A = Activities. What are their favourite things to do with you?

Steven often asks what you want to do, happy to go along with anything you wanted - even if it was something as simple as going to do a food shop, he was more than happy to come along. He had been dreaming of someone to share his time with for so many years now, that even the little things are fantastic for him. Evenings tend to go with you both cuddled up either in bed or on the sofa, Steven flicking through the tv until he finds something for you both to watch but eventually you end up reading a book or falling asleep.

B = Baby. Do they want a family? Why/Why not?

In his head he’ll always imagine having a home with you, a couple of kids running around as you live a pretty simple, domestic life. Him coming home after work to a warm house and loving family fills his heart with joy every time he thinks about it. But then he’s dragged back down by his other thoughts, questioning his own abilities and decides maybe it's best to not have kids as he’s not sure what kind of parent he would be. Steven would constantly flip between wanting and not wanting kids.

C = Cuddle. How do they cuddle?

As long as your pressed together as much as possible, he’s happy. Although him having his head on your chest as you both lay in bed reading a book is basically heaven to him.

D = Dates. What are dates with them like?

At the start they’re very traditional. Going out for dinners, ending the night with him walking you home - always making sure to buy you some flowers or some chocolates. But as time went on, you would start to go to museums or just have movie nights at home.

E = Everything. You are my ____ (e.g. my life, my world…)

You are the love of my life.

F = Feelings. When did they know they were falling in love?

Steven is a man who falls hard and fast for a person. He knew it was love on your second date as he gushed about his workday, how he’s still trying to become a tour guide even though his boss keeps telling him it would never happen. He then went on to spurt out all of his knowledge about Egyptology and his love for it. He was a little nervous, so he kept rambling on and on and didn’t realise until you started to ask questions, watching him and genuinely interested about what he was saying. Although you were interested in it, you were more loving watching how passionate he was being about the topic. After about an hour of him rambling and you asking follow-up questions, he switched the topic of what you’re most interested in. Just like you, he adored how your eyes lit up when you spoke your passion. It was a look he loved with all his heart.

G = Gentle. Are they gentle? If so, how?

Oh my days he is so gentle. Almost like if he holds you too tightly, you’ll break. He’ll run his hands down your side as you cuddle, leaving a trail of goosebumps. His head resting on your chest as he listens to your heartbeat. The only time he’ll basically grip on to you is in his sleep. He’ll have his arms wrapped around you, pulling you into his chest as if he’s afraid you’ll slip away in the night.

He’s also gentle in the way he talks to you. Even in arguments, Steven would never ever yell at you. Yeah, he may get frustrated and a little sarcastic, but would never yell. 

H = Holding Hands. How do they like to hold hands?

Interlocked fingers, maybe absentmindedly swinging them as he walks along.

I = Impression. First impression/ how you met.

You were taking a tour around the museum with a couple of friends when you met Steven. It ended at the gift shop, your friends having a quick browse before deciding there was nothing of their interest, but you were tourn between a couple of things. Your friends left, saying they’ll meet you outside and that's when Steven came over to help out a customer, just like any other day. But as you looked up to him, a smile on your face as you explained you liked both of the things you were holding but only had enough money for one, asking for his opinion on which was better, Steven found himself staring a little more than he would like to admit. He could tell you were kind and couldn’t help himself when he said you could take one of the items with no extra cost. He would definitely get in trouble for it but seeing the smile on your face as you kept repeating your thanks, it was worth it. The next day you came in again, heading straight to the gift shop with some cash to give to Steven for the free item he gave you the day before.

J- Jealousy. Do they get jealous often/easily?

Not very often but every once in a while, he’ll have a bit of a jealous fit. You noticed it tended to come on when his sleep has been worse than usual, making him pretty hard to deal with sometimes. The latest time was when you met Steven at the museum to join him on his lunch break, he noticed you were talking to a couple security guards as you waited. In his mind you were smiling a little too much and they were laughing a little too hard at your jokes. But he won’t come out and say to you what's wrong though. Steven in more of a bubble up in silence type. Eventually you’ll coax him into telling you what's wrong and that's when all his jealousy mixed with insecurities come tumbling out of his mouth.

K = Kiss. How do they kiss?

Most of the time he would start with holding your chin between his finger and thumb, gently brushing his lips with your lips. But when you chased his lips as he would pull away, he would go back in. Moving both of his hands to the back of your neck, holding you in place. His kisses weren’t dominating at all but were always extremely passionate.

L = Love. Who says ‘I love you’ first?

You do, although Steven had been thinking it basically since your second date. He knew what he felt, but his inexperience in dating meant he wasn’t sure when the right time to say it would be. Although the moment you told him you loved him, he told you he loved you too every second he got.

M = Memory. What’s their favourite memory together?

The day you agreed to move in with him is certainly a treasured memory. You had been sleeping over constantly, neither of you wanting you to go back to your own place. Steven had even got rid of some of his stuff to make room for your own. One day when you had finally run out of your own clothes and had to head back to your own place for just a night or two, Steven had a sudden idea! 

“What if you just brought all your stuff over here? I could clear out some more space, y’know. So, you don’t have to go back...”

“Are you asking me to move in with you?” You asked, a huge smile creeping its way onto your face. Steven instantly felt more confident after seeing your reaction. 

“Yeah! Move in with me? Please?”

N = Nickel. Do they spoil? Do they buy the person they love everything?

He hasn't got much money to spend on you but that doesn’t stop him from trying his best. Steven will get you flowers once a week, whether it be cheap lilies or expensive roses. He also often tries to make you little things himself - dinners, gift cards, photo books etc to show his love.

O = Open. When would they open up and telling you things about themselves?

Steven admitted his sleeping issues on your third date. He wanted to make sure he let you know about it and how sometimes, his body must be so desperate for sleep that he sleeps through an entire day - the only explanation he can think of for why days seem to just disappear for him. He was terrified of the thought that he would miss a date with you and make you think he stood you up. Thankfully that didn’t happen until you had already been dating for a long time, at which point you knew Steven well enough to know it was a complete accident. 

Other than that Steven has always been a pretty open book with you. Loving having someone he can share things with. At the start he had a little bad habit of over-sharing but thankfully you thought that was pretty cute.

P = Petnames. What petnames do they use?

Most of the time its love but occasionally it will be darling.

Q = Quiz. How much would they remember about thier partner?

Steven, our sweet boy, would remember every single little thing. From how you liked your coffee in the morning to that Christmas present you hinted you wanted six months ago.

R = Rainy Day. How would they spend their rainy day off with you?

Steven is a sucker for a good cuddle. Money is a little tight so instead of turning the heating on during cold, raining winter days, he would opt to have you cuddled against him, a thick blanket over the two of you as you both read your own books. It would be silent except for the storm outside that would often lull Steven into a much-needed sleep, head resting on your shoulder as you ran your hand through his hair.

S = Sad. How do they cheer themselves up?

He still tends to struggle to explain his emotions sometimes. He may begin to try and explain but gets frustrated he can't communicate it properly. So instead, you got him a diary, hoping he may find it easier that way. He did and it actually helped him in finding ways to communicate with you. Of course, a hug and soothing words from you always worked as well.

T = Try. How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, everyday tasks etc.

Stevens love language is definitely acts of service. He would wake up every morning and make you a coffee or tea, making sure to wake you up for work with a kiss and a warm drink to start your day. Gifts wise, he was amazing! As said before, money is a little tight but that doesn’t stop him bringing things home from work often, saying how they’ve just got these new things in stock at the gift shop, and he knew instantly you would love it. 

Dates he would struggle a little. He knew of the basics, going out for dinner, going for walks etc. But when it came to doing something bigger and more exciting for anniversaries or birthdays? He had no idea. He thought maybe a more expensive restaurant would be good enough, not really having an idea of what else to do. Eventually though, you would start planning some dates and doing different things together which would give Steven a little inspiration of what to do next.

U = Ugly. What would be some bad habits of theirs?

Steven is messy. Like annoyingly, extremely messy. At first you didn’t mind too much but when you did finally move in and try to clean up his flat a little, it would annoy you to no end when he would come home and mess everything up almost immediately. You knew it wasn’t his fault and he didn’t do it on purpose but even so. When you spoke to him about though, you did notice he started to actively try and be tidier. Though it didn’t make much of a difference - you still appreciated it. 

V = Vanity. How concerned are they with how they look?

Not concerned at all most of the time. He often had tired eyes, hair sticking up a little where he would try to tame down the curls but never really succeeding, clothes never ironed and always slightly baggy. But on the occasion, he would make an effort for you. Putting on a suit and tie and even ironing it. 

W = Wedding. When, how, where do they propose?

Steven did have a big plan. He had a reservation at a beautiful restaurant, set aside some money to buy himself a new suit and you a new outfit too. He picked the perfect ring out and was going to buy some flowers to match the colour of the stone. But one evening, when you were both in your pjs, lying on the sofa watching a documentary, Steven looked down at you. Your head was lying on his legs, one hand under his thigh as you hugged his legs. He could see your eyes were starting to droop as he ran his fingers through your hair but could tell you were trying your best to stay awake. In that moment of pure domestic bliss, the words ‘marry me’ slipped past his lips without him even realising it. 

X = XO. How do they show you affection?

He’s an act of service kind of man but he’s also very touch deprived. He likes to have a hand on you pretty much at all times, especially when you’re out. Whether that's holding your hand, having his hand on your waist or just standing close enough that your arms brush. Steven also often gives you random kisses, muttering ‘I love you’s’ as he does so. He does little things but does them a lot.

Y = Yearn. What do they do when they miss you?

He’ll take a moment to use the diary you brought him, trying to get out his emotions but usually ends up writing about you. He’ll often burn your favourite candle as well, the smell filling his flat reminding him of you. He did worry sometimes about coming off as needy so would have to learn to cope without your presence with him 24/7, but that doesn’t mean he likes it.

Z = Zebra. If they wanted a pet, what would they get?

He loves Gus to pieces, but Steven also likes the thought of having a house cat. A cuddly little thing, all warm and fluffy. He brings it up to you all the time until eventually you both go out and adopt one.

Author's Note: I appreciate it's been a few weeks since my last string of posts, but I wanted to post a few things this week and I felt like a cute sfw alphabet for my favourite moon boy would be a nice way to get back into the flow of writing :) So I hope you enjoy it, and consider my inbox open for other Steven Grant thoughts and requests, or for alphabets for the other characters I write for! :)

a - affection (how affectionate are they? how do they show affection?)

It takes a long time for Steven to build up to outwardly showing you affection; it starts simply with the smiles he gives you, the bright sparkle in his eyes as he listens to you speak. After successfully bumbling through your first few dates he finally grew courageous enough to gently lace his fingers through yours for the first time, squeezing gently as if proving to himself you were really there at all. Once he's taken that first bold step to hold your hand, you can guarantee sweet Steven is grasping at your sleeve every chance he gets.

In an established relationship Steven's affection would come through both soft touches and gentle words. A calm hand on your lower back while you stir his tea, the rest of his chin on your shoulder as he scoots behind you on his little sofa, nuzzling his nose into the crook of your neck as he cuddles up next to you to sleep. And endless little endearing phrases, "my love", "sweetheart", "gorgeous", all muttered softly with bright, beaming eyes as he looks at you with just as much affection as he did when his loving gaze was his only way to show it.

b - beauty (what do they admire about their s/o? what do you think is beautiful about them?)

Steven is the absolute epitome of beautiful, inside and out. Possessing seemingly endless patience, kindness and love, especially when it comes to you, Steven really embodies everything good in a partner.

When it comes to you, nothing escapes Steven's enamored stare. Whether he's drinking in the brightness shining from your eyes as you speak passionately, tracing a finger over your features, watching the perfect highlighting lines form on your cheeks as you smile, he's completely enraptured by your light. Whenever he looks at you, both the tiny details he loves to memorise, and as a whole, beautiful person, Steven is absolutely amazing by how perfect you are to him, prettier than he could have ever imagined a person being. And not just the way you look, but the way that you are. The easy way you reassure him, or make those around you smile even on days when it seems impossible, you bring warmth and joy wherever you go, and Steven admires the natural caring instinct that seems so deeply rooted inside you.

c- cuddles (do they like to cuddle? how would they cuddle?)

Once Steven is confident you are happy for him to touch you, and you won't get frustrated with him clinging to you at every possible moment, prepare to unlock full Koala boyfriend Steven. You can barely get through the door of his little flat before his arms are around your waist, shamelessly hindering your attempts to get your coat off. Steven won't sleep unless he's got his hands on you, reaching out or pulling you flush against him, and eventually even loses his focus reading unless your weight is settled over his lap in his favourite armchair. He's spent so much of his life alone, starved of physical affection, that now that he can have that whenever he wants to, he's always going to choose to be cuddled up next to you. Feeling your hands on him, a physical reminder of your love as you brush a stray curl away from his eyes and settle your hands at the nape of his neck, gives Steven the feeling of being whole that he's been missing for as long as he's known himself.

d - dates (what are dates with them like? do they plan them out or are they spontaneous?)

Steven would try to plan his dates, he really would. He'd want to hit all the textbook date spots, nice dinners, movies, cafes, all of which would be perfectly lovely. But all of your favourite dates with Steven are the ones that are 100% him, like begging the security guard to let him stay at the museum after hours for a private tour. Or the afternoon after you first start sleeping over where Steven drags you down a London street full of charity shops and thrift stores, insisting you pick out your own special mug and bowl to keep at his flat since "you'll be sleeping over all the time now! That is if you want to, not to pressure you or anything love, I just really like having you over." You two spend the whole afternoon running through every shop you can find before giggling home with your precious finds, including a black and gold teapot you immediately get brewing.

e - ending (if they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

I think Steven would do everything he could to make a relationship work, but if it really wasn't right it would break Steven's heart completely. He'd try and tell a partner the news as sensitively as possible, stumbling over words, sobbing himself before he ever got the words out. Luckily you'll never have to see that side of him!

f - fiancee (how do they feel about commitment? how quick would they want to get married?)

Steven would honestly be ready to commit from day one. He's so sure that you are the person he wants to spend his whole life, it only takes a few weeks until his flat no longer feels like home without you, his days feel empty unless you're there to fill them, and when he thinks about his future the only option for him is one centered around you.

He'd try to hold back from expressing his aspirations at first, worried about scaring you off with his intensity, but he can only keep it up so long. Truly his adoration for you comes pouring out of him with every look, with every word, a constant reminder of just how amazing, wonderful, incredible he thinks you are. He'd start casually mentioning the ancient Egyptian rituals mostly closely tied to marriage, asking if you'd ever thought about it, desperately trying to gauge if you're on the same page as him. After a few less than subtle hints, he wouldn't be able to contain himself anymore, the words threatening to burst from his lips every time you smile his way. One night half way through a film, he'd be trembling beside you, watching the light from the screen dance in your eyes, losing his battle against his instincts as he silently drops to one knee beside you, pulling out the ring box he's been carrying on him at all times for the last six weeks. and launches into the monologue that's been building in his mind since the day you met, encouraged by the smile widening across your cheeks as he speaks.

g - gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Sweet baby Steven is the gentlest boy you could imagine. He handles you like the single most precious artefact the museum's ever held, taking every opportunity to gingerly brush his fingertips over your skin, grounding himself in your company. Emotionally speaking he is even softer with you, constantly reassuring you when you've had a tough day, complimenting your kindness, your smile and taking every opportunity to make your day a little better or easier. He loves the soft way you speak to him, your patience, your ability to make him feel like he really is worthy of your praise and love, and he'll do anything to make sure you feel the same way around him.

h - hugs (do they like hugs? how often do they do it? what are their hugs like?)

Steven is a full teddy bear when it comes to hugs from you! Celebrating something good? Steven wants a hug. Feeling down today? Steven wants a hug. Having a completely average afternoon? You guessed it, Steven wants a hug. If he could spend his whole day pulling you into his arms, he would without a second thought.

And Steven's hugs are all encompassing. Arms draped over your shoulders or waist, soft wool of his jumpers wrapped over his hands as they grip whatever part of you they reach. His cheeks brush against yours as his warm breath floods your neck, his cosy scent all around you as he squeezes like he might never let go for fear you'll leave if he does. But when you squeeze back, planting a soft kiss on his neck and sighing contently at the contact, he loosens his grip a little, relishing in the security of your love.

i - injury (how would they act if they got hurt?)

Steven is a lot of things; sweet, intelligent, sensible, but dear god is he clumsy. Steven gets a minor injury about once a week, falling up some stairs, dropping things on himself, landing face first on the floor after slipping. He's almost used to having a few bruises at this point, so never seems particularly phased by his injuries until you start fussing over him when he comes home with a scraped elbow from tripping off the bus. You immediately start cleaning him up, peppering his face and arm with 'medicinal kisses,' his face absolutely beaming in disbelief as you ask again and again if he's sure he's okay. From that day on Steven is almost excited to tell you when he trips over, getting giddy from your affectionate first aid, so unused to having some care about him this much.

If the roles are reversed and you're the one sick or injured, Steven would be at absolute panic stations: Filling the fridge with soup, brewing endless tea, filling hot water bottles and making sure you don't move a muscle until you are back to peak physical condition.

j - jealousy (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they're jealous?)

While the more time Steven spends with you, the better he starts to feel about himself, that doesn't stop his insecurities getting the better of him when he sees another guy flirting with you. When he sees you talking to another man, laughing while you wait at the coffee cart to meet Steven, he stops dead in his tracks, all his doubts suddenly deafening in his mind. Of course other men notice you, you're gorgeous, he'd be an idiot to think he's the only person you'd notice. or be interested in. You could have anyone, and he has so little to offer in his mind, it was only a matter of time until you realised you had much better options. As he stands frozen in the background of this little scene he has no idea that all you can think about as you make polite small talk, is how excited you are that you'll be back with Steven soon. Luckily as you turn and spot him, the wide smile that spreads across your face as your eyes lock dispels those negative thoughts and has his heart bursting in his chest again.

k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to be kissed?)

Before you came into his life Steven couldn't remember the last time he kissed someone, but this hopeless romantic found himself wistfully watching romcoms and daydreaming about the day he'd find someone who felt that way about him. So when it got to the end of your second date, escorted back home like the gentleman Steven is, he was practically shaking like a leaf in the wind at the thought that the time had finally come for his fairytale kiss. He was so nervous, desperately trying to think about what to say, making sure he didn't trip or accidentally walk into the road without looking and that he barely heard you the first time you asked him.

"What was that sorry?" he blinked in nervous reply.

"I said can I kiss you Steven?" You asked sweetly, smiling brightly at his awestruck face, as he tried to pull himself together enough to answer you, this eventuality not one that he had considered even in his wildest dreams. And then he realised he was still staring silently at you, snapping out of his trance and nodding frantically as he fought the smile creeping across his lips, not wanting anything to ruin the moment. His lips are soft, hesitant as they press against yours, not wanting to go too far, still in disbelief that you could want him this way.

That perfect first kiss, followed his ecstatic giggles, and more enthusiastic second kiss, opened the floodgates for Steven's kisses. Every greeting, every good bye, every good night, always punctuated by his warm plush lips meeting yours, never missing an opportunity to pull you into his giddy embrace. His favourite place for your lips is right on his, but when you plant a soft kiss on his forehead, his cheek, his neck he can't help the blissful smile that spreads across his cheeks.

l - love language (what is their love language?)

Steven is a nervous little bug, with insecurities running as deep as they go, so I think Words of Affirmation would be on top for him. You'd put in the effort to make sure he always knows how interesting you find his historic lectures, how handsome you find him first thing in the morning, how incredible of a boyfriend he is to you. You praise him over and over, telling him the little thoughts as they pop into your head until one day he really, truly starts to believe them.

A close second for Steven would be Physical Touch, given how much of his life he's spent on his own. Having your hand gently interlocked in his as you walk through London, softly brushing your thumb over his skin absentmindedly as you talk would feel like a whole body comfort blanket to him, no matter how small the contact. He'd feel his previously blue and grey skies turn the warmest pinks and oranges the moment you settled into the seat beside him, draping your legs over him and resting your head on his shoulder, always letting him know you are right by his side.

m - mornings (how are mornings spent with them?)

Steven doesn't sleep too well, even with you by his side, so mornings are not his sharpest time. Expect lots of haphazard pawing at you to stay cuddled in bed with him, angry denials that you're definitely not both going to be late for work, only emerging from his duvet cocoon when you pop the kettle on. He'll shuffle slowly across the little wooden floor until he latches himself on to you, only starting to look slightly awake at the promise of you letting him join you for a morning shower.

n - nights (how are nights spent with them?)

Nights after work are usually spent at Steven's flat, him feeling much more comfortable in the place he's used to. He's often feeling a little low after work if his manager has been all over him, so coming home to you, filling the flat with music, or the smells of cooking, or just the warmth of your presence boosts him to a level of happiness he previously didn't think possible. Given the weather in London most of your nights are spent curled up on his sofa, you on Steven's lap while he reads, or legs intertwined while you watch a movie and he points out the historical inaccuracies, or if it's a romcom cries into your shoulder less than subtly.

o - open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Even though he only remembers snippets of his childhood, growing up in that environment had some pretty deep effects on Steven. He spent most of his life being pretty solitary, guarding himself from others behind some pretty tall walls before you came into the picture. So even though Steven is totally smitten and immediately wants to keep you forever, he's just not convinced you'll stick around and he doesn't want to risk opening himself up to that hurt. So he tells you a little bit of information on each date, playing it safe, waiting for you to run in the opposite direction. But with every date you smile enthusiastically at the new information, and tell him a little something about you, and then keep coming back for the next date, interest never wavering. Until one night, late into a dinner date on your couch, and Steven's about to tell you the next fact about himself, thinking for sure this will be the night you realise you're too good for him, when he realises he has nothing left about himself to tell you. You've stayed through all his thoughts, and stories, and memories. You've stayed for him. And as he looks at your bright expecting eyes, he knows he can trust you with anything.

p - patience (how patient are they usually? what tends to wear their patience thin?)

For you, Steven has all the patience in the world, nothing is too much for you and he'll never get frustrated if you're late, or forgetful, or even occasionally thoughtless. No, Steven saves all his frustration for himself. He finds his temper getting shorter with himself now that he has someone he cares about waiting on him. You'll hear him cursing himself before you see him as he stumbles off the bus, twenty minutes late with no warning as he dropped his phone in a puddle at the bus stop. You'll be showered with an immediate flood of apologies, from the 'bloody idiot' until you slowly soothe your fingertips over the creasing lines across his forehead and tell him not to worry, cutting off his self-deprecating monologue with a reassuring kiss.

q - quality time (how do they like to spend with you?)

Stevens' dream day-off with you is two fold:

First spending the morning touring the museum without being shackled to the gift shop counter. He likes to give you the unabridged tour, telling you his favourite stories and theories from each of the time periods, drinking in your enraptured gaze as he talks. Then of course he likes to help you pick out a souvenir from the gift shop so he gets to have a positive memory associated with the place.

The second half of his dream day would be going with you to whatever makes you as happy as showing you around the museum makes him! Whether it's an aquarium, arcade, karaoke bar, clothes shopping, drag show, cat cafe, manicure, spa day, sports game - it makes no difference to Steven because he is 100% invested. He wants to be the enraptured audience for you that you are to him, knowing how much it means to him when you listen to his Egyptian lectures.

r - remember (what is their favourite moment in your relationship?)

Steven has a million happy memories with you but the one that plays on loop is from about your third date. You were sitting in a little cafe sharing cookies and hot chocolate, warming your hands on a crisp October afternoon. Despite clearly being there on a date together, the barista bringing attentive refills couldn't help throw a few flirty lines at a truly oblivious Steven. It would have made you feel a little jealous if it wasn't for the way Steven's gaze never left yours, every cheeky line completely innocently dismissed with a polite thank you. The walk home is peaceful and quiet as you both stomp on crunchy autumn leaves, and he works up the nerve to put his gloved hand in the grasp of your mitten. As you stand outside your door, you can't help but praise his chivalry with a laugh, "you're a real gentleman Steven, from walking me home to ignoring a pretty, flirting waitress." You're met by an echoing laugh as Steven shakes his head, "flirting?! With me?!"

You nod with a laugh, astonished he could have missed the less than subtle signs, "oh absolutely'"

Poor boy is a little spacey so I think he is less good when it comes to anniversaries and key dates, but it's not because he doesn't value them, he just struggles to keep track of the time and day. And he truly believes that, he knows you're strong enough and smart enough to make it through any situation, but that doesn't mean things can't get bad for a little while, and he's all about being there for you while you feel however you're feeling, holding your hand through the lows, and helping you back to your feet when you're ready.

I don't think Steven really thought much about his looks before you came into his life, going all out to put on his best (albeit slightly ill-fitting) suit for your first date. It was hard for him to mentally prepare for how good were you going to look for the occasion, immediately making him feel underdressed, but you told him that he looked really nice, and again on your next date, and the third, until he started to feel like he could just look his usual self around you, and even first thing in the morning you'll tell him he looks beautiful, and as hard as it is for him to believe you, he think the exact same thing waking up next to you, so maybe it was true, maybe he looks just right for you as he is.

Sometimes Steven completely forgets himself and just stares at you. summary: Though the first time meeting you was unconventional, Marc finds himself drawn to you. Despite his apprehension, and with some convincing from Steven, he allows himself a chance.

warnings: mild descriptions of injuries and implications of kidnapping in the beginning, otherwise, primarily fluff :) also set after the events of the moon knight show but there's very little spoilers.

With hands that maimed and shed so much blood, Marc resigned himself to the fact that he'd never find peace. As long as he'd be Khonshu's avatar, he'd never escape the killings and despair it brought. And though it brought him some solace knowing those he was assigned to murder were only the worst of humanity, it didn't spare the fact that it was, in the end, murder. 

Even now as he was on a mission, he knew the cold stares of the men bleeding out on the floor would be burned into his memory. Quite literally, as that room with all his victims had proved that more than anything. With a sigh, he put away his crescent blades, ready to go back home and let Steven front so he wouldn't have to ruminate on the fact. 

Marc, did you hear that?

He paused, letting the hood and mask of his outfit fall away so that he could listen carefully. 

Haggard breaths and stifled weeping. 

Where on earth could that be coming from?

He followed the sound to the back of the van, unease already forming at the implications. Making sure the back was unlocked first, he went to open it which confirmed his suspicions.

The first thing he noticed were the bruises littered about your skin, and with the blindfold and restraints, you failed to recognize him beyond your captors as you went silent and near still save for your trembling. The sight did wonders to ease his guilt at least. 

Bloody hell.. these were some awful people, Marc.

He grimaced in agreement, but as he’s about to call out to you, he hesitates. Steven might be better for this, he thinks. In the metal of the vehicle, he sees Steven shake his head. 

Go on mate, the longer you take, the more she’ll fret now.

He sighs, “Hey.” You flinch, and he winces at the gruffness of his voice, so he tries again, gentler this time. 

“I took care of the guys who hurt you. I’m gonna let you go now, okay?” Your breathing is still shallow, which concerns him, but he cuts away at your binds the moment you give him the go ahead. 

His touch is light and way too gentle to be any way reminiscent of those who kidnapped you. You can’t help but laugh shakily, just relieved that it’s all over. He pauses at your reaction, and you can tell he’s confused. 

“Sorry, I’m just- I’m so glad they’re finally gone now.” Your voice is hoarser than you expected, making you cringe. But you can’t bring yourself to focus on that when you find your wounds aren’t aching anymore. At last he takes off your blindfolds, it takes you a moment to adjust your eyes and you see him. 

His brows are furrowed with careful concentration along with focused, piercing eyes that would’ve frightened you had you not know he was your savior. But with how intense his gaze was, he almost looked constipated. You stifle a laugh, which gains you more confusion from the man. 

“S-Sorry! Sorry, it’s just that, you look so serious. Do I look that bad?” His expression relaxes a bit, and he lets out a soft huff. Yet when he glances at your bruises, he finds that they aren't as exacerbated as they were before. He wears that silly, serious expression again and you’re tempted to smooth out the wrinkle that forms in his brows. 

Unfortunately, the impulse was immediately acted upon considering your lack of inhibitions from the whole ordeal. But you accomplish your goal when instead, his eyes widen and his expression relaxes under your hand. 

He doesn’t get it. He doesn’t understand the fact that with a single brush of your fingertips against his face, he finds fullness in the silence, reprieve with every breath he takes, peace in the moment. He watches you move your hand away when you find yourself, and though you appear embarrassed, he finds himself more so when he realizes how much he misses the contact already. 

“Sorry,” you utter again, “I wasn’t thinking and-” he grabs your hand again with urgency at first. Yet he remembers your condition, and his grasp becomes gentle. The action shocks the two of you, and while Marc is mortified he did that without thinking, he manages to recover from it quickly. 

“You gotta stop apologizing, you know.” Enraptured, you find yourself just nodding along. But again you realize the utter lack of pain you should be feeling. Another glance, and you notice, your bruises are gone. 

“Who are you?” You almost start to think this is some sort of dream. But the weight and warmth of his hand, even the details of the callouses upon his fingertips is just too real to ignore. 

“Marc. Spector.” He clears his throat, “Marc Spector.” He says altogether. A smile forms on your face as you tell him your name in return.

“Marc..”

Steven, I’m not gonna hear it.

“But Marc-”

No, I already told you that this was how it’s gonna go.

They both knew you were something special. After Marc made sure you got home safely that night, the two of you shared contact information because there was a mutual understanding that there was something about the other neither of you could ignore. 

But no matter how much Marc longed to see you again, he was afraid of what you could mean to them. He was resigned to denying himself this chance, so already it took a lot of convincing from Steven to allow even the alter to meet you. 

“Alright, but you’re being a bit of a knob, you know that right?” He watched his reflection roll his eyes, so he frowned right on back as he adjusted the collar of his shirt. “I just don’t understand why you do this to yourself. It’s not like you’re the only one interested, not to mention, they seemed rather fancied too.” He mutters, trying to fix the stray curl that always managed to find its way back onto his forehead. 

He didn’t miss the hesitation Marc had at that statement, but both parties were distracted by the knocking at the door. 

To be honest, Steven was also quite taken to you after seeing you last. And opening the door to you dressed comfortably and looking at ease in your own skin already has him feeling something more. When you light up at the sight of him, he swears his heart flutters like nothing else before. 

“Steven, right?” The sound of his name from your lips easily brings a smile to his face, and you can easily feel the difference between the two of them.

“Yes! Come on in, love. Apologies for such a late notice, I hope it didn’t trouble you much.” Though the endearment causes you to blush, you shake your head as you enter. 

“No, not at all. I thought it as a good opportunity to meet you also.” You say as if it’s the most natural thing to do, getting acquainted with the other person of the same body. You were so understanding over the phone when he, or rather, Marc,  broke the news to you about his disorder. Rather than respond with apprehension or even any sort of displeasure at the revelation, you were curious, excited even to get to know Steven as much as Marc. The thought comforts him really, and he can’t help but get his hopes up. 

“Well, I’m quite fond of getting to know you too.” He pauses, before giving a cheeky little grin. “You know, Marc has spoken quite well of you since then.”

But the man is pleased the mere statement has you flustered and tugging at your sleeves in a nervous habit. “Really? I wasn’t sure I made much of an impression.” 

Even if he had met you on the street, he’s sure he wouldn’t have forgotten you. He has a feeling Marc shares the same sentiment. 

“It’s not often someone can be as lighthearted after what you’ve been through. I only wish we could’ve met you in better circumstances.” He tuts, shaking his head, “But let’s not focus on that, I had a whole bit planned for us today if you’re up for it.” The thoughtfulness pulls a smile onto your face.

“I’d love to.”

Steven was softer spoken, but that didn’t mean he didn’t talk any less. Honestly, you didn’t mind, considering how excited he’d get about his topics of interest. That paired alongside his cute, little accent basically had you hanging on his every word. It also helped that he took you to the museum, his discounted tickets made it all the more ideal to go to. 

And he was such a darling about it too, always checking in on you to make sure you were enjoying yourself and overly fretting that maybe he was talking your ear off since he has a habit of speaking too much before he realizes it. You quickly shut down the thought by responding you were glad to have your very own, personal tour guide. To add on top of your statement, you made sure to ask a few extra questions just to encourage him to talk. 

Marc was quiet throughout the whole endeavor. After everything that happened in Egypt, he knew it’d be difficult to fall back into their normal routine again. Yet watching Steven talk to you so carefree and at ease, he couldn’t help but be relieved for a moment. But nonetheless, this was more of a date than he’d like it to be. He only acquiesced because he warned Steven to keep the distance, but right off the bat the man did and said what he wished. Damn Steven for getting so confident after everything, no matter how much it made him proud. Even so, he didn’t force his way to fronting either because he didn’t know if he had the courage to deny you. So he was left to watch, more jealous than he’d ever admit. 

“You mind if I ask a weird question?"” He blinked, not expecting it but quickly nodded to not allow you to shy away. 

“I don’t mind at all, it’s just been me speaking this whole lot anyways.” He gives a quick laugh. “What is it, love?” 

“How exactly do you talk to Marc? I mean, you are sharing the same body and everything.” That surprised him, and he glanced at the reflective plaque as if expecting Marc to respond. The man only shrugged, pretending not to care. “Sorry, was that too much of me?” He shook his head immediately.

“Of course not, you could never be.” He blurted, becoming embarrassed. “Er, what I mean is that it’s a perfectly reasonable question.” He scratched the back of his head, “It’s a little strange to admit, but he’s sorta my reflection.” He watches you look around to try finding the nearest reflective surface and he can’t help but laugh at how cute that is. 

“Hey.” You mock frown, but you’re secretly pleased to see the twinkle of delight in his eyes as he looks at you. You wouldn’t mind if he looked at you like that everyday. “Can you see him now?” 

Don’t tell her, Steven.

He nods, although curious, “Why do you ask?” 

“I have something I want to tell him.” You reply without hesitation, still trying to keep an eye out for anywhere with reflections. You do notice a particularly shiny pillar, but you think it’s rather far to hold a conversation with. But then that makes you wonder, do they have to talk aloud to communicate? “I mean, that is, if he can hear me.” 

“Yeah he can. You know he’s been off and grumpy in this plaque here for quite a while now. Think the lad’s jealous is what it is.” He taps on the piece of metal to further point it out. 

Steven! What the hell do you think you’re doing? I told you that you weren’t supposed to mention me at-

“Hey Marc?” You’re looking straight at the plaque, and for a moment, Marc swears you can actually see him then and there. “Thank you. I don’t think I ever got the chance to tell you that night, but I’m really glad I got to meet you and Steven.” And then you smile, and though it should be impossible since he’s not fronting, the sight takes his breath away. 

When you turn back to Steven, you see the fondest expression on his face that makes your face warm. He’s amazed by you is why he’s having such a goofy smile— the kind that stretches his lips and forms a little wrinkle on the edges of his cheeks. He remembers how you didn’t even question it when he told you Marc wasn’t going to see you today, only understanding that the man had his reasons. 

Tell her I just did my job that night.

His eyes widen and he looks at the reflection. You looked curious, “Did he say something?” Even Marc is looking back at him with surprise as well. 

I.. forget I said anything. 

“Yes, actually.” He sees Marc’s lips downturn to a frown. “He’s glad to have met you as well. I am the same.” Your blush starts to become quite visible, pleasing him as it seems to cause Marc to be at a loss for words. 

A sudden growl stuns the both of you, and he gets all bashful then. “Ah, that ruined the moment didn’t it? What a shame.” He laughs, lightly patting his stomach. “It seems I’m a bit peckish now, hm? Are you alright in finding some takeaway and ending the date at my flat?” He blinks when you look at him with a stunned look on your face. “S-Sorry! That was too forward of me wasn’t it?” Taking a deep breath, you feel emboldened to act up as well.

Reaching out, you carefully take his hand into yours, and give him a cheeky little grin. “Only if you’re alright with me doing the same.” Both his eyes and mouth are wide with shock, and he flounders for words which brings you to laugh. “Ah! I don’t mean to laugh, you just look so cute right now.” 

It feels as if time slows down then. This man who you’ve barely known for a day and some already makes you feel such affection for him. With the way he looks at you, he makes it perfectly clear that he feels the same way. The deep browns of his eyes have you mesmerized, and you catch him glancing down to your lips for a split second. He slowly starts leaning in, and you’re just about to reach up to cup his face when something in his gaze flickers and he pauses. 

“Let’s go get dinner then.” That American accent. 

Marc ends up leading you out of the museum, but you make sure to take note that while he did pull back, he never did let go of your hand on the way out.

He didn’t say much after getting the food or even getting settled down in the flat. He did reply to any inquiries you made with soft noises of acknowledgement, but hardly went beyond a ‘yes’. It astonished you truly how different the two men were. As you watched him walk about his kitchen, the way he carried himself was more confident, with straighter posture while he shuffled about silently. You helped him set up the food, and he didn’t even question it beyond a curious glance as he handed you utensils and napkins. The whole scene felt too domestic, and you could barely hold back a smile at the thought. 

“I had fun today.” He grunts with a nod. When he had first done so, you had taken it a little apprehensively, especially due to the sudden contrast from Steven. But with the crinkle in his brow that formed from concern, you knew that wasn’t his intention. You figured that he didn’t know how to respond, yet didn’t want to make you think he wasn’t listening. It was his way of showing he was indeed hearing you, and you found that sweet. You slowly open your box, blowing at the steam that puffed out. “I’m glad that I also get the chance to spend some time with you too.” You added on quietly as an afterthought. 

He froze which was made pointedly clear as he fumbled with his own box that tapped against the table. Nervous, you realized. That’s why he was so quiet. He slowly nodded, and not to embarrass him further with the silence, you thanked him for the food and quickly dug in. 

Which was a mistake because it was piping hot. 

The table jolted as you flinched. Your tongue burned, and you barely were able to swallow down the bite much to your discomfort. Marc shot up in alarm, and made his way next to you in a couple of strides, and his hands rose to hover over you worriedly. 

“Are you okay? What happened?” His voice was low, but it hardly hid how concerned he was. His eyes were scanning the food carefully as if it were an active threat, and you waved your hand to hopefully ward off his fears. 

“H-Hot.” You scrunch your face at the pain that rushes through your mouth from speaking. He kneels to get closer to you, a hand reaching up to your face to cradle it and assess the damage. When you open your eyes, he’s barely inches away. 

The crease in his brow was deepened, pressing down and shadowing his eyes and he was too preoccupied to notice the proximity. With his hand so close, you could feel the heat of him radiate off of it. You felt just as mesmerized when you first met him, and you couldn’t help but lean into his touch. It was only then that he noticed the position and felt his breath stutter. 

But your own brows furrowed when you realized your tongue didn’t hurt at all. You gasped, immediately reactivating his protective mode, but you reached up to rest your hand on top of his. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.” He blinks. “My tongue.” Further confusion and you laughed. “Sorry- er, I mean- Well, it’s not just that. I forgot to mention also that night, you made my bruises go away too.” There’s a spark of recognition and he nods. “How’d you do that?” 

“I don’t know.” His gaze glances to where your bruises were, his gaze darkening from the memory. “It’s not something I can do.” Yet when you lightly brush your thumb over his knuckles, the tension is relieved from his face and he feels himself go still under your touch. “You affect me somehow too.” He says before he can think which makes him cringe. “I didn’t mean it like-” he sighs, “I don’t know how to explain it.” 

“As if I could trust you with my whole life despite barely knowing you.” He stares at you, a little too long that makes you think you’ve said something wrong for a moment until he leans in closer. 

“I didn’t mean to front today.” He pauses, looking away as he tries to find his words. “To be honest, I wanted to avoid you, but after seeing you talk with Steven, I..” he trails off, sighing as his eyes eventually find their way back to yours. 

For a moment he looks small. Eyes filled with uncertainty, but even so, you manage to see a glimmer of hope. His voice gets somehow quieter as he barely murmurs, “Can I?” And you know he’s referring back to your statement. Your hand falls from his, causing his heart to start sinking. But then you lean in, touching your forehead against his as your hand ends up resting on his shoulder. 

“I would trust you.” Your breath fans over his lips from the proximity, and his eyelids flutter to lay half-lidded. 

Since he left the museum, Steven had been talking at him almost nonstop from the takeout to the flat, even as he got ready to eat with you. He wasn’t responding as he should, he wasn’t honest with himself, he stole you away from your lovely time with Steven. And Marc knew that, but you didn’t make a single complaint. You smiled at him. And every sweet word that fell from your lips, he knew in his heart you meant it. You were happy to be with him just as much as Steven.

The alter in question went completely silent as his lips made contact with yours. And while envious to some extent, he was also relieved. Marc had finally allowed himself some good; he had found his peace with you.

"No, no, no, no!" An unfortunately familiar voice cuts through the once peaceful garden. Gritting their teeth as they hear the swathe of living robes himself stomp towards them. What was once a peaceful shift of taking care of the King's personal gardens has now taken a very annoying turn.

"I specifically asked for blue peonies," he says cooly, trying to regain his anger in as he reaches out to touch the bush Y/N was trying to trim.

"I have it written done from weeks ago that you had requested purple flowers," Y/N retorts, snipping an outgrown branch before turning to face their King. "So now you have purple flowers, perfectly matching those hideous orchids you insist on keeping!"

"Hideous!" Thranduil gasps his anger now back in full force. "Do you know how long it took me to get them to grow? How long it took to even find those damned things?"

How long I've waited.

Summary: After a bloody long night, Y/N finally has the pleasure of meeting Jake. This fic is based on this prompt by @budcooper! Go show them some love!

A/N well this didn't turn out as expected! I'm not entirely angry about that, but I just hope y'all like it and my characterization of Jake! Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy cuz my next fic i'll post isn't moon knight related, buuuut I do plan on opening my requests soon for my 700 follower celebration! So if you like my writing style be sure to look out for that!

A stifled yawn breaks the stillness of the small apartment. What time is it, Y/N slowly blinks, shutting the book they had been boredly studying closed, Y/N turns their head to search for their phone on Steven's cluttered desk. Blinded by their phone's bright light, Y/N blankly stares at bold numbers reading 3:39 AM.

With a tired groan, Y/N noisily drops their phone back onto their desk before scrubbing their face with their palms. "What's taking you so long Marc?" They whine, their fingers spreading slightly so they can eye down the heavily locked door.

Date the fist of vengeance nobody said, it'd be fun nobody added.

Throwing themselves back into their chair, Y/N crosses their arms above their chest, drumming their fingers against their arm in thought. They had a very demanding job that required them to get up at seven-thirty every day, but they had promised to themselves to always wait for Marc or Steven or anyone else to come back.....much to their dislike of course.

Birthday Surprise.

Summary: with Steven and Marc's 37th birthday today, Y/N has decided to give them a gift they will never forget

Y/N questions as she places two colorful candles in the shape of a 3 and 7 in the middle of a round chocolate cake, her eyes landing on the excited Brit sitting in front of the cake. "Cause you could blow out the three and he can get the seven or I can just get mo–"

Steven's soft dark eyes quickly glance at Gus's tank before replying. "Ah no," he begins, his lip twitching into a slight frown. "He says he's not much of a birthday guy anymore."

With a small nod, Y/N makes sure that all the presents are in place while Steven lights his candles. Sliding into an old wooden chair next to him, Y/N smiles softly at him as she says "Happy birthday love!"

After blowing out the candles, they happily dig in. "Wow this is amazing love," Steven hums.
