Home Idle 1: There are many stores I would like to peruse... But not while the film fest is ongoing. The overwhelming crowds would make it impossible to take my time and enjoy myself.

Home Idle 2: Fairest city is a place that many movie fans have dreamed of coming to. Most likely because some shops here tend to sell props that were used in actual films.

Home Idle 3: I saw Azul looking intently at some cosmetics. I do have to commend him on how he is always keeping up his self-care. But only that, understand?

Home Idle - Login: Perhaps it is because the Fairest Queen's traditional tales are rooted in this city, but the atmosphere here in the Fairest City is somehow soothing to my soul.

Home Tap 1: When it comes to Ace, I can't tell if he's just spoiled, or also slick... If he were a student from my dormitory, I would be disciplining him quite sternly.

Home Tap 2: If I were to take anyone here shopping with me, it would have to be Jamil. His initiative to carry the bags makes it a pleasant time.

Home Tap 3: There are still many enticing stores outside of the main shopping passage. I especially like the smoothie shop that only uses the best ingredients available.

Home Tap 4: During my time as a child actor, I had quite a few voice acting roles. I was also given the opportunity to learn a bit about animation techniques.

Home: Bein' in this super nice outfit's pretty nerve-wracking...

Home Idle 1: Man, high-brand clothes like this really are cool, huh～ One day, I'd love to walk into a store and say something like, "I'll take every outfit on this shelf!"

Home Idle 2: Azul-senpai's real meticulous, huh. He's buyin' a ton of souvenirs to give to people he wants to make connections with.

Home Idle 3: It's actually pretty hard to figure out how much makeup to use. Once, when I tried drawin' on my eyebrows while watching a how-to video, I made 'em way too thick and it looked pretty dumb...

Home Idle - Login: I thought I'd be super nervous hangin' out at a film fest with a ton of celebrities, but seein' my upperclassmen being their usual selves has kinda helped me calm down a bit.

Home Tap 1: Whenever Vil-senpai walks into a shop, all the manager tier folk just flock to greet him in a tizzy. That's a super popular influencer for ya!

Home Tap 2: I got this accessory thanks to Jamil-senpai's recommendation. It was a little cheap, but it's properly 925-stamped silver. Heh, I got something good.

Home Tap 3: Brand-name products are pretty awesome, but cosmetics get used up quick, right? So when it comes to that, I think I'm good with the cheap stuff.

Home Tap 4: I'm totally gonna brag about this high-brand couture fit forever! Gotta make sure to take care of it so it doesn't get dirty.

Home Tap 5: The hotel that the film studio set us up in was crazy gorgeous and amazing. This has been the experience of a lifetime!

Okay I don't really have the brainpower to go into a ton of detail about it right now, but I really wanna get people talking more about the genie references with Jamil.

Like, yes there's the whole Jafar parallel of seeking a genie of the lamp, which I think is very much a surface level conscious interest in the canon legends, the same way all the overblotters compare themselves and try to emulate one of the seven. But, the more significant parallel in my opinion is the way Jamil's skill, power, and unwilling servitude point to him actually being the genie in question.

Not the blue genie, I mean the red one that Jafar becomes. In the end of the first Aladdin movie, Jafar has his wish granted to become an all-powerful genie, and is subsequently trapped in a lamp and enslaved. He then spends the second movie manipulating the guy who became his master into acting on his behalf in a desperate attempt at freeing himself, and ultimately gets destroyed in the process. Jamil's blot phantom is a direct reference to Jafar's genie form, and so is everything else about Jamil and his circumstances with the Asims.

Like, it's mentioned several times that not only is he one of the most powerful mages in that school, but also that nobody can really tell exactly how powerful because he's never shown the full extent of it (y'know, like how Jafar's genie is insanely powerful, but can only act within the confines of other's commands, so that potential is never fully explored). Specifically, he's much more powerful and capable than Kalim, but can only really exercise those abilities on his master's behalf. Which brings me to the whole thing with Kalim always coming up with crazy over the top shit he wants, and impossible requests for Jamil to make that happen, which Jamil has no choice but to fulfill, and does so by being just, capable of shit to an unnatural extent.

So yeah, basically: Jafar's story ends with becoming an all-powerful genie, enslaved, and forced to manipulate his way to freedom, which he never gets to achieve and is destroyed in the process. -> Jamil, doomed by the narrative/twst-disney magic to parallel his story, is an excessively powerful mage trapped in servitude to people who use his abilities to fulfill their every whim, and is forced to manipulate whoever he can in an attempt at freedom which he fails to achieve and is almost destroyed in the attempt.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my ted talk. Jamil is the genie he's been seeking but it sucks for him just like it sucked for Jafar.

I’ve seen people say it’s the fault of Jamil’s parents that he has to act as a bodyguard to Kalim but I believe it’s Kalim’s parents’ fault. The Viper family is probably in a similar situation as Jamil, where if they mess up bad things will happen, Jamil just has more weight on his shoulders. The Al-Asim family would be responsible for choosing Jamil to protect Kalim.

Kalim was coddled all of his life due to the orders of his parents, and that’s not his fault. Jamil’s overblot was understandable, though. There was a strained dynamic between two boys who had known each other for all 17 years of their lives, put upon them by the Al-Asim family.

Also I feel bad for the hate Kalim sometimes gets for the way he acts. He was enabled and led to believe this was okay behavior for 17 years (which again, is the fault of his parents.) He’s just now learning to let Jamil and other people shine. 17 years of enabled behavior is difficult to get yourself out of, so I wish people would be a bit easier on him.

Just some thoughts I had earlier today.

azul who is utterly obsessed with getting Jamil jewelry. Pearls sea glass diamonds aquamarine rubies- if it’s blue, ocean related, pretty, expensive, gold, red, and/or compliments Jamil’s complexion, he’s getting it for him. Azul knows how to budget but he is RECKLESS with spending for his boyfriend bc like, what do you mean that his BOYFRIEND. His darling. Angelfish. He gets whatever he wants

this leads people to believe that Azul has Jamil wrapped around his finger, bc “well he dresses up Jamil however he likes” but they are dead wrong. Azul is willinginhly completely under Jamil’s control and he loves it. He wants to help Jamil and is completely willing to be his little service boy if it means he gets to see Jamil’s greatness.
