Muttering another apology to you, he turned and started heading for his room on the top floor, dragging Oslo along with him by the hound’s ear. You sighed as you stepped into your room and examined the damage to your clothes. Everything was ruined. Diane walked up to stand next to you and winced at the sight. “Well that’s not good,” she mumbled before her eyes lit up with an idea. “I’ve got it!” She grabbed your arm and started pulling you down the stairs and into the pantry in the tavern’s kitchen. Letting go of you, she walked over to a large cupboard. Standing in front of the mirror, you looked at yourself in the outfit. Her eyes widen as she landed on hawk who snorted proudly.

“I’m a Hawk, captain of scraps disposal,” he said proudly.

“Nice to meet you hawk.” the young woman said giving him a tiny smile.

“Who are you?” Merlin asked raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms, of course, she going to be weary of random women just barging in.

“Oh, I’m y/n. I’m farmer girl.” The woman lied and held the cloak tightly around her body.

Merlin made a “hmpft” sound and walked out of the room leaving Meliodas and Ban alone.

I just lied to that woman, I couldn't tell them I’m a princess, What are they going to think?

They would come up with bad scenarios or worst send me back to the castle, where I’ll be locked up and won't be able to help Elizabeth or my family.

The young blonde boy stood in front of me, his eyes were calming and had an emerald green tint to them.

“I’m Meliodas, I own the tavern. Of course, you can stay here as long you need to” Meliodas boasted confidently and gave you a charming smile.

The shooting pain rose once again, you've kept the injuries to yourself.

Meliodas could sense something wrong with you, as he slowly pushed out his chair and move your cloak to see the damage all over your body.

I sensed something wrong, her body was tensing she was guarding herself or something else.

From what I can sense she seems to be trustworthy. She's also very pretty, ban has Elaine not physically but he loved her, he kept telling me that previous lovers and moping over them won't make me happy. I need to pick myself up and explore the world with new eyes.

I didn't think I would be starting my adventure with women barging into my tavern, looking ripped apart and needing our help.

Ever since Elizabeth decided it was time we spilt up and do what the goddess and demons asked, I didn't think I could love again.

But the ban has a point, I can't sit in self-pity forever.

But this woman feels like I've seen her before, I can't place where.

I gazed over her body, I tried not to look at her chest area. She appeared pretty injured and she had a long blood mark along her cheek.

She began to tense under my gaze covering her face.

He moved my cloak and looked at my body. I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, as he examined me.

I sat in silence then Meliodas spoke.

“Your pretty injured, and seems like you've had a crazy day” he spoke.

Nodding quickly and tears form around my eyes, I've never had to deal with this before. Elizabeth has had her fair share of adventures, but I thought I would never had flee as I did.

Meliodas stood up slowly and gave me another warm smile, and looked at Ban who leaning on the bar.

“Ban can give us a minute,” Meliodas asked starting at the other man.

Ban quirked his eyebrows and simply nodded leaving both of us in the empty bar room.

Meliodas turned back to me and kneeled down, he made eye contact and my breath hitched slowly.

“Princess y/n. Elizabeth’s younger sister. I can't believe it's you” he said.

Then my whole body froze and my eyes widen.

Meliodas knew when he first saw the cloak and long wavy hair, the colour of your hair and the way you presented yourself.

Elizabeth guided you and made sure you would be fit to rule over the kingdom, she wanted more than her father had planned, and in that, your father placed the burden on your shoulders.

Meliodas slowly pulled the cloak down and saw the princess, he knew when she was younger also.

He protected you and Elizabeth, he made sure you both were happy and had everything you needed in the castle.

Meliodas stood up slowly and turned away from me and looked out the window. He finally spoke again, “How is Elizabeth”

Now the tears began to fall dropping on the tavern floor.

“We got separated, and they locked her in the castle,” you said as the tears kept dripping from your eyes.

“I best go save her again”

Walking up the stairs, I opened the door to the boar hat, “I would like to have a nap, we’ve been out since this morning and haven’t caught anything.”

The night was dark. And yet you couldn’t find it in yourself to fall asleep. You had heard a conversation in the hallways earlier, and it had been stuck on your mind ever since. “Demons are so scary…” One had whispered to her friend. And she had answered, just as frightened, “I heard some of them have tricked humans into befriending them to kill them.” A third girl had joined in, but she didn’t seem afraid, she was disappointed by her friends, and by the humans. “That’s because humans are idiots. Who in their right mind could possibly believe that a demon would wanna talk to anyone else that isn’t a member of their race ?”

You felt the tears start to come up and threaten to spill and stain your cheeks. Was what they were saying true ? Did people truly find joy in making others suffer ? A sob broke through your mouth when one question found its place on your head. Is that what happened with Meliodas ? You ran, but it wasn’t fast enough, so you flew all the way to your apartments and locked yourself in your room to sob the sadness away. Now, a few hours later, you couldn’t fall asleep. So you decided to go outside for air. Elizabeth and your other fiends would scold you if they heard about it, but it was the only thing left to do. Your body unconsciously took you to the usual place where your meetings with your friend took place. You only realized where you were when your feet settled on the grass. You stayed there for a few minutes or maybe a few hours, you couldn’t really tell. Your head only raised when you heard a soft voice whisper your name, unsure of if it was really you in front of them. Your eyes met deep, black ones, who soon turned to their bright emerald. The cries you had succeeded in stopping came back up, surprising the demon. He leaped toward you, and delicately put his hands on your shoulders.

“Are you okay ? Why aren’t you sleeping ?” Your sobs got louder, and this time you pushed him away, making him fall on his back.

“Don’t do that ! Why’re you pretending like you care ? Shouldn’t you be hanging out with some other goddess, or maybe a fairy would do too right ?”

“What are you talking about ? I couldn’t sleep, so I came outside for air, that’s it.”

“Then go ! Go to fucking sleep, I don’t care ! Just leave me alone !”

“The first time we met you tried to kill me, and then you were just, so willing to be my friend ! What happened that made you change your mind ?” You raised your voice at him once more, but you didn’t yell, you just sounded infuriated.

“I thought you were right. I knew that the way goddesses see us isn’t the way we are, so I figured it was the same for you.” He blushed and his voice got so quiet it was almost inaudible. “And you seemed like you didn’t mean any harm.”

“You thought I looked nice ? And that’s why you were listening to me ? After killing thousands of goddesses ?” He flinched at your last question, but then spoke up, defeated.

“I got home after meeting you and realized no one had ever cared for my vision of things. You were the first one… the first one that seemed to care about what I really had to say.” You stopped breathing for a moment, but when you started again, you started wailing. Your first real friend, the first one that wasn’t forced by your mother to remain by your side, you had tried to get rid of them. Soon, you felt strong arms embracing you, so you snuggled closer to Meliodas’ chest and wrapped your arms around his waist.
