Since Sylvain is now added into FEH, I think now is time to ask you what are your opinions on Joe Brogie?

Joe Brogie has to be one of the second-most interesting of the Fodlan VAs behind Joe Zieja. Street magician? No wonder he was cast for Sylvain, lmao.

So Joe plays Sylvain and Linus, and FINALLY we are getting base Sylvain! Can’t wait to 10+ him, I’ve been needing a good axe cav that I want to build.

Performance-wise, I’ll be honest: I prefer Joe as Sylvain, and while his Linus is serviceable, I’m not as fond of it. But I will say that I may partially attribute that to the voice director issues the same way that Antony Del Rio, Todd Haberkorn, and partially Greg Chun used to have that issue when they were first playing their roles in FEH. It’s just that Linus sounds a little TOO forced, almost borderline frat-boy surfer-dude voice (which I don’t know enough about Linus to say if that fits or not, so that’s more subjective). But his Sylvain is such a perfect, laid back friend voice with the perfect suaveness to his flirty personality. Another very casual voice that sounds less like a stereotypical anime performance and more natural. Weird personal favorite, but I love his Hopes critical line “Hey, you tried!”. It’s the perfect taunt.

I do think he fits Sylvain, and I DO think that he was a good cast as Linus. I just really want to see a Linus alt sometime soon so Joe gets another chance to show his stuff (and maybe lay off the Nino alts please).

Range-wise, it’s pretty much kind of limited; I’d say that Joe’s more of a type-actor than a range-actor, but that’s not always a bad thing.

Overall, while I do adore Joe’s Sylvain, realistically he’s a 7/10. But he’s 8/10 in my book and I always love seeing a Sylvain unit or alt.

Well, I got to listen to Fallen Linus. Joe Brogie CRUSHED it with this performance, I like the quiet contrast to his regular loud tone. Honestly this shows he has range, he could easily play an edgy lone-wolf character with that kind of voice.

Yup I actually listened to it yesterday and like I said, it’s a huge improvement from Linus’ base alt.

Tho, I find his line about Nino to be quite tragic and his situation to be similar to Engage’s Corrupted not aware of them being dead. (Don’t know if that happen in his home game but I’m pretty sure reanimated corpses who didn’t know they’re dead isn’t anything new in an FE game)

Reasons why I hate sylvain’s voice actor

As much as I don’t care about Byleth, I will say that Hidari’s art of her slaps and it’s also crazy that’s it’s been 4 years since Hidari did anything for FEH.

Also while I’m not familiar with FE7, you’re right on Linus gaining another alt since it’s been already 5-6 years since he’s released and while it sucked that he is a Grail unit, at least Joe Brogie is given more work to improve on Linus so no hard feelings.

Fallen Chrom is kind of the same as Fallen Ike and I’m liking it because of how amazing those concepts are and the fact that Fujisaki Kimihiko drew them is also a plus. (Also it seems like they’re going back to their old art style after their last one at Brave F!Byleth)

Yeah, I'm not really a Byleth fan either. And with F!Byleth, it's pretty clear that it's not her personality that makes her popular, more like two really big reasons for that.

But yeah, I was SHOCKED to see Hidari getting to do more art. They should get some more FEH art more often! I adored their style in Echoes, it was very... I'm gonna say quaint, in a positive way. Something about the style really invoked the medieval aspect of FEH that most of the more recent games haven't been able to really do.

Linus absolutely deserves that alt, and honestly that "Not like this!" is more of a teasing than anything. I just wonder what his art is gonna look like, because Morphs have dark hair and yellow eyes. So are they gonna go the Morph route (that the games never actually got to do probably due to time/graphical restraints) or just give him an aura? I'm curious to see how it'll look. And I think it's funny we were just talking about Linus with Joe Brogie, I'm psyched to hear his performance for FALLEN Linus. And no worries, I'm not familiar with FE7 either, sadly.

I remember hearing people begging for Fell King Chrom and thinking it probably wouldn't come to fruition, but I'm honestly glad it did. It gives us more opportunities for FEH content. And honestly Chrom looks AMAZING! I like to think that Fujisaki Kimihiko doesn't like F!Byleth that much either, lmao. Maybe that's why their art looks so awesome again.
