I shamelessly believe in the Decepticon cause tbh. Like sure, their honors gotten dulled and replaced by Megatron's hunger for power. But you can not deny their cause. It started off with good intentions. Like all they wanted was to rebel against an unfair, overpowered council and have equal rights for their people.

Plus, it's clearly stated pre-war Cybertron was horrible and plagued with discrimination. I hate to be a Megatron apologist. But if I was a cybertronian in the great war? I'd choose the Decepticons too.

i do believe i've had this ask marinating long enough. (you taste scrumptios btw! 😋) so please enjoy this mini-essay. i've been thinking about it for. years. oh authoritarian fascist regime that is the decepticons, how intensely you've strayed from your original goal and manipulated your followers via appeals to social frustration and promises of identity... oh megatron, you never stood a chance did you? the power got to his head! 😃

...truly a you either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain the dark knight christopher nolan moment in the studio today...

So, the Decepticons are often framed as the unambiguously evil "bad guys", and the Autobot cause is unanimously righteous and just for standing up against them. The Great War is often labeled as a fight between good and evil, that there are two sides that are fundamentally and morally different.

I think this is a disingenuous characterization, and very essentialist too. It omits a lot of internal history and nuance that many TF series employ (maybe with the exception of classic G1, which was your average 1980s military propaganda cartoon for kids) when attempting to answer the questions: What happened for the war between the Decepticons and Autobots to start, and for it to become how it is? Why are they fighting?

A lot of TF series throw in this backstory that the Decepticons were essentially, at the beginning at least, revolutionaries. As you said, pre-war Cybertron was rife with discrimination— Cybertronian society was plagued with severe class determinism, manifesting in cultural elitism and the institution of slavery. Inequality and unfairness were givens. There was a strict, immutable caste system with very very little class mobility (if, really, at all).

In TFP, Megatron was a slave— He had no rights, was oppressed and controlled by the elite upper class, forced to perform manual labor in mines, and was not a recognized citizen. Later, he did "climb the social ladder" to become a gladiator, but he was still, ultimately, a member of the lower caste, a nothing. Gladiators are still just as expendable, replaceable, and morally worthless as a slave. His function simply switched from forced manual labor to forced violent entertainment, and in both roles Megatron was oppressed. It's then also implied in TFP that, at the start, many Decepticons came from similar backgrounds, being members of Cybertron's oppressed and marginalized.

So the movement starts with, admittedly, very good intentions; All Megatron wants is to be recognized as an equal, to be free, to have control over his own life. He values self-determination, autonomy, and freedom. Megatron wants others in his same position to be able to choose. He wants to exist in a society not at his expense, but because he is a valued member of it. A valued member, like Orion Pax.

Orion Pax does not come from this background. He is an archivist living a very comfortable life as a member of the socially sound, from Cybertron's capitol city no less, Iacon. He isn't wealthy or a noble, but he's genteel and of an acceptable function. Orion Pax is civilized. He's one of the good ones.

This is the foundation for all the reasons why Megatronus of Kaon and Orion Pax of Iacon would eventually split, leading warring factions, calling themselves by different names. Yes, they believed in each other enough to be dear friends and allies. Yes, they called each other brother.

No, they were never equals. Orion Pax didn't have much to lose; he had the safety net of a good upbringing, a good step on the societal ladder. Megatronus could lose everything. He tasted freedom and opportunity and decided he'd never go back as long as he lived. It would be like willful suffering, a misery of knowing everything he could never have.

It shouldn't come as a surprise, then, when the ideology shifts.

Megatron is consumed with jealousy when Orion Pax is chosen to be a Prime. Of course its the respectable and civil Iaconian clerk that the Council chooses to become a Prime, this position only attainable by those worthy of it, because the level-headed and moderate Orion Pax makes a better poster child than that brutish, angry extremist Megatronus. Orion Pax is the reasonable one, he's the better orator, better at appealing to the sensibilities of the upper class because he's a member of it.

Megatronus, to the system, is still just a gladiator, a slave. He just talks too much. Is too loud, too opinionated. Didn't conform to the status quo. Why should they reward disobedience? That would set bad precedent, you see. We don't want more people to question things, don't want them to ask for more than they deserve. We all have our place in the world, and Megatronus should've learned to stay in his.

"Be more like Orion Pax, Megatronus, he does things the right way."

This decision solidified two absolutes for Megatron:

One, that Cybertron's elite will stay the elite, and everyone below them will stay below them. The caste system can no longer be changed or dismantled or reformed— It is too powerful, too deeply engrained. It must be destroyed entirely.

And two, Orion Pax was never his friend. And Optimus Prime, who stands in his place, can never be his ally.

Optimus Prime is a mere extension of the Council's will. A pawn who will never seek to disobey it.

Megatron is betrayed on two fronts: Once by the false promises of his homeworld, and then by the person he thought was his best friend and dearest ally— His brother. He realizes he has to now rally his forces around the idea that true freedom, individual self-determination and self-actualization, will come only from the elimination of Cybertron's corrupt government. If it cannot be fixed, it must be reborn.

The Decepticon cause arises from the failures and disappointments of a skewed, unforgiving, impossible system. The cards were always stacked against Megatron and his people—

"Don't you see, fellow Decepticons? They have always kept you weak. Starving! Take what should be yours— What is yours!"

It's easy to see how 'bots in Megatron's position are drawn in. They feel the heavy hand of oppression too. They have wants, needs, and desires that won't be met by elites and nobles who care less than slag about them— Take Optimus Prime and his newly-formed Autobots for example: They want the Decepticon cause to fall back in line, to keep their heads down, to conform and stay quiet.

The Decepticons are galvanized by Megatron, their frustration and sorrow weaponized into action. Any true Decepticon would follow Megatron's lead— He is their hero, after all, and he is a hero that fights back.

It's time the Decepticons bite the hand. It's time they start making noise. It's time they take down the Council, the elites, the Autobots, and Optimus Prime— All who oppose their freedom.

See... it's easy to get drawn in.

It's harder to escape.

(So yeah. You'd regret it. It should've been a warning sign that you had to start calling him Lord. Isn't that what you were fighting against in the first place? Power corrupts, after all.)

4. What’s one thing that always manages to get under your skin?

//A lot of things get under my skin tbh, but I'm finding that's a lot easier since I've been here long enough to see it all. If I had to narrow it down to a singular problem, I'll keep it RPC relevant. Not a fan of muns policing how to run other people's muses if it doesn't fit the "fanon" interpretations (Or sometimes even THEIR OWN headcanons)

I get that many of us get attached to a specific view of a character. I'm one of those people! Everyone knows by now that I am a stickler for how Cell is portrayed, it's just my vision. Ya can't get heated over someone doing their own thing with em'. I genuinely don't care if the entire community has agreed that "This character IS LIKE THIS / NOT LIKE THIS!!!" Nnnnnaaaah, you don't make the rules. People are going to play with their fictional paper dolls regardless of your input, so let go and move on. Even if it's Problematic? More like NOT MY PROBLEMATALL. I don't care, it's just not worth the fuss or headache. Just block them for fucks sake.

13. What’s underrated in the rpc?

Perhaps a nostalgic feeling, but what ever happened to magic anons? I get that it's easier to reblog memes for specific prompts, but I kinda miss the wild west of "SHIAKAZING, YOU ARE NOW NAKED FOR 24 HOURS." And that's just how it was a little over 10 years ago. I think we need to go back to that old tumblr rpc, bring a little bit of goofy fun now and again for the sake of something unusual to happen to our characters. This is implying you're allowed to ignore CERTAIN prompts, but otherwise? Have fun with it.

28. What’s your favorite genre to write?

I would be lying to myself if I didn't fancy a little bit of romance now and again. It's hardly touched upon because I'm a lil stinky nervous baby who overthinks everything when writing with friends, but it warms my soul. Refreshing, even, just to do something nice. Though it goes without saying that I love just about all genres of writing, I just wish I could do romance a little more sometimes.

7. What's the best thing about the canon you are writing?

for wrio: i love the foundations we were given for him. he has such an interesting (and tragic) story and to come through all of that and be the man he is now? i love who he is, what he stands for, and the fact he can be so mature and healthy (for the most part) over what happened to him.

for vautrin: listen, they really just handed me a bare bones Ye Olde Wrio with a soft spot for hydro dragons and melusines, who is both savagely vengeful and devastatingly selfless. beautiful.

for gallagher: the possibilities of it. that's really all i can say for now since his story isn't complete yet, but i am Living for the mystery that surrounds him still.

8. What's the worst thing about the canon you are writing?

for vautrin: that there isn't more of it, aka, hyv should definitely hit me up so i can persuade them to bring him back as a funky lil primordial weirdo-

for vautrin: ............. i feel like this one speaks for itself dflkjglkdhnfg- obviously, yes, i have. even taking into account his 'past' verse, i've tweaked him a bit in terms of his background (of which there is none from canon), but obviously the biggest tweak is bringing him back to life 400 years later-

for gallagher: no.... not yet. there is a chance i will once the story is complete, if i don't like the way something plays out or simply want to expand on something that happens or a piece of information we're given.

for vautrin: again, this one is obvious. absolutely he's canon divergent.

for gallagher: and, again, not yet. i'm holding back on building too much for him until the story is done, bc i don't want to put work into something that turns out to be so wildly wrong that i'd have to scrap it and start over. but....... there's a chance he will be in future.

for wrio: not really, tbh. i like how he's portrayed & i love the little quirks to his personality.

for vautrin: again, i'm pretty happy with it. as i've said before, he's basically just a different flavour of wrio from another time, and whilst we don't get much of him from canon, i love what we do get.

Past: FMA & Brotherhood

I stand by my older writing, at least to the extent you can see your old stuff without cringing too hard ahaha.

That said, I wouldn’t say I currently ship this pairing. Their fanon interpretation is in my memories fondly, especially from certain authors, but I’ll be honest, the ship did not occur to me while I was watching the show itself. I think part of the beauty of fandom is that transformative aspect, and I did appreciate experiencing the anime and manga in a new way through fanfiction.

I never set out to ship somewhat “problematically”, stumbling into it as FMA’s most popular Ao3 ship at the time. For my own writing, I consistently made it clear that Ed was an adult (like, at least 20), maybe Roy younger if an AU, and adjusted things like employment context to minimize power imbalances, because that was important to me.

Can people ship them in different ways, incl. age gap, boss/employee, etc.? Sure! I’m not out here to judge and don’t really want to touch that, tbh. It’s important to me that we can all create fandom in the ways that are meaningful to us, tag, curate our own experiences, and mute or click away as preferred, but I’m also too sensitive to dive properly into Discourse around these things (I mean, I’m out here creating soft bantery fluff hahaha) so that mismatch was a bit of a deterrent. Nuance is difficult online, and often in short supply.

Leaving was a weird combo of fandom getting quieter, inspo leaving me, and I guess life stuff. Tl;dr I’m pretty “ship and let ship” and against harassing any creators, but my own take was gentle and if it makes anyone comfier, I did want to add that context!

Little did I know that I would later stumble into a whole different arena of “don’t call me short, bastard!” exchanges.

My time in this fandom was fun! Ngl, there was no issue or major reason for leaving; I simply read the second and third books, once the third was out, and lost inspiration. 😅 What can you do?

Bungou Stray Dogs

It’s been... idk, eight months of BSD obsession? Six months writing it on Ao3 (Colourful_skies), in any case! If I do move back to Tumblr, I’m sure you’ll hear more. As of now, I’ve published ~65k in that time, which is... hard to compare, I suppose, but a high rate for me personally! I don’t know if that will continue, but at this point, I hope so. More recently I’ve attempted a bit more engagement w others, which has been fun.

In short, Soukoku and especially Chuuya have my heart, and I also really appreciate Sigma. I tend to write soft skk, fluff, and introspective fics, but mentioning that simply for context; I prefer to follow wherever inspiration leads me. Analysis is also v fun, including drawing connections with BSD authors’ works and making non-BSD poems or songs about skk/Chuuya, but idk if I would post about these topics here.

Moving forward, I hope to continue to work on my craft and brainrot over BSD & fandom with other lovely people, until my inspiration or mental wellness (?) lead me elsewhere.

Lol I totally get that you don’t know what I’m into. Legit have been mainly posting stranger things rn and every once in a while I’ll reblog about other things. Fun fact: I mainly made this blog so that I could see a lot of supernatural (the show) content which suddenly turned into so many different things. Low key otp: controversial lol but I’m gonna say mileven. I totally get why they should breakup but a lot of their problems that they go through with the ship is just valid. Like El questioning if she’s a superhero and how Mike perceives her since she has been only useful to other people (mainly men) because of her powers for a good chunk of her life. The duffer bros just don’t take care to solve their problems and always writes angst for them and pushes the ship as el is a major main character. Honestly I think that they get way too much hate from other people. The duffer bros just don’t know how to write their romantic relationship.

High key notp= anything with billy and anything with Steve/kids. I’m so sorry that you have to see that last one but yes it does exist and it makes me want to clean my eyes out. I just realized that this was created by fanon/fandom so sorry if you strictly wanted canon

I think it's been more than two months since I pushed my "Wilbur is remembered far more competent than he is" agenda in your asks.

So let's rectify that, shall we?

Wilbur is pretty fucking incompetent. He's never been that amazing charismatic smooth talker we characterize him as (not that I'm not absolutely behind that too)

Like. Who did he ever successfully smoothtalk? The Lmanbergians? None of them were ever hesitant to join from the very beginning and Eret betrayed them pretty easily when Dream manipulated them.

Techno? Techno wanted to join them, he was the one who reached out to them. There was no convincing needed and Wilbur never convinces Techno of anything Techno wasn't already willing to do by himself.

Dream? Definitely not during the revolution and Dream's support during Pogtopia was Dream following his own agenda, not being influenced by Wilbur in any way.

He couldn't even get Quackity to let him into Las Nevadas.

Nah, the only person Wilbur ever smooth talked is TommyInnit. The fucking powerhouse of this cell. And even that's not completely true. Tommy hasn't been convinced by Wilbur of anything since the very beginning of the Lmanberg revolution. Not during Pogtopia. And not even now (it's not smooth talking if it's just exploiting mental exhaustion and trauma and all that. Tommy isn't convinced of what they're doing.)

Really. Not even Tommy, per se.

He just got Tommy extremely loyal and attached to him.

And honestly, that's all he needs.

You don't need to have influence over everyone, you just need to have strong influence over the right person.

And that's what Wilbur had and has.

Wilbur's accomplishments are just pretty much him having a vision and Tommy throwing himself at it to make it come true.

Wilbur had the idea for L'manberg but Tommy was the one leading the troops. Tommy was the one who negotiated for their independence and got it when Wilbur was negotiating their surrender. Tommy was the one who FOR NO REASON built the escape tunnel they escaped through when Dream blew up L'manberg and he was the one who built the lil panic room at the end. Tommy was the one who's home became the embassy to L'manberg (something Wilbur very much pressured and kinda manipulated him into btw. I'm never not gonna mention that lil detail when the embassy comes up)

Wilbur had the idea and stood around looking pretty. My guy literally stood around looking pretty, without armor, during battles. Just. I love him.

And let's not forget that Tommy was fckin great at being the general. The SMP was so much better equipped and still, L'manberg was kinda winning. To the extend that Dream saw the need for TnT (which was hidden) and the betrayal through Eret (which was hidden)

Dream felt the need to pull two deceitful moves to keep if not even gain the upper hand.

If I'm not mixing stuff up here, correct me if I'm wrong.

And stuff like the tunnel weren't even expected of Tommy. My boy just thought of that on his own and did it on his own. Noone knew it existed. Noone expected it to exist.

After independence Wilbur is implied to have been leading but he generally wasn't around too much. Tommy was keeping order in the more face to face kinda way. He tried to navigate people's personal conflicts and make sure things didn't escalate and just. He did so well.

And Pogtopia? Oh, Pogtopia.

It's a bit more difficult here, since they were no longer on exactly the same side and goals are more muddled but still.

(and I want to make it clear that I'm in no way trying to shame Wilbur for mental health issues or anything. This isn't about that. I'd never fucking even imply that)

Tommy kept morale high. He made sure that other people were fine, when there was a chance. He tried to reassure Wilbur when Wilbur was spiraling, he asked Tubbo if he was happier, he told Tubbo to be safe, he recruited Quackity when he saw the chance while making sure that Quackity's intentions were sincere enough (he didn't just naively offer Quackity a place in Pogtopia and risk it being a trap).

He avoided any kind of destruction to L'manberg as much as possible.

He rallied people.

Really, his one actual flaw was not "turning" on Wilbur. His unwillingness to give up on him or even just incapacitate him or limiting his ability to act as he wanted was what ended up costing him everything. His unwillingness to interfere with Wilburs plans beyond talking to him and threatening him with a crossbow that one time ended up making the 16th possible. And he can hardly be blamed for that.

And Wilbur, during Pogtopia... Well... Nobody liked him, he made everyone uncomfortable and most people just kinda tolerated him because... Yeah...

Without Tommy troop morale would have been abysmal thanks to Wilbur. He constantly put himself and his side down, labeling them as villains and thus morally inferior. He pitted his own people against each other, spread paranoia between his people. No communication or actually planning involving other people. Still refused to wear armor.

And don't get me wrong, that's the point. He wasn't on their side. Obviously Tommy added more to their victory, Wilbur didn't want their victory. But still I just wanna praise my boy Tommy, he was. So amazing. Boy fucking peaked.

He's so good in tactical warfare or whatever you call it.

And I wanna just make it clear that this isn't criticism of Wilbur. Not at all. This isn't criticism at all. This is just about the big fanon perception of Wilbur as this great and mature leader.

Tbh this is actually more about showing people how amazing Tommy was and PLEASE I WANT FICS TO HAVE TOMMY BE MORE OF AN EFFECTIVE POWERHOUSE

Regarding my former ask I just wanted to clarify again that I'm not trying to critique Wilbur or anything.

It's really just that I think it's hilarious how people remember him as way more put together and competent than he really was.

Yeah, honestly one of the biggest disservice people have done to c!Tommy in this fandom is fail to portray him as the badass general that he actually was. Like, sure, Wilbur's title was as "general", but he never did anything for it. He gave a few speeches, but then the work was left up to Tommy. Like, genuinely, rewatch the Eret betrayal vod, Wilbur says it openly that he's leaving it in Tommy's hands. And Tommy does manage to lead his troops into an advantageous position! They get their enemies to retire at one point during the very first battle!

Then, of course, there is the betrayal, but, once again, Tommy didn't give up. He built the tunnel for their scuffed escape beforehand and, when everyone was just about ready to give up, he went against Dream in a duel and then traded the discs for their independence without loosing a beat.

Tommy was a BIG asset during that war!

Wilbur mostly was and still is kind of a wreak. And it's not his fault, 'cause mental health is an absolute bitch and he wasn't doing too hot after the war, then it got worse with Pogtopia and even worse during the 13 years in Limbo. And now we are where we are now with Wilbur being... not a great individual.

But still! In Pogtopia Tommy was the de-facto leader. And yeah, that was because Wilbur wasn't on their side anymore, but they didn't entirely know that. Or didn't wanna see that.

Tommy himself was hoping that Wilbur would "come back around" if he managed to get back their country. That was a big motivator for him. And he did everything that was in his power to do to not lose either Wilbur or L'Manburg. He tried talking to Wilbur multiple times, tried persuading him that there was another way, he never bought into Wilbur's ideals, he recruited people and he lead the troops once again. It wasn't Techno that lead the troops (despite him being a much better fighter) it was Tommy. And once everything was exploded and Techno and Wilbur betrayed them? Well he kept encouraging people. Literally I'm begging everyone to watch that vod! Tommy was there at every step of the way, telling Niki that it wasn't over, telling Quackity to keep fighting and, after that, you know who was there to validate Tubbo's presidency? To rally people behind him? It wasn't Tubbo. Tommy gathered everyone by the L'Mantree and got their spirits high once again.

He is just genuinely amazing.

And, like, yeah now Wilbur managed to manipulate Tommy to an extent to be by his side. But that's not that much of an accomplishment anymore because Tommy has just been through so much that he's exhausted now, as you said. Like, remember when Tommy said he wanted to be on Wilbur's side because "he gets things done"? Well, I'm still waiting to see that one honestly...

Literally no one asked for this but because I spent the majority of last year (...and 2019, and 2018...) reading byler fics and coping with life, I thought I’d make a list of some of my absolute favorites. 

The other day I was basically starving for some byler fics and the angel @magicalfairy provided me with some of her faves so I thought I’d do the same, because I love reading, and I love all of these fics and I appreciate their writers💗 And fic writers in general, come on!

- This is a mix of long works and one-shots/short stories. - Everything is mostly fluff with a tad of angst and a lot of internalized homophobia conflict.  - Every fic is completed, except for the ones I mention that they are not. - I try my best to lay out the stories in a way that I won’t spoil you the plot but also warning you of some stuff you might don’t like. Literally a satisfying and very needed fill in of season three, with a good dose of Mike’s thoughts and conflict. Mike’s characterization is specially amazing in this one. The writing style is amazing and I know the author put everything into making it historically accurate, and it was really sweet. You probably read it, it’s by the amazing sevensided here on Tumblr🧡

Spring Break (T, 120k, 14/15 chapters) The slowburn of my dreams. Lots of internalized conflict and conflict with each other. Conflict within the Party (uhh kind of), conflict with Mike and Will. Byers family has moved and the kids are visiting! Chaos. Characterization is on point. Yeah, I know it’s unfinished, but the fourteenth chapter actually serves as a pretty nice ending. 

This is where it starts (M, 148.8k, 24 chapters) Aged up characters. The Party is in college and Will disappears again, but now it’s different. Mike knows he didn’t vanish from thin air, and the discovery he and the Party end up making is pretty insane. Mystery solving/fantasy/third dimension, throw in a bit of D&D and Mike realizing some shit, and you get this marvelous fic. It’s a breath of fresh air. The world building is definitely one of the elements that stands out the most, because it’s very nicely described, it sounds like a dream and it’s completely immersive. Absolute gem of a fic. 

there’s a Starman waiting in the sky (M, 30.6k, 8 chapters) Do I need to say anything? Will is out there living his best life and Mike realizes that wow, umm, maybe his best friend looks a bit too nice with that costume... and wait, is he getting horny? It’s actually really fun and sexy.

The Evening Speaks (T, 23k, 7 chapters) In where Mike is a late-night college radio host and Will is the art student that stays up till late to catch up with Wheeler on the Mic. They flirt through songs y’all, this one is really sweet. 

heads or tails? (E, 24k, 3 chapters) Aged up characters. I know most people don’t enjoy sex in fics and with specific characters but this one is insanely well written. It’s a slowburn that commits to the tension and with every word you are grasping and anticipating their next move. I think you can find the author here on Tumblr as yousaidyes🧡

The Man of Average (M, 56.7k, 5/? chapters) Aged up characters. No but you don’t understand, the writing here is absolute gourmet. The story is exciting as well, it’s super interesting. Weirdly enough, for being very aged up characters, they are well characterized but they don’t feel like teenagers. They are naturally Mike and Will. The author really captured Mike and Will’s essence. I know, it’s unfinished and it’s updated very rarely, but this is the typical fic you can’t believe someone just posted on the internet for free. I will say though, I think it’s definitely not for everyone. Read at your own risk.

Heartstrings (E, 82.8k, 24/? chapters) Aged up characters. By the same author of The Man of Average. A collection of memories, the road to Mike and Will’s happy ever after. And fucking hell!!!!! You’ll cry and get angry, you’ll cheer for them, then you’ll want to crash their faces together because god dammit you love each other!!! But yeah, same thing here. The writing and the way the story is laid out as a nonlinear narrative is brilliant. And I also think this is one of the best Will versions I’ve read. The author might as well be the og creator of this two characters tbh. You can find the author here as mylesimeblr🧡

Sinners behind the walls (T, 1.5k, 1/1) And because I can’t stop recommending this author, a little thing of Mike tormenting himself but also being too deeply committed to Will. 

The Red Envelope series (T/E, 167K, two completed works) Something happens that Will thought was impossible and from there, pure drama and romance. Anything by this author has the potential to become your absolute favorite fic, but this series in particular is amazing. I doubt that any of you haven’t read this, but it doesn’t hurt to put it in this list. I’m pretty sure the author is serendipitous-magic on Tumblr🧡

A New Fight series (T, 91k, two completed works, one WIP) And finally the Star Wars AU that we all needed. But this isn’t your typical “Mike is Han”, “Will is Leia” and “El is Luke”, it’s way more interesting than that, and the author has appropriated the Star Wars world like no other. I’ll admit I’m not a 100% fluent in SW lore but this is amazing to me either way. This author is also on Tumblr, tea-for-one-please🧡

I Nver Find Out ‘Til I’m Head Over Heels (G, 12.5K) Classic 5+1 fic. If you haven’t read it, where have you been? This is your moment. In where Mike keeps inviting Will to the school dances and Will thinks it’s just a joke until he realizes it’s not. 

Before You’re Gone (T, 5.9k) Will is leaving Hawkins and Mike thinks this is a great moment for a confession. This one I discovered last friday, thank you friend @magicalfairy 💗

You’re weird Wheeler (M, 4.5k) Mike unintentionally starts a tradition of going to each other to talk about their sexual encounters just after they finish. Will keeps getting more explicit with the details he shares, and he makes his best friend interested. This one is really fun y’all.

Out-Of-Town Friends (N/R, 4.6K) It’s not rated. I haven’t re- read it but I’d say it would probably fall in a T rating. So cute!! Will has new friends and sneaks off every friday and the Party doesn’t know where he is going, so Mike decides to follow him and is surprised. 

Snowed Under (G, 1.3k) By the same author of The New Fight series. Mike is spending christmas by himself in college because a snowstorm hits Chicago and Nancy can’t drive to see him, but then he has a surprise visitor. Ahhh just a lil sweet holiday fic. Super cute.

Tbh, something has to have gone very wrong for Cypher to have a roommate. Expect the first few weeks for him to be actively trying to drive you out.

Obnoxious tool noises, dark muttering and whirring at all hours, stink eyes across the room on the rare occasion he makes eye contact, you name it.

If by some miracle you’re on good terms to start with, you’re probably already familiar with some of his idiosyncrasies.

Once the initial shock has gone, Cypher is the kind of roommate that really depends on your lifestyle. He’s not one to have parties all the time, but you will have to be able to deal with lights and fidgeting into the small hours of the morning.

Would highly recommend learning Arabic, if only to enjoy the creativity of his cussing. “I hope you wake up before your alarm and all your toenails have been replaced with dollar store gemstones.” That shit hits different at 3am

Do not expect to see any of his work. You get the sense that the general vicinity is boobytrapped to the point of overkill

Any portraits you manage to glimpse are probably no longer a threat to the Protocol…

Sinister as Cypher can be, you can always rely on a poorly-timed quip to make you spit your drink

Memorise his coffee (milk and 1 according to fanon), and you are instantly bumped to the bottom of the ‘would kill if he had to’ list

You are also the first to know ALL the best gossip. Like, you know who’s got a thing for who before they do.

You catch a glimpse of him just once without the mask. Disarmingly handsome, with kind eyes that crinkle up at the corners. Maybe just maybe it wasn’t unintentional that you were shown something

Overall 9/10, very polite, know you would never be attacked in the dead of night unless you’d done something reaaaaaaally bad to piss your roommate off.

However bad Cypher is, this guy is worse. Luckily, he’s more of the type to ghost you than get you to leave. First couple of weeks, you don’t see this ghostly man AT ALL

Weirdly, the room has occasional signs of life, like folded laundry and bandages, and if you’re particularly observant, you might notice that the bed made slightly differently every morning

Eventually, you find his lurk on the roof. “Omen you have to stop doing this, I promise I won’t bite, and it can’t be comfortable spending all your time up here.

He disappears, but the next day you find him spending a little bit more time in the room.

Give it a couple of months, and the Renaissance of Omen is upon you. Expect baked goods, fresh flowers arranged on the table, freshly pressed linen and most importantly, the most elegant knitted scarves and blankets. Even for someone that physically doesn’t sleep, Omen is PROLIFIC man

Omen takes curating his space as a way of keeping him grounded. He moves noiselessly and doesn’t disturb the world around him, content to watch, and arrange, and chip away at his projects

How do you feel about cat hair?

“Omen, we can’t keep her. Phoenix is allergic” “Even better, he won’t snoop.” “Omen, we’re hardened killers-” “So is she.” “Where would we even… oh, you’ve already knitted her a bed” “Her name is Pyjama.” “Like, singular?” “Yes.”

It’s honestly like a wild sparrow landing on you the first time it happens—you have to hold your breath when you see Omen curled up on your shared couch, cat on lap gently batting the yarn as he knits a pastel blue beanie.

Legit? 11/10 roommate he’s a really pleasant ghostly man to be around, and you can sleep well knowing he’d never let anyone get close.

As someone who thinks the TLH comic is messy, I sure find the movie was a bit more organised? But also, I made the mistake of going into Part 1 trying to compare it to the comic and was sorely disappointed with all the changes. It took a rewatch of Part 1 with an open mind for me to realise some of the good parts about the movie.

I love that the movie explained every mystery during the event. Not sure if I'm dumb or what but I actually hate how TLH comic never really explained about the ending? Like what, why, how. Who at when? These mysteries do not translate well to Dark Victory too but DV was slightly more structured imo.

I, for one, appreciate with how Harvey was portrayed in here. I'm big fan of actual cinnamon roll Harvey who honest to god is just trying to do his job to serve Gotham and that's what exactly he was in here. I'm utterly delighted to find that he's innocent uwu <3

Also Two-Face actually being protective of Harvey instead of belittling him like usual? Wow, sir, that's hot af and when you appeared in Falcone's penthouse and said "Judgement Day" I swear I almost died. He's just super, super charming imo LOL

I love how Bruce was portrayed as slightly more novice in here than in the comic. Everyone keep hinting that he's clumsy/dumb and I'm like please guys he's trying askhgkashg

And Selina?????? SHES SO CUTE????? I love her like this infinitely better T^T AND ALL HER SCENES WITH HARVEY WERE PROBABLY MY FAVS???? God I love their dynamics so much LOL

Now onto the dislikes.

Everything that I dislike about this movie has got to do with Gilda. I don't like how she's portrayed at all. When will I have a supportive Gilda that's probably a lil homicidal because she doesn't want anyone to bully his husband?

I also don't like how Harvey and Gilda's marriage was treated in here. JFC they were so cute in the TLH comic with all the talk about starting a family etc. In here? Cringe. When Harvey brought up the "D" word, I was all mAYBE ITS FOR THE BETTER MY DUDES.

I don't quite like the pacing too. Some parts felt super rushed and some parts felt super draggy?

Anyway, that was me trying to be objective with my review; the fanon/shipper-goggles were off. But with said goggle on, I am definitely HAPPY with all the BruHarvey (or more accurately, BatDent) and Gotham Justice Triumvirate moments aksghasg god I love love love that ending with the three of them on the rooftop????? haha bnha war arc dabi and hawks theories go brrr plus shorter version here

disclaimer: I have not yet read this chapter. I have read the bnha wiki and spoilers. i wrote this all in a 'new tab' and did not proofread. not only that, but I haven't read bnha since march 2020. be warned.

okay so first off, dabi most definetely didn't burn *off* the wings. I believe hawks' feathers do a weird lil regen thing, and maybe the fire cancels it out and that's why it's a weakness? but still, with what they've built up and that dabi's goals were focused on endeavor, I don't doubt that he severly injured hawks? but not to the point where he burns the mf wings off. as hawks worked directly with endeavor, maybe dabi was trying to spite him- but- and hear me out i know this is a fanfic type of thinking but still- i do think dabi might have been trying to scare hawks away. If he had truly protected hawks from the league, he'd know that this level of betrayal paints a big ass bull's eye on his back, and that hawks would most definetely try to come back at least to dabi. for answers or interrogation or whatever. so it's possibe that dabi was trying to just really scare hawks, so he doesn't come back and get even more hurt. That's how i see it anyways- we'll see hawk's wing damage soon and we'll be able to test this. But in preparation for if dabi really d i d burn off hawks' wings, here's some more theory. 1, we've eri! hawks can go on the waiting list with mirio. second, this would mean that something in dabi's goal has changed. From what i know, dabi just wants to hurt endeavor, so burning off hawk's wings would have nothing to do with that. maybe he wants to cancel out hawks as a form of reinforcement, but then my scare theory stands as well. and we know dabi's relatively intelligent- and unless i missed a piece, he values his relationship with hawks. so i really cannot see him doing that to hawks unless another explanation is given. but of course, we need to consider our bird man. hawks is definetely scared. but, he's the most stubborn mf there. so, i do think he'll try to contact dabi again for some reason- most likely information. he'll be banking on what they'd built up still having some weight. now, if he truly despises villains and idolizes endeavor, he's being sent into a fuckin crisis rn. there's no way he know's dabi's childhood story and isn't bothered by it. now, if he said that he and dabi are nothing alike, i think that's really him denying it. this isn't even fanon or headcanon- they're canonically similar. a bit like akechi and akira, if you will. anyways- i think this revelation is going to have a significant impact on how he deals with the league and his partnership with endeavor from here on out. i mean. fUCk dude, this man you absolutely idolized,,,was abusing his entire family???? to the point where his oldest son faked his death and became a villain, and shoto fucking despises him where he refused to use his quirk until he had a whole ass intervention- i mean you see where i'm coming from. so that's a thing. I think hawks might confront endeavor about this tbh. now, the wings. if dabi really did burn off hawks' wings, i don't think we have anything to look forward to from here on out. sure, if the rest of the theory stands, he won't *totally* hate dabi, and there might be some understanding there, but he. burnt. off. his. wings. there's no reparation. but if he didn't and my scare theory is accurate, i think hawks might realize that. he isn't dumb, and he's been around dabi more than anybody. he'll either realize what dabi was doing, and mostly likely not comply, or he won't but will see that *he's alive and intact*. i'm now realizing that this is what the fic and audio were talking about, so hawks knows that he was fuckin' spared. and i think if he keeps the wings, we good. that would actually be more interesting than if he didn't, because it leaves that door unlocked and we get to see what he does with it. anyways yeah

that was me 10 minutes ago. here's my current theories-

alright. with more knowledge, I'm just angry. Hawks basically forgave Endeavor??? On god I hate that. But I suppose if we've a whole war going on, they have better things to worry about. still, I don't like it. That was a really good chance to give some more development, horikoshi!! also at this point i'm lowkey rooting for the villains so whatever i say can be thrown out bAHAHA

I am clearly not keeping in mind that Deku and Shigaraki are the main characters. I don't care. You wanna talk story arc? Stain was kinda right but everybody is doing this shit wrong. Back to my point.

Hawks hasn't had any internal dialogue since High End, and it's obvious why. Still, it's not like he recovered immediately, so he definitely had time to think about the whole thing. Now, I didn't know he killed Twice. I loved him so that's kinda upsetting, but now I can completely disprove my scare theory. It would also seem that Dabi's goal is now to just. Eradicate heroes, based on that one panel where he's like "Guess I didn't do enough." Which, combined with Hawks forgiving Endeavor- ew- puts them at direct opposites with each other now. Still, Hawks learned a lot about the villains during his situation as a spy coughhoneytrapcough​ anyways- so that inner dialogue should be interesting. Once again, we needed the disgust at Endeavor but that's fine. Now, since Dabi was clearly angry at Hawks for k!lling Twice, we can tell that he does​ value relationships, and if the ship exisiting alone doesn't tell us, Dabi and Hawks were pretty damn close. So Dabi's feeling of betrayal probably contributed to him deciding to burn Hawks as bad as he did, and he might be wondering the same I was- whether this information on Endeavor will change Hawks' views on heroes. We also haven't heard from Dabi since High End, so whatever he's plotting is kind of important. K!lling Twice combined with learning about Dabi's past probably messed with Hawks a bit, but Dabi too. I'd like for them to interact again, but we might not even get that with the direction the story is going. If they do, I'd also like it to be outside of a fight- not that they aren't fighting almost constantly, but hearing their full thought on the events of High End would be interesting. I think if that does happen Hawks'll be angrier than Dabi, and he'll probably be a bit difficult to talk to. Still, if a bit of my scare theory stands- that Dabi let​ him live- that could be used as a leverage point.

That still relies on Dabi wanting to talk with Hawks- which is kind of unlikely considering that his goal now seems to be "kill all heroes" SO maybe It'll be Hawks approaching him? I don't really know.

i’m just making this post since i don’t feel like making an official document right now. so please give it all a quick read! 

this is a sideblog to herflame. all my rules can be found on that blog, link to those here.

i will note that i am a little bit selective when it comes to interacting with people on this blog. i know that there’s a lot of discourse surrounding this musical, it’s content, and specifically evan as the main character. 

along with this, it’s been a long time since i’ve seen the stage show, and i honestly don’t feel like going through the process of finding a bootleg rn. evan is just a comfort character, and i’m just gonna be writing him as i find him interesting to explore. very headcanon based over here, at least until the movie comes out.

before we get into anything else, this blog will have a lot of mentions of suicide, mental illness (more specifically anxiety and depression), grief/death in general, and other topics relating to such. i’ll tag things relating to suicide, but i won’t be tagging things relating to anxiety or depression because they’re so central to evan it would be impossible to tag.

i would FIRST like to make it very clear that i am not going to defend evan’s actions throughout the musical when it comes to lying about being friends with connor. it’s obviously a very bad thing to do, and there is no defense. what i will like to state is that evan is someone who is struggling with various mental illnesses, is suicidal, and feels as if he is entirely alone in the world. the lie starts out because his anxiety does not allow him to correct the family. please criticize evan and all the mistakes that he makes because he makes many, but people turning him into a villain or acting as if he does this only because he wants to sleep with zoe or etc makes me very uncomfortable.

secondly, i’m probably going to be putting a lot of interactions either pre or post show? i’m not against writing certain aspects during the show, but tbh i just feel a lil uncomfortable actively writing evan while he’s lying about connor. i’m not trying to say anyone is bad for exploring things during the show, but it just personally is a lil uncomfortable to write. hope you guys understand

third, i portray evan as bisexual. not a whole lot to say about this one. he’s just a bi boy.

fourth, idk how i feel about a lot of the like canon/fanon ships that people have for this show. zoe and evan is uh.... well there’s a lot to unpack there, and writing them post show makes me a lil uncomfy. i don’t like jared and evan either. connor and evan is a lil iffy as well. so while i’m open to shipping, anything with other canon deh characters is going to require some chatting before hand.

(Obviously we all have our favourites and there is nothing wrong with whichever characters you like or don’t, and i love fic writers on here regardless of which characters they write so please don’t think I’m not enjoying reading your [insert character] stories, I definitely still read and love them I just don’t spend much time thinking about him as a character outside of reading fics! I also think the fanon versions of most of these characters are truly superior)

Maxwell – Just because at this point I know nothing about him and tbh I dislike his general vibe from what I’ve seen.

Whiskey - I just... I don’t like him. I hated the film and I hated the character and I get actively annoyed when I think about him and his stupid hat.

Frankie - Oof sorry please no one hate me for this one I know he’s the fandom soft bf but he’s really not for me. However I definitely like the fanon version of him more, but movie Frankie is not welcome in my mind. He does get a bonus point for piloting a helicopter though, that is hot.

Dave York - He’s middle ground at the moment but I have not seen the film. He’s a dad? And an assassin gone rouge? And that’s really all I know about him so I don’t feel much either way. Did like the way he got on his knees in that one gif though.

Din - I joined this fandom because of him, but he’s definitely gone down on my list a bit since then. Purely because I like other characters, who happily show their faces, a lot more. Sorry Din. He’s great though; lives by a code, has good morals, and chapter 6 Din can have anything he wants.

Veracruz - a great villain and such a dramatic bitch. And looks good doing it. What more do you want.

Oberyn - Bisexual prince of my heart. I gave up on GoT just before his arrival and will never be able to start watching it again, but I know from the small bits I’ve seen that he’s fucking magnificent and I wanna make out with him and Ellaria.

Tovar - He’s so grumpy, it’s brilliant. Morals are kind of a grey area but he is loyal which is a plus. Yes, he needs to wash. But he’s also very grumpy, did I mention that? Hungry bitch. Wonderful scowl. Looks good fighting. Probably plays rough. I like him.

Max - Wow this asshole managed to jump way up the list. There is one person to blame and I think she knows who she is. Max is fun and very much has a flair for the dramatic too. He’s a vampire, which I love of course. He’s a bit evil but we can forgive him that I think because he wears a waistcoat very, very well.

Javi - Moody, and bad at handling his emotions, and complex. Exquisite. Gorgeous and definitely dtf. That moustache (I am known to like a good moustache), the fashion, the crippling depression and overwhelming need to save everyone other than himself. I vibe.

Marcus - Perfect? In every way? Ok mayyyybe a bit overbearing and a little too desperate to be in love, but definitely deserves all the love he can get and more. A good, good man. He talked about pancakes and breakfast for dinner and I was smitten. I think deep down we all want Marcus to be in love with us?

Ezra - 100000/10. I think I am actually in love with this fictional character please send help. He’s a lil bit of a reprobate, probably would rob me blind, but he’s lived a life where that’s necessary so I forgive him. And as long as he seduced me first and then took off with all my possessions I’d be okay with it. He’s loquacious, and excitable, which I think is lovely and I can see how he could come across as annoying but like...I just...love how talkative and charming and adventurous he is. Also deep down he’s a wandering soul looking for others like him and this makes me feel gooey. *sigh* he’s wonderful.

Like who tf is this show written for?? it has to be for like, 8-10 year olds. It has to be. Everything is just so....stupid. Nothing is ever properly explained, motivations never really given, everyone is just a 2 dimensional cardboard cutout of a trope. And that pisses me off so much bc like??? other shows aimed at young kids can still have great world building. they can have good world building and characters and overall story and still be cheesy and a lil dumb. cheesy and a lil dumb is completely fine!! but voltron is just so...godammn... BORING!! it’s like i WANT to like the characters but its just so goddamn hard when everybody is so fucking flat. by all rights, i should want to marry allura. shes everything i loved when i was little, from her color pallet to her princesshood to her white fucking hair!! i should LOVE allura but i don’t!! i kind of hate her. why?? i don’t know!! shes so...boring! and flat! and fucking PASSIVE! everything in this show lands so fucking flat holy shit.

don’t get me started on lance and hunk. bolin was my favorite look character for the first few episodes and then he got knocked to Comic Relief and had maybe two (2) importantish moments. he/they may be part of the main cast but they’re not main characters. they feel like background props to the Actual Main characters.

that’s my reaction after every! new! season!! is just,, FUCK keith. god the show functioned SO WELL without him. he’s just so...idk. i also don’t care. what was his character arc anyway? it SHOULD have been about learning to love and trust others but we only get that in lip service and speed run character development (i hate the quantum abyss...so much... like yeah, who cares about SHOWING our characters mature, let’s just tell that it happened in afucking montage.) if keith were a properly developed character he shouldve remained PASSIONATE and idk, run support?? that boy SHOULD have piloted red, end of story. period. keith doesn’t need to lead he needs to learn to TRUST others and that insludes trusting other WITH HIS LIFE. i won’t rant about how we should have had black paladin lance, but keith should have never ever been black paladin. even after he “matures” he still sucks at. he’s this awful,,little,, Shiro 2.0. and I hate it. i ahte it and i hate shiro just a little bit. even though he was arguably the most likeable character, he shouldve stayed dead. or missing. or whatever. he didn’t need to come back and they didnt need to make keith a little offbrand clone of him. i ESPECIALLY hate that they aged keith up 2 years for no goddamn reason other than to make him the Adult (tm). keith’s dedication to others was gre4at, but it should have, and im failing for this word here so forgive me, climaxed? cresscendo’d? whatever. /resulted/ in him playing support. not leader. lone wolf keith doesn’t need how to lead his pack, he needed to learn to HELP his pack. to be a TEAM PLAYER. he didn’t want the responsibility of leading bc guess what?? some people hate leading!! there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be support! keith’s entire arc is a huge mess of missed opportunities and a grand illustration that he is lm’s and jds’ favorite, just like fucking mako.

i won’t rant about mako, but just know i fucking hate him and the special treatment he gets, and good LORD does keith take over mako. keith isn’t space zuko he’s space mako and it fucking SHOWS.

okay, i’m losing steam here, but like.... so apple, why tf where u voltron 24/7 if you hated it so much? because homestuck was over and i needed a new hyperfixation. and i really had to force it for vld tbh. and at the end of the day, it wasn’t so much about the show itself as the potential of klance (or sheith, up until s3). between the interviews, the coding, the fucking EVERYTHING--it really felt like it could be canon. i knew in my heart it was queer baiting but i had HOPE dammit. hope that this could be killer representation, hope that these characters would delvelopment into something incredible. again, there was so much POTENTIAL. and all of it was wasted. everything really came to a head during the fucking game show episode. it was like lm and lds giving everyone who likes lance the middle finger, really driving home that “no no, he IS just stupid. he’s the comic releif. there’s nothing deeper about him and no one will stand up for him bc they all think of him as such.” and that just....broke my heart. we were so...SO close to lance actually mattering but nope! bolin’d again! and what was his purpose in s8? why to be an accessory to allura of course!

i’ve seen a lot of people really divorce themselves from canon and live solely for fanon, esp fanon klance but like.... i can’t. i just can’t. it’s so fucking hard to work with these cardboard characters. you can only draw so much depth onto them, you know? until the very last moments they had potential, but then it all got snuffed out. but who cares about canon? why bother with it? because! we don’t have a solid consistent fanon version of them! no one sat down and delivered the ten commandments of “here’s what we agree k and l are actually like” it’s stupid and it sucks because everyone has their own little differences and its so so tiring to basically be interacting with minutely different ocs all the goddamn time. canon matters bc it gives everyone the same base to work with. like a cooking showing with the same basket ingredients, but now it’s like.... ya’ll don’t wanna use the mandatory ingredients (and why would you? those canon ingredients are like, a century egg and spoiled sardines, they’re awful.)

okay, and im at work and just came back to this and dont remember my train of thought so like... what really threw all this into sharp clarity was the recent steven universe episodes. they were so...GOOD. so fucking good. so much plot and foreshadowing coming to a head. it was such a wonderfully satisfying payoff that it made me remember what a GOOD show is like, how vld is so very very /bad/. the difference is fucking striking. where one is an intricately woven tale with excellent character development and clear story AND character arcs, that can progress AT THE SAME TIME, one is a hacked together flaming dumpster firing that constantly falls flat and doesn’t know where its going or why. and it s so BORING! like fight scenes can be amazing! they can be well coreographed and tense! and we as the audience can be anxious about the outcome! and vld just wasn’t that! it was boring repetetive action in the least exciting way. and where su set up a lot of potential, holy shit they DELIVERED on that potential. not just for rep, but for characters! for story! for plain ol simple character interactions! and then, again, two dimensional cardboard cutouts.

and now with this difference in good vs bad show so very clearly highlighted for me, i just.... i can’t, anymore, with vld. it sucks. it sucked and i can’t pretend or force a fixation with it that just isn’t there, and truthfully, probably never was. maybe that’s why i’ve been struggling to finish my fic, struggling ever since i posted the last chapter, ever since s7, which, again, that game show was really the nail in the coffin as far as holding onto any hope that this tire fire would ever pick up. like a physically feel ill trying to finishing this stupid fic bc i don’t care so hard. i don’t care and i just... really want to be over it. im sick of seeing it everywhere, im sick of the drama, of the Discourse. like all fandoms have their issues, but hold fuck does vld fandom have a massive Purity problem. like, god, let people ship whatever. who cares. die mad about it.

like homestuck, idk if i’ll ever fully ween myself off vld but i want to move on. i want to enjoy Other Things without having this lackluster weight on my shoulders. and more than anything, i want to stop feeling like im obligated to like the same shit as i did two years ago, or last year, or hell, last week! feel free to unfollow, but yeah i just.... really needed to let this out in a proper post and not in the misc tags somewhere.

Why I like them– He’s so earnest. He wants so bad to do the right thing, even if he fails miserably and winds up making things worse. And then he owns up to it and is willing to accept whatever punishment you deem fitting, even including death(or potentially Tranquility, since that’s on the table if you send him back to the Circle….) (I have the Karma’s companions mod, so his “punishment” is usually becoming a Grey Warden. HE’S MINE NOW BIOWARE)

Why I don’t–Jealousy’s an ugly color, and he could stand to think things through just a little bit more(but, I mean, he’s supposed to be 20-ish iirc. Planning and foresight are not strengths for a lot of people around that age)

Favorite scene– His appearance in the Gauntlet 

Favorite line–either this exchange or the “Who want their hair on fire?” battle chatter(though the VA work on “Am I not allowed to have regrets?” makes that a strong contender, too)

Favorite outfit–When I recruit him, he usually winds up an Arcane Warrior and I put him in the Warden Commander plate from Warden’s Keep which looks fiiine

OTP–aside from various origins(most strongly Tabris or Brosca), Jowan/Leliana all the way, man. (redemption parallels ftw)

Brotp–TRINNE AND JOWAN 5EVER(Trinne ghostwrote this. Also, in OWaP canon, I think he and Harvey are gonna get along pretty well)

Head Canon–Have a couple, bc he is one of my faves and I almost literally never stopping thinking about him this can’t be healthy /cough 1) he’s artistically inclined. It started as doodling in class when he was bored, and he did it so much he’s actually really good now 2) he’s really good at fire spells(bc that’s almost always what the game randomly gives him for me, to the point I thought for a long time all he got was fire spells) 3) given the link between magic and your will I think part of why he’s not a better mage is constantly being compared to his best friend and hearing “You’re not as good”. Unpopular opinion–I actually like his voice and don’t find it annoying at all.  

A wish–a positive-slanted reference at some point in the franchise would be nice, but since he’s not even in the Keep, I’m not holding my breath 

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen– Anything confirming in any version of canon he gets made Tranquil. I don’t care that there’s a way to reverse it. I’ve read Asunder; that didn’t go well for Pharamond.

Why I like them--He’s kind, wants to help people, perseveres no matter how many times he loses almost everything, his banters with Merrill hint at an open-mindedness no one else in the entire Chantry shows, and, I mean, the accent ofc

Why I don’t--indecisive(pot meet kettle /cough), naive in regards to the Chantry, stubborn, quick-tempered

Favorite scene– I mean…. He’s DLC, so there’s not a lot, but him bowing to Hawke’s mabari is pretty cute.

Favorite line– Oh, so many. Mostly party banters with Isabela or Merrill, though the ever popular “I think I need to pray. A lot.” is definitely up there too.

Favorite outfit–He only has one, so…. his armor.

OTP– SebAstrid /sobs

Head Canon– He has a great singing voice

Unpopular opinion– What, liking him at all isn’t unpopular enough? xD Even if Astrid went the rival path, I really like his friendship romance too. And I do not wish we’d known him in the Wild Party Boy Sebastian days over when we do meet him

A wish– More content, but only if it’s ACTUALLY Sebastian and not some demonized fanon version BioWare throws in bc casting him as a joke/jerk is an easy way to earn points with this fandom (*GLARES at DAI, specifically Varric*)

Why I like them--Dry, sarcastic sense of humor, good heart even if he screws up sometimes, clever, snarky etc etc 

Why I don’t–when he screws up, he screws up big, seems the type to hold grudges, can be excessively reckless

Favorite scene– Either saving himself from the Revanites on Rishi or running into Lorman in KotET 

Favorite line– “And here they told me if I ever kissed an Imp I’d spontaneously implode”

Favorite outfit– I do love his jacket, but he also looks good in his deep cover get-up, and the Bold Hellion armor. Or Canderous’ armor. And none of them have a collar that get in the way of screencapping kisses, so. Sorry, Red Jacket.
