He manages to access Dumbledore’s sleeping quarters later that night (pretty hard for a student to achieve, let alone a completely sozzled one) and wakes him up to tell him. “It was I, Sirius Orion Black, who told that wanker Sniv” (That’s how Reg would have put it, because he’s a snooty idiot)
He tells Dumbledore it was all his fault, only because Prongs is a fool and might try to take the fall for him.
He was right. He knows Prongs better than he knows himself.
He has a very uncomfortable meeting with Dumbledore the next day where he has to sit and listen to the headmaster pretending to be concerned for his wellbeing. Frankly, he doesn’t give a shit about being expelled, or ruining his friendships, or anything, really.
Weirdly, Dumbledore (who he’s pretty sure doesn’t like him, because unlike most students who worship the Headmaster, he’s not into licking arses, well not that ar oh forget it) decides that what’s done is done and he’s not expelled. His parents aren’t even told. Very odd (thank fuck, what a massive relief. He deserved an Orion Special Punishment though. He almost wishes Dumbles told them). He’s to do detention every Friday for most of next year though, with Minnie M Gonagall. He secretly thinks that could be ok, nice even, but fucked if he’ll ever admit that!
He doesn’t talk to the others because why would they want him now? They’ll definitely disown him, and he deserves it, so…
On the last day of school, Prongs manages to give him a pep talk without actually saying a single word. *stares ahead and blinks in Boys Don’t Cry*
He goes home for the summer. Walburga monitors all his mail, so even in the unlikely event that anyone DID try to contact him, he won’t get the owl. He’s pretty certain nobody tries.
It’s not exactly a roaring success of a summer (ask his father, his mother, Reggie or Bella for details).
To cut a long story short - he gets disowned and blasted off the Black Family Tree. He doesn’t care. He refuses to care. He runs away to James’ house because he didn’t have time to make a good/better plan, and then it was too late cause he blacked out, and whatever. He’s completely fine.
He wakes up to find James being a ponce and, well, Babbitty Rabbiting on about how great it’ll be to have him living there, how he was really worried about him etc etc. Prongs thinks he’s still unconscious so he keeps his mouth shut. It’s quite heartwarming hilarious actually. He decides he better stay to monitor James’ mental state (also the Potters are implacable af in the rare case when they put their foot down and refuse to be moved) …
He’s dreading the train journey back to school on 1st September. He doesn’t see Remus. Unfortunately, he does see his parents (who are spitting fire at Mia Potter - FYI: unwise, but they learn that the hard way) and Reg (who ignores him because he’s not family any more). He doesn’t care though. He’s completely fine. He refuses to care.
He knows he needs to apologise to Remus but he’s really awful at apologising because what if Remus refuses his apology, not that he’d be that devastated but nobody ever apologised in his house so he’s not used to it.
He isn’t a coward though.
He eventually apologises.
Remus calls the whole thing a silly prank, soon James is referring to it, offhand, as The Prank. He’s pretty astute at figuring out people’s feelings, he can see Remus tensing any time it’s brought up.
But if anyone were to ask him about it? “It served him right. Sneaking around, trying to find out what we were up to …hoping to get us expelled…” *clears throat in pureblood*
Regret it???? “Je ne regrette rien.”
I try to laugh about it/ Cover it all up with lies/I try to laugh about it/ Hiding the tears in my eyes/ Cause boys don't cry
[My version of the prank and the canon marauders story afterwards including Halloween 1981 and what actually happened, in case anyone is interested]
