The real issues with Wrath of the Gods animation in my eyes.

No memes. No easy potshots.

To start with, I think that it would've benefited them if the split the 24 episodes production wise. One to be released at the start of a year and the other at the tail end of autumn. And yes, that includes the cliffhangers if only to drive up hype. Let them focus their efforts on one batch at a time before loosening up.

That said, it feels like the switch over to Studio Deen was a mighty hasty decision. A-1 Pictures likely had their reasons for backing out. Hell, it's immense restraint with how many studios are trying to put out more than what their workforce can reasonably manage.

Even then, I think what hurt the look of Season 3 was a lack of directional flair or problem solving tricks. A lot of shots often have the characters are distance, often contributing to the rather rough artstyle (you know the one, "Meguca" fans). This is compounded by the choice to linger on them, even when a shot is crowded.

There are times like when the Sins gather to hear Meliodas's explain the curse on him and Elizabeth where there are many shots that crowd in everybody into focus. It feels like we could close up on those speaking rather than trying to let it go on for so long.

Then there's where Chandler teleports into the Boar Hat and Diane, all giant and on the roof, vaults down to save Elizabeth and Mel. It's all an external shot that ends only when King comes in to help but it feels... weird. Like we should've seen Diane vault over the roof but then cut to her hand breaking in to grab her friends and the back to her outside making sure they're safe.

And this isn't an isolated incident. When Gilthunder goes in to embrace Margret, the Arkangel possessed princess walks past him as a real red flag. However, the shot starts with Gilthunder going off-screen towards Ludociel and has us here the cold passing-by off screen before he/she comes on-screen in the same frame. It feels like whatever was supposed to be edited in between wasn't done in time.

Something I think that could've justified them drawing the characters in less detail were comedic scenes. When the Sins are gathered and are overlooking Bartra, they could've shown the king's esasperation via exagerated expressions that Anime is often known for. Maybe get way cartoony with chibis.

It just feels like outside of the egrigious art work moments, the animation direction is... serviceable yet also biting off more than what they could chew. It ends up very "just do the bare minimum and shove out product as fast as you can" in a sort of cynicism.

That's the real issue with Studio Deen's approach to their run beyond what shot looks weird. And it feels like they wanted to later, in gaming terms, patch it with far more polished shots. Evidenced by how the season starts with censoring excessive blood for the TV broadcast.

It's a shame because Cursed By Light really afforded them the chance to well and truly cook as the kids say, flexing for what was the Seven Deadly Sins' grand finale. The CGi on the Supreme Diety was immaculate.

Sonic let’s put a shaky breathe watching as the lady of the lake comes closer. “King sonic. You’ve it seem fate has returned you to us” she smile gently her voice soft as it echo throw the woods that hide the lake.

Sonic fixes his quills. “I-I guess so” he stands and bows “it’s a pleasure to see you again my lady” the lady of the lake smiled and bowed back “the pleasure is mine. You were luck enough to land in the lake tho. You have an issue with falling out the sky” she tease pulling something from the water. Sonic chuckles “yeah I do. Maybe we need to bolt me to the ground” he smirks watching her. Soon she pull excalibur out. His tail wags as its hand to his and annoys the sword awake “hey hey hey guess who’s back~” excalibur wakes slightly angry and annoyed. He’s woken up “what. What- my king! You’ve returned!!” Sonic smirk’s more joy fills his eyes glad there happy to see him “ya miss me?”

A several hours of talking the lady of the lake speak up “come. Let us surprise the others. They are all together in Camelot. An alliance meeting I believe. They will be happy to see you.” Sonic’s tail wags “yes! I can’t wait!”

The lady of the lake gracefully walked out and to Sonic’s side. “Then let’s be off” she said as she took the lead, excalibur in Sonic’s hands as he followed. “Soooo~ what’s changed since I’ve last visited?” Sonic tilts his head, his ears flop to one side. “Many things my king, most of the other kingdoms are married to start” the lady of the lady smiled her jaded eyes focused forward. “Married? Whom? How dare they not invite me!” Sonic smirks as the lady of the lake giggles at his joke. “Let me see~ well, king mephilous married Galahad. After you freed him and his kingdom from stone he is forever in your debt, tho he wasn’t pleased to work with Lancelot after you left. But he visited a lot. Galahad showed him around and they started talking move and next thing you know they were married.” Sonic’s mouth fall open “Galahad and mephilous? You’re kidding.” The lady of the lake giggles again. “Nope” Sonic looks at her in shock “oh chaos. What about king scourge?” The lady of the lake smiled “married the rogue fleetway, fleetway wouldn’t leave the poor king along. Not even I know how they got together” Sonic snickered “now that. I can believe” the lady of the lake playfully roles her eyes “oh of course that’s believe able, let’s see miles became the first ‘mechanic’ as you call it. And has invented so many thing to help with the kingdom. Lancelot has also take to the throne like you asked. A bit of a rock start but he got the hang of it.” Sonic grins “that amazing!!” “Indeed it is my king” “ain’t lance the king now? You can drop it.” “No. You’re the king. Lancelot is your replacement for when you’re gone.” “I still feel like he’d make a better king than me.” “King sonic do have faith in yourself, the kingdom loves you, if anything everyone here, including Lancelot, you’d be more than happy to have you sit on the throne again” Sonic sighs “I suppose…” “don’t be so down my king.” Sonic smirks “can you at least just call me Sonic” the lady of the lake smirks back “and Miss the opportunity to drive you mad? No. I don’t think I will” Sonic groans playfully “your evil” the lady of the lake giggles “come my king, we’re almost there.”

Sonic follows, only to come over a hill and look out and see the one place he’s missed so dearly….

I was talking about a historical male author I dislike because I found his works misogynistic and the person said, "Oh, well I suppose you don't read Shakespeare either." and I was like, "Shakespeare? SHAKESPEARE?!?! Of course I read Shakespeare, that man loved women."

Shakespeare wrote a wide variety of fleshed out female characters. He wrote Damsels in Distress, Cross-dressing Girlbosses, and Complex Female Villains. He wrote a woman who refused to sell her virtue to save her family and then shamed her brother for suggesting it. He wrote Taming of the Shrew and it's opposite, All's Well that Ends Well, in which the wife hunts down and tames the husband. He wrote men who are good because they listen to, trust, and defend women. He wrote women of all kinds. He wrote women who drive the plot and women doomed by the narrative. He wrote women in love and women who pathetically follow a man who doesn't like them and women in hatred. He wrote sensible women and silly women and everything in between of all ages.

I wish modern authors could write women as well as he did.

So! City Spirts are basically God's sustained by the people in their Cities. Some are Gods born from the belief and people of a City, others are God's who Bind themselves to Cities to sustain themselves in periods of low worship.

Almost all Major Population Centers have some kind of City Spirit bound to them.

The Personification of Los Angeles who slept with Constantine was born from her City, but she was young and weak compared to other City Spirits.

Lady Gotham is an Ancient Spirit who holds immense Power, but purposefully bound herself to the new and growing city of Gotham so she could sleep for a few millenia without worrying about sustaining Worship. She has been asleep for Centuries.

Actually, most City Spirits are Asleep.

Millenia Ago, the most powerful Gods and Spirits of the Infinite Realms fled the Rule of Pariah Dark. They didn't agree with his ambitions to conquer the Living Realm, and didn't want to let him use their Power against the Living Realm either.

So they Bound themselves to newly forming Cities and put themselves into Deep Sleep to avoid his Control. They have been asleep for Millenia now, waiting for the day Pariah would be overthrown so they could return to the Infinite Realms safely.

Then they day came. A New King was Crowned.

And the Cities began to wake up.

It’s been two years. Two years since he save Camelot. Two year since he turned everyone back from stone. Two years since he left Lancelot in charge. And two years of pain. His friends started treating him like dirt shortly after his return. His friends ignore him and take his things. He’s left behind on multiple missions. Tails refused to treat his wounds.

So much was taken. The world keeps turning its back on the hero. Only to welcome him when he saves the day. He was so tired.

He was spirited one morning from a text from tails. His excitement skyrocketed only to crash when he saw it was just for a mission. He sighed and dragged himself out of bed and race to the locations. The tornado parked as knuckles and tail chat for a bit. Amy glares at him “you’re late.”

Sonic gives his fake cocky grin “sorry sleep in. Just saw the message”. Tails scoffs “of course what else did we expect”. Knuckles just shook his head disappointed. Sonic heart withers “sorry I’ll start turning up my phone” he tries to laugh in off. “Yeah. You should.” Amy said as she headed toward an old biulding. It looked like an old library. Broken windows and boarded up doors. The roof caving in.

“Are yall sure the last chaos emerald is here?” Sonic asked as he enters the place beside his team mates.

knuckles growls “ya doubting me now?” Sonic flinches at the aggressive tone “n-no of course not.”

“Okay! We need to split up” tails states as he looks over the library that looks as if it hold every book in the world.

Sonic hesitates knowing that eggman could be near “I don’t think that’s-“ Amy cuts him off “perfect! I’ll go left! Knuckles go with tails to the right and Sonic you do you or whatever” she dismisses him. He struggle to speak up before he sighs and starts walking toward the center of the library “why do I try”.

After a few minutes of searching he stops. He stairs at a book with gold lettering and a true dorky smile appears on his face “well well what do we have here~” he giggle to his self as he pick up the book and looks at it with longing. He smiles sadly looking at the book ‘king author and the knights of the round table’ “oh how I miss y’all.”

Something felt odd he opened the book and the book starts glowing and shaking. Sonic dropping the book and stepped back. His heart racing he felt himself getting sucked in. He panicked but is was to late. The book takes him in the pages and slams shut. The only thing that remains is his communicator.

Sonic screams as he falls through the sky. His heart jumping into his throat as he curls into a ball trying to protect him self

He lands harshly in cold water. He uncurls in panic as he start to sink deeper and deeper. Struggling to get to the surface. As he starts to black out two gentle hands helping him to shore. He cough and gasps for air.

Slowly he pulls him self together “t-thank you” he turns to see who saved him only for his breathe to hitch….

there is a lot of shit that fanfic authors have to deal with in this fandom and in general. it’s really difficult to put your work out there knowing some people are going to act like assholes. the people rating fics, people publicly talking shit about them, and the hateful and abusive comments on their stories all suck.

however…

sometimes i think fanfic authors crash out about things that are really not that bad and when i see it, it makes me feel embarrassed

like someone leaving a comment on your fic saying they enjoy it and “can’t wait to read more” is not them putting pressure on you. this person just likes your shit.

i’ve been in discord servers where getting this kind of comment will have tons of other writers going “ew! you should never updated again out of revenge!”

it’s gotten so bad that now half the comments i get on the golden king are people being like “i like it but no pressure, if you never write anything else or finish this story that’s okay! take care of yourself! actually ill just kill myself preemptively for even suggesting that i want more from you in the event that it MIGHT have upset you”
