Revenge bedtime procrastination: Decision to sacrifice sleep for leisure time due to lack of free time during the day.
Ofc we sacrifice sleep for the little time we have to be ourselves. The time where we can finally listen to our own thoughts loud and clear and less jumbled, when we don't have to pretend, when we won't get any work related calls or calls from people in general, when we can breathe, sing if we want to or puff our eyes out crying ugly, read our favorite book, sit and stare at the wall if we want, put our legs up the wall and listen to music, let our skin breathe, not worry about how uncool we look and feel, how sexy we are, stalk our exes. It's the only time we choose not to worry about future and let go. Live and breathe!
So what if we wake up next day feeling like shit...we atleast had a bit of heaven in the night when we sacrificed our sleep.

Okay. I'm not trying to gatekeep the series here, I'm really not. But good lord, people, you need like, some actual reading comprehension with these books. If I see one more post *anywhere* that says "yes, I've read all three books so far, where are people finding [major plot point]? I didn't get that at all." I'm going to send them to the Third Grade English Dimension.

I’m not going to reblog the post itself because I don’t want that behavior on my blog, but oh my god I just saw a post about “looking for fics about your favorite character on ao3” and good lord the amount of bad takes both in that post and in the notes?? I have to just ramble about this for a moment because oh my god. it was ludicrous.
people were complaining that, and get this, unfinished fics exist. and that if you read an unfinished fic you’ll have to, get this, wait to read more until it’s published next. they were allll up in arms that there’s fics for a character that don’t cater to their specific interests. that they involve other characters and either do/don’t put them in a romantic relationship when they want the opposite for the character.
like at this point, most of you people in the notes on that post are 1) just being mean and condescending about FREE WORKS you can, may I remind you, READ FOR FREE and EXIT at ANY time! if you don’t like it!, don’t read it!, it’s so simple!, and 2) straight up do not know how ao3 works lmao
like I saw soooo many people in the notes complaining about a certain ship, dynamic, tag, etc, and like… y’all know you can filter by romantic vs platonic pairings, by ratings, by excluding certain tags or other qualifiers, etc etc etc… you know about ao3’s actually incredibly usable filtering and searching system… right… right??
at this point I’m just convinced a lot of these people are spoiled by large fandoms with 100k+ works for their characters and have decided to just be mean and condescending for no reason on main, about literally free fan works you can read for free any time that people spend hours and hours pouring their free time into out of sheer love for their craft. cuckoo bananas behavior if you ask me 🫠
I was legit so close to commenting that maybe they should try shipping two characters with <10 fics, with 0 fics, try liking a rare pair, try hyperfocusing on a character or niche type of fandom with a tiny but lovely circle of fans, and stop treating fan works and fic as Content TM that they deserve to have handed to them that caters to exactly what they want for free and maybe they’ll calm down lmao
like y’all aren’t cool you’re just being mean. we fundamentally approach fic in wildly different ways and honestly the way you do sounds exhausting. literally could not be me, I’m to busy finding joy in shared love for characters and not flipping the table in a rage because there’s one (1) element of the fic that isn’t specifically catered to me, maybe try that and you’ll feel better, hmm?
and yeah I’m aware that last sentence is me being condescending towards them, but frankly it’s warranted when so many people are being that mean and haughty for no reason lmao but truly those takes were horrific. fellow fic writers and even fellow fic readers I interact with, am mutuals with, authors whose works I read, readers who comment and interact with my works, fans of niche fandom subsets that run in the same circles as me— I hope you know this is so wildly not how I approach fics, I love just finding fics for my characters and forming these lil communities where we share our interests and love for them and hype each other up. I love what we have in these fandom niches and I hope you know I would never dream of being so mean and condescending towards y’all. fic writers and readers and fan communities are so special and I cherish it even if clearly there’s people in the notes on that other post who don’t know how to do that lmao. I love your unfinished WIPs, I love your fics that may only partially be what I’m looking for, I love when you write characters in a way I wouldn’t expect but shows your love for your particular headcanon, I love the variety and diversity and variance in fic. I love us. genuinely. fic writer moots I am hugging all of you and I frequently reread your works, even the unfinished ones. ♡

hi, aidoneus!! how've you been?? i hope well? i was curious — do you have any book recommendations? your tone is very articulate and distinct (positive). i just got the vibe that you might be well versed in your literature (although, i could be completely off, so forgive me if i am!!) because of that.i hope you have a wonderful day!! :)
I have been tired, but alright for the most part. And I’m glad you enjoy the writing style (I get teased for sounding like an old man haha), thank you. I wish you a good day also! Have you been well?
I do enjoy literature, and I wish I read as much as I used to. My knowledge of good/popular new releases is abysmally out of date, so I would have to ask my darling if you have more contemporary YA romance tastes. You will have to be more specific about what kind of books and genres you are interested in so I can provide more tailored recommendations. I have too varied and too many favourites to provide general suggestions.

Book ask game!
🧾What is the most memorable book ending you’ve ever read? Did it leave you satisfied or wanting more?
📔Do you have any bookish rituals or habits that you follow before, during, or after reading a book?
both or one, go wild go crazy
🧾- I don't think it was my favorite, I think there are others, but I will always remember Gideon the Ninth's ending. Muir had an excellent eye for what we wanted, and how to use it to hurt us. I wanted more, but I think I also disagree a little with Muir on her endings. Still a hell of a writer, though, I respect her immensely.
To cast the net a little broader, the endings to Dungeon Meshi and Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer are solid gold, and I love them both desperately. Both are excellently paced conclusions to the stories they set out to tell, and narratively incredibly satisfying. But that's manga, not books.
📔 - The most ritual I have is, after I finish any book, I sit down and do nothing for a bit. I let the book sit with me. What did I like, what did I disagree with, what was compelling about it, what was it doing. I let my writer's brain spin and see what it turns up. Even if I didn't like a book, or disliked parts of a book, I always try to turn up something it did well, and so far, I have never failed to do so. Basically, I want a why for anything I thought or felt during the reading of the book.
Thanks for the asks, Sumi! Go well.

When ppl in person realize i can draw, and i mention im writing, theyre like: oh are you making a comic? Then when i say no, it took me 30 days to do a 30 page 1 chapter comic last time I tried at 4-6 hours of work a day and ideally id like a turnaround of like one 30 page chapter per 1-2 weeks if i was going to do it long term so. No. I am not making comics any more.
Then theyre like: are u gonna illustrate ur book???
And while i deeply appreciate the sentiment. Its also like... well my good sir madam elder, do u typically... look for adult novels with illustration pages? I mean yes i love illustrations too but im not sure why id draw extra, when im already gonna probably make my own cover, and i want my books to be enough within confines of expected that ppl idk... give em a chance? Idk. Food for thought. Do i illustrate my book chapters mm

A friend asked if I have ever wanted to become a writer. I said I did. When I was me, an uncorrupted, all-believing, naive ol' me. The me who wanted to express everything I've felt. From joy to love. From sorrow to pain. Everything. And I did. I did write. Before I had my first heartbreak. A wall around my heart put a block on my writing. More than a decade later, after so many torn single-word and single-sentence pages, I think I have finally found a place to call my own to express myself. No, it's not a person. It's just an online platform. As heartbreaking as it sounds, random people will read about my joy, sorrow, love and pain but not the people who truly matter.

I will say if you're learning chinese to read novels, it's a win win in some ways. To improve? You gotta read. What do you want to do? Read. Is there adequate interesting reading material just a literal glance in any direction? Oh wow you bet. You can't even fathom how many good novels await you in whatever genres you're looking for, many of which will be free and accessible online, with audio books too!

Kill Joy By Holly Jackson
Synopsis: Pippa Fitz-Amobi is not in the mood for her friend's murder mystery party. Especially one that involves 1920's fancy dress and pretending that their town, Little Kilton, is an island called Joy. But when the game begins, Pip finds herself drawn into the make-believe world of intrigue, deception and murder.
Review and Rant:
I really don't have much to say about this book. I really liked it. I liked how we got to see why Pip choose to do that case. And it's really attention-grabbing. Anyways, the book is a short novella with a total of 12 chapters. So it's a quick read.
Also, this book takes place before the series started so sadly you won't be getting any Pip and Ravi moments sadly. But except that it's a pretty awesome book and I would give it a 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. The book is also bittersweet I just wanted to add that because if you read the whole entire series then you would know why it's bittersweet.
Anyways there's not much to say about the book.

it is amazing how attempting to read Dune has killed my reading habit. aside from trying to re-read Sandman, i have not opened a book for like two years now. i tried going back to Dune, but gawd it is SO BORING.
all i can think about now is The Interview with the Vampire, so what if i tried to read that. i'm afraid i would be massively disappointed in the tv show though :C
