not trying to complain cuz i dont expect some people to know since i dont think they explicitly said it in the streams but smoshblr (from what ive seen) being pretty good about no share of videos and pics from the paid show with DnP fans fully clipping and giffing their parts and tagging it on the main is lowkey wild. I saw a comment being like "omg yes, i was wondering why no one was giffing or posting the video last night" like yeah besties, the girlies who get it get it

ok the stick story is this
according to The Hockey Media, who as we know do not actually follow any teams closely so know NOTHING, ovechkin was finally hit by father time. he's finally slowing down. he's a shell of his old self. he has old man syndrome. blah blah blah
as a caps fan, i know that this is false, because our russian machine never break. he's a freak. who btw had like 13 goals disallowed or something crazy like that in the first half of last season but i digress
gee i wonder why ovechkin's goals went down? is it because his longtime center and future hall of famer nicklas backstrom retired in all but name? is it because our other top 6 center in evgeny kuznetsov had by far the worst season of his career (from point a game to not even half a point a game) and then went into the player's assistance program before being traded to the canes and then bolting for the KHL?
actually, as it turns out: no.
i mean probably those were factors, but there was another factor. a factor that many caps fans are very aware of but almost no one reported on for some reason (probably because they were too busy writing about how SiDneY CrOsBy was having SuCh an AmaZiNg season for a 36 year old despite ovechkin literally having just as a good a season the year prior at the *checks notes* age of 36. also this is a reminder that one of those two actually led their team to a playoff berth and it wasn't crosby)
ovechkin is, among other things, an elite shooter. like many elite shooters, he is EXTREMELY picky about his sticks. he has been using the same CCM model for the last 7 seasons...and prior to this season they discontinued it.
the first half of the season (roughly), ovi was constantly trying out new sticks from CCM, from Bauer, whoever. he tried quite a few different sticks. results: 8 goals in 43 games.
then, ovechkin found an independent supplier. apparently (i can't remember where this info came out, maybe 32 thoughts?), these guys have an "ovi pro curve" model based on his old stick with CCM and he bought it and tried it out. curve was identical, and it felt right to him. started using those. results: 23 goals in 36 games.
am i saying that he is going to continue on that pace this coming season? probably not. do i think that the rumors of his demise as a goal scorer are greatly exaggerated and almost surely mistaken? yes. am i optimistic that with some stability in our center depth and stability in stick choice, ovechkin will have a 40 goal season again and possibly break wayne gretzky's all time goals record? YES.
what this means for PLD our beloved failhorse wife: he's not getting some washed up old man former great on his wing. he's getting the greatest fucking goal scorer in the history of the sport. and i, for one, am excited to see what they can do together.
link i thought about this all morning during baking and while i was out!! thank you for the stick explanation and all the sources i LOVE citations i am eating them up like theyre cakes at teatime....! more under the cut but heres what i was thinking about when i read this:
Tumblr media
thinking about how,, particular some players get about their equipment, how superstitious, it's crazy to me that a manufacturer can just do all that. if it were me and MYE special stick got discontinued id be suing for damages
i was super interested in what actually changed in the second half of the season because i saw ovechkin was back to scoring basically at-will again, so really thank you for explaining.. the bond between a hockey and their stick is so beaugtiful <3
cr-sby is my babygirl-in-law and i fear i will always be fond of him because of this, so i shall tread carefully here (pens friends look away) it DOES suck that they're not recognising your old man for his achievements while that old man gets hyped. is it like, weird anti-russian sentiment? or a more general anti-caps bias? every team fan space i dip into feels unfairly maligned one way or another - which, yeah! clenching my fist of rage.......
you spin such a tale and im VERY excited to see how next szn shakes out in light of all this and also . grabbing dubois by the scruff of his neck like i will stan either way but PLEASE dont embarrass me in front of my cool new friends kjlasdklasdkl....
thank you so much for stopping by and for the warmest welcome ever <3

Nimona OC - Charlotte Swiftheart/Corova
Back in my dorm! I literally returned, unpacked my stuff, hung up Christmas lights, ate jello, and then watched Nimona and Across the Spiderverse back to back until 2 AM. And then I wrote this.
Yes, I'm having a great time, thank you. Enjoy!
First, Previous, Next
Charlotte waits for Nimona to finish eating her pie, taking the time to collect what she's going to say.
"I don't like that look," Nimona says. Charlotte huffs slightly, smiling a bit.
"I'm just trying to figure out what to say first," she says, looking over at Nimona. Nimona hums, then gestures vaguely in the direction Ballister went.
"Why does he care about the Institute so much?" she asks. Charlotte purses her lips for a moment, looking away again.
"You know the knight that cut off Bal's arm? Goldenloin?" she asks. Nimona perks up a bit.
"Boss's 'it's complicated' guy?" she asks. Charlotte chuckles slightly and nods. "What about him?" Charlotte's brief smile vanishes, and she sighs, leaning forward and resting her arms against her knees.
"I've known him and Bal for...Well, a long time now. The three of us have known how problematic the Institute can be for years. Ever since the Director blackmailed me into leaving before I could finish my knight training." Nimona's eyes widen.
"You were going to be a knight?" Charlotte chuckles slightly.
"Yeah. That was the plan. I was the only one who could keep up with Ballister. I always said it was the street kid in us." She sighs and bows her head for a moment. "Charlotte Swiftheart. That was me. And then everything I'd built was torn down because of how the Institute was built, and because of the Director." A few beats of silence pass.
"You were...The Swiftheart Scandal was about you?" Nimona asks. Charlotte resists the urge to snort. They called it that the night of the Knighting Ceremony too, when they were talking about Ballister. Because of course, they had to bring up the only other commoner who had ever gotten into the program. The failure. The half blood.
"The only reason I had any faith left in the Institute after what it did to me was because of them. I could still believe in it because Bal and Ambrosius were there." Nimona makes a face.
"Why would golden guy give you any faith? He makes boss a total stick in the mud." Charlotte chuckles a little, fidgetting with her fingers.
"You know how it's complicated between him and Bal? It's kind of complicated for us too." At that, Nimona groans, and Charlotte looks over at her.
"Don't tell me you're pining after him too! Boss's sad puppy eyes are bad enough!" Charlotte's mouth quirks up slightly in amusement.
"Nim, I like women. I'm literally engaged to Norshe."
"Well yeah, but then how's it complicated for you and golden boy?" Charlotte tilts her head slightly.
"He's my half brother, Nimona." Nimona's eyes go wide and her mouth falls open.
"He's your what?" Charlotte huffs out a laugh, looking down again.
"Yeah. It tends to complicate things. I'm the leader of the KB and now he's a knight who would be put in charge of arresting me. It's a miracle he hasn't told the Director exactly where to find this place." A few beats of silence pass, with Nimona kicking her feet a bit as she thinks.
"What does this have to do with boss?" she finally asks. Charlotte sighs.
"He knows exactly what the Institute is capable of, it's just easier to blame the Director. If the Director is at fault, it means that he didn't spend years of his life fighting for a place in a corrupt, broken system. It means that even if he can't trust the Director, he can still trust the man he loves. That's why he wants to bring the video to Ambrosius," she says. Nimona stands up and turns toward her.
"But you know that we have to do more! The Director is a problem, but she's not the problem!" Charlotte nods.
"I know. I'm working on it." Nimona's eyes widen.
"You are? What's the plan?" she asks. Charlotte shrugs.
"You'll have to wait and see."

Phone Guy Dave AU Fanfic: A Book of Memories
“Sir, I have some concerns.” Dave says, as he shuffles around uncomfortably in the passengers seat of Jack’s stolen freight truck.
“About what? You told me you were dreaming about going to Vegas with me. Now it’s happening.”
“That’s not EXACTLY what I said. I dreamt that I was going to Vegas with you, but I wasn’t exactly ME.”
“You’re always you.”
“Sir, am I named after your dead best friend? The healthy thing would be to move on.” Jack doesn’t answer. “I was named Dave in my dream still, and we were friends. But I looked at company records, and the only Dave you ever worked with was Dave Miller, and he’s dead, so it kinda feels like you’re trying to use me to replace him.” Jack still doesn’t respond, his hand running over the photo album he had in his lap, he was hoping to add more to it on this trip. “Sir… SIR WATCH OUT!” Dave yells as they careen off the road and into a forest.
.
.
.
“Ain’t this great Sportsy, no Fazbenders to dig our graves, no annoying phoneys, and on our way to Vegas?” Dave asks. “Boy I haven’t been to Vegas in like… a week. I wonder if it’s changed.”
“Dave… was it really a great idea to leave Scott in that burning building?” Jack asks.
“‘Course it was Old Sport, if we’d rescued phoney he woulda called the cops. I’ve worked in more Fazbender’s locations than I can count. I know for a FACT you can never trust a phoney!”
“If you say so. I guess that guy did kinda suck. You know what, yeah. FUCK YOU PHONEY I HOPE YOU BURN!” Jack says, sticking his hand out the window to flip the bird to the sky in general.
Dave laughs. “Well, anyway, back to what I said earlier. A lot can change in a week. I mean, we’ve only known eachother a week and we’ve already got a body count together!”
“Let’s RAISE that body count in Vegas Davey!”
“Awww, you took the words right out of my mouth!~”
.
.
.
“Sir… Sir are you alive? Sir? SIR!!!” Jack wakes up seeing purple.
“Davey?” He questions, before leaning over and puking. He looks back to see Dave… the phone headed Dave. “Oh shit wuddup phoney!” He says with a wide grin. “What happened.”
“Y-you crashed the car sir.”
“Dave, am I upside down?” Jack says, finally noticing his predicament. He is upside down, still in his seat, while Dave is standing on what used to be the roof of the truck. His photo album is on the ground.
“Yes sir. You crashed the car.”
“Huh. That doesn’t sound like me.”
“Sir-“ the phone guy sighs, and unclips Jack’s seatbelt, causing the orange man to fall onto the ground, landing on his head.
“Ow what the FUCK employee.”
“You were being unhelpful so I decided to cause you pain.”
Jack picks up his photo album and tries to stand up, only to fall further onto the ground. “Shit my leg.” Dave looks at his leg.
“Oh it’s broken alright. And I’m tempted to leave it broken to teach you a lesson.”
“And what lesson might that be? Stealing is wrong? This whole crash is because the truck is stolen?”
“What? No, stealing is fine. I just don’t like it when you talk back to me. No talking back to your phoney.”
“Oh please you backtalk me WAY more than I do you.”
“You know, I DO have medical supplies, and I AM programmed to be able to handle this.” The phone guy says.
“Then can you help a guy out?” Jack asks.
“No. Not until you say I’m good at my job.”
“You’re evil.”
“Sure. But you have to say I’m good at my job and you’d be lost without me.”
“Fine, I’d be lost without you.” Not exactly not true.
“Aaaand?”
Jack sighs “You’re good at your job.”
Dave reaches for the glove compartment and opens it, catching a medkit as it falls out. Dave starts patching up Jack’s leg.
“Of course you stashed medkits in my truck. You’re paranoid.”
“Now that isn’t very nice.” Dave stops what he’s doing.
“…you’re loving this.”
“Oh 100%.”
“I will punish you.”
“No you won’t.”
“And why not?”
“Too sexy. You’d never punish Big Dick Davey!”
Jack blushes “and where did you come up with THAT idea?”
“It just came to me. I’m a genius.” Dave goes back to fixing Jack’s leg.
“Well you’re kinda right. I’d never punish you for being annoying. Evidently I prefer people who annoy me.”
“Well. I can call an ambulance-“
“And then they’ll find my stolen truck, bad plan.”
“What’s the point of having a phone head if I never get to use it?” Dave whines.
“There isn’t one, you just have a very particular lack of a face.” Jack says, grinning. Dave responds with a dialup tone. “So since we can’t call an ambulance, and I doubt I can walk back to the restaurant, it looks like we’re staying here! There’s some food in the back of the truck, and some stuff for this situation. Believe it or not, this is not the first time I’ve been stranded in the middle of nowhere.”
“I believe it.” Dave finishes the splint.
“So I’m going to need you to carry me to the back.” Jack says. The phone guy scoffs and picks him up, taking him out of the truck and opening up the back. Due to the truck being upside down, a lot of things are broken.”
“Sir… why is the truck covered in blood.”
“People have been murdered in here, employee. I’ve had this truck awhile.”
“Right.” The phone guy says, completely unbothered by this fact. Jack smiles at this.
“Ok just put me down on the box labeled knives. I’m pretty sure that’s the one full of guns.”
“To confuse your enemies or something.”
Jack clicks his rotten tongue “Exactly!”
Dave places Jack on the cardboard box. A knife protrudes from him “oh wait, we did a double negative so they’d THINK we were tricking them but we’d actually be not.” Dave picks him up and just puts him on the floor, somewhat roughly. “Dick.” Jack hisses.
“I’m going to go try to find the quickest way back to… “bear”… you just stay here and try not to royally mess anything up.”
“You lack confidence in me, David, that hurts.” Jack says dramatically as the phone leaves.
“Just… please don’t get yourself killed Sportsy…”
Dave leaves before Jack can question him on the use of his nickname. Jack smiles, sure, it’s tough, but he can feel it, he’ll have his Dave back soon.
Regardless. He’s starting to wonder if maybe he should have just carved Dave out of the suit. He knows it’s not why Dave wanted to be a phone guy, at least not fully. But if he had put him in a position where it was clear being a phone guy wasn’t necessary for what he claimed his reasoning was… no. This is what Dave wanted, although he’d never fully understand why, besides, Dave looked good as new apart from the hunk of plastic where his head used to be, that’s better than he could have done. He has Fredbear’s help escaping his own springlocks.
Ah Fredbear. He remembered his promise to that bear. He had murdered 5 children with Dave at the first location, 5 children a Janitor and a phone guy at the second (a phone guy he upon further consideration believes might have been his own brother but he’s going to ignore the evidence in favour of that to avoid thinking about how he killed his brother with a purple cryptid and a foxy), and now, he’s killed a baby at his third location and got his best friend turned into a phone guy. Fredbear would be MORE than disappointed. He would be livid. He probably was. Maybe he could make things up to Fredbear. He wasn’t dead and ironically Henry trying to cause some good ol’ emotional pain for him (and a bit of physical) and Dave let him realize he done fucked up helping that fat strawberry, so he was about done with him.
What WOULD he do after Dave was back to normal? Save the souls? Kill more kids? Retire to Vegas? That last option sounded fun. Although he’s not sure if phones can do drugs so that might be a problem.
He wonders what happened to Henry. Surely he can’t just be gone. Not that it’s anything he can worry about now. Now his biggest concern is his broken leg, and the fact that he’s pretty sure Dave is trying to plot the quickest route to Bear by taking all of the routes. He’ll call him in a bit if he doesn’t come back soon. He’s going to hold out awhile thought because he knows how phone guy’s tend to feel about their heads being called. It’s why he liked to prank call them with Dave, but he wouldn’t want to do that to Dave, he’s sure he’s already uncomfortable enough trying to fight through his programming.
Jack looks down at his photo album in his lap. A quick peak through won’t hurt.
.
.
.
Dave opens up the door to the truck, having calculated all the ways back to find his boss sprawled out on the floor an open photo album in his lap, Jack of course being completely unconscious. He’s got a soft smile on his face while he sleeps, as if having a good dream.
He approaches the sleeping corpse, deciding not to wake him up. Dave decides to look at Jack’s photo album. He knows he’ll probably get in trouble for those, maybe even get murdered if Jack finds out, but he wants to know more about his boss, and why the strange orange man behaves the way he does.
He slowly removes the photo album from Jack’s lap, there is writing on the page reading “second trip to Vegas with sportsy :)” he recognizes immediately that this is not Jack’s handwriting. Looking at the page, it’s mostly pictures of Jack and a purple skinned man in Vegas, each photo with their own caption, some in the same messy writing as before, others in Jack’s only marginally better printing. The weirdest thing is that Dave recognizes the photos. As if he were there when they were taken. But there is no third person in the photos, let alone a phone guy, and he can’t shake the feeling that the purple man looks even more familiar to him than Jack himself.
Dave has heard of phone guy’s thinking they were people. Who hasn’t. He’s always been told that they were just delusional, however he’s feeling as if he’s starting to experience the same glitch. Deciding to go on, Dave flips the pages.
There’s a long expanse of time in which the purple man stops appearing in photos, strange because earlier captions had implied him to be Jack’s best friend.
There’s a picture of an eggplant with the caption “I miss Dave, I wonder where he went.” Dave’s nonexistent heart skips a beat, Jack’s best friend was named Dave. But he already knew that didn’t he? Jack had a best friend named Dave who he was trying to replace. His dreams had told him as much. Dave had died, about 30 years ago, and Jack had hired him for whatever reason to try to replace him. Although that didn’t feel like something Jack would do.
Dave (or whoever his is if he really is just some guy Jack pulled off the street to replace his best friend), despite his better judgment continues to read through the photo album.
He then comes to a page covered in rather disturbing pictures, even more so than the ones in Vegas somehow. The pictures are of a very clearly dead and decomposing man in a greenish springbonnie costume. Jack had titled the first one “I found Dave! He’s a little worse for wear but he’s here.” The next series of pictures were of Jack, the corpse, and both of them together. Jack seemed to like posing the corpse, as if he was convinced he were still alive… Dave almost felt like he might have been. Terrifyingly, Dave remembered these photos just as much as the Vegas ones.
He reached the final pages with photos on them. There were pictures of him. The first titled “Dave asked me to send him to the factory, he just got back today. Maybe I should have tried harder to talk him out of it.” The next captions were all about “trying to make him remember”. He remembers all these photos far more vividly, in fact, he’s pretty sure that one was taken last week, because he’s sure he remembers Jack burying him in eggplants while he was in sleep mode last week.
It all clicks into place. He IS Jack’s best friend from the 80s, he got springlocked sometime 30 years ago, and somehow asked Jack to turn him into a phone guy. All the weird stuff (or at least SOME of it) Jack had been doing had been to try to get him back. That is both the most psychotic and nicest thing anyone had ever done for him as far as he remembered.
“All this time he-“
“Yeah… I didn’t really know how to tell you.” Jack says. Dave gasps and turns to where Jack was sleeping. He’s now very much awake and is sitting up.
Dave turns off his voice box, and approaches Jack, before saying the simple sentence Jack had missed so much.
“Why hello there, Old Sport.”
(Note: AAAAAAAAAAAAAH HE HAS RETURNED! You’ll all find out soon Big Dick Davey is not the only one who’s back. ;) btw since Davey is back now all major full phoney Dave fics will be before this. Not to say you won’t get more of just Dave with a phone head (I got a whole idea for a megafluff fic in which Dave is trying to find a way to kiss Jack with his phone head), but any stories in which he prominently has his Scott-like personality is before this. Gonna keep writing Scott Dave because he’s weirdly fun to write as a sassy phone guy. Btw, personality wise Jack is supposed to emulate the way people play him ingame.)

Art is Chaos
Grant Ward x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Written for Fictober 2022! Requested by anon
Fandom: Marvel
Prompt: "Adaptable, I like that"
Summary: Ward's going undercover in his nightmare scenario - as a hippie art teacher named River. He'll need all his training to pull this one off, but the combination of a pretty girl and a terrible coincidence of his co-art teacher being named Grant might be too much for even Agent Grant Ward's training to manage.
Word Count: 3,541
Category: Uhhhh probably like fluff with humor and a little bit of angst?
A/N: Guysssss this is my 500th post! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Here’s to 500 more I guess lol!
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
Grant's POV
"I'm going undercover as an art teacher? Sir, you've got to be kidding me."
"What's the matter? Don't think you can pull it off?"
I scoffed and crossed my arms, looking at Coulson still sitting behind his desk. He just stared back at me, his face completely blank. I hated how easy it was for him to get under my skin.
"Of course I can do it," I replied, knowing full well I was giving him exactly what he wanted. "I just don't think 'art teacher' is really my type."
"What is your type, Agent Ward?"
I fell silent, unable to come up with an answer that didn't sound like a five-year-old would say it. I huffed and looked at the ceiling, then turned back to Coulson with a slight scowl.
"Fine. We'll stick with the planned cover. But if Skye or FitzSimmons says anything, I'm throwing the nearest can of paint in their faces."
The corner of Coulson's mouth quirked up. "Duly noted. Now get going, we don't have a lot of time. The sooner you get teaching, the sooner we catch our target trying to arrange an illegal technology buy in the middle of your class."
"Yes sir."
I nodded and headed out of the room, trying not to look too bothered as I passed Skye on my way to grab my bag. The last thing I needed was her or anyone else asking questions about my cover.
The world outside the bus was about to meet River West, the hippie art teacher from Portland, but I didn't need anyone on the bus besides Coulson to know about him.
****************
Y/N's POV
I smiled to myself as I pulled open the door to the painting studio just a few blocks from my apartment. It had been open for a while now, and had been offering art classes for months, but today was the first time I'd actually gotten around to taking one.
The studio was bright and airy, with tables and easels set up all around the room. Several of the easels were already taken, and two men stood chatting at the front. I wandered over to an easel in the middle, which stood right beside one a friendly-looking woman already stood at.
"This easel taken?" I asked as I approached. She turned to me with a friendly smile and shook her head.
"Not at all, be my guest."
I nodded my thanks, then dropped my bag and took a second to look over the various art supplies piled around my canvas. I hadn't painted in a long time, but I'd seriously loved doing it when I was in high school, so I couldn't have been happier to have the chance to do it again.
Once I was satisfied with my setup, I turned back to the woman next to me with a smile.
"I'm Y/N, by the way," I said, holding out my hand for a shake. She took it and smiled back at me.
"Sarah. It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Sarah. So, have you taken one of these classes before?"
"Oh, yeah. I absolutely adore painting, so any chance I find to get behind an easel and spend the day like this, I take it."
"That's awesome," I said, completley meaning it. "I want to paint more often, so maybe I'll follow your lead."
"You should. The teachers are all great, too, although that guy on the left is new."
She nodded towards the tall, handsome man with dark hair, and I watched as he set up the last few supplies for the class. After a second, I realized I'd been staring, and turned to find Sarah grinning at me.
"I guess he's already got one fan," she teased. I felt my face heat up, and I waved my hand at her in a shushing motion, but she just laughed. Mercifully, I was spared from further teasing by the beginning of the class.
"Alright everybody, welcome to Art and Soul," said the guy I hadn't been staring at. He smiled out at all of us, his bright red hair fitting in with the bright colors around the rest of the room. "I'm Grant, and this handsome man to my right is River."
River, the one Sarah had caught me staring at, gave us all a smile and nodded with his hands behind his back.
"We're going to be your instructors for today," Grant continued. "Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any questions or need anything, and remember, there's no 'right way' to do art. The most important thing today is that everyone has a good time. So, without further ado, let's get to painting, yeah?"
We all let up a small cheer, and I smiled as I focused in on both instructors. They walked us through the basic steps of a painting we could create if we wanted to, and I decided I might as well follow the prompt, at least for today. After doing a quick pencil sketch to get an idea of the lines and shapes I wanted to build, I was finally painting again, and damn it felt good.
After the first few minutes, the teachers started walking around to look over our paintings and see if we needed any help. I tried not to freak out too much when I saw River, the handsome teacher, coming my way.
"Hey, this is looking good," he said, coming to a stop beside me. He gestured at the different brushstrokes on my canvas before looking at me with a smile. "You've got some real talent here."
I felt the heat rush to my cheeks as I glanced down at the floor. River didn't budge, just stayed right over my shoulder until I finally looked up at him. He grinned right back.
"Thanks," I said. "I haven't done it in a while, so we'll see if it stays this good, but..."
"Hey, what's the matter, you didn't hear my co-teacher earlier?" he asked, hands on his hips and a small smile on his face as he fixed me with a look. "There's no such thing as bad art."
My lips slowly pulled up into a smile, and I nodded to River.
"Thanks."
"Anytime. I'll be back in a few, alright?"
I nodded my thanks, and River shot me a wink before striding off to the set of easels behind me. I stared straight ahead at my canvas while I tried to get my giddy expression under control. I finally widened my horizons from my tunnel vision when I felt more confident, only to find I hadn't done a very good job.
"So... River, huh?"
I threw my hands over my face as Sarah gave me a sly look. She just laughed, and I sighed as I picked up my paintbrush and tried to distract myself by adding some brushstrokes to the canvas. Sarah nudged me and I shook my head, but I couldn't keep a smile off my face.
"What do you want me to say?" I finally sighed. "He's handsome."
"That he is," she chuckled. "No judgement here. You go get him."
We carried on working with minimal River interruptions for a while, as my painting of the ocean beyond the trees of the forest started to take shape. I set down my larger paintbrush and looked over my remaining supplies for a wiry brush to make the leaves of the trees, but it was missing.
I looked around, but both River and his co-teacher Grant were busy. Sarah was across the room talking with another student, and I didn't want to interrupt any of them, so that meant I needed to improvise.
I furrowed my brow as I looked around for inspiration, finally finding it when my eyes landed on my bag. I dug around for a few seconds then pulled out a handful of bobbypins and a hairtie. Perfect.
I used my hairtie to bind the narrow ends of the bobbypins together, and then dipped the splayed-out unconnected ends into the green paint. I gave them a few experimental swipes over my trees in the furthest corner to make sure I liked the way it looked, and was pleased to find that I did.
Art hacking like a pro.
Now that I had all the tools I needed, I completely zoned in on perfecting my pine trees. The world around me faded away as I worked, and I lost myself in my painting so much that I didn't even notice River showing up beside me until he spoke.
"You're using bobbypins as a paintbrush?"
I jumped, jerking my makeshift paintbrush up and thankfully away from the canvas. I laughed as the adrenaline faded a little, looking to River with a smile.
"Geeze, you scared me," I breathed.
"Sorry. You were really into your painting, weren't you?"
"I mean, yeah. You must know how it gets when you're in the zone."
River looked down and nodded, but didn't say anything. His lips were pursed and he didn't meet my eyes until a few moments later, with a smile on his face again.
"So... the bobbypins?"
"Oh! Yeah, I didn't have a wire brush, and you and the other teacher were busy," I explained. "I was gonna borrow one from Sarah, but she was talking to somebody on the other side of the room, so I improvised."
River glanced from me to Sarah when I mentioned her, but his eyes quickly came back to me. His smile had dropped for a second before returning, and he leaned in a little closer to me.
"Improvising art supplies," he said, sounding impressed. "Adaptable, I like that."
I pressed my lips together tightly to try to suppress my smile and glanced down at my feet again. When I looked back up at River, his eyes were still on me, a kind smile on his face. We held each others' stares for a few beats, and it was like he had his own gravity, pulling me slowly towards him. The distance between us closed, bit by bit, and I thought we were actually going to kiss in the middle of an art class before something seemed to snap River out of it.
He pulled back quickly, his eyes darting to a place over my shoulder before looking back at me. He cleared his throat, for once looking as flustered as I felt.
"I'll, uh- hm, I'll be right back. Sorry."
With that, he hurried off to the other side of the room. I watched him go, unable to help the disappointment pooling in my chest. What had happened?
I tried to shake it off as I turned back to my painting. I'd finished with the trees, so I didn't have to go back to the bobbypins, and Sarah was mercifully on the other side of the room so she couldn't tease me about anything.
The class continued, and River mostly kept to the other side of the room. Sarah floated between the easel next to mine and one in the back left corner, but she never failed to bring up River when she came back to our neighboring canvasses. Despite the unexpected stressors, however, I still found myself enjoyinig the experience.
Finally, it was time for me to put the finishing touches on my painting. Once the last brushstrokes were in place, I took a step back to admire my handiwork. It certainly wasn't perfect, but that was just part of the art. I'd had fun making it, and I liked the way it looked, so as far as I was concerned, it was a success.
The only thing left to do now was to sign it. I glanced down at my station, but all my brushes were filthy with other colors, and the pencil marks would fade faster than I wanted them to. I debated digging into my bag and seeing if I could find some liquid eyeliner, but for my signature on my masterpiece, I didn't really want to find an improv solution.
I glanced up and scanned the room for River, but he was in the far back corner again, hovering around the easel that Sarah kept visiting. Sarah, this time, was next to me, one eye on River. I sighed heavily and decided I didn't want anything to do with that, especially since I was here for a nice, relaxing day of art. I turned and found the other teacher, Grant, instead.
"Grant!" I called across the room. The redhead turned, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw River whirl around too. I turned to look at him, and found Sarah staring at him from next to me too. Nobody moved for a few beats, and a strange silence fell over the room. Then, the man at the canvas Sarah kept visiting whirled around with lighting speed and levelled a punch at River.
"Oh my God!" I cried. I thought for sure he was about to be laid out, but he ducked the punch with lighting reflexes of his own. Before I could blink, he returned fire, knocking the guy out in a single punch as the rest of our class screamed and ran for the exits.
"I knew it," I heard Sarah mutter as she dug into her bag. To my shock and horror, she pulled out a gun and started heading across the room for River.
The room was basically empty now, aside from me and Sarah. River had disappeared in the chaos, although Sarah was clearly searching for him as she prowled across the room. I took a few terrified steps backwards, away from her, trying not to make any noise or sudden movements.
I kept moving backwards, and thankfully, Sarah didn't notice me. I felt like I was about to have a heartattack, but I forced myself to stay calm as I slowly edged backwards. It all crumbled in an instant, however, when a hand clamped over my mouth and a strong arm wrapped around my waist before pulling me backwards.
I started to scream, but it quickly died in my throat as I was yanked around a corner, out of sight of Sarah. My back hit the wall, but not very hard, and I came face to face with River staring at me intensely.
"I'm gonna take my hand off your mouth," he said, his voice soft and barely above a whisper. "Don't scream, alright?"
I nodded, and slowly, he pulled back his hand. I stared at him, trying to calm my racing heartbeat, but considering the events of the last few minutes I really couldn't do much.
"What. The hell. Was that?" I hissed, finally finding my breath. River grimaced and looked at the ground.
"A rookie mistake," he muttered. I raised my eyebrows and gave him an exaggerated look, so he sighed and continued. "My name's not River."
"What?"
"My name is Grant Ward-"
"Whoa whoa whoa, Grant? Like, the other art teacher Grant?"
River–Grant, apparently–huffed an irritated sigh. "Believe me, I was so much more pissed about that than you."
"Why did you need a fake name to be an art teacher?"
"I'm not an art teacher. I'm a SHIELD agent, here undercover to find your friend Sarah and her buddy in the back of the classroom. They've been using this space as a cover for meetups and scheduling illegal trades of highly dangerous alien technology."
My mouth dropped open, and I couldn't do more than gape at Grant in shock. He gave me a sympathetic look, then took a step back.
"You need to get out of here," he said. He nodded down the hallway, where there was a back exit out of the building. "Go meet up with everyone who's out on the street. You'll be safe out there."
"Wait! What about you?"
"I'll be fine. This is my job, I'm used to it."
With that, he ducked back around the corner and into the room where Sarah presumably still waited with a gun.
I stared after him, completely unsure what to do for a few beats. I glanced back at the door behind me that Grant had pointed out, and took a few steps in that direction when I heard Sarah's now-familiar voice.
"You really had it bad for her, didn't you, Grant?" she taunted. "That was an embarrassingly stupid mistake you made, giving away your identity just because a pretty girl called your real name."
I grimaced. I needed to get out of here. Grant was trained, and I was not. I had no idea what I was doing. I'd probably get in the way and be more harm than help.
"And now, that little mistake is going to cost you. Let's send a little message to SHIELD, shall we? About what happens when you try to meddle in places that were better left alone."
Against my better judgement, I turned back towards the classroom and quickly crossed to the doorway Grant had snuck me out of. I don't know if it was curiosity, stupidity, or something else, but I just had to go back. I peeked around the corner to find Sarah with her back to me, arms up, and a gun pointed at Grant. There was enough space between them that Grant had no shot at getting the gun from Sarah, and I could see in his face that he knew it.
"Any last words, Grant?" Sarah taunted. He took a deep, fortifying breath, and in that gap, I followed my gut instincts and threw caution to the wind. I sprinted into the room at full-speed and tackled Sarah from behind with all the force I could muster.
We hit the ground together, and she shrieked as we went down. It only took a few seconds for her to flip me off of her, and I saw my life flash before my eyes as she whirled on me. Then, at the last second, she collapsed unconscious to the ground instead.
I looked up to see Grant standing over her, a painter's palette that he'd used to knock her out in his hand.
"Are you okay?" he asked, quickly dropping to a crouch in front of me. I smiled at him and nodded, the terror turning into giddyness as the adrenaline dump hit.
"I'm great. Is that a painter's palette?"
"What? Yes, it is. Y/N, what were you thinking? That was incredibly dangerous-"
"Adaptable," I said, breaking in and giggling as I fixed him with what I hoped was a flirty look. "I like that."
He sighed and rolled his eyes, but I caught a faint smile on his face despite how hard he tried to hide it. He straightened and held out a hand to help me up, which I took.
"You should've gotten the hell out of here," he said. We stood almost chest to chest, and he hadn't dropped my hand.
"And where exactly would you be if I had?"
"I would've been fine." I just raised an eyebrow at Grant, and after determinedly holding my stare for a few moments, he sighed. "Alright. You might've saved my life."
I grinned, although I wasn't completely sure why. This was not the kind of situation that should've had me smiling.
"So..." said Grant, dropping my hand and taking a half-step back as he surveyed the scene around us. Police sirens sounded outside, and we could hear the nervous chatter from the evacuated crowd, too. "I need to clean this up. But... I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee afterwards, if you'd be interested. Since you saved my life and all."
I beamed back at him as I answered. "Honestly? You definitley owe me a coffee and a little more explanation after all of this."
Grant let out a small laugh as he stepped a little further away from me and grabbed some drop sheets from the far side of the room to start tying up Sarah.
"You're on. I'll call you when I'm done here," he said. "In the meantime, you should probably head out. I've got a badge to get us out of any questions the cops might have, but it'd probably be better if your name didn't come up at all."
I nodded and took a few steps towards the back door, grabbing my painting and bag as I went. I paused just on the threshold and stared at Grant as he continued to round up the apparent criminals and made sure their weapons were accounted for.
"Grant... do you... need my number? Or something?"
He paused his work to look up at me with an arrogant grin.
"I'm an agent of SHIELD. I'll find you." I raised an eyebrow, and after a second, he dropped the act. "Your number's on the class roster. I'll call that."
I laughed and nodded, giving Grant a small wave as I headed down the back hallway. I probalby wouldn't be coming back to this painting class, if I were being completely honest with myself, but I didn't mind. I could pick back up painting on my own just fine, from the safety of my own home.
Besides, the class wasn't going to be a total wash. I'd found Grant, after all, and every time I thought about him my heart leapt. And since everyone had come out of it okay, I felt perfectly comfortable saying a little chaos was worth the result.
Chaos was my favorite kind of art, after all.

Sonet: daddy! If auntie and uncle can pick out names for my Navi before my birthday, does that mean me and her will share a birthday?
Lan: no sweetheart. That was just the deadline I put for your aunt and uncle to pick out names. You and your cousin will each have their own birthdays
Sonet: then when is my cousin's birthday?
Lan: it would be a couple of weeks after yours. She's almost done, but I need to tweak her programming just a little when she gets her names. Also I don't want your birthdays to be too close to each other either
Sonet: okay daddy
Lan: you should go and play now sweetie
Patch: they're even worse with picking names this time around
Lan: I know, but they'll never admit to us
Remix: Mom, Dad, are you guys still thinking about names?
Mega: Well, we found a human name...
Roll: But...still thinking about the Navi one
Remix: Well, better hurry it up, Uncle Lan practically has a countdown timer for Sonet's birthday
Mega: Ugh! Why are we so bad at this! Remix's name eventually came to us, why can't this come any faster?
Roll: Maybe we need to stop overthinking it. How about we clear our head?
Mega: That sounds fine. What would you suggest?
Roll: I think Mayl is giving Sonet a piano lesson. Wanna listen in?
Mega: Sure!
Later
Mayl: That's it. You're doing very well, sweetie!
Sonet: Thank you, Mommy. Can we play your and Daddy's song, now?
Mayl: Hehe, it's not really "our" song, it's just a song I taught him to play with me when we were kids. It's the only song he knows
Sonet: That makes it your song!
Mayl: If you say so... Now go up to that octave and I'll start us off okay?
They start playing a famous Netopian duet
Roll: Oh I love this song! Remember when we first heard it?
Mega: Yeah, Mayl was trying to teach it to Lan and it took him forever to get it right despite his part being simple...
Mayl: Sonet, you're going too fast now!
Sonet: Oops, sorry!
Mayl: Don't be like your Dad now and leave me to keep up his pace. Stick with the right tempo, okay?
Sonet: Okay!
Mega: Oh yeah, that's right, Lan always wanted to play faster than Mayl could keep up. This is why he doesn't do music...
Roll: Hmmm
Mega: What's wrong?
Roll: That word...I like it
Mega: Huh? What word? Which one?
Roll: Tempo... I wanna name our daughter that
Mega: Tempo, huh... I think that's a great name. I think it's fitting too, she may have to set the pace to get the rest of her chaotic family in line!
Roll: Haha, we can only hope! Oh Mega, I'm so happy! Let's go and tell Lan now!
Mega: Alright! Hahaha, this is exciting, it's finally happening!
Roll: Yes! We're gonna have a daughter, Mega!
They hug and cheer
Sonet: What are Uncle Hub and Auntie Roll doing?
Mayl: Looks like they're celebrating something...and I think I know why
Sonet: Really?
Mayl: Yeah, looks like we may need to clear some space for a new addition *wink*
Sonet: ???

Rage Room Rewrite
"Yeah. Well, thank you rage room." Olivia laughed, glancing around the messy room filled with shattered, glass, old furniture scraps, and broken junk.
"No, thank you," Spencer corrected her, knowing that he would not have found such a positive outlet for his feelings if not thanks to her innovative thinking. He spent days upset over Coach Baker and Jordan's secret, running himself ragged trying to process his frustrations. It seemed like nothing and no one could help him overcome his dilemma without it turning into a screaming match or pointless conversation where Spencer felt he wasn't being heard.
Jordan and Billy wanted him to understand the positive side of Coach B coming to GAU. Mama Grace believed Billy should stick around Crenshaw, but could not say that the opportunity to rebuild the GAU football program shouldn't appeal to Coach Baker. And while Spencer loved the idea of Billy being his head coach once more, he didn't need Billy as much as those boys in Crenshaw. Spencer got out, and with Billy at their side, more great athletes had a chance to do so as well. That was the bigger picture, and it pissed Spencer off that no one understood where he was coming from.
Then there was Olivia. She hadn't known about Billy's opportunity to coach at GAU until Spencer disclosed the news. However, she didn't jump to back her dad as soon as she heard, nor did she act like Spencer wasn't obliged to his feelings on the matter. No, Liv didn't take sides or shut Spencer down for being angry with anyone for dancing around the truth. She listened to him and his feelings on the topic, then gave her truthful advice. Knowing his temperament, Olivia willed Spencer to try to talk to her father again. And like any other time, Spencer would follow her advice because even after their breakup, Olivia had not stirred him in the wrong direction. He missed these sincere talks they shared. He could not confide in anyone as he did with Olivia. She was his best friend before anything else. And it was in moments like this that he found himself missing her the most.
"I needed this," Spencer admitted adoringly, gazing at those beautiful brown orbs he could stare into for hours at a time. He forced himself to look away before he found himself falling into old habits that these loving gazes use to lead to before the breakup.
"I needed this too," Olivia confessed when Spencer broke their gaze, hoping to regain his focus. Her shoulders slumped as she heavily sighed, feeling the weight of her emotions building, resisting the urge to close the small amount of space between them as Spencer met her eyes once more.
 Gifting Spencer a halfhearted smile, she was rewarded when he smiled back as they enter a comfortable silence. "Look at that. It's finally happening." Spencer retorted encouragingly.
"What?" Olivia inquired, believing she missed what he caught on to.
"We're finally learning how to be friends again," Spencer replied, grinning as if this were their greatest accomplishment.
"Hmm..." Olivia hummed, nodding lightly internalizing his statement, trying to process that the guy she spent the afternoon putting the moves on was friend-zoning her.
"What's up?" Spencer questioned, sensing the tension switch between him and Olivia as her body tensed and her expression faltered.
"Can I be honest with you for a second?" Liv asked, biting her bottom lip nervously, desiring to work out the problems inside her mind.
"Always," Spencer insisted, his hand grazing her outer thigh, "Hey, look at me."
Swallowing her pride, Olivia finally glanced at him, her unease conveyed in her tense state. "Alright, so full transparency, I had ulterior motives for bringing you here today?" Liv confessed, rubbing her hands at her side, nervous to see how Spencer would react to her actions. "I wanted to help you work out your frustrations, but I also hoped to get you alone for a few hours. We hardly hang out as much as we use to, and when we do there are always other people around. Plus, now you have Alicia..." Olivia's voice dragged out, unsure where to go from there without sounding like a bitter ex.
"And you have Noah, so what's going on," Spencer grumbled defensively when Olivia dropped Alicia into the picture as if there was a problem.
"Noah is just a friend. A colleague at best, since that night I shut down any potential 'thing' we might've started." Olivia immediately revealed. "There was no point in leading him on when my heart wasn't really in it." She continued bravely, refusing to tear away from Spencer's confused gaze, as he remained unable to see where this was going.
"I'm sorry that I'm rambling," Olivia mumbled, rubbing her hands through her fallen bangs. "You spent all this time saying how you hate when people aren't honest with you. So I want to be honest with you about what's on my mind."
"I'm listening," Spencer assured Olivia that she had his undivided attention. "Say what you need to say."
Reaching for his hand that provided a comforting motion on her thigh, Olivia topped his with her own.
"My light never dims around you, Spencer." Olivia started off by rebutting his claim from the night he broke up with her. "Not even a flicker." She tried to help him see, tightening her hold on his hand.
"Liv..." Spencer interjected gently, finally understanding what her babbling from moments ago was building up to.
 However, Olivia found herself on a steady roll and wasn't going to let anything else stop her from disclosing her truth.
"I don't want to learn to be friends again, because we're more than that." Olivia shut down his revelation of friendship from earlier. "And it was damn hard to get there." She added, mentally recollecting all the turmoil she went through before she was able to officially call Spencer hers.
She endured putting her feelings aside to watch him date her best friend, Layla. Only for Layla to manically break up with him during her depressive episode, thinking Spencer would be there waiting when she got better. Then the world spun when Spencer took a bullet for Liv, connecting them in a way that-- still to this day-- no one will ever understand. It was no wonder why Asher never stood a chance once Spencer finally realized he'd fallen for Olivia, and that the deep love was reciprocated. Then Olivia relapsed, yet Spencer was there at her side through it all. And like everything else, they overcame it. It seemed like they were always stronger than any obstacle put in front of them, and Olivia refused to believe that bond was torn apart by a simple article and trivial miscommunications. Not when they already learned from it and were both able to do better.
Hell no. Olivia thought to herself, anxiously biting her bottom lip in deep thought. They did not beat all those past complications only to take 20 steps backward into the friend zone.
"I want you back." Olivia summed up to an indifferent Spencer as he processed everything. "I want us back."
Spencer nodded, still unsure where that left them. "You shut me out, Liv. You ghosted me for weeks. What's changed since then?"
"I know what I want now." Olivia shrugged. "I admit, I walked away too easily that night of the Christmas party. I should have told you all of this when you told me how you felt during those six weeks we spent apart. But this goes both ways, Spencer. I only distanced myself from you because I thought that you needed space to deal with the Garrett situation. When you invited me to the party, I thought you were finally ready to mend fences and come together on how to best move past things. Do you not realize how blindsided I felt when you said you wanted to break up? I mean, damn, why did you even invite me over to begin with if you were going to pull the rug right from under me." Liv cried out, finally detailing the pain she felt from the Spencer giving up on them.
"I didn't mean for it to happen that way, Liv," Spencer swore, grazing the palm of his hand over Olivia's cheek where tears rolled."I spent weeks waiting for you to reach out, then I saw you around campus happy -- without me. I figured letting you go was the best I could do for you before we really hurt each other. I didn't mean to blindside you. When you didn't fight with me over the breakup, I started to believe that I did the right thing for both of us. Then everyone kept telling me I needed to move on, so I tried to. But you were still my main thought when I woke up, during my classes, on the field, when I hung out with the guys, and before I went to sleep. You were everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It was driving me crazy, in the beginning. Then I met Alicia, and we started to chill. Suddenly the pain became bearable. I had a distraction. Then my mom's wedding happened." Spencer noted, thinking back to those interesting events.
"We reconnected," Olivia recalled. "In layman's terms anyway." She added, remembering the night of passion they shared.
"We did," Spencer confirmed. "And I found you again at the reception, hoping we'd be on our way to having this type of discussion. But you shut me out -- again." Spencer huffed at the memory of her blunt response that afternoon.
Closure my ass. Spencer remembered thinking to himself after hearing Olivia's excuse for not wanting to hash things out that day.
"I was hurting, Spencer." Olivia sighed, unwavering. "Sure, we'd shared this amazing night together, but you were seeing some other girl while I was still in the mourning stage of our breakup. How do you think I felt knowing that while I was missing you, you were already out single, and ready to mingle?" She scoffed. "I mean the #SmashTour?" She groaned, making air quotes, causing Spencer to laugh. "What is so funny about that?" Olivia moaned, shoving at his side.
"First of all, that idea was all J.J.'s doing." Spencer gagged, regaining his balance from her push.
"Oh, was the fast little hoochie you were seen with all over IG  J.J's doing too?" Olivia asked, shutting Spencer up real quick. "Didn't think so."
"C'mon, Liv. I didn't do anything with ole'girl." Spencer shrugged. "I even hit you up that same night, but only got as far as your voicemail."
"Sure, did." Olivia snubbed, her residual jealousy still evident. "My point is, you've spent all of this breakup doing things you thought I wanted you to do, right? You thought I was unhappy, so you let me go. I told you to be happy so you found a new girl. You saw me with some new guy and I thought it meant I was over you and ready to be friends again. This entire breakup was about me not voicing what I really wanted from the start, Spencer. Well, I want what I want; and I want you. It's not the best timing. Not the most romantic setting either. But it's the best I've got for now." Olivia concluded, desiring her best foot forward would show how serious she was about rekindling what they lost. "I know Alicia makes you happy and she's easygoing and things with her aren't complicated." Olivia begins to list all the reasons he probably would choose to stay with his new girl.
"Liv, slow down for a second, will you?" Spencer coaxed, sensing how far off she was beginning to go. "Listen to me for a moment. "You're right, Alicia is great. She makes me smile and we have a good time together."
"Just what I wanted to hear." Olivia sneered, no longer able to hold back her disdain for witnessing another woman in Spencer's life.
"Hold on, just listen." Spencer gently demanded. "Alicia is all those things you said, and probably more." He said, giving props where props were due. "But, Liv, Alicia tried every mechanism in her artillery to get me to open up about my problems with your dad and Jordan. No matter how hard she tried to make me feel better, I wouldn't budge. And it wasn't for a lack of trying. Believe me, I've tried to let her in. To reassure her that she was doing great and that I was happy to have her help. Problem is, she knows and I know that there are dynamics that she does not understand. Things at play in life that she probably will never understand the depths of. Then you showed up at my door, and in a matter of moments, you had me talking. Same thing with today. I can talk to you in a way that I can't do with anyone else. That's never going to change. And I can try to say it's because you're a good friend who understands me well, but it's more than that." He finally admitted, sculpting her face in his hands. "You mean more to me than that."
"And Alicia?" Olivia mumbled, on the verge of tears.
"She's a good person, who I really don't want to hurt." Spencer sighed in dismay. "But she deserves better than someone whose heart isn't all in it. And that is exactly what I'm going to tell her after."
"After what?" Liv's mumbled in a whisper as her eyes danced in direction of Spencer's lips.
He hadn't answered. Only brought her lips to his mouthwatering kiss.
Cupping her right hand around Spencer's neck, Liv lures him closer. Lightly nibbling his bottom lip, she is greeted with gentle laughter from Spencer's terrain. Weaving her manicured fingers around the nape of his neck, Olivia doddles on his skin as he deepens the kiss.
Devouring his mouth sweetly, Olivia reexplores him, after months of being deprived of his intimate affection. Dancing with his desirable tongue as he played tug-a-war with hers. Spencer's inner walls are moist and welcoming. Tingles spread on her like wildfire as dangerous, sultry desires swirled within her mind, signaling to Liv that it was time to stop. Drawing their lips together one last time, Liv nuzzled her nose to his, before gently breaking away.
"After that." Spencer finally responded, earning a playful eye roll from Olivia.

hello please have some "actually a half-vampire just not aware of it" anton au thoughts
(virgil is human and clueless because I refuse for this to be otherwise)
goldblum figures it out and takes anton aside the second time he's brought in for questioning like "dude, are you okay? you got fake fangs instead of using your real vampire ones, you don't need those, you can just— wait, why are you crying—"
(goldblum's either a vampire himself or, to borrow a thing that's too good not to borrow & because it fits the gleefully-open-minded-about-fringe-shit vibe, he dated a vampire once)
@darkfinch had this LOVELY idea for the vampire intiates to stick together as a community post-canon and to my mind, what makes that better here is if most of 'em turn out to be real vampires to some degree - or Something Else, or just Aware of this shit. they're in it for the fun, for the local community, for the "yeah this is bullshit but some of it's fun bullshit and it's funny to see how bad at it the leader is."
when they manage to corner anton (freaking out quietly in his loft) (his whole world shattered in pieces around him) (goldblum gave him a number to call to answer some questions but the poor guy's petrified) half of them are like "we thought you knew and were just trying to blend in!" and half are like "we were trying to figure out how to tell you!!" and it's just this mess of supportive-but-worried chaos.
...and anton, betrayed, off-kilter, already primed to question the programming of the last year or so has some people to help set him on the right track.
this ALSO sets us up for a thing. :) a thing where maybe goldblum looks the other way (an actual acknowledgement by the still-shitty cops in this shitty cop show of how awful the situation is) or there's a terribly unfortunate powercut and a few of the initiates get to pay virgil a visit.
they admit it to anton while very drunk a year or so later and he laughs so hard he cries <3

Episode #710

The Wayz We Were Season 33, Episode 4 | October 17, 2021
Man, I really hated this one. The Simpsons becoming bland was a terrible blow for the unhealthily-obsessed-with-cartoons among us. But for better or worse, The Simpsons was ahead of its time with its initial blandness. Television, by and large, has become even blander than the blandest episode of the Simpsons, even, so they now feel actually contemporary, weirdly enough.
This one is about a Waze-like app causing the family grief by routing too many cars through Evergreen Terrace. It quickly segues into a story about Moe crossing paths with Maya, and falling in love all over again. This time he proposes to her. It sorta reminds me of when the show took another bitter loser, Comic Book Guy, and married him off.
This ends with Moe asking her to marry him and her saying yes. I’ve focused on Moe as a way to criticize the show’s fall from grace. At the start he was mean and sleazy. Jokes in the classic era ironically showed him having a soft side. That characterization wound up sticking. Mr. Burns had a similar change, going from actually-evil to doddering and oblivious. Modern mainstream comedy programs are so queasy about depicting anything other than blue sky bullshit that all the changes to make the show more toothless are now actually welcome by the modern media landscape. It makes me ill just thinking about it.
This one is full of overly wacky and pointless gags, and a corny James Taylor needledrop. They bring back Maya, a little person that I legitimately feel uneasy about. I made a half-joking post about the previous Maya episode, suggesting that Maya can easily or subliminally be seen as a minor, and that the show was attempting to groom children. Thank goodness nobody reads this blog, because I was truly just goofing around, and wasn't sincerely trying to give weird right-wingers ammo. It was just incredibly weird how that same episode features a baby wearing what could be perceived as S&M gear domming Homer, and a photo of two children scrubbing an elderly woman’s feet, which ties directly into the story about Matt Groening getting his feet washed by a teenage girl on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane. I haven’t concluded that Matt was aware of the implications of what he was doing, and I think the show’s sicko-mode was unintentional. But I still think it would have been a good idea to rethink this.
But most importantly: episode sucks. The only good thing was Ruth Powers scolding Marge for not visiting her in years even though they live next door. Bad season canon would remind you that she, in fact, moved out of that house at some point, because Sideshow Bob moved into it. I think at the end of that a relative of Ned Flanders moved in. Well, I guess she’s back. I’m just going to put this out there: I would watch the shit out of a spin-off of just Ruth and Laura Powers, maybe they move to Arizona or something. An Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore sorta thing. Yeah. That’d be nice. As long as they didn’t make it lame and retarded. Sorry for saying retarded.

Couple of ideas we're going forwards and he's going to move on I'm home and one of them is the cardisan Ringling part of and Bailey fundraiser for less privilege and the charities are being run right and they want to have people represent from each group to make sure they are you can't go anywhere and have it run right. And several things probably come from it the orphanage where the girl cookie is and he calls her that her real name is die it's kind of weird so he calls her cooking. And a lot of people will so that's one of the things there's a few places like that even or if a nanny it's kind of from the future believe it or not and they do sing the song it's an amazing event it really is and it actually helps and there's a lot of work and people find out that that Trump is just a huge a******. Whatever he touches he wants all of it and it starts messing it up and gets kicked out it's true. There's a few other things but that program at the circus grounds or was huge huge effect it changes a lot of things some of these motorcycles show up the king motorcycle and franken like they show up with those bikes and actually someone has a crocker and it is hagrid and it's his version no it's what they built later on in the 90s and he wants to bring that back and he said that's great we have to lower it and he said yeah we do I'm huge when I ride it and it's too high up and it's squishing my nuts. Oh you're in love with this one this is an awesome program it's it's a nasty group it really is and the sun figures it out but he knows a really gross but they sell such a stuff all the time he's like look I'm in costume I don't need it right now I'm a young guy you know that's the point I said I'll have to leave and they stop so they get excited about it but just do anything so they're trying to do that really it's like rape or something but it is a concept and we do go along with it literally and figuratively but the whole thing is about freedoms too it's going to start up and they go up there occasionally and they do ask and they make some money. Last weekend there are about three Acts they went there for an hour each and total of the weekend and two different days but only a total of three times so it's one hour on Saturday and 2 hours and Sunday or three different people and cheese combined almost Barbra Streisand format and it's with a trumpster unfortunately you know about it and they're kind of pigs and want stuff to take over like that to hide in the screw around with people it says screw around with Max and get lost so they say why have them do it yeah it's not likely you're like though you have some sort of cheese ball and lame
-another program that's going ahead and yeah our son and daughter though are encouraging people and they want me to mention what the acts were. One of them was an acoustic guitar performer and they know some really nice songs not just led Zeppelin okay they know Simon and Garfunkel and they know some Bruce Springsteen but they know some of the older signs that are very nice with the acoustic guitar and it sounds really nice and yes Summer breeze is one of them and there's a couple of songs from Mexico and they're wonderful to listen to and it was not Mac Daddy or his kids it was a daughter of Sarah and people say she's brave to go up there and she is and it was a sister of Alicia
*another ask out of the three and it's normal during the winter summer it's not a ton but it's a really good temperature now and it's going to cool off and in the evening it's nice in the morning it's nice for acts too and it increases the popularity of the museum. They had performer juggling when he says oh that's a real good one and they were not using the pins they're juggling with the juggle sticks but they're professionals real professionals of street performer and he's very good at it and it is the ones that have the knobs and you juggle with two sticks in your hands and you're juggling two or three sticks and he did a bunch of tricks and it was fantastic for an hour and people loved it in this films of it and it's going around
*the third act was kind of a little bit Hands-On and it was more about not interaction but it was gymnastics it's more physical I guess and people were not physical with them. But it was gymnastics and they did gymnastics stunts of course the backflip but they did about 20 of them there's a crew of three and over the clones and they went up and they did that and they did somersaults they're on the grass one of them did about 30 and everyone clapped in a straight line then one of the 20 in a circle and it was a lot of clapping and they're dressed up for the occasion not massively but they did have bicycle shorts and bicycle top with the spandex it looks fantastic they did a great job and they're organized and had music and it was choreographed they got the message and they got a lot of thank yous and fireman Bailey did great business that weekend cuz these are well known performers in the area and that's what they're looking for
*so our son says he can go up there and walk around that's what he does apparently and his wife says that's all he does and they considered an act they think we can't do anything so people going to try and get him up there to do the air then I do some jokes in practice baby Hera will show up to help him out the other girls who show up it was the different girlfriends and all sudden it's kind of funny oh yeah that one she's not before and then she has done it and they changed back and she's her so he might try and do that it's got a lot of rude jokes Nancy barman Bailey circus and how many ghosts do they have they'll say a few and say none but they're all goes now don't forget to give generously lol. So it took a bit for them to get the joke but they're getting it now. And we think that's what friends on BG to do an MGMT kids. It's a huge huge day okay there's one more thing
-they're thinking of getting him to work to do all sorts of stuff now it's John remillard train and snare him and point is he suck he can hardly do a damn thing it has to be like free and all this other weird s*** that the guy is kind of useless we really actually don't think so he can't do it anymore and Josh had trouble doing it so we shall see but other people are thinking about that idea to try and take over the job and that's actually what works it's a good thing to put it up there and good thing to say because it did work
Thor Freya
Yeah I got the idea horrible joke horrible boy what kind of ghost and he looks around don't say anything so really it's kind of hell cuz they are very good at what Trump says he's real good at and our friend here says no not me not us they'll be fat heads like Aaron Mike says and yeah he's trying to threaten with bugs so he's saying the wrong damn thing in the wrong time it just does not sound good so he says oh and yeah oh
Thor Freya
Used to say that a lot of work. Oh. And yeah this is not right and this one doesn't look right. He said some Whoppers ok was underpaid. For years. That sounds good pretty mad and angrier and angrier in his rightfully so they doing it to me kick us out of the job don't care get beat up they don't care get hassled they don't care lose half their forests they don't care lose their fleets they don't care so really they can't be disciplined or reasoned whether to work with and they're still doing it and he says we're going to have to just keep going in the direction we're going and trying to administer corrective behavior and it's true and people should separate and isolate from them and they're terrible
Cassandra
The sooner messing with me ruining me messing me up and trying to take me down and all sudden I heard him saying that's good and he pulled it off the internet and said what is it and someone's having it done he found them working with me and I'm screwing around. They got it out of them they said you know this is the max stuff and you're doing it all the time to everyone they said what are you talking about I said you don't get anything this is how it's flowing out and they're saying we're taking everything over with the computer and their mental as hell and people figured out their delusional you know about all this stuff and what they're doing is not helping you so we're going to war with them now
Megan Merkel
One of their women is crying for mercy and it's kind of like you're asking a clone they don't have mercy on anyone you idiot and she wants her to him to do something it's ridiculous granted they had some things they were doing correctly and a whole bunch of it and now they're doing nothing right and they won't change we're getting to work right now and helping her son

Thank you for the kind words 😭 You sound like you know a lot about programming too!
Yes! You were exactly right R is for registers and ramend is the low part of ram.
Right now I don't have the energy to get back into learning codding. I only do little bit of it at my job but it's deadly boring. We basically maintain a super old accounting software for factories. BUT as soon as I'm done with university I'm getting back into learning coding because I used to like it a lot. And that new popular twitch programer guy makes me think I want to make a video game lol
Are you studying to become a developer?
I almost have my degree but my thesis is not going well 🙃 If you know someone who can design electronic circuits let me know lol. I'm trying to stay positive though! There is still a chance I can do it.
Computers are just so interesting aren't they? Like if you get down to the physics of it. It's just endlessly fascinating.
(you can leak all of my asks if you whish I don't mind)
omg those are some kind words thankyouuuu and yayy i got my silly guesses right!!
i really hope you can get back to the grind of things tho! coding really is fascinating and im sorry that youre getting bored doing your job right now (altho what kinda software are you guys using, if thats okay to ask?) and omg tell me whos the guy on twitch? maybe i can use twitch to finally better my skills instead of just passively watching stuff lol
and yeah i am studying to become a developer basically, and i like machine learning stuff so im thinking of doing that. altho, the goal of my degree (engineering) is just that—getting a degree, coz its just easier to get jobs that way, even if 2 people have the exact same skill set (can u tell the education and hiring system is fucked here) i still have 1.5-2 ish years to my degree tho and i wish you the best!! and im sure you can do it❤️
electronic circuits...hmm i do not know anyone and i didnt do much of it, just 2 mandatory subjects where we had to make stuff like multiplexers adders and what not on that bread board thingies in practical classes (tbf, all subjects in this degree are mandatory we dont get to choose) and im glad theyre behind me the theory classes of those were nightmares
computers are so fascinating yess like youre telling me i can tell it to do whatever if i just try hard enough? (or well if im smart enough?) thats amazing! there was a time i was more interested in the physics part of it like the hardware and electronics stuff, but it got increasingly difficult and i couldnt keep up lol so im just sticking to my lovely softwares. alteast they treat me well (usually) (if they want)

Hello!! I interrupt your scheduled programing with "Kate tells Meg about the book she is reading because she is bored and reading is fun!" time!
Okay - so, I finished the Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty on audio, and wow! I really liked it! I found the writing to be subtle, and the narrators did such a great job with the emotions the book had. The plot was almost like peeling back a layer on something, finding more and more behind the walls. It starts out one way, and then the adventure starts and pulls you along for the ride. The characters were lovable, and it was so nice to read a book that had Middle-aged adults at the helm. They felt real and I rooted for them! Very excited for the next book when it comes out! Highly recommend for audio!
Up next for audio: I am about 25% of the way through Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott! I've picked this book up a couple of times, only to turn around and set it down for whatever reason. This time, second time trying on audio, I managed to push through the part that kept stumping me, and I like it so far! I am interested! I like Bellatine a lot, but still trying to find some connection to Issac. I am curious to see how this will all intertwine with each other because right now it feels like there's a lot trying to happen. However, the setting is dreamy and lush with imagery and fall vibes, so it's doing a great job for healing my heart, as I ache for the cooler weather, spookier vibes, and dreamy colors.
For physical books, I managed to get about 50 pages through Immortal Longings this weekend, and I wish I could find some more time to sit and read because I like it! The setting is gritty, the vibes are mysterious and what can I say, I love a good trial setting. Still getting to know the main characters, but I am rooting for them! Has the classic Chole Gong imagery, but a lot less dense, and I think the New Adult setting for her works well! I think it allows her to actually tell the story she wants to tell without being worried about it being too much for a younger audience. Hope she considers sticking in the genre!
Other fun news, we adopted our new kitten on Monday! He is about 5 months old, black short hair and the sweetest little guy. He's snoozing in his carrier while I work right now :D His name is BMO from Adventure Time! We're still a bit away from introducing him to our older cat Suki (from Avatar the Last Airbender!) but hopes are high and we are so happy :D
Anyways, thanks for tuning in! Back to your scheduled programming with Meg talking about Kendall Roy :D (Long asks for the win!)
OH HELL YEAH it's been a long time coming!! This makes me instantly want to pick up immortal longings, but I need to finish my current read first haha! Lovely to hear about Adventures of Amina al-sarafi, I bet audiobooks add a whole new dimension to the genre (I've heard so much about how yellowface would work best w a narrator, looking forward to try that out) and BMO 🥺 i hope he gets along well with suki, always ALWAYS a pleasure to hear about cats!! Im currently reading siren queen by nghi vo, I guess I'm still chasing the do tell vibes and so far it has been promising so let's see how that fares! A friend also highly recommended Naomi's Room and I think this is the perfect time to delve into horror so maybe I'll check it out soon, Still trying to convince myself to get started w house of leaves but for some reason I keep saving it for later lmao!

R Kalim Al-Asim PE Uniform Personal Story
"I can't just leave you alone"
Tumblr media
[Sports Field]
Kalim: Aaah~ I'm starving! Today's physical training was really hard.
Kalim: Doo-do-doo ♪ 'Kay, lunchtime~ …Huh?
Kalim: That little guy over there… That's definitely Idia's little brother Ortho, right?
Ortho: …
Kalim: Heeey, Ortho! What're you doing, moping over here all by yourself?
Ortho: Kalim Al-Asim-san… Hello…
Kalim: Hello― Hey, wait, what's wrong, you're really not looking good.
Kalim: If somethings bugging you, I can totally help!
Ortho: Actually, today my brother and I had plans to play outside today.
Kalim: You mean that Idia promised to play outside? That's great.
Ortho: Yeah. We were going to try out the new drone that my brother made to assess its performance, but…
Ortho: He was just unable to reach the rank rewards in his online game, so…
Ortho: He's super depressed, so I came out by myself.
Kalim: What's with that?! Just because he lost at a game… Keeping his promise to play with his brother should be much more important!
Ortho: Don't speak bad about my brother!
Kalim: !!
Ortho: Nii-san is a nice, smart, and an amazing brother. It's just, he's a little bit eccentric is all…
Kalim: …Oh, okay. Sorry, I didn't mean to speak ill of your brother.
Ortho: It's fine. As long as you understand.
Kalim: Alright. Then, do you wanna play with me in place of Idia?
Ortho: Eh! Is that okay!?
Kalim: Yeah! Whenever I'm down, I find that the best thing to do is to just let it all out.
Kalim: So, let's play with that dro―whatever it's called! I don't know what I need to do, though!
Ortho: If you're going to hang out with me, we can do anything. We can do what you like to do, Kalim Al-Asim-san!
Kalim: Oh, then, do you wanna dance?
Ortho: Dance…?
Kalim: If you dance to the beat of the music, all the bad stuff'll just fly away, y'know?
Ortho: That sounds fun! I've never danced before. I'd love to dance together with you!
Ortho: Okay, then I'll install some dance data right now.
Kalim: …Install?
Ortho: Yep. I don't have any data on how to dance in my programming yet.
Ortho: What kind of dance will we do? The waltz? The salsa? Breakdance?
Ortho: I don't really know, so I'll install all of it!
Kalim: Wow, you can just learn anything you want just like that? That's amazing!
Kalim: But it'll be no fun if you're able to dance perfectly from the get go.
Ortho: …Is that so?
Kalim: That's right. It's fun because you get better little by little by practicing!
Kalim: Besides, even if you don't know what to do at first, all you gotta do is move your body to the rhythm and you'll be fine.
Ortho: Hmmm. Are you sure I'll be able to learn that way? It doesn't sound very efficient.
Kalim: It'll be fine! I'll stick with you until you learn how to dance properly, Ortho.
Ortho: …
Ortho: …Ehehe.
Kalim: Why're you laughing all of a sudden?
Ortho: No reason. I was just thinking about how nice you are, Kalim Al-Asim-san.
Kalim: Really?
Kalim: I've got little brothers too, y'know. I can't just leave you alone and sad like that.
Ortho: You've got younger brothers, huh!
Kalim: Yeah, a ton of them! Another one was born just the other day, too.
Kalim: I have so many little siblings that I bet I could fill a whole dormitory!
Ortho: Wow! That many?
Kalim: Doesn't matter how many there are, younger siblings are the cutest.
Ortho: Eheheh. Your little siblings must be the luckiest!
[growl…]
Kalim: Ah. My stomach… Oh right, I didn't eat lunch yet.
Kalim: Then, I'm gonna go eat some of Jamil's home-made lunch before we start dancing. You should come too, Ortho!
Ortho: Yay!
Kalim: …Oh hey, what do you eat anyway, Ortho?

•author’s note: hi, guys! this is the first fic i’ve ever posted on tumblr, honestly was not expecting for it to be this long. i hope y’all enjoy!
“Damn it’s cold out here,” you muttered to yourself as you zipped your jacket up further, trying to cover your nose as much as possible before it went numb.
It was the fourth week of the new spring semester and with that meant the calm before the storm was over. The workload from your courses had ramped up, your first exams right around the corner, so you knew it was time to buckle down and get your head in gear.
Or at least try to.
“Coffee,” you thought to yourself. “I’ll go grab a coffee to motivate myself before heading to the library.”
The path to the university’s best cafe was bordered by numerous sports fields. As you passed by the bleachers, you noticed a familIar head of light auburn hair sitting amongst the rows of metal. Blinking once to make sure you were seeing correctly, you concluded it was in fact Nobara.
Changing directions, you made your way up the bleacher steps towards her. “Hey.”
Your friend turned towards you, a twinkle coming into her brown eyes. “Oh hey! What are you doing here?”
“I saw you and came over. I thought you were already at the library?”
“Maki wanted to come with us,” Nobara explained, wrapping her rather expensive looking parka further around herself. “I told her I’d wait for her practice to be over so we can head over together. I’m a good girlfriend like that.”
You laughed as you took a seat next to her. “I’m sure you are.”
The two of you could see Maki and the rest of her teammates running a few cool down laps, signaling their practice was pretty much over. A gust of wind blew past and you huddled closer to Nobara.
“Why are the lacrosse teams already having workouts? It’s late January, I thought this was a spring sport?”
“Maki said her coach wants to make sure they’re in shape and aren’t rusty at all before the season really starts. Both our men’s and women’s teams typically get nationally ranked, so the program has a reputation to uphold.”
“Look at you, dating a successful student athlete.”
Nobara smirked. “It’s what I deserve.” She then turned towards you, her smirk growing even wider. “And it’s what you deserve too. Look, here comes the men’s team.”
You turned your head to see that the boys were coming onto the field, the girls heading to the locker rooms to freshen up. You fought a little bit of a grimace as you watched most of the players roughhouse with each other, some yelling obscene things to amp themselves up as they grabbed their sticks and started running drills.
“Yeah right.”
“Oh come on! I’m not even into men and I can tell most of them are very attractive. Not to mention there are so many perks to dating an athlete… stamina being one of them.”
“Stop,” you groaned, cheeks heating up despite the cold as you hid your face in your hands.
Nobara smiled, pleased with the effects of her teasing. “But in all seriousness, you need to get back out there. It’s been almost a year since you even went on a date, and look at you! You’re too pretty to be single. I’m sure if you struck up a conversation with any of those guys they’d be more than happy to get to know you.”
You sighed. Your best friend had a point. It’d been forever since you had any sort of love life. However, you were by no means desperate.
And you would have to be desperate to ever entertain the idea of dating a lax bro.
Handsome, they were, but for every ounce of good looks they had twice as much audacity. Most of them were absolute fuckboys and huge jerks. Your roommate, Miwa, once talked to one of the team’s attacks, Noritoshi Kamo. He sweet-talked her for a month, got her into his bed, and then ghosted her immediately after. That was all the confirmation you needed on whether or not the stereotypes surrounding lacrosse boys were true.
Pulling yourself out of your thoughts, you turned your gaze to Nobara. “Oh, I’m sure they’d want to get to know me. Things like my bra size, what color panties I have on, whether or not I’m a virgin, how ma-“
“Oh come on, are you thinking about what happened to Miwa again?”
“… Yes.”
The auburn-haired girl huffed. “Okay, yes, the lax bro stereotypes came about for a reason. Exhibit A being Noritoshi. However, you need to remember that stereotypes don’t always apply to every member of that group.”
“Oh yeah, give me one example of a lacrosse player who isn’t a hotheaded, loudmouthed fuckboy.”
Nobara looked to the field, and you watched as the most menacing grin stretched onto her lips. “Oh, I am so glad you asked that.”
Her finger extended towards a boy standing a little further from the huddle of players on the field, and since no one had their helmets on you were able to make out a sea of messy black hair.
“That’s Megumi Fushiguro,” She explained. “He’s a friend from freshman year english. You said to give you a lax bro that isn’t a hothead or a loudmouth or a fuckboy? Well Megumi is one of the calmest and quietest people I’ve ever met. Not to mention I’d be shocked if he’s ever even seen a girl topless before.”
“I don’t need to know about this random guy’s sex life!” You exclaimed as you continued to watch this Megumi person. He was shooting a ball back and forth from his stick to his teammate’s, some guy with pinkish hair. You absentmindedly leaned a little closer towards the field, taking in more of what you could of Megumi’s appearance. From this far away, you could tell his skin was on the fairer side, and he seemed rather tall with some lean muscles. Not bulky, but not skinny either. His body was… admittedly very nice.
“All that protesting for you to be checking out the first guy I point out to you.”
Your eyes immediately snapped towards Nobara. She laughed at the pout you wore on your face. “Fun fact, he’s actually related to Maki. That’s how I met her, Megumi introduced us.”
“Wait, really?” You looked at Megumi again. You’ve always thought highly of Maki, and her relationship with Nobara was nothing short of what one would consider “couple goals”. If he’s related to her then Megumi couldn’t be too bad, right?
You watched as the man of interest walked off the field, heading towards a table with various water bottles and energy bars. Your shoulders slumped in defeat. “Do you promise me he’s not a jackass?”
“I pinky promise, now go get ‘em, tiger.”
Getting up from your seat, you headed to where Megumi was standing as he took a drink of water. As you got closer you could see that his face was just as nice as his body. He had a more matured pretty boy face, and as he sensed you nearing him he turned and the deepest, darkest blue eyes you’d ever seen met yours.
You froze for a second. Fuck, you couldn’t just stand here and look awkward, say something quick!
“Hi!” You said quickly, a small smile forming on your lips.
The look on his face was nothing short of confused. “Hi?”
This exchange was definitely going to be awkward regardless. What you wouldn’t give to have Nobara’s confidence. You decided mentioning your best friend could be the ice breaker you desperately needed.
“I was sitting over there with Nobara Kugisaki, she said you two are friends and that I should say hi. Megumi, right?”
“Yes.” He answered curtly, turning away from you. “Is there something you need?”
You blinked. “Um, no? Like I said I just wanted to introduce myself since we have a mutual friend.”
Your words were met with silence, Megumi not even making eye contact with you. He placed his water bottle down and started to head back towards the field.
“Uh, bye?” You called out.
He gave a slight wave of his hand at your words, his back facing you, and you felt yourself wanting to evaporate after having the worst first encounter of your college career.
——
A week had passed since your less than ideal interaction with Megumi. After recounting the incident with Nobara, she swore up and down that Megumi is stiff around new people, don’t be embarrassed, he’s just like that.
You were currently on the way to meet her for lunch. The weather of early February was surprisingly a tad bit warmer, so you were able to trade out your heavy jacket and jeans for a cute sweater with leggings.
Pushing the door to the student center open, you scanned the crowd before seeing Nobara sitting at a table near campus’s sushi place.
“Hey,” you said as you sat down across from her.
She quickly glanced up from her phone, smiling at your presence. “Ugh, I love seeing you wear the clothes I picked out for you. That color compliments you perfectly.”
“Thanks,” you smiled as you set your bag down. You quickly glance around to see that your table was rather big for only two people. As a matter of fact, there were extra backpacks surrounding it as well as… lacrosse sticks?
“We got the food!” An enthusiastic voice boomed out as a pink-haired boy sat down next to Nobara.
“Wha-“
“Don’t worry I told them what your favorites are,” Nobara stated as she readied her chopsticks.
You were about to ask who this extra person was before recognition flashed to the front of your mind. This was the guy practicing lacrosse the other day with…
You stilled as you felt someone next to you. Turning your head, you were met with none other than Megumi himself sitting down next to you.
“Okay, Nobara said he’s a little standoffish towards new people. Maybe since I’m not as new of a person anymore he’ll be more receptive.”
“Hey,” you offered him.
He gave you a slight nod in response, but other than that kept his eyes on his shrimp tempura rolls.
So much for that.
You fought the urge to let out a sign and turned towards the other boy, who was currently being scolded by Nobara for almost getting soy sauce on her sleeve. He turned his head when he felt your gaze on him and gave a big smile.
“Hi! My name’s Yuji! You’re ____, right?”
You nodded, giving him a smile in return. “That’s me, nice to meet you.”
The four- well, three- of you ended up falling into a steady conversation. While Megumi didn’t contribute much, it was nice to talk to Yuji. He was very warm and friendly.
“So both of you are on the lax team?” You asked.
“Yeah, Megumi and I both play middie!”
“That’s short for midfielder, right?”
Before Yuji could reply, Megumi’s voice cut him off. “What else would it be short for?”
You paused. His words were…kind of condescending, but if he was going to start adding to the conversation then you were going to take the opportunity to talk to him some.
Angling yourself towards Megumi, you pointed at his lacrosse stick. “Your stick is longer than Yuji’s, why is that?”
“Because I play long stick middie,” He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which, the title was pretty self explanatory, but he didn’t have to rub that in.
You frowned.
The first time you talked to this man, he was nothing but absolutely standoffish, which you could slightly understand- you were a stranger to him, he didn’t owe you anything.
However, now you were hanging out in a group setting with mutual friends, and he was continuing to give you the cold shoulder. That was grating on your nerves. And the rude remarks? Yeah, no thanks.
You decided then and there that you did not like Megumi Fushiguro.
Eyes hardening, you leveled a glare at the dark-haired man. You wanted to bite back at him, but considering he still wouldn’t even make eye contact, you figured it wasn’t worth it.
You turned back to your food, taking a roll into your mouth. Yuji and Nobara exchanged a glance, sensing the tension. The pinkette decided to try and break it.
“So… nice weather we’re having for February, right?”
____
Nobara and Yuji had a handful of classes together this semester, meaning they were spending a lot more time together. To your delight, this meant you also got to see Yuji more often, as he was one of the sweetest guys you’d ever met.
To your dismay, that also meant you saw Megumi more often, for him and Yuji were a package deal just as much as you and Nobara were.
The more you learned about the two of them, the more you realized you were wrong about lax bros. Yuji was great, but Megumi?
He was still a total asshole, just on the other end of the spectrum from what you had generalized.
Two days ago the four of you had been studying together, and he was explaining a chemistry concept to Yuji when you asked if he could repeat the term he just used. He proceeded to look at you for a second and go back to talking to Yuji as if you hadn’t even opened your mouth.
You almost snapped your pencil in half.
And then there was last week. You passed him on the way to your genetics lecture and ended up tripping on a rock because you weren’t paying attention (definitely had nothing to do with the fact you were looking at Megumi’s jawline). He proceeded to not even turn back to see if you were okay, much less offer help.
You sighed, shaking your head clear of any thoughts related to the dark-haired male. Breathing in the fresh air, you continued down the path of the park that was located next to your university. The sun was beaming down on your face, and you figured taking some time to yourself and going on a nice walk would do you some good after having three exams this week.
The sound of heavy panting then filled your ears, and you turned to see that a fluffy, white dog had started to trot along next to you.
“Oh, hello there!” You cooed at the dog, leaning down to offer pets. The soft tufts of fur felt soothing as they passed between your fingers, and the canine seemed more than happy to have your attention.
“So that’s where he went,” a familiar voice said, and you froze.
You stood back to your full height, meeting the eyes of Megumi- who, for once, actually maintained eye contact.
“This is your dog?”
“Yeah, his brother is right here.”
You looked to see another dog, identical to the one next to you but having midnight black fur instead, standing a little behind Megumi.
“I never knew you had dogs.”
“That would require me having to tell you I had dogs.”
You rolled your eyes. “Oh, right. Go figure, I forgot that you maybe say a total of two sentences to me a week.”
Megumi actually looked surprised at your response. You realized you usually held your tongue when Yuji and Nobara were around, but without them you could bite back at the boy before you as much as you want.
“Do you want to pet the other one, too?”
You blinked. That wasn’t the response you were expecting.
“Uh, yeah sure.”
Megumi whistled, the black dog perking up at him to see the dark-haired man extend his finger towards you. The furry canine then happily padded over to you, tail swishing back and forth as you gave him the same affection you extended to the other.
“I rescued them when I was a freshman.” You looked to Megumi when you heard him begin to speak. “They were in some random box in downtown. Only six weeks old. I took them to the vet and thankfully they didn’t have any serious illnesses or injuries. After making sure they were healthy I brought them back to me and Yuji’s dorm. We were able to hide them for a while but eventually our RA caught on, he didn’t care though.”
You smiled, both at the sweet story and at the fact this is the most Megumi has ever spoken to you. Maybe after you commented on it, he felt bad? Whatever the reason for him being more social, you were grateful for it.
Even though you haven’t been particularly fond of Megumi, you didn’t want to dislike him. You hung out with the same people, you were sure it would be a weight off both Yuji’s and Nobara’s shoulders if they saw you two getting along. Yes, that is why you were happy to be talking with Megumi.
Not because even when you thought he was a jerk you still couldn’t help but find him attractive as hell.
“Well, they seem really sweet, you’ve done a great job with them!”
As if you weren’t already caught off guard enough, you felt your heart skip a beat when Megumi actually smiled at you- only because it was unexpected, of course! Not because he had one of the nicest smiles you’d ever seen.
“Thanks.”
You turned your gaze back to the dogs as you felt your face heat up. Giving the both of them a few more ear scratches, you motioned back to where you came from.
“It was nice meeting your dogs, I’ve got to get back to my apartment though. I have an assignment due tonight.”
“Alright, I’ll see you later.”
You two turned to go your separate ways before Megumi’s voice stopped you again. “Wait.”
You looked back over your shoulder at him. “Yeah?”
“Uh… Yuji and I have our first big game Friday night. I was just wondering if you were planning on going.”
“Yeah! Nobara, Maki, and I are all going.”
He nodded before offering one more wave before walking away. You did the same, and tried to ignore the feeling in your chest that was way too warm and fuzzy.
____
The lights illuminating across the lacrosse field showed the two teams coming onto the grass. The attacks readied themselves in their zone while the midfielders and defenders took their various places across the field.
“What are their jersey numbers again?”
“Yuji is #20 and Megumi is #10,” Nobara answered as Maki wrapped a blanket around the three of you, protecting against the chill of the winter evening.
Scanning the sea of players, you spotted the two of them standing somewhat closer to the field’s center.
You heard a whistle blow, and one member from each team came forward to engage in a face-off. You heard your friends cheer as Jujutsu University ended up getting the ball first, Yuji winding up with the ball in his stick as he raced towards the other team’s goal, checking opponents as he went.
“Damn,” You said. “I never would have expected Yuji to get rough like that.”
“I know right, he becomes a totally different person when he plays.”
“It’s like a demon takes over his body or something.”
Your eyes flitted over to where Megumi was, spotting the block number 10 on the back of a navy blue JU jersey. He was moving swiftly around the field, weaving in between the opposing team so easily it was as if they were mere shadows instead of solid people.
A JU attack got close to the goal, and you felt yourself tense with anticipation at the thought of your team scoring. Suddenly an opposing defender tried to take the ball, but was stopped abruptly when Megumi scooped the guy’s legs up with his stick and literally flipped the person.
You gawked.
“What the hell was that?” Nobara asked from beside you.
“Megs just flipped the guy.” Maki answered.
“Yeah I saw that, is that legal?”
“In men’s yes, women’s no.”
“… that’s some bull.”
You were hardly paying attention to their conversation, gaze glued to Megumi. He must be really strong to flip a whole person like they’re an omelet.
Really, really strong.
“I wonder what else he’d be able to manhand-“
A choir of cheers sounded out, and you were pulled from your thoughts to see that your team had scored. You joined Maki and Nobara in clapping.
The game continued on, lacrosse being a much more entertaining sport than you originally expected, and eventually the game came to close. Jujutsu University took a 17-11 victory.
Your trio made their way to the fence separating the field from onlookers as the boys approached from the other side.
“Good job, guys, you played great,” Maki complimented.
“Of course they did, they had us! Their good luck charms.”
“Congratulations on the win,” you told Yuji, then turning to look at Megumi only to see he was using his shirt to wipe some sweat off his forehead, midriff exposed.
His midriff that sported a very nice, defined set of abdominals.
You turned your gaze back to Yuji quickly before you could get caught staring. “Were you guys worried at all before the game.”
The pinkette rubbed the back of his head. “Nah, Coach Gojo told us we had this in the bag.”
“With all of the ridiculous drills he made us run, he better have.”
Megumi was now standing next to you, on the other side of the fence. You gave him a soft smile.
“Well, the drills paid off. You looked great out there.”
You saw him swallow, and if it wasn’t nighttime you would have maybe noticed the faint tinge of pink that came onto his cheeks. “Thanks.”
____
“GUYS,” Yuji yelled as he ran over to your table in the courtyard. The mid March weather was pleasant, so you found yourself sitting with Nobara, Maki, and Megumi at a picnic table outside.
“What is it, Yuji?” Nobara asked before taking another sip of her boba.
The pinkette slammed his hands on the table, a wide grin on his face. “I have moves for this weekend. That you guys have to attend.”
“Mandatory moves?” You quirked an eyebrow.
“Yes, because it's a party being thrown in my honor!”
“His birthday is next week,” Megumi explained.
“Not just any birthday! It’s my golden birthday! I’m turning 20 on the 20th! So Todo is throwing a rager for me at his frat’s satellite house.”
You haven’t been to many parties this semester, for your classes have kept you much busier than before. However, you need to let loose once in a while, right? And it was Yuji’s birthday party, so you couldn’t just miss it.
“I’ll be there.”
“That means we’ll be there too,” Nobara added on behalf of her and Maki.
With your nose in your textbook, you didn’t see how Megumi glanced over at you before stating. “I’m down.”
You peered back up from your work to see Maki, Nobara, and Yuji all wearing similar smirks. You frowned, for the three of them always seemed to be exchanging these looks with each other and it made you feel like they knew something you didn’t.
You assumed maybe they were just happy that you and Megumi got along now, but didn’t want to actually say anything out loud in case it would be awkward.
At the thought of the long stick middie sitting next to you, you couldn’t help but crack a smile. You and Megumi had gotten a lot closer over the past month. He was a little more open about himself to you now, allowing the two of you to bond over similar interests like novels and animals. He also proved to be rather helpful, actually explaining homework problems to you now instead of brushing you off.
On top of that, you two ran into each other at the park practically every week now, him and his dogs even walking you back to your apartment if it was dark by the time you were heading home.
You weren’t sure what turned the tide in your dynamic with Megumi Fushiguro, but you were happy it happened.
Sometimes a little too happy, if your late night thoughts had anything to say on the matter.
____
“You better take that shot now because the uber is gonna be here in ten minutes.”
You threw the shot back, the coconut rum flowing down your throat as you placed the little glass back on the counter.
You joined Nobara and Maki in the bathroom, ending your pregame session with a pre-party mirror selfie, which was mandatory when going out for the night with your best friend. The couple examined the photo.
“____, you look good.”
You giggled, turning a little bashful at their praise, but kept your composure nonetheless. Because they were right, you did look good.
Donning your favorite outfit, the one that accentuates your figure perfectly, you were a sight for sore eyes.
“Okay, we need to head out,” Nobara stated. “I’m bringing my keys. Does everyone’s phone have a good charge?”
“Yes, Mom,” you say as you move past her out the door of her townhome and towards the car waiting at the curb.
The drive to the house was quick, and the three of you were entering the party before you knew it. Base thrummed through the floorboards, No Hands blaring from the speakers. Neon colors illuminated the room from the LEDs, and you followed behind your friends as they paved the way through the sea of bodies. Yuji was right. Todo did throw an absolute rager, because personal space in this house was currently nonexistent.
After grabbing some pj, the three of you found a spot on the dancefloor that didn’t seem to be as crowded. You had entered the party already slightly buzzed from the pregame, and considering how strong Todo’s frat made their pj, you were sure that you have a warm but manageable drunk going on soon.
When the song changed to a slower, less hype song, Nobara paused.
“Who is on aux? Because this sucks- you know what? I’m gonna go take over aux, I’ll make sure to play songs Yuji actually likes too.”
With that, your already tipsy best friend was setting off in search of the aux cord, Maki following after her. You were about to go with them before you spotted some familiar figures by the pong table.
You made your way over quickly. “Happy birthday!”
Yuji tossed his ball, throwing his hands up in celebration when he succeeded in bouncing the ball into one of the red solo cups, thus getting two out of the way. He then turned and gave you a quick side hug. “Hey, glad you could make it!”
“Come, brother! We must win this game!” A large, muscular man who you assumed was Todo said from next to the pinkette.
You figured you wouldn’t distract the duo from their game any further, so you wandered away slightly only to feel a tap on your shoulder. You looked up to see your favorite- favorite?- pair of deep blue eyes.
“Megumi!” You said, tipsily throwing your arms around him in a hug. He stiffened for a second before giving you a few pats on the back, you breaking away and giving him a lopsided smile.
“Hey, have you been alone this whole time?”
“No, I was with Nobara and Maki earlier but they went somewhere else. Something about the aux?”
“I see.”
“Yeah, and then I saw Yuji over here and I came over and I was like ‘happy birthday’ and he was like ‘ayo’ but I didn’t want to distract them from the their game because they seem to take pong really seriously so I wandered this way and ran into you!”
Megumi chucked, seemingly amused by how you turned into a slight chatterbox when under the influence of alcohol. It was cute, seeing you get even more bubbly and expressive.
“Did you finish that book I recommend to you?”
“Yeah!” Another sip of pj. “What the hell was up with that ending?”
“I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who found it unsatisfactory.”
“It was awful! It completely contradicted the main theme of the story! You’re telling me this is supposed to be a feminist novel but the main girl drowns herself at the end because the guy didn’t want her back?”
“My thoughts exactly.”
You had moved slightly closer to Megumi during your tirade, and were now leaning on him for support in your alcohol-induced state. He didn’t seem to mind all too much, though. If anything he placed a hand on your shoulder to help keep you stable.
Your gaze flitted to his, brows furrowed in concentration. “Hey, ‘Gumi?”
He blinked at the new nickname, before meeting your eyes. “Uh, yeah?”
“We’re at Yuji’s birthday party, right?”
“Correct.”
“I don’t know your birthday.” You had a slight pout on your lips, too drunk to notice the way his eyes lingered on them. “When is it?”
“December 22nd.”
“Oh damn it already passed. Well, happy late birthday!”
He actually snorted at that. “Thank you, ____. That’s very nice of you.”
“You’re welcome!”
He was smiling more openly at you now, looking down at the goofy, giddy grin adorning your pretty face. You noticed him get a little more serious. “Hey, there’s some-“
“Yo, Fushiguro, get over here! We need you for a celeb shot!”
The two of you turned towards the pong table, seeing Yuji wave the dark-haired lax player over. Megumi seemed to hesitate in going over, wanting to appease the birthday boy but also not wanting to leave your side. “I’ll be right back, okay?”
“Go have fun! Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine!”
He gave you one last glance before heading over to Yuji. You stood there for a second, taking another sip from your almost empty pj cup before realizing it’s been a while since you’ve seen either Maki or Nobara.
Turning towards the direction you think you last saw them, you start walking that way. You stopped a few times to say hi to people you recognized, eventually rounding the corner and seeing a hallway to your right. You were about to pass it when you felt someone grab your wrist.
Some guy you didn’t know had a firm lock on you, and you gave him a dirty look. “Do you mind letting go of me?”
“You remember me, right?” He asked, words slurred and in complete ignorance of your request.
“I have no idea who you are, please let go.”
This guy was pretty far gone, for he seemed to be mistaking you for someone you weren’t. You tried to tug yourself out of his hand, but for a guy this plastered he had a surprisingly strong grip on you. Trying to keep calm, you tried once more.
“Please let go of me.”
“Awe come on, baby. Don’t be like that.”
The pet name sent a wave of dread through you, and the realization that you were in danger practically catapulted you back into sobriety. Before you could make another move, you found your other wrist being grabbed onto as the stranger dragged you further into the hallway, away from the eyes of people. You let out a shout, but it was drowned out by the music filling the house.
You felt your back hit the wall as you were shoved up against it, the man leaning his face much too close to yours. He gave a grin that was nothing short of predatory, reminding you of a cat that finally caught the canary.
Closing your eyes, you turned your face away from him, but that proved to be a mistake because then he just found purchase in your exposed neck. Tears brimmed your lash line as fingers toyed with the hem of your top.
“Get the fuck away from her.”
The stranger was ripped away from you before you could even process it, your eyes going wide as you watch Megumi slam your assailant up against the opposite wall.
The guy sputtered out a cough at the impact. “What the hell, man? Fucking cockblock, put me down.”
“Like hell I’m letting you touch her,” Megumi practically growled out, pressing the other man further into the wall as if to somehow create even more space between you and him.
“What? She your bitch or something?”
You felt your chest tighten at the remark, and to your surprise the lacrosse player let the guy down from the wall.
Only to then punch him so hard across his face that it sent the guy reeling to the floor.
Your mouth was agape. You’ve never seen Megumi so… feral. Not even on the field. He turned towards you, the look on his face close to being murderous, only for it to soften when his eyes landed on you. He took a step forward, fingers tracing lightly across your wettended cheeks- oh, so you did start crying at some point.
“Are you alright?”
You nodded, teary eyes gazing up at him as he pulled you into his chest, letting you huddle into him as his arms folded across your back. He rested his lips against your skin, speaking into the crown of your head.
“I’m assuming you don’t have any of your stuff with you?”
You shook your head, speaking in a voice barely above a whisper. “All of my stuff is at Nobara’s, and I don’t have a key. The only thing I have on me is my phone.”
Megumi hummed in acknowledgment, and you were surprised he was able to hear you over the music. “Would you be comfortable going to my place? My roommate can come pick us up, he was going to dd for Yuji and I tonight anyways.”
You nodded your head, voice cracking as you spoke again. “Please, ‘Gumi, I just wanna get out of here.”
He led the two of you outside, keeping you close to him for warmth as he texted his roommate, Toge, to come get the two of you. Ten minutes had passed before a silver car pulled up to the curb, Megumi ushering you inside as he closed the door behind the two of you. You kept yourself pressed to his side, not wanting to be too far from him because right now, Megumi was the safest thing you knew.
____
The clock on the bedside table read 9:59 AM, yet it still felt too early to you. You laid your head back on Megumi’s chest, already being engulfed in his arms as he held you against him beneath his coal grey covers. It took some convincing for him to sleep in the bed with you, insisting that he could take the couch, but eventually you won him over.
You felt him stir slightly, dark blue eyes opening for the first time that day. Long fingers then touched the back of your head, cradling it to him.
“Are you awake?”
“Sadly. I don’t wanna get up, your bed is too comfy.”
He chuckled. “I’m glad you think so. Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah.” You tilted your head towards him more. “Thank you, ‘Gumi. If it weren’t for you, who knows what that guy would’ve done.”
“I wasn’t going to let him hurt you. I shouldn’t have left you alone in the first place.”
“Don’t blame yourself. You had no idea something like that would happen.”
He let out a dissatisfied hum at your words, and you knew he was acknowledging your words without actually accepting them. You gave him a look, remembrance coming to the front of your mind.
“Megumi?”
“Yes?”
“Before… all of that… went down last night, you said you had to tell me something? What was it?”
He stiffened. “Oh yeah, that. Well, uh,” The dark-haired male then cleared his throat as he gathered his words together. “I was just going to apologize for how things first started between us. If I’m being honest, when you first came up to me I was a little intimidated because you’re… very attractive, so if I was acting standoffish it’s because I didn’t know how to talk to you without possibly looking stupid. It wasn’t until the park that I realized my behavior seemed to actually be upsetting you, so I tried harder to be more talkative with you.”
“Apology accepted, then,” You replied, a smirk curling onto your lips. “So… you think I’m attractive.”
“I do. If it isn’t already obvious, I really like you.”
“Between the fact you’re cuddling me as we speak and the way you decked that guy last night, yeah I kind of put two-and-two together.”
“Getting that guy off of you was simply the right thing to do, how did that give anything away?”
“You left him unconscious on the floor.”
“… Hm.”
You let out a soft chuckle, lifting your head up to look at him. A smile was shared between the two of you before you softly pressed your lips to his, Megumi’s large hands coming to frame your face. Pulling away, he spoke.
“So are you going to let me take you out, or no?”
“Yeah, I’ll give you a shot,” You answered, beaming at him.
“You’re not too bad for a lax bro.”

Part 2 - ending
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"ah, so you're the human I've been hearing so much about."
You turned around to see a Noble, you bowed at him with a smile.
"oh- hello, who are you? If the human you've been hearing about is (Y/N) then Yep! That's me!"
"splendid! I'm so glad I finally get to meet you, I've heard so much from Diavolo and news sources, you wouldn't mind humouring me for a dance and talk?"
"it'll be my honour." You took his arm, letting him guide you to the dance floor.
You could feel the brothers eyes on you, watching closely to how you rested your hands on the demons shoulder. All of them slowly stalking as you two danced.
"what is it like being a human in the Devildom?"
"scary...at first but now I feel like it's my home! I really can't imagine being anywhere else."
"free housings, connections to the most powerful beings in this realm and outside, pacts with the the 7 brothers and having them do anything you desire."
"I mean- I guess? It's nothing like that or that I'm using them, it's a long story - I love them all very much."
"you may not be using them but they're definitely using you, we're demons after all and there is nothing more precious to us than a soul likes yours."
You were suddenly pulled through the crowd, his dancing becoming quicker and sharp as if sensing the brothers watching him.
"don't you realize you're just the princes pawn? A small piece of a puzzle of his 'plans' - do you really think a demon of his importance would really care about bringing peace?! It's all but a ruse and you're just helping him fulfil it."
"that's not true! Diavolo is a kind and thoughtful man, he wants peace and I will be a stepping stone for that to happen - after all I am a link to all three realms."
"human with demon pacts and ancestral connections to both the brothers and angels - how is it being the ancestor to Lilith? I heard she was a real doll but such a shame she risked it all for some moral, have they ever compared you two?"
"how do you know about my ancestor? They've- never properly made a comparison and I'm sure they mean it in an affectionate way-!"
"don't you ever feel like a replacement? I heard since the discovery they've treated you even better, that can't be a coincidence."
Your blood went cold as your heart collapsed into your stomach. Your eyes glancing to the brothers In the distance. You knew he wasn't right but apart of you was scared. After all, he knew so much that you didn't think anyone outside of your social circle would know. How did he know all this?
"we went through something really traumatic together, it was bound to make us closer-"
"just admit it, you know you're being use but you just won't accept it because you're scared of facing and truth and being left - is there something unpleasant waiting for you in the human world? Is that why you're so willing to be preyed upon?"
"it's not like that..."
He suddenly dipped you, you clutched to his shoulder as tears glazed your eyes.
"isn't it? Can you confidently say it isn't?"
"yes.." your voice came out shaky and distant, you wanted to be confident but you couldn't.
"they don't care about you, all they want is to use you, make it easier on yourself and leave, run as fast as you can and never come back to the devildom."
Lucifer:
He was the first to reach you after your dance with the Noble
He twirled you so you would face him
"what did he say to you? You're crying."
"it's nothing..."
He opened his mouth to press on but he saw you grit your teeth
Glaring at the dance floor as you two stepped to the music
"If he threatened you then I'll handle him, it's no issue for me to do so."
You just shook your head
"stop being so overprotective, I know you don't actually like having to look after me, just stop forcing yourself."
"That's not true, I look after you because I care about you, it's become more than a duty."
You just clicked your tongue, pushing yourself away from him, disappearing into the crowd
Mammon:
Mammon held your hand, hugging you from behind as you two swayed
"You don't look too happy, are you overwhelmed?"
"I am now that you're here."
Which wasn't a lie, you felt so conflicted and betrayed, having him around just made you want to cry
He frowned, spinning you around
"oi, what's that all about? If I did something you gotta be honest with me,I swear I didn't steal nothing."
"I'd prefer it if you did, then being mad at you wouldn't feel so horrible."
He raised a brow
He was completely confused on why you were acting like this
"Was it that noble guy? Did he say something to you? I swear when I find him-"
You shook your head, moving away from him
"You're not going to do anything, you're a coward - just stop pestering me."
You felt awful but you didn't do anything to fix it, just running away from the shocked demon
Levithan:
"You here to take a break? Join you, I will."
He pointed to the empty spot smiling at himself for his Yoda voice
You wanted to feel bad but right now you were extremely upset
"Yeah, I do, I don't want to be around anyone right now."
"I get that but Lucifer said someone's has to be with you but I don't blame you for not wanting me to do it-"
You snarled
"can you not make this about you?! I just don't wanna deal with anymore demons!"
You shuffled closer into yourself, eyes subconsciously finding the noble you talked to
Levi followed your gaze, his Insecure angst turning into annoyance
"That noble did something....it's okay to speak up, we can go to prince-"
"go away! I don't want to keep hearing you pretend to care about me!"
He was stunned
You suddenly stood up and trudged away from Levi, seeking out the bathroom
Satan:
You ducked away from the crowd of demons
Sticking close to the wall as you clutched your arms
The nobles clawing at your mind as you stared to the side
"Did you enjoy the dancing? You look tired, I know a good hiding spot."
"Where is it?"
"I'll take you there-"
He went to grab your shoulder but you just shrugged him away
Not daring to look at him
"just tell me where it is, I'll get there on my own just fine."
Satan turned his head, trying to get a better look at your expression
But you just stepped away from him
"if you're not going to tell me I'm going to go find it myself-"
He grabbed your wrist, cutting you off
"Was it that noble? What did he say to you?"
His anger flared as he glared at the noble
You Yanked your wrist away, frowning
"wouldn't you like to know?! Just let me- just let me breathe-!"
He paused, inhaling a deep breath
You took that moment to run off, wanting to escape the situation
Asmodeus:
"oh (Y/N)~!! I'm so glad you're finally free, when I saw that guy dancing with you I got so jealous, I thought you were going to give me all your dances?"
He playfully pouted whilst holding your hands
When he saw you weren't smiling his chipper mood immediately dropped
You moved away from him, Unable to pull your thoughts together
"what's wrong..? Did he say something?"
You shook your head
Should you tell him? But what if they treat you different?
What if it really is all a fake?
"I just need to get some air."
"oh! I'll come with you!"
He springed up, grabbing your hand once again
You threw yourself back in panick
"NO-! I mean- no thank you."
You quickly dashed to the nearest balcony ignoring the murmurs in the ballroom
Beezlebub:
You bumped into one of the many buffet tables
Avoiding an active ballroom wasn't easy
"you're not dancing anymore? Want to sit with me?"
You jumped, somehow surprised Beel was at a buffet table
"no....I'm good, I'm going to the dorm."
"Already? Do you need me to walk you home? It's pretty late."
You shook your head
You wanted to chew him out for being so kind of you
Your overwhelming emotions rising as you tried to stay dismissive
"Just tell the Brothers I'm leaving, I think I'm going to head back home."
Beel raised a brow
You looked away from his confused expression
"my real home, I need to leave the Devildom."
"you're upset from your dance with the noble, we can talk about instead of you leaving-"
"I need a break."
You repeated, your voice becoming irritated and cold
You held back your frustration and left the party
Belphegor:
"Are you leaving?"
You yelped, knocking your hand on the main door
You just wanted to slip out of the party but it seems you'd have to confront one of the brothers
Belphegor yawned, rubbing his eye
He was sleeping in the coat closet until you woke him up by your footsteps
"yes- I'm tired of this party."
"I'm tired aswell, let's go together, I'm ready to sleep."
He shuffled out of the closet but you put your hands out Infront of you
"go sleep in the palace, I don't want to be around you or-or any of you-!"
"Was it that noble? I felt jealous when I saw you two dancing together but now it seems I shouldn't of, he said something to you, didn't he? What did he say?"
You didn't even realize he saw you or was awake when that happened
You backed up until you bumped into the door
Belphegor cornered you
Wanting his questions answered but you just shoved him back
"leave me alone-! I know you're just see me as an replacement!"
You slammed the door after you and sprinted back to the dorms
UNDATEABLES↓
Diavolo:
"I see you're expanding your circle, I'm glad- why do you look so upset?"
"it's nothing, my Lord-"
You both stopped
You haven't referred to him like that since the beginning of the exchange program
He leaned down to get a better look at you, eyes darting over the conflicted and slightly Horrified expression
Both of your gazes landed on the noble
"What did he say to you? If he made you uncomfortable or threatened you, I'll deal with this-"
He tried to give you a comforting pat on the shoulder but you pushed your body away
"Quit it! Stop trying to act like you care."
You were sure if people saw your interaction they'd be glaring at you
Thinking of your audacity
But Diavolo was worried about you
He knew that Nobel has hurt you
"I do care for you, we all do - please tell me what happened."
You covered your ears, tears pricking your eyes
You shook your head and ran away
Needing space to figure out your thoughts and your emotions
Barbatos:
You trudged past Everyone, growing irritated with yourself
Were you really going to believe that guy? But it seemed to make sense
If it wasn't right then why did you feel this way?
"here, you look as if you need it."
He hands you a handkerchief
You took it slowly, looking at him with distrust
You frowned as he just smiled at you patiently
"why do you even care? Is it because of the prince?"
"I'm simply helping because I desire to, it seems Someone is causing an issue with you."
"Don't you know everything? You should know exactly what's wrong....you don't have to keep acting all vague in hopes it'll throw me off, I know you all are-"
He tilted his head, eyes squinting with an almost annoyed expression
"nevermind....Just leave me alone."
"I will but it is best to remind you that the Noble you're trusting Is not the type of man you want to be around, he is using you not the other way round."
Your froze
Unsure how to respond, you clutched the handkerchief as you gritted your teeth
You quickly ran off not wanting to confront your emotions
Solomon:
Isn't this Fun? I've even made a few pacts whilst here-"
"why are we even here? Do you ever feel like we're not actually wanted? Just being used?"
Your eyes flickered between Diavolo and the noble
Rubbing your arm as you tried to soothe yourself
Solomon followed your eyes
Clicking his tongue
"I see, that nobles gotten to your head, don't fear my apprentice, I'll fix this."
He rolled up his sleeves but you just grabbed his arm
You felt stupid for thinking you two could be on the same thought process
Was it really just the Nobel Getting to you???
But what you're feeling feels so real and so genuine - this feeling of just being a pawn or a replacement to them
"No...it's silly to think we'd be on the same page, they have much more history with you meanwhile all I have is being their sister's ancestor."
You walked off leaving the wizard to mewl over your words
You didn't stay to find out what would happen now that Solomon knew the gist of what the Nobel said to you
Simeon:
As you charged away from the party you suddenly bumped into Someone
Simeon grabbed your arms as he steadied you
But that's when he noticed your teary eyes
"Oh, what's wrong? You look upset."
"I want to leave this party."
You frowned, holding his arms whilst he held you
You glanced at the demons on the dance floor
"Are you sure? The brothers will be upset with your sudden disappearance-"
You huffed
Pushing yourself away from Simeon as. got ready to just leave by yourself
"if you don't take me back then I'll just go myself."
He was caught off by your sudden change in mood
Realizing something really harsh must of happened he grabbed your hands and wiped under your eye
"Wipe your tears, I'm sure Luke will be thrilled to see you in purgatory hall."
And just like that he walked you out of ball
A few shouts from the brothers rang in your eyes but you just sped up your pace
“Billy has improved. A lot.” Seated on Mrs. Martinez's office, you go over why Billy deserves a good recommendation letter. Half the teachers already agreed, much more because of you than because of him, but that's not the point. “He doesn't get a C since he started, he wants to be a Marine Biologist and he gets straight As on Biology and honestly, he's actually helping me on Chemistry.”
“I've been tracking his progress and I've been impressed with your work. Billy Hargrove is by far the best in the program.” She read some files, putting them down before looking up at you. “I also noticed that you two became very close.”
“Mmm, yeah... W-we're dating.” You stutter, clearing your throat. “But it doesn't change the fact that he's doing great. I mean, Billy does want to go to college and–”
“Don't worry about it. A student's love life isn't my business. I just mentioned it because it was impossible not to notice.” She smiles and you blush even more. “Well, I'll be happy to write him a good recommendation letter. But for the principal, it'll be good if you get some of Billy's friends to make some reports. But we can arrange it immediately if you want. The Principal is in a meeting but I can let you know as soon as he's available if you manage to get some people right now.”
You stand up, smiling. “I can. Thank you so much.” Mrs. Martinez got that urgency of the matter, and you're more than eager to keep that up. “I'll gather some people and whenever you're ready I'll be at the parking lot.”
“Sounds good.”
“Alright.” With another ‘thank you’, you rush outside, walking fast to the parking lot. Billy is leaning against his car, and Nancy and the others are near Steve's car, a couple of feet away.
“Princess of Hawkins number two. Are we going or not?” Steve asks, making Billy notice your presence. “I'm dying for some ice cream.”
“Actually, I need a huge favor from the three of you.” Keeping your voice soft, you walk over to Billy, standing next to him. The stick on his mouth gets your attention, and you raise an eyebrow at him. “Is that my lollipop? That I was saving up?”
“...No.” He mutters, with a half-smile as he takes the candy off his mouth. “Maybe. But we can share.” Billy gives you the lollipop and you roll your eyes, biting back a smile before putting it into your mouth. And for some reason, Billy has that stupid smirk on his face
“That's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen,” Steve speaks up, getting your attention.
Looking at him, you shrug your shoulders. “What? I kiss that mouth, you know that, right?”
“And you do a great job doing it,” Billy whispers on your year before taking the candy once again.
“Alright. You, drop it.” With a finger on Billy's face, you take the lollipop from his mouth again. “I have something important to say.” Turning at your friends, you take a deep breath. “Mrs. Martinez agreed on writing a good recommendation letter for Billy. But to convince the Principal to do the same, she needs a couple of students to... Give some reports, you know. As witnesses that my handsome boyfriend is now an amazing student too.”
Steve bursts into laughter, covering his mouth with one hand as you stare at him. Arms crossed, an eyebrow raised. It takes long seconds until he stops. “What?” He stutters. “You can't possibly think I'll...” As he speaks, Steve looks at the others, and not Nancy or Jonathan seems to find it funny. “Oh, c'mon. I agreed on standing Billy, but I never agreed on giving good reports.”
“Steve, this is important.”
“(Y/N), c'mon. Billy isn't–”
“Billy has good grades now and that's what I'm talking about. You don't have to like him.” Walking over Steve, you touch his shoulder. “You don't have to do it if you don't want to, but we're trying to build our future. And if you find it in your heart to do this for me, I'll be very thankful.”
“God, you're so damn good.” Billy mutters, and you roll your eyes.
“Well...” Stepping back, you smile. “I could also kill Steve. Would you help me hide the body, B?”
“Ridiculous,” Steve mumbles, making you giggle. “Fine, (Y/N). Just because somehow you made a good boyfriend out of this scumbag.”
“I'd take that back if I were you,” Billy says, raising his voice a bit.
“Woah, back down.” It's not the first time the two have incidents like this, and you always have to calm them down. “You guys have to–”
“(Y/N).” Mrs. Martinez calls and you look to your left. She walks fast, smiling. “The Principal will see the students now. But you can't be inside the office for that. They'll be interviewed separately.”
“Alright.” Breathing out, you give Steve a look. “Don't say anything driven by your personal–”
“I won't.” Steve rolls his eyes.
Mrs. Martinez guides the three of them inside the school again, and you follow them, holding hands with Billy. “It'll work.” You tell him.
“It will.” He agrees, with the smile that belongs to you alone.
“Billy boy!” Someone yells and you soon recognize Tommy, with an arm around Carol's shoulders. “Forgot to tell you, buddy. Awesome party tonight at my place.” Tommy smiles and nods at you, and Carol does the same. “My parents aren't home so we'll go hard, all night long and I count on you to set the tone as we like it.” As he speaks, he gives you a weird look. “You don't have to come if you don't want, (Y/N). I know you don't really like it.”
“I'm not going without (Y/N), you know that,” Billy says, and Tommy rolls his eyes.
“C'mon, pal. I planned everything. Wild and dirty, as you like it. I'm sure (Y/N) won't mind you going by yourself, right (Y/N)?”
“I won't. He can–”
“Sorry, guys, I gotta go,” Tommy speaks out, cutting you off. “A lot of things to do. See you there. Bye, my friends.” Waving, both he and Carol walk away.
Billy starts walking again, but you hold his hands, forcing him to stop. “B, I want to go.” You tell him, sighing. These parties aren't your thing, even though you've been to some with Billy. Mostly when it's someone's birthday. But other than that, you've been skipping them. He likes them though, and you don't want to be the one to hold him back. “Let's party and do whatever he meant by wild and dirty.”
Billy giggles, pulling you close. “You have no idea what he meant by that, pretty girl. And you don't have to go, it's alright.”
“No, B. I know you have fun on those things and I really...” You don't want to lie, not to him. So you sigh, running a hand through your hair. “Just go, alright? Have fun with your friends and... I just... I don't want to be the one to keep you from doing stuff you like. You know I'm not... I'm not like you in many, many aspects but–”
“(Y/N), listen.” Billy takes both your hands, looking down at you. “I love you.”
“B...”
“Shhh. I love when you call me that but listen.” Cupping your cheeks, he places a quick, soft kiss on your lips. “I love you just like that. Good girl, with perfect grades and so damn polite and friendly that sometimes almost kills me of jealously.” He smiles, kissing your nose. “But I wouldn't change a thing about you. Your... Goodness was exactly what made me fall for you. You're... Everything I'm not. And I'm still perplexed that you love me back.”
You're a blushing mess when he's done speaking, eyes locked on his. “A-are you sure?”
“I am.” He nods, smiling. “Why go to some stupid party when I can stay with you?”
“I'll invite you to dinner then... Let's say... Pizza?”
“Pizza.” He agrees.
“Mr. Hargrove.” The teacher calls, and you both look at her. “The Principal wants to talk to you.”
“Right away.” He says, winking at you.
When Billy enters the Principal office, you wait outside, leaning against the wall. To say you're nervous is an understatement. The Principal's letter is the most important, and you know he needs it very much.
“Sweet (Y/N).” A masculine voice calls, and you immediately look to your left, leaving your bag on the floor. It's Tyler, coming from around the corner. “What are you doing here all alone?”
“What are you doing here? Detention again?” Tyler is the only one of Billy's friends you can't stand. You soon figured out he's more like a parasite, sticking close even though people don't really like him. But still, you try not to treat him like the asshole he is. But it doesn't mean you have to answer his questions.
“No, no.” He smiles, a disgusting smile that sends shivers down your spine. Not the good kind of shivers. “I had to leave something on my locker but now... I'm actually happy I got you alone.” Tyler walks over you, standing a bit too close, making you step back. “Now tell me, (Y/N). What are you doing here? ...All alone?” He leans closer, his mouth close to your ear.
You immediately move away, violently pushing his chest. Tyler always gives you this sensation, as if he's trying to get to you somehow. And you hate it. It makes you feel like you're completely naked under his stare. “What do you think you're doing?” You ask, anger flowing out. “Stay the hell away from me, you jerk.”
Tyler laughs. Out loud, mocking you. You're about to curse again him when it happens.
Tyler moves too fast, an arm encircling your waist. His grip is too strong, and it makes you violently collapse against his chest. “I've trying to get you for far too long, sweetie.” He grunts as you start fighting, pushing him away and still trying to understand what the hell is going on. “If Billy can have you, so can I. Or do you think–” He stops suddenly when you succeed to hit him in the ribs.
“LET GO OF ME!” You manage to push out, as loud as you can, your mind yelling for Billy. But before you can say it, call for him, a hand comes to your mouth, and Tyler's free hand starts wandering through your body.
You feel violated, abused already, but it doesn't matter how hard you try, he's stronger than you.
“Sweet (Y/N), let's...” He starts pulling you, and you do try to resist as much as you can. “...Let's find ourselves some nice supply closet and get more... Comfortable? What do you think, huh? Gonna show you how a man–”
“LET GO OF HER!” The scream, the voice that sounds like thunder, makes your whole body relax at the same time Tyler's grip loosens.
The rest is pure chaos.
Billy grabs Tyler and throws him to the ground. Someone pulls you away from the fight, and you soon recognize Nancy. In her embrace, you hide your face in her hair, and she helps as you fix your clothes.
Your mind is mess, and you can't even process what's happening.
The only thing you know is that you're safe now, away from that monster. And Billy is beating him up into a bloody mess.
