I miss long seasons.

I miss seasons that had 20 episodes and half of them could be cut and nothing would be lost to the story.

I miss the episodes where nothing fucking happens but you get to see the main cast goofing around with one another. You get to see their interactions, their relationships develop, their day-to-day lives and how they all fit together in them.

You get the Christmas/halloween/valentine's special -is it needed? certainly not. but is it good? is it entertaining? does it give the show and characters life? do we, the viewers, enjoy it? YES!

give me long stories!! give me little quarrelling spats between characters that can be resolved in one episode with no need to have an impact on the greater story! make these stories real!

let me enjoy them before they end!!!

I absolutely love Hazbin Hotel and the little world that's been created, but I can't help but feel disappointed we're only getting two seasons of 8 episodes.

back in the early 2000's 16 episodes would have been ONE season, never mind the entire thing.

show my angel dust and husk and nifty and sir penthouse living their daily lives in the hotel! show me Charlie brainstorming ways to redeem sinners! give me Charlie forcing the hotel staff to do cringe-y exercises! give me an entire episode of Vox trying to follow alastor through security cameras! Give me husks typical day! Give me a special through the eyes of nifty on a mission to irradiate the hotel of bugs! Give me sir penthouse and the egg boys up to no good!

give me something other than the bare necessities to make the story flow

Demi-vox/Demivox 🗯🌗 - an alter/headmate who can only speak under certain circumstances, whether the body can or cannot

Semi-vox/Semivox 💬🌘 - an alter/headmate who can only speak sometimes and/or partially, whether the body can or cannot

Full-vox/Fullvox 🗣☀️ - an alter/headmate who can speak, whether the body can or cannot

Vox-flux/Voxflux 🗣🌓 - an alter/headmate with fluctuating ability to speak, whether the body can or cannot

Possible Hot Take

I dislike the idea that Keyleth HAS TO get over Vax now. I dislike the idea of putting a time frame on grief. You can't impose your own ideas of what it means to grieve for ANYONE. You can't decide when it's time for someone else to 'get over it' because it's been 'x' amount of time. That's stupid and how dare you.

The idea that Keyleth has to get over Vax because she is going to live a long time and that would suck to be alone is silly. Because she ages 1 year physically for every like 10 years that pass. So in reality with her lifespan it's been 3 YEARS since she lost him. That's all. 3 in the way her life is going to go. The inference that Scanlan should make her forget him is also so horrible. I know it comes from a place of love but it's really terrible and if she doesn't consent to it a little like assault. If she would ask him to do it that would be different but if he makes a decision for her about her mind and body its not much different than those politicians who want to do the same with other women.

If I were in the same position and I lost my husband. I wouldn't get over it. I know it. I wouldn't date. I wouldn't marry again. He is my One Great Love and if I lost him it would break me into pieces. I didn't even date him or seek him out. I'm not conventionally attractive and they way we even started dating was so 'fated' that it was silly. He was my next door neighbor for YEARS and we went to the same school and I didn't look at him twice for a long time until we started at the same job. He wanted to date my best friend. But he ended up liking me more and we've been married for 12 years (in 3 days). He's the other half of my heart.

Keyleth doesn't have to do anything. She can yearn for the rest of her life if that is what happens. Will it suck? Yeah. But it's HER LIFE not anyone else's to decide.

Sinners Become Human | Hazbin Hotel AU

Concept: For one week every month, the sinners of hell take on their human forms and all the good and bad that comes with it.

Once The Extermination is postponed till further notice, Charlie and Emily work to get sinners interested in redemption.

Unfortunately, they are unsuccessful and they have no idea how to convince sinners to take a chance and better themselves to get into Heaven.

The former humans (Angel, Husk, Alastor, Niffty) at the Hotel attempt to cheer her up by explaining human nature and how Hell and their demonic forms only exacerbate the disconnect from their humanity and make it more difficult to want to do good things.

And that gives her an idea. She can't change Hell itself (yet) when no one will work with her but she CAN bridge the gap...

In place of the Extermination, sinner demons will take on their human forms one week in every month. They will have no access to their powers, deals, or contracts during this duration.

And if you're killed as a human, you can't respawn until the week is over.

Sera and Lucifer are forced to work together once Emily & Charlie enthusiastically propose the idea. And sinners all over Hell wonder what fresh torture this is and if they should consider Heaven just to escape this bullshit.

An exploration of morality, community, perseverance, and what it means to be human. Exploring the concept of dehumanization and how sinners unintentionally view themselves and their fellow demons as less than human because of their demonic forms.

I just binge-read @birdsaretoddlers's Static Shock and hoooooly crap it's amazing.

I used it as inspiration to test some new pens!

Idea based on a fic I saw (I cannot remember the name for the life of me, it was a radiostatic series of oneshots that's Amazing.) where Charlie put consent filters in place across Hell, essentially screwing over Valentino (and Vox, who gained power via people watching his stuff.). If you know the name, please tell it to me so I can put a link here because it's just awesome.

Okay, but imagine that happens, okay? Charlie puts consent filters in place, everybody's 'happy'.

Except.

Except the wording is something along the lines of 'if consent is not given to be on camera, even by a bound soul, the video or photo is liable to be taken down and the offender severely punished. If their job requires filming, they have the right to refuse to do whichever act it is that makes them uncomfortable and be subjected to full pay.' It sucks. The wording is just so bad, this new law is easily abused.

Essentially, Charlie just fucked over everybody who uses a camera in Hell. (I am 100% of the belief that Charlie means well, and she's not stupid, even if I think she's a bit naive in canon (not in a completely bad way, just she's relatively innocent and trusting for literal HELL), but she just... does not understand how stuff works at times, because she grew up as a semi-sheltered royal or whatever. Something.)

The Vees are just royally screwed with this in place. Valentino's workers all realize they can abuse this, even the ones that like their jobs, Velvette's getting hounded right and left by people that were in the background shots of her social media posts and half her models are gone, and Vox. Vox ends up running VoxTek and all its subsidiaries, plus doing 80% of his own programming himself and only managing to keep any movies done by people that are in it for the fame/experience, plus keeping his business partners in check, PLUS trying to negotiate for it to be taken down or at least fixed so they can stop paying the hundreds of employees they have that just quit working and providing revenue while also getting paid AND. In addition to all that, frantically trying to dismantle all his cameras yesterday.

He is just not having a good time.

I really want to see a more fucked up version of Charlie in canon. Like, okay, I am a die-hard for sweet bubbly girls in media. But I always see how some people make Charlie actually, oh I dunno... demonic? And it's so refreshing for her type of character. I could honestly see her having low empathy (and we kinda see this with how she handled Angel's situation or even Vaggie's nervousness about taking control on an activity). An exploration of that trait (if it was intended) would be interesting to see for a protagonist, especially when her main goal is about helping others. I would love to see her actually have a level of difficulty in understanding others' feelings from the other residents, sinners, and even her father.

But give her a fucked up side. Not a "she gets more power when she's angey uwu", but a "oh, she's a little fucked in the head". It would give so much to her character that she just doesn't have.

@/murmurmurena (don't wanna bother them so slash there we go) has some fun ideas with Charlie. I highly encourage people to check their stuff out! So many fun dark ideas with her character while also still keeping to her canon personality pretty well! Personally, I think Charlie being a bit more naive to her own messed up traits would work best but her also being aware of these traits can make for some interesting character for her.

THIS FIC, "A Game Between You and I". RIGHT HERE WITH THE FIRST CHAPTER. A bit of spoil for the fic here: but I love how they handled Charlie’s absolute ignorance as to why the idea of Russian roulette is horrifying to Angel Dust. It doesn't feel like her being intentionally malicious or aware that she's the odd man out here. This is also a pretty old fic going by only the pilot, but the point still stands that it was such a fun take for her character!

Charlie is one of my favorite characters in the show in part of the POTENTIAL she could have as being the most bubbly sweetheart character while also being the most messed up character in the show. I can't say I have strong confidence with the show's writing and fully expect them to stick with Charlie being the "nice girl but oh no, don't get her angry or she gets scarwy". Which isn't bad for a character mind you, there's just so much more potential to Charlie outside of that trope, especially when you get into the theories of her either being a doll, Roo's biological daughter, or what have you. And for the MAIN CHARACTER of the show, it would be not only interesting but also bring the spotlight back to her.

There's really no question that the side characters steal the show, particularly all the male characters. If I'm honest, Charlie does not feel like she gets a lot of love from the show itself when she's supposed to be the main character. She feels far more flat compared to the rest of the characters (again, the male cast in this "female-lead" show has more depth than most of the female cast currently. I wouldn't be pointing this tidbit concerning the genders of characters if it weren't for the fact Viv defended Helluva's lack of development with their female cast by saying "Hazbin is a female-lead show and Helluva is a male-lead" and Hazbin ended up with it not feeling female lead (to me) and the male cast just completely stealing the show. I don't normally care about gender stuff, especially since I do personally lean interest towards male characters. But using one show as a defense for poor development of the female characters, and then that show not really holding up with no very interesting well-developed feeling female characters irritates me. It's just very clear that these shows don't seem to care much about the female cast :/)

If you like how Charlie is written that's totally fine. PERSONALLY, I just think they're missing so much opportunity with her character by just making her the standard female character type. I honestly don't have a lot of faith they'll actually do something with Charlie's character though. She's a pretty static character in S1 being the same from start to end. Not changing or learning anything to create any development. What does the end of season Charlie do that start of season Charlie wouldn't do? Fight back? Because we see with the pilot (which is the “first episode”) that Charlie does fight people if pushed like with Katie Killjoy and even Valentino. Static characters can work in media depending on the show or their role. But Charlie is the MC of a show about “bettering one's self”. So to have her as a static with not a lot of strong dilemmas for herself (like we see with Angel Husk Al and even Vox) seems silly. Plus, considering Hazbin is telling a whole story and it's not a fun episodic thing, characters are expected to grow on some level. Or else, what was the point of their hero's journey?

Idgaf- that’s his canon sexuality (which also means that I won’t write ships such as Angel and Vaggie, due to their sexualities).
