First impression: Wow, a male anime protagonist who genuinely cares about the well-being of his party members and isn't weird at all about his sister. Aight, I'm down!

Impression now: This motherfucker is a fucking clown and I need to fucking study him. I 1000% support all of his rights and wrongs. He deserves everything that happens to him. What a mess. What an icon.

Favorite moment: Tis a spoiler moment, but I completely support his wild af decision to do the most insane fucking shit I've ever seen a protagonist do.

Perfect example of following your dreams at all costs AND still managing to save the day in one of the most disturbing/insane bouts of 5D chess I've ever been privileged to witness.

Idea for a story: I don't have anything concrete in mind, but I think it'd be funny if there was a Dungeon Meshi x Hell's Kitchen/Top Chef crossover. I wanna see the gang compete in a reality cooking competition pfffttt

Favorite relationship: I love his friendship with Marcille so much. It's nice to see a platonic ride or die dynamic. I especially love how even though Laios drives her bonkers, Marcille doesn't belittle him for his interests or wacky plans. She's just as long for the ride as he is.

Favorite headcanon: I'm not sure if I have any headcanons for Laios. I'll have to think about it some more.

Why Sonic sucked in the second half of the 2010s

-A lot of this second post is speculation based on what I've seen on The Cutting Room Floor, heard in interviews, and pieced together myself. Japanese studios are notoriously tight-lipped, so it's hard to get a clear and definitive picture of what happened, but this seems to be the likely story.-

Do I really have to talk about Sonic Lost World? It's so immensely boring and poorly tuned, I nearly forgot to mention it in either of these posts. TL;DR SonicTeam scrapped the successful and popular boost formula gameplay to try to copy Super Mario Galaxy almost 10 years after it released. The game sucked and the story and script sucked, but that's just down to SonicTeam forgetting to take their brain pills every morning during the planning phase of development.

What I REALLY want to talk about is Sonic BOOM. Finally realizing that it's almost exclusively the Western world that cares about Sonic, SEGA partnered with the newly-founded studio Big Red Button to begin development on Sonic Synergy. Founded by ex-Naughty Dog developers in 2007, they seemed to be the perfect team to reinvent Sonic specifically for North American audiences.

And they probably were, but we'll never know, because of what happened next...

In the early 2010s, SEGA signed on with French animation studio OuiDo! productions to begin work on an unrelated animated comedy Sonic TV series, Sonic BOOM. At this point, SEGA seem to have had a really stupid version of a Jimmy Neutron Brain Blast, and decided, "Hey, what if we combined both the Big Red Button and OuiDo! projects into one thing? And made the video game a tie-in with the animated series!" So SEGA goes to Big Red Button, who were in the middle of developing Sonic Synergy with their own lore, characters, and world, and who already had enough developed to create an internal trailer for higher-ups and investors and SEGA goes in and is like "Hey all this Lyric and Ancients and time travel stuff is real neat but we're gonna need you to overhaul the FUCK out of it and make it like THIS instead aight have fun assholes were gonna go blow our Yakuza money on some other stupid shit." [paraphrasing]

This overhaul and combination then lead into another new idea- that Sonic BOOM should be an entire separate sub-franchise of Sonic the Hedgehog, complete with toys and comic books and all the other merch that comes along with a plan like this. So, Sonic Synergy was renamed to Sonic BOOM Rise of Lyric, and BRB took what they already had and crammed OuiDo!'s tone into it while also removing their own lore from the game.

You may have noticed that despite sharing a name, there's VERY little crossover between Sonic BOOM Rise of Lyric, and Sonic BOOM the TV series. Most of the characters are in both, but Lyric is only in RoL and Eggman's island fortress is only in the TV series. It's very obvious in hindsight that the game and the TV series were two separate things that were mashed together during development of both.

Now, sometime during the development of Sonic BOOM, SEGA signed another deal, this time with Nintendo. This was an exclusivity deal, an agreement to make the next three Sonic games exclusive to the Nintendo platforms of the time, the Wii U and 3DS. The first of these was Sonic Lost World, and the second was Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. But it seems SEGA didn't even have a third game planned, because instead of working on something specifically for Wii U, they went BACK to Big Red Button and were like "Yo I see you got this running on Xbox One or some shit Imma need you to put it on the Game and Wario machine instead lmao have fun" [paraphrasing]

So, working with Nintendo to quickly port Rise of Lyric onto a console it wasn't designed for, running on a modified version of CryEngine, which the Wii U wasn't natively compatible with, Big Red Button got Sonic BOOM Rise of Lyric out the door and promptly exited console video game development. Visiting their site now, you can see that they went into VR games.

The DISASTROUS financial performance of Rise of Lyric- a half finished game retrofitted with another team's vision and then forced onto hardware that shouldn't have been able to even boot it- severely damaged the Sonic BOOM franchise's reputation right out the gate, which in turn hampered TV ratings, and since no one was watching the TV series, no one was buying the merch. And to add on top of that, Cartoon Network, the channel airing Sonic BOOM in the US, has always judged a series' "success" on merch sales. So since no one was buying "Here comes the BOOM" t-shirts or Sonic BOOM birthday party paper plates, CN shifted BOOM around to different, weird time slots until finally offloading it onto their sister channel, Boomerang, where it died after two seasons. Everything went wrong because of SEGA's short-sightedness and their willingness to fuck over the game development team they were working with. This was a MASSIVE, multi-faceted plan with dozens of projects holding up other projects, and it was an unabashed financial failure.

Needless to say, this cost SEGA Sammy Holdings as a whole likely BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Because Sonic had lost them so much money, there was very little money to invest back into Sonic. This lead to the Sonic drought, as it's been called by the community, where for years, no new major Sonic stuff released. We had a few mobile games and some limited physical releases of the Sonic BOOM TV series and that was about it. Sonic as a whole was just coasting on what was already made for BOOM, and trying to recoup their losses by any means necessary. The 3DS game, Sonic BOOM Shattered Crystal, seemed to sell decently, because it DID get a sequel in Sonic BOOM Fire and Ice, which DID tie in directly with characters and storylines from the TV series, but at that point, it was already far too late.

Embarrassed, financially hurting, and in need of a safe win, SEGA went back to SonicTeam, and had them start work on updating the Hedgehog Engine used in Unleashed and Generations, and start work on Sonic Forces- and that's why Forces sucks. It was a safe-bet "PLEASE make us money" project that tried to appeal to everyone and inevitably wound up as a massive disappointment to everyone, because only SEGA knew what Forces really was meant to be. Sonic Mania was made for the same reason, it was a "oh God we have no cash, hire the cheap fans-turned-developers to make a nostalgia bait 2D pixel Sonic game" situation. Since Mania promised so much less and delivered on those promises though, it was VERY well-received. These two "life raft" projects together started to get SEGA and Sonic out of their financial pit, which in turn, gave them the leverage to bounce between a few different American movie studios to try to shop around the Sonic movie as a pitch, and to begin development on Sonic's first open world game, Sonic Frontiers.

In interviews, Frontiers is cited as being a "last chance" for SonicTeam during development. While this may sound harsh, it may have been that SEGA just didn't have faith in the franchise as a whole anymore, so the movie and Frontiers were to be potentially the final Sonic projects.

But I don't need to tell you how wrong SEGA was about this :D

Some upcoming story ideas (very rough)

1. Janitor and retired Navy! Slider x Misfit highschooler! Maverick where he bonds with the cool janitor in the 80s. I’m thinking this’s gonna be more of a friendship story where Slider is a good mentor while Mav is just Mr. smol misfit bean

2. Disabled Slider arch in which Slider gets injured during his deployment post-TG and acquires PTSD and Deafness from the head injury. This is going to be a long series with tons of Slimav slow burn and angst and disability history, which is somewhat of my specialty. I just wanted to include the elements of disability pride in the OG story, aight? Also!! I’d like to include a crossover with Lieutenant Dan from Forrest Gump because…solidarity!

3. Forensic artist! Slider x FBI agent! Mav because the idea of Slider being an artsy bro is a gem. Also forensic art!!!! (Setting in the 90s so Slider’s gonna be the hip n cool sketch artist (who uses lots of expressive colors like Kelly Lawson does) who’s seeing opportunities in digital photo rendering and 3D modeling)

4. Ex-boyfriend’s Slice w/ Slimav, told in Ice’s POV. While writing Just What I Needed, I stumbled upon My Best Friend’s Girlfriend by The Cars and immediately thought of himbo Slider being all hot n girlypop with Mav while Ice is like yeah he used to be mine, Mav, he’s so hot isn’t he. Possessive Ice is just what we lack here I guess

5. Aromantic gay! Slider self-indulgent story. I’m on the aromantic spectrum and I want to represent my orientation in a somewhat comedic, warm manner featuring Sli’s journey of self-discovery, friendship and some light-hearted sexual tension between Sli and Mav.

I remember mentioning in my instagram when posting for valentine's that i would be back when side order drops, i mostly meant it as kind of a joke since i had some drawing to post. i did not expect that to actually become true lol.

It felt kinda nice drawing some splatoon stuff again, last time was in like december, wich were just doodles, and technically yesterday but that was me making a kirby x splatoon crossover so it doesnt count, so actually last time i did an actual finished drawing for splatoon was the fuzzy neo in november.

Im really hyped up for this, i have played basically just one roguelike in my life (candies n' curses, its fun you should play it too) so i dont have much experience in the genere, but its okay! tho having to restart from floor 1 makes me a bit nervous, wich is funny cuz in candies and curses i also had to restart from floor one yet i kept trying so im not really sure why im worrying, tho it did take me months just to finish the main story in that game, and i want to experience the entierity of side order as blind as i can, maybe thats why. but i managed to avoid magolor epilogue spoilers for a year this might not be that bad.

LOL HAVE YOU MET ME? I have something of a reputation... But if I had to pick, I'd say Number Ten and I'll Be Seeing You rank as my top angstiest endings for A & B Bridgerton respectively.

Hmmm. Young At Heart was for sure the fluffiest thing I've ever written. But I have a soft spot for the tooth-rotting sweetness of Two Lines and A Special Day.

Fortunately no. I haven't encountered any negativity for my fics yet. The Bridgerton fan community has been lovely.

I do, but I don't feel that it's my strong suit. It started just for Benophie but I have branched into x Reader. I don't think I'm great at it. I prefer to write whump and angst.

No, no real crossovers. I enjoy AUs that dip into vampire/zombie/apocalypse territory though. My friend suggested I combine my fixations and have the Bridgertons discover a portal to Middle Earth in their hedgerow 😅 Let the madness begin...

WOOF. I have 17 WIPs. I'd say the most at risk is a concept for Anthony on each of his siblings' wedding days. I have to read all the Bridgerton novels to finish this one, and that's a tall ask.

I think I'm aight at conveying emotion. Feels are kinda my game - good and bad.

Writing TOO much about feelings 😜 I skew verbose and can get wordy as fuck because I'm trying so hard to paint a very precise picture. I always have to remind myself to reel it in so readers aren't bogged down.

I have sprinkled some French for Benophie and Tamil for Kanthony into my stories. Just little phrases that I always research thoroughly.

First ever? X-Men 😋 I was 12. The first film came out. I was a goner for Wolverine...

Guh, they are all like children to me. But my heart is drawn to my multichapter character stories. Let Me Be Your Anchor is the first Bridgerton fic I started writing and the only one I ever intended to. It's novel length and will be my greatest accomplishment. A Brother's Love was the first fic I actually finished and has the most soul in it IMO. Then I see Willow Bark as my most clever 'fix it' story - if the show could adopt my ideas on that one I think we'd all win 😉

barges in as a fellow Transformers fan after liking half your content Aight, just hear me out. EE OC crossover AU where the Ashling family are Cybertronians. (If you have any questions as to how they reproduce w/o the use of the Wells as per usual, we can just go with them using budding, but communally as so to avoid their offspring getting less sapient as the generations go on. Or we can figure something out later, lol) Moving on, the Ashlings were among the last to leave Cybertron as the Great War was breaking out. Getting aboard one of the last 4 Ark-class cruisers (which also have aliens from Iacon's Xeno-Quarter (Space in, well, Iacon for organic immigrants to live in, as most of Cybertron isn't suited for them)), they were headed for Aquatron to wait out the Great War At least, that was the plan. Unfortunately, some tampering via Decepticon saboteurs malfunctions from hastily retrofitted technology (the Arks having been mothballed for a long while) screwed up the coordinates & sent them to the EE world's solar system, a couple decades before Canon. They've got the supplies to set up camp, but not their FTL has been damaged & they can't fix those w/o getting help from Earth. The one coordinating the evacuation in the first place, Dai Atlas (renowned war hero & all-round good guy, but dealing with PTSD from it all & has strong personal convictions) is, along with the Autobots who were tasked with seeing these refugees to safety, has struck deals of sharing non-military technology in exchange for resources to fix the ships. Cue Canon going completely off the rails, Sylvie & Sabrina make new squishy friends, all while the shadow of the Autobot-Decepticon War loom over everyone's heads. (Made this at 11 p.m. , so sorry if it's of bad quality.)

What about a Witch's House and Black Butler crossover lol

So like What if Ciel and Alois (he's totally breathing lol whaaat?) Get a letter from the queen or something and have to investigate this town by these woods. The town claims there's an evil witch in the woods but no one will talk about it because curses and stuff. While Alois and Ciel are in the town (for story purposes, Alois made a bet against Ciel that they could get the job done without the butlers and Ciel begrudgingly agreed so the two butlers would only appear if the two were in actual danger), they hear a girl yell at her father and see her run into the woods.

The girl is Viola obviously and she thinks the witch is good because Viola has visited her a few times. Viola claims the witch is just a sick child and even takes Ciel and Alois with her to visit the witch.

If any of you know how the Witch's House goes then woohoo, you'll see the twists and turns coming from a mile away.

But if you don't know it then hehehe

Like, we got MHA and the chaos surrounding it’s world where you can be born with either the power of god or a lego head, or just not have a power at all and be part of the minority that gets their shit destroyed on a daily basis to fight the crazy bitches with powers.

And then we have HxH which has nen and can allow you to lean how do to all sorts of freaky shit like kill a fucking alien cat with a game of Rock Paper Scissors, magical beasts, confirmed countries, regions, creatures, ruins, AND treasure that are confirmed to be out there because the world hasn’t been fully explored, AND the anime equivalent of the 2020 election.

The world would be fucked.

Izuku would be teaching Gon to risk his fucking limbs

Killua and Bakugo enter a room and only Killua leaves (you can not convince me that Killua would NOT fold Bakugo like a beach chair)

And then we got the MHA girls meeting the HxH girls and everyone is comparing them and are like “Hmm….something is different about them…but what?” (The answer is that HxH can actually write decent female characters 💀).

Boss bitches Bisky and Machi meet Uraraka and start talking and Uraraka says “I’m gonna be a hero to get money for my parents!” And they’re like “aight, sounds cool”

But then Uraraka’s flashbacks and motivation only shows Izuku and suddenly Beefy Bisky has to make an entrance to knock some sense into the girl because that was NOT what she said her motivation was.

FUCK IMAGINE A ALLIANCE BETWEEN THE LOV AND CHIMERA ANTS THE WORLD WOULD BE FUCKED DEPENDING ON WHICH ARC WE’RE TALKING ABOUT IN REGARDS TO THE LOV-

okay so I still haven't really delved into Mass Effect ( sorryyyy ;; ) so I approached this from the concept of who could easily crossover into this universe:

RYOKO HAKUBI : literally a space pirate, this alien-hybrid humanoid canonically just sort of goes where she pleases and does as she wishes. I'm sure she could get up to some trouble in the ME sphere.

ROGUE : honestly, dealing with a space opera is the least of the bs she's been through.

ASHIOK : they go throughout the planes looking for people with powerful fears to prey upon -- especially those who work through or feign not having any fears. I think that would mean Ashley is a shining beacon for them.

B yells about in-progress MAP parts, the first one!!!

Aight, let's give this a shot, yeah? Got no idea what I'm doing but I'd like to try.

Well over a year ago now, I yoinked the last open part in this Na Na Na Wings of Fire x Fandom Crossover MAP:

Due to the DMC brainrot at the time that's the fandom I ended up choosing, and I picked the most iconic scene to portray: the Temen-Ni-Gru fight from DMC3. Swordfight translated into an aerial battle? heck yeah that seems cool

Back when the Discord server for the project was still active, I made my designs for Dante and Vergil. These'll still largely hold up for the part now, though the style will be different - it'll be more closely aligned with my Ten Plagues parts since that's the style I use for Wings of Fart now.

I designed them this way for one practical reason and many subtle meta reasons:

They're twins, so I needed a neutral color palette that'd work for both of them and wouldn't clash with their outfits

Went with Ice/Night for grayscale, but also because IceWings and NightWings are typically acknowledged as rivals

Also because IceWings and NightWings are incredibly opinionated on which tribe is 'right' and which is deplorable - very similar to how these two approach the human/demon dichotomy

I also have an unwritten rule to make most dragon designs go from a darker color to a lighter one in a vertical gradient, which I intentionally turned on its head here both to match more with how the siblings go in a similar light/dark gradient.

Back in the day I used to design a lot of hybrids with mixed scale types (shoutout to when Eclipse had half SandWing scales and half NightWing scales, or two rows of sharp scales and one row of round ones) before I realised that's not really consistent with how I assume their biology would work, but this is Wings of Fart and I don't really care for the accuracy of Wings of Fart anymore so we have blended scale styles - if anything, for one last hurrah before I never design anything like this ever again.

aight that's enough about the designs how bouts we get into actual work on the part yeah?

This was the only thing I got done before letting this part languish in my To Do list for over a year. It's the very last shot of the part, designed to showcase just one more aspect of these characters in this crossover: Dante uses fire breathing and Vergil uses frostbreath. I intend to have a more elaborate transition into the close up speen, I just didn't draw it out yet. I sat down for one session and scrawled this out, probably because the idea presented itself vividly in my head and I had to get it down asap. TVPaint, 24fps.

Fast forward a literal year of radio silence and now the MAP server is starting to see sparks of life again, and lil' ol' me is finally undergoing my MCR phase many, many years too late, so that means it's time to pick up this part again.

Had a brainwave the other night and came up with the remaining shots in the part, but it'd only be doable if I could somehow get a 3D reference of the Temen-Ni-Gru because there ain't no way I'm trying a complex rotating 2.5D thing again without a reference.

Thankfully DMC5 has tons of mods. With REFramework and this Bloody Palace mod, I can now freely fly around the silly demon tower and snatch all the reference footage I need. Took a few tries, and it's not the best, but we now got this:

My brain breaks down this rotating tower shot into two parts; the first part consists of four still assets, for parallaxing, and the second part has roughly 3-5 new unique assets, mas o menos depending on, once again, parallaxing. The dragons will be standing equidistant from each other in this shot and the camera will settle on a close-medium shot of one of them, so they'll require extra assets for the second part once I've solidified how I want the shot to continue. With the experience I have from my failed Jojo Reanimated part I acknowledge it would probably be hell to animate those background assets in VEGAS, so I'll be crafting them with Moho's superior camera functions in mind.

So far I've doodled out one additional concept so far - see the skeleton statue in the above video's freeze frame? Can't have that being a human in a dragon-centric universe, so here's an idea for a dragon skeleton demon sculpture thing:

That's just about where I am at time of writing - I wouldn't expect future posts to be nearly as wordy, this one's just different because I had a year's worth of time to recount like two to three days of work to rant about.

The Redwall Retrospective

Basically I'm rereading the series at roughly 1 book a week, and vlogging it on my mostly-dormant YouTube channel. I'll do a Jenny Nicholson style multi-hour video at the end. Currently working on Mariel of Redwall. Will get a link up to the logs for the first three books.

Red Fraction

My take on the "Pyrrha Lives" (Stomp Stomp) style of fix-it-fic. Got some fun ideas for it. Basically got Pyrrha's consciousness split into pieces across several characters, with the ultimate goal being recombining them all. RWBY Modern AU (No solid name as of yet)

Man I love AUs, AUs are cool. And I've got some fun ideas for this one. Ruby and Jaune married for tax reasons? Got it. Coco Adel, the wholesome Yuri manga addict? Check. Gauntlets and Greaves? Hell yes, I read some baller GnG fics last year and I've been hooked ever since. There's other stuff too, but I've had trouble figuring out a main plotline, which is why I have...

Old Masters

This is a side story (or perhaps pre-sequel?) for my Modern AU, and one that has a defined plot line. The last generation's megahit pop duo was "Young Masters", made up of Ozma "Ozzy" Calavera and (The Pseudonymous) "Salem". The two had a fairly consistent will-they, won't-they subplot in their music and stage performances, until it came out pretty publicly that "they did", and the act (and relationship) broke up in a rather messy fashion.

Now some (insert number) years later, Salem has a grown up daughter, Oz is still trying to get his solo career off the ground, and neither of them are really happy. They meet by chance, and eventually (though with much pain) reconcile. Don't know all the details yet, but leaning towards a secret romance between Oscar (Ozma's Nephew) and Salem's daughter (either Emerald or Ciel, undecided) being part of it.

To aru Isekai no Tabibito (A certain otherworldly traveller)

It struck me one day that Semblances are rather close to ESPer abilities when it gets down to it. Thus, a RWBY x Toaruverse crossover feels pretty natural, at least to me. My thought: RWBY (and probably JNPR) find themselves dropped into Academy City with minimal equipment and have to figure out their way around.

The Bard for Advanced Systems

Don't know how big Advanced (as in 1st edition) Dungeons and Dragons is on Tumblr, but I take a great deal of issue with 1e's handling of the Bard. I can expand on why in another post if anybody's interested. TBFAS would be an essay and class write up of my idealized Bard Class, probably looking most similar to the 1e Monk in design style. I've got some ideas, I just need to set them in motion.

RWBY x Pokemon Special

More "nifty idea" than anything else. Pokemon Adventures was my first Manga, and I'd like to cross it over with RWBY at some point, probably by dropping RWBY characters in as trainers/Dex Holders. Could even do a full swap, but I'm less sure on that point.

As you may have gathered from the above, I have a penchant for RWBY fanfiction. This is because it is a world I have grown comfortable in, and the fandom I first explored fanfiction within. I haven't actually seen Volume 8, and am not planning to watch volume 9, and really I think things have been going downhill somewhat since... Well actually the show was always a bit of a mess if I'm being honest.

That all said, the world is great, and the characters, as interpreted by FNDM, are also pretty great, and rife with opportunities for cool storytelling.

What's that? Surely I'm forgetting something? Are half a dozen projects I want to work on not enough?

Okay fine, I've got some original works as well, but waffles are just about ready so I'll share those in another post.

aight so uhh lil spontaneous positive rant about OFF rpg bc it’s 1AM and I’m having feelings

bro OFF has that magic that makes me fall for it all over again even if I have,, rewatched it gazillion of times. I religiously rewatch it every year (hush it’s my comfort game), yet it never fails to amaze me and punch me in the gut. Reading theories and fan interpretations of the story and the characters is always fun to read, they’re all absolutely valid and mind-blowing every time.

And every time I take a lil check back in the fandom, I find there’s ppl who still make animations abt it, who makes song remixes with other vgm (undertale x off ost is such a king-to-king crossover), and I learn new stuff like Papyrus was inspired by Dedan’s design? Batter is apparently a beast in battles when in Auto and the Player is probs just holding him back bc he lets you control him? the Bad Batter was confirmed ace?? Batterie is possible in “an alternate universe” confirmed like BRO??? (so does that mean Batterie in fanfics is canon and is validated by the creator bc fanfics are technically kinda like AUs if we treat the game as the canon verse and fanfics as alternate universe -)

Anyways, one thing that blew my small little child brain when I was younger and I just first discovered OFF was the idea of an “unreliable narrator.” I felt so betrayed then, and tbh rewatching it yearly, it still blows my freaking mind. Bad Batter reveal was PERFECT, and it wasn’t some random twist in the end, it was a long build up and the game was dropping hints - it gives the Player ample time to think for themselves. When you return to the purified zones, that’s when the Batter’s motives become questionable, but you still put faith in him bc while purification of the zones seems like a shady mission, he isn’t wrong about eradicating spectres (who ARE hostile) and the Guardians aren’t good either so whatever the Batter is doing still seems like the right decision. The game makes you think it’s a black-and-white “hero vs. villains” when really, everyone is in the grey area, and it becomes especially clear that it is when we found out about the whole Hugo situation. It’s like, every character, including the Guardians, had good intentions at some points but they’re also flawed, and I think the flawed characterization is so beautiful because it made the characters complex and it makes you understand why they’re acting this way or how did they become this way. Tbh there’s so so much to say about each character and their symbolisms but i dont have the brain capacity for deep thinking and analysis like other OFF fans (bless yall btw)

And bro,, the art? the music? Straight up FIRE. The spectre designs are so cool I based off my whole personality off of it at some point when I was younger. But no joke, I was super influenced by Mortis’ artstyle. My love for sketchy pencil art style and concept art; my preference of colorless drawings; my fascination for surreal/body horror, foreshortening and perspective all started with my little caveman brain discovering OFF. I straight up saw OFF art and said “wow. I wanna do something like that.” And lord, the music - someone hold me back. It just as influential to my music taste as the art did to my art style. I never really stopped listening to the soundtrack throughout the years, even if I never check back in the fandom, I still listen to it. My appreciation for percussion went really high after hearing the OFF ost. My habit of checking out video game ost after seeing a game also started with OFF ost, bc what if I miss out another bomb soundtrack like OFF, right? Pepper Steak was my first exposure to Electro Swing, and man I’m so glad bc now Electro Swing is one of my fav genres. Brain Plague ost is very brain (heh) stimulating, it’s literally addicting to listen to?? And the music also did very well in complementing the areas of the game, it added a whole new atmosphere and god don’t you just love it when music does that little magic. The game’s aesthetic is solid and coherent in both the art and music, like what a teamwork! I defo want to do something like that if I create my own game (possibly, I hope my future allows it)

Tbh there’s so much more I can say about this game, but I’m not very good at constructing a professional and coherent analysis or whatever. And this is all first draft so

TL;DR : OFF is very iconic and definitely one of the best rpg games ever bestowed upon Earth, and I love it forever no joke Im having feelings for it again
