hey so i actually have a question regarding acxas childhood like what are your headcanons on it? i always got the feeling that she grew up with her non galra parent/species and was sort of treated as an outsider for being half galra (i mean naturally considering that they most likely invaded their planet but yeah of course it was a terrible experience that definitely contributed/was the main factor of acxas inner turmoil) and it would make sense as to why she would seek out lotor and his vision of the empire for acceptance there if she cant find it here(?) this is just my thoughts im curious abt what u think

In canon, we get very little of Acxa's backstory, and it's all localized to personal anecdotes by Acxa herself in the Grudge. She tells Veronica she's "born and bred in war" which is both very specific and also extraordinarily vague.

For one, we know what happens in war. I don't think Acxa was born from a loving relationship that's for sure. "Bred in" is more specific - she didn't grow up learning about war, she was in the thick of it. This is why I don't buy headcanons that put her in military school or that she was raised by her galran family. She mentions survival - which yeah in a particularly militaristic society such as the galra, death is probably very easy to come by but again it goes back to war - she's not in training for war she was in the war. This is why I suspect she grew up in a warzone. Specifically, one in immense chaos and disarray. I do think cause of her heritage - being half galra - it denied her any form of community connections that could have existed amongst her colonized people.

And that's another clue btw. Acxa identifies as galra. This is a repeated motif throughout the series. When Lotor rages about wiping out all the galra, she immediately sees that as a signal to go, cause in her mind that includes her. In contrast to Lotor, who while strongly identifying more with his Altean side, would posture himself sometimes as Galran. Acxa never is shown identifying with her non-Galran side. In the conversation with Veronica, she refers to the Galra as "her people" never one-half or anything like that.

Instead, what we get in the Grudge, is Acxa being discriminated for being Galran, not her other race. It's an interesting choice on the writers' part. That's what gets her upset. I don't think it's coincidental that in the next scene with her and Veronica, we learn of Acxa's backstory and her experience. I'd say it's deliberate. And ff that is her experience, if she grew up receiving those types of insults, well it makes sense that she takes it to heart so quickly.

Finally, we should talk about how she mentions how she "became worse than her enemies" to survive. Presumably her enemies in a warzone would be the Galra - imperialists, they also discriminate against her (Throk; the Galran obsession with racial purity). Alternatively, her enemies would be the non-galrans who discriminated against her, but I think she refers to the Galra here specifically cause she was a general she directed armies, she is complicit in the death of soldiers, of conquering nations. That is worse than what many of the Galran footsoldiers did, even if she actively avoids killing anyone directly if possible.

There is also Acxa in her discussion with Zethrid later in the episode, mentions her hate and rage and how that is fueled by how the Galra rejected her.

This, I think supports the idea that her enemies were the Galra in this case, that is, the Galra that wouldn't take her in. If she is Galra (which is something I imagine she grew up being told, told by the family she was born to through conquest), she was never apart of her non-galran people to begin with. So where she had to fight, whom she had to fight, to get a place in society is within the Galra - cause she had no chance in hell happening in her non-galran people. With that, "worse than her enemies" carries a distinct flavor of "okay so if I'm Galra, I'm going to be worse than them." Cause otherwise, she'll die. Cause she's not one of them. She'll never be one of them. So she'll be the worst of the Galra if means being at a place for change within them to accept people like her that wouldn't fit in in other places.*

And I agree anon, that Acxa sought out Lotor for acceptance in a way. Lotor was the perfect paragon of what she believed - Half-galra like her, but also distinctly Galran. It's obvious she has the bare minimum of a moral code - she draws the line at genocide (she's very nervous btw, when Lotor admits to killing Alteans, and cuts ties when he mentions doing the same or worse to the Galra)

But she didn't know about that originally.

So yeah that's a lot of buildup to say - I agree a lot with what you say anon. I do think she grew up in an environment that rejected her wholeheartedly - that would make sense, if it was her non-Galran side that under trauma, fully rejects children born from that occupation. So she identifies with the people who would "take her in" or she believes that could be changed - maybe her non-Galran side cannot be sway otherwise cause of the occupation, but the Galran can be changed. I wouldn't be surprised if thinking the Galra could be changed is a rationalization on her part even - maybe she argued with her non-galran parent, who insisted they cannot change, cause they are monsters. That Acxa herself is a monster. Which is exactly her insecurity in the Grudge. That kind of thinking can be fed only by growing up around her non-Galran heritage who were occupied by the Galra. If she can change the Galra, then she isn't a monster too, proving those people wrong.

So yes, I do agree a lot with what you say here anon, maybe some details off (I do think if she grew up with her non-Galran parent, it might be a short while or with very detached parenting, as she mentions surviving without mentioning her parents. I don't think she knew her Galran parent, which I imagine would be her father if only that a Galran female commander would get an abortion or Acxa'd been raised among the Galra, which wouldn't add up with her insecurities).

*This is so Baru Cormorant flavored. Man Acxa you should've been a protagonist in a Lesbian Space Atrocity novel.

Here's the deal on the Good Omens limbo situation. My optimistic and analytic two cents, if you will.

If we look at this through a capitalistic lens, the chances of the show being cancelled are pretty slim at the moment. Think for a moment about the top three amazon prime originals that you pay/keep the platform for. Can you think of three? I honestly can't, not off the top of my head. I know I'm not really the target audience for streaming services, since I don't watch a lot of new shows, but still. I can name plenty of netflix shows I like/might watch. That's why Netflix can cancel anything and everything so easy. They don't have just one or two fandom cash cows.

Amazon, though, doesn't have a lot. Here's a list of all their original shows. I only even recognize 8 titles. I've only actually watched 2. Plus, Good Omens is currently one of the biggest fandoms in fandom right now, with Aziracrow being the top ship on ao3 for the Jan-Dec 2023 wrap up and again on the Summer 2024 leaderboard, as well as the top ship on tumblr and Good Omens as the top tv show (plus second overall after Artists on Tumblr) for 2023. We're a big deal, and I'd bet money that they're betting money on us. I also lowkey think we're the reason Amazon is spending money on a british miniseries starring Michael Sheen tbh but that's just speculation. The show has also won a slew of awards, the same of which cannot, to my knowledge, be said of many of their other properties.

So let's talk production changes; I think there's a good chance they're doing this for the same reason. Our fandom had unique access to the creator via tumblr, and a majority of the conversation around the allegations of SA against Gaiman were and are taking place in fandom spaces. There have been petitions to fire him from the show and conversations (both productive and otherwise) about the duties of fandom when engaging with content connected to problematic individuals. Meanwhile, Gaiman has effectively dissappeared from the internet. Additionally, the video and threads sharing that Terry Pratchett wrote most of the original book have been making the rounds here and I think on the bird app(?). All that to say, if they're betting on us they want to make us happy and keep their good PR. I don't ever expect a major corporation to make a "good" decision, but they will always make the profitable one.

There is, of course, also the matter of the Pratchett estate and the other major players in the matter: the actors, directors, and creative team. These are forces at play with the power to block or stall productivity and profit for Amazon through copyright and labor power. I can imagine there's conversations happening backstage that we don't know about as well as what we see in headlines.

Ultimately, I think the biggest risk to season 3 is unfortunately going to be Neil Gaiman himself and how he responds to the situation at hand. If he steps back quietly, we're living in our best case scenario and everything moves forward as much according to plan as can be expected with at least this small justice being served. I see a hissy fit on his end as the greatest potential wrench in proceedings, but that would exacerbate the (currently quiet in the mainstream) bad PR for him so I give it low odds.

All that to say. From a pragmatic viewpoint, Amazon's best interest seems to be entirely tied to ours as a fandom, and I anticipate Season 3 being made and most likely being only minorly delayed. Either way. What happens behind the scenes in corporate office buildings between rich white men is entirely out of my and your control. I know how huge anxiety can get when it relates to a special interest or a community that has a huge role in your life, and whatever happens we're in this together as a fandom. It's going to be alright. Take a deep breath and maybe get some water. Whatever happens, we're in this together as a fandom, and at least it won't be the end of the world;)

Direct link for the curious. Short version, a post on Reddit reported that Duolingo laid off a "large percentage" of its staff, replacing them with AI. I hadn't heard about it, but I knew there were reports about Duolingo trimming its offerings and losing a lot of goodwill after revamping itself a year ago; they've been public about their use of GPT-4 AI starting last March, and it was a tentpole of this year's annual convention, so I was aware of that as well.

The Reddit post is by a former Duolingo contractor, who also shares their severance letter, which is terse to say the least. They state that of their four-person team, two people were let go, with the others left to "babysit the AI". They say that they're a translator and that the people who remained were recast as "curators" for AI translation.

But the post is also not otherwise sourced. So here is everyone's periodic reminder that if the only source is Reddit and Reddit isn't citing other sources, you need to dig a little.

All journalistic sources I've seen (that aren't paywalled, like the Bloomberg article most of them cite) are visibly using the Reddit post as their entre, but also state that the percentage of contractors who were let go is about 10%. That's 10% of contract workers, not 10% of all staff, although admittedly I don't know how many people Duolingo employs, contract or otherwise. 10% is a meaningful chunk, but Duolingo has said that the contractors were let go because their projects had wrapped. While company reps state that this all could be related to the use of AI, they've also said that it's not a 1:1 replacement.

Mind you, the company isn't offering much in the way of backing that up, either.

So there are a couple of issues. Some workers probably were let go simply because their work was finished; the Reddit user doesn't seem to be one of those. We are still seeing that at least some of these jobs were replaced by AI, which is undoubtedly a harbinger of things to come. We don't know what impact this will have on the app. We don't know what kind of work the majority of those people were doing. There's a thread in the Reddit post about whether the voices are now "AI voices" but there's no citation to back up the idea either. They definitely aren't doing AI voice generation for the Latin, where one of the voice actors has a nice voice and also a very loud pet bird.

There is a bigger issue of contract work in the digital and translation industries in the first place; a lot of these people should have been full employees and would have had more protection from this if they had been. Translators have also been brutally devastated by machine/AI translation, which is its own issue. But these are separate and much larger problems that are in no way unique to Duolingo.

I don't like taking this stance because I feel like I'm defending both Duolingo and AI, which isn't my goal. My goal is to remind people that if you see a single source offering a vague statement, you should fact-check. 10% is likely a lot of people but it's not "a huge percentage". We have no real numbers on who was fired, just this person on Reddit saying they're a translator and they were let go. Do I believe them? Absolutely, I have no reason not to and the basic gist is backed up by statements from Duolingo. Do I trust this person's intel? Not especially, after the loud axe-grinding noises they made while posting. Do I trust Duolingo, whose goal is to make money and not look bad while doing it? Not especially either, simply from the standpoint of "the bigger the company the more they're likely to screw you".

But the point is we don't have good data, and this is a complicated and nuanced issue involving a lot of different factors. So either you have to let it go on past, or you have to be prepared to dig a little deeper than a person posting to Reddit about getting laid off.

In any case, Duolingo is one of the few activities that brings me joy right now (I know, I'm working on the issue) and is the only language learning structure that has ever actually worked for me, so despite the new intel and despite the fact that I know a lot of people think of Duolingo's revamp the way I think of Tumblr's new dash, I'm going to keep on with it.

(Plus I paid up for a year, so I might as well at least use it until the year runs out and then reassess.)

Because Studio Orange has been driving me insane with how great Vash is as a gunman not just cinematically but realistically! I am NOT getting over this for a while my friends.

All posts mention guns and shooting because otherwise this analysis would not work at all.

NOW LET'S ROLL!

First off, again, I’m going based on what I remembered from shooting air rifles & other research I’ve gained over the years! Second, I’m not an OG Trigun fan, so do take this thread with a grain of salt!

With that, let’s dive into THEE fight scene:

So right off the bat we’re getting Vash’s “smooth criminal” shot! Notice how he’s lining up his body sideways with his pistol vs forward like in the past. That’s exactly how you’re supposed to shoot one handed: feet shoulder width apart and aligned w/ the gun.

Normally you’d want both feet planted on the ground when firing but since Vash HAS to stay on the move to avoid getting hit AND is being a cocky little shit to his brother, he lets himself lean forward to fire and use that kick back to gently guide him into his next step.

Again, you NEVER fight what’s considered natural movement with a gun! You WILL get hurt! If you want to aim properly you NEED to be relaxed and composed. Vash isn’t fighting against the force of his gun, he follows it with the confidence and poise of a dancer on stage.

And speaking of dancing just look at how Vash makes Knives dance over puddles! Vash has impeccable aim yet he deliberately chooses to shoot in areas that could stun or stumble Knives, knowing he could block the shots, and distract him as he goes behind the corner.

Remember how I said lining up sideways is how you shoot properly? Here he’s firing straight forward using the corner as his shield. Had he not been holding a ticking bomb in his hand he would probably rest the gun on his other hand like he normally does on the rock jutting out.

The second he fired his last shot he dips down to reload and LOOK AT THAT!!

He is practicing proper trigger discipline again!!

You do NOT keep your finger on the trigger when loading in order to prevent misfire. That is BASIC SHOOTING SAFETY!!

And he does this throughout the fight!

When he turns away from Knives to make his way to the corner he lets go of the trigger before he turns back around to fire at him!

He can only hold 8 bullets in that gun and he will make each one count!

He can NOT afford to misfire.

Why??

Because that bullet he loaded was going STRAIGHT FOR KNIVES! Vash is NOT messing around! At this angle it looks like he aimed and could’ve hit Knives' NECK which would be super hard to dodge close range. Knives would have to bend backwards like he did here to dodge.

Shout out to everyone at Orange for the incredible work put into Vash and his shooting! There’s so much care into this show I can’t wait to see more!

Bonus: while we’re here, let’s get into Vash’s stellar reloads starting with this one (my absolute favorite) :

Remember how I said Vash was being a cocky little shit to Knives earlier?

Yeah this is it at it’s peak.

Faced forward, standing still til the last second, and very slowly reloading so Knives hears all 8 clicks before flying out the window.

This is just being mean lol XD

It's because we KNOW he can reload fast! The gif below might be faster by half a second but it's still RIDICULOUS compared to the first one:

Hell, he’s put individual bullets in the chamber midair and slammed a container of them in the SAME FLIGHT! MIDAIR!!!

He did NOT have to mess with Knives like that! Dude's flexin' hard.

In any case, I can’t recommend this show enough! The amount of work and detail put into not just Vash’s skills as a marksman but the acting and storytelling - everything is superb!! What an amazing experience!

NaNoWriMo - November is National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo. In the past year, the official NaNoWriMo organization has had some scandals, and most recently has made a startling decision regarding the use of AI. (Spoiler alert - They're all for it, possibly because one of their sponsors this year is an AI company.) Admin Michelle feels really strongly about encouraging every writer to do NaNoWriMo, even without using the official site for tracking or community purposes. We feel that the Pond has the community, so all we need is tracking capabilities and we can do this thing on our own. We are testing out some possible ways to do this, but we would LOVE your feedback! Do you want tools you can use privately for tracking, or would you like to publicly update your word count for the world to see? Would you like to see a roster of Pond writers and their word counts so you can race each other, or would seeing someone writing faster than you discourage you? Do you prefer Google Sheets for tracking, or would a message thread in a Discord channel be better? All opinions and suggestions are welcome! idk why, but that confession about qphil and chayanne just made me so sad and frustrated. that anon clearly has never watched recent chayanne and qphil interactions and missed all of baby chay's and missa's early relationship. I get that there may be a language barrier, but ughh, it frustates me even more how missa was the one to give chay his first sword (which everyone just seems to forget). If I could make an analysis of how missa's actions and parenting will always influence chay's emotions and personality, I so would, but I would need to rewatch so many vods. Anyways, I love my son, and I hope he keeps slaying.

honestly stay real anon. while I agree that Phil's parenting ain't perfect, chayanne still takes a lot from missa even when missa is so absent (there was a thread about this on bird app on how chayanne is like both of his parents but of course the Phil side shows a lot more but I can't find it rn)

General li'l update

So, things have done anything but slow down for me in the real world. To keep it as vague as possible, there's a chance I'll be losing my job within the next month or so, though we're all currently working on possible solutions to this. Hoping for the best.

I've already done my panicking and preemptive grieving. 18 years in a single career is a hell of a run for someone my age, and if it has to come to an end then I've made at least some peace with that idea.

Still though, working every day to find solutions. To fix things. To keep surviving. It's exhausting, I will not lie. We're doing what we can over here.

There's so, so much good to look forward to this year. These are just bumpy patches of road. And some of the bumpiest roads I've driven on have taken me to the best places I've ever been. I'll be alright. I know I'll be alright. I'll be more than alright, by the time this is all said and done.

Been doing more reading of late, which I've been loving. You all are putting out such amazing work and I love bouncing in to read even if it takes me 3 attempts and a couple of hours to get through a posted chapter. Lovely escapes, all around.

My sister turned me onto a game ("game" kind of seems like an odd word for it but either way) on steam called Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. You customize a character, you have a little room, it plays lofi music at you and you can poke at a few playlists, build soundscapes around it (rain noises, thunder, wind, birds chirping, crackling fire etc etc) while your character mills about in spots doing things as just a beautiful little vibe-generator. You can collect spirit pals to vibe with you. It's just really cozy and nice, I love it. Highly recommend.

It has an optioning for in-app journaling, and I've been meaning to get back into journaling regularly just for the sake of my memory and everything else. That's been a huge boon over the last 2-3 days. It's got a productivity timer, to-do list, daily task/habits tracker.

Anyway, I've been making progress on writing but it's slow, staggered. Hit a bit of a wall last night with some of The Stranding where I wrote 8.5 pages of a scene and then just felt... unhappy with it. I had clearly lost the thread of why I started writing it, and needed to walk away to see if a fresher mind could find a place to rewind to and pivot so I can salvage it, or if I'm just gonna carve the whole thing out and set it in the Cut Scenes doc. The other 20 pages I've got waiting? Fine. Good, even. Proud of those. This one, I'm proud of what I'm writing but again... just feels more like floating aimlessly and bouncing. It was clear I wrote it while heavily distracted or with gaps between focus, so it jumps.

I'll see what I can salvage. Can't promise an update and am avoiding making it feel like I'm 'back on schedule' just to find something I can reduce pressure from in my life for the time being. But: I love you all. The Kudos, the views, the comments, the everything. It means a lot. You're all great.

If I do any generic vent/vibe writing, not necessarily attached to anything, I'll consider sharing it here for y'all. You guys deserve a bit of fun and sunshine <3

But what happened when ot7s made threads about SEVEN memes? You know what I'm about to say, right? I mean, it's one thing to not include the Jikook memes, fine. Hello! I’m sorry that today I come without any fun toku questions. I must say I enjoy reading your Boomger stuff on forsaken bird app! Love me a pathetic Blue also.

I wanted to ask whether you have a perfume recommendation for a beginner. I can’t tell you much about my skin, my usual preference at least so far is opposite of what your skin likes. I like citrus and jasmine and I know it isn’t suitable for your skin 😅 Current perfume I have might smell like citrus dish soap (I don’t mind it much) or simply citrus with its bitterness and freshness depending on a day. Yet my head might hurt from salt in perfume for example. Overall I might enjoy to smell a lot of stuff, but can’t wear anything heavy. Anyway, I thought you still might suggest something/know something good, you’re great at perfume stuff 🥰 Sorry if it is something hard, I understand if you can’t suggest me anything. ☺️

From your perfume recs I liked JHAG’s Not A Perfume because it is light and I think it suits me! At least it doesn’t smell like shit, lol (had this experience with Kenzo’s L'eau Pour Femme ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

don't apologise, I appreciate that I'm being thought of as someone with good advice lol! Not A Perfume is a fave of mine too, it's a shame so many people have the gene that means they completely can't smell it. I think it's a really sexy scent!

As for jasmine, I actually really love it! I don't wear it a huge amount bc most of the time it's not paired with the heavier woodsier notes I like and like... I have a giant jasmine plant out the front of my house, so I don't miss the scent too much when I'm not wearing it. That said, I like Lush's Vanillary which as you might guess is a pretty heavy vanilla scent but it has a great jasmine note in it as well as tonka (and lasts FOREVER even on my perfume-killer skin, really, I could still smell it after 5 drinks and 4 hours of sweaty dancing at Emo Nite lmao so be careful with your sprays...), and J'Adore Dior is a girly classic for a reason. There was also a relatively recent Gucci perfume that I liked a lot but I don't remember which one it was and there are multiple that have jasmine in their ugly floral bottle range so you'll just have to try them all I guess lol sorry. These should all be pretty easy to find and try tho!

And I'm glad you're enjoying my Boonboomger thread (it's no surprise to say I love pathetic blues too right lol) and enjoyed my Zenkaiger one! Zenkaiger is seriously insanely good, Donbros gets so much attention and praise for being The Best Sentai Ever I think because it was just so many people's first sentai (and/or first Inoue toku, whereas I know him VERY well lol) and it was fairly unusual in structure while still being entertaining but Zenkaiger I think really deserves that title if you were going to choose anything from Reiwa because it is so sentai. I liked Donbrothers and I LOVED Kingohger but both of them clearly were going "HEH we're not like OTHER sentais!!!!" and Inoue for his part seemed to actively hate a lot of what makes sentai sentai lol. Again I liked Donbrothers a lot but lbr it's basically just one of his Kamen Rider shows but brighter coloured.

As for zenkai ot3... I would like to write something for them some day, but it is difficult to think of something when the show is just so cute. I'm not someone who's good at writing fluff, really, and they demand it. My speciality is political underhandedness, moral ambiguity and veiled but burning hot eroticism. I think John Toei made Kaguragi for me specifically

I need to talk into the void about the stuff i’ve read about Fragile Threads so far (because everyone I follow on the non-blue bird app hasn’t read it yet) since it came to my house early and I need to scream in a way that’s cohesive and also non-spoilery.

I just. I have so many thoughts.

It should be noted that, in the five hours I’ve been reading, I just got to like, the second chapter of part three. We devoured two whole parts, which will be my main talking points here.

First thing’s first: I’m desperately awaiting more from Kosika and Tes. I really love their characters so far (more Tes than Kosika, because I’ve only seen that first chapter from her and Tes I’ve seen two). I want to know what it is about Tes’ sister (or, maybe, who her sister is involved with) that has Tes so absolutely terrified. Her character as a whole intrigues me and I’m excited to see how she interacts with everyone down the line (if she does).

Also, bonus points and shout outs to Tes naming her owl Vares. She’s just like me for real.

Second thing’s second: I really LOVE how so far the first nearly 150+ pages are a reunion for characters from Shades (which I think is really welcome if you read the Shades of Magic books first). Seeing Maris and Kell and Lila again was just REALLY nice, and I missed them.

Which, speaking of Kell and Lila, holy crap I missed them and their dynamic so much. I do very much love the growth they’ve gone through in the seven years from what I’ve seen. Lila, while she has some of the same traits (knife kleptomaniac), feels like she’s softened a little and Kell, while he has some of his sadboi traits, definitely feels…way more confident. Like, I’m talking LEAGUES more confident.

Plus, seeing them both function as Antari magicians is really cool, because Lila only really “grew” into her powers starting in AGOS. To see her using magic with proficiency is like “Wow”.

It isn’t the same for Kell, who, first and foremost, those flashback scenes to the months/early years after his magic was shattered hurt me so much, dude. Especially because like, magic was the thing he was valued for as part of the crown—his worth always lied in his ability to not just do magic, but wield it with ease and proficiency. He was always looked on as this figure of power.

I don’t blame him for being so afraid and anxious about what that means for his sense of self-worth. Especially considering that most, if not all of his worth, hinged on his ability to do magic.

I did like the little analogy that Lila gives him, though, about the swordsman who learned to use his other hand to fight (implying that Kell can still fight, just with using other things instead of his magic—magic, whether he can use it or not, doesn’t define his worth).

But the other little thing I appreciated is that this, even seven years after the fact, is still something Kell struggles with. Using magic, Antari spells or otherwise, is still a fallback for him when his swords and knives fail. It isn’t something that just goes away.

Some other small things I wanted to note is just I love all of the little callbacks to the first series (Lila and Kell’s little “What was that for?” “For warmth.” exchange had me giggling and kicking my feet. They’re so whipped it’s insane).

Also, this would explain where the ring (in that one snippet that had me literally on the floor) came from. It’s not a wedding ring (like I assumed it was), but it’s a binding ring. Which, is almost kind of like a wedding ring, but without the vows. Plus, the fact that Kell mentions he only wears two for the people he loves most (his girlfriend and his brother) made me 🥺

Some things for these characters never change.

And I’m excited to see the rest of it and meet the newer ones.

This is not the long term project that I spoke of previously (you’ll have to wait a bit longer for that), but rather…New Project!! The Final Prize is Soup - a spooky grey background with 3 chibis of girls with black hair and gold, red, green-blue eyes from left to right.

I will be participating in Spooktober again this year as director, character designer, and co-writer for a survival horror yuri visual novel by the title, The Final Prize is Soup.

After a disastrous break up, Qian Hailu wakes up to find that she's dead. Luckily (or unluckily), she's been given a chance to turn back the clock and avert her death—as long as she can pass three rounds in the game of life. You who are unqualified to drink Meng Po's soup, you have been chosen for the game of life. Three worlds, three rounds. Win all three and you may avert your fated death. Hiiii, the bird app and I are having moral and philosophical disagreements right now but you can always find me on threads, FB, and insta. 

14. how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?

I am always surprised when people tell me they laughed out loud or cried or had any sort of big emotional response to something I’ve written. And while I know that’s like the goal, there’s no guarantee that what you connect to emotionally is going to hit the same note for another person. Which is to say, I think I do tend to get into the head of a character, or I let them into my head. Is that different? Who knows. I think you have to feel it a little for it to ring true. 

I draw a ton from personal experience, be it conversations I’ve had, situations I’ve been in, things that I’ve felt. I always say that if you’ve read my fic, you probably know me better than anyone I know casually in my real life. Also, it’s real terrifying when someone you know in real life wants to read your fic! Stop perceiving me!

17.  What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block)

This is so tricky, because there’s no good way that works a) every time and b) for every person. For me, sometimes I have to write through the block and just unclog it with some trash before the good words start flowing again, but also sometimes I need the break and pushing through it only causes more harm. It’s really a matter of knowing yourself and checking in with what you need to keep making good art. Sometimes when I get stuck on a particular story, I know that I need to delete a big chunk of it but I’m stubborn and don’t want to and I spend too much time trying to fix it before ultimately doing what I knew I needed to do all along and just delete it. I think you have to be willing to admit you’ve made a wrong turn somewhere. And sometimes what needs to be deleted doesn’t need to be thrown away forever, but it’s just not right for THIS story. 

66. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie. pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc.)?

When it comes to fic, most of the pressure I put onto myself. I’ve learned to just ignore the comments that ask for more, demand updates etc because those don’t serve me in any positive way. I always appreciate when people read and comment, but fic is a gift we give of our time and effort and talent and it’s kind of a “you get what you get when you get it” situation. When I wrote greener grasses, I put myself on a weekly update schedule and I could do it but it was TOUGH. For my latest WIP, it’s months between updates and that’s okay too because it just has to be. 

Now, for writing that gets published, it’s sort of a different can of worms. Deadlines do matter, because you’re just one author working with editors who have their own deadlines and you’re part of a big schedule of authors and editors and if you’re late, it impacts a lot of people. I get a lot more strict with myself about achieving a certain word count every day, setting aside blocks of time to revise, etc. It takes priority over other things for sure. But I treat it like any other job - triage tasks, give it the time it deserves, do my best.

74. You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it? 

This is so funny because I think I do kind of have a distinctive style, at least people have said as such to me. One time another fic got posted and someone said it was written in a missparker style and I was like… am I so predictable?! But no, I think it was a compliment. Anyway, my style is domestic and character focused and probably someone is gonna drink coffee and probably someone is gonna go pee and probably it’s gonna start with song lyrics.

My opinion on Twitter and how we should use social media in 2023

I want to make this space a blog where I can express myself freely - so some posts will be art, and some will be like this. Thank you for staying with me!

Now, onto the topic of today's blog post.

Remember how we had tons of different social media websites, like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc.? And now, most of the younger folk stay on Twitter, now known as X, and rarely ever go to Facebook, not to mention what happened to MySpace.

As part of this centralization, from 2012 and up until 2023 Twitter used to be my home online. Most of my followers are on Twitter and most of the people I know from the communities I'm in are from Twitter. I liked the convenience of having one platform where I could post art, talk to people, share my opinions.

As you know, Twitter, now X, has been irreparably damaged. As time went on, even before Elon's takeover, it became impossible to share your opinions without being supressed by the Twitter algorithm. I should've known I had Tumblr as an option where I could do so. Well, now as I've realized this, I'm making this post to talk about it. But things are so much worse now for Twitter when it comes to expressing your opinions or finding out what people think about things - which was Twitter's original intention.

When Elon came over, things became even worse. Elon started promoting alt-right hate speech, and made it much harder to get noticed or even talk to people in DMs without paying for Premium. But unlike Reddit, there was no giant tidal wave of people moving to Mastodon or any of the other alternatives (and people came back to Reddit anyway because some communities just stayed there or got reopened, and Lemmy has a host of issues that make it inconvenient for the majority of users).

Instead, the community splintered - Bluesky invites are flying off the shelves, Meta had their euphoric moment with Threads, and even Tumblr is trying to attract Twitter refugees by replicating its user interface, but most people stayed on the bird-turned-letter app- meaning we as artists or fans have to stay on our old Twitter accounts while at the same time spreading our attention thin between different platforms.

Tumblr used to be this extremely niche platform for artists, fans, various communities but it is becoming more popualr as a general social blogging website. I think that's a good thing, because I don't believe in gatekeeping, but I also don't like how uncomfortable existing Tumblr users are right now with the fact that a ton of Twitter users are coming into the platform.

Basically, I should've "switched" to Tumblr a long time ago and made that my priority. I should've just left Twitter a long time ago, when it started becoming the "only positive vibes" platform. The people behind Twitter manipulated it and the content you see on it for years, and that is the thing I dislike the most, second to the far-right push itself.

But now, the only thing I can do is get used to a splintered experience of social media once again. And I kind-of have a method for it, but I'm figuring it out. Like, for example, why should I use both Mastodon and Bluesky if both are virtually the same except one is open for everybody but more niche, and the other one is locked but is actually trending? Maybe it depends on which one is more popular at the current moment. Maybe it's based on how fun it is to use the platform. Maybe it is based on what I can do on it.

The thing is - I'm in the exploring phase. And that's the fun part.

I am a slut for a yandere x yandere dynamics (cuz let be honest they are hilarious), so how would Yandere!2P!America, Romano, Italy and England react to catching their darling threatening the boys female flirty co-worker because she doesn't appreciate how close and touchy the woman is getting with them?

Her (E/C) eyes narrowed into the thin slits of a prowling cat’s. A hiss trapped behind clenched teeth as (Y/N) hid within the shadow of the white column. (Y/N)’s nails scraped against the marble to keep the blaze of jealousy within its thread-thin barrier.

The reason for the raging inferno bubbling below her skin was only ten feet away.

The man that unknowingly captured her heart was pinned against the wall. The tense smile on his face showed teeth so beautiful that the moon would turn away in shame as a mewling, dog-hearted shrew pushed her round, plastic excuse of a chest into his face.

Ears perking, (Y/N) leaned forward. Slowing her own breath to quiet the furious rush of blood in her ears as she saw neon-painted lips move.

“C’mon. Just one date is all I’m asking for hun.” Purred the mangled stray. Her manicured talons holding his tie between them like a prayer.

Her man chuckled, eyes glancing around the room to avoid looking at the drowned rat. “You know Pracilia,” His hands went up. “I’ve got some work to finish. Maybe some other time.”

Pushing Pracilia away, (Y/N) watched as he walked away. The briefest show of annoyance and disgust crossed his features before he disappeared completely, leaving the wounded bird of paradise to huff.

Pracilia stomped off, ruffling her feathers as she went. Yet, (Y/N) wasn’t satisfied with the events.  

A warning needed to be delivered. Taught with such intensity that even the stupidest of hounds would submit to its directions.

Giggling as the images swirled like crooked paintings, (Y/N) concluded. That she was the only mentor for the job.

America: Whistling, Allen strutted through the office halls. His black office door was locked and with a lunch box on his hip, he was ready to continue his favorite activity.

Finding and following (Y/N).

As Allen viewed the inside of her cubicle, he noted its cold and empty appearance. A frustrated sigh left him as he concluded that she left a while ago.

Returning to the halls, he removed his keys from his pocket and twirled them as he walked down to the dark parking lot. His phone sat in his other hand the app, Find IT, blinking as it calculated her current location.

The blue dot with a white heart dinged as the area changed. It showed the building's blueprint and (Y/N)’s dot was in the basement.

Raising a brow, Allen turned left at the intersection of the hall. Following the white baseboard to the heavy, grey door with red lettering spelling out 'fire escape'.

Allen noted that even in the darkness of the stairwell that there was nothing out of the ordinary. No sense of dread or hesitant shivers caused his spine to shudder until he opened the door to his destination.

The loud, shrill scream of a woman echoed like a banshee’s death cry.

Dropping his belongings, Allen ran. His head swiveled as he searched for (Y/N). Each dark, open, and empty room created a rising panic that tightened his chest and fogged his senses.

Another scream made Allen curse. Swearing to hurt whoever caused (Y/N) harm.

The smell of wet iron led Allen to a splattered, red room.

Inside there were two feminine silhouettes, one pinned to the wall with various shining knives and the other standing there. Soaked in red.

Muscles tensing and goosebumps rising, Allen was ready to dash in. To save his doll and slaughter the attacker.

When the psychotic laughter of the attacker stalled the heavy machinery that was his body. It sounded like the tinkling bells of his doll’s sweet giggles.

He watched as (Y/N) spoke. Venomously telling Pracilia that he belonged to her. She went into great detail about how together they would be, together they would stay.

“And, don’t worry.” (Y/N) smiled, teeth bared like a high school’s Queen Bee staring at her downed rival. “You’ll live, after all, this is only a warning.” Sassily she flipped her hair turning around.

Face to face, she and Allen were. Her mouth now dropped as tears down her red-stained face.

Murmuring his name like a sacred prayer that she was unworthy of speaking, (Y/N) kneeled before Allen. Sticky hands staining his black pants.

“D-don’t hate me.”

Allen licked his lips, smirking deviously at the sight before him.

“Oh, Doll.” He lifted her face, rubbing the blood deeper into her smooth, sweaty skin. “I could never, but for such a crime a punishment is needed.”

England: Oliver hummed almost silently as stared into the amber teacup on his desk. Its steam made his skin feel dewy.

With a gentle puff, he blew on the liquid, watching as it rippled and danced like a small ocean. As the warm liquid settled an image appeared where his reflection once was.

(Y/N)’s visage carried a warm glow as it showed her navigating through the office halls. Her hand flipped an unsheathed Swiss Army knife between her fingertips. The delicate motions were repeating in a pattern. Over the middle finger, down by the pointer and pushed back by the thumb.

He watched with love-glazed eyes as she pushed an office door open. Revealing that harlot, Pracilia taking selfies, her plastic melons pushed up in a weak attempt at a sexy pose.

The wench sat up and sneered before questioning why his Poppet entered into the room. Demanding she be quick before she gets (Y/N) in trouble for ‘acting’ out.

(Y/N)’s response was the click of the lock. Stepping forward, she brandished the gleaming knife.

“Oliver is mine, and it's time that it was made known to all you hussies.”

Pracilia gasped and scrambled. Before she could feebly attempt to flee far from her white desk, (Y/N) pounced. Knocking them both to the floor. Blood dripped like oil from a damaged car as (Y/N) sliced her arms.

As the carnage continued, Oliver’s smile curled like a pleased cat at the sight of his mate protecting her right.

Romano: Music softly hummed as Fabrizio stepped to the beat. The various pins shone from his mouth as he danced around the draped mannequin.

His latest wedding dress design had begun to take shape. The white bodice was form-fitting with lace sleeves that went to the top of the skirt. The skirt was flared out, tulle creating the fullness while keeping it lightweight.

Stepping back, Fabrizio stared at it. There was no doubt in his mind it was gorgeous, but something was missing. Tapping his gloved finger to his hand, Fabrizio’s mind ran through various possibilities.

Huffing through the needles in his teeth, Fabrizio shook his head. Maybe he needed to step away from the project for a bit.

 Like removing a cigarette from his lips, Fabrizio removed each needle and placed them into the model, small beads of blood blooming.

His frown deepened at the sight, and he leaned down to the form’s unmoving dull era. “If you don’t want to be a headless dress form, I suggest you don’t ruin (Y/N)’s potential wedding dress.”

 Glaring harshly into the glazed, tear-filled eyes of the once free girl before leaving the music-filled room.

His steps were quick as he looked for his bride-to-be, for she was the one thing that could soothe his anguished soul.

Yet he as walked into the yellow and white colored cubicle, there was no sign of (Y/N). The only thing that showed she was still in the building was the yellow satchel he had designed for her.

Humming, Fabrizio continued his search. He could not find her in the café or by the bathrooms. Each floor and cubicle he passed was met with a soft sneer as his bambola never showed.

Frustration began to fester under his skin at the lack of spotting his lovely siren. His steps were practically stomping as he raced to the last possible location (Y/N) could be.

The parking garage.

The chill of damp, stale air cooled his sweating skin as he stepped onto the dark tar before him. Cautiously he prowled, looking into various vehicles and between them for any sign of (Y/N).

Loud panting and two sets of racing steps caused him to pause. Eyes locked on to the rapidly moving shadows.

Fabrizio reached into his pocket pulling out a simple knife coated in a thin purple film. Muscles were ready for a fight, when Pracilia’s blood-soaked form rounded the grey column.

The hooker sped toward him, relief in her eyes as she attempted to crash against him. Fabrizio let out a small gag as he dodged the dying dog. Letting her fall to the floor, scraping her knees further.

“Fabrizio, you’ve got to help me!” She grabbed his pants, desperation for life turning her knuckles white. “(Y/N)’s gone crazy! Call 9-1-1 or something!” Her mutterings became sobs as she pushed him to help her hide and escape.

Leg raised, Fabrizio was ready to kick her off and let her rot.

“I ALREADY TOLD YOU HE’S MINE!”

Shocked Fabrizio could only watch as (Y/N) tore Pracilia away like a rabid dog. Standing with her back to him and breathing heavily as though she was the hero of his story.

A knife in her own hand as she began to stalk closer. Rambling about how her filth ruined his precious clothes, that women that didn’t understand commitment would never be good enough for him.

Italy: Luciano crushed the MS brand cigarette under his boot as he leaned against (Y/N)’s car. His watch read 22:17 causing his brows to furrow. The woman he pined for was never late.

Throwing his weight forward, Luciano fell forward off the car and began to walk into the large, dark, office building from the flickering lights of the parking garage.

“Where is she?” He muttered, thinking about what possibly could keep her. Various scenarios from passing out at her desk to illicit escapades with a lover caused his blood to boil over into a foam within his veins as he stepped into the empty elevator.

His foot rapidly tapped at its sluggish pace. As the number climbed higher, more scenes of her imaginary affair played as a low growl left the fuming Italian mobster.

The light ding that singled his destiny was ignored as he forced the doors to open faster. Prowling down the dark hall like a wolf on the hunt, listening for any noise that could reveal the location of his prey.

A gasp-turned whimper perked the wolf’s ears as he raced toward it. Kicking down the wooden door that blocked his path to claiming his darling.

The sight of Pracilia scrambling against a bloodied window with (Y/N) standing above her was not what he expected to see.

“LUCIANO!!” Pracilia reached for the stunned man, hand shaking from the effort to lift her arm. Pleas to save her escaping her lips like a death row inmate’s last word.

“DON’T TALK TO HIM!” Snapped (Y/N) as she slapped the down woman. “I’ll be just a second Luciano, dear. Just let me finish this.”

Another slice to her arm and Pracilia screamed again. Her eyes flittering as they began to close. The large, wicked smile was the last thing, she saw before giving in to the darkness. Lying limp under (Y/N)'s knees.

Dusting the imaginary dirt from her hands, (Y/N) turned to Luciano. Walking up to the man with hearts in her eyes as she grabbed his jacket collar.

“You,” She paused to look deeply into his soul. “Are coming home with me.”

Chuckling, Luciano threw his head back as it progressed to a madman’s cackle. “No, Tesoro.” He grabbed her wrist in a viperous grip. “You are coming with me.”

Before she could react, Luciano threw her head against the brick wall. Knocking her out completely.

Now Anon, please understand that I do really get your concern. I DO. I know what Capulets do and I am also very aware of what JM goes through mainly in the Twitterverse. But if I could ask you, very kindly, to take a step back and read what you just wrote with the eyes of someone who is just into BTS for the music and has no idea about solos, ships etc. I don’t know about you, but to me, this looks borderline drama with a pinch of fan-fictionl. 

This is not to say that JM’s name isn’t disrespected on a daily basis on the bird app, I am very aware of this. However, I am also very aware that for every “big account” there does exist a just as big or bigger JM-bias account outside of the Twitterverse. You just gotta look around and you’ll find them. All this just to point out the fact that, “drama and fan-fictions” aside at the end of the day JM makes numbers. 

Regardless of whether “(Sam608) on tiktok with evidences how big jm anti she is and creating space for jm antis, "ot7" accounts defendig her bc "she is just spilling the facts” or not JM is currently the global Ambassador for Dior. Regardless of whether “she called JK a toxic person and queerbaiter a few weeks ago..” a song where JM was only featured in, made it into the Billboards 100 which at the same time was the first time for a legendary K-Pop singer. Regardless of “how far the fandom is in tkks' ass for the sake of not losing followers and not being ratio'd...” JM is basically still going to be the IT Boy because there is a whole world outside of the Twitterverse, and any -verse that is mistreating JM, where they are ALL IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR PJM1 You can add any big attempt at scandals and sabotage to the list as well. 

Let’s stop haters, solos, antis, etc from making and controlling the narrative; KNOW, FOLLOW AND PROTECT THE REAL NARRATIVE.

DON’T INTERACT WITH TOXICITY & JUST REPORT.

And then if you want to take it a step further, create a space where you only spread positivity for JM if you want to. I’m sure he’d love that and ignore all the rest; like he already does. Okay?
