Let's talk about Caelum.

I'm gonna preface this with saying that everyone is entitled to their opinions, and if once you're done reading this you decide you don't want to follow me or you want to block me, that's completely up to you. I'm not trying to change your opinion or attack anyone who has a different one than mine, I just wanted to put my two cents out there.

I also wanted to say that whatever your opinion on the matter is, it's yours and yours alone, and you should respect the opinions of other people even if they don't match up. I personally do not sexualize Caelum, but I do think he is an adult with childlike characteristics, and those two statements are not mutually exclusive. He can be an adult, but he also doesnt have to be put in adult situations.

It's okay to have strong feelings one way or the other about this topic, but it is not okay to harass people or go on a witch hunt for those with the opposite opinion to give them shit about what they think. If you disagree with someone and do not want to see their stuff on your timeline, just block them or scroll away. You alone are responsible for your own dash, you cannot make other people responsible for what you see on your timeline.

All that being said, I do not like how the fandom treats Caelum and Empathy Daemons in general.

My stance on the matter is that Empathy Daemons as a whole are adults, but because of how E'Laetum created them, they tend to have childlike characteristics. Those who say that Empathy Daemons are ALL children blatantly ignore the fact that Regulus is an Empathy Daemon as well, and that he has been shown to have adult tendancies (his BA, getting possessive over his charge, etc) while also maintaining his childlike characteristics (telling his charge a bedtime story to sleep, having a very one dimensional view of himself and his charge, etc). This is where I have a problem whenever I see people try to say that all Empathy Daemons are children. Regulus is clearly an adult. There is no "reading between the lines" about this.

Caelum is also an Empathy Daemon, but he is a very different character than Regulus. He is a lot more childlike compared to Regulus. He gets his words mixed up, he likes sweets, he likes hugs, etc. But in his most recent video (Your Bakadere Empathy Daemon Friend Visits You), even he says that he almost went down a path similar to Regulus' until Delphinus stepped in and assigned him to Freelancer, and that stopped him from falling (timestamps from 2:40 - 3:18, and 8:45 in that video). It may be uncomfortable for some people to think of Caelum as going down the same path that Regulus did, but this video clearly shows that he had the potential to. Caelum and Regulus are not as different as one may think.

Erik has also said himself that D(a)emons step out of the Elision Well as adults and they do not age. Of course they don't know everything so they still have to learn, but that's not the same as being a child. On top of the most recent Redacted 101 video, take this screenshot from Wonderworld (previously Redacted Records, when Erik was still in the server) from 2020, where Erik talks about how D(a)emons coalesce.

He even mentions how in earlier Caelum videos he didn't know what he wanted the d(a)emon life cycle to be yet, and that's why he had Caelum state that he was a "kid daemon" at one point.

Not to mention the fact that in the official timeline, it shows that Caelum coalesced in 1999, and is even older than Damien.

At the end of the day, Caelum is a fictional character. Whatever someone ends up deciding to make of him is their choice, this is a fandom after all. If it really bothers you to see what certain people make, block them and move on. DO NOT berate them for their headcanons or fanart or whatever else. People are allowed to have their own headcanons, make their own fics, and draw their own fanart. This is a fandom space, and people are allowed their creative liberties.

Anyways, that has been my two cents. Feel free to voice your opinions in the comments if u want to, but please please be respectful and don't attack anyone.

TLDR; I don't sexualize Caelum but I do think he and all Empathy Daemons are adults (ex: Regulus), everyone should respect everyone else's opinions and just block what they don't want to see on their timelines, and the fandom needs to chill out lol

With how incredibly cruel people can be in fandoms nowadays, I can understand the lack of interaction on tumblr.

I know it's well meaning, but I have a feeling folks who say "people who boop can also interact directly with blogs!" have never been sent hate mail, or received nasty comments, or been put on a list that gets passed around because they ship/write/draw the "wrong" thing.

SO yeah. The lack of interaction isn't what's killing fandoms. It's the people who go out of their way to harass other fans that leads to less interaction that kills fandoms.

And it's not really fair to expect people to interact in a hostile environment.

The thing is, WBY knew that Ruby isn't okay, they just didn't know to what extend and that wasn't their fault.

Like I mentioned before, they've been trying to talk to her, I could make a compilation of all the times Yang asked "are you alright?" only to get interrupted before she could even finish the question. Something always came up, or Ruby herself would avoid the question.

Then why did Ruby complain about not having the time to address her feelings? Wouldn't that be kind of incoherent, or hypocrital? Not really.

Did you ever feel so bad that you thought your internal pain was obvious? Yet you refused to talk about it? But still wanted someone to approach it, to see you withouth you having to say a word? That's what Ruby's been feeling.

It's natural for us to want to be seen when we suffer, and being comforted, or helped, but finding the words to ask for it can sometimes be so hard.

The more is the pain we feel, the more it gets harder to speak about it, and the more we think it must be obvious to be seen. So, the worse we feel when no one addresses it.

Obviously, an adjusted adult should know that we can't expect others to read our minds and we need to speak out if something is wrong, but Ruby is 17, she didn't learn how to deal with this stuff yet. And that's not even mentioning that they put the crushing weight of the world on her shoulders!

Ruby has been unable not only to ask for this kind of attention, but also unable to accept it when the others tried to give it to her. Making the others unaware of how bad it actually is and then lash out about it is the inevitable consequence, especially considering the situation they're in.

Why did they so easily address Jaune then? Because he was obvious, and loud, which he has always been (and it does makes sense, having so many sisters it's likely that he had to be loud to be noticed).

Our brains are programmed to address the most imminent and possibly dangerous situations first, it's a leftover of the first humans fighting to survive, so it's litterally natural that Jaune's screams and loud despair stole the attention from Ruby quietly avoiding Crescent Rose.

The point is that there's no one actively in the wrong here. It's just a messy and traumatic situation for everyone involved, who dealing with it better and who dealing with it worse. So, it's no one's fault if someone reaches their limit, or someone else is distracted by their own shit to notice.

There's no side to be picked, only people who are dealing with everything the best way they can.

The love of it all the the tension ramping up and breaking, the fear, the soul-crushing grief, seeing the kids again, being yanked away from them, half of them making it and the other half not, losing two of my favorite characters in such quick succession, I am absolutely relishing it

Aight I’m seeing a lot of class based headcanons in destiny that leave Warlocks as book nerds, hunters as the weird fun ones, and titans as stupid.  So let me lay it out because these classes are so much more than that.  These are though, at the end of the day, just my own headcanons.  This is not organized in any real way, just whatever I can think of.  Going for more detail of each headcanon than a lot of smaller headcanons.

Titans:  

-NOT STUPID, like jesus christ everyone calls them crayon eaters and dumb as shit but that’s so not true!  Titans may not have the same type of intelligence as warlocks but they’re equally as smart.  They’re master tacticians with a lot of charisma.  Look at the titans in the tower, Saint-14, Zavala, and Shaxx.  Shaxx’s risky plan at the twilight gap might have saved humanity from a massive disaster.  He’s loud, yes, but if you listen to him outside of the Crucible, he’s incredibly wise with a lot of lessons to teach the guardians.  Zavala is the commander of all the Vanguards forces, he has saved the city (or at least commanded the forces who save the city) more times than anyone can count, he’s a bit of a stick in the mud but when you’re the leader of the military protecting the last of humanity, you kind of have to be a stick in the mud.  But you don’t keep that kind of position by being an idiot.  And Saint-14, who dives into a surprisingly deep about of philosophy about what it means to be good, a hero.  He’s goofy, sure, but so is shaxx at times.  My point is, Titans are incredibly smart, but it’s not the same booksmart that everyone sees in the Warlocks.

-Their apartments are probably full of gifts from people they’ve saved.  No matter how small, the lives they protect define them as titans, from great banners that city elders have given them in thanks to little coins or toys that the children give.  Their apartment is a reminder of who they are, what they stand for.  Though don’t get me wrong, they do love their classic movies, weapon collections, 53 copies of The Art of War in every room, and my god you cannot forget the extra supplies for if they have guests.  Guardians are probably plagued with nightmares, so it’s not uncommon to find the nearest Titan’s apartment to stop by for comfort food and a burly shoulder to rest your head on.

-Titans probably love to go for walks through the city.  What’s the point of protecting everyone if you don’t remind yourself why you’re doing it?  To see the smiles on the children’s faces, the laughter in the streets, the loud music of parties, everything about the city is a reminder of what’s worth fighting for.  Even if it’s a hopeless fight, even if the city will fall one day, be it tomorrow or a thousand years from now.  Giving these people a chance to laugh, to scream, to cry, to feel, to LIVE, that’s why a Titan’s job is so important.  This isn’t exclusive to titans of course, I think every class has these walks through the city (maybe not hunters as much), but I think it resonates with titans the most.  Oh don’t forget the fact that there is a not 0% chance of a titan walking into the random birthday party you’re celebrating to join the fun.  Might be awkward at first, but NO ONE lightens a party like a titan.  Even if it’s a party for kids, they’ll play hide and go seek, tag, whatever just to have a good time with people.

-I think a Titan’s ship is clean and efficient.  And big, probably.  They are as much a weapon and tool as anything else in a Titan’s arsenal.  It’s sharpened like a blade, polished like armor, and respected like a fireteam member.  Their ship takes them where ever they need to go and it’s treated with that kind of respect.  They may even adorn the outside of the ship to make it look more fancy.  I’d say a titan treats their ship like a garage queen, old, maybe even battered in the past, but it’s kept in tip top shape.  And they will name it and talk to it while they fly.  Classic, “That’s my girl!” type of behavior.

Hunters:

-Hmm, I think the biggest misconception is that hunters are either always brooding or always silly.  Even looking at Cayde-6, the definition of a silly goofy hunter had moments of seriousness.  I’m pretty sure Ikora has talked about having meaningful conversations with him.  And you can see very clearly after his ghost dies that he has this more, serious aspect of him.  Sure it could have just been the fact he knew he was about to die but, I’d like to think we got a glimpse at the real Cayde.  And I think most hunters are like that as well.  And I think it’s because they’re so isolated most of the time.  Hunters can go days, weeks, months without seeing any friends life.  Without talking to anyone.  They spend most of their time in silence, stalking, scouting, or just exploring.  So I think when they are around other guardians, they take up this goofy personality because well, they want to make the most of their time with friends.  It’s no use being the same isolationist they’re used to, they’re not going to be able to enjoy other people’s company for long, so might as well make the most of it.  And as for the brooding ones (besides just being the hunter playbase being a little more edgy), I think those hunters are scared to get close to people.  With how little they see anyone, it’s best to not make connections.  To stay on the outskirts of society, only coming to the tower to drop off intel or grab supplies.  Either way, I do think hunters have a much more deep emotional side to them.  Just instead of relying on emotional relationships, they connect with the world around them.  They hear the trees whisper on the wind, see the clouds dance in the sky, feel the ground beneath them tell stories with each step.  They don’t need relationships as much as they other classes because they’re at home anywhere, making friends with every tale the world has to tell.

-On a less serious note, I think I agree with another apartment headcannon on hunters.  They are empty.  Barren.  No decorations, no supplies, nothing.  Practically looks like no one lives there.  Because hunters canonically never visit the tower unless they absolutely have to.  And besides, if a hunter needs a base, they have plenty hidden in trees and caves all around the solar system.  Some dusty old apartment is nothing compared to a mfing TREE HOUSE

-I think hunters want to leave the solar system more than anyone else, with warlocks in a close second.  The speaker talked about how during the golden age, humans believed it was their destiny to travel among the stars.  To see what the galaxy, or even universe has to offer.  And I think hunters still agree with that.  They look up at the sky to see the thousands of stars, knowing that’s only in our galaxy.  And are left staring for hours thinking about what is out there, what is to be seen, to be explored.  What can sol not show us that the infinite stars in the sky could.  

-Hunters are amazing artists.  I mean when you’re left on your own out in the wilds for years, you gotta have some hobby to keep you.  And drawing is perfect, you can do it anywhere, on anything, of anything.  And with how many beautiful sights they see, they sure as hell have a lot of inspiration.  There are hunters who will set up a whole ass camp just to paint a single river.  And on the flip side there are hunters who will draw their friends faces into the bark of trees with a knife, just to make sure they don’t forget what they look like.  It’s rare to come across one of these art pieces, but they’re always left undisturbed.  They are made of the wilds and deserver to be left in the wilds.

-Hunter ships are a mess.  Mainly because it’s their most permanent living space.  It’s got food wrappers, drawings, intel storage... things, little collectables, a comfy bed, it’s a home more than any other ship.  And while they don’t treat it with the physical respect that Titans do, they talk to their ships all the same.  A lot of Hunter ships will end up looking like Junkers though, not because they don’t take good care of them, in fact they put a lot of effort into making sure their ship works perfectly, but they care about the ship working, not looking nice.  So if they find some golden age tech that they can slap into their ship to make it work better, hell yeah that bitch is getting upgraded.  So in the end it just looks like an amalgamation of spare parts and rattling metal.  But it’ll fly faster, straighter, and more reliably than any other ship in the solar system.

And finally, Warlocks:

-I think hands down easily the biggest Warlock misconception is that all they do is read all day.  HELL NO, Warlocks will give hunters a run for their money when it comes to exploring a new planet.  I mean come on, you can’t expect a class to be obsessed with knowledge and learning without fucking B lining it for every new planet in the hopes of discovering what new knowledge there is to be found.  Hunters explore for the sake of exploring, and to an extent Warlocks do too, but Warlocks are MUCH more interested in uncovering the mysteries of old.  It’s not uncommon for Hunters to run into a Warlock who’s gotten to some golden age facility first.  The difference in that Warlocks will go back to the tower very frequently to drop off whatever they think they’ll need.  Which, spoilers, is a lot.  They’ll pick up a rusty wrench because it has slightly less rust than the last one they found.  They have hundreds of hand written books and intel logs detailing everything they find.  They thrive off of information gathering, because there’s no better way to learn than to be out in the field experiencing it first hand.

-Warlock apartments?  Come on, they’re an absolute mess.  Towers of books that they’ve written or found detailing lifetimes worth of knowledge.  Artifacts from all over, each having some kind of significance to the Warlock.  Whiteboards with theories about the origins of, whatever they fuck they’re talking about this week.  Trash and dishes everywhere because who has time to clean when you could be LEARNING.  BUT, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT, They always have a room dedicated to nothing but themselves.  Every Warlock knows that Ikora recommends Warlocks to slow down  when possible.  She always talks about introspection and reflection.  Talking about how we can’t forget about what makes us who we are.  To find something to laugh about, to cry about, to love or to hate.  Something to make us feel.  And most Warlocks will take that to heart.  Dedicating a small room of their apartment that is free of the mess for meditation or a personal hobby.  Some Warlocks enjoy writing in their free time, not about the information they’ve gathered, but fiction of a world with strife, or a world where guardians never existed.  Some enjoy knitting, maybe even being taught by Zavala if they’re lucky.  Point is, this room is for them.  But that doesn’t mean other guardians cannot enter it.  In fact, if you go over to a Warlocks apartment, expect to hang out in their personal room.  I mean, socialization is a destresser, a way to reconnect with eachother, and what better room to do that in?

-Warlocks love to ramble.  A lot.  Like a few days straight a lot.  I mean how can they have so much information without anyone to share it with?  Yeah sure, the Vanguard will take it on a professional level, but it’s not the same as sitting someone down and explaining all the specifics.  The theories that official reports don’t allow, the passion of saying it directly to someone, the joy of seeing the other person genuinely listen.  They crave being able to ramble to someone, and while other warlocks will love to listen and wait for their turn to share, guardians are busy folks.  So there are a few Warlock Cafe style resturants in the city, where any warlock is welcome to come in, sit down with a human who wants to learn about the outside world, and just ramble at them.  Humans love it because, well, you don’t learn a lot about the outside world when you’re trapped in a city, and warlocks love it because no matter how seemingly small the details are, the humans eat it up with more enthusiasm than any guardian could have.  And of course there’s food and drink, and on the more busy days warlocks are limited to how long they can go on for, there’s only so many of these cafes after all.  And humans are welcome to stop the Warlock and leave at any time.  This is not seen as rude because Guardians seem to not need to sleep and eat as much as humans do, and without knowing better, a Warlock could easily outlast a human when it comes to not eating or sleeping.  But still, it’s a fun activity for both Warlocks and Humans to participate in.  (Also I’m saying guardian and human despite guardians also being part of humanity just because it’s easier.)

-Warlock ships are actually pretty similar to Hunters.  Not as Rust Bucket looking because they can always go back to the tower for repairs or upgrades, but they’re also a second home.  I mean with how much research they do, they need a mobile operations base in order to catalogue and dissect what they find.  So yes, they have a lot of trash, books, and artifacts, but think of it more as a mad scientist’s lair than a comfortable home.  It’s messy but it’s functional, and given that they actually do tend to live in the tower and go back there a lot, their ship doesn’t always have to be that comfortable either, though some warlocks will go the extra mile to make it so.  The outside of a warlock’s ship is nothing to really pay much mind to.  It’s got scratched up paint, bumps and bruises.  They make sure it flies and won’t explode on them, but they’re not too worried about it looking fancy.  It’s a mobile operations base, not a showpiece.  

These are my overall thoughts on the classes.  I think there’s a lot of steryotypes for each class that isn’t fully correct, and I don’t think it does these classes full justice to not explore them more.  Titans aren’t stupid, hunters aren’t all goofy or brooding, and Warlocks don’t sit in libraries all day.  I do have some inherant bias, I’m a Warlock main and I take pride in that fact.  But hopefully everyone can find something they can connect with when it comes to the class theuy feel closest to. <3

most of the stories arent tied down to canon theyre more whatever worldbuilding i have and stories pop up from them- one of the first ones was the shina-tomi failed peacetalks bc i wanted to draw sanemi & giyuu fighting (i just realized i placed the branches perfectly bc thats closer to canon than the others lol)

if the peacetalks worked(wouldve been later/after sanemi took over) then it kinda snowballed into a few nearby/allied clans forming a village, then from that theres the Tomi-Daki diplomat/trade envoy w the fox trio(giyu makomo & sabito)

the rescues are like. little to no formal interactions between any of the three clans(shina-kumeno is always allied), in the first one its winter and giyu's on his way home when he catches the trail of bloodline hunters and saves Genya & Masachika.

in the other one giyu's pinned by a rogue shinobi and sanemi & sabito both find him at the same time and they make a lil truce bc giyu has severe chakra exhastion and cant make it home

undercover mission has one thats purely sanegiyu; sanemi is disguised as Kazura & giyu as Gikuro and actually i looked back at my notes and this ones like. in the past before the village branch. so it connects to that one but it can also be a standalone. the other undercover mission is sabisanegiyu where sabito & giyuu went undercover as a master/servant thing and sanemi was disgusted by it and didnt know that it wasnt Real so he tried to 'save' giyuu and got invited to the polycule<3

the lil unnamed branches inbetween is that one where giyu got chased out the clan by tsutako for killing their mom, there was a spy who had taken her place and giyu noticed and killed the spy but tsutako only saw him killing their mom and she lost her shit in dispair & heartbreak. theres a branch for Giyu staying alone, Sabito ditching the urokodakis for his packmate while makomo stays behind to fix things with tsutako, and both Sabito & Makomo ditching the urokodakis for their packmate

the arranged marriages are sanegiyu with the first branch being after sanemi takes over and giyu asking for it ot of goodwill & he likes him(his pack gets to stay w him). other two Kyogo requested(demanded) it for trade routes, he doesnt allow the urokodakis to go with bc theyre Not Tomiokas and these routes more heavily portray the different biology of the southerners/mountain-pass(a/b/o)

ones angsty bc sanemi is like. CRUSHED that he cant find love on his own. his father takes literally everything away from him. while sanemi is kind & respects giyu he doesnt really care for him. and for giyu to go from a very close-knit family-oriented culture to the stone cold-cutthroat/conservative/severely traumatized/individualist culture of the shinazigawas with literally No One there for him he gets pretty fucked up w the emotional neglect

the other ones less angsty bc sanemi actually Tries in their relationship and finds that he actually enjoys giyu's company- and cuddles. the cuddles r fuckin great. but kyogo's still a cunt and a massive hindrance to emotional and mental healing of everyone around him. but sanemi's not alone now so its Better

Two reasons why I think Azurathel calls Turalyon a zealot:

(1) The most likely: His first introduction to the Alliance is being met with soldiers that have him and the dracthyr surrounded point blank right outside Stormwind and sees the place is crawling with SI:7 scouts that are keeping tabs on them and mages that can see through their visages at any given moment. This is an example of being wary of a new entity that’s finding refuge/a new home from a black dragon that was at one point under Alliance custody for playing both sides in the Pandaria Campaign plus the history of fighting between the Alliance and black dragons a’la Onyxia, so it makes sense that the trust isn’t there. However to him this probably verges on the grounds of paranoia (because, again, there’s no way Azurathel has any idea of the history between the Alliance and black dragons at this point in DF), so while Azurathel understands the precautions he’s thinking along the lines “yeah, this guy’s may be a good soldier and leader but he’s also cracked, he doesn’t need a Titan artifact to watch what we’re doing” - and Turalyon understands the wariness.

Or,

(2) The least unlikely: Azurathel heard about Turalyon being a Light worshipper (despite not having any idea what the Light would be, being asleep for millennia), saw him decked in that golden armor, equated that to the Primalists’ worship of the Incarnates and usage of their shamanic magic, and had warning klaxons go off.

Or,

(3) The devs know how much people are salivating over having a (white) Human Male Paladin being made a villain for a change (due to a number of player HMPs in RP realms being alt-right/channeling their fascism/xenophobia through Scarlet Crusade RP) and threw in the “zealot” crack as a nod to the fanbase that want villain!Turalyon despite there not being any buildup between Azurathel and the dracthyr being led to Stormwind and him meeting Turalyon off-screen) a’la See Point 2.

Every fun post on here that encourages people to have hobbies/be creative always gets an avalanche of "Some people are poor Karen" type reactions and respectfully, you're all super annoying. I've never lived above the poverty line and this is a list of hobbies I have that were cheap or entirely free:

Read books: Go to the library, lend a book from a friend

knitting, crochet, embroidery: Get some needles from the bargan store and ask around, people have leftovers from projects they'll happily give you. Thrift stores also often carry leftover fabric and other supplies. And talk about your hobby loud enough and an old lady will show up and gift you their whole collection, because there are way more old ladies with a closet full of wool than there are grandchildren who want to take up the hobby.

Origami/paper crafts: get some scrap paper and scissors, watch a youtube tutorial

walking: put on shoes open door

pilates/yoga/etc: get a mat or just use your carpet, watch a youtube tutorial

Houseplants: look online for people that swap plant cuttings. There are always people giving out stuff for free to get you started. If you're nice enough you'll probably get extra

gardening: You're gonna need some space for this one of course but you can just play around with seeds and cuttings from your grocery vegetables.

aquarium keeping is a bit of an obscure one but I got most of my stuff second hand for cheap or free and now I have a few thousand euro worth of material and plants.

drawing/art: You get very far just playing with bargan store materials. I did my entire art degree with mostly those.

writing: Rotate a cow in your head for free

cooking: again one you can make very expensive, but there are many budget recipes online for free. Look for African or Asian shops to get good rice and cheap spices.

Join a non-profit: Cities will have creative organisations who let you use woodworking machines or screen presses or laser cutters or 3D printers etc etc etc for a small fee. Some libraries also lend out materials.

candle making: You need some molds (cheap), wick, two old cooking pots for au bain marie melting and a ton of scrap candles, ask people to keep them aside for you.

a herbarium, flower pressing: Leaves are free, wildflowers too, ask if you can take from peoples gardens.

puzzles: thrift stores, your grandma probably

Citizen science: look for projects in your area or get the iNaturalist app

And lastly and most importantly: Share! Share your supllies, share your knowledge. Surround yourself with other creative people and before you know it someone will give you a pot of homemade jam and when you want to paint your kabinet someone will have leftover paint in just the right color and you can give them a homemade candle in return and everyone is having fun and building skills and friendships and not a cent is exchanged. We have always lived like this, it's what humans are build to do.

And all of it sure beats sitting behind a computer going "No stranger, I refuse to let myself have a good time."
