"@thearthistorianblogoffa Who the fuck cares if you're European, you dumb bourgeoise cow? I think Bach sounds like shit and most of the idiots who go on about him are just pretending to be intellectual with the least amount of effort. You want to look smart for real? Go read Republic by Plato like I have several times over, and then read something by Nietzsche as well as Aristotle, Leo Tolstoy, Steinbeck, Woolf, etc., you uneducated middle-class dumbfuck. You're lazy, and your taste is shit if you think Robert/Clara Schuman are better than their more talented successor, Brahms. And if I want to listen to something spiritual for Christmas that doesn't make me hate the shit out of Christianity or Christians? Then I'm listening to Gustav Mahler instead of Bach, because Mahler is a man who knew how to express his spirituality in music in a way that doesn't remind me of Trump, Nazis, etc. Unlike Bach, Mahler doesn't make me hate "Christians" like you & Trump, idiots who're just overrated sociopaths pretending to be religious so they can use it to excuse their classist bigotry and racism. If you think Bach is a better representation of spiritual gratitude and enlightenment than Gustav Mahler, then you're even more ignorant and close-minded than I originally conceived you to be. In other words, Miss Stuck-Up Middle-Class DumbCow, you can kiss my working class feminist ass. Working class people have a goddamn right to enjoy Mozart and The Beatles without having to go through the gatekeeper shit that is fucking "Bach". They don't need you trying to shame them because they don't want to appreciate the classist trash that is Bach. Fuck you for using Bach to gatekeep classical music from working class Europeans and Americans! Working class people want to listen to Beethoven and The Beatles, NOT your fucking shitty "genius" Bach. So I suggest you get over it, get over yourself, and stop acting like the fucking Queen of France with your mouth full of cake. Suck my proletariat ass!"
Thats my dear friends from america some of the reason Europeans do not take you seriously!
We just can't take you seriously with your inferiority complexes, you bad education System, your bad health System , your problems gun violence!
I am not talking about all the americans, y you know if you don't have to feel attacked.
For the Rest of you sorry , call me arogant or bigoted, a classist. I do not mind, you can not covince me overwise.

"Violence only leads to more violence" TRUE! The thing is tho, a lot of people in power seem to think the start of the violence was the CEO getting shot, but they're wrong. The start of the violence was that very CEO running a company that turns immense, endless human suffering into money.
Violence did lead to more violence, decades of needless death and suffering willfully enacted by millionaires so they can make just a little bit more money, that was the start of the violence. If they didn't want it to escalate eventually, they should have maybe not made killing people the core functionality their entire company hinges on.
The people being tortured and killed by the health insurance industry are not the ones who started the violence, and tbh I don't really think it's on them to end the violence, either.
#I think people need to stop treating this as just some like...random middle class doctor getting offed#and more like a guy who has more influence and money and power than like half the politicians in this country getting assassinated#because he's making bank running a machine that kills people

Wealth can be so hard to move away from, even when it isn't your wealth.
I was an upper-middle-class nepo-baby. My first job was working at a bar my mom frequented, because she knew the owner and could get me a job. My third job was working at the insurance company she worked at, and my fourth was at a bank whose hiring manager she was friends with - Something I did not know until after I'd gotten the job, when I was specifically trying to move away from her influence.
I'm a high-school drop-out. My career was born out of nepotism. My mom always used to tell me that her long-term plan for me was to get super-rich so I could buy her a mansion to retire into. This is something I'll never fully be able to move away from. The job I have now I earned "on merit", but those merits are skills and experience and a hirable resume that I cultivated in my nepo-jobs. That I don't really deserve my career is something I have to live with.
My mom's never gotten over that I eventually left Corporate America to work for a non-profit. Or that I'm using the paycheck to sustain an LGBT household consisting of my best friend and their wife, one of whom suffers from severe mental illness the government refuses to pay for. The other of whom has never gotten above "retail worker" because she wasn't born into wealth and is also an Asian woman instead of a (visibly, at least) clean-cut white male. She doesn't have HR Interview Face.
Honestly, I'd love to quit and let someone more deserving take my spot. I would love to be, like, a YouTube content creator or something. But then my family would lose our shitty, overpriced little apartment and starve. My nepo-career is what pays the rent and puts food on our table, so I remain handcuffed to a path I don't deserve and don't even want anymore.
While my mom holds our finances over my head. She calls my family "freeloaders" and keeps trying to convince me to dump all this and come sell insurance for her so I can follow her up a ladder I know is designed only for me. She swears it's not, that she just recognizes my incredible skill and talents, but when pressed, she cannot actually describe a single thing I do.
(And what I do has nothing to do with selling insurance. I don't even like insurance. It's a parasitic industry with hooks in the government using legislation to force our economy to embrace exploitation of the poor. Literally a protection racket, made mandatory in multiple economic areas because no one would buy into it if it wasn't. My mom is so proud because she excelled at exploiting the vulnerable.)
All the while she could, if she really wanted to, use her wealth to open those doors for us as a whole. It would take pocket change for her to give us the leg up we need to get Bestie medicated and their wife in college and allow me to transition into a job I actually want and deserve. But she's a libertarian, you see, and she "doesn't believe in hand-outs".
No, the irony is not lost on me.
So we're just trapped.
As a kid, when your parents are poor, you're poor. If they don't have money, that means none of you have money. But if someone's parents are rich, that doesn't necessarily mean the kid is. Sometimes rich peoples' kids aren't rich kids, they're just some rich freak's exotic pets that can talk but aren't allowed to.

Save us all from Satan’s clown: Why Terrifier 3 is the Christmas gift for our time
"As the seasonal sluice opens to drown us in tone-deaf feel-good content once more, Terrifier 3 might just help to keep us sane... ish."
So much has been said of the Terrifier franchise’s ‘glow-up’, moving from a rough-around the edges labour of love with a budget under $55,000, to more polished $2 million production for its latest outing. But the very best of the box office juggernaut that is Terrifier 3 comes when it doesn’t concern itself with the trappings of conventional narrative cinema at all – subverting Yuletide…

Duke spent all his childhood and most of his teenage years in a middle class family, so I like to think that he carried these habits into his rich life as well.
Example 1:
Duke: who the fuck is wasting our water? Do you know how expensive the bill will be next month?
Tim: Do you know that even if we had opened all the taps in the manor, Bruce would still have no problem paying for them for at least the next ninety years?
Duke, closing the faucet: yeah, what's your point?
Example 2:
Duke: It's literally a rip-off! Six dollars for a fucking yogourt?! Nah, let's go Cass, bet I can find an analog for three.
Cass, handing him the hundred dollar bill that Bruce gave them to buy two yogourts (he didn't know the price and just hoped that it was enough): ?
Duke, dragging her out of the store: It's a principle now, let's go.
Example 3:
Dick, accidentally dropping his phone: oopsie-
Duke, without thinking: of course, go on and break it. We are all billionaires here, aren't we?
Dick, pretty much confused: well, technically…
Duke: I see you, victim of capitalism.
He also constantly turns off the lights when someone leaves the room for more than 0,5 seconds, because it pisses him off.
#he still pirates his stuff btw#because you can take a man out of the middle class#not the middle class out of a man#batman#batfam#batfamily#duke thomas

To a virtuous cycle of investing in the workers!

A consumer economy needs consumers with better salaries.
Building and maintaining the middle classes is virtuous. Worker solidarity is virtuous.

Hellebore has two sides
One can cure the other can kill this is a short comment on the mega mentality of an Ann Coulter. Just when you think the display of human degradation can go no lower miraculously you find it has no bottom. This is what makes me want to send a bouquet of hellebore to Anne coulters door. This flower so beautiful to look at and often looked upon by those of faith as a miracle cure also has another…

If one were to count to a million, one number per second, it would take, 11 days, 13 hours, 46 minutes and 40 seconds, that is if you continuously count all 11 and half days without rest.
If one were to count to a billion, one number per second, it would take 31.7 years, if you were to count 24 hours a day. Yet if you were undertaking this you’d need to sleep occasionally. If you were to count 16 hours a day, leaving room to sleep, it would take you roughly 48 years.
There’s a thousand millions in a billion, a million millions in a trillion, a thousand billions in a trillion.
There was a point in time where both Bezzos and musk net worth was nearly a trillion dollars. If they wanted to count just one billion of those dollars by hand it would take them 48 years to accomplish.
Elon musk makes $8 million a day from government subsidies, this is prior to him eliminating any competitors from the inside with doge. The average senior, who busted their butts for 50 years paying into their social security, Medicare, state and federal taxes, makes $65 a day.
The absurdity of it all is staggering. That these men who found their niche in business, bezzos with an online bookstore, right as the internet was taking off, and musk who’s father exploited black South Africans in his jewel mines, gave Elon the capital to invest in PayPal, to which he sold, bought an existing electric car company, used the carbon credits, and federal incentives, to make hundreds of billions of dollars, both pay the bare minimum in taxes, with Tesla paying nothing 3 out of the last 5 years. You and I, people who sometimes have to scrounge change to put gas in the tank, who struggle to pay for housing, groceries, insurance, try to enjoy life, we pay almost 40% of our income to taxes, social security and Medicare/medicaid.
How the f*ck is that acceptable!? Let alone celebrated?! You think these ultra rich know what it’s like to have to make decisions on whether hey can afford lunch or if that needs to go into the gas tank to get to work to pay to live?! WTF?!
Greed, selfishness, arrogance, these are the fuel that feeds the fire that leaves the middle class stuck, struggling and frustrated. But they have convinced so many that it’s the political opposition that is the cause of their inability to get ahead, or immigrants, of people of color, or trans people, gay people, stoking division to continue hoarding wealth like some sick addiction.
There’s not an infinite amount of capital in the U.S. economy. There’s only X amount. If these greedy robber barons stockpile the majority of it, that leaves a minuscule amount for the rest.
24 hours a day counting one number per second, it would take 32 years to count 1/200 of Bezzos and musk’s fortune.
TAX THE RICH!!!!

whenever right wing people talk about “parental rights” they are talking about property rights. they are arguing for further political and legal enshrinement of their children as their literal actual property
#I also wonder if this is like a middle class expression of a desire to shore up other property rights eg homeownership#like homeownership is a foundation base for the nuclear family. property rights allow you to own the resource#that produces the family and allows it to be ‘private’#so like children are another frontier of this property relationship#anyway. bad time to be a trans person lol#& all the actual legitimate issues w/ parental rights ie indigenous genocide forced sterilisation mass incarceration the foster system etc#are not even remotely concerns for these people because well. they’re fash lol

I know I'm a wholeass adult with a house and a law degree and whatever but sometimes I decide its time to not cook and I get out the little sandwich press and turn a whole bag of bread into PBnJ uncrustables and honestly it's great
#fun fact: uncrustable is just pb n j with pb thinly on both pieces of bread with jelly in the middle#stuck into the bread ravioli press which you can get for like ten bucks online#there's noting special that makes them freeze good#it's all regular ingredients#and it tastes like college when i had work until 4 am and classes at 8am#aaahhh the good old days#real uncrustables are over a dollar each so you know the economy is in shambles#got a gallon bag of these suckers in the freezer and i just grab em. life is okay actually
