The cold breeze envelopes you into the timeless nights of Kowloon Hell as your mind races back to the events that led you here.

It all began on that island—an isolated stretch of land where the D-rankers were gathered for testing. The mission was simple: survive or be slaughtered. But it was there, between the chaos and bloodshed, that you and Thaddeus crossed paths.

It was on that island that you asked Thaddeus to be your teacher. Watching him fight stirred something deep within you—his combat skills were both terrifying and mesmerizing, leaving you in awe while also sending a chill of fear through your veins.

You glance around. The training area is secluded, hidden beneath the shadow of a ruined building. The growing darkness of dusk makes the atmosphere unsettling.

The name of this city, after all, is spot on. It does look quite like hell.

"Are you ready, little one?" And there he is, with his annoying little smirk.

You couldn't stand him. How could you?

He's an asshole pretending to be a goody two-shoes. You can't wrap your head around the fact that everyone finds him fun to be around.

He's just a little brat, walking around like the world belongs to him.

That smile of his, the one that always lingers on his lips, as if he's holding some secret he refuses to share, makes your blood boil. It's as if he knows exactly how to push your buttons, teasing you as if he finds your irritation amusing, as if your every reaction were a game to him.

You hated how effortlessly he seemed to get under your skin. It's maddening. If only he'd stop dragging you into his twisted games. But no, he's always there—the more you try to ignore him, the more it feels like he's just waiting to prove you wrong.

And now that you've spent even more time together, as if it were possible, Thaddeus seemed even more irritating. The tension between you two is palpable, an unspoken challenge hanging in the air, charging every movement, every breath. The training sessions were a constant reminder of the fine line between hate and desire.

Several weeks had passed since your first lesson together. You remembered his words:

"I won't be a gentle teacher," Thaddeus said. "I will push all your limits. You'll learn discipline and perseverance."

And it was very much the truth. He did, in fact, break all your boundaries and limits—not that it was a bad thing. He's a good teacher; he just has a very unique and questionable way of teaching.

But it was worth it. You made great progress.

"Today you'll fight me," Thaddeus snapped you out of your thoughts, throwing some bands at you to wrap around your hands. "Should we make a bet, doll face?" His languid smile threw you off. You were startled by this sudden change of behavior; his eyes sparked with mischievousness.

"What kind of bet?" you asked cautiously. It was obvious that this was just another one of his twisted mind games, where he is the only one to take pleasure from ruining others.

"If I win," Thaddeus continued, his voice dripping with amusement, "you'll have to follow my orders for the next week. No questions, no complaints."

Your mind racing as you weighed your options. Thaddeus wasn't the type to lose, and the thought of being under his orders unsettled you. But then again, you had no intention of letting any weakness show

"And if I win?" you asked, trying to keep your voice steady despite the growing tension.

Thaddeus’s grin widened, a glint of something darker in his eyes. "If you win, I'll leave you alone for the same amount of time. No games, no tricks, just peace."

It sounded alluring .Too good to be true.

A rare opportunity to be free of his manipulation, but something inside you told you it was a trap.

"What’s the catch?" you asked, narrowing your eyes.

He chuckled softly"No catch, doll. But you'll have to earn it."

The Apostle assumes a combat stance, smirking quietly to himself.

He revels in your reactions; they ignite a dark, dangerous fire within him that he can't quite comprehend. That relentless, stubborn attitude of yours drives him to the edge, making him eager to break you—body and soul—in more ways than one.

"Let's see what you got, doll face," he says mockingly.

This will be interesting, he thinks to himself.

The air was thick with the scent of sweat and leather, the only sound being the soft, rhythmic thud of your shoes against the ground.

Thaddeus’s eyes gleamed with that familiar playfulness as he took his stance once again.

"You can’t even keep up with the basics," he remarked, his voice dripping with amusement as you struggled to block one of his kicks.

"Still think you’re ready for this?" His gaze pierced right through you.

"Shut up, asshole." With a fierce grunt, you lunged forward, aiming to land a punch.

"Oh~" he chuckled. "You shouldn't run your mouth. I'm your teacher, doll face," he said, dismissing your attempts to hit him.

Thaddeus came closer, positioning himself behind you. You could feel the heat emanating from his body.

"Here, let me help you." His lips brushed against your ear, his whisper low and husky, his hands landing on your waist to correct your form.

The heat from his touch seared through your body, as if it burned you. You flinched but didn’t pull away.

"Relax... you're too tense," he murmured, his breath warm and tickling against your ear, giving you goosebumps.

Thaddeus noticed your reaction and smiled to himself, pleased. He relished the power—even if minimal—that he held over you.

He enjoyed toying with your senses—he squeezed your waist, light yet possessing, before letting go.

You clenched your jaw, refusing to acknowledge how his proximity affected you.

"Let's try it again."

Your body was on fire, every muscle screaming from the relentless pace. You knew Thaddeus was toying with you, deliberately letting you get close enough to think you might land a hit—only to dodge at the last moment. But his movements were smooth, almost predatory. You were both breathing hard, drenched in sweat, but neither of you was willing to admit defeat.

But just as you lunged one last time, your movements faltering for a split second, his hand shot out, catching your wrists.

In the blink of an eye, Thaddeus had you pinned against the wall. As you looked up at him, time seemed to stretch, the world narrowing to just the two of you.

"Looks like I won," his tall figure towering over you, making you feel tiny and vulnerable.

"Get off, weird glasses," you said, trying to sound indifferent, as if you weren't at his mercy.

He leaned in closer, a smirk playing on his lips. "Nope, I don't think I will."Thaddeus's voice was soft, but the challenge in it was unmistakable. His grip on your wrists tightened, and you could feel his pulse beating against your own, matching the erratic rhythm of your heart.

You swallowed hard, your mind racing for a way to escape his grasp. You tried to shift, to use your body weight to your advantage, but it was futile.

"Let go of me, Thaddeus," you spat, venom lacing your voice, though even you could hear the uncertainty beneath it.

"Tch, tch, tch," he murmured, lowering his head. "I'm the one who won the bet, pretty little thing."

It was the confirmation you’d dreaded: all of this was a trap. He had you exactly where he wanted.

Thaddeus traced a finger slowly down your jawline, then lifted your chin with deliberate tenderness. He leaned in closer, his face mere inches from yours. You closed your eyes, feeling the light brush of his lips against yours, and for a heartbeat, you wondered if he might kiss you. The mere possibility twisted your stomach.

But no. Instead, he rested his forehead against yours.

Thaddeus, clearly delighted by your reaction, let out a soft chuckle—a mocking, dark sound.

"You're a challenge, doll face," he whispered, his voice low, a dangerous edge to it. "And I like challenges."

His gaze searched yours, seeking something you couldn’t quite name.

Hate? Desire? Hunger?

"I’ll kiss you," he said abruptly.

Your eyes widened at his words. You turned your head, as if the movement could banish the turmoil rising inside you. "No," you whispered, more to yourself than to him. You wanted it—and the thought maddened you.

Thaddeus raised an eyebrow, savoring the sight of your flustered expression. "Yes," he said, and before you could protest further, his lips crashed against yours.

This was no gentle kiss. It was rough, hungry, possessive—an expression of all the unspoken tension between you.

Thaddeus held you with one of his large hands, pinning you in place, while the other slid down to your waist.

Every instinct in your body urged you closer to him.

Thaddeus softly pulls away, his lips brushing gently over your lower lip before he breaks the kiss.

"I knew you wanted this as much as I do," he murmurs, the words lingering in the air between you. A shiver runs through you at his certainty, and it makes you painfully aware of the truth you've been hiding—how much you've pretended not to feel, how much you've denied the pull of his presence.

You meet his gaze, unwilling to give him the satisfaction of seeing the effects he has over you. Your heart pounds in your chest.

"I hate you," you snap, the words laced with frustration—anger not just at him, but at the burning, forbidden desire that threatens to unravel you.

Thaddeus's lips curl into a knowing smile, a low chuckle escaping him. He sees right through the mask you’ve so carefully constructed.

"Hate me all you want, doll face. But you’re still here, aren’t you?"

He didn't need you to say it out loud:the kiss has told him everything he needed to know.

This wasn’t just a fleeting game anymore.

"Show me how much you hate me," he says, smirking knowingly. But you don’t have time to respond before his lips meet yours once more.

He lifts you effortlessly, without breaking the kiss—everything about him is too easy, too confident. It feels almost natural to be in his arms, as if this is exactly where you belong.

He sets you down gently on the weathered table, positioning himself between your legs.

A surge of irritation courses through you, and before you can stop it, your teeth sink into his lower lip, biting down with enough force to draw blood. The sharp, metallic taste fills your mouth, but it’s quickly drowned by the heat of his mouth on yours.

Thaddeus hisses, his breath sharp and shallow but he doesn’t pull away. Instead, his grip tightens around you, his body pressing closer, his heat seeping into every inch of you. “You have no idea how much I love it when you’re like this,” he murmurs, his voice low and dark...sending a shiver of something you refuse to name spiraling down your spine.

The words vibrate through you, igniting a hunger that you try desperately to suppress. But with each movement, each breath, you feel yourself unraveling further, helpless against the pull of his touch, the ache in your chest that makes it harder and harder to remember why you hate him so much.

With a kiss that mirrors the intensity of his passion, he takes a handful of your hair and tilts your head to expose the soft curve of your neck. He whispers in your ear, his voice low, "You drive me insane," before pressing open-mouthed kisses down your throat, biting, suckling—marking you.

Thaddeus hums softly to himself, savoring the sight of his marks upon you—so innocent,so delicate. It stirs something primal and visceral within him, a deep, aching hunger that refuses to be ignored.

In the back of his mind, clouded by desire, a thought urges him to stain you further, to make you submit to him. Only to him.

Thaddeus stands over you, breathing heavily.You’ve both crossed a line now. His touch, his words—there's no escaping it.

"You're mine now," Thaddeus murmurs, his voice dark but oddly tender as his gaze softens just enough to make your heart skip.

"Open your mouth," he commands, his voice low, almost a whisper, but heavy with authority.

You hesitate, feeling the weight of his gaze on you; however, your head tells you to follow his instructions to please him.

Slowly, you part your lips, looking up at him as if you were a puppy waiting for its owner's praise.

He smiles, pleased with your obedience, his eyes tracing every subtle movement you make. Then, without warning, he slides two of his fingers into your mouth. A small, almost inaudible whimper escapes your mouth as you take in the thickness of his fingers.

"That's it," Thaddeus murmurs, his voice thick with satisfaction. He begins to move, his fingers deepening inside your mouth. "Yes, good puppy," he praises, his tone dark and laced with dominance, amazed by how effortlessly you submit to him.

His breath quickens, each inhale sharp and shallow, as the heat between you intensifies.

The warmth of your mouth, the sight of your complete submission, and the way your tongue swirls around his fingers—it's almost too much for him to bear.

He pulls his coated fingers from your mouth, bringing them slowly to his lips. His eyes never leave yours, dark with lust and intensity, as he licks them clean, savoring the taste of you.

You almost whine in protest but then,realization hits you.

What the fuck just happened?!

You push him away with all your strengths

The pull between you is undeniable. You're tangled up in his world, in his games.

You turn around facing him once more.

"I hate you," you whisper, but the words feel empty now.He already knows the truth.

And with that awareness you storm out the training area.

The kiss, the tension, the games—this isn't over. Not yet.

Well it wouldn't be a Sunday without me asking another obscure question about Johnny Storm.

Is he canonically a good cook or is this something (like his singing) that's vaguely addressed. I know the infamous (affectionate) panel with him cooking breakfast for Pete & have seen other panels where he's doing /something/ in the kitchen but idk if it's ever actually addressed??

That said, it would make a lot of sense with his powers being what they are but I can kinda imagine him being decent with food prep even before he got them 🤔

See, now I'm going to be expecting a Johnny question next Sunday, too.

Yes, there is significant canon evidence that Johnny can cook! Which makes sense -- while they were nebulously raised by their aunt after Franklin Storm went to prison, most canon presents Johnny and Sue as having to be very self-sufficient in their younger years, before Sue met Reed.

(Fantastic Four #520) This whole arc, Rising Storm, is really good for Johnny feelings, by the way -- his powers are swapped with Sue's temporarily, and he's kidnapped by Galactus to serve as his herald. Great stuff.

(Fantastic Four: A Death in the Family) "I've always cooked. Ever since we were kids. (...) I don't know if I was always interested in cooking -- but I was always interested in eating, and you were more interested in..." "In what?" "Raising me."

So he was definitely cooking before he got his powers, too, although his intrinsic understanding of fire and heat definitely help in the kitchen.

(FF (just the numbers) v2 #16) "I think you're an amazing chef with an instinctive understanding of fire, Johnny." He's manning the grill on the moon in a Keeper of the Flame apron.

And, of course, the whole "cooking breakfast for Peter wearing nothing but briefs and an apron" incident.

(FF (again just the initials) #17) Just throw yourself at him already, Johnny. Wait for him naked in his bed or something. Oh, wait, he did that too.

Also, I know it's not relevant to the Johnny half of the equation, but there is evidence that Peter can cook, too, but he pretty much only does it when he's in a relationship. Otherwise he's got an empty fridge and he's webbing peoples' fast food orders out of their hands on the street. (No, really. He did this in canon. JJJ is right about him.)

When it comes to Yandere! Vampires, I don’t go for the usual romanticized, angsty, or gothic portrayals. Instead, I base my interpretation on the real origins of vampire myths—historical cases, early folklore, and actual criminal events that shaped the concept of vampires.

♡ Historical Basis of Vampires.

The vampire archetype wasn’t born out of fantasy but fear—specifically, fear of the unknown, disease, and serial killers before the term even existed. Some of the earliest “vampires” were actually:

Folkloric Figures: In Eastern Europe, corpses were sometimes exhumed and found with bloated bodies and blood at the mouth, leading to beliefs in revenants.

Plague Victims: During outbreaks, bodies were found in states of decomposition that looked unnatural (e.g., receding gums exposing more teeth, bloated stomachs). People assumed they were rising from the grave to spread disease.

Real Killers: Figures like Elizabeth Báthory (1560–1614), accused of bathing in the blood of virgins, or Peter Kürten (the "Vampire of Düsseldorf," 1883–1931), who drank victims' blood, reinforced the monstrous image.

♡ Yandere! Vampires: No Clichés, Just Psychological Horror.

If I were to write a Yandere! Vampire, it wouldn’t be some brooding immortal with tragic eyes whispering about eternity. Instead, it would reflect the true horror behind the myth:

Bloodlust as a Ritual: Killing and consuming someone isn’t just an act of hunger; it’s deeply intimate. This aligns with how historical cases of vampirism often involved obsession and ritualistic behavior.

Possession, Not Just Love: Yandere behavior stems from extreme obsession and control. A true vampire yandere wouldn’t just stalk or protect their darling; they would see them as something to be consumed, owned, and preserved—perhaps in a literal sense.

Eroticism and Death: Historically, vampirism has always been tied to both seduction and violence. Rather than softening it into a fantasy, I’d lean into the disturbing, almost religious reverence of taking a life in the name of love.

Kinks: Blood Drinking / Blood Play, Vore, Sanguinarianism, Biting / Marking, Feeding Control, Total Ownership / Objectification, Hypnosis / Mind Control, Sacrificial Play, Necrophilic Undertones, Fear Play

♡ Comparison to Yandere! Sukuna.

I view Yandere! Sukuna in the same way. A "soft" Sukuna is a contradiction. If he were to cherish someone, it would be through the ultimate act of consumption—literally savoring his darling as a meal. This isn't mindless brutality but an act of twisted intimacy. Similarly, a true Yandere! Vampire wouldn’t just protect or admire their darling; they would worship them in the most visceral, horrifying way possible.

♡ Final Thoughts.

I respect different takes on yandere vampires, but for my own writing, I refuse to dilute them into fantasy tropes. A vampire’s love is terrifying because it’s not love—it’s hunger disguised as devotion.

Ok so I’ve been back in my brain-rot and I can’t stop thinking about marauders criminal mind au where the lions and snakes are two different teams that work together from time to time.

Enjoy my ramblings as I can’t sleep and don’t have the willpower to plot this thing out right now I might write a ff about this after I got some sleep

The lions are like the main team:

James is team leader he is like the only one without childhood trauma he just wants to do good. He was always agent and worked organised crime before he stayed at the bau. His specialty that, hostage negotiations, spree killers and group dynamics

Sirius - the black family is still bad but not that bad (at first I was thinking mafia but I don’t think that really fits with what I pictured). So the idea is very strict military family with traditional values and an abusive approach. Sirius does not want that he rebels runs away at 16 lives ok with his uncles support finishes school and starts at quantico the same time James does. They become friends and keep in touch. He start working sex crimes. James brings him into the bau after some years. His specialty is victimology and sexual based offenders.

Remus- worked as a cop before becoming a profiler. Is their communication specialist and does anything press related. Has the task of “choosing” the cases (like Jj). Has a chronic illness (his worsening and diagnosis lead to the job change) that limits his mobility and does most of his work in the precincts. Is also the one that speaks to most of the family members. His father died in a home invasion (the reason he became a cop to catch people like grayIForgotTheRestOfHisName) his mom raised him as a struggling single mother and supports him through all his decisions.

Peter- tech specialist. He is VERY good at what he does. Is a white hat (never hacked for himself or anyone else than the good guys). Has a degree in computer sciences. Taught himself most of his skills as a teen cause he got bored and was discovered early the state payed for his degree. He travels with the team a lot and works with his mobile rig unless its very tech heavy cases where he needs to be near the severs or it’s in the middle of nowhere and the connection would be to bad. His parents where killed when he was a teen & computers where his save space.

Lily - was a lawyer before the bau (a prosecutor like hotch) her specialty is geographic profiles, comfort zones and crimes involving children but she is also very good at everything else. Her parents where very harsch on her, she only has partial contact and is trying to fix her relationship with her sister who is the “perfect poster child” and became a doctor.

Marlene - is the Teams linguist. She speaks a lot of different languages and profiles all the messages left by unsubs. She is also very good at reading body language and figuring out if someone is lying. Her parents are diplomats so she moved a lot as a kid and had a hart time making friends.

Mary- has a law degree but never practiced she decided she wanted to be an fbi agent instead. Her specialty is phycology and signatures. She spends a lot of time Time to get into a killers head and compensates by keeping in contact with survivors and organising ways for them to support eachother.

Now the snakes are more like a red team (they also all speak multiple languages):

Regulus - is team leader. Did not get away form his family like Sirius did. He joined the military the first possibility he got (17 I think is the soonest you can join don’t quote me on that I am not American) he met Evan there and had his first real friend. He became a military cop and after a few years policing soldiers reconnected with his brother. Sirius inspired him to become a profiler as well. He is very good at it and ambitious so he got promoted fast and was offered his own team that he could hand pick (he is also one of the youngest team leaders there is)

Evan - also comes from a military family. The abuse in his family is more phycological than the black family. He bonded with regulus is basic and the kept in touch. Because of a phyc eval and other reasons he became a sniper. The military also payed for his med school and he was planing to become a coroner after. Regulus recuted him for his team instead and he took some curses in profiling. His specialty is victimology and body language. He is very good at interrogation by phycing the person out and being very unhinged. He is the least freaked out by violent crimes scenes but very compassionate even if he doesn’t show it.

Pandora- is Evans twin in this (because she always is in my AUs). Evan has protected and shielded her as good as he could as a child. She rebelnd and didn’t go to the military. Worked 2 jobs so she could pay for collage after being cut of. Is a computer and tech (software and hardware) Spezialist. Did some environmental hacking before joining the team but was never official caught or charged. Regulus chose her without knowing the connection to Evan and they laughed their ass of about it afterwards, he basically stole her from another team by offering her more field work and freedom about how she wants to handle things.

Barty- Senior is still a politician who wanted him to follow in his footsteps. Barty didn’t want to. His dad was really abusive to both him and his mom. He tried to get her out of it but she doesn’t want to so he cut contact to both (but still sends her money in hopes she may get the strength to get herself out). He decided to become an agent to help kids like him and women in similar situations that wanted help. He has a big problem with authority where he will speak his mind even if it hurts your feelings. That quality got him ridden up a lot but is also why reg chose him, he likes that he tells him what he is thinking without all the social bullsh*t. Barty has an eidetic memory and perfect recall he is basically a specialist in everything but especially good in thinking like the unsub.

Dorcas- has a history in going over her superiors heads without asking because they where sexist idiots and the work needed to be done. She has a degree in phycology and is the one that interviews most of the family’s and surviving victims. Before joining the team she was interviewing offenders because they didn’t want her anymore at the anti terror devision.

Ships because it’s maunders and there is always ships:

Wolfstar- they go through a painful slowburn and finally confess after Remus ends up in the hospital with a flare up. Just after they get together Sirius gets seriously (hehe) hurt and we get more angst. After that they fast track their relationship move in after ca. 3/4 months married after a year.

James/lily/regulus - lily is the only one who has figured out being poly before we begin she is interested in both but concerned about dating her boss. Regulus and her go on a few dates until he confesses he might also be interested in James. They bond over it and make a plan to get James to consider. They find a way around the whole boss thing by lily becoming a supervisory special agent and technically being in the same level as both her boys. They plan a lot before starting their family and take turns staying home with Harry after he is born combined with really good child care services (they have the money and James parents)

Lily/Marlene - they date separate (like poly people do). There is a little bit of a hierarchy but it is communicated properly and not that big. Harry just takes priority. They stated dating after Harry’s birth.

Mary/original nb character- her partner is an emt they meet at the job. Later they are involved in a case where emergency responders are targeted. They exchange numbers and start dating but decide to take it slow. No angst here they are a perfect pair and live their truth as lesbians (the nb character identities as an nonbinary lesbian cause I say so)

Peter/NASA Person (haven’t desided on the gender jet) - they are neighbours and keep running into eachother cause they both keep weird hours. They go on cute Coffee dates and nerd together.

Rosekiller- they have a will they won’t they thing and finally kiss is a life threatening situation just to decide to not speak about it afterward. Their team is shortly before staging an intervention when they finally get their sh*t together but tell no one except for Pandora (cause she knows everything). When it comes up on a case that they are dating money changes hands.

Pandora/xeno (Genderfluid)- they are a wild life specialist that she met through a university friend. They are dating the whole time and everything is fine. Luna is a nice surprise especially cause she is born in the same year Harry is. Xeno does a lot of work from home anyways so she stays there most of the time. There is also grandparents and the potters if he is away in some jungle.

Dorcas/original female character - she is dating a lawyer. They met over a case that the gf is prosecuting. There is some drama from time to time but nothing they can’t fix.

Side characters:

Frank and Alice- lilys childhood friends. Sometimes babysit Harry. Frank is a banker, Alice a baker.

Black cousins- andy is a social worker amd married to teacher Ted, Bella is a high ranking officer in the military, Narcissa is a pharmacist and divorced from Lucius, they are still friends they just didn’t work out it was a kind of arranged marriage and they got the best thing of their life’s out of it Draco.

Emilia bones- is a reporter. One of the good ones that does investigative work and doesn’t harass victims.

Dubeldore is a corrupt superior

mcgonagall -is the best boss ever and becomes director

Tom riddle is a cult leader- snakes do some undercover work.

Mad eye moody- is an unsub that nearly kills Evan barty has a crisis over it and nearly goes rouge

my hot takes about patho fandom generally fall into one of two catergories: 1. stop taking literally all of your characterization and information from the hbomb video and 2. stop making artemy and daniil generic tall-short blonde-brunette seme-uke top-bottom cardboard cutouts in fic. and they kind of bleed into each other if i'm being honest.

i tend to see two kinds of characterizations of artemy and daniil that strip all nuance and three-dimensionality that made them interesting to me in the first place, and then i think fandom tends to respond to the fanonization/flanderization by doing the exact opposite. both in fic and in analysis. so i'll see a lot of posts and fic and whatnot that treat daniil like this incompetent idiot who cannot even administer flu shots properly and never has a nice thing to say or think to or about anyone, and this gets coupled with a huge amount of fic and posts where artemy is this sweet gentle herbivore (someone even said he would be a vegan which was just baffling) who is incapable of ever doing anything wrong to anyone in his life. less often i'll see woobified daniil with all his actions excused and explained away to make him into someone who is never intenionally a dick, paired with borderline abusive artemy who is a literal serial killer for fun. and also fuck anyone and everyone else in this game because no one seems to give a shit about any other character. (which isn't to say that no one's writing or interested in writing about it; it's rarer, but people in the fandom also just do not give a shit about interacting with anything else. rarepairs get little and gen fic gets nothing.)

i know everyone gets bent out of shape about 'gatekeeping' things like fandom but like i'll be honest, if you openly and proudly proclaim that you've never interacted with the narrative of pathologic on any level then i kinda don't give a shit what you have to say about it. in analysis or fic. and why should i? who would read a book review written by someone whose sole interaction with the material was a nostalgia critic review of the film adaptation? because that's kind of what it feels like.

also the way the fandom interacts with the stamatin twins is just really really odd to me. people will woobify and infantilize peter worse than i see them doing to anybody else (although murky is a runner up like ffs she is autistic not a toddler stop drawing and treating her like she's 4) and make andrey out to be a saturday morning cartoon villain. and as an andrey stamatin fan i'm kind of tired of the endless "anything and everything potentially negative about peter is andrey and andrey alone".

I have achieved ultimate bingo.

I'm not sure what my favorite movie of the bunch was, but "Nope," "Across the Spider-Verse," "the Black Phone," "Totally Killer," "Words on Bathroom Walls," and "the Batman" are all pretty up there.

I tried to watch a movie every Saturday of this year. I didn't hit them all, but I did manage to watch a whopping 33 movies, exposing myself to stories and genres that I normally wouldn't, and I'm very happy to have gotten that far.

I probably won't watch anywhere near that amount of movies in 2024 (I have other plans for the year that are going to be fairly time consuming), but this was a fun experience.

Post #23: UXM Annual issue 5, Avengers Annual issue 10, and UXM issues 151-152

This annual costars the Fantastic Four. Other than Hank’s periodical appearances, which don’t really count as a crossover, this is the first proper team-up story Claremont has written. Just as a general rule, when I’m writing about team-up stories with characters not under the X-umbrella, I’m mostly gonna breeze over the parts with other heroes to focus on the X-Men characters, cause I don’t wanna lose focus in this post series. I do love the FF and maybe I’ll write about them, but not today. The exception will be when those parts of the story are adding to the X-parts, like in some later FF crossovers where there’s focus on cross-team relationships and thematic parallels between the two families. Here, though, they’re just here for the creators to have fun with and to boost sales. It is interesting that right after Byrne left to write and draw Fantastic Four, Claremont writes a Doom story and now an FF one. Maybe their  relationship has improved with distance, or maybe he’s trying to piss him off. Anyway, most of the FF is kidnapped by the alien Badoon, who have tracked and killed a Shi’ar messenger looking for Xavier. Susan escapes and goes to the X-Men for help. The Shi’ar’s last words were of Arkon, and Scott still has his teleportation lightning bolts, so the team goes to his world. This is Kitty’s first official mission, and she tries to wear another ridiculous self-made costume, but they make her change. The Badoon conquered Polymachus and captured Arkon, and once their military is stronger, the plan to conquer the Shi’ar as well. Before going into the field, Kurt and Logan have a follow-up to the conversation they had after their trip to Canada. Logan says that this is war and he’ll do what’s necessary. Kurt says he can’t and won’t stop him, but he wants him to remember the value of life and the gravity of killing, even when it’s justified. Kurt believes that Logan can and should try to change his killer ways. They put the conversation on hold as the team splits up to attack different areas of the Badoon citadel. Peter finds himself overwhelmed by a Badoon monster, but when it threatens Kitty, he’s overcome with berserker rage and defeats it. We’ve seen before and we’ll see again Peter’s temper. He’s not the traditional stereotype of a battle happy strongman. He’s typically more of the gentle giant archetype, sensitive and loving with a preference for peace. But he subverts that too with a temper second only to Logan’s. It’s a nice character decision that sets him apart from a lot of other bricks. Sue frees her team, and there’s a few pages of Brent Anderson (who’s back for this issue by the way, I forgot to mention earlier) having fun with the huge ensemble until Reed does some science to destroy a big self destructing machine and save the day. The X-Men have inspired the people of Polymachus to revolt and win back their world. Before the X-Men go home, Ororo and Arkon kiss and tell each other they wish they could be together, but neither can leave their world and their responsibilities. Ororo says she lives single by choice, and rarely regrets that, but does now with Arkon. Compared to her teammates, Ororo has very few love interests of the course of her history, and I’m very glad for that. Over the years, other than T’Challa, which is a relationship that I honestly find bland and underdeveloped, and Forge, which is an on again off again thing that’s very interesting but should have ended in the eighties, her relationships have either been short lived and forgotten or censored for being gay. I think it’s the best thing for the character; she’s very independent and free, and I feel like most of her possible love interests intentionally or unintentionally stifle some parts of her very complex personality. She only feels like she’s fully herself when she’s single, and it’s good for characters like that to exist. That being said, I do think that she and Logan having a quasi-romantic friends with benefits situation would be really interesting for both characters, since I have similar thoughts about Logan, and it would be a unique relationship in the franchise. But I’ll talk about that later. Overall, this was a fun and inconsequential crossover, but it does plant the seeds for some great FF/X-Men stories down the line.

Avengers Annual 10 actually takes places before issue 150, which Carol had a brief appearance in, but it doesn’t have much affect on the series until after, so I think this is the best place to read it to maintain the flow of the series. I’m gonna speak very briefly about the plot cause most of it is about the Avengers (duh). I will be focusing on Carol Danvers, because she’s about to briefly join the X-Men, and Rogue, because this is her first appearance and origin (also just in advance I’m gonna call her Anna just to fit the pattern, but that wasn’t revealed as her name until I think 2004). Some backstory: in the worst Avengers story ever written, retroactively called the Rape of Ms. Marvel, Carol was mind controlled by a time traveler named Marcus, who “persuaded” her to fall in love with him and because of weird time travel give birth to him. He was only able to permanently exist in a pocket limbo dimension, so Carol went there with him and all of the Avengers thought it was romantic. In this story, the Avengers find out she’s mysteriously back when she falls off a bridge in a coma. Jessica Drew saves her and calls Xavier, who says that her conscious mind has been completely erased. This is revealed to be the work of Anna, who absorbed her powers permanently and as a side effect her personality. On the orders of Mystique, her adoptive mother, she beats up the Avengers, stealing their powers before breaking the Brotherhood out of prison. The Avengers stop them, but Anna and Mystique escape again. Anna actually gets very little character work in this issue; she’s mostly just gloating about how strong she is and beating everyone up. The Avengers go to the X-Mansion to speak with Carol, who breaks down and tells them the full story: they all accepted Marcus’s story at face value and didn’t question when he said he was no longer controlling Carol, but because of time travel stuff, as soon as they returned to his dimension he aged to death. Carol was able to reopen his portals and return, wanting to rebuild her life away from the Avengers when Anna attacked. From a meta standpoint, this is probably the best way to handle the follow-up to such a horribly conceived and written story. It kinda paints the rest of the Avengers as truly terrible people, but that’s for the best so we can focus on Carol. This is the downside to a huge shared publishing universe: if one author writes a horrible story like this (David Michelinie was the writer of Avengers, but I think Jim Shooter has taken the blame for this story), then the next writer has to deal with the implications. And if one author writes a story that every other author hates, what is the validity of that story in that character’s history? Hank Pym and Peter Parker have both hit their wives in anger due to a writer/artist miscommunication. Later writers ignore the Peter incident, because it was out of character and should never have happened, but for Hank it’s defined him for decades. Which is the right approach? It’s a question that needs to be asked more. It won’t come up much on this blog, because when one man writes the series for 17 years, and most of the spinoffs are by either him or Louise Simonson, who he works closely with, there’s very little disagreement between creators and nothing is forgotten. Which for the most part is a good thing, because Claremont and Simonson are great writers, but there are occasionally some questionable choices, and for better or worse those are always undeniably canon and important.

Finally back to the main series, where Cockrum is taking a break while a whole committee of artists fill in, Xavier gets a letter from Kitty’s parents saying they’re pulling her out of the school so she can go somewhere with kids her age. Which since they don’t know she’s a mutant is a very reasonable move, because if I were a parent I would think it’s very weird that the second youngest “student” is 19. Kitty is heartbroken; not only is she leaving the place and people that make her happiest, she sees this as an attempt to get her even farther away while they’re going through their divorce. And worst of all, they’re sending her to Emma Frost’s Massachusetts Academy. Emma Frost is the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, the first villain Kitty ever faced, and still alive after apparently dying fighting the Phoenix. Kitty’s whole world is falling down around her right when she’d regained stability, and her instinct is to lash out and blame her parents. But Xavier confirms they’re acting of their own free will, so there’s nothing he can do. She says her goodbyes and promises to visit, and kisses Peter, which means I can no longer ignore the elephant in the room I’ve been avoiding mentioning- Kitty and Peter’s relationship. They’ve been flirting and attracted to one another the entire time she’s been on the team, which is so very creepy since he’s at least 19 and she’s 13. This is one of those instances I was talking about last paragraph, where Claremont really should have been stopped, but since he’s the only writer for both characters for so long their relationship can’t just be softly retconned. This is by far my least favorite part of the run, and I hate that to this day it’s still the main on and off relationship for both characters. Ororo drives Kitty to her new school, and when Kitty is off with her orientation advisors, the White Queen appears, swaps their minds. Ororo, in Frost’s body, is a prisoner, why Frost heads back to the X-Men with an evil plan. At the mansion, the second creepiest X-couple, Kurt and his adoptive sister Amanda, are having a walk by the lake when they’re attacked by Sentinels under Shaw’s control. They destroy just as “Ororo” returns and takes them all out. Meanwhile, the real Ororo picks the lock on her cell and goes to Kitty. Unlike Frost, who’s having a great time with the powers of Storm, Ororo is both lost without the power that she put so much of her identity in and overwhelmed by her new telepathic powers. She flashes back to her time with Jean when her own telepathy was growing out of her control, and pulls herself together. But when Kitty tries to run, she accidentally hits her with a psionic attack, knocking her out.

Ororo tries to flee with Kitty, but Frost returns and accidentally causes their car to crash. Kitty saves who she thinks is her enemy, and Ororo tries to tell her who she is. Kitty’s not convinced, but she agrees to go along to save the X-Men in case it is the truth. At the mansion, Shaw turns Logan over to the guards that he gutted in the basement of the Hellfire Club. They survived and were upgraded with cyborg components, and they and Leland torture him to what they think is his death. But it was an illusion cast by Amanda, who the villains don’t realize has powers. Kitty and Logan save their friends, and Logan has a reunion with Cole, one of the bionic guards. Cole begs for death, saying his current existence is worse, but Logan basically calls him a little bitch who’s not worth it. Logan knows that being physically augmented doesn’t take away your humanity, but maybe Cole didn’t have any to begin with. In the past, he would have just killed Cole without hesitation, but now he knows there’s other way. It isn’t mercy though, because Cole wants to die. I think this is Logan starting to agree with Kurt’s idea that even a justified kill weighs on Logan’s soul, and the pathetic Cole isn’t worth it. Meanwhile, the storms Frost has created are out of control, but Ororo, with the mind swapping gun in her hands, takes control of Frost’s mind to reverse the process. She then shoots her, reclaiming her body, and though they are high in the air, she saves Frost from the deadly fall. But when she immediately attacks, Ororo lets loose on her for her horrible acts of violation against Ororo and her friends. She fully intends to kill her, but she’s stopped by Logan of all people. He says that killing changes and taints you, and although he won’t stop, he thinks Ororo shouldn’t give up on being better. He’s very right, because when Ororo does kill, in the upcoming Brood Saga, it changes her, and it’s a long time before she finds herself again. But that’s all later. Right now, the battle is won, but since they’re unable to expose the other group without exposing their own identities, the X-Men and Hellfire Club parts ways hating each other but in peace. Overall, a pretty good arc, but far from the best Hellfire story. It says some interesting things about the violations of mind control and body stealing, but those themes will be done much better in upcoming Carol/Anna stories and in the Brood Saga.

AFL star Jack Ginnivan is slammed by fans by dressing as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween

Collingwood's Jack Ginnivan has landed himself in hot water again, this time for glorifying a serial killer on .

The 19-year-old star posted images to social media of himself dressed as Jeffrey Dahmer, complete with blood-spattered shirt and his iconic glasses. 

Dahmer was an infamous American serial killer known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster who brutally killed 17 people, often carrying out acts of necrophilia and cannibalism on his victims.

He was recently portrayed by actor Evan Peters in the Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which attracted strong criticism from the families of victims, including the mother of aspiring model Tony Hughes.

Ginnivan was widely panned for his costume choice on social media with many asking him to consider the victims' loved ones. 

'I'm sure the families of the victims would like the reminder... Another eye rolling moment and a shaking of the head … tasteless is one word I could use,' one person posted.

'You mean the Jeffrey Dahmer that senselessly and cruelly stole the lives of 17 young men? That Jeffrey Dahmer? How would you all be reacting if he'd dressed up as Martin Bryant? Gross,' posted another.

'These were real people. Human beings. With families and people who loved them,' one person posted along with an image of the victims, while tagging the Collingwood football club.

'What an absolute disgrace. AFL should fine and/or suspend him immediately,' posted another.

However many defended Ginnivan, saying objections were 'woke' and people calling Ginnivan out for dressing as a serial killer were 'snowflakes'.

 'Ffs….how many others dress up for halloween…. Why pick on Jack?' one person tweeted.

'Anyone who is upset about this is a dork. It’s Halloween. People have been dressing as serial killers for decades. Don’t be such a loser,' tweeted another.

'Here come the woke haters,' posted yet another. 

Earlier this year Ginnivan and Magpies teammate Isaac Quaynor were forced to apologise for taking part in an online trend of rating members of the opposite sex, with perceived negative traits attached.

It comes as Jeffrey Dahmer Halloween costume sales were banned for sale on eBay in the lead up to October 31. 

An eBay spokesperson told CBS MoneyWatch that selling Dahmer paraphernalia violates eBay's 'violence and violent criminals policy.'

Specifically, the policy prohibits listings that 'promote or glorify violence or violent acts, or are associated with individuals who are notorious for committing violent acts,' and is intended to promote safety while respecting victims of violent crimes.

Many US bars also outlawed Dahmer costumes - especially in LGBTQ+ bars in the serial killer's home town of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

'We understand there's a generation out there that did not live this situation. They may not understand the severity of how it affected the community,' D.I.X. Milwaukee manager Eric Hamilton said.

'We don't want to put patrons in the situation where they would have to see or relive something that they had to truly experience.'
