i love the end actually it's so so fascinating

just thinking about how it immediately introduces itself as the arbiter of order.... it being a representation of death, its goal being to instill "peace" by annihilating all life....

like. ok. if it is "order", is "death", then that would mean chaos is life, right? its antithesis. the emeralds. sources of great catastrophes, but also grand miracles. they are equal parts beautiful and terrifying. they are life. life is messy, is painful, is unpredictable, it evolves and changes and grows. death is nothingness. the absence of all sensation, of all emotion. stagnation. none of the bad, but at the cost of all of the good. technically, "peace".

the end refers to itself as one of the living. i think, if it were to succeed in wiping out all life, it would then willingly destroy itself. it wholly believes in what it says. it isn't evil for the sake of being evil, from its perspective it's a saviour. doing what it sees as "necessary".

i don’t know if i’m ever gonna write the fic but i’ve been thinking abt like. the eternal stockade. the implications. lup, a lich who was trapped in a dark featureless cell for a decade completely isolated with nothing to keep her sanity but her own mind. she has to put people in the eternal stockade. how many liches does she see herself in. how many liches started out just like her. how many liches are truly too far gone. and the only liches we ever see other than her and barry are edward and lydia. they’re certainly evil, but mad? they seem pretty sane. they’re not, like, tattered echoes of souls, they’re definitely still people. even as much of a grudge as lup surely has against them, wouldn’t they remind her incredibly strongly of herself? do they deserve to be trapped just like she was? for eternity? isn’t eternity what turned john to existential despair in the first place?

The thing I find so difficult about fanart is that so much of it revolves around drawing people and I am just not that good at that. Here the face paints helped me a lot but I’m still not sure how it went. I’ve also somewhat accepted that my ADHD brain prevents me from creating pieces that can’t be finished in one sitting and therefore better quality drawing is quite far out of my reach.
