I feel like my entire personality can accurately be described as taking every quirky interest anyone’s ever had/introduced to me and getting so into it that it ceases to be cool and starts being a problem.

Thought we needed a more Scottish version of David's now legendary shirt.
Specifically a Weegie* version.
So I made one!
Tumblr media
In case you're not familiar with Scots/Weegie:
Wains = children/kids
Alaine = alone
Wee = small/little
Gobshite = untranslatable insult
*For Americans and other aliens: 'weegie' is a word denoting a person from Glasgow. Shortened from Glaswegian. The Glaswegian accent and slang is renowned for its humour and warmth. The type of warmth you get from the single candle attempting valiantly to light your entire flat at 5pm on a dreich Winter's day.

November 2023 Book Rec
Fraternity by Andy Mientus
Queer, Historical YA (USA, 90s,)
Dark Academia vibes
Demons
Multiple POVs
Found family
Note: period typical homophobia/racism, bullying, AIDs crisis
In the fall of 1991, Zooey Orson transfers to the Blackfriars School for Boys hoping for a fresh start following a scandal at his last school. However, he quickly learns that he isn’t the only student keeping a secret. Before he knows it, he’s fallen in with a group of boys who all share the same secret, one which they can only express openly within the safety of the clandestine gatherings of the Vicious Circle – the covert club for gay students going back decades. But when the boys unwittingly happen upon the headmaster’s copy of an arcane occult text, they unleash an eldritch secret so terrible, it threatens to consume them all. A queer paranormal story set during the still-raging AIDS crisis, Fraternity examines a time not so long ago when a secret brotherhood lurked in the shadows. What would Zooey and his friends do to protect their found family?
TMT notes: It wasn't what I expected when I picked it up, but I loved it! It's a dark, unique book, lightened by the genuine-feeling connections and love between the main cast of complex characters. Despite the paranormal elements, it felt very real to me. The narrative voice is distinctive and rich. I personally had an amazing time from start to end :)

Also on my Instagram, this one is the fixed version because the art I posted there is where I forgot to put Dog Man's stitches. I won't remove it but enjoy!

It’s International Cat Day, so let's celebrate with these LGBTQ-inclusive board, picture, and middle-grade books involving our feline friends---including a brand-new board book with a two-mom family that's not "about" being a two-mom family! It's the cat's meow!

There is pretty much no intersex rep available. I’m not talking about not enough: it is almost impossible to find good, accurate intersex rep. Like I can find NONE. One of the biggest things I’m facing with going through my teenage years and being diagnosed as intersex is that there is almost no one I can relate to when it comes to puberty and growing up in media or around me, especially because my specific condition is pretty rare. It just feels so lonely. My perisex friends are supportive and stuff but they just can’t understand what it’s like because they don’t have that shared experience. I think especially intersex kids need books and rep to make sure we see people like us and to help us feel confident in our bodies and how we’re not broken. Pretty much the only rep I’ve seen so far isn’t great, and it’s usually aimed towards adult audiences.
Intersex people deserve representation. We deserve community.

Will anybody be interested if I made a list of adult transmasc and Nonbinary/transneutral main/major characters in adult fantasy and Science Books.
Because I'm legit sick of the infantilisation both within and outside the community. Why is so much of the NB and transmasc rep children 😭.
Even outside of the miniscule rep Even less of it are grown adult main characters. None of that side character's love interest is a trans dude business, or a they/them appears for one page and is never seen again.
Anyway I've got a handful of characters in books I've read/on my TBR and I want to share them with others looking for this kind of rep.

Bigots who burst a vessel over gay and trans people existing because it’s “not natural” are the funniest people on the planet because like. Babygirl the car you drive isn’t natural. The house you live in didn’t magically appear, it’s not natural. The phone you’re using to call people slurs on Twitter isn’t natural. If you need glasses to see, they’re not natural. If you have a job standing on your feet all day at Target, that’s not natural. This whole ✨marriage✨ thing you’re obsessed with protecting isn’t natural. 99% of things human beings have done for the last 5000 years or more aren’t “natural” so unless you want to go back to completely living like homo habilis I don’t want to hear shit about “natural”
