A/n Hello! So this is my first fic :P I’m not that proud of it, and it’s weird in some places but I needed something to kick start the creative juices. Hope you enjoy!

Being Tony Starks son had afforded you many opportunities in life, most of which you’d opted out of in favor of a quieter life. You’d always been that way, always shied away from the camera when you were a kid and your dad would take you out, spending most of your time in your room as a teenager to ignore the hustle and bustle of your dads life. But now, as an adult, you found that this self-induced isolation worked more as a counter weight for success than it did anything else. You weren’t the best at interacting with people, and you took on a bit of your fathers short temper, so naturally this meant you didn’t have very many friends. A few that still lingered from high school, sure, but no one you could regularly talk to besides your father. So Tony, being the observant parent he was, decided it was high time he pulled you out of this sort of life style.

And the best way to do this? Let you join the avengers of course!…well sorta. He was still your dad after all, so going out into the field was off limits. But you were allowed to tinker down in his lab with the equipment, talk to the others and tell them your plans for upgrading their weapons. It was easy for you to get used to the new environment, Tony had warned the team of your standoffish-ness, so they took care to be gentle and patient with you while you warmed up to them. The more time you spent around the team, the closer you grew to them. You could make fun of your dad with Steve and Bucky, talk boys with Natasha who’d always longed to have a little brother, conduct fun science experiments with Bruce, and of course, explore the streets of New York with Clint.

Thor was hard to spend time with, usually he was off doing…well whatever a God did when he could fly through space. And when he was on Earth it was typically just to drop Loki off when there was no one to watch the mischievous God back on Asgard so that the team could in a sense babysit him. You had taken a certain liking to Loki. You found he was the easiest to talk to, it seemed he spent just as much time holed up in his room as you did so it was easy for you two to relate to each other. He was really the only person you could just sit in silence with and do your own thing. He’d be on the couch reading a book while you finished a few calculations for a new experiment, not worrying about the awkwardness of the still air since there was simply nothing to be awkward about.

Everyone could see the way you two clicked, how Lokis shoulders seemed to relax when you were around, how his eyes lingered on your for just a little longer than they did the others, and how he always had this sort of fond look in his eyes when you spoke as opposed to the one of disdain he held with everyone else. Everybody could see that something more was bound to happen, including Tony. He wasn’t keen on his son, his brightest star, his pride and joy, being with someone like Loki. And you knew that, of course you did. There was no way you couldn’t notice how he’d usher you out of the room to ‘fix some reactor’ whenever he’d seen you and Loki getting just a bit too close for his liking. Or how he seemed to stare Loki down whenever the god would glance over in your direction.

But it seemed that on a certain day the universe was in your favor, Tony was off at a meeting that you, frankly, didn’t care enough about to remember what it was for, and the rest of the team was either on a mission or training down in the gym. Which meant that for the first time you and Loki were completely alone together. You’d both opted to stay in your room Instead of the living room. You said there was ‘more to do’ and Loki was not about to argue with being behind a closed door with you. You wanted to take the moment to tell him how you felt, to confess your attraction to him in hopes he’d feel the same. But it felt like your mouth was taped shut. You’d never confessed to someone before, you had no idea what you were doing! You were more afraid of embarrassing yourself at this point than you were getting rejected.

You tried to bring it up multiple times. All without luck.

“Uhm…Hey, Loki,” you asked as you tentatively looked over at him

“Mhm yes, [Y/N]?” He questioned back

You felt the little bit of confidence you had slip away as he looked over at you with a gentle smile, you returned one back before shaking your head and staring back at the tv

“Never mind..forgot what I was gonna say” He could tell you were lying, and that you were nervous, but he wasn’t going to push it.

The second time you got just a bit further

“Loki” you’d say suddenly

“Yes my dear?” He’d reply

“I just..I wanted to say that I like-“the words were coming out of your mouth quicker than you could process what he’d said. The little nickname flushed your face a bright red and, once again, your confidence was gone.

“I like the book you’re reading.” You’d say hurriedly, hoping he wouldn’t get suspicious. He was. He knew you’d never read his book.

The third time, you decided, you were finally going to spit it out. Get it over and done with before you could make a fool of yourself again.

With a deep breath you pulled the book away from him and tossed it to the other end of the bed

“Loki look. I don’t know how to do…this” you gestured between the both of you

“I’ve been trying all day and the words just keep getting lost, but I want to do this now while everyone is away.” You looked up at him for the first time since you started speaking, his eyes were soft, his lips had a little smile on them. Not the slick grin he typically had, no, this one was kind and showed you nothing but adornment.

“I..I really like you. More than I think a friend should like another friend. And- and I wanted to be more than that- friends I mean. I want to be more than friends. With you” you rambled on, looking up at Loki once again for a reaction.

All he could do was stare down at you, searching for any sort of untruth behind your eyes. There was no possible way someone as incredible as you could have fallen for him, he thought himself a monster, unlovable. But here you were, telling him with your whole heart how much you liked him. But you took his silence as something else, as rejection. Like he was just looking for the right way to let you down easy. Your nerves were going wild, tears going to your eyes less from rejection and more from the sheer anxiety running through you.

“You don’t uhm you don’t have to feel the same. I just needed to tell you-“ he put his hand behind your head, pulling you closer so he could connect your lips with his and affectively end your rambling by shutting you up. You were shocked for a second before reality set in and you were closing your eyes, your hands coming to rest on his shoulders while his moved down to your waist to pull you on to his lap. You had always assumed you’d get the cliche sparks flying when you kissed Loki, but this was so much more than that. The sparks felt like little bursts compared to the sheer amount of love Loki was pouring into the kiss, you didn’t even know this much emotion could be put into one movement. You felt about ready to cry your eyes out at how overwhelmingly intense the kiss was.

Loki pulled away just before you lost your breath, you whining at the loss of contact anyways “no need for that, my love” he said, the pad of his thumb coming to wipe the small tear from under your eye “I’m sorry that for even a second you thought I didn’t feel the same way…I was just shocked. All my life I didn’t think I’d find someone I cared for as deeply as I do you. I’ve watched those around me fall in love, and I always thought that luck just was not in my favor for that. But here you are, you come along and suddenly my entire world is turned upside down in…in the most wonderful way I’ve ever known. I’m completely and utterly in love with you, please never for a second think that I’m not”

He pulled you into yet another kiss like he had to prove to you through something other than words that he meant what he said. You moved your hands to cup his face, pecking his lips three times before pulling away to look at him. “I don’t think my dads gonna be very happy about this” you said softly, but he only laughed. Shaking his head as he wrapped his arms completely around your waist, pulling you in so you were flush against each other. “What he doesn’t know won’t kill him” and you could only agree.

You’d worry about your father’s reaction later, for now you just wanted to enjoy the blossoming relationship you had with Loki.

Chapter 3 - Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm

Summary: The best way to a man's - or a god's - heart is through his stomach.

Warnings: Fluff, silliness, an infomercial that's not meant to offend anyone.

You turned the knob of the television in the living room, letting a soap opera play in the background while you washed the dishes - including those from Loki's breakfast - and preheated the oven. Then, following the cookbook's instructions, you prepared the batter for an angel food cake, a dessert you were hoping to dress with whipped cream and strawberries for your - yes, you were really saying it - husband. If there were two jars of strawberry jam, maybe it meant that Loki really liked strawberries. Or there was some kind of two-for-one deal at the store. 

While the cake baked in the oven, you took a shower after tinkering with the hot and cold faucets. With a towel wrapped around yourself when you were done, you shuffled your feet into the master bedroom. You opened one of the large wardrobes opposite from the window, finding an entire rack of crisp white shirts and brown dress pants - probably Loki's uniform for work - along with tuxedos and pajamas. You didn't think about opening the drawers beneath the racks of clothing, assuming they would be filled with your husband's underwear and socks. 

Speaking of underwear…where was the laundry room? You made a mental note to find it at some point, so you could use the washing machine. Also, did Loki wear boxers or briefs? Biting your lip, you brought yourself to imagine which of the two it could be, thinking of the way you checked out his ass that morning while making breakfast. How nicely the fabric hugged the curve of his rear. It definitely had to be boxers, surely briefs would've left some kind of outline. Or…what if he wasn't wearing any underneath those pants? You bit the inside of your cheek and crossed your arms, still damp from your shower. 

The smell of vanilla wafting into the bedroom silently reminded you that the cake was done, like an invisible tap on the shoulder. You snapped out of your reverie, looked through the other wardrobe and found a flattering midi-dress to wear over a lacy bra and a girdle. Now dressed, you took the golden-brown, light to the touch, warm cake out of the oven and let it cool. Meanwhile, the soap opera on the living room television was now replaced by a vague infomercial for a fancy kitchen gadget made by Stark Industries. You didn't know what it really did, or how much it cost, but it was apparently 'life-changing', 'ground-breaking', and only made by Stark Industries. 

It didn't take long for you to find a few other gadgets laying around the house. Inside a closet within the hallway was a vacuum cleaner, which you used to clean the living room and the other carpets in the house. Not that there was anything much to clean, considering the house seemed spotless to begin with. While you moved the vacuum around the welcome mat, you looked over your shoulder at a new infomercial.

"Are you tired of playing the dating game over and over again? Exasperated by the lack of paramours unwilling to cuddle with you? Does the loneliness of the night bring you sadness? Tired of all the nights alone with you and your fingertips? Do you wish for an attractive sweetheart you can flaunt to your friends and family, and to all the nosy strangers who ask why you're still single? Introducing the newest product from Cambridge Technologies, TOM H."

The spokesperson gestured to a six-foot tall male with perfectly combed dark-blonde hair with a slight curl, wearing a navy blue blazer and a matching set of trousers with a light blue dress shirt underneath. "Look at him," the spokesperson beamed. "His cheekbones are so sharp, I could grate cheese on them!"

The male smirked. "I love cheese, 'specially when paired with wine. And the company of a lovely lady."

Wait…this man looked familiar. Where had you seen him before? Squinting, you turned off the vacuum and began to fluff the pillows on the couch, keeping your eyes on the screen.With a fake laugh, the spokesperson turned to face the camera.

"Short for Technologically-Optimized Male Humanoid, TOM H. is equipped with the ability to speak seven different languages, including French, Spanish, and even Latin. He can open doors for your, pull your chair out, hold an umbrella for you when it rains, and even apologize for calling you beautiful! That's right, ladies, he's got every single piece of etiquette mastered at the back of his hand. You continued to reluctantly clean the living room while the spokesperson continued to brag about the abilities of this supposedly life-like android. How many other people were watching this advertisement right now? And were any of them actually considering buying this android? Moreover, how would one actually take care of an android? Did it require charging like any other electronic device? Did it pretend to sleep at night?

On-screen, the spokesperson showed the android relaxing in bed, wearing nothing but boxers, and droned on and on about the android's ability to give warm cuddles and recite poetry at the drop of a hat. Then the scene changed to the android standing in the kitchen, wearing a black apron over a three-piece suit and preparing some kind of pasta dish. The android gave a cheeky smile to the camera, as if it was perfectly aware that somewhere, some touch-starved single person would be watching and immediately reach for their checkbook. 

"Call the number on-screen," the spokesperson announced, "and for just four separate payments of $599.99, TOM H. can be all yours. And for a bonus payment of $49.99, we'll throw in a blue jumper!

Please note that all clothes are sold separately, including the boxers. Cambridge Technologies is not responsible for the android crying. The android may experience urges to play with puppies and babies, do kind deeds for strangers, or dance in public. For optimal performance, we ask that you refrain from raising your voice in the presence of the android, and to feed the android tea every six hours."

"Oh my god." You gulped, standing still for a moment. The commercial finally ended with an image of the android giving the spokesperson a shoulder massage, and smiling at the camera. You switched the channel, and put away the vacuum, shuddering at what you'd just seen.

The next thing to worry about was the spaghetti bolognese, another recipe from the cookbook you chose for tonight Luckily there was a pack of ground mince in the fridge, otherwise you would've had to either rush to the supermarket - wherever that was - or pick something else to make for Loki's dinner. With the cookbook propped open on the kitchen countertop, you flipped to the recipe and did your best to follow every instruction. Chop the carrots, the celery, the onion, and the bacon, it said…Then, heat the pot with a generous amount of butter, add bacon…Put the rest of the vegetables in the pan, along with the mince. While that cooked in the pan, you opened a can of tomatoes from the pantry, poured it into the pan, causing it to sizzle loud enough to overpower the television for a moment. The final ingredients to add were dried herbs, a splash of red wine, and for some reason…milk. 

After moving the cake to the center of the table, you stirred the pot with the Bolognese mixture until the alcohol from the wine boiled off. The final step, according to the cookbook, was to place the entire pot in the oven at one-hundred eighty degrees Celsius for…well, enough time to stew everything. 

You closed the oven door with a sigh, wiping a trace of sweat on your forehead before taking a box of spaghetti out of one of the cupboards. Yes it was true that you'd only known Loki for a few hours, not even a whole day. And yet, you found yourself wishing and hoping that he would be pleased when he walked into the door. That when he opened the door, the smell of dinner would entice him to the table, and the sight of you would entice him into your arms. Maybe it was because of the way he looked at you this morning, with affection in his eyes as if you were the most priceless thing in his life.

As the noodles cooked in a pot of boiling water, you dressed the cake with whipped cream and chopped-up strawberries, and then chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, and red onions for a side dish.  Within about thirty minutes, you had a pot of cooked spaghetti dressed in bolognese  sauce, a lettuce-free salad dressed with olive oil and red wine vinegar, and an angel food cake reserved for dessert. And just as a finishing touch, you set the dining table for two and lit a few candles. 

"Darling, we're home! Something smells amazing." Interview With a Writer

Story: Leverage

Paring: Michael Gavey x Female!Reader

So, when did you start writing?

I guess I have to say as a teenager, though I never shared anything I wrote back then. I still have the notebooks I used to drabble in (in Dutch), it wasn’t very good at all but I guess even back then I had that need to be creative and make my own stories.

I officially started writing fanfic in 2013. I watched Thor the Dark World, fell in love with Loki, made a Tumblr and a whole new world opened. After a few months of reading fanfic, I started writing my own. Again, it wasn’t very good at all but even my bad stories slowly started to find an audience on here, so I stuck with it.

Loki is amazing, just Aemond energy in a different font.

He truly is! I've written different characters since, but the moment I saw Aemond on screen I was transported back to the first time I saw Loki. His intensity, that quiet threat like you don't know what he's going to do next, combined with this, "I was made to be king but my stupid brother is the chosen one."

And a certain sadness, of course. We know they're the villains, but we understand them in a way and can feel their pain. And they are sexy as hell of course ;)

Where did the plot for Leverage come from?

Okay, so first of all, I am someone who never plans an entire plot when I start a fic. I am very much a "make it up as I go along" writer. I start with an idea and a dynamic I want to write between two characters and then I build from there.

For this one I wanted Reader and Michael to have a common goal and a common enemy, something that would push these two different characters to want to work together. I wanted the enemies to lovers vibe but soft. Like, you can tell very early on in the fic that they have empathy for each other. When Reader is crying, Michael softens up easily, and when she sees Michael being vulnerable about not being able to get girls, she feels for him as well.

Their personalities will still clash even after that, but you can (hopefully) feel the connection between them as well. I wanted Ben's threat to loom over them for the entire fic but also never make it the main plot point in every chapter. The main plot for me here was how Michael and Reader could help each other change and grow, and then either accept that change or turn away from it.

Was there anything in specific that inspired your Reader portrayal?

No, not really, I think. I wanted to make her independent and confident, but also a little bit lonely, all traits you can also find in Michael. And anything else, as usual, I make up as I go along. I get to know the characters as I write them and often I'm surprised where they take me. In this fic I think it was Michael who surprised me the most though, he really turned out different than I initially had planned.

Explain your interpretation of Michael. What drives him? How did he differ from what you originally had in mind?

Salburn didn't give us much to work with, and I actually love that because it gives us so much freedom to play with the character.

I went with what the movie did give us: Michael's obvious hatred for the popular privileged kids. It's the reason he initially hates Reader, but warms up to her when he learns that she is actually working for her place at Oxford and she is not a real part of Ben's group. I think he is driven to help her purely because of that common enemy in the beginning.

Then he gets to know her a little and the promise of sex comes into play, which he definitely doesn't say no to. What surprised me in writing him is that I initially planned on writing him as a sub throughout the entire fic, but then half way in the tables started turning and he started taking over control a bit (of the Reader and me as well apparently!). And then suddenly it made complete sense to write him that way, because he would be that overeager student who wants to do well and who does the homework to get it exactly right, it doesn't matter whether it's math or sex, he wants to show how good and smart he is.

Him just accepting his feelings for her so calmly was also something I didn't plan, but just sort of happened as I was writing.

My initial plans there was going to be a big fight between her and Michael right before they would call things off. He would force her to admit her feelings and the sex would turn quite rough; Michael just being Michael and saying a lot of wrong things to her that would eventually shut her down completely. But I never wrote that scene and by the time I got there in the story it didn't seem to fit their characters anymore and it also seemed too heavy for this fic so I let go of that idea.

Do you feel your Reader and Michael complement one another?

I definitely think they complement each other, but I also think they are quite alike in many ways. As I said before, they are both quite confident in different ways and insecure in others.

I do think they complement each other perfectly with Michael being more book smart and focused, while Reader is (a lot) better with people and social skills. I think them being together changes them both for the better cause they can learn from each other's personalities and bring out the best out in each other (but also the worst, of course).

Let's say that in their future they definitely learn to focus on bringing out the best and not the worst in each other ;)

Do you think you'll ever continue their story?

Never say never, but there's no plans to write more for them for now. I don't think I've written many sequels over the years, but I love writing different ideas and dynamics between two characters and once they are together, it's like "my work here is done."

Do you have a personal favorite story (on ao3 or Tumblr) you'd like to share?

My absolute favorite story is from a previous fandom that I'm not in anymore, but I have to share that one as it is the single most beautiful thing I've ever read. It was the fic that pulled me into the fandom. It's a Stucky story and it's called Not Easily Conquered, known as NEC in the fandom.

It will crush your soul and heal you and I will give anyone the same advice I got before I read it for the first time: be prepared because this one will hurt. I cried for like a week after I read it and I don't cry easily so this one should come with a warning. But it is absolutely worth it!

Do you have another story in the works?

The only thing I'm working on right now is a Felix Catton x Reader story called Pretty Little Liars. Two chapters have been posted and I'm working on the next ones, but it may be a while as life has been a bit full on here lately.

Would you like to share a snippet of what's to come?

“I think he has a little crush on you,” you stated while Felix opened the door to his room and let you step inside first. Felix shook his head but the little blush on his cheeks didn’t go unnoticed by you. “It’s not like that,” he denied, “He’s just…a bit lost and I’m trying to be his friend.” “You sure that’s all he wants?” “Yeah,” he laughed, “Ollie doesn’t want me, he just wants to be like me.” “If you say so,” you sighed, not convinced. Felix grabbed you by the shoulders and pushed you down to sit on the side of his bed, leaning forward to look into your eyes, “Hey, come on, don’t ruin this by becoming jealous.” “I’m not jealous, I’m…concerned.” That wasn’t a lie. Jealousy was never a factor, you knew right from the start that Felix would never truly be yours, you would always have to share him with the rest of the world. And you always accepted that. But the idea of sharing him with Oliver somehow made your blood boil. Felix kneeled down in front of you, eyes locking with yours as his gaze darkened and he smiled that irresistible smile of his. “Now, did you come up here to chat about Ollie, or to get your pussy eaten, hmm? Cause I can’t do both at the same time.” His lips connected with your knee, kissing your skin softly and you bit your lip and sighed deeply, “Fine, I’ll shut up.”

Bright lights flash on his face. He feels a little panicked, but when he smells your perfume, he feels a little more calm. You smile when you realize he’s awake. Android 17 fights against the restraints that keep him firmly placed on the examination table. He trusts you, mostly. You are still Dr. Gero’s assistant after all. But with the way you treat him, 17 knows that you can be trusted. This is just frightening for him, though. He is worried that maybe you have some sort of sinister test waiting for him.

“Good to see you awake,” you say as you come closer to him. “Dr. Gero was beginning to worry.”

Flashbacks of a struggle and then being injected with something flash through 17’s mind. He knows that it’s because of his reluctance to these tests that he has to endure such treatment. Whenever 17 has to take a test, he always prefers it would be you administering it. Often it is Dr. Gero, who is so much more rough with him than you are. 17 shudders when you push back some of his hair.

“Are you ready for the male hormone test now? It’s really simple, and I think you’ll enjoy it.” You question him, and he sighs.

“Like I have a choice,” 17 spits out. He is completely restrained to the table. It’s a comfortable table at least.

You walk over to the desk in the corner and you begin typing something into the computer.
