have you perhaps a list of readings you would recommend to understand better disco elysium/sacred and terrible air? i wouldn't know where to start and your posts are interesting so worth trying to ask :)
aw thank you! Well, I feel like I’m not really that well-read, and the order I read philosophy/history/etc is all over the place lol
If I had to recommend some reading, there is this essay about the pale, that I think is essential to understanding Elysium. :

as for books, I would say Capitalist Realism by Mark Fisher could be a good starting point. And I think it would be worth to read something about these topics:
neoliberalism, capitalism
communism - marxism, history of socialist countries
russian nihilism
christianity - dispensationalism
The devs have said that they were influenced by Hegel, Marx, Slavoj Žižek, Lenin, & they also said they used to be anarchists so I would say reading some anarchist text could be interesting too if you want to really dive into it (idk, Emma Goldmann for example)
You can find a lot of these writings on these websites:

Astarion alone meets the other spawn and again, the scene is different. He immediately tells them Cazador intends to sacrifice them.

Before we start not reading, not researching, & jumping to conclusions via reblogs & things with the speed per capital society we live in, where is it sourced specifically (that isn't a tumblr post or a tiktok without citations) that the Trevor Project is in support of KOSA?
We have sources for GLAAD, GLSEN, and PFLAG (August 24, 2023), but I wanna know where the rest of this info comes from. Pretty convenient to say that an organization known for helping trans youth is in support of a shitty bill amidst all the ongoing chaos, especially when we live in an age of misinformation.
If anyone could link it to me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Update: Okay so yeah this is kinda suspect, The Trevor Project in July 25, 2022 is all for KOSA here.

@free-martin replied to your post “would you mind explaining some of the process for...”:
wow i use a captive bolt gun made for rabbits. it's super easy and foolproof. this is narly to me. i tried the stun method of hitting them in the head but i didn't hit hard enough and it started screamin😬😬😬😬 so i'm kinda shook off of blunt force trauma
it's not blunt force trauma! cervical dislocation involves pulling apart the cervical vertebrae, usually with a bar or broomstick (you see it referred to as the 'broomstick method' a lot) placed over the neck. When you pull upwards on the feet the neck is extended at an angle that instantly severs the spinal cord, causing death with virtually no pain or stress.* you can also do this with a choke chain hanging from a tree, or a tool such as a hopper popper. bolt guns are very effective, but they are expensive and INCREDIBLY difficult to get in the states for some reason.
i also don't like whacking/stunning either for the exact same reason as you...there's just way too high of a margin of error where you can just hurt the animal instead of killing it or knocking it senseless. but CD/broomstick is not the same thing!
(* i know there is no way to truly quantify this, but in my experience the animals do not seem to know what hit them and the second their neck breaks they are dead. stress depends on how used to handling the animals are and how long it takes you to prepare, but in general it tends to be very calm. other than gunshot or bolt gun, CD is the most effective and humane method of slaughter that i know of that can be done at home.)

something really cool about an unfinished cancelled/drastically reworked beta for a game. whenever another one leaks i'm always fascinated by it, regardless of how little i care or know about the franchise. that rayman game that was turned into the first rayman raving rabbids, the original version of that one duke nukem game that took 10 years to come out, barkley shut up and jam gaiden 2.... it just rules to get to see these things. they all have a combination of ambitious ideas that don't quite work, catastrophically bad ideas that you have to be glad weren't actually published, and assorted parts that feel surprisingly complete (or not surprising i guess, when you remember that they had to be finished for a trailer or a demo, but interesting all the same)

not sure how aware you are of their newer stuff but a new starkid musical's being released this October 13! same setting different universe as tgwdlm, iirc
Ah yes the hatchetfieldening <3 I was there when the shift started n I watched the first nightmare time episode n black Friday but neither massively impressed me so I stopped 😔😔 I'm still mostly an older musicals girlie bcos of the nostalgia of watching them on loop at age 13 (except mamd ani and firebringer. 13yo me said fuck those ones) but deck the halls of northville high is a banger I still listen to on occasion

"Killing curse green eyes" is a description that should be reserved for a Harry that is an alarmingly few amount of steps away from using said curse.

Recently I was at a meet-up-thing for a-spec people and one of the older ones who organise these meet-ups said in the course of a conversation “well I’m ace and whatever sort of attraction I might feel every time a full moon aligns with the bloom of a special flower won’t shake my understanding of myself, I’m secure enough in who I am to not let that shatter my picture of myself” (that was a very loose quote but I think u get what she meant). And I just found it so funny cause she said it like it was a ridiculous thought to herself, that something small like that could impact herself so much because she’s obviously very at piece and secure with and in her asexuality and while I’m also quite sure of myself in that regard nowadays, there was a long period of time where a random maybe-attraction could definitely make myself question my whole sexuality all over again so that ridiculous thought was and in parts still is a reality to me. And I think this really beautifully shows how self-discovery is a process that we’re all taking at our own pace but that can “end” at some point where we can still be open to new feelings and realisations but where we can have found a way to self-identify that makes us be secure in who we are and where the path of self-discovery is less a daily shattering of our perception of ourselves and more a stable ground we can be free to make new experiences on.
