Okay so Avatar shrines are the exception. Still wild. Aang having weird gender feels after becoming & being possessed by a strong avatar lady is my headcanon now!
Tumblr media
I know I’m overthinking it, but couldn’t they just make or find a small mobile avatar shrine & take it with them everywhere?? I mean we see something like that in Zuko’s ship in his room. 👀 I mean I’d rather see Aang figure out his power on his own & with his friends, but I figure I would bring that up again. Just carry around an emergency fuck you button basically. Lmao

The Confrontation in Les Mis (or Authority Gains Its Power as the chapter is called in the book) is such an interesting scene to me because so many adaptations present it in a way that I can’t decide if it’s wrong or just strange. Various adaptations add an element of physical aggression to it that is not present in the original scene. Essentially my problem with that is that I find it unnecessary. Exactly what any violence could communicate in this scene could easily be communicated without it. More specifically, it could be communicated more artfully without violence.
What’s intriguing about this scene is the power dynamic between Valjean and Javert and how it shifts throughout. It starts with Javert in complete control, not because he could physically overpower Valjean (which he couldn’t), but because he has the law on his side. It is fully within his rights to arrest a lawbreaker. He mostly maintains this control of the scene through the authority given to him by the government. But when control briefly shifts to Valjean, it isn’t gained through actual violence. True, he threatens Javert, but that’s the extent of it. We know he’s been able to fend off Javert because he is able to give himself a moment to address Fantine. Nothing else was required to communicate this. Additionally, a threat of violence from Valjean is intimidating enough on it’s own partially because he uses this tactic so sparingly.
Portrayals of violence in media have a very straightforward purpose, to show how an attacker gains power of someone else, even if that power is short lived. But that power is represented very plainly by physical strength, meaning that it doesn’t always effectively portray other implications and nuances of a situation. But whether this is the case for violence in Les Mis or not, I mostly don’t like it for its lack of subtlety. It often feels like action for the sake of action rather than because it would genuinely portray the themes of power and authority better. It ups the stakes to some extent, but not in a way that’s especially meaningful. The stakes of the scene were already high enough, in my opinion.
I’m gonna see if I can sum this is up succinctly. If you ask me, when a scene already effectively deals with themes of power, there is no reason to add an element that involves those themes but only in a more visceral and frustratingly straightforward way.

having thoughts about what makes an interesting idol rhythm game
#i can expand upon it but i think its mostly like. what's the gimmick it's using and how is it executing it#like enstars you have the 3d mvs that you can put whoever you want in and have different outfits to put them in#d4dj you have the dj booth layout that you play with and it utilizes it very well#hypmic is a rap based game entirely and also utilizes record scratching imagery in its gameplay#and then proseka and bandori. proseka's gimmick is very obviously like vocaloids#but in the game play its trying to be too many things and failing at all of them#they have some 3d mvs but the layout of the beat maps makes them like#not really. something i notice when i played it. bc the way they have the map layout set up it kinda grays out the video#which means you might as well not have it on. for enstars the lanes are entirely transparent#so you can see the mv clearly as you play if you have 3d mv on u know#and then like. idk the proseka gameplay just feels brutal.#mostly because it times when you lift off the hold notes and literally no other game does this#even games that use goods as combo breakers like hypmic dont fucking do that#also i do appreciate the flick notes in hypmic being just. flick whereever feels natural#helps a lot while playing to just flick whichever way you want#but anyway yeah i think proseka is relying too much on the vocaloid schtick and people just ignore the atrocious game play#like d4dj does straight lane better. hypmic and enstars are both ring lanes that do their gimmicks well#i do not like proseka can u tell#i didnt play enough bandori to really tell u whats going on there but i did not like the layout for their game#and its made by the same people who make proseka so like. no hope for me getting into it#anyway#shay speaks

AU where, after Pizzasim, Henry finds that he's come back as Evan's Fredbear plush in a new universe. He has to try and set things right from there, to save all the children from the threats that loomed...
Including himself, and everything he turned a blind eye to.

I’m just annoyed by AFO, one of the worst characters and he’s the Big Bad. His main body should’ve died against Endeavor so we wouldn’t have to waste so much time with him.
I agree that Hori really didn't need to drag out OG AfO's death. I think he wanted to give All Might and Bakugou a Heroic Moment/Win but it came at the coast of pacing and AfO feeling really redundant. I mean I love All Might and I do think he needed a little bit of a moment before the end of the story but depending on how the story ends it could have possibly been left to his vestige+emotionally helping Izuku.
As for Bakugou getting his moment, again depending on how things go, could have been left for after Shigaraki gets fully possessed, with him teaming up with Izuku.
Because we're still not done with the story I can't say for sure, but I'm a little annoyed that OG AfO wasn't killed by Enji+Dabi. At the moment it seems like if/when Hori redemes the core LoV it will be last minute in a friendship is magic/breaking Shigaraki out of AfO's mind control thing. I'm not a huge fan of that and do wish that Dabi would have helped bring down AfO with Enji and Shoto. He still could have been cheering Shigaraki on from the sidelines to help bring him back, but it would have been the first step in showing he was starting to choose something for the greater good over killing his family for revenge.
It also would have given Enji, Shoto, Hawks and the other UA students that fought him more of a win, while also fitting in with the todofam subplot.

Like my standards for what constitutes "good" gameplay is somewhat skewed because i'm used to older games or indie games with a much lower qol but I find that part of the fun sometimes. I mean i love a good VN too and those hardly have any "gameplay" save for choices in dialogue, but when that's done well that's all I need

bears mentioning again even though it's literally one of the FIRST things written in my pinned post that if you see ANY fandom post on my blog, i almost always DO NOT tag spoilers for those fandoms.
SO THIS IS ANOTHER DISCLAIMER! be careful scrolling through fandom tags on my blog (or even following me at all!) if you're unspoiled for certain titles and want to get into them blind.
"how could you ruin someone else's experience" sucks if you didn't read my pinned post but that's on you. i put a disclaimer up there. you will see untagged spoilers here.
"it's rude not to tag when someone asks" i tag trigger warnings as asked. actually i even tag spoilers on my original fandom posts. i am not, however, going to wrack my brains over what counts as a spoiler when i reblog other people's fandom posts.
tl;dr if untagged spoilers on fandom reblogs are an absolute dealbreaker then don't follow me or scroll through my blog. bye

Not a big fan of women’s outdoor wear being form fitting. I do not need the mosquitoes to see my succulent thighs flex as I walk. Let me be formless and shapeless.
