Kira's Sim Yu-Niverse: Nerd Herd Again, Now With Serenity and TKB

I've revamped the Nerd Herd yet again (this should be the last one for a while 😅), and this time I've decided to include Serenity and TKB, since they'll each be part of one of my main households at some point.

The old save was kind of a mess, because I started it back in 2019 and it was a while before I came up with any real gameplay rules, so I'm thinking of starting again from an earlier point in the timeline - probably halfway between the Ceremonial Duel and DSOD, although I'm not sure if DSOD is an ingredient in my canon soup. 🤔 So yeah, when I start posting my gameplay, you'll be able to see the whole thing from the beginning! :D

Yugi's aspiration is The Curator, and his traits are Geek, Good, Loyal and Self-Assured (character development, cornflakes~).

Atem's aspiration is Discover Life (by Midnitetech), and his traits are Genius, Competitive (by Kuttoe), Geek and Socially Awkward.

I was lucky enough to win the Goth Galore kit in a giveaway earlier this year, and it's perfect for Yugi! I wish there were more CC addons for it, though.

Joey's aspiration is Friend of the World (still not sure about that, but I can't think of anything that works 🤷‍♀️), and his traits are Active, Glutton, Hot-Headed, Loyal and Outgoing.

Serenity's aspiration is Discover Life (at least until I settle on something else), and her traits are Gentle (by Lazurite, adopted by Chingyu), Loves Outdoors, Music Lover and Cheerful.

Fun fact: While I was playtesting the cornflakes, Wonderful Whims told me that Serenity found Téa extremely attractive. I haven't set anyone's preferences yet, so I guess my game's a Sideshipper! 😂

Téa's aspiration is World-Famous Celebrity, and her traits are Outgoing, Hot-Headed, Dance Machine and Ambitious.

Tristan's aspiration is Soulmate, and his traits are Dog Lover, Active, Loyal and Romantic.

We still need a dance career. 😔

Ryo's aspiration is either Bestselling Author or Paranormal Investigator (from Lifetime Aspirations Reworked - I like both for him), and his traits are Gentle, Geek, Glutton and Creative.

TKB's aspiration is Discover Life, and his traits are Glutton, Kleptomaniac, Geek and Can't Stand Cold (by NateTheL0ser). (Yep, I kind of struggled, ^^;. He's not exactly evil anymore at this point, so I wasn't sure what else to give him.)

Having them live together should be fun, especially with Tristan thrown in... (I've had Thoughts about this. Not all of them will work in-game, but still.)

Oh, and I took some inspiration from this piece of art for TKB's face!

Miho's aspiration is Soulmate, and her traits are Bookworm, Cheerful, Materialistic and Romantic.

Duke's aspiration is Computer Whiz, and his traits are Genius, Geek, Romantic and Outgoing.

These cornflakes just kept rolling wants to talk to each other during playtesting, and these probably weren't even the same Sims from the original save! I'm pretty sure I remade them from scratch! It's like the game itself ships them! VANITYSHIPPERS, UNITE! (All... maybe three of us! 😂)

Next up are the Kaibas (including Roland) and the Ishtars, and then some characters I haven't posted before! 👀

So, because of my kidney stone and the election happening at the same time, I started watching Friends from the beginning all the way through, as a pleasant departure from reality. Today I finished watching all ten seasons. I watched it when it was first airing on nbc and again multiple times throughout my life but I don’t think I ever watched it start to finish like this before. Notably it was as background tv to playing animal crossing and sundry tasks, so it’s not like I was truly binging it in the hyper focus sense. But anyway I have some thoughts.

One, Chandler’s dad is a trans woman who is also a professional drag queen and she is unfairly maligned by the entire cast repeatedly, which sucks, but if we extend the fiction twenty years she would be a repeated guest judge on drag race and Chandler would get cool points galore.

Two, Chandler is nonbinary. Obviously the language and common awareness of this way of being wasn’t really out there when the show aired but presumably Phoebe or his dad would bring it up eventually, and my god is it written into the show. Every time Chandler is powerfully uncomfortable and disingenuous it’s because of a failure of fitting into explicit gender roles. Every time he expresses disgust at girly things, he is shown indulging in them in secret or with his most trusted confidants later. Every time he enjoys girly things comfortably he has to balance it out with machismo afterwards, but he is hopelessly uncomfortable with machismo as well. And it’s not just that kind of stuff, it’s his role in the friend group as occasional genderless clown, his self presentation, his repeatedly acceptance of mediocre compromise in his professional and romantic life because to really ask for what he wants seems impossible… I could go on. But anyway hopefully mid 50s Chandler is signing his emails with “Chandler Bing, he/they” and crossing his fingers that nobody asks him about it and then his work friends throw him a surprise coming out party he didn’t want.

Three, Chandler, Monica, and Joey are clearly in a poly situationship - we have regressed societally in a lot of ways but the ease with which male friendship and deep affection was expressed on Friends sticks out particularly in light of our current culture, but the three of them have something definitely beyond that. Like, Joey has a room in their house. Joey asks if he can have an aquarium and a sex swing in that room. Who are you sharing the sex swing with out in the suburbs, Joey???

Four, a lot has been said about the insidious silent racism of Friends’ extremely white fictional NYC, but wholly shit it pales in comparison to the rampant, explicit, unquestioned fatphobia. The fatphobia shows up in every episode. There is not a single fat character presented in a positive light. The only reason ugly naked guy is ugly is because he gained weight. Monica’s entire character is built on fatphobia. Even the kindest characters most accepting of individuality use fatness as an insult. We never even get a fat and happy stereotype, unless you count oblivious past fat Monica dancing while eating pizza, but we know she becomes thin shortly after this and also immediately before that shot she is described as “a pile of coats” on a bed. So like, ew. Anyway, the time period the show was filmed during is one of the worst for fat positivity. The perilously thin ideal body type of the mid 90s to early oughts is reflected in the show, but the show was making the culture for nearly half its seasons so it’s not like the writers were powerless to stop it or anything.

Five, Rachel should have ended up with Ross but Ross should have given up tenure to go to France with her! What absolute bullshit. He could have taken sabbatical and spent a gloriously romantic French summer with her and then they could have done the international young parents thing for a bit and Rachel could have come back after a few years to an even better job in the city. The way the whole show was about her slowly growing up and becoming assertive and taking risks and then the complete doormat Ross keeps her from a Parisian high fashion adventure??? Complete dud. I remember thinking this when it first aired, but goddamn, as a 40 year old I am so deeply disappointed.

Six, Phoebe is obviously bisexual and hopefully she came out to everyone some time soon after the show end, and also Mike made no sense. Like, he was fine, and fit in with the friend group okay, and obviously he is Paul Rudd so he is super cute and hot enough for Phoebe, but he was obviously shoehorned in and then barely developed. Half of the boys’ single episode dates had more personality than Mike shows for his entire run. David on the other hand was romantically planted for Phoebe for the entire show and was shockingly memorable considering how few episodes he was actually in. Phoebe’s ending should have been her getting a passport and flying to France with Rachel to be her translator and David meeting them at the airport because it turns out he and Phoebe had been penpals the whole time. But I digress.

Seven, did Ben and Carol die? Ben is phased out slowly, like, he shows up a few times as an older kid and then is mentioned in passing a few times, but Carol is basically disappeared into the void. She is seen like, once in the back half of the seasons and then never shows up or is mentioned again. She should have been there to tell Ross to go to France. She was supposed to be his friend. And his coparent. The rest of the friends all really liked her, and she fit into the expanded world perfectly well, alongside characters like Janice and Gunther, both of whom had important scenes in the last few episodes. So why not have a Carol cameo? A phone call??? Anything? A mention that Carol and Susan had moved to the burbs earlier and now Monica and Chandler were doing the same? Something?????? Poor work.

Eight, despite some of my issues above, Friends is an incredible piece of television. The ensemble never stops having chemistry. The combinations of characters always reveal a new element or dynamic. The costumes and sets are absolutely iconic, in ways I only now appreciate but inherently understood the first time. There is some of the tightest sitcom writing of all time. The guest stars were outrageous but always integrated, and the ensemble actors stood toe to toe with them no problem. There are genuine moments of love and stupidly funny gags all the time. Like, I’m annoyed by plenty of little things. But taken as a whole I now get why it was so big at the time and why it continues to endure.

Good Morning Earthlings! I have already shared big news that I graduated from college! After 5 years I now have my Bachelor in Fine Arts thanks to Graphic Design! I did take a bit of a break but now I got a bunch of updates!

Endless Nights at Freddy's

I already have two comic shorts planned. WIPs will be up soon at 12CST for Superfans and VIP Pass

Adventure Show will be going through some new renders and both me and my co creator are working on making the first comic

The Classics will soon be completely redesigned with Moxie and Theo left! All patrons can see the currently finished lineups and Moxie and Theo will be WIPs

The Cabarets will return to being worked on, hopefully after the Classics. The WIPs will be shared soon!

Sonic Ruby: A story created by me and my boyfriend that has been in the works since we were in high school! Currently I'm going through redesigns of our characters. I already finished redesigning one of them, Jinx and Joey! I'll post her design to patrons only then when I make the full profile, it will be posted publicly

Wild World: An original idea I have based on my love of animals and Y2K era of fashion. It features cute animals and is kinda like Hello Kitty for an audience around my age. It started off as a graphic design project and now it's a new thing! I might start with profiles soon!

Catalina Ahoy, again!

BETWEEN LA JOLLA AND SANTA CATALINA ISLAND: "Snagglepuss," Peter Potamus was asking me as the vessel of his Magic Divers, the Diver's Delight, set sail from La Jolla to Catalina Island, "I assume you still remember the last time so many of us Funtastics were on Catalina for the Avalon Harbour Underwater Cleanup."

"Before the pandemic, even," replied I. "Huckleberry Hound and I arranged it spur of the moment, more or less, as a Character Convocation of sorts."

"Especially so when Lippy the Lion and I found that iron bedframe in Avalon Harbour."

"I assume they still talk about it!"

"Somehow, during our recent diving escapade in the Caribbean, yours truly, the Ambassador for Diving, in a way, of Hanna-Barberadom, thought it might be worthwhile to bring our dive crew back to Catalina to join in the Underwater Cleanup this year." (Pause) "Which, as you know, is the one and only time in the year when diving is allowed in Avalon Bay on Catalina Island!"

"And no doubt TC's clowder will be present as well."

"As guests of the legendary Catalina Diving Clowder," as Peter explained it with his suave, come-hither sort of charm. "Ourselves, this vessel will be at anchor a little to the south of Avalon, what with the harbour area being cleaned up Saturday."

"So we'll be staying aboard the Diver's Delight for the most part?"

"We do have a couple of inflatable Zodiac boats as will ferry us divers to Avalon."

Presently, Huckleberry Hound "himself" came along and noted where the Magic Divers "will certainly be in readiness" for the weekend, and that Top Cat called to confirm his clowder's presence.

"I do assume," saith I, "that the Diving Clowder will have their quarters being Hospitality Headquarters for our diving confraternity."

"And, later in the weekend," Peter chimed in, "perhaps inviting us for some diving galore."

"Won't that be interesting?"

"Especially with the Divin' Wolf Pups expected to put in their due per the cleanup."

"You mean Bon-Bon and Ding-a-Ling?" (Who, as if on cue, made their presence known, both responding together, "Who else?!")

Anyhow, there's bound to be more from Catalina in upcoming editions. You're sure to want to enjoy them....

Can I ask for Honeymoon themed headcanons for June x Joey, please??

I can imagine one of two honeymoons for them. Okay, maybe three.

Number One: Vegas. Bright lights, endless fun, music and entertainment galore. I can definitely see that being a place they’d enjoy for a long weekend away.

Number Two: Broadway. Closer to home, obviously, but they just spend a week seeing shows, some actual Broadway performances, and some that are more off-broadway.

Yet, these options all depend on when they get married. If it’s while Joey is on Days Of Our Lives then there’s even a chance they’ll spring for a tropical location with a fancy hotel and a spa, and spend most of their time either at the beach, the pool or in their room ordering copious amounts of room service.

While you might expect that their honeymoon would be nothing but sex, sex, sex, no matter where it happens to be (because, come on, it’s Joey), that’s actually not really the case.

On the first night, that might be true, but after that, whether a few days or a whole week, they’d both want to be out having fun, experiencing things they don’t normally get to. There’ll be plenty of time spent in the bedroom throughout their marriage, so why not live a little before settling into married life?

Monday, April 1, 2013 Great American Ball Park

Final score: Angels 8, Reds 2 (10 innings) MVP: PH Kole Calhoun, Angels: 1-1, 1 HR, 3 RBI

In a historic game, the first of what will be a season-long stretch of interleague play, a direct consequence of the Astros joining the American League and creating 2 equal 15-team divisions, Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park hosted the first such event. And the fans were in for a treat, though the majority of them went home disappointed with the final result. Jered Weaver and Johnny Cueto each pitched 7 marvelous innings, though Weaver, who only allowed 1 hit, greatly struggled with locating the plate as he issued 8 walks. The Reds made a late comeback, getting 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th and even threatening to pull off a great comeback as they loaded the bases with 2 outs but were unable to pull it off; the Angels came back to bullrush the Reds relievers for 6 runs in the 10th inning to walk away victorious. Dooming the Reds today, though, was the inability to cash in on the 11 free passes handed out by the Angels pitchers - the last of those, Shin-Soo Choo in the 9th inning after the game had been tied up, being erased on the basepaths when he was hit by a line-drive off the bat of Brandon Phillips, becoming the second out of the inning.

LAA 8/9/1 – WP: Garrett Richards (1-0) CIN 2/7/0 – LP: Tony Cingrani (0-1)

LAA 1st: Mike Trout smacks a lead off double to center, takes third on a ground out to 1st, and scores easily on an Albert Pujols sacrifice fly. 1-0 LAA LAA 4th: Mark Trumbo jacks a 2-out, 3-1 pitch into the left field seats for a solo home run. 2-0 SD Cin 9th: Pinch-hitter Chris Heisey ropes a 1-out single to left; pinch-hitter Xavier Paul follows with a deep 2-run shot to right field; Shin-Soo Choo is walked, but is erased when he is hit on the basepaths by a line drive off the bat of Brandon Phillips, becoming the 2nd out of the inning; Phillips gets to 2nd on a single by Joey Votto and to 3rd on a single by pinch-hitter Devin Mesoraco, which loads the bases; Jay Bruce strikes out to end the inning, leaving the bases load. 2-2 LAA 10th: Erick Aybar draws a lead off walk; after a strike out, Josh Hamilton singles to left; Mark Trumbo walks, loading the bases, Howie Kendrick walks, driving in the go-ahead run; Alberto Callaspo walks, forcing in another run; Chris Iannetta grounds to shortstop but gets to first before the relay, allowing a run to score on the force play at 2nd; pinch-hitter Kole Calhoun smashes a shot over the right field wall. 8-2 LAA

(Strat note: once again, the offensive line-ups were fine, though I can't vouch for all 6 pinch hitters used over the course of the game. Also once again, holy bonkers! Not counting an intentional base on balls of Pujols to maintain a double play situation, the pitchers combined for 17 combined walks - including Weaver's aforementioned 8; 4 of the Reds pitchers 6 walks came in the 10th inning, all by Tony Cingrani, and 2 of them with the bases loaded, forcing in 2 runs. Weaver otherwise only allowed 1 hit through 7, but I had to pull him because all the walks caused him to reach 'fatigue' status. Eleven different players received at least 1 base on balls, of which 4 players had at least 2 walks (Jay Bruce had 3!). It was hard to pick a player of the game because the offensive explosion was so balanced - only 1 Angel had more than 1 hit (Trout), and the only one with more than 1 RBI was Calhoun, who hit a 3-run homer in the 10th that capped off the scoring. Weaver's dominating performance received consideration, but man, those walks. Interestingly, the real life counterpart was a 13-inning affair, won by the Angels.)
