A friend introduced me to the game Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival (by adamgryu on itch.io) and I was so thoroughly charmed by it that I dropped everything to plan out a carving. Pumpkin carving is very serious business after all. :]

I really didn't expect it to come out this well! The carving in that game is a technical marvel but it is uhhhh fussy. And not very precise. And while you get an undo button, there's no eraser or means to sketch!

I descended into madness a lil' bit on Siffrin, but they're recognizable! Success!! RIP to his eyebrow and silver pins though. The mental gymnastics required for his eye/hair and hand did collateral damage to them. Loop's hand also took me like 6 tries lmfao.

Go to the Forgotten World alternate universe, turn right from the spawn point, and hang right following the road. You should see a big arch sign for "Dusty Fields." Follow the road under it, and my pumpkin is on the left near the red barn!

Time taken on the digital art part was 4 hours and 7 minutes. Loop took half the time Siffrin did, they were MADE for the polygon lasso tool. No clue how long I spent head-in-hands-ing on the carving part, haha.

Bonus WIP lore! I did a little test to get a feel for the restrictions of carving before I started drawing, and behold their magnificence:

Can you see why I was surprised the final pumpkin came out good? I had "Expectation VS Reality" jokes ready to go, but they were unnecessary. 😂

- [ ] She has deep burgundy red hair due to fire based abilities (wip)

- [ ] Amber eyes / almost orange in the right light

- [ ] 6 little dark freckles/moles that are in a straight line all the way down her cheek starting from the far side of her left eye, almost like a tear left stain, like me, (lore thing I’m still thinking about)

- [ ] Depending on what I use her for she has short curly/wavy hair or long curls.

- [ ] Likes peach scented body oil. (😏)

- [ ] Used to look mean - but she is gentle inside.

- [ ] Has to touch everything that’s soft if she walks by it, soft blanket? Gotta touch. Soft monkey? Gotta touch. Also likes being wrapped in cozy soft things. (Likes lots of pillows and blankets on her bed - she runs warm though so likes the air to be cool)

- [ ] Not a big drinker but will have a drink or two. Doesn’t mind a drunk monkey.

- [ ] Her weapons are similar to Kratos, (dual blades that can be smoldering etc and have chains she can use to throw them and pull them back. She likes to make big explosions 💀

- [ ] Under her outfit she wears chest wraps to keep girlies together and tight to her chest. She wears the equivalent of panties but a loincloth sash covers her ass and front- legs exposed - this way if she loses her outer wear due to her fire she isn’t nakey.

- [ ] Curses internally a lot- sometimes out loud.

- [ ] Again, seems tough/uncaring but she is the most accepting person (as long as you aren’t genuinely bad/do bad shit) and will be the mom friend.

- [ ] Enjoys taking care of DO/WK. wants always help him, he’s her best friend. (Eventual lover)

- [ ] Wants him to feel cared for - and that she’d be there for him.

- [ ] in alt universe’s she would fight the fuckers at the begin of the game for him. Or by his side. She would genuinely die to keep him from having to resign himself to dying just to be free.

None of this is fine tuned but it’s the basic of whatever I got. I changed some stuff to suit my needs so…so I’m sorry if it’s a bit confusing but here we go!

This is a version of her specifically meant to know Wukong before BMW events. (Other versions of her like modern au or whatever I need her for don’t follow this but have similar things)

She is an immortal, one birthed of fire, chaos, destruction, (rebirth if you think about how fire culls the land for new life to grow), the embodiment of the roaring fires on the sun basically.

So in her younger days she is not exactly well liked, shes strong and was someone who didn’t like to held down. She didn’t outright disobey or was rebellious but if something wasn’t right or if she felt slighted/felt someone was slighted she would make that shit known. Quick to anger.

Because of this she had pissed off the wrong person, they placed a curse on her - (again not fine tuned) and it basically is like a black tar root that starts from her heart and starts spreading and coiling around her body the more emotion she feels, specifically negative ones like (seen negative) anger, hatred, fear, all those kinds of emotions.

She can heal, but the pain and the curse will spread to such agonizing levels that if she pushes it too far it will take over her body and encapsulate her/put out the fire in her which keeps her immortal. She of course tries to break the curse but there isnt anything that works. It’s like a spore that is attached to her heart that has molded to her and wont go.

Unfortunately this makes her shut down emotionally, she doesnt have a support system so as much as she tries to fight the agony gets worse and worse. Her fire dims, not dead, just dims. Kavara at this point just does her duties, keeps to herself, and represses all emotions whatsoever. She’s free of pain and honestly doesnt have to worry about shit, so it becomes her new norm.

In comes Sun Fucking Wukong.

The charming egotistical chaotic monkey yaoguai that wants to play immortal. She hears of him mostly, but remains indifferent. Until one day they finally meet.

Probably the worst thing that happens to a lot of people actually…..because Sun Wukong is the first to make her laugh. Ever. Not one of those “haha i am victorious” laughs she might have had when fighting back in the day. No, a full on belly aching laugh. Tears down her face and a wide pretty smile, something she honestly wasn’t capable of/thought she had. (She’s beautiful but never thought about it I guess)

This is the first time she realizes that HAPPY or positive emotions dont make the curse spread.

Wukong of course takes this as his sign to KEEP making her laugh (when he isnt being a little shit in heaven and to others).

Over time they do become friends, he learns of her curse, she learns of his goals. Unfortunately for everyone else Wukong influences her to stop being an emotionless doll and she becomes his partner in crime. Best chaotic duo ever.

THERES MORE BUT THIS IS JUST SOME OF HER STORY!!!

I didn’t wanna give the WHOLE lore, if you want more let me know. It’s quite a bit and a mix of angst & happiness.

Same with a version of her that meets Destined One. It’s a different AU and one that is a bit on the angsty side but I will ALWAYS give a happy ending.

Okay, well to summarise (there will be spoilers but also this comes on early on so its not too big of a deal)

Abyss comes from the au Abysstale, sometimes called "Celltale." He and the rest of his au code was erased. How does this not kill everyone in the au? Well, via the sacrifice of the most determined individual, of course , idk man. It's like...anime logic or something. This technically makes Abyss and the rest of Abysstale "codeless," making them unable to be assessed via the Doodlesphere and theoretically OT doors as well. The reason the au is sometimes called "Celltale" is because Abyss, his brother and presumably others are made of a new type of "soul" called "CELLS". It's explained that its theorized monster souls are unfinished and via completing it with DNA monsters are able to achieve a new level of magic and invulnerability. Thats putting it simply but there's a more in depth explanation in this lore dump in the new abysstale. To note, it's not like they can't die; they just can't be altered by changes in code.

BUT SIT DOWN, we haven't gotten to the main conflict yet.

Due to an incident involving some mysterious creature Abyss' papyrus falls into critical condition. Due to the brothers unique composition they cannot be healed by normal monster magic so Alicia (Abysstale Alphys) creates a teleporter so can move papyrus to a location with more resources safely but OH NO the teleporter goes wacky funky and that's how they end up the multiverse. Accidental teleportation.

🌦️Dark Sun and 🔅Servant Sun

I tried my hand at designing Servant Sun and Dark Sun.

I'm getting more caught up on the lore!! Click underneath for art closeups and more Lore rants and AU idea! Plus, I have sketches and a comic WIP I've been working on.

There will be rambly spoilers to where I am in the Lore.

For Dark Sun I was inspired a lot by the thumbnails, they give him red eyes a lot in the thumbnails and I like the smarmy red eyed look of the guy. Tried to capture his 'regal-holier then thou' attitude in his design. He's still Sun though, so I used OG Sun's palette (my first Sun design!) to reflect the fact they have the same beginnings. I don't trust anything he says but I know something has totally happened to his Moon (I'm really banking on the idea he ATE him/ ATE his intelligence chip) so he carries his Moon's bell and he also repurposed the star pattern of Moon to parade it around as like a symbol his Moon is at his heal. I don't know if I like his final look but I think it's because I gave him dramatically darker shading vs the other Suns.

Servant Sun! Here's my take on him. He's been suffering for over 10000+ years under Lord Eclipse abuse. We saw how he was being punished just because Lore Eclipse was bored! I feel really bad for this Sun, it was hard to draw a design for him. I think despite his servant title Lord Eclipse just keeps him around not only to keep himself sane but also a trophy/slave to show off to Moon and the others in the afterlife. I had this like monologue for SSun basically, "The sound of bells long ago stopped ringing for the daycare attendant turned servant but Lord Eclipse still can hear the sound of metallic chimes when the neurotic servant cleans thanks to his fanciful additions." (aka the chime of chains) He's also got an apron that's falling apart and SSun used random old fabric to patch it up (it wasn't random it was his old clothes). I was really inspired by Meagancandraw's design of Servant Sun!

Here's my AU sketches. I'm planning to clean these up and maybe color them? This is basically just the AU idea that I think Sun is going to somehow get reborn but be a being reborn from star power and negative star power? I don't know if it's possible? He becomes a mix of the two in my AU. I know some current spoilers and basically I know he may be immune to negative star energy? He can also hold Star Power uniquely and it 'taste good to him'. I will never let go of the fact he told Moon it taste nice like dried watermelon. His untrained magical outburst was also compared to be as powerful as Golden Freddy's. There's big theory he's going to die or be sacrificed but I have this idea what if he's essentially remade? idk just rambly thoughts. So yeah, he has a cool new look to go with his magical transformation.

BTW he is very sad cause he can't be near his family in this AU my brain cooked up. He's basically radiation incarnate now <3 His eyes are cracked because they're intensely pouring out Star/Negative Star power. Just a constant pull and push of power circulating in him.

this is the comic idea I have currently. I don't have a ton of motivation so any encouragement to finish this comic idea would be super appreciated! I'm not a comic-type artist so this is out of my comfort zone (I've made a few comics but usually they are pretty janky)

ON TO THE RAMBLES - spoilers BEWARE:

NEW MOON MY BOY PLS YOU ARE HIDING STUFF FROM YOUR FAMILY. BOY NO. HE IS GONNA USE RUIN TO BRING BACK SOLAR?

Blood Moon just took Ruin. Also Dark Sun repaired Ruin after Molten took him to die in the dead dimension?? BOY??? Also, Dark Sun did something to Eclipse??? Bro is plotting. I wish I could get a read on Dark Sun but I don't even know how much of the truth he's been sharing thus far. He has no reason to tell anyone the truth and so far he hasn't hurt anyone just stole a bunch of data from Moon and built a bunker to escape total dimension collapse...He's just a big wild card for me.

Then there's New Moon, He's just actually going crazy after meeting Old Moon. Sun can tell something is wrong with his brother!!! I hope he can help him but spoilers tells me otherwise. The family is trying! Earth heard out Eclipse and Eclipse is getting Earth proof that Moon is currently cray-cray. Lunar is kind of hanging near Sun and Earth because the creator is now actively trying to kidnap him. So much spicy drama.

I don't pay attention much to the Freddy side of the plot but he's also dying?? bro??? What about Francine? The missing mom/wife? Poor Francine's suffering, she needs her mom and dad! I like that Puppet is hanging around her grandchild more it is very sweet. Foxy also got his 'bestfriend' Puppet a house/condo. hmm-Mmmhmm. Definitely no romantic tensions there. Definitely not.

(side bar, I don't ship Kidscove but I do ship the Foxy and Puppet do they have a ship name? Also no hate to Kidscove I just think Foxy treats Sun like a kid a lot. I like the gooseworld Kidscove. Sun laid eggs, so wholesome.)

Lunar is just waiting for news on his trial and I am in suspense hoo boy...Then the stuff with FC being put in a new body and Frank is not happy about it. I def can tell there's big lead up to the astral bodies making a big move I just wonder what the move will be. I feel like now Lunar and FC are going to end up being more intwined then they might think.

Also I love Dazzle!!! AAAGH! She and Jack are so cute! I loved the ep Sun took Dazzle and Lunar to the store that was so sweet. Can't wait to see more of them! They're such a cute dynamic! I like seeing Lunar put his best foot forward to help Dazzle too.

I can tell Moon is slowly distancing himself from the others but it's like this odd thing where he's no longer obsessed with Solar being back per sei...but he's obsessed over how HE has to be the one to bring Solar back in his way because HE promised and he wants to be better then Old Moon and yeah...he's got a very warped perspective I feel like? But Molten and Ruin BOTH pointed out Moon is being possessed by something so I think he's definitely sick? Or something is keeping him from seeing the error of his way.

I do plan to draw Solar and Eclipse and Lord Eclipse next but I'm stuck on what I want to do for Solar's design :P I might make a poll in the future!

As an extra bit of a thank you, a writing progress update yap

APAF and BW are currently still on hiatus. Brain has not brained and due to outside influences any time i think about it, all motivation vanishes. Not even attempted chapter planning had any success so it's a real struggle at the moment. (Shoutout to that one ass on wattpad earlier this week that was leaving hate comments and tried to claim it as "innocent frustration towards the characters actions and thoughts" and not my writing. I hope the universe gives u the life u deserve) I'm too stubborn to abandon them so even if it takes 10 years. They will stay on hiatus until i have enough pre-written to start posting again. Current goal is 5 arcs (there are 15 arcs in total still remaining) for APAF and BW fully finished (3 chapters) but with 0 combined words written....it may take a while and for that im genuinly sorry to the people who are waiting on an update for those

In better news:

For the first time in 3 months I finally managed to write a whopping 800 words for a new one shot Careful What You Wish For. Shout out to that trash Lilo And Stitch remake for the glorious angst it spawned in my brain. I wont make any promises on when ill post again (as any posting is connected to APAF and BW progress) but once im actually done with it ill color it orange in my wip masterlist. Once its actually posted ill color it in with its corresponding fic length color with a link too, as will all other stories i made on the side

I also have a new wip for DPxMonsterHigh (VISP: Very Important Scaritage Project) in a way I've never seen before (aka my favorite type of wip to make). Let me just say I am beyond proud of the lore i made for this au and i genuinly cant wait to share it. Im still working on making my final pre-writing notes but im also planning a mini comic that spoils a main plot point at the same time so do please look forward to that. I'll be able to share the final panel of the mini comic before the story released but the precursors will need to wait until the posted chapters are at that point (shout out to xen for coping with the severe levels of yap this thing has caused and with the combined effort of karra as well for helping with the hell that is this mini comic)

I mentioned some months ago in a comment on here that i would have Astray done by summer. I have that fic now fully planned out to start writing as well as an accompanying mini comic but i have yet to have any spoons for the actual tippy tappying or arting for it. Its not much of a progress update but know that i am just trying to fix the severe spoon shortage before writing can start

I have tried to work on Let The Wind Carry Your Call as well as The Game Of Family (check out the art i did make in case anybody is interested) but both of those are currently stuck at the part that covers Jason's death and ya gorl does not have the emotional stability to handle that atm. Overall very little progress but still progress nonetheless

The Curse Of Afterlife has been mentally fully plotted but my notes are still incomplete. The ability to cross off a plotpoint/scene is what had been helping as of late so im trying to stick to that structure

Not only did i finish fully plotting and chaptering Phantom Guardian, it now has a yet to be named sequel that is halfway planned out. I want to wait with calling PG1 ready to start writing in case details in PG2 will require retconning the current plot but it is nearing completion and awaiting available spoons

I hope this counts for something so rest assured, when I return to posting, there will be loads of new stuff for you all to enjoy. my current subscription list

I thought it might be fun to share what's currently on my A03 subscription list and why. It seems like I have a fondness for fluffy AUs ;)

In no particular orders and only stuff that is unfinished right now (so inherently no oneshots), but at least has a couple of chapters.

River Water : I think this one is pretty popular and well known. It's an omegaverse with alpha Vander and omega Silco where Viktor is Vander and Silco's bio kids and they reconnect when Viktor and Jayce show up in Zaun after being banished. Lot's of angst and big drama (ie Vander didn't now of Silco's existance) and Zaundads reconnecting maybe to some extent as they watch JayVik also becoming close.

Trapped By A Singlar Fate: Young Zaundads getting togehter story, a very cool approach to Felicia (being a much younger Jinx like little sister type character) and impeccable world building.

Grading on a Curve: Eeeeeee, sexy, funny college AU with jock!Vander and standoffish!Silco.

Please Be Rude: Modern AU: I must have a soft spot for nervous wreck Silco.

The Lightkeeper: Siren!Silco targets the mysterious new lighthouse keeper. Siren!Silco x Werewolf!Vander. I really dig the hints at siren background lore and see above for my soft spot for chaotic wreck Silco. It did take me a couple of chapters to really get into it, but once things heat up between Silco and Vander, I'm definitley there.

"Inofficial Subscription List":

this isn't actually on my subscription list, but I have an eye out for them. Some of them are quite new, so I'm still not sure whether they'll be my thing.

This Devotion May Contain Side Effects: yeah, yeah, it's the comments/praise here on tumblr that convinced me to check it out. I like to pretend that fics that focus on dad-ly stuff (in this case Silco and Vander, particularly Silco, taking in and raising orphan Viktor) can't get me, but this one really is as good, though hints of Vander's dark side vis a vis Silco are starting to show up. But it's generally very good and good depiction of the darkness Zaunites have to put up with.

Pinned Under Glass: There seems to be a good season for Silco torture. AU where Silco got captured by an evil enforcer and slowly over years got turned into his pet bride. Vander stumbles across him and is shocked when Silco pretends not to recongnize him. The tags forsee dark stuff but the setup intrigued me.

Falling Downwards Into The Light: Between Lightkeeper, Pinned Under Glass, things like Hound Goes Feral I think I might an unhealthy fondness for captured Silco. Here Vander is the capturer (when an injured Silco drags himself towards the Last Drop after some... business with a chem baron). Vander is quite dark, Silco is very crafty. (it reminded me quite a lot of a similar story by Rimeko) I don't know whether it will end up being too dark for my taste, but so far I'm still reading.

Full House: This author has written some banger Vander/Jayce daddykink. I didn't feel their solo Vander/Silco prequel quite as much, but I have my eye on this. Silco and Vander reunite and imo their chemistry is so thick to me as world weary older men reuniting, even though they are just having a conversation (I might also have a secret fondness for the trope of Vander instantly dumping Jayce the second Silco shows up). I hope I will ike the foursome with JayVik that the tags promise. And I just love the mental image of how Silco has spent his time away as a letter column/agony aunt/sex advice columnist so much.

I wish somebody would write this as a full fledged fic, I feel Silco's agony aunt response letters would be hilarious.

[note that I'm personally super bad at reading things if I missed the beginning and it feels like it already has too many chapters by the time I get into it, there's highly rated, regularly updating wips that I'm scaredy cat about getting into even though it's on my todo list]

You know the fire breathing MC ask got me thinking. What are the preventive measures that the orphanage use in order to ensure that children will not accidentally harm or kill each other? You see the dragon MC may accidentally breath fire to the twins or they are probably physically stronger than them that they may accidentally cause a serious injury if they punched them.

I think I read somewhere that only MC and the twins are the children in the facility but that will not be true in the future. They may even add children like MC with some unique blood roots. Point is, the number of superhuman kids will increase in the future and the likelihood that this type of accident will be high as well.

I considered that the existence of Protectors to guard these children are the preventive measures themselves but considering that despite being superhuman themselves, they are still human. If a dragon MC suddenly punches a kid out of nowhere, was Lexia fast enough to stop them? In the end, the presence of superhuman adults are not the most efficient solution since they are not omnipresent, so do the adults in the orphanage use some special magic or tools that suppresses these powers?

I think there are a few things to address :D I will say, this is a work in progress, and explain why in more detail in point 2). And as always since this is WIP, I reserve the right to any changes if I change my mind :D

1). What we refer to "dragon MC" is not an actual dragon, it is someone with dragon heritage. Same with all the heritages. Despite this they are part human (maybe even mostly human) as it were. Or at least, let's say it that a dragon MC is a not a dragon, or a kitsune MC is not a kitsune.

We need to assume that all children, regardless of heritage, develop roughly at the same rate, or we get into real trouble with timelines etc. I have said this before here. That post also has a ton of links to other heritage posts.

Therefore, I would also say that as children, physical attributes (strength, agility etc.) are relatively comparable for all such children at a young age. I.e. there is no chance of some kid accidentally sneezing and erasing someone from existence. At least outside of extreme cases...

Now making up new lore on the spot, will need to consider later:

I would imagine the differences in physical attributes would manifest more during puberty... Will need to consider the consequences of that a bit more, but it sounds plausible does it not? Because giving hormonal teenagers superpowers is what we do in modern literature, right? Yeah... need to think more about this.

Another option would be that the physical differences manifest according to the life-span of the non-human heritage: i.e. for dragon MC, the strength would start coming as they get older and older.

These are just some thoughts I currently have :D

2) Inborn magical abilities, like any other magical abilities in Wocdes, need practice or extraordinary circumstances for almost any being. The snippets, while fun, are all non-canon. I write what is requested (or closeish... I try, ok) but it should be remembered that unless incorporated into the game, non-canon they remain.

The snippets, for what I believe to be obvious reasons (i.e. cuteness and fun), have made the heritage features become much easier to use, and perhaps bled into other characteristics of the various MC's. Stuff like a kitsune MC accidentally turning into a fox will probably not happen anytime soon in canon.

However, there is a big caviat to all this. If you have been following since the release of C2, originally there was only the option for ONE heritage feature :D But by popular demand, I revised the system, and allowed for more than one. In doing so, I made the MC's much more inherently magical than I originally planned -> We now have this issue of more inherently magical characters than I originally planned for :D

Not a bad problem to have and I will admit, I have started adding some elements of the characterization of things like "strong cat-beastkin heritage -> Supernatural sense of smell (well supernatural compared to humans, normal for cats) into canon as well. A lot of the snippets do things like this (the rabbit beatkin and jumping, dragons and hoarding, cat beastkin and sleeping in boxes).

Because it makes sense! However, for the more magical ones like breathing fire, it does not just happen accidentally. I think I have said in several posts, it could happen under great duress or as a result of practice. The chances of it happening accidentally during normal interactions would be very small. I won't say impossible, we are talking about children so maybe really bad arguments? But considering the nature of the orphanage, I would expect adults to intervene in such situations.

Still, the fact that the kids can now be much more inherently magical also makes things like considering the security measures at the orphanage become into focus, and it is essentially a problem I created by changing the heritage feature system. Not that I mind the problem, I just want people to understand that I am horrible at planning ahead :D I think I have said that before as well.

3) The Silver Protectors are the main security measure for any trouble, and yes Lexia specifically would be fast enough to stop a punch, I think. If she were present at least. But that is her, not necessarily applicable to every Silver Protector and as you have said, they are still just people. Super capable people, but still people.

We have also created the dispelling amulets for staff to take care of any magical incidents. That I will be making canon, but this I imagine to be more used during actual magic practice :D Or some other form of dispelling magic. That is the fist step to remedy the more magically gifted children than was originally planned.

As said in point 2) said, the magical talents, even inborn ones, require practice to be employed well. Luckily, this orphanage is one such place to provide education in such a field (organized education in Wocdes not a thing yet).

Then there are perhaps more considerations to be done, perhaps about some kind of "magic suppression" area, or field for the orphanage that could be employed if needed, but I will need to consider if I want to introduce such a thing :D And what would that entail.

for my au umm it's basically like a """"rewritten"""" version of the original show. i don't have a name for this au. i'm really bad with coming up with names for things so i just called it "The Pucca Au" 😭 i guess nothing specifically stands out in my own little universe for me to name it after but it's fine.

anyways, the premise basically well...again just the show as a whole but rewritten. It's still a slice-of-life style of a series but with story focused elements here and there with Pucca and Garu being the main lead of course. Throughout the series we follow along with them as these kids live their lives and go on wacky yet dangerous adventures together. Instead of pucca chasing garu around all the time they have a developing relationship (that's pretty much the main focus of the series. like c'mon guys what's a pucca au without PUCCAGARU, BABY!) and they as well as other characters have more depth to them and all that stuff. funny love and love recipe don't focus too much on character lore so it's like a prominent thing in my au!

In this case my au has a bit of a serious(??) spin on it than the original. but not to the point where it's overly serious or anything. i still want it to be humorous and whatnot. it's more of one of those series that are silly in nature but has more darker elements here and there. like it does get a little mature...and by that i just mean it does get violent in some areas..like if garu and pucca are battling their opponents and stuff, character trauma, all that good stuff. OH YES and for the universe as a whole, it focuses more on the more magical aspects of the world that pucca and garu live in. a lot of usual things going on in it, etc. since i feel like the og pucca series doesn't focus on that too much (this ain't me complaining about that btw LMAO again this is just my own take on the series. i simply adore everything about the franchise itself. if i didn't i don't think i would actually call myself a pucca fan 😭😭😭😭😭)

anyways, this universe is pretty...big i'd say. a lot of different misadventures go on in it. I did this thing where i combined the jetix toon and love recipe. like characters from both shows are in the same universe and all that! as well as...idk certain structures in the environment...yada yada. ok i need to move on from this.

but other ocs i have are like creatures and stuff. i want there to be a lot of strange creatures garu, pucca and the others encounter from time to time. a few examples are these! (i wanna make more but....um...I'll just wait for when my brain thinks up anymore ideas! smiles!). i don't have names for the 3 on top yet but the lion dude's name is Rionel. and uhhhh yeah they look out of place as heck on purpose i guess. The point is that they contrast with the softness and innocence of the designs of the pucca characters. I LIKE MAKING WEIRD CREATURES.

kay, 'nough of that. I'll talk about the future au a little bit. I'm not very confident with talking about it in its entirety cuz 1. this blog is already long enough and dos it's still KINDA a wip. i've just been doing a lot of rewritting for it here and there <:) AND IT'S A LITTLE (very) EMBARRASSING. anyways (goodness gracious i say that a lot) The future au....well focuses on the future of the characters. it's connected to the main au but it's a separate series that's more episodic than slice of life. It's been like 6 years since the events of the main au where garu and pucca were kids and it's a BIT more serious toned. This is because it's to pretty much match the fact that Pucca and Garu are growing up and well...hey, life isn't all that easy when you're growing up. ofc, it's still wacky and cartoony all around. i live for that kinda concept, man

But besides that, their universe is corrupting. and well? they gotta do SOMETHING about it. This story also very much focuses on Garu and Pucca's relationship. things aren't the same when they were younger so...a lot of good and bad things happen. the entire au is basically like....a more realistic take on their relationship i suppose.

Do you have a general idea with plot twits and such figured out? like general guidelines and then go crazy and write these amazing fics or you just go with the flow?

How do you establish world building? Like, all the fics I've read from you (which are more than great) got lots of info in the world building though strangely enough (in a good way) I wasn't lost on it? Like Cyanide Narwhal has crazy lore to it with lots of characters and stuff going on but as you read you get what happens even though hundreds of stuff happen at once. HOW DO YOU DO IT :0

How do you write so smooth also? Like going from one scene to another makes total sense without there being a cut? (idk if i make any sense sorry ^^').

Finally, how do you explain feelings so well? Well not explaining directly but making us FEEL *looking at cyanide narwhal and i think you're so good (and i'm nothing like you)*. I think that the description of them interacting helps w it (like the way Zhongli looks at Ajax (i am melting please thats so cute-) but even the interaction between Ajax and the kids (big brother behavior)

i do always have a general idea on how the story is going to go, like what plotbeats i want to hit and what i want to happen. but since it's not a good idea to marry to one path, the details for how things happen or how we get from point a to point b specifically i usually come up with on-the-go, and i do leave room for modifications. like i have a million fic ideas and scenes i want to write but i never actually write any if i cannot picture two things: 1, what the point of it is (the main climax, the main mystery, etc), and 2, how it ends. (the reason why most wips don't make it past a couple chapters is bc i struggle to picture the ending accurately, or how to get there)

i genuinely have no idea how to explain the world building, i'm sorry lmao. if i really had to think about it, no joke, i think i'd say this was stardew valley's fault. yes you read that correctly. more specifically, the earmuffs item. now- it might not be evident as it is rn w the way i write, since it's been a while since i've started doing my worldbuilding like this and obviously it's evolved and gotten more complex w time, but- for those unaware, stardew isn't a game you play for the worldbuilding per se. for the deep world lore. especially pre-ginger island update (1.6?). but there IS worldbuilding, it's just you don't really see it, it's not the point of the game. you're there to grow crops tend to animals suffer in the mines and get a partner. that's it. but you know there's more outside the town and the valley. you know the biggest city nearby is called zuzu, you know what the sea is called, you know there is a war going on in the background, you know there is an empire involved, you know lewis might be the mayor of the town but he's still under the governor of the region. you know there's witches and spirits and elemental beings and aliens n shit. the fucking earmuffs were sort of like my epiphany years back bc their description says they're lined w artisanal velvet from castle village. what the fuck is castle village?? were you ever going to tell me about it outside of those fucking earmuffs? does it even matter? no. it doesn't matter. but just because it doesn't matter doesn't mean the earmuffs stop being an artisanal item from castle village. just because it doesn't matter what the sea is called doesn't stop it from being the gem sea specifically. the fact that you only care, gameplay-wise, about your farm and pelican town- it doesn't stop your country from being at war, from being called the ferngill republic. the world of the game exists outside of what matters to you for the plot. and so even if you're never going to find out some of these things if you don't look, they're going to be there anyway.

i don't know if that makes any sense. it probably doesn't LMAO a probably better way to explain it is like- write stuff the same way you hear our own world being talked about irl. does it matter for the 'plot' of your day if your mother says she's going to one specific supermarket? no. does she still call it by name? most likely. that's just how it works. you know it exists because this is the world you live in, regardless as to how much it matters to the actual 'plot'. it's not there exclusively to serve the purpose of aiding the plot, but because it's a part of your world and therefore must be connected to the world beyond you. the world will only read like it's lived in if the characters speak about it like they actually live in it.

i'm not actually sure that answers the question now that i think about it. it's just- i trully don't know how to answer it. i don't know what i'm doing that makes it interesting and not a complete mess to read even if it IS a complete mess. the only explanation i can think of is that: that i write the characters interacting with their world as though they actually live there. the plot is just something that happens to an already existing, already established world.

also i think you might be merging lore and worldbuilding with plot. yes, the worldbuilding and lore in my fics are absurd, but that alone i don't think would be hard to keep up with. it's the plot also being absurd what makes it seem like there's a lot going on at once (there is, just- in two different fronts). like there's not a million things happening at once in the worldbuilding - there's a million things happening at once in the plot. you're finding out a lot of stuff about the world at the same time, is the thing. anyway,

scene transition without the cuts being smooth i also am not sure how to explain. that's probably on me for not following scene structures properly tbh. so uh- no clue here chief, i'm sorry. i don't even have a guess as with the worldbuilding.

with the writing feelings i do have somewhat of a guess- it genuinely might be some undiagnosed brain fuckery i have. kinda like how the inside joke of asexuals being shockingly good at writing sex scenes goes. if you have a different-than-intended perspective on the stuff, it would probably lead to a different approach to writing it. but other than that i also am not sure

I realized I should probably start making a canon timeline for my versions of these characters since I don’t plan to follow Epic canon much. So I’ll start off with the easiest for me.

CHIBI LORE DUMP (wip)

My Odysseus is still very much lost at sea and alone (minus the gods). His plan in Troy doesn’t work out as well as hoped and he does lose a good chunk of men there. Following Troy, everything remains the same except for Polyphemus’s island (I know I’ve placed concept designs for Poly here, but I don’t know if those will stay canon to this so feel free to ignore them). Polyphemus stays true to his word and devours the remaining of Ody’s crew first. Ody barely manages to escape before his doom, and does so without blinding the cyclops in this timeline. Though he is consumed by guilt for not being able to save his friends as well. He often feels he’s a coward for how things played out and that he failed his men. He has no idea how to make it home and doesn’t even know if he deserves it at this point. So he sails alone on a raft made from his old ship, which he couldn’t sail alone due to its size.

Athena obviously dips out during the cyclops saga because “wtf Ody you let everyone die that quick?? Think Ody!” Also because I don’t have a design for her lol

Poseidon isn’t vengeful due to Ody never harming his son. That doesn’t mean he’s all sunshine and rainbows with him though. Poseidon sees the wooden horse Odysseus used in Troy as a “false offering” to him and is low key insulted. And my Poseidon is petty enough to use this as a reason to push Ody’s raft around with some strong waves (but not enough to want to kill him like in the og source).

Zeus is the main one interested in Ody’s journey since he had interacted with him before. He’s the one that gets his brothers interested in the mortal and his tale.

Hades is overwhelmed by the 600 souls that now need to be processed, but the sudden rush does peek his curiosity. This leads him to asking Zeus about it who directs him to Odysseus.

So far the big three just like to hang out with Odysseus from time to time. Keep the poor man some company while he sails aimlessly and occasionally stops on islands. They’re far too invested to see how he reacts to the situation he’s in, so they don’t lend aid in directing him. Even if they did, Odysseus is still far too conflicted about whether he’d be welcomed back home or not. Man is drowning in shame.

As for the mini/chibi stuff I post sometimes, I made a comment to @gemfoxplayz on discord about the gods changing their sizes to cheer Ody up sometimes. It allows Ody to feel like he can protect and care for something again, and makes up for some of the lost years with his son. And Poseidon and Zeus simply adore attention. Hades is more on the fence about attention but knows it benefits Ody.

(And let’s be honest, it helps the gods too since they were never held much as children because of Kronos. Except for Zeus. He’s just greedy)

But the standard version of my gods are taller than Ody (who I still hc as 5’5”)

wanna know some puckpocketed deep lore? i've never been one to make OCs. i was just not a very creative kid tbh. spent all my time drawing sailor moon instead. i still go back to her sometimes because she is one of my favourite shapes in the WORLD!!

in my 20s i took up playing d&d because of the. uh. plague. <3 and got pretty close to having OCs!! those count right? anyway. here is my tavern-wench-turned-wizard!!! i think i painted this 2 years ago? <- put dates on your works guys it saves lives. her name is Mel (short for Melins (pronounced like melons. on account of her knockers. can you tell i never grew out of my 12 yr old booby/cock joke era?) i revisited Mel recently and have started painting her in earnest again!! :3

I briefly dated someone who was very into streetwear and fashion, and I fell down a techwear/gorpcore/cyberpunk rabbit hole for a couple days out of curiosity. i remember literally zero salient info on any of it except the broad strokes of silhouetting and Vibes. what i emerged with, however, was a ?? sorta OC?? im not sure what to call them. they dont rly have a name or gender. Here are my most recent explorations (i have been doing SOOOO much art. <3) which include:

unfinished character sheet + chibi art. I played with their jacket (much more structured/square/tailored thing) and added a lotta random buckles and belts. i took textiles class years ago and have a little experience in garment construction. and i know for a fact this thing does not make any sense. it hurts me to look at a little bit LMAO so i've paused it while i go draft patterns (badly. i was never good at drafting. i think i may have to break out my scrap fabric stash and hand sew a real life mock-up. HELP!)

here is me having fun with them and imagining them as some kind of cyber-fisherman. the best part of every game is the fishing mini-game to me. i love fishing mini-games so much. I made their hair really big because i wanted them to have big unwieldy hair and the vibes told me i should add more movement to the piece aside from the fishing line. I messed with their jacket AGAIN because i can't stop thinking about what kinda jacket they'd wear. gorp-core ? idk. it sure is something!

Cracked!Legacyverse: The very first one, which is essentially an AU with @k1ngtok's OC Jamie + things with Olivia/Harumi not being quite as extreme as they are in the main story. Has a BUNCH of sidestories by myself, King, and others I can direct you to if you're interested in a slightly fluffier take on some S2/S3 events!

Royal!Legacy AU: The 'main' au with actual story to go along with it is what it says on the tin: royalty au! There's a lot of bigger worldbuild-y aspects to it with all the supporting characters to parallel the main story, but otherwise it's just a big fancy love story between Jesse and Cole for people who (like me) want to see them with a relationship without waiting for my agonizing main story slowburn jljhgfdghf

Inverse!AU/LegacyInverse: A totally off-the-cuff Role Reversal!AU where Wu was the one bit/turned evil and eventually "kidnaps" the Core Four for his eventual revenge, Lloyd does not initially have the Green Element thus runs the risk of becoming the Golden Master sooner/easier via only having his Essence, and Garmadon becomes Sensei to the Inheritors of the Outlier Elements/ Elements of Destruction to try and stop save Lloyd—which also inadvertently means Harumi ends up as the legendary Magenta Ninja. Chaos ensues. I still have asks to answer on this hgfdgfd

Mer!AU: Started with me spitballing some vibes I had at the time, turned into a WIP (with art!) that I still have yet to finish, but I keep on chipping away at (I WILL finish it. One Day). It's another Aftershock story though (I have one braincell)

Shark!Nya AU: Started as one of many What If asks from long ago that branched into its own thing -> but it's an AU where Nya as the Samurai joins the Shark Army with Olivia during Book 2 instead of trying to be a third party, and the subsequent falling out that would result all the way into S3. Also doubles as an AU where Plasmashipping (Jay/Kai) ends up canon, but that's neither here or there

Quiet!Jesse: An AU where Jesse goes to help Harumi right away at the end of Book 2 instead of prioritizing Miranda, leading to the death of his sister instead and him being the one injured in the elevator + him being the one to blame Lloyd for it and concocting revenge. (He also dies at the end, rip)

Into the Ninjaverse: Kind of a 'for fun' AU where selves from the Show, the Movie, and Legacyverse (potentially with other variants as well) meet each other and interact with shenanigans. Also doubles as an AU where Stormlightshipping (Jay/Sunni) winds up canon

Volleyball!Harumi: Not actually an 'AU' as I do plan to do something with the concept, but literally everything is the same except Harumi actually joins a non-evil volleyball team lmao. This also kind of goes hand-in-hand with another concept of Harumi writing Ninja/Shark Army fanfiction lmao

DR!Jesse/Dragons Rising-related Stuff: Not actuallyyyyyyy an AU, but it's technically notttttt canon to the mainverse eitherrr, so. Basically this encompasses how certain aspects of Legacyverse would (THEORHETICALLY) work within DR, alongside a (THEORHETICAL) story following how Jesse would deal with all these newfound changes to his life, on top of raising his kid as a single parent. Be mindful if you dive into that tag tho; there do be some spoilers (but those are tagged as well)!!

Next-Gen Jamboree + Alter!Verse: Essentially an AU of the prior AU when everyone's got (at least one) kid prior to The Merge, and the angst that comes with that falling out...except for Lloyd, who only gets a kid thanks to alternate universe shenanigans that rain upon him during his five years alone Post-Merge. It's different from simply "DR!Jesse", as there Jesse's kid is the only one present for DR!events (and thus that's a more """""canon""""" take on things), so anything with the other children is just for fun/speculation and to clear out the brain rot (though I am surprised it got as much traction as it did :d)

Pokemon!AU / DestinyGreen and LegacyGold: exactly what it says on the tin hgfdsfds. Aspiring Dragon Tamer Lloyd goes on a quest to reunite with his five old friends who have conquered the Pokemon League in their time away—and stop his father from dismantling and overtaking the League as a whole

so everything i know abt dc (very little) has come from my mutuals' posts (mostly yours) and i wanted to say congrats on your special guy's return!!! but also i had a few questions! kid eternity's previous iterations were all boys right? is this the debut of a new one or has she been around a while? at first i thought they may have made her trans but then i realized how unlikely that was for a long-standing character, even a minor one. what's her backstory? does her canon coincide with any previous versions? i'm probably never gonna read any of the comics myself but i think she seems really cool and i really like hearing about comic character lore, so if you're up for an infodump i'd love to hear it :D

So you are correct, all the previous Kid Eternity incarnations have been guys! And yes, there have been a couple versions of him across the years (four or five, depending on who you ask/how we're drawing lines). This is the opener image I made for my "all Kid Eternity appearances" spreadsheet (still a WIP) that I made, and I feel like that helps give a quick reference for him. (It's not full opacity, but unfortunately I no longer have the original file and can't change that.)

So, this new Kid Eternity seems to be an entirely new iteration of the character. One, she's got a new costume (though it's riffing heavily on the 90s/early 2000s version of the character), and two, everyone is pretty sure she's a girl, which is insanely exciting for me specifically. This JSA issue, which came out today, is her first appearance ever, and that page I've posted like twice now is her only appearance in the actual issue, since it happens right at the end. As such, we have no idea what her deal is, or how she lines up with Kid's past appearances. However, that means it's time to speculate wildly!

A quick note about the trans thing- you're right that making any longstanding character trans would be kinda crazy for DC, even a character like Kid who's had less than 100 appearances under DC's ownership, but if it was going to happen to anyone, I could see it happening here. One, Kid is wildly minor. Like I said, less than 100 appearances while under DC's copyright, and when you add in the comics from when he was owned by Quality Comics, he still doesn't cross the 200 appearances line. So while making a character that's existed since the 1940s trans would be kinda crazy, if you're gonna pick any character to do it to, you may as well pick one that everyone forgot existed back in the 90s.

Furthermore, Kid is a character who's played a lot with concepts of gender and sexuality. You'll notice that the two pictures in the middle of the above image feature Kid with long hair (and in the costume closest to the kid we saw in the new JSA), for one, but the second image is a cover from Kid's third solo, which was published under the Vertigo imprint. Vertigo was an imprint that DC started back in the 90s that focused on publishing adult content that wasn't necessarily suitable for DC's primary audience. This means stuff like sex, nudity, drug use, etc. but it also means a lot of queer characters and story lines were published under this imprint. Just to name a few, John Constantine/Hellblazer, the Doom Patrol, and Sandman are pretty famously queer characters/groups, and they were some of Vertigo's big names back in the 90s.

Kid is never explicitly trans in his Vertigo run, and no actual trans characters ever appear to my memory, but they do play with his gender just a bit (particularly, in my opinion, in issue 9, "Hysteria Knows No Gender", but it's not much, just a fun possible read). The comic also deals very heavily with homophobia and hate crimes in some of the last few issues, and don't shy away from the idea of queerness at all. (Genuinely, issues 10-12 of this comic are harrowing reads. Issue 10 deals with violence against women while issues 11 and 12 deal with homophobia and my god are they heavy.)

Also a point that has less to do with Kid and more with the comic itself, but still something worth bringin up- this is happening in JSA (2024), and the JSA has made a couple longstanding and/or much more important characters (in the grand scheme of things) queer in the past! Notably, Todd Rice (obsidian) (first appearance 1983) was revealed to be gay in 2006 and Alan Scott (the first green lantern) (first appearance 1940) was revealed to be gay within like, the last 5 years. Still no trans retcons to my knowledge (though I'm not super up to date on the JSA, so if I may be missing some important stuff), but that's still pretty notable in my opinion.

ALL OF THIS IS TO SAY that while Kid has never been trans before, this Kid being trans genuinely doesn't feel out of the question to me. I'm not gonna get my hopes up or anything, but hey, wouldn't it be cool???

Anyways, the other questions you asked! Like I said, we ultimately know nothing about this version of Kid Eternity right now, except what she looks like, and that she's in Hell (par for the course for Kid, to be quite honest.) Judging from which comic she features in and what her costume looks like, however, I think I can solidly say that the backstory they'll be drawing on is the 90s era backstory, so I'll give a quick rundown of that!

Kid's initial backstory, from the 1940s, boils down to this: Kid was a child on a sailing ship that ran afoul of a Nazi sub during WW2. Kid and the rest of the crew, including his grandfather, died and went to a place called "Eternity" (legally distinct Heaven). Upon their arrival, however, it was found that Kid had arrived about 60 years before his time. In return for the mistake, he is sent back to earth with new powers and a spiritual guardian from Eternity, Mr. Keeper. These new powers allow him to shout the word "Eternity" and call on any historical, mythological, or fictional characters and summon their ghosts to help him solve problems. The fictional characters fall by the wayside after a certain point because of copy right concerns, I imagine, but I have to bring it up because it's always comical. Shout out to the time he summoned Jean Valjean to talk a thief out of stealing a loaf of bread and when that didn't work he summoned Javert and then Javert and Valjean beat each other up until he sent them back.

The 90s backstory, which is introduced by Grant Morrison in a horror mini series, builds on this backstory with a few retcons. Most notably, Kid never actually went to "Eternity" or any sort of heaven. Instead, he went to hell, where he was picked up by a staple of the DC magical mythos called the Lords of Chaos (which are exactly as bad as they sound), specifically by the one who paraded himself as Mr. Keeper. He was lied to about what happened to him when he died, about what was happening to him upon his arrival in Hell, and was strung along to do the Lords of Chaos' bidding for decades before he was able to free himself in a really complicated series of retcons and dumb writing choices across about 20 comics written and released over about two decades so we won't get into the weeds of that part.

The Lords of Chaos are opposed by a group called the Lords of Order (who could've guessed!) who are very important to the Justice Society, primarily to Dr. Fate, a key member, because Dr. Fate is a Lord of Order possessing/manifesting through a human person (and a helmet). Not only that, but this new Kid has appeared in JSA volume 2. The first JSA came out in 1999, and y'know who appears (and dies but that's less important) in the first issue of that comic: 90s Kid Eternity! It's a part of this whole plot regarding agents of the Lords of Chaos and Order, and since the current plot of this comic has a lot to do with Dr. Fate, I imagine that Kid is being pulled from that original JSA comic to be introduced as a potential foil to the current Dr. Fate (a young man who seems to be close in age to this version of Kid) and/or as another wrinkle in the Everything that's going on.

ALL OF THIS TO SAY! We really don't know much yet, but Kid Eternity is literally one of my nichest favorite characters of all time, and I am beyond ecstatic to see them running around again (fun fact, post New 52 reboot in 2011, Kid has had a whole thirteen appearances, and 6 of those appearances weren't even in the mainline universe. It was dire out here!)

So I came back to thinking about Freemakers, but I also kinda came back to watching some Miraculous episodes. I got some ideas and I present to you... The Freemaker Adventures: Miraculous AU.

Important notes:

- this AU doesn't have any romantic aspects FOR OBVIOUS REASON, this is entirely different story based on the one from Freemakers. We're ignoring the story from Miraculous Ladybug and Chat Noir,

- the AU is placed in Miraculous world, so it's a modern world instead of star wars one,

- the story is a wip and is mostly created for fun, I'm not even sure if I'm ever going to finish it, because I'm just messing around here with creating designs and stuff.

Honestly the lore for it is like... really long and I'm not sure if I want to write it with all details here, because tumblr will crash, but maybe I'll try to shorten it up lol

The Freemakers have a simple workshop in the city (some kind of capital, maybe it's still Paris, although my friend told me it should be a Warsaw lol). Rowan is a normal kid, but at some point he gets the Cat Miraculous from injuried man who later dies in the hospital. Akumas start appearing in the capital and Rowan is supposed to fight them. But then the Ladybug Miraculous holder appears and helps him out. The mysterious lady calls herself Master of Miraculous and says that she came to capital to retrieve all the Miraculous from thieves who have the box with the other jewels and are responsible for sending out Akumas. Rowan agrees to help her, because she seems trustworthy and teaches him about Miraculous, but little does he know that the lady's real name is Naare and she's actually using him to help her get all the other Miraculous so she could have a wish and become powerful (in this AU, you need all the Miraculous for that). He's not revealing his identity to her though, which kinda frustrates her.

They save a city countless of times. Rowan really likes his new role as a superhero and he doesn't have any problems with sneaking out from the workshop or school, even if his siblings scold him all the time.

But at one point Rowan figures out that Naare is actually evil and somehow they swap their Miraculous without revealing who they are. There's also a big fight including Rowan, Naare and Butterfly and Peacock's holders (Palpatine and Vader). The mysterious figures are using the other Miraculous too and Rowan actually managed to steal two of them from them and escape home.

Rowan is devastated after loosing Cat's Miraculous. He doesn't know how he's supposed to be the holder of Power of Creation, because he never saw himself as someone who can create instead of destroy.

He now also has two other Miraculous he needs to protect: Snake and Dog (he doesn't use them, he already has one jewel to worry about). His new kwami Tikki believes in him, but he really misses Plagg and gets really depressed about his new role. At one point, just like Marinette in original show, he finally breaks down and tells Kordi and Zander his secret identity and basically the whole thing. They're shocked. Kordi doesn't like the fact that Rowan was risking himself all this time, but Zander tells her that he saved their city countless of times and that he needs support now. Rowan then tells them about two other Miraculous and his siblings actually help him out, becoming superheroes too. Kordi gets the snake Miraculous and Zander gets the Dog Miraculous. Rowan then gets the hang of Ladybug Miraculous.

The story would probably end with them defeating Naare, Palpatine and Vader and taking all their Miraculous away. I kinda wonder if it would be better if they ran away from the capital like they did in Freemaker Adventures or if they should defeat the villains for good and just stay there, living their normal lives, just taking care of those small god-like creatures. Personally I think the second version is better. Running away never worked in Miraculous universe anyway.

Superhero names are work in progress, but for now it's:

- Ladybug/Master of Miraculous (Naare with Ladybug Miraculous, lying about her secret identity),

- Black Cat (Rowan with Cat Miraculous),

- Dark Panther (Naare with Cat Miraculous),

- Teenbug (Rowan with Ladybug Miraculous)- Personally I call him Biedronek tho (it's kinda like Bugboy in Polish and I think it sounds better).
