Red Robin punched Red Hood in the arm, and in response, Red Hood punched back. Red Robin winced, dramatically falling in the boat, sore and dizzy.

Red Robin: Ow! I'm too bruised to swim. I couldn't possibly save the… human garbage that's drowning. That leaves only one of us.

The Robins turned to Batman, who groaned, knowing he was about to make a massive mistake.

Batman (regretting his entire life): I will… do whatever one task you ask of me, and you have to promise never to bring up the fact that I've saved Joker numerous times in my life.

Nightwing: Deal. Enjoy the swim.

Nightwing shoved his father into the water, and the Dark Knight landed with a big splash.

Batman (swimming over to Joker): Stupid code. I should let him drown, but then I'd look like a killer and I doubt there's a therapist that would be able to fix me after that— Come on, you idiot!

Joker could only reply with water gurgles as Batman swam him back to the boat, and both were helped back on board. Red Hood 'accidentally' hit Joker with an oar, knocking the clown unconscious.

Red Hood: Whoops.

Batman: We never speak of this incident.

Red Hood: If you keep your end of the bargain, we definitely won't.

to be honest every time i watch the spoke uus2 episodes i always find myself circling back to the ending of the big wormhole vid.

something about how he questions why he did any of that, and more specifically: why he followed the rules of his challenge. something about how the 100 days format is a challenge, how spoke refuses to leave until those 100 days are up, and how power hungry he’s been getting i think is what makes me always end up thinking about that clip again.

he doesn’t know why he’s doing this, only that he needs power, he needs to be at the top, to call himself the most powerful. and only when he’s at the bottom does he understand why he needed to do it in the first place… like he’s blinded by the pursuit to be the best and doesn’t stop to think. and it’s so similar to what he says at the end of that wormhole video.

and tangentially:

it’s like it’s the more childish part of him that just needs to be up there, does anything to climb up there, who doesn’t know when to stop and who doesn’t know what the boundaries are… everything is apart of this game everything is apart of this challenge; i will trample whoever i need to get to where i want.

it’s like he’s detached from everything, and that’s where i think the editing choices come in. the more “childish” music and style, the narration, it’s all showing this sense of detachment and disassociation from the people in the server and his actions. it’s just a game. it’s just a challenge. it’s something that he has to win no matter what.

he doesn’t regard himself as a “villain” because isn’t this what everyone wants? to be the most powerful? he’s not a villain because everyone wants this.

I want Helldivers but medieval. Endless undead and monstrous forces that the soldiers are fighting against in a large group community effort where all players benefit from the actions of each other.

Using magic to obliterate the forces of "evil" in cool ass ways offers a bit more flexibility than Helldivers stratagems.

On the subject of "why did Armand turn Daniel, if not out of spite?" My prediction is summed up perfectly by this quote from the movie Last Life in the Universe:

“The lizard wakes up and finds he’s the last lizard alive. His family and friends are all gone. Those he didn’t like, those who picked on him in school, are also gone. The lizard is all alone. He misses his family and friends. Even his enemies. It’s better being with your enemies than being alone. That’s what he thought. Staring at the sunset, he thinks. 'What is the point in living… If I don’t have anyone to talk to?'"

I do think at this point in the story there is genuine animosity between them (whether or not DM has already happened). But faced with the possibility of being alone - really truly alone - for the first time in 500+ years.... Armand decides that it's better to tie himself to a rival than to have no one at all.

NO!!!!!! so i had jing yuan say “kitty” bc reader was acting like a cat, sunning themselves and rubbing up against him for warmth all while trying to appear standoffish and unbothered. he said it to lovingly poke fun at their behavior; he knew they would hate it but he likes getting a rise out of them i fear </3 this reader is very me coded i will admit…however “kitty” and “kitten” aren’t pet names i could get down with—unless it was some hybrid situation.

i haven’t nailed down any nicknames between us. i’m definitely working out the kinks (literal and metaphorical LOL) of his character so i don’t feel confident assigning him pet names. he strikes me as the type to use ridiculous pet names to be silly…but when he’s being earnest he actually uses my name. but idk i might change my mind so the answer is officially to be determined 🙂‍↕️
