Remember: Your Art Is Radical (yes, even that one)
Realizing that this isn’t common knowledge, so I’m here to spread this message as far as I’m able. I’m sitting here, working on my fanfic right now and fretting over the fact I need to properly portray book burnings. Then kind of realized a methodology for rebellion which isn’t often used to its full potential.
Your art is political - yes, even that one. Even your Shrek Fanart and Bionicles meta-analysis. Fanworks are seen as vapid and purely derivative throughout many circles, and therefore aren’t going to be put to the test on world criticism like many other forms of media. Good. Use that!
Remember that fandoms consist of a variety of people from different backgrounds, races, and cultures, all of which can be educated off of one another. No one is going to be aware of all the different elements of Human Justice, and we can learn a lot from each other. Art itself is an act of politic because for many if not most of us alive, our existence itself is political. And, as funny as it is to imagine that the government is going to read through 12,000,000 pages of Erotic Harry Potter Fanfiction, that’s not a likely reality.
Fanart is a much more covert way of examining current events which can and WILL be capable of helping shift tides. Remember: you were drawn to that media for a reason; may be passive enjoyment, may be something deeper. Fanart is a form of creation which is safer, as it won’t be heavily monitored or scrutinized (both because it can’t be and most older folks aren’t super aware of it). It goes under their radar. Help bigoted nerds unlearn what they’ve been taught, because knowledge is the enemy of bigotry. Even one fic or one piece of art will have a ripple effect and encourage others to create their own.
For those with degrees, I encourage you to add elements of scholarly queer studies and disability aid in your worldbuilding. Disabled people, show, not tell how different means of mobility function and the history which has been repeatedly hidden from us. Expound what knowledge you have, and capitalize. Write characters of different racial backgrounds & culture shock when their societies meet. Draw acts of defiant historical violence in your OTPs and add in the source of the event. This is not derivative: it’s using one media source to explain a narrative. Simply adding in elements of your shared experience or coding different parts of literary theory into your work in a more digestible manner is already letting others see your depiction of the world.
I mean this full-heartedly: your creation is an act of defiance no matter what form it takes. Doesn’t matter if you’re “a bad artist” or “not a good writer.” Your experience is unique and not only deserves to but NEEDS to be shared more than ever. So if you’ve always wanted to write that deep feminist She-Ra work or Warrior cats analysis on systematic ableism, the time is now.

Phoning a Friend
Warriors watches the two Champions blearily, forcing his eyes to stay focused on them. He knows one is the Shadow but he can’t let himself entertain the possibilities of who the other one is. For now, he has to think of it nothing more than another potential enemy.
The one with the odd spear that gleams gold, its green gem ornaments clinking softly against the shaft as he twirls it, keeps himself between Warriors and the twisted Champion. The golden spear spins and spins, batting away a sickening dark blade every time the bloodstained, withered Champion tries to break through his guard.
Watching the spinning spear is actually making Warriors feel nauseous. Well, he mentally amends that to ‘more nauseous’, glancing down at the blood spreading across his tunic.
And this weird noise, whatever it is, isn’t helping! There’s something heavy weighing the clearing down, pressing into Warriors’ skin.
All he can hear is this pulsing loud tick tick tick in his ears, accompanied by an odd warping sensation in his limbs.
It’s magic, he knows that much, but he’s never felt it before and has no idea which Champion it may be coming from, if it even is either of them casting the spell.
He turns his head to spit out a mouthful of blood and it feels like the movement takes an eternity to complete.
So either his blood loss is more severe than he thought, or there’s something else going on.
The spear-wielding Champion darts backwards, his grip along the spear finally shifting into a proper stance, grinning wildly.
Ha, Warriors is hilarious.
A large shining gem sitting at the dip of the first Champion's throat lights his face up from below, all deep shadows and softened edges. He’s breathing heavily, a slight tremble visible in his fingers as he readjusts his grip.
The other Champion across from them makes a sweeping gesture with its withered arm and something red and alive spurs into life, lunging forward. The shape twists, absorbing what remains of the rotted flesh, and large, monstrous fingers stretch into existence. They reach through the darkness for the first Champion, wicked under the moonlight.
The first Champion raises the spear slightly in response, his grin vanishing as it's smothered under a blank, smooth expression that Warriors refuses to recognise. The fingers, the vile magic, get closer to his face, closing the distance rapidly—
And Time shoots out of the bushes, the Biggoron sword catching the moonlight as it arcs through the air and severs the arm from withered Champion's body. The arm hits the ground and melts into a writhing pool of furious magic, thrashing around that Champion’s feet.
The ticking in Warriors’ ears stops so abruptly he's thrown off-kilter, reeling at the sudden silence left in its wake.
Time glances at him, a quick look filled with concern and worry, then shifts his gaze to the spear-wielding Champion — Wild, Warriors lets himself finally acknowledge.
Dozens of micro-expressions fly rapidly across Time's face before he finally decides on grim determination.
“That,” he says in an almost wobbly tone of voice, taking up stance next to Wild, “is loud.”
“Yeah, I’ve been told. Sorry about that.” Wild agrees, still focused on the withered copy of himself standing in front of them. He shoots Time a small grin, barely there but blindingly obvious if you know what to look for. “Worked though.”
Time lets out a quiet huff of laughter, his own small smile twitching across his face. He shifts, sword held tightly in both hands. "You're definitely not wrong about that, Wild. When we get back to camp, you'll have to tell me how you managed to make your magic even louder than it already was."

Fic prompt
Since Khan and Nori don’t have wedding rings, Copper-9 drones likely don’t have the same traditions for marriage that Earth drones do.
Point being is that N proposes to Uzi using the traditional Earth method of getting down on one knee with a ring and Uzi doesn’t understand what he’s doing.
N explains it to her, and Uzi, who feels bad about ruining the moment, proposes back using the Copper-9 method.
Write about traditional Copper-9 proposals and weddings.

i NEED to just lay in bed with vulpes and like. exist near him. I NEED HIM TO AWKWARDLY HOLD ME
Some thoughts because I agree. This is like, unnecessarily fluffy.:
The first few times you fuck him, it's definitely a quick and dirty affair, motivated more by your own desire for release than any affection towards him. Well, and you were attracted to him, but that was a secret you'd take to your grave (and not the one you clawed your way out of, either). He seemed to know it anyway without you telling him.
But then, something shifted.
Maybe it was just because you were hiding from some Deathclaws in a tiny shack with a twin-sized bed but that night, when you pulled him to you, you whispered (only because of the aforementioned Deathclaws, not because you were suddenly feeling very shy about what you were asking him to do) against his skin, asking him to hold you.
You were fairly certain he'd never actually done that before, if the stiff way he wrapped his arm behind you and lay like a board beside you was any indication of his experience.
Of course, after a few minutes of that, he began to relax slightly, his quiet and measured breath lulling you to sleep.
You woke up with him wrapped around you tightly, like he was afraid you were going to up and leave him in the middle of the night (which you had done, in the beginning, though he was always quick to find you again)
He would deny this. And then probably call you a profligate liar.
But he also did this almost every time you shared a bed, so. Someone's lying and it's not you.

writing in an au is so fun cause sometimes you get hit with something SO CANON like "percabeth hosts capture the flag with their entire wedding party when they all arrive for the wedding" that you have to pivot and rework the entire back half of the fic just to make that happen

alright, friends, it's time for a lil heart-to-heart.
for quite a while now, i've struggled with feeling like the rpc is an actual community. there's a few things that contribute to this feeling, but it mostly comes down to a lack of interaction and visible interest. sometimes i feel very one-sided in my interest and attachment to my mutuals bc when i see their ooc posts or headcanons, i like them or comment, yet this isn't reciprocated by everyone. i can usually guess who i'm about to see in my notifications, and to be absolutely clear, i'm very grateful for those people!! it's a handful or two of you, but it could be just one and i'd be grateful. it's not about numbers whatsoever but rather growing uncomfortable that not all of my mutuals are all that interested in my character or me.
i write on here to share the excitement of creating with other people. i write on here to create together, too, but i'm also here to share characters and ideas and lore with people i know are happy to hear me ramble. i'm just getting to the point in which i'm questioning how many of you are actually happy to listen, and that's just not a good feeling at all. i'm not a mind reader, y'all. if you don't tell or show me that you care about the things i talk about or even about interacting, there's no way for me to know. eventually, i'm going to question why you're following me if i never see or hear from you, and eventually, i'm going to softblock and move on. that's the only way forward i see right now because i just do not feel comfortable on my own blog. i feel like i'm retreating into this quiet bubble to avoid discomfort, and it really sucks. it's killing my muse.
i'm not perfect. none of us are, and we can't be online at all times to catch every little post. but if we're a community, then we should be supporting each other when we can and liking headcanons, liking/commenting on those lil ooc posts that remind us our writing partners are humans with lives outside this site, reblogging their promo posts, sending in that meme they've reblogged even if we're nervous to reach out first -- if we're a roleplaying community, then we need to act like it. " community " implies connection, and a connection doesn't really begin when you follow each other. it begins when you reach out, even if it's in some small way.
tldr: i think we can all do better to support our mutuals and to connect, and i'm going to softblock people rather than continue to feel unsure where i stand with my mutuals. i won't start until sometime next week, and i won't make one of those " like this to remain mutuals " posts. they're not helpful to me, if i'm honest. if you're worried, just reach out. i'm literally a 4'9'' gremlin who sleeps with a m.unchlax plushie -- i promise i'm not scary despite this post uvu

Funny how when you physically/emotionally/materially punish people for doing/getting something wrong, usually they develop a fear of being wrong and thus don’t know how to accept being wrong, how to make up for it, or grow as a person.
If you’ve told a person that their only options are to be right, or to be wrong and die, then they treat being right as a means of survival, being told they’re wrong as a threat to their safety and that there is no improving after being classed as wrong.
They become afraid of being wrong, convinced they can’t be wrong if nothing bad is happening to specifically them, and they do not know any methods to improve the situation outside of self punishment.
Proper conflict resolution skills are so vital.

No not everybody can do everything. "Of course I didn't mean disabled people when I said that" how do you know who is or isn't disabled. How do you know what kind of disability they have. How do you know that the person you're admonishing for "clearly not trying" isn't a few years away from being diagnosed.
Actually, more people should share things with newbies, people who don't have the spoons to learn a new skill, people who don't have the time to learn a new skill, people who have a learning disability, people who have a physical disability, kids, old people who can't connect with the way young people explain technology, and so on.
Don't give me "you're not a real digital artist if you don't know how to create your own brushes and only rely on ones other people have shared" because it's bullshit. Don't give me "you're not a real singer if you don't know how to compose". God forbid different people have different skillsets. God forbid different people have different expectations for themselves. God forbid people have fun with what is accessible to them and don't turn it into a lesson.
