Subspace getting Darkheart's sword has so much potential omg. Like give the most manic, mentally unstable, 80% sure he has a god complex of some kind inphernal a SFOTH sword. Oh the chaos.

And Darkheart now is now mostly powerless and has to deal with the consequences of his actions. Yay :D

I wanna yap about the stuff that my brain came up with:

- First of all, Subspace gets a wardrobe change. If he gets a God sword he better look good damnit!

- I'm still not sure what Subspace's end goal would be, since he's less loyal to Blackrock he'd probably just try to take over the whole Inpherno.

- When Rainbow fought Subspace when he betrayed them she got hurt really bad, like "I don't think she can bounce back from this" kind of bad which drove Coil to try and kill him but Skateboard and Hook had to hold him back so he wouldn't get hurt.

- ^ Rainbow survives btw, she's just pissed, like "idc if I almost died, let me throw hands again I can win it this time" kind of pissed.

- Rocket almost strangles Hook before releasing that you can't strangle a robot and then beats them over the head with his skateboard until Sword pulls him off of them.

- When Rainbow was in the hospital, Vinestaff immediately wanted to know what happened and when the others explained everything she wanted to help them fix everything.

- ^ also I want Vinestaff to jump Subspace, no one messes with her gf.

- Sword would also contact Medkit about it as well which would go something like: "I'm sorry Subspace has a SFOTH sword???"

- ^ so yeah, everyone welcome Medkit to the team.

- Darkheart still has some magic but he can't reverse the switch up, also he's not okay because he sees his sword as a separate being and is not okay with being separated from his sword.

- Sword is so freaking stressed bro, and thanks to the personality altercation he isn't really talking about it. Please get my boy some therapy dear God.

- Also Hook is still spiraling, poor baby doesn't know what free will is anymore and questions if they even had it in the first place.

I am so sorry for the late response to this ask, anon! I wanted to reply as SOON as I received it because this is something I really like talking about, but then I realized I... have no idea how to articulate it without sounding insane. we're all insane here though so it's okay.

I'll be honest... I think it was almost, like, love at first sight. I can't quite explain it, but when I saw ray in action in his games for the first time I felt an instant connection with him that I've never experienced with any other fictional crush I've ever had... it's like. I don't know. you know how carly rae jepsen sang the lyric "before you came into my life I missed you so bad"? honestly that feeling is incredibly real. I'd always felt kind of empty, like there was something missing in my life, and as ridiculously corny as it sounds... being introduced to ray felt like having that missing puzzle piece finally put into place. I knew there was something special about him when I realized that he made me feel whole.

it's weird to type out. I didn't believe in soulmates before I fell for ray, but when I did... hoo, boy. never have I been more sure that some things really are just written in the stars. :')

[ToTch 9 spoilers] Is it wrong of me to say that this chapter felt a bit disjointed from the rest? Everyone felt more hostile towards each other. The pacing was also a bit off in my eyes. I wasn't really satisfied with this episode, I don't know how to put it into words.

it's not wrong, anon!! everyone's got the right to feel how they wanna feel over the story!! i really liked the hostility (im a slut for escalating conflict, HAHA) but that doesnt mean Everyone will like it

i do very agree with you on having some qualms with the pacing. i found that the emotional/personal relationship between luke and mc in main story 9 was quite rushed and cldve been done better, and i talk more about that in this previous ask response. like in summary....i find chapter 9 to be a FANTASTIC Main Story Plot chapter, but a bit lacking as a Luke Focus chapter.

as for the disjointedness & hostility, i was also INCREDIBLY JARRED but after realizing the Contexts and Timeline of when the story was occurring (heres a post where galena surely-galena gives her very interesting ch9 thoughts and i come in to wordbarf abt luke's hostility and timelines), it made more sense to me and made me more excited for more than unsatisfied. like, ch9 happens Some Amount Of After the pluto cruise thing, and during that portion of time a rather large shift in the structure of the team had happened. additionally, this main story kinda confirmed that the main stories happen in a timeline where personal stories dont happen, so everybody has Not had their emotional growth and character arc KJHAVFAJHFASLF. still, that being said, there were a bunch of ways that they cldve eased the story into this portion of time for a smoother effect.

(i actually added the odd pacing in my twitter livereact thread and i stand by this. main story 8 rlly spoiled me for god tier story pacing kJHVAKFJHAS)

something i also realized and wanna point out is that...mc is heavily alienated from the boys in this chapter

i say that not as a criticism but as a mere observation. luke is pushing her away, vyn was off SOMEWHERE, marius was the most like his usual self to her but he left quite quickly, and HOO BOY ARTEM....i feel like im gonna need someone with a phd in artem wing to dissect artem (directing u to sam samsspambox, if ever ur looking for an artem expert :D). but yeah like....the Change in the case that's happened has made the team wary about each other in varying degrees, and while theres no outright hostility against mc, she is also included in who to be wary of. this fits in narratively with everything else going on but it also means that like

this is just the beginning

like how mc walked into that meeting room and was like "?????? WHATS GOIN ON", since we see the story from her eyes And since the team is now in this state of being divided, there is less information that we get on the spot and more has to be found By her. so in a way, the team has become another thing mc (and the players) will have to investigate and pick apart

My writing style, I'm glad you like it. Though, I do need to get a little better. Being descriptive is something of a weakness for me but I'll get better. Though I'm still grateful to hear you comment that you like it, it means a lot, trust.

My weakness is that the muse' canon is something I'll always want to expand on. For instance Yusuke's food truck and secret private detective work? Took that off the books where his job as a food vendor was really a front for him handling supernatural work. Then everything else beyond that stems between all the yakuza games I played, just the ones that would make sense for him. I'd say 90% of my headcanons can be traced back to the original yyh manga.

My creativity with my plots really just come from the games I play and the movies and shows I've seen. I mean I don't mind the simple 'interaction' between muses where they just stand and talk. But I also love to keep things moving.

I love how you have to put pieces together to figure out what's going on with Y/N! Because when your theory gets confirmed you just get this SERATONIN (is that how you type it??) from it

(this one is honestly more of a nit pick just saying:) I feel like you could do a bit of foreshadowing like for example: In chapter 1 you could have described Y/N's backpack in detail so the readers know how it looks like and think "hMMM why are they describing it in such detail ???" and then when you get to chapter 3 you could describe Y/N's backpack as something else (not entirely something else but a small change) without Y/N reffering to it feeling like 'a different bag' maybe get him to say "something feels off..." so when the reader sees this they'll put the pieces together and say "WOOOAH WAIT THATS DIFFERENT FROM THIS THAT WAS SAID IN THIS !!!! :0" !! BUT!! Honestly that's just a little nitpick from me because I tried to write a few stories before (but then I gave up halfway) and I know bits and pieces on how to do cool foreshadowing (from a writer friend) but take this with a grain of salt because I am still ig a newbie at writing!! ><

also when Y/N is talking in his head and a thing thinks instead of him you could have a subtle shift in tone (idk if I am explaining this one well sorry I am a bit sleepy)

Let me preface this, anon, by saying that this might be the most challenging ask I’ve received to date. That’s why I let it sit there for more than 1.5 weeks while agonizing over it on every run I’ve been on in between. So hats off to you because dang!

Thoughts on characters in the DDF universe are generally a tricky thing because none of them – not even (or: especially not) our three mains – are designed to be anything but two-dimensional. This of course shouldn’t stop anyone from diving deeper into some kind of character analysis, but personally, I’ve always found it a bit off-putting alas I probably have fewer thoughts and headcanons on the folks inhabitating the Rocky Beach universe than one might think. I don’t even find it that compelling to look at from a meta perspective (where, in contrast, I could spend hours talking and writing about TKKG’s narratives. And in fact I have.) So what’s mainly of interest to me here is looking at Minninger aka the one who invented dear Clarissa, and to speculate about his motives for telling the Franklin stories the way he did.

In an attempt to look at it from an in-universe POV first: Amazing character, most likely the best female villain this series will ever see (food for thought: there haven’t been that many to begin with, and most of the ones we got were either written by BJHW or Minninger. MUCH to ponder on), personally, I find her way more fun than Hugenay, giving her two (or three, if the rumors are true) follow-up stories is more than deserved. Furthermore, her legacy is that she appeared in two absolute killer episodes, which many (rightfully) consider to be some of the best the series has to offer (so do I, but plot twist, the best for me is not Stimmen aus dem Nichts but Rufmord). 100/10, can relate to Bob Andrews bc I already grew infatuated with her and she didn’t even need to hypnotize me for that. A great cunning, devious, manipulative, stone-cold bitch ready to kill a man or two at any given point, it’s what we all need and deserve. Shouldn’t even be that big of a surprise that this role slaps so hard bc the majority of things Judy Winter does gain IconicTM status, it is the law. Ever since @charlyritter brought up the idea that Sabine Vitua would be the perfect choice to play her in a live action movie, I cannot stop thinking about this. (And ever since I mistook a picture of young Sabine Vitua with short hair for Bibiana Beglau I am slightly fixated on the idea that she’d be a great fit as well.)

  From a more sober POV: I’ve talked about this before but SadN is actually a very sloppily edited adaptation (e.g. Katharina Brauren most def was recorded separately, there are a lot of inaccuracies-that-easily-could-have-been-avoided-with-some-proper-research-and-a-capable-editor in the script etc.) AND most of it is just Minninger ripping off other stories published via EUROPA (I know none of you are aware of this bc y’all lack the refined taste to engage with TKKG, but the entirety of getting phone calls from the dead? Please listen to #82 Spuk aus dem Jenseits which got published in 1991 aka six years prior to SadN, which Minninger himself edited, and which imo is actually WAY more creepy, esp bc Wolf played a lot with elements from Hofmann’s Sandmann. While we’re at it, I might also drop that Franklin’s iconic line “Reiß Dein Maul nicht so weit auf, sonst schieb ich Dir eine Faust rein, an der Du erstickst“ also first appears, word for word, in TKKG #8 Auf der Spur der Vogeljäger. Well oops.) NEVERTHELESS I argue none of it matters in the long run bc the adaption makes it worth the while. Minninger himself is a trickster in that regard bc what he lacks in writing skills (lbr he doesn’t have any, his stories are mediocre at best) he makes up for in hedonism. As in: he mainly writes about what interests him most in a DDF setting (queer characters, middle-aged and/or old yet powerful ladies, horror vibes, scary, disturbing stuff bordering on the macabre and ludicrous) and designs his characters specifically so that he can cast all the actresses and actors he admires. (Honestly, that was actually a question I sent to him back in 2004 when his Fragebox at the rbc was still running; I wanted to know if he already knew he wanted JW to play CF, and he wholeheartedly confirmed.)

In this case, he got especially lucky bc I am firmly convinced he had no clue at all that Andreas Fröhlich and Judy Winter would play off each other so mesmerizingly. I mean, how could he have known? JW being great and killing it was not a surprise, sure, but Andreas was a far stretch away from being the hot shit he evolved into ever since. And if they hadn’t sold their two extremely unusual scenes so well… both episode and the character would have flopped, I think.

But it didn’t, and then Rufmord came along and the rest is history.

I have severe problems with Signale aus dem Jenseits ESPECIALLY bc of the way the narrative treats good ol’ Clarissa here, and I rather wish this ep had never gotten published in the first place. I don’t want to blow up this reply even further, but allow me to quote a snippet from the episode commentary I left on the rbc a while ago, as it sums up some of my troubles quite nicely:

“[Die] Wortwahl einer „Demontage“ Clarissa Franklins hat mich ins Grübeln gebracht. Vielleicht soll genau DAS die Krux der Sache sein – den Abstieg und Ruin einer Figur nachzuzeichnen, die einst bereit war, eiskalt über Leichen zu gehen und die selbst in Situationen, in denen sie auf den ersten Blick die Machtlose zu sein scheint, doch alle Fäden in der Hand hält und Menschen spielt wie Marionetten. In dem Fall wären die abgeschwächten Anleihen/Rezitationen/Referenzen an die Vorgängerfolgen natürlich geschickt (und bewusst?) gewählt und verstärken den Eindruck, dass Clarissa Franklin tief gefallen ist und mittlerweile nach jedem ihr sich bietenden Strohhalm greift (= Schmierenkomödie als Rache an drei Teenagern). Soll dies eine legitime Lesart des Textes sein, dann ist das Narrativ für mich allerdings falsch aufgebaut, weil es sich in zu vielen Nebenschauplätzen verliert.”

In a way that I spent my entire Easter holiday break reading and listening to Rufmord 24/7. Thinking about her and her encounter with Just, Peter and Bob for hours each day. Desperately longing for more content with her. While my teenage self as evolved a bit, I’m still fond of her. So as much as I want Minninger to just let her rest, I am also hoping that his forth story featuring her only got postponed and not scratched entirely. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Hi! So a bit ago, I met a lovely amazing anon on ao3 (who is a BLESSING compared to the other mean anons commenting out there, thanks Kat, you make mine and im pretty sure other author's days too). So we got into talking about books and I offered to make a list for her and post it on tumblr so other people too can scrounge through so here we are lmao.

I gathered this list from the personal notes I had made to myself to add these books to my bookshelf when i move out and also from another list i made for my little siblings because no way are they gonna not read the good stuff I found. It's like a rite of passage now.

Just a note: I don't read romance. But since books don't have the very convenient tags we get on ao3, I end up getting to romance-y parts. The only romance books I have read are middle school level romance lmao XD Nothing except kisses and stuff lol.

The Maze Runner series

Maze Runner

I love this book. This series. Ngl, one of the first books where I felt that heart-clenching feeling of hurt. Love the characters, the world-building was in the fandom for a brief while and I love the plot too. Better than the movie plot anyway XD

Mare Runner: Scorch Trials

Second book in the series, also very good. Literally an adventure. So many twists and turns. Once more, the characterization is also amazing!

Maze Runner: Death Cure

Third and last book in the series as a main. Heartbreaking. Did shed tears. Page 250 still kills me. O u ch.

The Fever Code

Also in the same series and OUCH. It's the characters before the whole drama happened and they're kids and higehrfwb 😭 No kidding I was squealing and nearly threw the book multiple times out of excitement. It solved a couple plotlines too. I adored it. Plus, it gave me some closure from the many many (inevitable) deaths.

Crank Palace

It's a novella, but clears the mysterious gap that was in the third book. Plus, it gives much much more closure but I'm still crying so do what you will with that information. I love the new "OC"s here too.

Trials of Apollo

The Hidden Oracle The Dark Prophecy The Burning Maze The Tyrant's Tomb The Tower of Nero

Listen- listen- I know this is kinda obvious and you might be asking "where's the rest of the pjo series?" but that's a given. My personal favorites are the pjo, hoo and toa series, but toa somehow spoke to me more because the main relationship wasn't a romantic one like all the other teen books I read. I also adore Apollo/Lester's character development? Like, at first he was this carefree god, then at the end of the series, he transformed into a person who cared so much and so deeply and was willing to die for others. That is peak character development and if I hadn't read toa, I would still be blundering around and confused with my multi-chap fics as to how characters actually develop. Because you can see that journey so clearly in toa.

Jinx series

Jinx: The Wizard's Apprentice Jinx's Magic Jinx's Fire

I love this series so much??? I am a sucker for fantasy novels and this was so so good. I love the storyline and-

AND I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE FOUND FAMILY ASPECT HERE. THIS. IS LITERALLY RELUCTANT MENTOR-FATHER AND HYPER AND KEEN MENTEE-SON. AHHH.

Anyway, this was my first found family novel. I loved the whole storyline too, this was also the series where I was first introduced to the concept of whump (without knowing what whump actually was).

The Mapmaker Chronicles

Race To The End Of The World Prisoner Of The Black Hawk Breath Of The Dragon

These were also some of the first whump books I read. And I especially loved this because the plot was it. A smartass scrawny boy who accidentally turned into a hero? Hmmm, I wonder who that reminds me of. (Tim Drake. It reminds of Tim Drake)

But the characters are also special to my heart. There is minimal romance in here. Any romance is to move the plot forward.

Also a mentor-mentee relationship here. Not so much found family to the heart seeing as the main character already has family back home, but the whole crew definitely is a family of their own. I especially adore Ash! Ahhh! She's lovely and amazing. Oh and Zain- *sighs* he is the perfect mentor figure to scrawny li'l Quinn. And the hateable characters are so perfectly hateable!! The author truly is talented at stories.

This book was described in the reviews as "Harry Potter meets Alice in Wonderland" and it stayed true to its description. It had beautiful and amazing characters, and an evil-mentor & reluctant hero-mentee relationship (though not at first) and I am a sucker for that. Also, I just love the character herself. Morrigan is a very good and fleshed out character and I will love her forever.

Wundersmith

We explore more of the evil-mentor & reluctant hero-mentee relationship. But Jupiter, Morrigan's actual caretaker, is the PERFECT uncle/caretaker for her and he's so protective of her and i just-

Hollowpox

Here we discover some of that delicious power upgrades. I also love all the friends! HAWTHORNE IS MY FAVORITE AND WILL ALWAYS BE I LOVE HIM. Stunning characters here 💫 Also some wise comparison of the different isms and phobias (as in homophobia, racism etc.) here in terms of fantasy.

This... was one of the first mystery books I had ever read (my actual first was Sherlock Holmes cuz I found it on my grandparents' bookshelf and read it cuz I had read every other book they owned which wasn't a lot). I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. It was calm and just- a bunch of kids going on a perilous journey to solve a mystery to save the city. Those kind of vibes. But the vibes were so good. So enjoyable. Every time I hear about this series, I just sigh in contempt.

There are very, very interesting characters here too. The characters are what made the story so good. All of them have unique quirks which they use to crack clues and form conclusions and dive into actions. Such good characters. 10/10, honestly.

The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict

This is part of the Benedict society universe, but it takes place years before the main events. It has adventures of the leader of the group in the main series as a kid. This book has a special mention because the storyline was different to the style of the main series and it had tropes. Just- the friend and the character itself and- dnfhbevbiluw

Okay, I admit, Benedict here does remind me of Tim (my fav character in DC). Like y'know smol Tim with the camera? Those kind of vibes. Very strong vibes. I read this way before I discovered Tim even existed so maybe this book plays a part in my favorites?

Addie Bell's Shortcut To Growing Up

This book... brought me to tears. This was the second book that prompted salt water to slip out of my tear ducts. It was a strange feeling. Cuz I was not used to crying for books and movies and shows.

The plot just hit hard. A 12-year-old Addie magically time-travels to when she's 16 and experiences life as a teenager. The plot gives more than you expect. There are boys, yes, but that is a side plot, not a main plot. Which is why I love the book so much. Addie wants to be one of the "girly" girls who talks about boys and stuff and goes to parties like her older sister, but then as she lives the life of a teenager more and more, she realizes just how much she lost. Friendships, family, her personality, her interests, herself.

The part that made me cry was her missing her sister. Cuz, well, I'm an older sister. And my sister who is the oldest after me has the same age difference as Addie and her older sister. It wasn't just her missing her sister in that scene, it was everything crashing down on her that moved me to tears. Amazing book. If anything, I recommend you either read this or 'Better You Than Me' if nothing in this list goes towards your liking.

Better You Than Me

This was the first book that made me cry. It has two characters, one in middle school, the other who is an actress, swap bodies. So the typical middle school kid gets to live as a famous actress, and the famous actress gets to live as a typical middle school kid. Of course, neither of them end up liking their new life very much, but that only teaches them two important messages: appreciation and communication. God, I learnt so much from this book. I was like 13 or something when I read it and it resonated within me enough to make me cry. I adore this. SO much.

I Speak Boy

I actually have a library-borrowed copy with me right now XD It's about a middle school girl, Emmy, being very confused with the opposite gender. (Very much hetero, no homo despite it being published in 2021). But, once again, the reason I love this book isn't cuz of the romance (though it is kinda satisfactory but also a bit cliché). It's how the main character realizes that boys aren't everything. Just like in 'Addie Bell's Shortcut To Growing Up'. It's a lot about friendship.

The reason why I like these books by Jessica Brody (I haven't read the others yet) is because of the Bechdel Test factor in it.

S. K. Ali books

Again you have another author's name. This time, it's Muslim fiction!

Love From A To Z

The first Muslim fiction book I've ever read. And yes, it is a romance book. But it does not have any touchy-touchy stuff (except in the Epilogue and a couple dream scenes, very vague though and only kissing). As in, the main characters follow mainstream Sunni procedures and do not touch each other as they're not married. Which just leaves room for a ton of emotional romance.

I adore this simply because I'm a Muslim Hijabi myself and I am very much biased.

It deals with so many aspects of romance though, like personality first, lust last, and whether they are the right fit or not and whether they actually like each other or the idea of each other and how families play into this and online hate and emotion control and of course, the marvels and oddities of life. It is packed with so much. And when I finished the book, I had a good long cry. This is the first book that made me cry the longest. Because- because I was starved for representation! And this book did it so well! I just- love this so much.

The author has published a sequel, Love from Mecca to Medina, I have yet to read it because I'm waiting for it to be in a library. I prefer physical copy books.

Once Upon An Eid

Okay, this is very Muslim-based, but if you treat it like Muslim Christmas, everything becomes clear XD Also, Ali wrote only one story here. This book is actually a collection of stories by different Muslim authors. And each story is so special. Many people don't really know how Muslims celebrate Eid or why it's so special (besides spiritual reasons) and what it looks like. This paints an accurate picture. And it contains most, if not all, types of Muslims celebrating Eid. Sunni, Shia, refugee, African, American, revert/convert, South Asian etc. So really diverse.

Saints and Misfits Misfit In Love

Very much love-centred, but also has very vague mentions of sexual assault/rape/non-con. Yes, in a Muslim community. It exists. A lot actually. But it's hidden and hushed down. Disgustingly.

But the first book addresses it and how a Muslim girl battles it. She's in love with a white boy, yes, but she doesn't give in to her white boy desires. Neither does she fall to a non-white boy, at least not fully.

Which is why I recommend that if you're reading the first book, you definitely, definitely read the second one along with it. Because I felt even though the ending of the first book was satisfactory, it wasn't satisfactory to me. But the second book was! Because at the end of the second book, Janna (the main character), comes to the conclusion that boys aren't everything. And even though there is a very perfect boy that fancies her and she fancies him too, she takes a breath and says that she isn't too focused on that. And I adore that. But she only comes to that conclusion after falling in love with many, many, many boys. I did get a bit uncomfy cuz romance just in general makes me uncomfy, its a personal thing, but I kept reading it cuz... Muslim fiction! Anyway, good book series. But I like Love From A To Z better.

I really liked and cared about him before BUT!! this update and being able to finally see him in game myself after missing the other events... It is VERY VERY NICE and it made me like Thomas even MOREEEE

OK NOW TO ANSWER LIKE. THE OPINION QUESTION MORE DIRECTLY. He's a really fun character and as a duo with Robert he works rather well. He's ways in the background, overshadowed by his brother...(Who kind of needs him sometimes since the start of the company and YKNOW the literal guy he uh. Stands on to be level with the other Cogs. Like these guys need each other and I can elaborate on that more later) Working quietly. And yet he's quite the talker when he opens up and gets the chance to!! He's like me and a lot of people I know (I sure relate to him in this regard lol I literally state I ramble a lot in MY BIO and I DO) - more quiet and reserved people, sometimes seen as lonely... But with many things on mind, just waiting for the right people to trust to share these things with. Genuine trust or just comfort in a given situation... It's whatever but it's does also tie to another thing I wanna talk about later....or now actually

I know they state he is not befriending the Toons in the podcast - but with the way he speaks with us and his literal actions - it speaks louder than that and I think we should be allowed to make the interpretation that he is slowly gaining our trust. And I think it's a very interesting concept that the literal brother of the man behind this evil company that goes against the toons... Is befriending them. ( and literally your comic) the potential here is insane and it's more interesting than just yeah he stays true to his word he doesn't like you

It's clear that he does care - but it's true he's a very caring person in general. (then again a part of it is letting people step over him...literally. And he's aware of it and he dislikes it! Another thing I can relate to and speak from the heart about. But there's things I don't relate to and of course relatability is not all the reason why I like him... But it is a big part of it. Sorry not sorry I will project onto this man later) he does show he cares by literally closing the elevator and lying to save us from being seen... And like more story based as there's technically just one but ofc there's multiple players but in this case you can imagine yourself going there alone to speak with him each time as an individual... Like....the story about the extra stuff doesn't apply here this is personal.

But it is true he probably.. Does want to get rid of it. He makes a gift from the heart and it goes under appreciated. Unwanted...yeah I wouldn't want to see it either. But someone else may want it so yknow... Cutely gives it to the toons.

Like come on you can't tell me this guy isn't trusting these toons slightly, or, story wise, the toon/toons who come see him each April toons. Of course the recent one is the freshest in my mind and I only experienced the precious ones through reading the dialogue... I may miss some details of things he rambled about... But I genuinely believe with each visit he grows to trust the toons more and oh boy that could be interesting conflict... Anyways BACK ONTO THOMAS. I love this guy he's really nice I'd love to just sit in a room with him and exist together and sloy dwelve into back and forth rambling about stuff and I'd totally hype up his knitting... I just AURGHH. He had things going for him and these expectations... That he didn't met up to. But his brother had a plan and Thomas being well... Thomas. Not the leader type - he followed along... Because it was the best for him as who he is even if his parents wanted him to do other things

Despite the two (Him and Robert ofc) not exactly agreeing on things alwyad there's still care between them as brothers... They really are a duo!! Even if the topic is uh. A really corrupt capitalist robot company... And with Robert being preeeetty much very much so an asshole it's still just. Aurgh. Fun. Love the dynamic. Robert could just be an ass but he still cares about Thomas by some regard... I think about the time he watered Bubby for Thomas despite his hatred for the plant a lot okay

Thomas and Robert are already the most like, lore full characters (or Cogs specifically) other than some mgrs now and Atticus and Redd - but there's still so much like... Of an mysterious aura about them. We only hear about their lives and never see it... Robert we see in action in the comics - but we see him ONCE in game in a CUTSCENE MOST PEOPLE SKIP... Thomas we see in the background of the comics only speaking like... Once, I believe?? Even if he's there he's really easy to just... Not even notice. But he appears ingame and speaks DIRECTLY TO YOU. SEVERAL TIMES. for ALMOST HALF AN HOUR STRAIGHT...and he tells you a lot about his and by extentions Robert's personal life - something the comics can't tell you, and surely not the short cutscene with Robert during the directors fight

Like... They have the most lore but a lot of things are still unclear and it makes people want more answers and ponder more and it's BRILLIANT. I love it. I mean... I could rant about how a lot of info is hardly accessible in TTCC as a genuine criticism of how the game and lore is handled... But that's maybe for another day. BACK TO THOMAS SO LIKE ANYWAY- Thank you for canon aro ace character who states his opinions directly and is not forced to do it... And for fans being respectful about his identity for the most part as I can see and not... Forcing him to be romantic for ships. I avoid the fandom, mostly, specifically for reasons like this and because people scare me... So. I don't know how it really is. But an issue with aro ace characters is that even if we have a Canon one often fans will make them involved in romance for stupid ships anyway, absolutely erasing their identity. And then they bring up the "SOME AROSPEC/ASPEC PEOPLE DO DATE"... But they do this for all characters and ignore the chunk of people who don't, who just want to see themselves represented in media...im very tired of this being taken away from us as... Yknow. An aroace person myself. Thank you thomas for your swag.

Sooo.. How about some headcanons and personal things and me projecting because MOST HCS ARE JUST THAT!!!

Okay hey did you know I work with plants too? Yeah. (VERY SHITTY) agriculture school goer here.. Florist specifically.. Yeah I have no life plans for this but that's personal. Oh hey that sounds like someone I know. (also being around plants a lot makes me think abt thomas bc of association... And bc I'm spaces out 24/7 very likely thinking about my hyperfixation and the lore anyway to escape the moment. Uh I have problems OK?) Anyways...

Before I get to general projection stuff I wanna say my hcs!!

I think he sometimes carries gardening tools in his pockets and forgets about them. I do that. Forgets whole sharp gardening shears and then he needs to take out a pencil for someone, and instead he whips out something use able as a weapon. FUN!

I am not sure if it's stayed what his first knitting was ever... But whether or not this was his first or later knitting project doesn't matter - but I like to think that he knitted pot decorations for his plants!! Little pot sweaters, maybe!! Wouldn't even overheat the plants (some plants have veeery specific requirements but his ficuses should be fine) , I think, they don't give off heat for the sweater to insulate anyway, so it would really be just decorational....

And again, if the Cogs had cats I think he'd be a cat dad.

And now. The personal projection observation part... A reason why I think I like him so much is because I relate to him AND Robert. As someone who is a... Well. The anger issue filled, family failure shorter and younger sibling in my family... I can see myself in that. Some parts of the story really hit home... I'm not gonna get too personal here, but my relationship with my brother is... Rocky...been getting better though. He's very successful and I haven't done much in my life. He's the leader role. On the other hand, the dynamic here for Thomas and Robert is swapped... Thomas could've followed the success his parents set him up for, but he followed the lead of his brother instead - who his parents didn't see as good enough.

It's very different things, yes, but the things that are similar are what brings it a bit closer... Even if some things don't align well I can feel my heart sink when Thomas talks about it because. Ahaha yeah that ties to some of my biggest worries in life and it relates to me being the loser child in the family whoops

But Ganon's spirit presense thing is there and it's like "okay but what if you just got with him anyways" and it split said seer in half (now we have Lana, aka good Seer, and Cia, aka evil Seer)

And so the whole universe kind of breaks and merges several parts of other Zelda timelines together! Fun!! Anyways Cia is on a mission to go free Ganon's soul bits that are separated in different time lines so she can marry Link, but she decides that, if she's going to break into a bunch of highly guarded places to release Satan, she needs an army.

So she finds the worst fucking guy (Wizzro) (affectionate) and Volga (A dragon/human who has no desire whatsoever to help her) and forces them to team up with her. Also she kills like. So. So many gorons in the process.

They run over to Hyrule Castle to fuck shit up and kill Zelda cause they're evil and they gotta, and shenagins ensue. Everything is bad, Zelda and Impa are doing their best to fight, at some point Link comes out to help and that's how they figure out he's the fabled hero of legend or whatever, and they use a giant magic fairy who giggles in what I'm going to say is an uncomfy way and said fairy explodes half of the bad guys with a magic bomb. At some point Zelda disappears and everyone assumes she got kidnapped. I don't actually remember what happened.

ANYWAYS so Impa is like "Hey cool you're the hero, the princess got kidnapped and we need to go get her, come on" so they start following Cia's army and find Shiek, who is just Zelda, and who also does not tell anyone that they are Zelda.

Anyways I don't remember how most of this goes, but there's lots and lots of in fighting on Cia's side, it's delightful, no one is loyal and they're all selfish and or angry.

At some point Lana pops up to help team good guys, she helps collect other good guys, like Mida, Darauna, Ruto, Agitha, etc. At some point Midna punches Cia and knocks her mask off (Cia has a mask) and Midna is like "WOW HEY YOU HAVE THE SAME FACE AS LANA" and Lana is just like "hmmmmmmmmm yeah, I'm ashamed of it, but we're the same person" and then we move on

Meanwhile Cia is building her army, getting fun baddies like Ghirahim and Zant to side with her. It's great. Anytime Ghirahim and Zant are on screen is a good time.

Eventually Link gets the master sword and beats Cia with it, but it also turns out that was the last soul seal thing for Ganon. So he's alive again. So naturally, he takes over as the main baddie and discards Cia (so now there are three teams! Team goodies, team baddies, and team dysfunctional idiots)

Ghirahim and Zant are on Ganon's side now, Volga wants to 1v1 Ganon cause "ooooo strong guy", Wizzro wants to defect to Ganon's side (pretty sure Ganon told him no) everything is on fire, and Cia is dying because Ganon's soul was the only thing keeping her alive. So now she also wants him dead.

Lots of stuff happens, fun villain shenagins, Ganon dies, Ghirahim and Zant are pissed off and I thiiiiiink they just run away?? Don't remember. There's a delightful scene when the heroes are celebrating and Link and Zelda give eachother the look tm and Lana looks SO SAD about it. Like trying to smile but if you even tried to look at her she'd start sobbing.

Anyways Lana sends everyone back to their timelines but UHOH Toon. Ghost... Ganon?? Wants to fight so that's an issue, and Cia is fighting him too for reasons I do not recall. I'm pretty sure it's so she can live or something. Oh also she's a good guy now, everyone just had to sit down and talk it out. She's still dying btw.

Heroes kill Ghost Guy Ganon and I'm 99% sure that Cia and Lana merge back into one person again after sending everyone (again) to their respective time lines and then Seer goes back to magic seer land. I guess. That's Hyrule Warriorsssss!

i know this isn't really what you were talking about lskdkj but even just as a dynamic jercy pisses me off in canon bc rr clearly wanted them to be THE narrative foils of hoo but he didn't write in ANY nuance for them. like their dynamic is so built up as the leaders of their respective camps and opposite personalities and the different ways they go abt being Heroes but they r so boring and almost never interact... it's laughable comparing them to luke and percy in pjo who actually pulled off the Main Narrative Foils thing 😭

you're sooo right. i think it's because like riordan couldn't decide what to do with percy? he was meant to be a main character but also a side character. the lost trio was clearly set up to be The Focus Trio of the series-- they were all overpowered with little to no training the story began and ended with them and they were led by the Superman-eque Boy so u know it's meant to be about them

the reason luke and percy worked is because at some point luke saw himself in percy, just as percy saw a better future for himself in luke. they were similar in all ways but one- percy was guided predominantly by love and luke was guided predominantly by anger. the funny part about it is that luke did feel love at a very deep level, just as percy felt anger on a very deep level- it was what each character chose to act upon that made them different. that's a personality. that is what a narrative foil is meant to do: draw comparisons in character.

the percy/jason dynamic is so badly done because they aren't even friends. we don't actually see them as similar. sure, they fill in the same role at their respective camps: their lives may be symmetrical, but they themselves aren't that similar. are they both buried under responsibility? sure. but their core struggles are not even remotely the same. percy has already passed jason's current phase. he knows where he belongs, knows his role in the world, knows how to bear his burden. his problems come now from controlling the same flaws that he saw in LUKE, who remains a mirror to him despite being dead and gone. percy and jason aren't on the same journey!!

also this is a bit nit-picky, i know, but i find the whole 'jason is boring because he's a narrative foil to Interesting percy' SO so annoying lkjsdkfsjkf. first of all- i don't think characters who are straight-laced, morally inflexible, and tight lipped soldier types are boring. one dimensional, trope-filling characters are boring. jason didn't have to be a sarcastic quick witted impulsive lil shit to be fun! personally i don't think he's boring at all!! he's as full of wasted potential as any of the other hoo characters- they are all there to fill a role and be a trope. percy, annabeth, and nico are not exempt from it. a lot of what we know to be true about them are erased in hoo so that they will 'give space' to the new kids to fulfill their old role. it's so dumb and so offensive!!!

i'm sorry for talking so much, i'll wrap it up now but basically what i mean to say is: jason and percy don't work because jason is literally the lead while percy is reduced to comedic relief by the end. it's fine- not every stroy has to be centered around percy, but it makes drawing comparisons between them so cheap and tacky. they're not character foils. they're barely even in the same story. they're just two boys who kind of tolerate each other and pretend to be best friends with absolutely no explanation or chemsitry slkdjfklsdfj

Yuu and the sentient puppet

Basically the Puppet just appeared in Yuu's backyard at home

Now Yuu's just stuck with it

Then both of them gets transported to the twst world

(it basically looks like both a girl and a guy at the same time (or like epel, fyi) and their voice can switch from a girl to a boy multiple times (main voice is male voice))

Yuu's coffin get opened first, runs away bcuz grim chasing, Crowley went to fetch em, the ceremony and the reveal of the magicless thing all that happened and there's 1 more coffin to open

Which is the Puppet's coffin

It was opened, the puppet was confused, the students were confused with their looks, thinking they're gonna be sorted into pomefiore, and the ceremony proceeds again (oh since the robes are like, covering the whole body, they don't know it's a puppet

Apparently, the puppet has magic and was sorted to Heartslabyul

Hoo boy they're gonna get a lot of questioning from Yuu

Yuu's giving them a stink eye like: why u no tell me

And ofc for the story to work Crowley founds out both of them are somehow related to eachother and yeah their world didn't exist and such before sending the puppet back to the dorm and such (i can't write sense)

And they're like: dude i don't even know my magic applies here we're not from the same world (and pretty sure the "magic" in my world isn't the same)

Anyways cue to the Heartslabyul part where the stuff and rules and that, when the puppet took of their robes they were shook like

"ur not human?"

"nope, I'm just a lil puppet"

"cool"

They meet Ace, Ace thinks they're cool, be friends! Ayy

(oh and i heard that the Heartslabyul students get like the card symbols assigned to them, so after a few research thanks to someone in the dc server I'm in, deciced that a spade is suitable for this lil puppet)

To the next day where Yuu's just, doing some janitor stuff and like Ace and the puppet passes by, Ace saying he had a plan and proceeds to be friendly with Yuu and Grim, which the puppet thinks "oh! They're just being friendly, that's fine! Yuu need friend :D"

Then when those insults came in

"...woah. that's not rly nice >:("

Cue battle, grim burning the queen of hearts statue, Crowley panic, all of them get punished to wash 100 windows

Skippity skip skip skipppp

The trio waiting for Ace to show up, and he didnt

Went to chase him, meets Deuce, chandelier accident happens

Angry Crowley, him sending them to dwarfs mine and fetch a magic stone to cover up the expulsion

Cue dwarf mine scene, the ghost encounter, and them meeting the monster in the mines

Apparently Deuce is being stubborn when he heard about a stone being inside

Let me write a short badly written fic hehe (note, for the puppets talking, normal is them speaking in a feminine tone, and italic is them speaking in masculine tone)

"DEUCE, WAIT!"

"it's too dangerous for now, please wait, and we'll discuss about this!"

"no, we don't have enough time! I my school life is on the line!"

Deuce ran inside the mine to get the stone

The trio went to chase Deuce and they found the monster directly behind him, lifting it's pickaxe

When Deuce turned around, and when he saw it, he froze up with fear, closed his eyes and braced for the impact

It did not come. When he opened his eye, the monster's raised hand with the pickaxe was wrapped in some sort of thin but sturdy thread

"GET OUT OF THERE, QUICK!" He heard the puppet yell and does as said.

All of them managed to escape safely

"what were you thinking!? Charging in without a plan like that?"

"i.. i had no choice! I can't be expelled in the first day of finally coming to this school!"

"and oi, what was that just now!?" Ace asked, reffering to the puppet "and uh i didn't catch your name again"

Aight let's just skip this part

Basically they followed Yuu's plan, succeed, have to fight the monster, which the puppet just straight up summon a huge axe and smacked the monster

"welp that settles it i guess" -Yuu, done with their shit back home

Going back to nrc, Crowley getting emotional over some teamwork which Yuu and the puppet looks at him like: "ಠ_ಠ"

Now Yuu's a student... And a prefect!! Yay!!!

Grim's also a student!! Yay!! Happy happy all

Yuu is still not free from the responsibilities, and the puppet is either angry at Crowley, does not care, or both

I have a question: how do you feel about aubreyxsunny? Ik u like sunnflower (I do as well), but I was just curious. I dont really think it was done well within the game itself - all of the moments hinting torwards some kind of crush were mostly optional, so when at the end in the rain memory it turned out sunny had a crush on her, it really felt out of place for me and almost ruined that specific moment. There r more criticisms to be had about it honestly, so I wanted to see what u thought? Sorry if this ask is bothersome, feel free to ignore it if so

the plain and simple answer is: I don't like it. it just doesn't appeal to me or my tastes at all, and I agree that it wasn’t done well in the game.

now, for a more detailed response I'll leave it under the cut but if anyone reading this likes sunbrey you might want to look away-

like you said, I found the writing of their relationship so. poorly done if the goal was to have them be a romantic item. it was just messy and all over the place imo. I really feel you with that one scene in Memory Lane like. when I got there I was so pissed off I restarted the game just to play that scene again without reading that dialogue lmao. it just felt like a slap in the face after playing the entire game reading it as Sunny and Basil having feelings for each other

and it’s not even from an emotional reactionary standpoint either, it was just poor fucking writing. there are little moments in Headspace where Aubrey is shown to be a little infatuated with Omori, but like you said a lot of those were optional, and a lot of it I personally either read as platonic or didn’t think anything of. since real world Aubrey doesn’t show any kind of romantic feelings towards Sunny (until the last day but I’ll get to that can of worms,) it’s a widely accepted headcanon that Sunny was projecting his crush by having Aubrey like him in his dreams. I think that’s all well and fine but, going through the entire game there’s no context for Sunny/Omori having a crush on Aubrey, so the bit where it’s revealed he does comes out of fuckin’ nowhere. like.... Sunny had no qualms about slashing Aubrey with a kitchen knife and I’m expected to believe he was crushing on her. lol.

but yeah. the real beef I have with sunbrey’s writing is that it has no buildup whatsoever, and after spending the entire game letting the player believe that the narrative is about Sunny and Basil (platonic or romantic), it turns it all around and spends the last chapter ham-fisting sunbrey down the player’s throats. after Aubrey apologizes to the group and joins the party, a lot of the cutscenes and fluff dialogue are her being all blushy over Sunny for. some reason??? like “uuu Sunny I have to tell you something.... actually nevermind” or like the scene on the swings. I still like to view these as platonic but I’m sure that’s not the intention lol I’ve seen enough romcoms to know these tropes. and it all just felt like it all came out of nowhere so fast. bc like I said in the last paragraph, real world Aubrey didn’t show any romantic feelings towards Sunny 

in addition to that, there was this too-

“Aubrey: But... when the others were busy doing things... you always seemed to have time for me. You would listen to me talk for hours and hours... I could always rely on you to do that.”

which felt like the last bitter cherry on top for me, because it just comes out of nowhere. I’m just gonna copy and paste stuff I wrote in a different post about this- “… where was this, exactly? of course we know Sunny and Aubrey were close as kids, all of them were close with each other, but throwing this in when we haven’t seen that level of closeness at all between them in the entire game felt so superficial to me. we’re meant to suddenly act as if this was her and Sunny’s relationship all along but……… this was him and Basil. since the beginning of the game, and for the entire way through, that was what their relationship was shown to be as, and then OMOCAT wants me to believe that her and Sunny were always the closest out of nowhere. okay, sure.”

and I get that this is also in Sunny’s dream, so it could just be him projecting but that doesn’t really change the narrative framing of this scene! it’s all bundled up with the last couple hours of the game trying to force-feed this pairing down our throats and it’s just annoying to me lollll....

but. yeah. I think that’s most of what I have to say. all in all, even aside from the shitty writing, I just think these two as a romantic pair is. boring as all hell. it feels like every generic anime pairing to me dkfjghkjdfghk....
