Cindy Ali, a Toronto woman who was previously found guilty in the death of her daughter, has been acquitted in a retrial. Cheers and applause rang out in a packed Toronto courtroom Friday as Justice Jane Kelly handed down that decision. Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Ali said she was feeling a sense of relief now that her ordeal is done — but also that she hasn't yet had an opportunity to properly grieve for her daughter. "After today, it's going to be our time as a family to start healing and grieving — but not forgetting Cynara, because she's still here with me. She will always be with me, with us," she said.

Upholding Legal Rights: Gujarat High Court's Stance on Income Tax Department's Seizure
In a recent development at the Gujarat High Court, a division bench comprising Justices Bhargav Karia and Niral Mehta has taken a firm stance regarding the seizure of “non-incriminating” data from a lawyer’s office by the Income Tax department. Refusing to accept the department’s undertaking on sealing the data, the bench has decided to delve into the matter on its merits. The petition before…

Texas Gov. Abbott to Pardon Man Convicted of Murdering BLM Demonstrator
Tumblr media
KXAN NBC in Austin reports Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced he'll pardon convicted murderer Daniel Perry, who was just found guilty of shooting Black Lives Matter demonstrator Garret Foster during a July 2020 protest in Austin.  Witnesses say Perry deliberately dove his vehicle into the area where the protests were going on.  Keep in mind this occurred during a year when there were several incidents of people driving directly into protesters.  In addition, Texas is an open-carry state, and Foster, as well as some of the protesters, were armed, but Perry claimed Foster aimed an assault rifle at him.  This was contradicted by witnesses at the scene who say Foster never raised his rifle and never attempted to fire his weapon.  During the trial, prosecutors showed the jury text messages and social media communications where Daniel Perry talked about killing protesters in the weeks before the shooting.  One text read, "I might have to kill a few people on my way to work; they are rioting outside my apartment complex.”
Gee whiz, now ME wonders - had this been a KKK rally and a black driver had shot a Klansman under the same circumstances, would Governor Greg Abbott be pardoning him also?  Hell, why even bother with a judge and jury when you have good old Governor Abbott willing to take care of all of that by himself?  Why Texas don’t need no stinkin’ legal system.  By way of explanation, Gov. Abbott said he wants prosecutors to understand that Texas is “dead serious” about its “Stand Your Ground” laws.
Really, because it sure seems as if all this “Open-Carry” and “Stand Your Ground” stuff - only applies to certain white people. You know, like MAGA Republicans.  Of course, the truth is Daniel Perry lied, and Abbott knows it, but just doesn’t care.  What does he care if progressives are shot?  After all, Texas is a land where “cruelty and ignorance” are badges of honor - and Abbott plans to keep it that way!  Now, say what you will about “Black Lives Matter,” but this pardon makes it crystal clear Gov. Abbott believes they don’t.

Underworld Fighter/Bodyguard Danny
It had already been a few years since Danny, for his job, left Amity Park. Working as a bodyguard or fighter in a meta-arcade. His sponsor was Veronica Sinclair, also known as Roulette, as he fought in her arena against other metas or villains for money.
Since she built her new undeground arena, where metahumans can fight for money and similar things, they are forbidden to join normal competitions as it's "unfair" against normal humans.
I mean, it would be unfair to see Superman in a boxing ring against a normal human, but still.
Roulette doesn't need to capture heroes, as the meta fights out of their own free will, and she still earns a lot of money. Even a few politicians and others came to watch the fights. From CEOs, crime bosses, and even once, the Presidents of the World!
As a fighter for Roulette and her bodyguard, Danny has had around 400 fights since the very beginning of the arena and 0 losses.
His boss asked if he could work as a warden in Arkham Asylum for the Mayor of Gotham, as it had an important meeting for one month.
As being told by Veronica, Danny had no problem with it; his sister worked in Arkham, and his daughter Dani wanted to visit her. He could stay for one month, then take his vacation to visit Amity Park. And it's not the first time he worked as Bodyguard for someone else, he did work for few people like Lex Luthor or Pinguin. For Lex he got to a job as he thought against Parasite.
1 Month later
Batman wasn't sure what was happening; no villain had broken out in more than a month. And he didn't hear anything from the Joker.
He learned that because of a new Warden who already left Arkham, no one tried to escape. Someone who one-shot Solomon Grundy K.O. with a punch and put the Joker, Professor Pyg, and Victor Zsasz into a coma with a single uppercut to the stomach?
Gordon seemed to be very happy as he said that, but seem very sad that the Warden had left.
+ Danny smiled at Dani, as they were driving with Jazz to Amity Park. Still he didn't like the talk both were doing about boys. Dani is too young!
But it had been nice to meet Pinguin again, it was a long time he worked for him and Sofia Falcone too. Or Bane from the Arena, he thought he stopped being a Villains like Victor as it's paid well enough in the Arena.
Mr Freeze:" For Nora." he earns in 1 fight the same as he does as thief.
Danny is adult, around 28 years old or older.

Working Hard or Hardly Working (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
My monthly divider for the @aceattorneyplanner ! Just a normal afternoon at the office. Because this absolutely happens a lot.
[image id: afternoon at the Wright Law Offices. Phoenix is in the background singing whole heartedly in to a broom handle as if its a microphone. Athena is next to him standing on a desk, singing in to a fuzzy pen. Apollo is in the foreground on the couch, trying to read a paper and holding his head in annoyance. trucy is shoving him as she belts in to a hairbrush. There is a record player playing mucis on the shelf behind them all and a vinyl album sleeve for legally blonde the musical on the couch beside apollo. end id]

The most maddening class I took in law school was Wrongful Convictions, which went in-depth into
1. The coercive, abusive and purposefully misleading “interrogation” process for suspects
2. The pseudoscience of a number of forensic science categories used to convict people, including “signs a suspect is lying” and hair analysis; and
3. The nearly impossible challenge of freeing someone even when it is PROVEN that they are innocent
The American “justice” system is infinitely more fucked up than you can imagine. For every horrorshow act you get exposed to, there’s a very good chance you’ll be greeted with a “but wait! There’s more!”

Saw a post about the sex offender list that kept repeating, "police love to get minorities for X crime" and I realized, both people who supposedly oppose the system and the system itself very intentionally frame police and police discretion as a more powerful and unilateral part of the system that it actually is, while ignoring or obscuring the rest of the system.
The DA's office decides what cases to drop and what to move forward with, and what punishments to request. The judges decide to throw out cases or let them continue, and then use judicial discretion in handing down sentences. And so on, I am not a legal expert yet, but there's a whole chain of people more powerful than some beat cop who chose to pursue or drop cases.
This all seems very convenient for the DA, as nobody is rioting to abolish or defund their office.

Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, admits to spraying his cologne in the bathroom Amber Hears used during the trial to mess with her.
Odours have the known tendency to cause panic attacks and trigger flashbacks in people with PTSD. Camille Vasquez, who claims to stand for victims of abuse, weaponised a rape victim’s trauma to throw her off and scare her.
There is a special place in hell for people who protect abusers.
