I’ve always understood why many people don’t like togafuka or dismiss it outright, and I don’t really take issue with this point of view. I obviously like them, but these are two characters with a lot of issues, and so the way they interact with eachother (or with anyone) is going to be bound up in all that until they change. Actually, in a way I think this is part of why I like the ship - it’s hard to see Byakuya interacting with, for example, Chihiro without feeling bad for Chihiro, and when Makoto is trying to befriend Byakuya I can tell it takes a lot out of him just to be around him, and I want to think Makoto deserves to spend time with someone who respects him more. But because Touko and Byakuya are both nasty people, having them spend time together is kind of like a quarantine, haha. We see in DR1 that both Touko and Byakuya often exclude themselves from the rest of the class, and so they end up “excluded together”

While I like Touko and Byakuya’s interactions during the killing game, the way they are during this period is clearly not conducive to an actual relationship. Even though they seem very different on the surface, however, I think they actually have a lot in common - having difficult childhoods, preferring a blunt way of speaking rather than delicacy, you know. As they change as people independently, I imagine that their relationship to eachother could change as they may begin to see eachother in a different light. I think Touko already sees and thinks of Byakuya a bit differently by DRAE, and as Byakuya becomes better at forming sincere connections with people (which he is incapable of in DR1) he may begin to admire things in her he previously dismissed. (<-this does not necessarily mean he has to return her feelings - they could just be friends, or two people who are otherwise mature enough to exist in eachother's lives without it being a problem. but i think its cooler if he wants to kiss her grossly) To be honest, I also just find them really funny. I like that Touko gets to be a funny female character, and I like that in their dynamic it reveals a bit of Byakuya's gap moe ignorance and he can get flustered. Its fun (and endearing in a mean way) to imagine them bonding over insulting and gossiping about the rest of the cast together.

I also find them to be aesthetically pleasing to draw together; I like the contrast in their designs and mannerisms, and independently they're both the kind of character I find fun to draw (Togami, being a cool, mean, princely guy and Fukawa being a loud, pathetic woman.) "They're my type" wouldn't be enough to explain why I've been obsessed with them for 7 years straight but they're also appealing to me in a way that is kind of obvious in my mind. It didn't take 'digging deep' to make me like them!

geto’s whole Thing is his contrast; he can kill a man swiftly, cruelly, only to go meet his beloved family right after with a genuine smile on his face. (we see that almost instantly in jjk 0!!) he really does have that cruel / soft contrast that i assume a bunch of yan content is built on…. he would treasure his beloved soooo dearly and i absolutely don’t think he’d shy away from killing any non-sorcerers that were giving them trouble… but again!! this isn’t even yan!geto, this is literally just Geto. that’s just how he is in canon 😭😭 he’s willing to go to any lenghts to protect his loved ones, and his own morals are aligned towards his view of non-sorcerers as non-human. he doesn’t see them as human, so why would he feel guilty for killing them?

but ok so to kinda go back to the idea of yan!geto… i think the biggest difference between him and yan!gojo (imo!!) is that gojo is willing to look past his morals to keep you safe, knowing that it’s Wrong but choosing not to care, while geto doesn’t let go of his morals — instead, he twists them until they align with what he’s doing. if that makes sense. to him, doing what he does for you is morally just. so he doesn’t feel shame or guilt for it.

aaaaand this is also why i don’t really feel Equipped to talk abt him….. because yan!geto would probably be a lot Worse than yan!gojo …….. and i’m embarrassingly sensitive to dark content :’3 i can see the appeal and the yan undertones are absolutely There but i think i see cult leader!geto in a very moe light PHJEHSJD he’s… my meowmeow. he can do no wrong. he hasn’t had a single evil thought in his Life <33

overall i see cult leader!geto as someone who hides his inherent softness behind a dark exterior, and while he’s far more willing to be cruel than hs suguru was, he never really changed at his core!! he’s just overflowing with softness and care. we see this so clearly in the scene where he’s alone with nanamimi, his girls, and everything is soft and quiet and geto is completely unguarded. and he’s so, so soft. his softness doesn’t even have a twisted hint to it, he just loves you. and he wants the best for you. i think the horror would only come from seeing how quickly he goes from cooing into your ear to disposing of a non-sorcerer with a freezing look in his eyes; the whiplash is scary. but if it scared his s/o i think he’d be hell-bent on not letting you see him like that unless absolutely necessary.

it’s difficult because so much of his character in this stage of his life has to do with cruelty, but all he truly wants at his core is to create a world where his loved ones will be happy :(( where he can protect them properly. idk i just can’t really see cult leader!geto as toxic at the end of the day….. he’s a puppydog to me. a foxcoded, silly little guy. despite his cult leader / genocide loving tendencies i think he would be a very soft, selfless lover <333 overwhelmingly devoted. the weight of his devotion could honestly be frightening and i feel like he could be sweet in a kind of twisted way (something like this) but at the end of the day he’s very particular about only showing you his soft side.

For the Malleus thing: it's overexposure on my answer. Malleus is a main staple character that has a lot of fans compared to say: Cater or Kalim. Of course, Octavinelle matches in turn for numbers with Malleus but Malleus also has a dedicated shipping fandom that are so attached to him that they cause... problems.

Shipping is fine in moderation but when I see enough people start fighting that this fictional character is "their" man and not someone else's OC, I know Malleus has had too much time in their head or something warped him. I like shopping and run a sort famous /Reader blog for all genders, and that gives me insight into who people kinda want on that side and Malleus is very famous. Shipping aside, Malleus also has such diehard fans that... they forget his CHARACTER!

Malleus' fandom is the same as Octavinelle (woobifying/creeps flooding in) and now bleeding in Savanaclaw (creeps flooding in/racism against dark skinned OC's): the story is revealing that Malleus isn't gap moe and is an actual character that can do wrong, and hurt people... and they HATE that. I've seen four people drop Malleus like a hat because he was didn't understand what he was doing wrong in the Dorm Uniform. Malleus has had a rigid set of understanding of creatures and it's very straightforward instead of nuanced, and even Malleus admits that he wants to try and projects that his advancement on human understanding will only take 100 years. That's fair considering he's been in the human world for 3 FREAKING YEARS, guys. I believe if we were given how long it took Lilia to understand a human customs outside of Silver experience, it'd not do anything to people's opinions. Because to them, it's not about him learning. He doesn't know so he's obviously a BAD CHARACTER, that must be it! "He's a jerk and now I'm going to do a 180° on my own Malleus opinion that is all over my blog and gave my followers whiplash, starting a bashing war by actually not doing a proper review of his character!" No. That's unfair. Why?

Malleus is an interesting character and I'm so sad that he's gone so far into the fandom that he's been woobified and there is no self warn anything: no disclaimer that this is a more romantic Malleus compared to the canon one, or people admitting that Malleus might be OOC as his character reads so incomplete because they write him so... wrong? I think my real problem is the tail end of fandoms that radicalize and throw Malleus around as something he isn't, and that's okay to a certain degree (my /Reader blog acknowledged that Malleus is a canon as I can do without just being Readers buddy, which he's more likely to be in canon). It's just... people are too radical, I think.

I fear the wars this man will create when Chapter 7, Part 3 shows he's got more flaws then he does. I can see a Rook Chapter 5 happening. :(

But I'm not all pessimistic, I know the right fandom should be encouraged and the minority should be ignored, so I know whatever Yana/Aniplex gives us: I support. I know common artists, writer's, editors are all doing fine and I interact normally, but I hate the "drop him" culture these games have in the EN side.

Malleus by himself is an interesting character in his own right, without needing to be steeped in fanon.

I do think that because he was left to stew on his own with pieces of content to hold Mallelikers over, people ended up turning him into their own character to fit their own needs.

And in some ways it's kinda meta because that was something he was trying to escape his whole life so that he could be welcomed by those around him.

I'm usually not as steeped in the fandom as I used to be what w college and stuff creeping up but I'm genuinely sorry that everyone has experienced some form of harassment from both sides of the fence bc one hc didn't fit the other's or the argument of whether his character is good enough or not.

It's disheartening to see others get jumped because of how strongly they feel towards a character and its horrible that you have to endure that on your page anon.

I'm honestly praying Malleus doesn't go through what Rook went thru because that moment is still be felt to this day due to how decisive it was 😭😭😭.

And it's funny bc Rook not choosing Vil was supposed to give Vil growth, who was so hard pressed on winning to the point that he'd contemplated killing his opponent and subsequently Overblotted. The point was that Vil wasn't supposed to win because it'd feed into him. It was a lesson.

With Malleus' Dorm Vignette, I'd argue that him summoning the other dorm leaders was a long time coming considering they weren't doing any affirmative actions to ensure that Malleus could attend. He brought them to him because it was the only thing he could think of; he's not good with technology, time is a construct to him, and no student is willing to approach him for the fun of it unless it's to get smth out of it. It was mostly an act of burning the village to feel its warmth tho it wasn't out of malicious intent.

In the end I can reason he was still partially wrong, he only considered brainstorming with Lilia [and Lilia, a jokester that he is, encouraged him.] Instead of talking to Crowley.

But I do think that Malleus being the poster boy has led to him being so oversaturated in the fandom that a lot of his personality is lost in translation once more.

I liken it to Ace Trappola. Fanon!Ace played up his worst traits to the max without allowing the nuance of his character growth to shine thru. Luckily, Ace is in the recovery period but the same cannot be said for Floyd 😭😭😭.

My most basic observation is that popularity takes the nuance out of characters and I'm hoping against hope that Chapter 7 shows a new side of Malleus that sets the record straight bc as someone who loves character studies watching Malleus get chopped and screwed is 🥶🥶🥶.

for Hazamada, it's Happy ni Naritai (ハッピーになりたい) by Nanawo Akari and Boring Life (マンネリライフ), also by Nanawo Akari. both songs talk about solitary, sloppy characters living boring/nasty lifes. Hazamada fits SOOOOO much with those! (content warning for happy ni naritai: it shows suicide scenes such as the main character hanging herself).

for Sakuya, it's Bloody Devotion by Akatsuki Records (and one of my favorite songs from this circle!) and Now, Become the Arrow Tearing the Night by AbsoЯute Zero. now... oh god i think i must rant about this.

look, i just LOVE this both songs. yes they are made specifically for Sakuya, as you know most Touhou songs are based in one or more character theme songs. and oh my god. i just ADORE how those two portray Sakuya. i like how the first one portrays her as someone threatening, who would kill especially for her mistress. and the second one shows Sakuya in a more serious manner, in her loyal, cold way, still being faithful for Remilia. oh my god i love when Sakuya is portrayed like that instead of the typical "moe girl who's often just seen as female dio/pad jokes".

Hazamada loves touching, but doesn't like being touched. he's kind of a pervert, so in the beginning his love language was touching me in more than a romantic way, but when i tried he would feel kinda uncomfortable. i always let him touch me, hug me, kiss me, because it makes him more comfortable. after some weeks being lovers, he actually let me touch him, so i started doing the same: giving kisses, hugs. that's how i like to show my love, giving him the most of affection that other people are too stupid to give to him. if most girls hate him, well, fuck them because that means i can give more love. i love my silly little incel boy <3

as for Sakuya, her main love language are roses. Scarlet Devil Mansion is full of flower gardens (although is Meiling who mainly takes care of them), and Sakuya enjoys giving me some roses. most are red, but she knows how i also love white and blue roses so she made sure to get those for me. Sakuya also told me she got a hobby for botanic after that, and Meiling helps her a lot!

well, Hazamada told me he's very much a fan of fall, he says it's not too cold, but also not too hot, the perfect balance. and honestly it's my favorite season too! i just love how the landscape changes to brown, not a very strong tone of brown, but a very comforting one, mixed with red and orange - and it's also the time of my favorite holiday: Halloween! we both love this season, and it's the best time to relax outside with him, we sit on the benches and look at the town in autumn season, it makes me want to kiss him more...

(although... we don't have much variation of seasons here in Brazil... and Halloween is not popular here too... people here are too religious and see Halloween as a demonic thing...)

Sakuya, however is more fond of winter and spring. Winter is cold, yet calm in her opinion – probably the worst thing winter can have is the fairies being annoying or *cough cough* a ghost girl stealing spring season *cough cough* – it's not too hot, the ground, despite cold, gets a lot more fluffy. and i told Sakuya how i love her winter maid uniform along with that scarf... aa for spring, she grew a liking for it after she started to give me roses. not much to say about it. she also likes the cherry blossoms falling from the tress in some areas of Gensokyo.

I think so far it’s done a great job of showing us many sides of Geralt. The cute, emotional, Just Some Old Guy elements. I love how soft and relaxed and talkative he gets around Triss and Yenn. I also hate him for this stupid love triangle bc they’re both wonderful women

Ever since I was a teenager tho I loved how beautiful Yenn was so im still loyal to her lol. (But this game made me like Triss a lot more than before gotta say). Revisiting the Yenn vs Triss discourse of ages past, and confronting how Yenn really is… well honestly it’s created a lot of conflict in me. Her brashness DOES make ME uncomfortable.

I also really like the married couple dynamic Geralt/Yenn have. They have a different sort of intimacy and familiarity with each other (sometimes very goofy). I just love that they know everything about each other. And I like that Geralt can be the more patient one compared to her. I know that you can object to her like… attitude that she’s entitled to do whatever she wants, but at the same time - she always has a strong purpose for it even if the way she goes about it is uncomfortable. So I kinda see the disagreements you can make Geralt & Yenn have as just. Marriage spats LOL. Because the next moment they’re all over each other again, and Geralt just complains too much BRO JUST LET HER READ UR MIND LMAO.

Also I’m kind of obsessed with the way Geralt swoons over her despite her extending and retracting her affection 🧍and I can feel Yenn similarly cannot help but be into him. THE HOPELESSNESS (induced by the last wish? Idk I know that’s like choice based too I think) IS DELICIOUS

BUT… they really made a strong case for Triss/Geralt because of how extremely adorable they are. They feel really youthful I guess. I love that they’re like the best friends kind of love. Which makes me kinda lean into them just being best friends. But they’re so cute. It actually really made me feel torn between the girlies.

And generally, I think so far this game is really good at making me actually think a lot about the social consequences of my choices. They really play into the players emotional kneejerk reactions (the amount of times they give you the option to let Geralt get mad at a rando talking shit about his friends/girl best friends. Me as the player yeah ofc I’m annoyed too - but it’s just not useful to blow up at some random rude guy) and I just think it’s really clever.

And I think… generally… they really pumped Feminism and Loving Women into this game. The misogyny was REAL back then LMAO 💀 it definitely reflects the shifting social dynamics and expectations in video games of the time it released. And LGBT people are real (and not a joke) as well which is crazy

well I think the writing around all this holds up alright to this day so far. They somehow made Geralt’s reaction to it all a perfect representation of an old straight cis guy who’s encountering Concepts Outside of Normative Society for the first time but he’s like chill about it. I chose Mithra as my starting character and i have been obsessed with him. Of course while watching mahosute i came to really like his actor! i call him ayu san, ayukawa san, or ayu. people tend to call him Taiyou kun or just Taiyou. how i write his name depends on my mood and sometimes i get affected by how the people who interact with him call him. but yeah! him!

Yuri Lowell is Autistic

yuri lowell, as you may have noticed, has a problem with tone. he doesnt speak monotone but the way he talks is very flat.

hes got problems with expressing emotion. severely. estelle calls him out on this while knowing him less than a week . well however time passes in vesperia its not long enough

he doesnt really express emotions physically (calm, straightfaced, gap moe) or verbally (blunt, flat tone, embarrassed) very well. those are pretty obvious autism symptoms.

another thing in his speech is, in this world with known politeness markers, he forgoes them for people both older and younger than him, for people with more or less power than him, etc etc. hes also antiauthority and has no respect for the elderly cuz hes also a Cool Guy(tm) but the fact he treats a bunch of kids the way he treats adults like he respects and through actions (which speak louder than his words) hes very... nobody is less or more than him... and it is a lack of respect for higher-ups but having that lack and speaking to everyone exactly the same.... autism

[emotionality and depth are different than style, in which cases flynn is special because yuri talks to flynn incredibly differently than he talks to Literally Anyone Else because he and flynns are actually equals in a way nobody else is to him]

theres also several points where yuri is shown to be oblivious to how he comes across and what people are saying like:

when he turns towards estelles door in the castle i genuinely have no idea  what hes doing (because trying to peek is incongruent to his character) so im counting it

grabbing estelles wrist to check her blastia and sounding confused when she tears it away

in first strike (which you literally shouldnt watch) the captain makes a boob joke and yuri is absolutely 100% clueless as to what it means

theres lots of other moments but theyre deeper in the game. hes not... that good with people but hes REALLY good with people. he doesnt understand when he does something kinda weird until hes called on it and he does apologize for it. but when people are having their own emotions even when hes all I'm Cool And Unaffected he genuinely really cares and empathizes with them even if the way he does it is blunt and harsh sometimes hes not fond of beating around the bush because its much clearer to get right to the point

theres also the fact yuri wears clothes for comfort exclusively. the skit where hes outed as wearing whatever he wants for comfort also shows he doesnt care/know about social norms bc hes walking around in post-bath attire. this is the costume

sayyy... helping someone. swordplay. fighting in general. he puts his 110% into it. he goes above and beyond. he is a genius with a sword and can learn artes just by watching, as opposed to other examples in canon of people (like, say, karol) learning artes in multiple mini events you have to do over and over, simulating real night by night training

rita and flynn, two other autistic icons, can also do this

rita ofc with magic artes but still.

and he has a REALLY good long-term memory, which is indicative of both autism and adhd, ESPECIALLY for things he cares about. like plot points, or the exact words flynn said when they were 9 and he almost drowned in a river - including tone of voice (and a really good imitation of flynns voice as he said it) (pointing that out cuz its really funny and also there's literally nobody he couldve told because everyone he could have told before would have seen it happen so he just kept it perfectly in his memory for years)

aside from those hes extremely impulsive even if he thinks something through he'll act on it without warning and usually the story/bv stops him... sometimes it doesnt.

he does also deal with social withdrawal at the beginning of the game despite being surrounded by the lq who does love him dearly (even though - ESPECIALLY bc - he doesn't seem to understand that they do) and he really does only have one actual friend at the start

also his intense focus on one individual thing/task at once which ties into doing his absolute best over the things he likes like swordplay, fighting, helping people, cooking/baking... he gets sidetracked from helping people only because he is helping more people at the moment. hes out to get the aque blastia, finds estelle, helps her find flynn, helps karol with the tree, etc etc

noticing little details others wouldnt, especially as someone with absolutely 0 background in the thing in question - this is hidden by most of the party being special in the way this specifically refers to and minimizes the fact yuri does not have the specialty/knowledge they do about the subject and should not have noticed

this is about noticing estelle is not using her blastia but she can still use artes - rita notices because she has a proficiency in blastia, raven and judith already know. yuri should not know or notice this, but he does.

also having talks about empathy towards humans with rita because neither of them are good with it and in fact ritas Thing is that she starts out without very much of it at all. just because its more comfortable to think of humans in a certain way doesnt mean it isnt dehumanizing, so dont do it. do not treat people like things. they are people.

this is about ritas problem with people and preferring blastia to people

yuri doesnt want rita to see estelle as just a blastia to analyze like shes basically entirely doing right now bc he DID instantly adopt estelle and not rita (though this will change). he does not say "Good." in japanese, though. ive wondered. it jst makes him sound like an asshole insulting a 15 y/o but its just Honest. bc ritas not honest. yuris at least honest enough to admit that they're alike like that.

i know its also like.. oh hes poor his clothes are probably all frayed.... but... he doesnt have to be picking at it for that to be evident. and also that just shows the fabric is probably very soft because its old and worn out. comfort. bam.

I'm really bad at judging what's mild versus severe when it comes to gore/blood bc I tend to underestimate, I think this is kinda severe? Let me know which it is actually pls so I have a better idea for the future ---------------------------------------- I mentioned a while back in the corpse disposal post and murder methods post that Razor can be... Brutal to say the least, but to expand more on the concept I feel like there's a big potential for a sort of gap moe with him, a duality that seems to contradict itself. Because in many ways he's a sweetheart, always trying to find things to make you happy, often smiling with those wide, excited eyes, physically affectionate with nuzzles and the like. But the other side of that, he's not actually aware of how... desensitized he is. You notice it early on and it catches you off guard a bit the first time it happens. Some poor little animal you two see struggling, like a bird stuck in a tree, and you urge him to go get it and he nods and says ok. Grabs it, and just as you're about to thank him and let it go you hear its little bones snap under the crush of his grip with a final pained chirp. There, he got it, see? Now you two can eat it together. That was why you wanted him to grab it right? To kill it? Why else? He looks down and realizes oh, it's still twitching, so he reached a hand up and twists its neck. There, now it's dead, he says with a beaming smile. But it falls and he tilts his head when he sees the shocked look on your face. What's wrong? Why are you so upset? You soon learn a lot of the animals don't... die immediately. The little things the wolves drag back are still kicking and struggling, still making noises as they tear into them to devour. It makes you sick to your stomach when you witness it, tears come to your eyes. He knows you don't like it and warns you, but... he doesn't understand why? Why does it upset you like that? He doesn't get it. It's a gnawing awareness in the back of your mind. You start to pick up on his... lack of reactions to certain things. You were once in the church getting healing for a minor wound of his when another group of adventurers came rushing through the doors, desperately begging for help for their friend they were carrying... some guy seriously injured, gored by a boar. The sight is burned in your mind forever, the organs spilling out of his split gut, the shivering and wide, bloodshot eyes, the blood bubbling out of his mouth with choked horrific groans and the way his body convulsed involuntarily. The most horrid thing you'd ever seen. And you were pretty certain it was that way for everyone. Everyone in the church was gasping, some people were retching and trying to hold back sickness, people ran out of the room as they were unable to handle the scene, tears were in everyone's eyes, and as the man wailed in agony from them setting his dislocated bones, you watched the bystanders cringe and wince. Every person in the vicinity was visibly horrified.... except for one. Razor's face was neutral. Curious. He leaned in closer to get a better look, eyebrows raised. He doesn't flinch at the sight of organs spilling onto the ground and the man starting to convulse and foam at the mouth as his eyes roll back into his head. And then, after a moment, he asks if you're ready to leave, says he feels better now and that man is really loud, he doesn't like it. His voice doesn't even have the slightest hint of a wavering or discomfort. When you come across a man in the woods caught in a bear trap, you can barely stand to look at it. Just hearing the cries for help had you shivering, and the sight of the pooling blood and utter agony on the man's face had you gasping, hand over your mouth as you tried to look away. ...Razor didn't seem to mind, though. He just undoes the trap and, without giving the man any warning, yanks it apart, pulling the spikes from his legs. As he does, blood shoots out and splatters on his face. He doesn't flinch, nor when the man screams. He does finally seem to react to the pained groans the man makes. But... It's not like your reactions. He's not flinching and grimacing, drawing in sharp breaths and tensing up, eyes watering in pity and shock like you. Instead, his eyes narrow and he puts his hands over his ears as you stoop down to help the poor man. His eyebrows furrow. He almost looks... Annoyed. He draws his foot back as if he's about to kick him, but freezes with realization when he looks at you, as if he forgot you were standing there, and puts his foot back down. You're certain he wasn't actually going to do that, of course. You're not sure why he did that, but... He wouldn't do something like that, even in a moment of dissociation from his human awareness. He does volunteer to be the one to go get help, though, getting away fast, but for some reason you sense it was more out of irritation at the noise rather than horror at the whole thing. Perhaps the worst was the decomposing body, that day you took a walk in the woods together. He smelled it first, nose wrinkling up in disgust at the putrid smell. But it was strong enough that you smelled it soon after. He says having dead animals this close to the residence of the pack is not good, they all hate the smell, so he can try to move the carcass of whatever animal it is... but it's not an animal, it turns out, once you finally find the source, collapsed at the bottom of a cliff from where they most likely fell to their death. Well, it's kind of a stretch to say it still resembles a human either, but you can tell from the general shape. It's more just like a glob, putrefied and rotting flesh falling off the bones. It shocks you so much you fall backwards, but he just moves closer. Ugh, too far rotted to move, he can't do anything about it, he realizes as he gives the decaying mass a kick and watches the blackened flesh slide off the bones. Oh well. ...In your shock, it takes you a moment to realize how... unbothered he seems. Mildly annoyed by the smell, but his expression is neutral as he looks at one of the most horrifying sights you've ever seen, he just yawns as he walks away from it and says you two should get away from the smell, it makes his head hurt.

The events all linger in the back of your head. A growing sense of wrongness, a dark, cold dread that settles in your stomach as the occurrences slowly grow in number, one after the other, each time you notice the complete lack of any sign of disturbance on his face, in his voice or body language. You ask him once, one time when you get the courage to ask such a... potentially offensive question. Don't you... feel anything when you see things dying? When they're in pain? He nods. He gets what you mean. The feeling when you watch something die. Hungry, right? Oh, no? Maybe you mean the irritation, a kind of angry feeling, what's the word... impatient...? Because the thing is taking too long to die and he wants it to go ahead and die already. Or maybe you mean like when that man was injured? When something is dying but it's not something you wanna eat? Yeah, he has a feeling then too. Um... kind of like anger... you taught him the word once... annoyed? They make so much noise, and he doesn't like loud things. When that man came into the church... he didn't like how loud it was. Why didn't they just kill him, since he was making so much noise...? He doesn't get it. When things annoy him, he kills them, like loud birds and biting bugs. He kinda had an urge to just... reach out and make the man stop screaming, just twist his neck like he does small animals when they make too much noise. But he's smart, he says, he knows the other people might get mad. Yes, he uses the word "might," not "would," as if it was a mere possibility. So it doesn't really come as a surprise when the same attitude applies to the people at his own mercy, the people that get too close to you and end up dragged out to the woods. It's that same knowing dread in your gut, and while it horrifies you as much as it always has, you wouldn't have expected anything else. Maybe some people would feel bad about what they're doing, they would want to go ahead and get it over with, they couldn't take the begging and agony the other party is in... but not only is he totally unbothered, but if he kills him now, he says, the blood will go all over the ground, and that's bad, his lupical like eating the blood in things. So he just snaps the man's bones, that way he won't run away. It's hard to describe the excruciated noises that come out of the other's throat when he does. It's unlike any noise you've ever heard a human make, that kind of pain. The sweat that pours from the other's skin from the agony, the way his mouth hangs open even when he can't scream anymore, the trembling and muffled begging as he moves to the next limb. You tremble and cry. You shiver uncontrollably, you whimper for him to stop. Your eyes widen when he grabs each limb and you close your eyes and sob and grimace and cringe with the snapping sound. Razor, on the other hand, stays just as neutral as before. Face blank and empty, as if performing any other mundane task. He doesn't flinch at the snapping. His expression is unchanging at the sound of screams and the groans as he drags the still-living figure behind him by his shattered ankle all the way back home. When he finally goes to look back at you, he tilts his head at the look on your face. Why do you still look upset? There's no blood yet... isn't it blood that makes you upset? Maybe not? Maybe it's the sound that bothers you? Yeah, you flinch whenever the man groans in pain, so it must be the sounds of the dying things that you don't like, it annoys him too really. Ok, that can be fixed... sound comes from the throat right? Well, he left his claymore a ways away so, it'll just take a second, the guy is thrashing a bit but eventually he holds him still enough to get his teeth latched around his throat and just... bites down. The sound is a squelching, crunching sound, one that you'll never forget, it makes every hair on your body stand on end and your skin crawl. He pulls back with the mass of bleeding flesh and tracheal tissue in his jaws and spits it out on the ground. There, see...? You can see the blood on his teeth reflecting the light as he smiles. He's not making noises anymore, so... why do you still have that look on your face? Is it because the body on the ground is all... spasming and convulsing like that? Well, uh... that'll stop soon, probably. At least it's nice and quiet now. He gets it, really, he doesn't like loud noises either.

↳ I could see Sakazuki and his sister being sooo at odds most of the time, but weirdly in sync on the battlefield. He likely outranks her since he's an admiral, but I imagine she wouldn't be too far behind him. She's always on the same page, always knowing what his orders will be before he even voices them. I can see her keeping up a mutual respect with her brother by still dutifully completing their missions; even while she's joking around the whole time, she gets the job done. Cleanly.

↳ She can totally crack the whip on their subordinates, too– the authority she commands is made a little heavier by her brother's name, of course, but it's also one entirely her own. She has her stern/scary side, but she's definitely warmer and more approachable than him. I could see her taking on a role where she sort bridges that gap between Sakazuki and their fellow marines.

↳ On a more serious note... We don’t have a backstory on him (yet - I hope) but I always imagined that his incredibly black-and-white view of justice was shaped by some formative, possibly traumatic experience when he was younger. As a child, I could see Sakazuki admiring/liking her quite a bit, up until that point. I feel like he’d think she wasn’t taking his plight– their duty as marines to enforce justice– seriously.

↳ So Sakazuki is always scolding her, always telling her to “drop the act & get serious already” because he knows what she’s capable of. He does mean that genuinely, but she pulls a lot of the weight keeping things more light-hearted. The tension really doesn't rise unless she's actively screwing things up or holding things back from an important goal.

↳ Idk why, but I feel like sometime around the aforementioned point in his life, Sakazuki would have unconsciously stopped holding blood relation as inherently more important that choice relations. In that sense, he may only continue feeling a sense of loyalty toward his sister so long as she stays on the same path as him.

↳ Because surely from her past actions, he knows that she has his back, and he knows that he's better off because of it. (Does he ever tell her that? Nah. But she probably gets it... I feel like they'd have that silent-understanding type of relationship)

↳ But I'm a little hesitant on how far Sakazuki will have her back in return. We haven't seen anything from him yet to make me think that he'd value a personal relationship over his duty. I could actually see him disowning someone close to him should he decide they're morally wrong. (Doing so would hurt him, but only privately, and maybe only after the fact.)

↳ And even if they butt heads a lot, or even if he never expresses it, I do feel like he would be quite attached to his sister deep down (especially now that they're both far into their adulthood and their dynamic has likely become less volatile than when they were kids/teens). Sakazuki naturally doesn’t want to look down on her, but he will if her philosophy & reasons for fighting are severely out of line in his eyes. We love the friction don't we

This probably wont happen but I kinda like the idea of Mor being plus sized. In the books she is known for being beautiful, not insecure about showing skin and gets a lot of attention. I’d love to see a plus sized woman own this role and make it theirs. I also feel like SJM will just make her lesbian since her explanation of coming out as bi rubbed people the wrong way. I’m not part of the lgbtq+ so I’m not sure what was wrong with the coming out story but I still want peoples representation done correctly 😁

The bat boys race and ethnicity is definitely going to be interesting to cast. Lots of people want the illyrians to be Middle Eastern but personally I want acotar courts and fae to be all types of ethnicities and not have each court to be known for one particular race.

The illyrians are also known for being brutish, sexist and animalistic so casting poc for these “lesser fae” (even calling them that is problematic) will probably cause a lot of conversation (especially for people who haven’t read the books) then pairing them with white women who have human hearts. I’m a black girl and since I’ve read the books I wouldn’t be that bothered but if I’m going into the show with no context I will definitely be annoyed.

I’m also not ready to restart the nesta hate train

I am not entirely sure to be honest, I am most worried about casting for sure, it is my main one. Because I find it hard enough to think of anyone who would fit a lot of them... I just can’t see them getting it right but I want to hope for the best.

I agree I need Amren to be Asian and casted as so!

I too don’t see it for Moe, though I would love the idea of a plus size character more just because if they follow the whole “fae metabolism” they could easily claim so to avoid doing it. Unfortunately. I truly would hope for it but considering S&B casting and how they couldn’t even really make a canon plus size character (not how I pictured at least) as one I have doubts... 

I suppose all we can do is hope for the best in all regards.

As for the bat boys I truly hope they follow the books, sure we don’t have a race per say but it always stated they are tanned so making them anything less than that would be upsetting. I wonder how they would make Rhys paler during UTM, maybe they will just overlooking it making him tanned the whole time, that would probably be my preference.

I definitely can see what you mean about those things could easily come across and problematic especially as a outside viewer... I wonder how they will handle it. Will they re-write those facts or simply gloss over them, hmm...

Overall I want to be optimistic and hope the will be considerate of all but if we go off other adaptations I don’t think it is abnormal to be worried about casting. For me, a lot of the times the actors will never be what we hope because they are all described as unnaturally beautiful and perfect and thats not... well, normal. 

I hope if SJM is somewhat involved she will paint a clear picture of her characters! ❤
