"I can't believe today's our last day already," Luna sighs, resting her head on her hand in the great hall.
"It's not like school's over," Amit chuckles. "We really only have a week off for winter break."
"I know," she mutters, "but that's going to be so long from now."
"Maybe," you reply. "But it'll pass before you know it. I mean, you could always stay, too."
"I wish. My parents would kill me if I didn't come home."
"So would mine," Amit nods.
"What do your plans look like?"
"Well," Amit starts, "I'm probably just going to relax. Maybe read a book."
"That's what I was planning on, too," you chuckle.
"You've got an owl, right?" he then asks both of you.
"Yep!" Luna grins brightly.
"No..." you hum, trailing off as you look across the room to see James talking to Professor Garlick. No doubt he's saying his goodbye for now to her.
"Hey, how come you're not going home?" Luna suddenly asks. "Do you and James have a place in the muggle world?"
"Yeah, but it's nothing like this place. I don't think he wants to go back but I didn't really ask him," you admit to your friends.
"Well, maybe you should," she shrugs. "You won't know if you never ask."
"Says you," you roll your eyes.
"I'm sorry to cut this short, but I think the train's leaving soon," Amit announces as he stands from his seat.
"It is?!" Luna gasps.
"Don't tell me you forgot," he smirks. "You're still taking it right?"
"Yeah but I...." she sighs, looking between the two of you. "Don't want to leave Y/N yet."
"I'll be alright," you smile softly. "Go enjoy your break from school. I'll see you guys after."
The three of you then hug goodbye, and as Amit and Luna rush off, you turn and walk over to where James is standing with Professor Garlick.
"Ah, Y/N," Garlick smiles. "I was just saying my goodbyes to your brother. I hope you two have a wonderful holiday."
"Thank you," you smile, and once she's gone, you look over at James. "So...what's the plan? Are we going home or are we staying here?"
James scoffs. "Don't tell me you want to go home, Y/N."
"Well, it's not like I was looking forward to it or anything but we haven't been in awhile. Maybe we should check in on the place," you shrug.
"It's not abandoned or anything," he replies. "We have a house elf."
"Really?" you hum. "Do we have an owl, too?"
"You mean you haven't noticed the thing in my room this whole time?" he sighs. "Seriously, Y/N, it's not that difficult to catch on."
"I guess," you shrug.
"Well," James starts, "I vote on staying here. What do you say?"
You glance across the mostly empty room, only to see Ominis sitting by himself at the Slytherin table finishing his breakfast. "I, uh," you mutter as James follows your gaze.
"I'm guessing this means I won't be seeing much of you for the rest of the break," he chuckles.
"Well, I could spend the day with you if you wanted," you reply, looking over at him.
"It's alright, Y/N. Go be with him. I could use some rest anyway," he tells you.
"Thanks," you smile. "I'll have dinner with you tonight, though."
"I'll be asleep. If you need me before dinner, don't wake me up."
"Sounds good," you nod, and with that, you make your way over to Ominis.
"Hi," you grin, sliding into the seat next to him. "I heard it's supposed to snow tomorrow."
"I think it's going to snow the whole break, actually," he replies as he reaches for his drink on the table.
"I was thinking about going out. I could use some company," you say, watching as he takes a sip.
"And you'd want me to come along?"
"Of course. Who else would I ask?"
Ominis smiles and places his cup down. "Alright. I'm sure I can manage to get away for a bit. It's not like we have any classes."
"Great. Let's meet at the Entrance Hall around ten," you beam.
"It's a date," he hums.
"I can't wait! Hey, uh, by the way, did Sebastian already leave?"
"He just took the train a few minutes ago," Ominis sighs.
"Good," you grin. "So now it's just us."
"For the next week, yes."
You smile to yourself as you walk around the other side and grab Ominis by the hand. "What're you doing?" he asks as you guide him to his feet.
"Taking you somewhere a bit more private," you smirk, and pull him out of the Great Hall and towards the Slytherin dorms.
"Y/N," Ominis chuckles as the two of you walk. "What are you doing?"
"Getting my vacation started already," you grin.
"You're unbelievable," he laughs.
"Well, I've been wanting to spend some quality time with you for a while now, and it's not like we can do that with everyone else here," you tell him, stopping to turn around in the middle of the hall and tug gently on his tie.
"Hmm," he hums, leaning forward. "Perhaps it is best we get some alone time before the rest of the students come back."
"Exactly," you reply, and bring his lips down to yours. "Or we can just do it here. There's no one around, and it's not like anyone can see us."
"I like the sound of that," he says, his voice low.
You smile and push him up against the nearest wall but before his back reaches it, he spins you around and backs you up instead. His lips find yours, and he presses his body against yours, trapping you between him and the stone.
"Mmm," you hum, running your fingers through his hair. "I missed you," you whisper, pulling away.
"I missed you too," he whispers, peppering kisses along your jawline and down your neck.
"Ominis," you breathe. "Take me. Now."
"As you wish, my darling," he murmurs, and you feel him slip his hand up your skirt, his fingers trailing along the inside of your thigh.
You let out a soft moan, your hand gripping his shoulder.
"Ominis," you moan, throwing your head back.
"Shh," he hushes you, and moves his mouth to your ear.
"Make me," you whisper, and he grins, biting your earlobe.
"Careful what you wish for, Y/N," he says, his voice low.
"Mmm, you think I can't handle it?"
"I know you can," he replies. "But not the ghosts who might hear you."
"Fuck the ghosts," you moan.
"Well, they are very fond of you, so perhaps we should just let them listen."
"You're such a tease," you breathe.
"But you love it," he smirks.
You grin, tilting your head back and moaning again.
"Just fuck me already," you whine.
As you wish, Ominis unbuckles his belt, undoing his pants, and slips his cock out. He lines himself up with your entrance, rubbing the tip of his cock up and down your slit.
"Fuck," you whimper. "Please."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes! Just-"
You're cut off as he slides into you, burying himself completely.
"God," you gasp, arching your back.
"Tell me, Y/N," he starts, slowly rolling his hips. "How does it feel?"
"Ominis," you whisper, your voice raspy.
"Answer me, my darling," he demands.
"It feels...fuck, it feels amazing," you pant. "Harder."
He begins to thrust harder, his hips slapping against yours, causing your breasts to bounce with every thrust.
"Mmm, that's it," you moan.
"You're so tight," he grunts. "And wet. And warm."
"You make me feel so good," you whimper.
"Fuck, I'm going to come," he growls.
"M-me too," you whine, your walls fluttering around his cock.
"Oh, Y/N," he breathes, pounding into you. You can tell by the noises he makes and the desperate rhythm of his strokes now, that he is getting close. And you aren't too far from your own release, either. You can feel the tension twisting within you, growing tighter and tighter with each stroke of his cock.
Suddenly, he pulls out. But it only lasts for a moment before he thrusts back in with a grunt. He repeats this over and over, hammering into you with less and less care. His teeth grit together, his hips snapping as he thrusts at just the right angle into you that has your eyes rolling into the back of your head.
Ominis seems intent on fucking all sense out of you, his mind focused only on making you scream for him.
"Come," he growls, and his command has you tipping over the edge. He covers his hand over your mouth before he has you screaming his name as the orgasm hits you.
"That's it, Y/N," he pants, his hips faltering. "Let it out. Scream my name. Come for me. I'll make sure no one hears you."
He continues to fuck you, his cock ramming into you. Your legs wrap tighter around his waist, and you pull him closer, your nails digging into his shoulders.
"Oh god," you moan, your body going limp.
Ominis growls and continues to pound into you. You feel him twitch inside of you, and suddenly, his whole body shudders as he quickly pulls away. But before he can get too far, you sink to your knees and open your mouth.
"Fuck," he groans, stroking his cock a few times.
"Ominis..." you say, and look up at him with hooded eyes. "Let me taste you."
He doesn't hesitate, and his seed spurts into your waiting mouth. You moan, closing your eyes and savoring the taste.
"You sound so beautiful," he sighs.
You smile and swallow, licking your lips.
"I should get cleaned up," you say, wiping the corners of your mouth.
"Yeah," he nods, tucking himself back in his pants and helping you to your feet.
"Mind showing me the Slytherin washrooms again? I think I've forgotten how to get there..."

Her Assistant | Chapter 16 - Still Adjusting
Summary: After losing her family, Natasha Romanoff builds her company from the ground up. During the rise of her company, she decided she needed an assistant, one that works in her office and her house. That's when she saw your resume. After working five years for her, how was it like working for her? Or more importantly, how things progress?
Series Masterlist
Natasha POV
I wasn't expecting Y/N to wake me up this morning especially with what's happening, but what was I thinking? She held her position in high regard, this wouldn't turn her away from doing what she was first instructed.
"Good morning, Miss-... Natasha." She corrected herself mid-sentence. My lips curled when my name rolled off her tongue, and I wished to hear it everyday. "Today's a simple arabica roast. Breakfast is being prepared by Wanda today. It will be served later."
The sweet smile that I had was replaced with a frown, why was she treating me like I was someone to be served. She's serving me as if she has to. There's just a hint of forcefulness that is so uneasy especially when I had just confessed to her. I patted the spot next to me, silently asking her to sit. She took the hint and sat next to me. "Do I make you uncomfortable?" I asked.
Surprised by my question, she shook her head. "No, not at all. It's just that I haven't been in a relationship for a long time and I don't really know what I'm supposed to do." She looked at her fingers as she spoke. I held her hands and she looked up at me.
"You can just treat me as a friend, not your boss." I suggested. "Just treat me like how you treat your friends."
"I don't treat my friends very well." She chuckled. "I don't have much anyway but I haven't seen them for a long time."
"Sorry, I should have given you more time off."
"No it's alright. They are busy too. I think one of them is overseas at the moment. Not sure when she's coming back."
After sitting and talking for a while, Y/N decided it was best to head to the dining area and have the day started. She passed me my clothes for the day before heading to see if Wanda needed any help.
I decided it was best that the entire household went to the office today. I wanted to officially give Wanda and Pietro a position in the company and Bucky could hang around with Y/N. There were lots of things to be done today.
"Do you think it would be a good idea to invite Williams for the launch?" I asked Y/N, not too sure it would be insensitive of me to be discussing business when they were still grieving for the loss of their daughter. Y/N looked at me and for a moment, I thought maybe I shouldn't have asked her as well. "It's okay, I can call to check with them myself."
I raised my phone to call them but Y/N pushed my hand down. "It's better if I call them. The launch is tomorrow right? Do you want them to come to the office first?" I looked at her stunned that she was going to do this.
"Are you okay?" I asked. I was thinking perhaps I shouldn't have rushed her into work so quickly, the launch could wait.
"Tomorrow? In the office?" She repeated her question, avoiding mine.
"Yes please." I watched as she exited the room quietly. I sighed when the atmosphere in the room had changed. Not only was she not experienced being in a relationship, neither was I. I spent the majority of my life building this company and before that, I was just an innocent girl. I pushed this to the back of my head and called Wanda and Pietro in.
From experience, I know after the launch it would be busy and hectic. I have decided to handover this project to Wanda to lead, mostly for the after sales support. I roughly told her what we did for the other projects so she has something to rely on. Mainly, she needed to collect data about the sales and demographics.
I showed Wanda and Pietro the team they were going to be working with. I could tell Pietro was a bit uncomfortable with the dominating number of women in the team but unfortunately I was slightly biased towards hiring women, so he'll just have to deal with it. I'm not sure if any of them are his type though.
"I expect the same level of results for the upcoming launch. Get to know each other well and start work tomorrow. If I hear any unreasonable complaint, be prepared to explain it to me. I wish to see the first report in 3 months."
When I returned to my office, Y/N was already back. She told me that the Williams will be in the office tomorrow early morning before heading to the flagship store for the launch.
"Did they say anything else?"
"They are heading to Germany the day after launch. They told me to update them about the profits. Apparently, Charles' company is assigning him a position there so they have to move." I nodded as she explained. There was a second of sadness in her eyes but she quickly adjusted out of it.
"You have the rest of the day off." I quickly decided. I just couldn't bear to see her trying so hard not to be sad anymore. I don't want her to drown herself in work to forget everything.
"Can I... go to the factory?" I looked at her with her weird request but accepted nonetheless. Being the CEO of a company, there just seem to be never ending things to do. Why isn't it like in the shows where they are allowed to take random leaves or throw their work to someone else without having any repercussions?
>time skip<
Finally, after a few hours it was time to leave the office. I called the factory supervisor to check if Y/N was still there but he said she left long ago.
After Bucky dropped us at our place, I took the car and went to find her. I should probably start to interact more with her friends so I'd have an idea where she is but I heard her friends were busy too.
I drove to the only place where I thought it was possible to find her.
Your POV
I sat there sharing the chocolate with her. I was almost done with mine but hers were still left untouched. "Do you like chocolate?" I asked but she was unable to reply. "I hope you do, I would love it if you're a fan of it but which kid wouldn't like chocolate?"
I took my final bite of chocolate as I sat there. From where I sat, I could hear the footsteps of someone approaching. There was only one person who was able to produce a heavy and light footstep at the same time.
"I knew I would be able to find you here." She said. I turned my head just in time to see Natasha sitting next to me. I didn't say anything and we just sat there in silence for a while.
"I took the first batch of chocolate from the factory. I wanted Evelyn to be able to enjoy them as well." I explained, knowing they would have to do a stock count before distributing to the stores and account for them.
"I understand. Have you eaten anything else?" I shook my head to answer her question. Other than driving to the factory and sitting in my car for a long time gaining the courage to come here, I did nothing else. "Do you want to have dinner with me?" Natasha asked. I just nodded my head and followed along. Since we were both driving, she told me to follow behind her as she led the way.
I looked around the place when we arrived, it didn't look like the place where Natasha would normally visit. I'm not one to judge a place by its looks but I couldn't see Natasha eating here. Natasha saw the look I was giving her. "I used to beg my father to bring us here to eat. I know it's not something you would think I would like but this used to be a privilege for us."
I nodded my head along with her explanation. Even though I may know a bit of her history, largely still remains unknown. Since she has become a prominent figure in the business, lots of reporters wanted to find out more about her but she was able to maintain it largely a secret. I just assumed it was due to her relations with SHIELD that allowed her to remain so invisible.
"The burger here is the best. You wouldn't want to eat anywhere else after this." Natasha excitedly said as she dragged me in. The owner seemed to recognise her and quickly showed us to a booth. "It's been years since I came here, nothing seems to have changed."
It's nowhere near midnight but it was late enough to think that most customers would have returned home by now as only Natasha and I were here along with a few handful of customers. Very quickly, Natasha ordered for the both of us and the dishes were served.
A messy burger is the nicest burger indeed. It was hard to grab the burger as the sauce was dripping, making the burger patty threaten to drop as well. It was hard to eat elegantly but it was not something I had to be aware of with Natasha.
"I love you."
I stared at her like she just made some unbelievable magic trick. Blinking to check if what's in front of me is real. "I know it'll take some time for you to feel the same. I just wanted to let you know."
I swallowed the rest of my burger that was in my mouth before nodding, not knowing how to reply to her confession. From the beginning, I knew that it was going to be her chasing but I didn't think she would say the three words so quickly.
"I hope you know I'm not pressuring you to say anything. We'll take things at your pace." Natasha continued to reassure me as we ate. Was I ready for another relationship? It's been years since I had one. I'm not even sure if it was a mental problem I have to overcome or I was just reluctant in getting into another one.
"What are you going to do about your other friend? You know..." She changed the subject. I had finished the last bite of my burger and was left with the fries.
"I have people watching her, making sure she doesn't leave the country. If she did leave, it'll be a shame that she'll never be able to step anywhere again. She thoroughly demolished my last trust and friendship I have for her." I said while finishing the fries, dipping them into the ketchup sauce.
Natasha POV I froze for a moment listening to her words. Her ability to cut ties and change from a caring friend to someone who kills without a doubt was shocking. Part of me felt it was because of me that she has changed into someone like this. If she didn't accompany me with all the killing and manipulation, would she have been a different person?
"Shall we head back? We have an early day tomorrow." Y/N broke me out of my thoughts and I nodded. She insisted on me getting in the car first before getting in hers. With me driving in front, she claimed to be able to spot more threats and danger. I let her do her job without complaining too much, knowing it'll take some time for her to come out of that shell that I had fit her in.
---
The next day, Y/N woke me up as usual and we went to the flagship store to get ready for the opening. I did one final check on the displays and went through the standard operating procedures with them, making sure they understood everything. My company's main target audience are the children, and they need to be treated differently compared to adults, with more care and understanding.
Once the time's up, we went to the cafe opposite the street to survey the flow. I invited Wanda to come but she was very nervous about this new project she was going to take over so she was in the office with her new team. I have given instructions to the cashiers to use a different carrier when our new product was purchased.  From what I can tell, the sales were going successfully.
"Should we head to the office, Natasha? The Williams should be arriving in a few hours." Y/N reminded me of the appointment we had. I nodded my head and left the cafe together.
As we arrived, I could tell Wanda was in a frantic mess through the glass in the meeting room. Papers covered the tables and drawings on the whiteboard. I hope she's able to bring something new to the company. Perhaps she would be able to see a new trend.I smiled a bit knowing she's learning. It may be a slightly steep learning curve but if she can't handle it then she clearly is the genius that everyone thinks she is and isn't fit for it.
I handled a bit of the paperwork before Y/N told me that the Williams had just arrived at the reception and would be arriving soon. I nodded and cleared my table a bit to welcome them. But I was slightly shocked when Y/N came in with luggage but then I was reminded that they were heading to Germany after the launch. But I never knew it was going to be such a tight schedule.
As I was discussing with Williams where we foresee the sales to be for the next five years, there was a knock on the door. I thought I told them specifically not to disturb me when I'm having a meeting with a client. Y/N went to check who it was and it turned out to be Wanda.
"I'm in a meeting." I curtly told her.
"I know, that's why I'm here." I raised my eyebrow at her reply. "I thought it would be great if there were some numbers and charts alongside to give a better visual idea."
Before I could say anything, Charlie interjected. "That's great. Natasha, you sure have proactive employees. I only wish the employees I am going to lead in Germany are going to be as good." I nodded for Wanda to set up her laptop. Since she was taking the lead, I let her be the one to present the infographics.
"This is Wanda Maximoff. She'll be leading this project from now on and I think it's only appropriate for her to be the one presenting this to you." I sat on the couch with Diana and Charlie as the slides appeared in front of the projector. Wanda was stunned for a moment but regained her composure quickly.
Though having no prior exposure of presenting a project to a client or anyone for that matter, Wanda was able to do a good job presenting the key points. She must have done a great deal of research to be able to present like this.
"Feel free to give her any comments." I said after Wanda had finished. Her presentation may be okay but her delivery of speech could be improved. Usually at the end, when one ends their presentation, they'll open for questions from the floor but Wanda just stood there, failing to indicate her conclusion of her presentation.
"I'd think not only for this product in particular but the entire shop as a whole, the products can be placed at a lower height for the children. Those stores I've been to before seem to have the shelves at the regular heights and the children have to tilt their head up. I think lowering them would make it more personal and attractive." Charlie suggested kindly. I looked towards Diana who has yet to say a single word ever since stepping into this room.
"I think that is a great idea. Our company would hope to implement this in the future to all our stores." Wanda said as she jotted down some notes on her iPad.
"It's been a pleasure to have you here with us today, knowing you're in a rush to head to Germany for your placement." I said as I shook their hands. "All the best for your future." Directing it to both of them.
Y/N went to see them off, leaving me and Wanda alone in the room. Once the door closes, I could hear Wanda releasing her breath. Choosing not to comment on it, I went behind my desk and returned to work. Having the opportunity, I took a glance at her iPad and was shocked to see so many numbers written on it. The day has just started and she was able to collect that much data already?
Unable to resist, I took a better look at her iPad and saw numerous charts and formulas. "You did this?" I questioned.
Wanda nodded and took a seat in front of me. "Pietro configured it so it's always updating in real time. Earlier, Mr William mentioned moving the shelves but I computed that it would cost a lot for all the renovations in the franchise we have. I have an idea if you wish to listen?" Impressed by her speed of working, I nodded my head for her to continue. "There has been research which shows that marketing is not really necessary in an already established company. I was thinking, we could either cut down on marketing or redirect its resources to other departments."
"I'll think about it."
Someone at the door knocked twice and I saw a nervous Bucky entering. My questions were answered when I saw Fury walking in behind him. I silently told both of them to leave us alone. Initially, I wanted to ask them to inform Y/N not to enter as well but I backed out from it. She always seems to know what is it I want anyway.
As per usual, it was about another case that Fury wished for me to tend to. But this case was ridiculous. "Are you serious Nick? Sending me to a grade school. I don't deal with kids." I object to his idea. He can send this request off to someone else.
"I'm not asking you to like them. I just need you to gather information from one of their teachers and that requires hanging around them." He explained.
"No is a no. I'm not going to do it no matter what you say."
He sighed at my unrelentless attempt at budging to his request. "What about this? Disguising as a student in a collage. Someone with a high status went missing mysteriously and I need you to figure out the truth to this." Fury finally changed his mission for me.
"So? Some rich kid went missing and I'm supposed to guide him back like a puppy?" I rolled my eyes. At least it wasn't some kind of toddler I was looking for.
"Not just some rich kid. He's the governor's only son."

Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters
Ship: Atem/Malik/Yugi/OC
Prompt: Feeling at home
Summary: Malik feels confuse having to travel between Japan and Egypt and not knowing where and if he wants to settle. Atem tries to reassure him.
Tumblr media
Malik was conflicted. It was difficult for him to live so far away from his partners. Their contact was mostly made of phone calls and messages, and even these were somewhat difficult on an international scale.
He really loved when they could travel and spend moments together. Like that Valentine’s morning, cuddling in the makeshift bed with his sleeping boyfriends at their girlfriend’s house - although he wished their girlfriend had stayed with them, instead of waking up earlier, but soon she would be back with breakfast in bed for the four of them, and she was the best cook among them, so he wouldn’t complain much - Malik felt at peace.
On the other hand, after everything that had happened, he wasn’t ready to be apart from his siblings for long, either, and he felt equally comfortable in Japan or Egypt, like it didn’t matter where he lived. Despite either bringing him memories of the past everyone insisted he’d better forget.
He thought of getting up and joining Amy in the kitchen to get away from his thoughts of the past, but it was hard to get himself out of the tangle of limbs that the three of them had ended up into without waking his boyfriends. Malik had barely moved when he felt the one at his back stir.
“Did Amy wake you?” Malik shivered upon hearing Atem’s husky voice by his ear.
Malik tried to turn around to face his boyfriend, but Yugi’s hold on him tightened. Atem chuckled.
“No. I woke up before her. Did I wake you?”
“I have been half awake since she left. What is bothering you?”
“Why do you think something is bothering me?”
“Because we never saw you wake up so early on your own when we’re together. Is it because you’re going back home tomorrow?”
At first Malik didn’t want to talk about it. But Atem would understand, right? He was, not only from another country, but from another time. And although most would argue he had no family to go back to because of that, he had been returned to them once, only to be brought back again but, after that, he made no effort to return again, and sometimes Malik had wondered if Atem resented Kaiba for prompting the accident that brought him back to life.
“Malik?” Atem called softly when the silence stretched, loosening his hold to prop himself up on one arm and peek at Malik’s face.
“Do you feel at home here?”
“Of course I do. Wherever I’m with someone I love, I am at home. Yugi taught me that. Do you feel at home?”
“I don’t know. I always felt the same, no matter where I was. In the beginning, everywhere bothered me, but it doesn’t anymore. But even though I’m comfortable everywhere, I’m never fully satisfied, would not only because I have to travel because I miss someone, I’m never satisfied with the place. Do you ever feel like this?”
“Sometimes, especially with the climate. I’m still not used to Domino’s winters. Maybe it is because I haven’t been here for more than a couple of years, at least in my own body, but sometimes I think I’ll never get used to it. There are also different customs of each country that I’m not used to either. But to me, Egypt isn’t very different from a foreign country either, because it is not the place it was in my time anymore.” Atem shifted back to lie down and embrace Malik from behind. “For now, it is okay for you to travel when you feel too bothered, though.”
“But I’ll have to choose, sometime.”
“And when that time comes, the four of us will do so together. And no matter what we chose, we are each other’s home, so we’ll be okay. Don’t you feel at home with us?”
Malik stayed in silence for a moment, not because he doubted his answer, but to enjoy the feeling of both his boyfriends’ holding him.
“There is no place I feel more at home.” He finally said, one hand holding Yugi closer, the other intertwining with one of Atem’s. “But…”
“You have another home with your siblings. That’s fine. We have as many homes as there are people we love. Sometimes we choose one to spend more time with, but that doesn’t invalidate the others.” Atem kissed the back of his neck. “Do you feel better?”
“A little. But I don’t have to worry about it right now. Amy will be here at any moment, and I just want to spend the day with you right now.”
Atem hummed in response, kissing him again. Before it could go too far, though, the door was pushed open and Amy came in, balancing a couple of trays with food.
“Boys, breakfast!” She called, cheerfully.
Yugi just grunted something in response, snuggling against Malik’s chest. Atem sat up and shook him.
“Yugi! Are you planning on sleeping all through Valentine’s?”
“But I’m comfortable here.” Yugi mumbled.
The other three laughed. Nothing unusual for a morning spent together. And Malik hoped these little things would never change.

Chapter 5
unknown visitor
I got up and got ready for school. These past few days have been weird. Turns out there were no birds at Wayne Enterprise now I feel like I wasted Batman time. I walked down stairs and ate breakfast. Bruce had to go to work early because there was a problem he had to fix. After I ate breakfast.
Jason drove me off at school. When I was dropped off. I went to my homeroom class. I sat down in an empty seat, pulled out my notebook and just drew. I thought about the jester and what happened that night. The Jester seemed lonely. I wish I could talk to him more. The bell rang and everyone went to their seats. "Good morning everyone!" Miss Honey said. "I hope you had a good weekend. Today we got a new friend with us, why don't you come up and introduce yourself." Miss Honey said. I got up and walked to the front of the class, "Hi my name is Alex Wilson" I said.
I walked to my set and seat back down.
I didn't want anyone to know that I'm part of the Wayne family so no one would just want to be my friend because I'm Bruce Wayne's daughter. Classes were really boring. I tried paying attention but I couldn't. Too much was on my mind. Time went by, then I had Social studies, then math. Then PE, I like PE classes. It was fun, but there was a kid who would just look at me and wave. He seemed friendly but I wasn't sure. After PE there was science class. In science class the same kid in PE sat next to me. His hair was brown and he had hazel eyes. His hazel eyes reminded me of The Jester. When it was lunchtime I got my lunch box, walked to the lunch room and sat by myself and ate my ppj. "Is it ok if I sit with you?" I looked over and it was the boy that sat with me in Science class."Sure." I said.
He sat down. He had a Batman lunch box. "Nice lunch box." I said. "Thanks, he's my favorite superhero. I would do anything to meet him in person." He said looking at his lunch box. "You know Batman is pretty cool in person." I said without thinking. He looked at me with the same joy I saw before at the flower shop or maybe it was the hazel eyes throwing me off. "You met The Batman?" He said. "Yea, I met him a couple of times." I said. "Amber Gears." He said, putting his hand out. "Alex Wilson." I said, shaking his hand. My stomach started turning when he said Gears, but people can have the same last name even if they are not related.
"Hey Alex I know you're new here so if you have any questions just ask me." Amber said. It was nice having a new friend. I just hope that this will not end like how me and Jun stopped being friends. "Hey you!" I looked over and saw a girl with dark brown hair that was in braids and the ends of her hair were bleached. She wore heavy makeup. "Alex, right? So if you want you can sit with me and some other people if you want." She said, She was very friendly. "Thank you but maybe tomorrow?" I said. She was very surprised it was like no one declined her offer before. "Well ok then." Then She walked away with her face being a little red. "Holy cow, that was Clover Starway!" Amber said. "Who?" "Clover Starway, she is the most popular girl in school and the most kind and beautiful girl in school." Amber said with his face turning a little bit red. It made me wonder if Amber had a crush on Clover?
After we finished eating lunch, me and Amber kept on talking until we got in the classroom. Amber invited me to go to the comic book store. I told him I would have to call my brother, Jason and ask if I could, because he's the one picking me up from school. I told Jason and he said he wanted to go to the comic book store as well. I told him sure. The thing is I have never been to a comic book store but my dad would tell me stories about the super hero mostly about Batman and how he would stop this group of thieves. It was almost like dad was there, maybe fighting alongside Batman. After school we got picked up and drove to the comic book store. We found a place to park and got out. We walked in and Amber looked everywhere and I just browsed around. I didn't find anything that interests me, but Amber found some comics that he likes reading. The comic book was about a hero who was very smart Technology and could hack into any. It seems like Amber looked up to this comic book hero. After the comic book store we drove to "Bod Auto mechanics". It turned out he lives with his uncle who was a Mechanic. We walked into the car shop. "Uncle I'm here!" Amber said. There was no response. Amber looked a little worried. "Uncle I'm here!" Amber said again. "Uncle?" He then ran into the area where the cars would be worked on. There were some tools on the ground and a hat with the word "Bob" on the hat. Amber picked up the hat and held it. "This is my uncle's hat, he doesn't go anywhere without it." He said. I looked around and saw a robin feather. "Jason?" I said looking at him. He walked over to me and I showed him the Robin feather. "He was here."

Disappearance III
Character: Childe, gn!reader
Word Count: 2,581
Warnings: None
Premise: In which there is an argument and the reader disappears.
Author’s Note: Childe my favorite character, how I love to torture you.
But genuinely I really like how this one came out.
Childe
Childe craned his neck to stare at the clock on the wall behind him. Sighing at the lateness of the afternoon he turned back towards the papers in his lap, trying desperately to focus, to not let his thoughts drift off to the argument that had taken place in the morning.
It had started out simple enough. Childe had informed you that he might be gone for some time, as the Tsaritsa had requested a high-level reconnaissance mission, and Childe was to be the one to lead it. He thought that you react much the way that you always had, assurances of his success, light-hearted reminders to stay safe, and a goodbye kiss as you two settled back into a normal routine before the day of departure. Instead however, your lips had slanted into a frown, and you stopped making your breakfast to turn and face your partner.
“Childe, I wish you wouldn’t always take things on yourself.”
“What do you mean darling?” Childe felt a wave of surprise wash over him. After all, what else was he supposed to do?
“I mean that you’re being entirely too reckless Childe. You know that you have too high a profile to be doing stuff like this. I… I would like you to sit this one out. Just this one.”
Childe couldn’t help but laugh, whether out of irritation or genuine amusement he wasn’t sure of. “As much as I appreciate the concern, I can’t do that. No leader worth their salt would send their underlings off alone, even if they are some of the weakest underlings in the world. No one’s been able to pull the wool over me yet darling, it’ll be perfectly alright.”
“You’re not listening to me,” your voice picked up in intensity. “Childe I really try, I try to remind myself that you’re a Harbinger and able to take care of yourself; but sometimes it’s just too much. This is too much.”
“You’re being silly,” Childe said, trying to keep his tone light. “I’ll be fine. Besides, I can’t disobey the Tsaritsa. She wishes me to do this so I will. It’s as simple as that.”
“The Tsaritsa is far away, she has hundreds, thousands under her command. She won’t bat an eye at your safety.”
“Like you said, I can take care of myself.”
“But what if one day you can’t? What if, what if one day you don’t come back. Please, just this once; just this once don’t go.”
“I know that the length of time is upsetting, but you can’t react like this every time I have to go away for a while. I promise that you’ll have me all to yourself afterwards.”
“It’s not about that Childe! Please, please listen to me. I’m worried about your safety. I’m worried one of these days you’re going to end up in a fight too big even for you. What will you do then? What will your underlings do? What will I do? Please, tell the Tsaritsa you have to stay and make sure the Bank stays out of trouble, or that nothing happens in Liyue. Please, don’t go this time.”
“You’re being irrational.” By now Childe was definitely irritated.
“No, I’m being realistic. You don’t take care of yourself enough.”
“You’re just underestimating me. Besides, I’m a better fighter than you’ll ever be. It’s not like you can protect me even if I stayed here.”
“What?”
“It’s not like staying in Liyue would be any safer, better to face things head on. For the Tsaritsa, for Snezhnaya, that is the most important thing. If you can’t see that, you’re just being stupid.”
Although Childe regretted the words almost immediately after they left his mouth he could see that saying that would’ve had no effect. So instead he watched silently as your face clouded over and you stormed out the door, not bothering to grab your food as you slung your pack around you back and walked out. A part of him wanted to call after you, but he knew that even if he did you probably wouldn’t listen. Even if you did, what could he say? After all, he had simply spoken the truth; even if you couldn’t accept it as such.
Now Childe sat on the couch, eyes glazing voer as he stared at all the paperwork that needed to be done before his mission. He had already spent a hectic, uneasy day at the bank. Though he knew that none of his underlings would be foolish enough to try to pull something while he was gone, Andrei would make sure of that and Childe would make sure of Andrei, it was still tedious, boring work. This was in no way helped by the lingering ill will from his fight with you earlier. Though Childe ultimately forgot fights relatively quickly the time right after was always an uneasy one, filled with sudden flashes of irritation replaced suddenly by the wish for it all to have never happened.
He had hoped that you might be home by the time he arrived, but your absence wasn’t truly much of a surprise. Besides the fact that you were still probably angry with him, something Childe couldn’t really fault, you had recently been involved with some project near the Chasm, and it was hardly surprising that something that big caused you late hours. Still he couldn’t deny the fact that he was somewhat disappointed, or maybe disheartened was a better way to put it. He hated fighting with you, especially fights that lasted. Even if he was irritated with you, even if he thought that you had demanded something impossible, he still regretted snapping at you. He just wanted you to come home now, that way he could apologize and explain the situation better. That way he wouldn’t leave with any ill will behind him.
The clock was excruciatingly slow, but the insult of that wasn’t registered until Childe dozed off. Waking up in the middle of the night he was surprised at your continued absence. Though he had expected that sleeping on the couch might’ve happened, your total disappearance was certainly something that threw him for a loop. Making his way to the bedroom and flopping down on the bed Childe closed his eyes, pushing away the anxiety that clustered at the edge of his thoughts.
Perhaps you’d ended up staying with Hu Tao, or maybe you’d gone back home to your family. He had been awfully mean after all, and you were never the kind of person to take his insults sitting down. Still, if that were true why hadn’t you packed more, or come back to collect your things? It didn’t make any sense. Questions and half baked reasonings floated through Childe head as he tried to delay the inevitable pull of sleep. The last conscious thought he could remember was the knowledge that at least you would be back tomorrow.
You were not, in fact, home tomorrow. The Harbinger’s time spent at the Northland Bank was almost completely useless, the meeting with the people he’d be going on his mission with even more so. Though Childe wasn’t necessarily the most attentive listener, often letting his mind wander when his fellow Fatui members fell into arguing about the most insipid things, he knew that paying attention to a plan as a whole was critical to its success. Even so he couldn’t bring his mind to focus on the maps and profiles that sat in front of him. Where were you? It seemed like such a silly question, but the longer it floated in Childe’s head the colder he felt.
Finally the meetings and the menial tasks ended and Childe could go home. Sprinting down the winding streets of Liyue, not bothering to hide the fact he was in a hurry, Childe burst into the apartment. His heart sank as he was met with the same image he’d seen when he’d left that morning.
Afterwards Childe wandered around the docks of Liyue, trying to keep the quickly fragmenting pieces of his mind together. He knew that he was probably overreacting, knew that you were simply staying away because of what he said, knew that it wouldn’t be forever – you would have definitely told him if that were the case. Still he couldn’t help but feel dread crawling over him, saturating the cracks of his brain as he wondered how he’d managed to fuck everything up so much. He had underestimate how much his words must have affected you, and that only made him feel worse. Finally exhausting his walk along the pier Childe set off towards the edges of the city and into the vast wilderness of Liyue. He needed to find something to fight.
The nightmare continued on into the next day, then into the day after that. Childe could barely remember what he did during those days, walking around as if possessed, unable to concentrate on anything for more than a few moments before his thoughts inevitably found their way back to you. Mostly Childe ended up sleeping, dozing off at his desk or on the couch, papers fluttering from his hands onto the floor. Mostly Childe dreamed of you.
They weren’t dreams of any particular note, their contents incredibly mundane. Not that it matter to Childe; within those dreams he felt nothing but happy domesticity, a calm that washed over him as he walked with you to the market or lay next to you under the stars. Always you would appear in his dreams suddenly, and always he would throw his arms around you, clinging to you as if even an embrace wasn’t enough. Always he woke up with a sense of desolation so vast it threatened to consume him.
Finally on the fifth day Childe couldn’t take it anymore. Waking up at almost the crack of dawn the Harbinger rushed to the Bank. He wouldn’t stay long, only enough to inform Andrei that he’d be out for the day. Then he’d go to the Guild and check and make sure everything was okay. Then, well he’d figure out what to do then. It seemed pathetic to chase after you, not to mention gross. He wouldn’t become a stalker, wouldn’t let himself fall into such pathetic behavior. Still, he had to make sure you were at least okay. As long as he did that, well, the rest could come later.
Striding into the Bank Childe was met with a surprising sight. Normally Ekaterina stayed firmly tucked inside her receptionist cubby, even more antisocial than the likes of the Balladeer or the Fatui that guarded Dragonspine. Now however she stood at the front of the booth, wringing her hands this way and that as she stared at a piece of paper in front of her. Feeling a sudden sense of dread Childe walked up to her.
“Ekaterina?”
“Oh!” Ekaterina whirled around, look on her face one of utter anxiety. “My lord, I was horrified to hear of the news, tell me, do you know if they’re almost free?”
“What are you talking about?” Childe narrowed his eyes.
“Why, your partner. I only heard today from Nadia; no wonder you’ve been so distant recently, if it’s not too much for me to say so. I only hope that they’ll soon be rescued, I’m sure you know about the situation better than I do though.”
“Ekaterina, what in the Tsaritsa’s name are you talking about?”
A shadow passed over Ekaterina’s face, a look of utter dread. Swallowing slightly she stared at a spot in the wall right to the side of Childe. “You partner, my lord, I’ve been informed that they have become trapped in one of the caverns of the Chasm. I thought that you knew about it, it’s been five days after a–”
Childe didn’t hear the rest of what Ekaterina had to say. Whirling around the Harbinger slammed his way out of the bank, aiming towards the nearest waypoint. Cold dread washed over him and with it desperate determination. He’d rescue you. If he had to tear apart the entire Chasm and raze all the mountains in Liyue to the ground so be it.
Approaching the Chasm Childe felt a rush of adrenaline wash over him. He was terrified. By the Seven, he was utterly terrified. Images of you flashed in his mind, images of you cowering in the dark, stuck at the bottom of an endless pit, lying on the ground with no air or food or life in you. How could he have let this happen? How could he have not known of this before? Anger burned within Childe, anger at himself. He should have never let you walk out of your apartment without apologizing first. He should have enquired after you after the first night you didn’t show up. He should’ve been the first person there for you, instead of the last person to know. He was so utterly stupid.
Approaching what must’ve been the site of the accident Childe felt his stomach drop to his feet at the sight of you. You were covered in dirt, cuts spread across your arms and legs as you slumped against a Guild member, dragging your feet in an awkward shuffle towards the stretcher that must’ve been meant to bring you to the apothecary. There were a variety of Guild members flocking around you, along with one of the doctors of Liyue, who was scribbling notes down furiously. Your expression was utterly dazed, as if you weren’t exactly sure of what was going on, something that tore Childe apart.
Stepping towards you Childe called out your name. At the sound your head jerked up, and you gave a hoarse sort of cry before turning to make your way towards him. Sprinting towards you Childe stepped backwards as you fell awkwardly into him. Steadying you for a moment before wrapping his arms around you Childe felt all his emotions crashing over him, so intense that he couldn’t control them anymore. Ignoring the tears that tracked their way down his cheeks the Harbinger let out a shudder.
“Thank the Seven, thank the Seven you’re safe. I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry. You don’t have to forgive me, alright? You don’t have to forgive me, but by the gods I’m so sorry.”
“I wish you had been there,” you mumbled softly. “It was so dark, I couldn’t see anything. I thought, I thought that I might never see you again.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry I said all those things to you, I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you, I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you.”
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not fine. You should’ve fold so easily you know, you should be really, really angry at me.”
“I don’t want to be angry at you though, I just want you to stay.”
“Then I will,” Childe tightened his embrace around you. “I promise I will.”
“Okay.”
Having apparently said everything that had to be said you let Childe sling you onto his back, refusing to be carried to the hospital in the stretcher. As you appeared to doze off on his back Childe made a promise to himself. Even if he couldn’t disobey the Tsaritsa, even if he couldn’t change who he was, he would never leave you when you needed him to be there.
You would never find yourself needing him to be there without the chance of your need being met. That he promised you.

Just Get Out
Prompt: After John dies, Dean and Sam take it upon themselves to look after you, but...
Dean: 18
Sam: 14
Y/N: 7
Word Count: 2,030
It's just been a month since your dad, John Winchester died, and all you have left family wise are your older brothers Sam and Dean. You didn't know what death really meant since you are so young, but your brothers knew, and they knew too well. Since you were seven your dad didn't really let you in on what he and your brothers did, all you know is that you and sometimes Sam get left at a motel for a while and they come back bloody and bruised. So when John died, Sam and Dean don't really talk as much as they used to, but for you, they really do try.
What you did know is how to practically annoy the hell out of them...well...sometimes. You are mostly a good kid according to Sam, who decided to take on the 'motherly' role, and Dean the 'fatherly' role. When Dean turned 18, he decided on his own to drop out of high school, but you and Sam are still in school, and Sam plans to keep it that way.
  Okay now onto the story
Its 7:36pm, Sam went to the library for homework, so tonight is just you and Dean. You and Dean are in the kitchen and hes making dinner while you sit on the kitchen table. "Alright Y/N, we don't got much tonight, so I'm making mac and cheese...the good kind, not the kind Sam makes," Dean says with a tiny smirk.
"But De, I don't want macky cheese, I want chicken!" You say with a small but excited voice. Dean turns back to you, frowns and says "Y/N, we dont have chicken, this is all we got until Sam goes to the store."
"Wait what!?!?! But De I want chicken now!!" you say filled with whine and a little bit of sass. 'geez I really don't want to deal with this right now,' Dean thinks to himself "Y/N please, just reason with me tonight, I'll make Sam go to the store tomorrow," He says sounding defeated. Oh but hell no, in your tiny seven year old brain, you knew what you had to do
Step 1: Be quiet and wait like a good sister
Step 2: Once De is done and sets food in front of you
Step 3: PUSH IT OFF ON THE FLOOR
Step 4: Wait hold on-
Step 5: Why does De look like hes about to ye-
"Fucking hell, really Y/N!? You cant be fucking serious, what the hell was that for?" Dean yells at you. "De I said I wanted-" But he cut you off and said "I JUST TOLD YOU THIS IS ALL WE GOT" He says louder than his first statement. Now your'e shaken, but you know it takes more to make you cry.
  "I don't care! I don't want macky cheese De!"
  "Y/N, just get out"
...This is the calmest hes been all week
  "Wha-"
"JUST GET THE HELL OUT" Dean practically screams.
Okay now that there is starting to make you cry
You quickly get off of the kitchen chair and you bolt to the stairs where all the bedrooms are. But of course you have to turn around and yell
"I WISH DAD WAS HERE, HE WOULD GET REAL MAD IF YOU YELLED AT ME!" and then you run up the stairs and slam your door shut, locking it in the process. _______________________________________
'Great that's just fuckin' perfect,' Dean thinks to himself. 'What the hell am I supposed to tell Sammy? Oh yeah, I screamed at Y/N because she wouldn't comply, and now foods all over the floor and I think I'm having a meltdown!'
'Sometimes I wish I never came here!' you think to yourself, pretty much sobbing while laying down on your bed. 'wouldn't be surprised if he didn't want me here too-."
You fall asleep shortly after the thought and Dean couldn't be any more relieved when he hears the door open and to see Sam with his backpack in one arm and a couple books in the other hand.
"Hey whats-...what happened?" Sam says slowly putting his backpack on the floor. Sam staring at Dean and all the food that's on the floor around him "oh, haha, this? oh, its nothing Sam, just a minor fuckin' mishap!" Dean says laughing through each word with eyes that look like hes about to sob any minute.
"....Dean?" Sam asks. Its been a while since there was major conflict... well since the whole situation with Dad anyways. "Was it Y/N?"
"What? No of course not, this is just a normal Friday fuckin night....yeah just, don't worry 'bout it" Dean says with his voice dying down a little bit.
"Should I go talk to her?" Sam asks. such a small voice but its filled with a lot of concern.
"No, she's asleep...maybe later?" Dean says back to him. 'He seems tired' Sam thinks to himself. 'Well I did leave her here with him...' _______________________________________
You wake up pretty early... well early for you anyways, its 9:30am and you got woken up to puffy red eyes and really messed up hair. You go ahead and leave your bedroom and when you enter the kitchen you get greeted by Sam, who is making breakfast.
"Morning sunshine," Sam says with a slight happy tone, but still pretty monotone. 'he's trying, that's a good thing' you think to yourself.
"Morning..." you say back, rubbing your eyes and climbing up onto the chair near the kitchen table. "So...wheres De?" you ask in a sleepy tone. "He's more or less still asleep" Sam replies. Sure enough right when Sam says that, Dean walks in all sleepy-like too. 'so similar' Sam thinks. "Morning to you too sunshine" Sam says with a pretty wide grin afterwards. "Bite me, princess" Dean shoots back, also with a small smirk.
You look at Dean, Dean looks at you, and a couple seconds later you two look away, but the stare you two gave felt like it was forever.
"Hi" you managed to squeak out. Without meaning to, you were quiet and a little bit nervous.
"Hey" Dean replies, but not looking at you, instead looking at the table, then to his hands, and then to Sam.
"Hey Sammy, do you think dad had any hunts that he wrote down in his journal for us to do?" Dean asks. Looking around Dean finds your dads journal on the couch in the living room. He picks it up and skims through the pages.
"I...don't know? Dad never talked to me personally about hunts, just you" Sam says as a matter-of-factly. Sam sets your breakfast down in front of you, and a plate for Dean on the other side of the table. "Why?" Sam asks.
"Because I want to hunt? We haven't in a while and you know dad will tear us a new one if he sees us on our asses doing nothing," Dean proclaims, in a slight aggressive manner, though it was almost accidental.
"But he's...not here," you say out loud without meaning to. You look up to see Sam and Dean both looking at you, and right then you look back down. While looking down you hear footsteps, and right when you look back up, you see Dean staring right at you. 'The eye contact is unbearable' you think to yourself
"Just because hes dead, doesn't mean we can just fuck around and do nothing," Dean says with so much venom you begin to shake a little.
"Dean. Back. Up." Sam says, looking at Dean with an angry look and his teeth practically glued together. Sam takes Deans shoulder and yanks him back, and he makes Dean bend down so he can whisper something into his ear.
"I know you and Y/N have this personal issue going on right now, but I'll be damned if I ever hear you talk to her like that again, hear me?" Sam whispers, he lets go of Dean shoulder and looks at Dean. Dean looks back at him, looks at you, looks at Sam again, and nods, running his hand through his hair.
"Good," Sam says quietly. Sam walks towards you and bends down, "When you're finished with your breakfast, head on up to your room, you're not in trouble, but I'll talk with you later, okay?" Sam tells you,
"Okay" You say, looking at Sam. You finished your breakfast rather quickly. During that time, Dean went into his own room, and Sam went out into the backyard to do whatever he does, you're not really sure. You put your dirty plates into the sink and you fast walk to your room, and you quietly shut your door. _______________________________________
Waiting.....sucks. You have no clue how long you waited for Sam but it felt like forever. In reality it was probably like thirty minutes, but thirty minutes to a seven year old is all day.
You begin to space out when you hear a small knock on your door. You jump a bit because you didn't really expect it since you didn't know when Sam would come by.
You get up off your bed and you begin to walk to your door when the door was already opening. you stop and look up
"...Dean?" You ask. 'uh-oh' you think to yourself. You walk back a little bit and he sits down on your bedroom floor and holds his arms out for you to come sit in his lap. He hasn't said a word yet you heard exactly what he is wanting to ask.
You look at him. He looks at you. Both have no clue what to say to each other.
You slowly walk towards him, and you climb into his lap, both getting comfortable in the process
It had to have been like five minutes before Dean starts talking. "I'm sorry" he says to you. Smiling, you start talking too. "Me too" you say and you look up to see Dean beginning to tear up.
Okay now its time to panic
Dean crying is something that you never see so...you begin to tear up too.
  "De? Are you okay?"
"I wish Dad was here, He would get real mad at me if he saw the way I was acting" Dean says. "Wouldn't be surprised if he beat my ass, just because I'm eighteen, doesn't mean shit to him" he says with a small laugh after the comment.
"Well I think you're doing a good job" You say to him quietly, but loud enough for him to hear. "Just because you're eighteen, doesn't mean you aren't bad at being a brother, neither is Sam" You add.
Dean, trying not to just sob in front of you, breaths in and breaths out a couple of times.
"You're seven, when did you become so smart?" Dean asks hugging you rather tightly
You giggle at his comment and say, "I'm your sister, I had to have learned something from you."
  "Good answer" Dean says.
Without knowing, Sam is leaning on the door frame, with his arms crossed looking at you and Dean with the biggest smile ever. "Hey," Sam says and makes both you and Dean jump slightly, Sam giggles and that and continues,
"The garage called, they want you to come in and help fix a 67' Mustang," Sam says.
"Oh whaaat," you whine. you begin to get off of Dean so he can go to his job when he quickly snatches you back up, gets up off of the ground and throws you over his shoulders.
"How do you feel about coming with me? Who knows maybe-"
"Will Seth be there?" You ask excitedly. (For some backstory, John's long time friend Seth works where Dean works, and ever since you met Seth, you've practically 'fallen in love' with him)
"More than likely, he likes old cars like we do," Dean replies. "Yes! okay come on, lets go, come on, come on, come on" You say, trying to hurry up Dean,
"Okay, okay, lets go" Dean laughs while replying. You two leave the room, and Sam closes your door. Again, with a big smile on his face, Sam starts thinking to himself, 'Yeah, everything will be okay'

sick day | tsukishima kei
pairing: tsukishima kei x gn!reader  word count, genre: 1.7k words, college au, fluff, childhood friends to maybe lovers.  warning: none!  summary: you and tsukishima have been friends for as long as the both of you can remember. and when you’re down with the flu, he’s left with no choice but to take care of you.
Tumblr media
“Can you drop by their home and give them this paper?”
Tsukishima stares blankly at the piece of paper and back at the girl who approached him. He hasn’t even gotten up from his chair when Yachi stopped him.
He already knows who she was referring to and was quick to turn her down. “Move. I’m packing my bag.”
The girl grumbles, moving out of the way but continues, “Come on! You know where they live.”
“Correction, you know it too.” Tsukishima retorts. He walks past her, striding with his long legs over to the door and exiting. But Yachi was hot on his trail. “Why don’t you do it yourself?”
Yachi groans, “I would but I’m too busy with the school paper right now. I have to head to the office to assist in lay-outing this month’s release.” She stops in her tracks, catching Tsukishima’s wrist and turning him around. “You live in the same neighborhood. Please, I promise I’ll repay you.”
She waves the paper in front of him, and eventually, he’s left with no choice but to do the task. He sighs before snatching the form and turning on his heel, “You owe me.”

As he walks the familiar route towards home, he wonders about the last time he saw you in campus. It had actually been three days since then. Worried, his mind runs about hundreds of possibilities about why you hadn’t showed up in classes.
The only possible thing that he could think of was that you were down with a flu. This predicament that he was in right now oddly reminds him of a time in middle school when you were absent for a week because of a severe cold. Growing up, he’s noticed that you were extremely prone to getting sick and Tsukishima always berates you for not taking care of yourself properly. Especially during flu season.
When he passes by a convenience store, he decides to buy some instant porridge, water, and medicine. He wonders if your family were at home but gets the answer that he was looking for when he’s arrived in front of your house with the lights off.
He eyes the building and notices the faint light coming from the side which he knows was your room.
Tsukishima enters the door, unlocking it with ease as he inputs the passcode he’s known since the both of you were kids. He feels for the switch on the wall and turns the lights open.
He makes his way to the kitchen and places everything on the counter. He’s in the process of boiling some water when he hears footsteps walking closer.
“Who’s there?” Your voice sounds weak and when Tsukishima turns, he sees you, cozily bundled in a hoodie and holding on to a blanket as you lean on the wall for support.
He’s quick on his feet to help and sit you down on a chair. “You shouldn’t have left your bed,” he mutters under his breath.
You recognize the voice, “Kei? What are you doing here?”
He was back on the counter, opening the pack of porridge and filling it with water to cook for five minutes. He hands you a glass of water and you down it. “Yachi told me to tell you about our final project in Literature.” He takes the paper from his bag and sticks it on the refrigerator with a magnet. “Here’s the reference. Don’t lose it.”
You manage to let out a small chuckle. “Look at you, being kind for once.”
“Shut up.” But his words say otherwise when the look in his eyes are soft, watching over you to make sure you didn’t fall from the chair. “Where’s everybody?”
You put your head on the table and groan. “They’re out to visit the grandparents in the countryside. Said I couldn’t make it because of school requirements but here I am.”
“You’ve been alone this whole time?”
“Yeah,” you say with a yawn.
He tuts at you to show his disapproval, “Why didn’t you tell anyone you were sick?”
“Eh, no one would have bothered anyway.”
He hands you the hot dish and you take it with a whispered thanks. You devour it in silence, relishing in the warmth that fills your body. Tsukishima hangs back, saying nothing and only observes as you eat what looks like the first decent meal you’ve had since you’ve been sick.
“I would.”
His sudden answer almost makes you sputter the food out from your mouth. You look at him, and though it was dark, you could make out his features and the way he was staring at you with such intensity.
“I mean, I’m here now, aren’t I?” He takes a seat beside you, taking the cup from your hands and feeding you the last few scoops. “My parents would have made me come here either way to check on you.”
You curse the way your heart flutters at his words. The heat on your cheeks not anymore caused by your fever but by Tsukishima who was sitting way too close for your comfort and helping you finish the porridge. After he gives you the medicine, he extends his arm out and you look at him in question.
“Come on, I’m bringing you back to your room.” When you don’t make a move, he pulls you up to your feet and hooks one arm around your waist to keep you steady by his side. The two of you begin the slow trek to your room.
He’s careful to lay you down on the mattress, cradling your head as he fluffs and positions the pillow under you. You seem to be already lost in your dreams when he pulls the blanket over your body, tucking you in and making sure you were warm. When he’s done, he kneels down by the side of your bed and gazes at you.
He’s transfixed on memorizing the outlines of your face—the one thing he’d never admit he always liked to do whenever he went to your house for sleepovers years ago. Absentmindedly, he traces your features, sighing as he wanted so badly to tell you off about not properly taking care of yourself.
“Kei.”
Surprised, he pulls back his hand, “What?” He knows you’d tease him to no end when you saw what he was doing.
“You should be like this all the time,” you say sleepily with a smile. “Who knew you had a sweet and caring side in you?”
He smirks, “Don’t push your luck.” He puts the back of his hand on your forehead to determine whether your fever has gone down. It was still hotter than normal and Tsukishima only sighs, “You should really learn to look after yourself.”
Burying yourself deeper in the blankets, you hum, “But I like having you take care of me.”
He’s surprised, mostly at the way your voice sounded so calm and soft when you said those words. Because he knows that on any other day, you’d have responded with a smart quip and maybe a punch to his arm. He’s aware it could be the flu talking, making you bare your true feelings similarly to how a drunk man would reveal their sober thoughts. But will you remember them when you wake up tomorrow?
He laughs quietly before leaning to press a kiss to your temple, “I don’t mind it too.”
But you were already fast asleep to have heard anything.
The following day, you woke up as if you never had intense fever the night before. The bad headache and chills that you felt was gone and you could move your body without feeling heavy. So not wanting to miss out more on lectures, you got ready and finally went back to school.
To say that Yachi was overjoyed to see you was an understatement. Your friend sighed of relief and ran to tackle you with a hug the second she saw you step foot on campus. She caught you up to speed about everything that has happened and the tasks that your professors on your shared classes has assigned.
The two of you were settling in your seats when she remembers, “By the way, did you receive the paper about our Literature project? I had Tsukishima bring it to you.”
“Really? I didn’t receive anything.”
And just as she was about to complain about Tsukishima, the door opens loudly and the said boy enters the room.
“Oh, Kei! Great timing, we were just talking about you,” you greeted as your childhood friend headed straight to your desks.
Meanwhile, Yachi complained, “Tsukishima, I told you to pass over the reference to them.”
The boy just walked past her, and stopped in front of you. He stuck out a pack of banana milk (your favorite drink) and some fruits, making you confused at the sudden gesture.
“What’s this?”
“You skip your breakfasts, right?” You were shocked that he knew about your unhealthy habit. “I don’t want you getting sick again so make sure you eat properly.”
Yachi’s jaw dropped at his nice attitude. You’re wary as you take drink and snacks from his hand, looking at him as if he grew another head on his body. “You’re being suspicious, Kei. What do you need?”
He takes the seat beside you, laughing when he turns towards you with a wicked smile that has your heart beating faster.
“I’m just doing what I need to do as your friend.” He resumes to fix his things on the table. “Besides, weren’t you the one who said you liked me taking care of you?”
You stutter, cheeks feeling hot as vague snippets from when Kei visited you and took care of you came flashing in your mind. Yachi was now giggling and congratulating you for finally confessing. As you watched the grin on his face, you wished for a hole to appear on the ground and swallow you whole.
Because your crush on your longtime childhood friend was something you never wanted him to know.
But that thought was quickly erased when Tsukishima leaned close and whispered,
“For what it’s worth, I like you too.”
And since then, Tsukishima started keeping you close and took care of you in the little ways he knows how just so you never have to experience a sick day again.

Part 4 of Wonderful! Au! This one isn’t an episode! And It’s not funny! It does, however,  provide the context around Part 3! Also, Jon signs in this one, and sign languages have their own grammar and structure, but I display his signs translated into English and denote them with <> instead of “”. Here goes!
~*~
When, two days ago, Jon woke up gasping at 3 am, Martin didn’t think anything of it. Their nightmares were much like their chronic headaches: sometimes occurring daily, sometimes going weeks in without showing up. They were uncomfortable, surely, and sometimes had lingering effects, but there was a routine to them that took away much of their sting.
When he then throws off the covers, grabs the pack of cigarettes that only gets touched maybe three times a year, and makes a beeline for their balcony, Martin realizes that something worse is going on. Dread starting to settle in his stomach, he attempts to stave it off through action. He grabs the comforter  and puts on a pair of slippers, going to accompany Jon. The early morning spring air is bracing enough to someone like himself, who, barring a certain deeply unpleasant year, had always run hot, it must be awful for the heat sink that is Jon. Sure enough, he finds Jon shifting on his feet, trying not to shiver too much as he’s handling the lighter.
Getting closer, while still allowing Jon breathing room, he offers over the blanket with a gentle smile and gentler words “Wanna talk about it?”
Jon doesn’t take the blanket. Jon doesn’t even look at him. “Talking to you has often been the problem, so no, thank you.”
Oof. Instinct tells him to react with a matching tone, to jab right back. That instinct is one that he’s long learned to ignore. Instead, he wraps the blanket around his own shoulders and replies with a certain level of blitheness, “Huh. Probably shouldn’t have married me then.”
Jon’s shoulders slump, and the harsh lines of his features soften. He still, however, won’t look at Martin. “Sorry, that was...a poor way of phrasing things. Sometimes I just think..”
There’s a silence between them for a few seconds as Martin waits for him to expand on the thought. When he doesn’t, Martin prompts, “Yes?”
Jon sighs with all of himself, before taking a drag of his cigarette. “Four years ago. If you hadn’t been there, I think I would’ve gone through with it. I’m glad for the life we got to build afterwards, but. Sometimes it feels as though I’m being rewarded for failure. Or perhaps, more accurately, for compliance.”
Four years ago. Four years ago exactly. The date dawns on Martin, simultaneously the worst day of their lives, and the day of their freedom from the fears. The realization makes him understand why Jon’s treading the ruts of a worn out argument, a old ache. These days, Martin doesn’t have much to say on the matter. He thinks the second Fucking Jonah Magnus opened the door, and that it was Fucking Jonah Magnus who did it, they no longer had any right choices to make. No matter what way they did the math, the outcome was always going to be terrible. However, when he wakes up warm, with their cat curled up at their feet and his husband curled into his side, he can regret the build up all he likes, but he can’t deny his joy at how it, eventually, all shook out. “Reward would imply intent, and I don’t think what we have now was orchestrated by anything other than ourselves. It’s not like the web promised us a summer wedding if we finished opening the rift.”
It’s too early to have the conversation. Jon seems to realize this at the same time that Martin does, because he snuffs out his cigarette on the railing, and says he’s going back to bed.
Four hours later, Jon leaves the apartment. He doesn’t say where he’s going, and Martin doesn’t ask. In the past, it would’ve been enough for his anxiety to spike, for the insidious thoughts of “this is it, he’s finally sick of me, always knew this would happen,” to circulate. He’s mostly able to stave off that way, able to come to the rational conclusion that this day was hard every year, and that they both needed space to process, that they weren’t even fighting, really. Mostly. He still has to keep himself busy to stave off the worst of it. The sardonic part of himself notes that their apartment’s always sparkling when they’re at their lowest, stress cleaning a habit the two of them share.
Jon gets home close to midnight, and doesn’t look at him as he falls asleep. On the couch. Maybe they’re fighting after all. Martin wishes someone had told him.
This morning, Martin wakes up cold for the first time in months. Blearily, he makes his way towards the kitchen, and finds Jon upright and scrolling on his phone. The bags under his eyes suggest he slept about as well as Martin. He looks up, at Martin, when he walks by, which is a marked improvement. Martin stops in his tracks, and he wants to think of something easy to say. He wants to offer tea or breakfast, he wants to give reassurances, he wants to remain steadfast in his conviction that saving their former world and ending up somewhere else was the best move, he want to smoothly open up discussion. Instead, he blurts out the question that’s been keeping him tossing and turning for the past several hours. “Are we okay?”
Jon opens his mouth, closes it, and lets out a frustrated huff through his nose. He raises his hand in a fist and nods with it. <Yes.>
Inanely, he asks, “Are you okay?,” which only gets him a flat stare before Jon signs <I’m getting some damn sleep.> and shoves past Martin to what is supposed to be their shared bed. Martin lets him, for now, but they’re going to clear out some of the tension this afternoon.
He makes the elective decision to record the episode by himself. He supposes he could send out a tweet telling their audience it’s an off week, but he wants to record it, both for himself and for Jon. After he’s done, he does a three knocks in rapid succession on the doorframe of the bedroom, a code they had established, god, back in the Prentiss days to let the other know it was them. Jon stirs under the covers, so he asks, “Can I come in?”
A hand rises up, giving the same nod as earlier. Before he walks in, however, he also asks, “Can I join you on the bed?”
<Yes.>
Martin crawls in next to him, and Jon immediately turns over to face him. Before he says anything, Jon signs <I love you.>
“I love you too. Hey, did..did you hear me recording?”
<No. You did an episode solo?>
“Yeah. Sort of figured you weren’t up for it.”
Jon shrugs and gives a tilt of his head that Martin reads as “Fair.” <What’s it about?>
Martin gives a shit-eating grin, the first smile hes given in the past two days. “It’s a surprise.”
Jon sticks out his tongue at him, which makes some of the weight on his lungs lift. “It’s also not what we need to discuss. What’s been going on, my love?”
<Same old, same old. Crushing guilt, swells of regret, the general feeling that I don’t deserve this life. I’ll get past it again. It’s just hard, this time of year.>
Martin knew all that already, but, “There’s something else though, this time, isn’t there?”
Jon drops his eyes down to his hands, which he keeps resolutely still. With nothing but an earnest plea, Martin asks, “Why did you sleep on the couch? That’s not ‘same old, same old’.”
To his surprise, Jon comes in closer, only leaving enough room between them that he can still sign. <I love you. So much. Enough to terrify me, sometimes, but.>
“But?”
<Sometimes I can’t look at you without seeing the past. I’m sorry.>
Involuntarily, Martin glances down to Jon’s abdomen. Despite his torso being covered, Martin knows the shape of the scar there, because there are times where he can still feel himself creating it. “I know how you feel. And it’s. It sucks, but I think it’s okay. As long as..as it’s not the only thing you see looking at me.”
Jon shakes his head, and gives an only slightly fragmented smile. <Not at all. Mostly I look at you and I see my favorite person in all of existence, literally.>
Martin relaxes into the mattress and runs his fingers through Jon’s hair. Pressing their foreheads together, he replies, “Ditto. Don’t tell The Duchess though, she’s the jealous type.”
That gets a proper laugh out of Jon, and Martin’s sure that they both know tomorrow is going to be better.

Word count: 2.3K
Likes/votes, comments, shares/reblogs are appreciated!
Summary : being the new cook of the Kidd pirates, comes with a very suspicious and also a curious mask dude.
Tumblr media
"Yes. I know that and I added extra sugar for Kidd", you replied to the mask dude who was telling you, the official cook for the crew, how to make coffee for the captain.
"Just making sure", he said and started to make pasta.
"I could make it for you", you said.
"Its alright. I can do it myself. You can now go and serve the coffee to the gang", he replied without even looking at you.
'This jerk... why the hell is he like this?', you cursed under your breath and went to the rowdy gang. Mornings were the only time of the day, the assholes didn't drink.
"Heat! Wire! Wake up!!", you knocked the door and went inside. The roomies had a drowsy look on their faces. But ofcourse these two and Killer mostly stayed up guarding the ship.
Then you went to Kidds cabin and knocked once before entering.
"Captain, wake up", you said and carefully placed the hottest mug on the side of the night stand. He just grunted and turned. You knew, once Kidd woke up his drink would turn warm. So his was extra hot than others.
Once when a traitor was about to kill Kidd in his sleep, the first mate used the boiling hot coffee which was on the captains stand just in time. So... its not only a drink but also a weapon.
You quickly handed the rest of the crew, their mugs and went to the kitchen to brew the stew for the breakfast. Yes ofcourse it was wished by Kidd himself the day before.
You saw the first mate eating his pasta peacefully with his mask on. Before you were the cook, he cooked for the crew and this became his habbit to eat before the crew. He never removed his mask. Not once he revealed his face.
It would be a lie, if you said you weren't interested how he looked like and why he wore his mask always. But slowly you got used to him and his behaviour around you.
He always told you what to add and always asked what you were making. His special interest to the ingredients was weird. He looked at the ingredients and cut them for you everytime. As if you'd poison the food, if he wasn't around.
You were getting pissed by his actions day by day. You went to the stove and continued to stir the stew.
The breakfast was hectic with the rowdy crew and their massive appetite. You did feel someone staring at you once in a while. There would be 2 people if you felt like someone is staring at you. One being heat and other, the blond. Heat sat beside you, so you knew it wasnt him. And you made sure Heat could over come his shyness and ask you for food instead of staring.
You turned to look at Killer and yes, his mask was facing you. You shook your head and continued to eat the food.
And after a bit of training with Heat and Wire, you went to the kitchen to make lunch.
You got irritated when you saw the vegetables already cut. It was the work of Killer and you couldn't do anything but to sigh. You quickly started to mix the already cut veggies with the spices.
Making the Lunch was a bit peaceful. Because during this time, Killer and Kidd used to talk about some upcoming events and handled some paperwork. Sometimes they would build machines or new types of weapons.
The dinner was again a bit difficult. You could cut the vegetables this time but, he'd come to the kitchen and ask you what you were making. Sometimes he used to read books during this time. Sometimes it felt weird if... he wasn't in the kitchen.
Just like everyday after dinner, you now sat in the kitchen alone and looked at the new recipes, thinking what to make tomorrow. And like a routine, Heat came towards the Kitchen and stared at you for a few seconds before calling you.
"Hey.. Y/N", you immediately looked at him and knew what he was about to say. So you got up and went towards the fridge.
"Can I have any leftover dessert you made today", he asked as you closed the door with the dessert in your hands.
Walking towards him you placed the food before him and sat opposite to him.
He smiled happily and took a bite of the dessert and started to eat it with delight.
Yes you loved to see people enjoy the food you make. So you always made sure to save a portion for him.
You decided to ask Heat the question you had for months.
"Heat, can I ask you something"
He swallowed the dessert in his mouth and nodded.
"So... its actually about Killer", you said. Heat curiously leaned over to listen to you.
So, actually.. i feel like he is really suspicious of whatever I do and its really bothering me", you said before closing the cook book and sitting straight.
"How can he be so suspicious even after I am here for more than 4 months. I mean, if he has any problem with me, he needs to tell me right. What should I do? ", you ended with an ask and looked at him curious eyes.
He took another bite of the dessert and started to think carefully.
Finally he answered by saying, "I am pretty sure Killer is not doubting you. Maybe its better if you ask him"
"Why do you think its not the case?"
"Well, if it was... you wouldn't be alive. Its as simple as that."
'Damn that makes perfect sense. Why didn't I think like that', you mentally facepalmed yourself.
"Y/N, I believe there is something else. Why not just ask him", he suggested taking another bite.
"Yeah... thanks", you smiled at him and leaned back into your chair as you continued, "ill do that"
But ofcourse. It wasn't that easy to ask Killer. So a few days passed and one evening, the crew reached an island.
After docking, Kidd wanted to get drunk and fight other drunkards in the bar. Thinking it was a good chance to slip out of the place. The island was beautiful and the stars started to twinkle in the sky.
You walked aimlessly in the streets, which were a bit dark but still were beautiful. You didn't have to be scared. You are strong. One of the Kidd pirates. The one who always trains with the super soldiers heat and wire.
Then a park caught your attention. Walking in it you saw a slide.
'Ha... memories', you thought as you walked towards it.
The next thing you knew was you climbing up on the slide. You were ready to slide down it then you noticed the mask staring at you. You didn't know what to do. Your mind was blocked with the embarrassment. Still you slid down. Oh my... the 2 seconds slide was definitely awkward.
Both of you were so silent and just kept staring at eachother, with a blank expression.
You swore you could see his shoulders shaking. Was he... trying to hold back his laughter?
"What is so funny?", you asked with your cheeks flushed pink.
Damn he turned to another side to avoid looking at you, while he still tried to hold his laugh.
"I.. I just felt like... playing because its been a while", you tried to explain yourself while folding your arms. Then he slowly turned to look at you.
"I... didn't ask you anything", he said folding his arms.
"Tsk... why did you come here anyway?", you asked but you didn't receive any answer. You started to walk towards the swing now. He quietly followed you a few steps behind. Well you got caught so, there is no reason to hide or sacrifice the urge to play.
You sat on the swing and looked at him slowly coming towards you.
"Killer! Push the swing up high", you asked.. more like ordered.
He stood behind you in a blink of an eye and pushed the swing forward. It had been so long since you played like this.
The cool breeze felt so good. You chuckled as soon as he pushed you a bit higher. Oh how it felt like music to his ears.
After a while you asked him to stop it. You tripped as you felt a bit dizzy after swinging for so long. Ofcourse Killer was there to make sure you didn't fall down. You tapped his shoulder and made him to sit on the swing.
"Now It's your turn", you declared.
"Woah, you don't have to", he said but you didn't care and pushed the swing forward. If Killer didn't have his mask on, you could've looked at how he blushed at your actions.
Then you suddenly thought about what Heat told you. You decided it was the correct time to ask him as it was neither awkward nor anyone interrupted you two.
"So, Killer I wanted to ask you something for a while now", you saw that Killer definitely flinched when you said it.
"Wh..what is it?", he replied trying to keep him as calm as ever.
"Do you not trust me?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, you are always in the kitchen, asking me what I was doing, what I was adding, what ingredients I was using. It feels like you don't trust me", you pushed him again but he stopped to swing, by placing his legs on the ground.
"Oh no! I do trust you. I never thought you'd misunderstand my actions", he said facing you. You gave him a confused expression for which, he turned away and sighed.
"I was... trying to help you", he mumbled.
Your cheeks turned red at his answer. Then everything made sense. The way he always tried to make you know what the crew liked. How he cut veggies and other items for you. How he made his own pasta to lessen your work.
'God damn it! Now that I think, Ofcourse he was helping me', you started to curse yourself inside.
"So... you didn't knew it", his faced down looking at the ground beneath him.
"Im sorry. Killer please forgive me", you crouched before him and looked up at his mask. 'Aww how sad he seemed now.
"I'm sorry I didn't notice that you were helping me", you said taking his hand in yours.
"Its alright. It might've been my fault. I am this weird looking mask dude. No wonder you got scared"
"No no Killer. Its not because of your mask. Its not your fault. It was my fault. You are calm and collected. You always analyse things before hand. You solve fights between the crew members. You always did help me. You were always around me and made sure I didn't feel uncomfortable. You are an amazing cook and a great partner", you ended saying it.
Well with the last part you got carried away and got real close to his mask. As if you were kissing his mask.
Oh damn. You pulled back but... you were damn fricking sure, you saw shiney light blue eyes.
"Thanks Y/N", he said getting up and as you both still held hands, he pulled you up.
He placed his other hand on your waist to make sure you had balence before letting you go. He waved to you and started to walk towards the exit.
For some reason, you felt like, you'd really miss something if you just let him go now. As if... you'd not see him like always. Your legs worked their way and now you were running behind Killer.
"Killer stop!", you said and he tuned back to look at you. You couldn't stop your legs and almost tackled him down. But he was way too strong for you to tackle him down. So now, his arms were supporting you. Again!
You almost died with embarrassment but... you had to tell him.
"I didn't hate it", you said but he didn't reply. More like he didn't even know what to reply. Or... he didnt even understand what you meant.
"I didn't hate when you helped me. Infact I... liked it. Thanks for helping me then and also from now on too. So please do stay with me", you ended the sentence with looking down at the ground. It was quiet for a while.
'The fuck... why did it sound like a-'
"Is this a confession?", he asked
Your cheeks turned red at his question.
"Ah- I... But...", you struggled to come with an answer then you noticed his shoulders shaking again.
"Idiot! Dont laugh!", you shoved him back and started to walk away.
"Hey wait. No one dared to shove me and walk away", he said and followed you. You smirked at that and continued to walk with your head up.
He then continued, "Well.... except for Kidd, when he is on his period"
This shit made you to crack up and you laughed.
"Damn Kidd would kill you", you said as you placed your hand in his and you two continued to talk. You felt so warm in your heart when you held Killers hand.
Maybe something was about to start between you two.
Meanwhile in the bar of the island.
"*Achoo* I hope I didn't catch a cold", Kidd said as he snatched a drink from another person and started to make a ruckus in the bar.
XOXOXOXO

Friends and Frenemies
A Mitsuhide Akechi fanfic - approx. 2800 words. This scene takes place after the events of the romantic epilogue. Mostly fluff, slightly spicy.
First: Mitsuhide and the Maiden
Previous: Kitsune's Day Out
Mitsuhide sat on the floor with his little mouse in his lap. His fingers stroked the nape of her neck as he listened intently to Sarutobi.
Sasuke and Miyake sat across from them on the edge of the bed. Miyake’s expression was somewhere between awe and exhaustion. He wasn’t saying much, just staring into empty space with a confused grin.
The ninja looked mildly pleased as he talked. “My professor took a little convincing. We had to call in the history department chair to talk to Miyake.”
“What did he want to know?” The chatelaine’s eyes were heavy with sleep. They’d spent the day walking around Kyoto, looking at historical sites - things Mitsuhide should recognize.
Of course, everything was so changed from his time that the places they visited may as well have been new. Even if they were the same structures, what lay around them had changed so much as to render the buildings and monuments unrecognizable.
Sasuke shrugged. “Details. It was like watching a verbal exam in a master class. And then he made Miyake pick out his own sword from a room of Sengoku period weapons. It was impressive watching him look each one over.”
At this, the warrior chuckled. “I almost didn’t. It was strange to see Kichihiroe looking so old and worn.”
Mitsuhide smiled. “But you did. So all is well.” He turned his attention back to Sasuke. “What is the benefit of bringing these men in on our secret?”
“Well, first off, this.” He handed Miyake and Mitsuhide campus ID cards. “You are both now officially visiting professors, with a stipend and everything. There was a small . . . additional favor they requested from you.”
“Which is?” Mitsuhide raised one eyebrow.
Miyake answered. “They want you to come in and answer questions. A lot of questions.” He wiped his brow. “They started in on me today and there is just no end!”
Sarutobi nodded a confirmation.
“So . . . they want to pay you to answer questions about the Sengoku era? And that’s it? That doesn’t sound so bad.” The chatelaine grinned.
Mitsuhide shook his head. “I am not sure it’s so simple. This interaction - couldn’t it cause -” he thought for a moment, trying to find the words. “A complication? If I let slip something they don’t know, or they tell me something that will happen?”
“A paradox.” Sasuke’s mouth curled up in the slightest smile. “I considered that. But we are already living in a parallel timeline. One in which you and Nobunaga live, as well as some other changes.”
“So the things they tell us, those aren’t things that will happen?” Miyake sounded a little tense as he asked the question.
“Right,” Sarutobi replied. “Or, mostly right. We can’t be sure how far apart our timeline is from the original, so I encourage you to forget anything you may hear.”
Mitsuhide snorted. “Once a truth is heard, it cannot be so easily forgotten.”
“True enough. Can’t unring the bell, as they say. But are you willing to take that chance and talk with the history professor anyway?”
“I will.” Mitsuhide stroked his little one’s neck with gentle fingertips. “It will be interesting, regardless. And you have gone to a lot of trouble to arrange things. It’s the least I can do to play along.”
“I appreciate that.” Sasuke gave a little bow. “So what did you two do today?”
Miyake elbowed him and gave the two lovers a knowing wink.
Mitsuhide’s little one blushed and covered her face. “No! Nothing like that! Miyake! We just went shopping. Oh - and there were these men -”
“Who kindly helped me pick up our bags when I dropped them. We were very appreciative.” Mitsuhide interrupted her before she could give away any more information about their run in with the modern day bandits. Not that he didn’t trust Sasuke and Miyake. He did - as much as he trusted anyone. But it was always wise to keep information to yourself until there was a reason to share.
Sasuke blinked. “Ok. Well. Tomorrow, I’d like to take you up to the university, Mitsuhide. If that’s alright. You can both come if you want to.”
“Oh! But I needed to run by the office for my job tomorrow! I wanted to give them my apologies for disappearing so suddenly, just when they offered me a position.” She bit her lip. “I guess it can wait though.”
“I can go with her to do that, if you want me to,” Miyake put in.
Mitsuhide nodded. “Yes, I think that’s a good idea. You two can run errands tomorrow while I satisfy the curiosity of some modern scholars.”
“Are you sure?” The chatelaine looked uneasy.
“I am.” Mitsuhide kissed her cheek. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder, does it not?”
After they made arrangements for the coming day, Mitsuhide and his little mouse trekked back to her flat, leaving Miyake and Sasuke to themselves. It wasn’t that he minded the company, but he wanted to have her to himself tonight.
They stopped at a ‘small’ grocery on the way home to pick up something for breakfast. While Mitsuhide had noticed the number of foodstalls, he had not considered an entire store with shelves full of food. He wanted to ask if this was normal, but one look at his little one’s face gave him the answer.
She was not surprised at all. With barely a glance at the stacks of fresh vegetables and fruits, she led him further into the store.
There were at least five types of vinegar, he noted. An assemblage of noodles that defied sense. Several types of rice. Beans. And a variety of things with names he couldn’t identify as food, all wrapped in bright packages. “Masamune would love this place,” Mitsuhide murmured.
“You think? Maybe we should bring him something back.” She smiled. “I’m surprised you thought of him just now.”
“He’s a -” Mitsuhide paused at the realization he was about to say friend. Not ally. Not colleague. Friend. He bit back the word and finished with, “man who loves his food.”
His little mouse didn’t appear to pick up on the omission. “He really is. And he wants everyone around him to enjoy it too.” She picked up a package of rice, then added, “I wish I was such a good cook.”
“I think you’re amazing.” Mitsuhide settled his palm lightly on her low back, reassuring.
She smiled wryly. “Says the man who doesn’t taste his food.”
“Kyubei thinks so too. And his taste buds work fine.”
“Mhmm. Kyubei would eat a pile of rocks and tell me it was delicious if he thought he was supposed to. But I appreciate the compliment.” She leaned against Mitsuhide and sighed. “I wonder how he’s doing right now.”
Mitsuhide considered. There were a number of things he wished he’d had time to tell Kyubei. And of course, he hadn’t counted on Azuchi being attacked but, “I’m sure he is well. Kyubei is resourceful, talented, and I’ve left him the tools he will need. You should worry less about him, and more about yourself.”
“What should I be worried about?”
He grinned and leaned down to place a kiss on her cheek. With his lips almost touching her ear, he murmured, “You should worry about what I will do if I don’t get you alone soon.”
His little one inhaled sharply, cheeks heating. Her eyes were bright and full of desire as she replied. “Then we’d better hurry.”
They got back to her flat soon after, and unpacked the groceries. With the last items put away, she sat in a kitchen chair and looked up at Mitsuhide shyly.
It never failed to amuse him how innocent she could be in moments like these. As if she couldn’t admit what she wanted no matter how badly she wanted it. Of course, he’d take full advantage.
“How should I use your bath, little mouse? Can you show me how it works?” Mitsuhide already had an idea, but what fun was that?
“Oh! Yes. Sure. It would be good to clean up.” She led him to her small bathing room. “This handle is hot. This one cold. And if you press this, it will activate the shower. Just be careful where you point the nozzle.”
Mitsuhide leaned over her, pressing close. “So this one is hot?” He turned the handle.
“Umm . . . yes but, I should probably . . . get out of the way . . . the bathroom isn’t big enough-”
“And this one is cold?” He turned the other handle.
She nodded. “Yes. So. Ah, first rinse off with . . . with the shower. And . . . and th-then fill . . .”
Her distraction was deeply amusing. Possibly caused by his breath on the back of her neck and the way her hips met his. Not that he was unaffected. The press of her hips against him was maddening. The slight friction of cloth, the denial of skin to skin touch he ached for. But this was his game, and he knew what came next. Delay only made victory all the sweeter. Mitsuhide pressed the shower, and water fell like warm rain over them.
“Mitsuhide!” She gave a little shriek as he pulled her to standing under the flow. Her clothes clung to her skin, revealing as much as they hid. He could not wait to peel them off her.
“Oh dear. What have I done? Now you’re all wet!” He smiled widely and slid his hand under her shirt, popping the buttons open one after another.
She playfully swatted his other hand as he reached for her skirt. “You totally did that on purpose! I know you did!”
He shrugged. “Perhaps.” Mitsuhide slid her shirt off and enjoyed the sight of water pearling over the rise of her breast. Her soaked bra looked a deeper blue than it had when dry. A good color for her. His hands slipped around behind her, reaching for the clasp.
“You know, if you wanted to bathe together, you could have just said so.”
“Mmm, but this was more fun.” His fingers fumbled with the odd hook-and-eye catches, finally releasing them. Her bra fell away. Mitsuhide relished the sight. “You should probably help me get the rest of these clothes off. I’m fairly certain you don’t bathe wearing them in this age.”
She laughed softly and reached up to cup his cheek. “My wicked kitsune. No. We don’t.” And then she kissed him.
***
Kyubei frowned at the short, dark-haired man in front of him. “You can cut the act, Ranmaru. I’d recognize you anywhere. Besides, your work on that scar is atrocious. Who taught you disguises? Were they blind?”
The page - spy and ninja as well - sighed and set down the basket he was carrying. “I thought the scar was pretty good. It really changes my face. What gave it away?”
“Your fingers are still stained with beetjuice, for one. And you didn’t blend the edges well enough. I can see bits of raw paste at your hairline.”
“Well damn. Alright. You caught me. Are you here to kill me?” Ranmaru’s tone was light, joking, but there was nothing funny about the way his fingers curled around the hilt of the short blade he wore at his hip.
Kyubei rolled his eyes. “If I was going to kill you, you’d already be dead. I came to find out what you know - and how you know it. Are you willing to have a conversation with me?” He left out the alternative, which was knocking the page senseless, dragging him back to Azuchi, and putting him in the dungeon. He wanted to avoid that outcome. It wouldn’t do anyone any good.
Ranmaru shrugged. “Alright. Fine. But you’re buying us something to eat. I’m starving!”
“I can do that.” He led the page out of the alley they were in - a spot chosen in case things got ugly - and back into a market street. Kyoto was full of people selling things. He had his pick of at least a dozen stalls and shops for food, but made a beeline for one in particular. The proprietor was one of Mitsuhide’s informants, someone Kyubei could trust if this chat went sideways.
The two men sat down at a back table and ordered sake and food. Ranamru’s preference for sweet things had not changed in his absence. They were getting stewed peaches, peaches with rice, and peach-jelly stuffed mochi. Not to Kyubei’s taste at all, but then, he hadn’t come here for the food.
“What do you know about the attack on Azuchi?” Kyubei wasted no time getting to the point.
Ranmaru shrugged. “Would you believe I didn’t know it was going to happen?”
“No.”
The page giggled. It was a high, false sound with no real mirth. “Well, I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t believe me either. But I really didn’t know that was coming. I knew something was . . . my - my Master was working with some people. And they were coming to Azuchi so I knew they had something in mind. I thought . . .”
Ranmaru’s throat bobbed, stuck on the words. He looked away and wiped at his face.
Kyubei sighed. “So you weren’t sure what was planned. What did you think might happen? Is that what made you run?”
“Yes.” His voice was strained and he hadn’t looked up. “I thought . . . maybe they would try to kill him. Nobunaga. A direct attack. Or, poison? I - I didn’t want . . . but I was . . .”
“You were afraid they might ask for your help. Or participation.” Kyubei’s voice was pitched low, for Ranmaru’s ears only. This was not a subject to be discussed lightly.
The page nodded.
“So you ran.”
He nodded again.
Kyubei rubbed the short growth of hair on the top of his head. It was coming in, full and dark, but it itched some days. Especially after spending time on the road, with no rest. Touching it had become a habit for him when he was anxious or unhappy. This conversation was not making him happy.
“I didn’t want to be the one to - you know. Nobunaga has - he’s always been good to- to me. I thought, let them do their own dirty work. I would g-go back to Kennyo. Offer to be, to do a-anything else.” Ranmaru finally looked up. His expression was one of abject misery.
“I don’t blame you. It can be hard to serve two masters. Even when their goals usually align . . . often the methods do not.”
Ranmaru smiled bleakly. “I guess you understand a little.”
The tea and sweets came, and for a brief few minutes, the two men ate and drank in silence.
Finally, Kyubei asked, “So why aren’t you with Kennyo now?”
“I can’t find him. I know he’s working with . . .” Ranmaru’s jaw clenched. “I can’t say. But, I don’t know where they went. Or what they are planning next.”
“I need you to tell me the names, Ranmaru. Assume that I already know them, and from you, I only need confirmation.”
“Fine. Then you say them. I’ll nod if you’re right.”
Kyubei smiled. “Kicho.”
Nod.
“Motonari.”
Nod.
“The ‘shogun’ in exile.”
Nod.
“I was hoping the last one was a no. We worked so hard to set that boy up, but I suppose Yoshiaki’s allies got to him.” Kyubei took a deep breath. “And you really have no idea what they will do next?” He watched Ranmaru for tell-tale signs of a lie.
“I wish I did. I’d find Kennyo and get him away from those stray dogs.” The page almost spat.
“So what will you do now?”
Ranmaru tugged at his darkened locks, twisting them around his finger. “I don’t know. I am afraid to return to Nobunaga’s side. Afraid they will ask me to betray him. But that makes me a traitor to my Master. I am damned either way.” His voice was flat, empty of self-pity or any other emotion.
“You could work for me.”
The page raised an eyebrow. “You know I turned on both my masters. That I am a coward. What would you trust me with?”
“Well, not disguises, clearly.” Kyubei caught the curl of a slight smile on Ranmaru’s lips. “I’d want you to gather information from the daimyo loyal to the shogun. Nothing to do with either of your masters directly. No need to dig yourself a deeper grave.”
“I’d report everything to the Ikko Ikki too.”
Kyubei shrugged. “I’m fine with that? If Kenny’s monks act on the information, I doubt it will be to prop Ashikaga up further.”
Ranmaru chewed at his lip, thoughtful. Finally, he nodded. “I guess I can do that. Just until I find where Kennyo has gone and what he needs of me.”
“Then we have a deal. But I do have one more question before I leave you.”
“What?” The page eyed him, suspicious again.
Kyubei tapped his finger on the table, almost afraid of his own question. Asking it would be giving information away, but he needed to know. “Have you seen or heard from Akechi since the night of the attack on Azuchi?”

The Babysitter
Characters ( Ally Mayfair-Richards x Reader )
Rating (T) Word Count ( 2.9k) Warnings ( None, bad flirting, writing while intoxicated)
“For dinner! I'd love to come home with you for dinner.”
“Well what else would you be coming for?”
“Dessert.”
It was another late night studying on the living room floor of the Mayfair-Richards household. It wasn't uncommon for you to spend a majority of your nights here during the week and sometimes the weekend if you were needed and you usually weren't. Not that you would've minded anyway, your weekends weren't busy—mostly spent either dead asleep or trying to get out of plans you didn't want to be a part of anyway to get more sleep.
But it wasn't everyday that you were able to work for a Senator either, so even if you were busy, you weren't going to tell Ally Mayfair-Richards that. Not that she was a mean boss or anything, she was the Senator for crying out loud. And...okay yes, maybe you idolized the woman a little though it may be because you're studying law but honestly who wouldn't idolize this woman? She went through so much shit getting to this point in her life and career.
And she was hot. She was really hot but you kept it in your pants, but your eyeballs? Different story. You were just grateful that she chose you to watch her son when she was away, especially after you knocked over your entire cup of tea in her living room on the very carpet you were sitting on, and you were just a hot mess.
You thought you blew the whole thing, but the moment she produced the NDA to you a few days later when she called you back for a 'second interview' which included Ozzy this time, you'd been ecstatic and nearly knocked over another fucking cup but Ally was faster than you that time.
The giant TV was playing in front of you across the room but it was just the news channel but the volume was pretty low because Oz was asleep upstairs and you weren't really watching it anyway, you had your airpods in listening to Beyoncé and trying to create a decent scenario for one of the ten theories your professor assigned. It was due the next day so you thought picking the easiest one would work in your favor but it was turning out to be your worst nightmare—and you'd regretted choosing sleep over this, kind of.
You'd been so engrossed in your work, and music, you didn't hear the front door open and shut somewhere behind you or hear Ally quietly talking on the phone, her high heels click clacking on her polished wood floors as she came into the living room. Ally paused slightly at the sight of you and her coffee table, your books and yellow pads scattered everywhere, your head bopping slightly to whatever you were listening to as you scribbled away.
Ally smiled softly, and continued on her way upstairs to check on Ozzy knowing that she was going to find him safe, clean and fast asleep with a full belly. You'd been his nanny for four months now and you were such a blessing for Ally, she'd been reluctant to hire and trust another person with her baby boy but her career was too demanding and Ozzy was only ten. He could stay home alone for a few hours maybe, but not days or even a week or two.
After everything, Ally did have cameras around her home on the outside and she had one directly over the stairs because it overlooked the foyer and parts of the living room from an angle. She didn't want too many camera's inside of her home in case they were hacked but she wanted something at least.
Ozzy's room was dark except for his nightlight by the door and Ally quietly made her way inside, carefully sitting on the edge of the bed and pushing his curls from his face. She was ever thankful that he finally stopped having those horrible nightmares, it meant that she wasn't wasting her money on therapy sessions.
When Ally came back downstairs, you were predictably in the exact same spot you were in and Ally finally did away with her coat, placing it over the spine of the sofa and she stepped out of her heels before coming around and plopping herself down, careful not to knock over your stack of books.
The sudden movement startled you out of your skin and you quickly pulled out your airpods and looked at your boss, “Hey! Sorry, how long have you been home?”
Ally smiled down at you tiredly, practically sinking into the sofa and you could feel her exhaustion rolling off of her in waves, and you couldn't help but sympathize because damn, and you thought you were tired.
“I just got in, I'm sorry I didn't call earlier, things got busier than I expected and then everything went into chaos.”
You smirked when she threw her hands up half heartedly with a roll of her eyes, “Would a glass of wine help?”
“No, but it would definitely be a start if you join me for a glass?” she raised an eyebrow, and as much as you wanted to say yes you've already procrastinated enough and you really didn't need alcohol in your system around her lest you say something you absolutely shouldn't.
“I would but I have to finish this and it's getting late. Do you mind waiting up until my Uber gets here?”
“It's really late, you should just stay the night, (Y/n).” Ally sat up then, waving away your comment, though now she was closer and hovering over you a bit, “I'll take you home tomorrow after breakfast, that sound fair?”
It wouldn't be the first overnight stay but it would definitely be the first time that she'd be home too and you just couldn't say no to that even though you probably should have insisted more that you go home, but you accepted her offer without further debate. You'd gone back to your assignment, minus the airpods this time, and Ally got up to go to the kitchen and you could hear her fixing herself a glass of wine.
Ally set a bottle of water next to you on a coaster before settling back in her spot and finding something to watch on TV, and of course you noticed that she was a hell of a lot closer than she was before.
Your pen had paused on the yellow paper and your eyes glanced over the same sentence three times before your mind processed that you could practically feel the heat from her legs next to your arm through her slacks, and if you leaned just an inch you'd be touching her. You fought the urge to look back over your shoulder, but instead you looked up from beneath your lashes and saw that she was browsing the movie channels at a snail's pace.
Behind you, Ally was sipping her wine in one hand and flipping channels with the remote in the other but her eyes were nowhere on the TV screen. But she noticed the moment your pen stopped moving and your shoulders tensed more than usual, she'd been watching you closely and curiously.
“You okay, honey?”
You turned around to answer her with what you hoped was a calm smile and wished that you hadn't, really. Ally was going to kill you sitting the way she was sitting, her energy screaming big dick and the top three buttons of her shirt were undone and her hair was a little messy. Either she was going to give you a heart attack or your libido would.
“Sweetheart?”
You blinked, coming back to reality so fast you would’ve gotten whiplash, “Uh, yeah...maybe I guess I’m just tired too.” Yeah right.
You chuckled nervously, embarrassed really, and licked your lips again and Ally tracked the movement with rapt attention not that you would've caught it because you were busy being mortified being caught staring like a creep.
“Are you sure? You look flushed, drink some water,” you smiled at Ally, ever the mom.
“I’m not—” not what? Thirsty? Yeah you were but not for some water.
“You’re not what?” Ally pressed, still holding you hostage with her eyes alone.
“Not thirsty for water.”
Ally raised an eyebrow, the corner of her lips twitching and you hate that you noticed, “Oh? Then what would you like to drink if it’s not wine or water?”
Good question. One you didn’t have a good answer to. Not trusting yourself to formulate words into an appropriate sentence, you just nodded and turned back around and grabbed the water she brought you. You were determined to ignore until you were finished with your work—for the sake of your sanity and dignity.
Fuck.
Still watching you, Ally laughed quietly into her wine glass and finally settled on a movie, keeping the volume low as she got comfortable. Deciding to let you off the hook for not answering her question. (This time.)
~~
A few days later...
It was another late night for you but you weren't working for Ally tonight, so you went to the gym instead after studying. You were still wearing your tights and sports bra when you left, only throwing on a jacket because the night air and sweat weren't a great mix.
You didn't have anything at home to eat that wasn't expired or so frozen it came from the ice age...it all went in the trash so all you had left in your fridge was a case of water and cheese sticks. It wasn't surprising though, you spent a majority of your free time at Ally's home and you just ate lunch and dinner there usually. So you went straight to the grocery store after your workout with your trainer.
“Hey (Y/n)!” you looked up and internally groaned, rolled your eyes and threw a whole bitch fit.
You offered Sean a tight near sarcastic smile, “Sean. What is up.”
“Nothin',” he said, leaning against the counter he was standing behind with a cheesy smile, his eyes leering—and it made your skin crawl, “Just working...you?”
“Uh,” you were already over this conversation, “Same, anyway—”
“You still work for that crazy killer lesbian?”
You stopped, pivoting back around slowly to see if he was joking or not, of course it was hard to tell because he was looking at your ass, but the minute he turned around his eyes laser beamed to your chest. Specifically your pebbled nipples and the bars pierced in them. You moved the labels of your jacket to cover them fucking pig.
“Uh, my eyes are up here and two, that 'crazy killer lesbian' is your Senator.”
He shrugged, “I didn't vote for her.”
“I'm...okay, it was nice talking to you but I have things to do.”
“Well, wait,” he moved in front of you, stopping your escape, “That's not what I wanted to talk to you about actually, uh, but listen...do you maybe wanna go to dinner with me this weekend? My treat?”
You raised an eyebrow at him, completely unimpressed with his audacity, “You literally just called my boss a crazy killer lesbian and now you're expecting me to go to dinner with you?” as if, you wanted to add but held yourself in check—barely.
“I'm sorry about that,” Sean only shrugged but he was bashful about it but it only served to irritate you further because it was obvious that he didn't quite mean it and you were mentally slapping yourself for just not ordering that damn pizza.
“Whatever, goodnight Sean.”
you tried to move around him but he shifted, keeping you in place and you knew you could've just turned around, you should've but he would've just followed you, “Well wait, you never answered my question. About dinner?”
“No.”
“Well, wait a minute...why not? The lesbian thing? It was just a joke. You can take one, can’t you?”
“And I'm not laughing, get the fuck outta my way Sean—”
“You—”
“I believe she told you to fuck off.”
Sean's eyes snapped up over your head slightly, and you would've laughed at his stupid face had you not been pivoting around yourself, your eyes meeting a very familiar chin and you looked up, but Ally's eyes weren't on you but instead glaring daggers into Sean. He'd be ten feet under if she got her way with that look. You wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it. (Maybe another version of it...)
“S-senator?”
“Oh, I'm not the crazy killer lesbian anymore? How disappointing.” when Sean could only stare at her like a fish out of the water, Ally stepped forward—a lot closer to you and you didn't have the strength to move or even look away, “I believe you were told to leave. Oh and if I even hear that you looked at or said anything to (Y/n) incorrectly, you're going to have a lot worse than a harassment complaint from a Senator to deal with.”
You didn't see him leave but you heard the squeaks of his sneaker and in seconds flat you and Ally were alone in the cereal aisle and you had absolutely no idea how to even breathe at the moment, much less process that she just saved you from...whatever that even was.
When Ally was satisfied that Sean was gone, she finally looked down at you—there was still a fire in them that you couldn't place but her brown eyes were softer than they were a few seconds ago, and you felt your shoulders relaxing slightly.
“Are you alright, (Y/n)?”
You cleared your throat, taking a small step back—but you still felt exposed under her unblinking stare though not in the same way you felt with Sean, it was the complete opposite, “Yeah thanks to you, so um thanks...a lot. Your timing is impeccable, but what are you doing here so late? Where's Oz? Is he okay?”
Ally smiled at you, shaking her head disturbing her always perfect hairstyle, “Oz is fine, or at least he will be, he must've ate something today at school and it's not sitting well with his stomach,” Ally rolled her eyes but not at the fact that her son had food poisoning but that he had food poisoning from the school lunch. She could only imagine that other children—reforming school lunches was already on her agenda but now she was seriously considering moving ahead of schedule.
“Oh no, how bad?”
“Not too bad...he'll be okay, I'm just here for medicine to stock up on,” Ally reassured you, her eyes flickering over your shoulder for a second, “What are you doing out so late?” and wearing that? She mentally added, but held her tongue because she knew that it wasn't her place to comment on your attire—not that she was complaining about it, but Ally just didn't like the way Sean was leering at you either. She was a hair away from showing him how she earned her title.
Suddenly aware of how much skin you were showing, and that your jacket fell open again but unlike with Sean you didn't feel the need to really cover yourself (even though you knew that you should've). You appreciated her eyes more than his...and probably anyone else's.
“Oh, I went to the gym and since I don't have any food at home...”
Ally chuckled, “Is this your way of asking for a raise?”
“No! No, no you pay me plenty...I'm just too busy to cook is all and then I'm just too tired to eat sometimes. College life.”
“I was teasing, welcome to adulthood. It doesn't stop,” you laughed along with her but you both knew there was truth behind those words.
“I shouldn't keep you, I know you have things to do.”
“You know, I doubt you're going to get a decent nutrient meal here tonight, especially shopping while you’re hungry...” Ally hummed, seemingly thinking hard about something before opening her mouth to carefully speak those words, “You're more than welcome to come home with me for a late dinner if you have nowhere else to be. I'd be more than happy to feed you.”
Heh. Feed me what? You blinked, mildly surprised with how fast your mind went straight to the gutter and you felt your face heating up faster than a house fire, and you had no doubt in your mind that your boss knew exactly what she was doing to you.
But she didn't, Ally didn't have one clue to what was happening in your mind because her own mind was a pile of scrambled eggs while forcing her eyes to stay above your neck. You were both very much still in public.
And the last thing Ally wanted to do was make either you a cliché, especially with her being a public figure in a male dominant career field, both in politics and her restaurant.
“Unless you had your sights set on cereal?” Ally coughed lightly, suddenly nervous and you realized that you'd been standing there staring at her like a moron this whole time.
“No, I'd love to come home with you,” you said cheerfully, meaning every damn word for different reasons, and you smiled at her, before your eyes widened when realizing how forward you sounded, and suggestive as hell, “For dinner! I'd love to come home with you for dinner.”
“Well what else would you be coming for?”
“Dessert.”
Direct result after two blunts...sorry if it's kinda lame tho lmao I went in thinking I was writing smut and gave up somewhere

Hiii!!! I love all of your work sm, I was wondering if you would write more o’Darwin??? What about in the future of them finally getting to live together, no pressure at all though :)))
So, one of my big O'Darwin's HC'S is that it's not necessarily their goal to live together. I feel it's important to depict poly relationships in all their form including those that follow less traditional 'rules'. If you've read some of my other O'Darwin stuff, you might remember I've written Alex with other long-term relationships down in Florida aswell as short-term and hookups. Now, of course there is absolutely no problem if you want to HC them as living happily ever after in their nice little house together, it's just not something I imagine. This was my attempt at writing something that hopefully meets your happy O'Darwin desires. It ended up kind of emosh!
Rating: T
CW: mentions of career ending injury, food, small sexual joke,
Credit for these characters and the sweater weather universe goes to @lumosinlove
"And," Alex drew the word out as he placed the last of his roll necks into the closet. "Done."
"Finally. It only took 3 days." Kasey huffed from where he lay on the chaise-lounge, watching Alex unpack the last of the boxes he'd had shipped from Florida. "Did you and Finn take the whole of fifth avenue when you left the state?"
"I need options, and I don't see you complaining when I'm wearing the clothes."
Natalie scoffed, leaning against the door of the closet. "O'Hara, please. You'd look good dressed in a bin bag and you know it. Come on, I made breakfast."
"She ordered breakfast," Kasey laughed, hauling himself upright.
Parts of Alex had been accumulating in the apartment for years: the toothbrush in the bathroom; the drawer of clothing that held the things he didn't want to keep bringing back and forth, his mug in the kitchen, to name a few. Now though, it felt more permanent, more deliberate. A whole closet. The online shopping list updated to include his personal favourites, rather than just grabbing them on the way from the airport. Finding mail for him in between Kasey and Natalie's letters this morning.
"9 months! I can't believe we get you for 9 months," Natalie grinned, bending to squeeze Alex's cheeks and pressing her lips to his forehead before folding her legs beneath her onto one of the large cushions opposite, Kasey between them.
"You'll be sick of me in a week." Alex chuckled reaching across the low table to grab one of the acai bowls.
"If you keep leaving your dirty underwear on the bathroom floor then we will," Kasey hummed, sipping at his mug of dark coffee. If the steam rising from it was any indication then it was still incredibly hot, but Kasey didn't flinch. He cocked his head, inspecting Alex's face. "Seriously, how are you feeling about it?"
Alex shrugged. "I'm still working through it with Jacob, but mostly I'm focusing on the positives. I get to be here with you two and Finn whilst I finish recovering and I begin coaching at the college almost as soon as I'm back in Florida so there won't really be anytime to wallow in the misery."
"Are you miserable?" Natalie frowned.
"I think the not knowing was the worst part," Alex smiled softly. "Now that I know that I can't play anymore, it feels easier somehow. I always knew there was a possibility of something like this happening. All it takes is one bad hit, an injury that just won't heal -" Kasey rubbed his thigh and Alex reached for his hand reassuringly. "But the thought that maybe, just maybe, if I did everything right, then I could get back on the ice was driving me crazy. I could make a plan once it was final, y'know? I have a plan."
"Do you miss Florida?"
Alex paused, halfway through digging out the passionfruit from its skin. He glanced at Natalie, the tight lines around her eyes revealing the nervousness she rarely showed. "If you're asking whether I miss Kiran, then yes. I miss her. Just like I miss you when I'm there. There's no better. Just different."
"Fuck, I know, sorry," Natalie said, letting out a long breath. "I don't know what came over me."
"Oh no," Alex deadpanned. "She's having emotions. Someone call the press, Natalie Darcy might actually be human."
"Shut up, I hate you," Natalie scoffed, flicking a grain of puffed rice across the table at Alex.
"She loves me, doesn't she?" Alex whispered in Kasey's direction. "I bet she tells you all the time.
"You're both a pain in my ass."
"You wish," Natalie laughed.
"Maybe later," Alex chimed.
Kasey rolled his eyes, taking another bite of his egg sandwich without comment. Alex gave a contented sight. Tomorrow, Kasey would go to practice, Natalie would go to the studio and Alex would have to find some way to entertain himself that wouldn't leave him bored and depressed, but for today he just wanted to enjoy being with the people he loved.

The Escort
Walter Marshall x Reader
Tumblr media
Words: 2,064
Warnings: none
Happy super late Valentine’s, Cavillry! As usual, this is a very very late upload but in my defense, it does say in my bio that I am a procrastinator soooo... Anyway, I’m really excited about this miniseries because I love the movie (The Wedding Date, 2005) and I really wanted to write Walter, I hope I do him justice!
Feedback (good and bad!) means the world to me as rookie writer, so I hope you’ll like, reblog and leave me some replies!
---------------------------------------
You could not believe you were doing this. You just couldn't. But there you were doing it, even though your mind screeched at you to stop and save a little dignity for yourself.
The fact that you even considered doing this was already a serious loss of dignity points, so what the hell. People did this all the time, didn’t they? There wouldn’t be a whole network of people clumped into this app if it wasn’t a normal occurrence.
It just wasn’t a normal occurrence for you.
Once you filled your head with rationalisations to make yourself feel better, you took a deep breath and began browsing through what the great city of New York had to offer.
Z, 6’, loving hands, fit, athletic, good manners, for water sports, caramel complexion.
For water sports? What in the hell did that mean? And that single initial in place of an actual name? Serial killer vibes. No, thank you.
Lenny, 6’2”, pretty fit Italian, excellent dinner companion, all occasions catered.
Alright. Okay. Now we’re talking. Tall, European, excellent dinner companion equals to good conversationalist, accommodating. Lenny goes on the list of possibilities.
Terry, 6’, my soft voice will arouse you, my strong hands will pleasure you,  let me show you how a woman should be treated, hourly/overnight rates.
Oh no no no. Major creep vibes from Terry. That ad alone had you reaching for another long swig of wine.
Joey, 5’8”, are you into champagne?, bodybuilder, will treat you like a queen.
“If you like piña coladas…” you sang in not even remotely the right key, topping off your drink
Josh, 5’9”, I can make you feel sexy and wanted. Fit, sensual, strong.
“Well!” you exclaimed drunkenly, almost spilling wine on your couch, “Tough beans, Josh! I don’t need a man to make me feel sexy and wanted!” you faltered a bit, your drunk mind still seeing the holes in your logic
“I just… Need a man to help me not look like a tragic spinster in front of my family and my ex...”
With that thought fresh in your mind, you reached for some more wine.
The ads went on and on as you scrolled through your phone, it was all a little overwhelming, how were you going to make sure you weren't hiring some psychopathic serial killing pervert to pose as your date to your sister's wedding?
The groan you let out bounced off the walls of your apartment. The reality of your situation was sinking in little by little.
Yes. You were hiring a male escort for your sister's wedding. It was your baby sister's wedding, by the way. You were a hundred percent aware that what you were doing was completely and utterly pathetic but you’ve already weighed the pros and cons in your head countless times.
Showing up alone: pitying looks, whispering behind your back, having to face ex by yourself, staggering levels of embarrassment.
Showing up with handsome -hired- date: mother can finally get off your back, date is more handsome than ex, ex will want to shrivel up and die, no one will know date is male escort except you and him.
Now, let’s break down some of the guests just for the sake of being thorough.
There’s your slightly overbearing mother (slightly meaning every call you have with her opens with the question: “how's your love life, dear?” or “I have the most amazing man to set you up with!”), all of her judgy eagle-eyed friends (mostly rich widows whose sons your mom shamelessly shoves your way), your extended family (some terrifyingly old school great aunts and uncles who will definitely ask if you’re married and smile sympathetically when you say you’re not), and last but certainly not the least, Jeffrey, your ex-fiancé (best man, but apparently not the best man for you, his words not yours).
"Lordy fuck." you exhaled hard, chugging your wine straight from the bottle
How on earth did you get here? Sitting alone in your apartment, working your way through your second bottle of wine (or third? Who was keeping count?), clicking on ads that spoke of "hot single males in your area" waiting to meet you.
Would it be fair to pin it all on the end of your engagement?
Picturing that moment, you decided that it was only fair. Those were five years of your life you would never get back, you were prepared to sign on for more but, yeah.
You were blindsided, that's the only way to describe it. All the while, you thought that you and Jeffrey were on the same page, at the same place in life. You were the golden couple, the couple that all the other couples wished they could be, when you two walked past, girlfriends would give their boyfriends a slap on the shoulder that meant, "Why can't we be more like them?"
It was so out of nowhere, one minute you were discussing wedding cake options over dinner, then suddenly you're putting the ring in his palm, completely in shock.
After that, you threw yourself into your work despite the fact that you were already a budding workaholic to begin with. That's how you ended up earning six figures a year.
Six figure salary, check. Doing pretty well in life all things considered, check.
But even with all that, there weren't any conversations over casseroles and cobblers about your many achievements. Nope, your mother and her friends would much rather discuss their worries that you would essentially, die alone.
Your little sister, Amy, getting married before you didn't exactly help to put a lid on all the chatter. And with Jeffrey being the best man? And you being maid of honour?
It was a disaster waiting to happen.
Maybe you could make up an excuse believable enough to get you off the hook so you wouldn’t have to go?
Were you really thinking about bailing on your little sister’s wedding? If she wasn’t taking cues from your mother, it would be the only one she ever had.
Not one of your finest moments as a sibling.
With the complications of your situation fully realised, you took to reading the ads with a little more effort. Luckily, you didn’t have to look for long.
Nick, 6’, male, tall, good looking, strong build. You will not be disappointed.
The ad was considerably less flashy than the others but you supposed that’s what drew you to it in the first place. It was understated, simple, and his ad wasn’t entirely made up of overcompensating flexing pics.
Mostly because he didn’t need them.
Call off the search, send the boys home. You had a winner here!
Staring up at you from your phone screen was the most handsome man you have ever seen in your life. Literally.
A mane of thick, artfully disheveled curly hair, eyes that were a light shade of blue that had a sort of dark intensity and intelligence that you could spend days trying to understand, and a smile. Oh, that smile was absolutely suckerpunching. It was odd though, something in your head was telling you that this man did not smile often.
You couldn’t tell if the warmth blooming in your chest and creeping towards your cheeks was from all the wine or from examining this prime specimen. Jeez Louise!
“Phew!” you fanned yourself upon stumbling on a photo of him crossing his arms in a tank top. Good God, you hoped he had a license for those guns!
You had to set your phone down for a minute to think things through although it seemed absolutely nuts that you had to think twice at all. It’s just that after the initial excitement and hormones wore off, it was becoming more and more evident that this man was too good to be true.
Just look at him! Were there actually men that looked like that? And why didn’t they live closer to you? A quick sweep of his profile placed him in Minneapolis.
What were the crime rates like there? And did they have a high rate of murders relating to escort services?
Before you could even google anything related to that, you stopped yourself. If you kept at this rate, you would never get anything done! Finally, after a methodical deliberation (aka ogling the pictures on his ad), you saved Nick’s contact number to your phone.
Aaand that’s as far as you’d go for the night. You could call him tomorrow when you weren’t a floundering drunk. It was like your mother always said, “Always be sober for a business transaction, but anything else calls for a cocktail.”
-------------------------
The following morning, you sat at your little breakfast nook, eggs still piping hot and untouched, and a hangover in full effect. You’ve been staring at the phone number for so long, you could say it in your sleep.
Come on, Y/N, the wedding is five freaking days away.
What if this guy was fully booked? You didn’t want to spend five days surrounded by family with Mr. my-soft-voice-will-arouse-you, did you?
You slammed your finger down on the call icon and stuck the phone to your ear. Your heart beat faster and faster with every ring and your palms became so slick with sweat that you almost dropped your phone a couple of times.
Maybe you should have taken your mother up on the multiple occasions that she wanted to set you up with someone. Alright, on second thought, you didn’t really want to be with someone who only looked good on paper but was actually an insufferable mama’s boy.
“Hello?” a male voice answered, catching you off-guard
Oh, God. Okay, you’re really doing this.
“Yes, hi! Hi. Uh, I’m looking for Nick!” you chirped, in a startled high pitched squeak you didn’t dare recognise as your own
The silence on the other end was starting to make you sweat behind the knees. It suddenly dawned on you that you didn’t mention any specifics.
“Uh, sorry! I got this number from the, uh, the ad. I’m looking for Nick?”
“Yes! Yes, that’s right, but Nick isn’t in right now. This is his manager.”
Was that a good sign? That a male escort had a manager? Did all male escorts have managers? You clearly didn’t know enough about this stuff.
“It’s a pleasure, Mister..?”
There was another beat of silence before the person on the other line answered, you tried your hardest not to overthink about what that could have meant.
“Foley! I’m Foley, Nick’s manager.” Mr. Foley’s voice returned to your ear, sounding much too bright for your liking.
Christ, what were you, a cop? To be honest, you were exhausted. Despite all the alcohol in your system last night, you barely got any sleep. You spent the rest of the night reading through some reviews of Nick’s service as an escort.
He had a glittering five star rating.
One woman hired him to pose as her husband at a high school reunion and by the end of the night, she ended up proposing to him. He respectfully declined and even bought her dinner afterwards.
That review alone was enough to convince you that you would be in good hands. So, it was time to buckle down, swallow the nerves, and handle your business like the adult you were.
“Mr. Foley,” you shook your hair out and put on your professional voice. “I’d like to book your client for five days, give or take. I need a plus one for a wedding. Is he available to leave on the-”
“Please hold. I’ll check his schedule.”
“Oh. But I didn’t mention when I-”
“He’s available. Would you prefer to pick him up at JFK or will he meet you at your place of residence?”
“Oh. Uh, I guess I could pick him up. Do I pay for his ticket or..?” you were feeling a teensy bit of whiplash at how fast this was all going
There was some rustling on the other line and the muffled sounds of bickering. You tried not to let that concern you.
“We’ll handle that, Ms. Y/L/N. We have your number, we’ll be in touch for further details. Good bye.”
The line went dead and you were left staring at your phone in confusion. Did you tell him your name?

Day After Day
Rating: Teen and Up, Gen
Life in the coven seems glamorous on the surface, but there's a lot of work in being a coven leader. Hunter can handle it. He CAN.
Ao3
Alarm. Shut it off.
Hunter blinked blearily at the tiny demon determinedly chomping his arm. He flicked its eye to get it to stop and peeled it off, tossing it to his counter. He rubbed his eyes, lying in bed for just a second—just one more minute.
Okay. That was enough. It was time to get up.
He needed to get up.
Up, or you’re late, and Kikimora will notice, and Belos will notice, and the whole coven will notice.
Technically, he was up an hour earlier than he had to be. Technically, he wasn’t even close to being late, because the rest of the coven wouldn’t even begin to get up for another hour.
Get up.
Hunter rolled off of his bed, flipping on the lights, because the sun hadn’t risen yet. His alarm demon had gone back to sleep.
Wish that were me.
Tunic, on, armor, on, cloak, on, pinned with the symbol of the emperor’s coven. Shoulder pad, on. Hunter picked up his mask, and a sick feeling swept over him.
I don’t want to put it on. I’m so sick of it. I just want to leave it off and breathe without it tasting like metal.
No. It kept him safe. It was protection from the outside world. He needed it.
Mask on. Hood up.
Down to the mess hall. No one else was up, and that included the chef demons—they’d wake up in about half an hour to start cooking breakfast for the coven scouts and guards. Hunter turned on the lights. Half an hour to cook something up, eat, clean, put everything back.
He set on a kettle, grabbing a mug and a tea ball. Too tired to make breakfast. He usually was. So, tea it was, and he’d get lunch with the rest of the coven—no avoiding that.
The kettle whistled, and Hunter poured the water. Wait awkwardly for the tea to steep. Pour the rest of the water out of the kettle, return it to its place, wipe off the counter where the mug had been to avoid spillage, take tea to cafeteria.
Just like every other day.
Titan.
Sit alone at the table, his mask pulled up just enough that he could fit the mug under, sipping tea that was just a little too hot and a little too bitter.
Good, it would wake him up.
Just like every other morning.
Finish the tea. Ten minutes until the kitchen staff showed up. Wipe off table, clean mug, return it to cabinet. Turn off lights. It was like he’d never been there.
Go to the center office and check for the night patrol reports. There were 2, one for each shift. Both were a quick read and a quick file. Nothing eventful.
The coven was starting to stir, a few early risers up and about. They gave respectful nods to him as he passed them in the hallway, and he gave them acknowledgement nods back.
Wish I had time for a nap.
But it was just about time for him to designate the day’s patrols, and after that he had guard duty in the Emperor’s throne room for matters of state, and then it would be time for lunch, and then the first round of reports would be in, and he’d have to read those, and then he’d have his own patrol, and then it would be time for his daily exercise routine and then it would be dinner time, and then finally he’d have just a little bit of time to himself, but at that point it would be too late to take a nap, because that would mean he wouldn’t fall asleep later, and anyway, he’d need to be awake to read and file the last set of reports before the night shift, and then it would be time to do a sweep of the castle before everything settled down and then it would be time to go to sleep so that he could get an adequate amount of rest for tomorrow.
Obviously he didn’t have any time to take a nap right now.
And the day progressed exactly as he knew it would. Organize the scouts, guard the emperor, lunch, reports, patrol (nothing eventful), training, dinner. And then he was in his room, and he could finally take off the mask completely and breathe freely.
Hunter flipped the cover of a book back and forth. Opened it up to the page he’d left out on. Sighed. Set it aside. Picked up a different book. Set it down. Picked up his staff, starting to polish it, then setting that aside, too. Picked up the first book again, and stared at the page he’d been on for a few minutes without reading it. Closed it again.
He really just wanted to go to sleep. But he couldn’t, or he wouldn’t sleep tonight.
You like reading. Just read a book. It’ll make you happy.
He picked up the book, flipping the cover back and forth again, staring at the page.
He just couldn’t summon the willpower to actually read it.
You’ve been looking forward to it all day, what’s wrong with you? You like to read, just read the book!
I just don’t have the energy.
And then it was time to look at the patrol reports. Mask back on, trudge back to the office.
See, you didn’t really have the time to read anyway.
Hunter flipped through reports without reading them, putting his head down on the desk.
I’m too tired for this.
I should have taken that nap.
He flicked himself in the head. “Focus, you need to get this done. You said you’d get it done, you came down here to do it, no getting distracted, just do it.”
One of the reports contained a demon sighting, a real nasty large one.
Huh. He’d have to make sure the patrols to that area were briefed on the possible danger, maybe assign larger patrols. He felt sick just thinking about rearranging the size, changing the routine of the coven—it was a lot of work.
Sounds like a tomorrow problem.
Yes. It was too late to worry about it now—there was nothing he could do at the moment, he’d just have to figure out the change tomorrow, when he assigned patrols.
Nightly inspection.
Nothing wrong. Everything in order. No problems.
Hunter unpinned his cape, hanging it up neatly. Tunic left for laundry, armor and belt hung up with cape. Helmet on the bedside table.
Teeth brushed, face washed, all in order.
Hunter was asleep when his head hit the pillow.
Alarm. Shut it off.
Hunter didn’t for a minute, until the biting of the alarm demon got too painful to ignore. He flicked it away.
Titan. Just. Let me lie here for a second.
No. You put off redesigning those patrols, so you have to get an extra early start, now get up.
Uniform.
Tea.
Night shift reports—a little faster than usual, mostly skimming. No sighting of that demon.
Figure out those patrols.
Hunter thumped his head against the desk repeatedly.
Figure out the patrols.
Come on, stupid brain, focus.
Okay. He could make the patrols not going through the area with the sighting a bit smaller—there hadn’t been any incidents in those sectors, so they didn’t need a full patrol. And then he could just add those extra people to the patrols going through the hot spot, warn all patrols to be on the lookout, and… the new patrols needed to be particularly well-balanced, with a mix of defense and offense. So he couldn’t just shift patrol members from one side to another, he had to redesign the entire schedule to make the best teams.
Should have looked at this last night.
Well, you didn’t, because you never learn this lesson, now redesign the patrols.
He was late out of the office to see the early risers, hurrying to the briefing room where he explained the situation, handed out the new assignments, warned the scouts to be on their guard and to call for backup if necessary, then hurried off to the throne room.
This was the closest thing he got to a break until after dinner. Sure, he had to stand ramrod straight and hold still unless it was necessary to move, but at least he didn’t have to think, at least not the way he had to when he was designing patrols. He just had to be alert.
Lunch.
Reports.
Patrol was nice. He finally got to be alone, no one looking for direction or asking him to do something.
Lilith had never done patrols when she was coven head—but then, she’d had her special assignment of capturing the owl lady.
Oh. Oh, right, Lilith had also had to organize Covention, which would… now be his job. He should probably get on that—except he didn’t really have the time to organize Covention, because he only barely had enough time to get the DAILY things done, he didn’t have time for a major project like Covention!
Whatever. Whatever, he’d just have to get ahead on some patrol schedules, and then he’d have the time. It would be fine, he just had to work a little harder now, and start planning early. He could use some of his free time, it wasn’t like he was managing to do anything he actually wanted to do anyway.
Hunter finished the patrol—nothing to report, nothing of note.
Training.
Dinner—he just grabbed some food from the mess hall and headed up to his room, scarfing down a piece of bread while he planned the next week’s worth of patrols.
He could skip the nightly check tonight—it technically wasn’t one of his official duties, it just made him feel safer. But tonight he was too busy, he lost track of time looking at old covention shows and speeches.
Hunter rubbed his eyes with a yawn, clearing away his plate. Time… time to go to sleep.
Titan.
Alarm. Shut it off.
I don’t want to.
Get up. Get up, get up, get up.
Hunter ripped the alarm demon off of his arm with a groan, sitting up and scattering old covention records. Titan.
He stacked the papers neatly.
Mask on.
Tea.
Reports.
The patrol reports he’d missed from yesterday marked another demon sighting—and there were a few citizen reports, too, the creature was destroying local shops. Not just a watch anymore, then—he needed to put a price on its head, which meant he needed to take a look at the coven budget.
Later problem.
Shift assignments.
Emperor’s guard.
Titan. Was this it? Doing this for the rest of his life? Was that what he wanted?
Of course it was. Of course it was, of course it was. This was a bright future—looked up to, in command of the most powerful coven, right hand man to his uncle. So what if it got a little monotonous, a little stressful? There were plenty of people who would kill to be in his position.
Public time over. The throne room doors closed. “Golden Guard. It has come to my attention that we have a bit of a demon problem.”
Hunter inclined his head. “Yes, sir. I’ve increased patrol size, and was planning to put out a reward for its capture or destruction.”
“I would prefer if you oversaw this one personally.”
“Personally?” Whoops—he hadn’t meant for that to come out questioning.
“Personally. I know you have a lot on your plate, managing the coven. But I’m certain you can handle this as well, yes?”
Yes, he could handle it. Of course he could handle it, it just meant shifting priorities, and taking up the time he’d set aside for planning covention, and maybe getting behind on the reports for a couple of days while he solved this problem. He could handle it, but that didn’t mean he wanted to. You don’t have to. You could outsource the job to scouts, or put that reward up.
But Emperor Belos wanted him to do it, and Emperor Belos believed he could do it—which he could, no problem—so of course he would, because he couldn’t disappoint the emperor, no matter how much he wished he could just have one focus.
“Of course, Emperor Belos. You can rely on me.”
Okay, okay, okay, he just had to find and kill this thing quick. He skipped lunch, re-reading the reports of the demon. It always appeared in the same spot at around the same time—luckily during his report-reading time, not in the time he would be in the throne room. Simple, easy, go to spot, kill monster, get on with life.
Hunter took a deep breath. Okay. He’d just go with the patrol tomorrow. No big deal.
Patrol, reading a few more reports as roamed his set area.
You wished for something new to break up the monotony, he scolded himself, tucking reports away on his way back.
Training—nope, he was too tired. Not today. He was hungry, too, but mostly he was just. Exhausted. He kept himself together long enough to get to his room, then passed out on his bed.
What time is it?
Hunter blinked blearily at the setting sun outside—past dinner, then. That was fine, he was fine. He’d gotten sleep, and that was what really mattered.
Alarm. Shut it off.
Hunter peeled himself off of his bed with a groan. He didn’t remember falling asleep again.
Maybe I should leave the demon hunt for tomorrow.
No. Nope. He’d put it off long enough, waiting for its normal appearance time instead of tracking it down. He just needed to grit his teeth and get it done.
So after his time guarding the emperor, he went out with the next patrol. And then, there it was, a giant cat-like creature with bat wings and the tail of a scorpion. The rest of the patrol assumed defensive positions, and Hunter zipped forward, shooting bolts of magic at the creature. It yowled, swiping a paw at him. Hunter just barely dodged it—his mind was fuzzy, slow. Maybe he should have made an effort to eat something this morning. Another blast of magic—but that just seemed to be irritating it. Hunter zipped to the side, hitting a tree with his magic instead. It crashed down on top of the demon, pinning it, and he came in for a closer look. Where was its weak—
Hunter rolled to the side as its tail stabbed down towards him. It grazed his leg, and hot pain flooded from the wound.
Too slow, too slow, too slow.
Wait—
Hunter dodged the next tail strike, then slammed his staff against the creature’s tail, using a burst of magic to send the tip of the tail into the creature’s eye. It howled, thrashing.
The scouts jogged up, binding the demon. Some help they’d been—no wonder this thing had been terrorizing people. “Sir! Are you alright?”
Hunter waved them away. “Fine. Just a scratch. Can you handle this?”
“Sir!”
“Good.”
Hunter climbed onto his staff, warping away. Ow—that stung. It was just a scratch, but the creature’s venom made the whole thing throb and itch. He didn’t think it was deadly—none of its attacks on citizens had been fatal, and even stabbing itself in the eye hadn’t killed it. But it sure did hurt.
It’s fine, it’s fine.
Back to the coven. Wrap up the leg, sew up the rip in his pant leg, slap a healing patch on to stop the pain so he could carry through the rest of the day.
Finally eat a meal—but not scarf it down like he wanted to, because other coven members were there, so slow and dignified it was.
Those reports were piling up—I’ll do them later.
Pass out, barely managing to hang up his uniform.
Alarm. Shut it off.
Hunter didn’t move, just staring up at the ceiling, his leg throbbing and pulsing.
Come on. You can do it. Just like every other day. Just… get up.
Just five more minutes. Five more minutes, and then we’ll get up.
No. You have to catch up on all of those reports—because if you can’t get the reports done, you won’t even be caught up to today, and it will just pile up, and you won’t be able to do Covention plans.
Hunter pulled the alarm demon off.
You can do it.
No one will notice if you’re struggling as long as you continue to succeed.
One day at a time.

“Angel, stop,” you groaned as you felt Angel leave another mark on your skin.
He smirked against your skin, placing a kiss on the spot he just bit. “What?” His voice sounded gravely, you two had just woken up.
“Did you not leave enough bites last night?” Well, this morning, but it counted as last night since you two started last night.
“Can never get enough bites in baby.” He chuckled.
Turning you to face him, Angel kissed you. It started with a few pecks, before he slipped his tongue in, slow and sensual as always. He moved on top of you, your lips never parting, intertwining your hands beside your head.
“Te quiero mucho mi vida,” Angel whispered against your lips before he slipped his tongue inside your mouth again. You felt his hardened member against your leg. Reaching down to wrap your hand around his hardened member, you moved your hand up and down his cock causing Angel to groan. “Fuck baby, just like that. Can’t wait to be buried inside you again.” He ran his fingers up and down your folds, slipping his fingers inside.
You moaned, widening your legs. Angel removed your hand from his cock, moving so he can slide inside you. Just as he was about to, his phone rang, making Angel groan. He buried his face at the crook of your neck as he grabbed his phone.
“What’s up?” He answered. “Yeah, I’ll be there in twenty.” He hung up, placing his phone on the bedside drawer. “You think we can get a quickie done in ten minutes?”
You laughed and pushed away from Angel. “Have you met you? There’s no way baby.” You slipped on your discarded panties and his shirt. “I’ll see you in the kitchen.”
Preparing a quick breakfast for Angel, you made coffee just like how he liked it, with no sweetener or anything. You were cooking some eggs, bacon and a patty for his sandwich.
“Only psycho’s drink their coffee black.” You commented, shaking your head.
“I’m your psychopath though.” Angel grabbed the coffee cup and dropped a kiss on your lips. “Besides, that's how pops drink it.” He took a sip, the bitterness was not something he could get used to, but it woke him up. “What you got planned today?”
“I have to finish up some christmas shopping, but otherwise, I have to wrap presents.”
Angel almost choked on his coffee and tried his best not to laugh. “Baby, we have a deal. You shop, I wrap. It’s better this way.”
“Yes, but we made a deal yesterday remember?” You pouted, wrapping your arms around Angel.
He chuckled and shook his head. “Hard to forget baby, especially when your lips were wrapped around my dick.”
“You’re too much sometimes, you know that?”
“Ain’t no shame baby.”
You laughed. “Of course not, why would you?” You handed him the quick breakfast sandwich you made. “You’ve been busy with the club, I got this.”
Angel doubted that, but he loves you and he supported you no matter what you wanted to do. “If you need me, I’m a call away.”
“Are you going across the border today?”
“No, just templo and a shift at the yard. Then I’m all yours. We still doing a movie marathon?” Angel scruffed down the sandwich you made for him as he waited for your answer.
“Yes, are Coco, Letty and Gilly still coming over?”
“Baby, we’ve had them over the last three nights, we can enjoy one night to ourselves.” Angel drank the rest of his coffee and threw the paper towel that once held his sandwich. “I’ll cook dinner and you pick the movies.”
“Cook? Baby, you can’t cook.”
“Alright, I’ll order take out and I can fuck you on the kitchen table while we wait.”
“Angel!” You threw a piece of bread at him which he caught and ate.
He laughed and kissed you again. “Okay, we can fuck in bed whichever one, regardless, that ass is mine tonight. Te queiro.”
“Love you too.”
Wrapping presents shouldn’t be hard.
But there was no shame of paying professionals to do it either.
This year, you promised yourself that you would wrap the Christmas presents. That for once, you could wrap the presents and learn how to do it.
God bless YouTube University.
You watched videos, practiced with various items so when the time came, you could wrap the presents.
The time came and yet again, it was a fail.
You looked at the Christmas wrappers scattered on your living room floor as you wrapped one of Angel’s several gifts. You and Angel have been dating for three years now and he knew your peril with wrapping gifts. So every Christmas the tasks were always the same. You bought the gifts, Angel wrapped the presents. But with the club being busier this year, you told your boyfriend that you had everything handled. He gave you a look, but you assured him with a smile and a blowjob.
You had your tongue sticking out at the side of your mouth, taping the Christmas wrapper together and yet again, you didn’t measure correctly and it was disproportionate.
“This is hopeless. How is Angel so good at this?” You laid your forehead against the coffee table in front of you. With every failed attempt, the more you regretted not going to the mall and had the professionals wrap your presents. But you had to push through. This Christmas was all you and you didn’t want Angel to lift a finger.
You continued to wrap presents, adding strips of wrapping paper for certain presents that you didn’t measure out correctly. The presents didn’t look bad necessarily, but you just wished they looked better.
You placed all of Angel’s presents under the Christmas tree and went to get the rest of the presents you have yet to wrap. You had at least ten more presents to wrap and it was slightly becoming daunting for you. Presents shouldn’t be hard to wrap and honestly, you were using the mall gift wrappers next year. You went into the kitchen to grab a drink of water and finish the rest of these presents. Looking at your watch, it was fifteen minutes to six. Angel should be home in an hour or so.
Sitting back down with your hot chocolate instead of water, you placed Coco’s present on the coffee table to begin wrapping it. As you were busying yourself with that, Angel came in through the backdoor wanting to surprise you. He left his bike at the clubhouse since Bishop gave him the day off tomorrow. EZ had dropped him off so that he could surprise you. He had the takeout in one hand and your favorite cheesecake from the bakery down the street from the clubhouse.
He placed the food in the kitchen and quietly made his way to the living room where he knew you would be. He heard a train of expletives come out from your mouth and he had to hold back laughter. Peeking into the living room, he saw you with various pieces of christmas wrappers around you, highly concentrated on wrapping a gift on the coffee table. You were trying to fold the top of the present, looking at the gift before you with frustration.
“Cut the top so you can fold it better,” he heard you tell yourself. “Okay, how do I know how much to cut?” You let out a groan. “This is ridiculous. I’m going to the mall tomorrow and have the experts do it.”
“Or you can just let me do it like we always do.”
You yelled, your hot chocolate spilling all over you. “Angel!”
“Baby!” He quickly made his way over to you with paper towels, handing it to you. “I’m so sorry.”
“I know, what the hell, I didn’t even hear your bike.”
“EZ dropped me off, wanted to surprise you.” Angel took off your shirt. “You should change.”
“Yeah? You think?” You rolled your eyes, playfully pushing him.
You took a quick shower and came back out, finding Angel wrapping the rest of the presents. You sat beside him and he had hot chocolate waiting for you. “How are you so good at wrapping presents? You literally wrapped five in twenty minutes.”
Angel shrugged. “My mom and I used to wrap presents for the whole family. It was our thing up till she passed.”
You gave him a small smile and wrapped your hand around his. “So it was tradition?”
“Of some sorts, I would help her with wrapping the presents and she would tell me all these stories about my tio’s and tia’s, about her and my father.” Angel smiled fondly of the memories he shared with his mother. No one could wrap presents with them, it was for him and her, their bonding time. He continued to wrap presents every once in a while, but he didn’t do it traditionally like before, till he met you.
“Maybe we can start our own tradition? You can teach me how to wrap presents and this could be our thing.” You paused. You shouldn’t have said that, the last thing you wanted to do was impose on Angel’s memories of his mother. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.”
“No, it’s okay.” Angel turned to you and kissed your cheek. “I haven’t done this since my mom passed, it's nice to share this tradition with the most important person in my life.”
You felt the tears well up in your eyes, Angel’s words making your heart swell. “I love you.”
“I love you more baby.” He smiled. His smile was so warm. You knew he was a tough guy, but when he was with you, he didn’t need to have to hide behind that exterior. “Do me a favor, can you grab the gift I got for pops? It’s in the drawer on my side of the bed.”
“Sure.”
You did as he asked and brought the gift over to him. It was in a velvet box and you couldn’t help but think what it could possibly be? Felipe hardly wore jewelry, but made Angel got home some to commemorate Marisol.
“Here babe.” You offered the box to him.
Angel took it and thanked you. The nerves began to set in for him, but he had to do it, he had this.
Taking a deep breath, he turned to face you and you were standing, watching the baking show you had on before he came. He wasn’t sure when it clicked for him exactly, but a year ago, during the holiday season, he came to your apartment and found you watching some cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies and Letty was with you. You had looked up at him and smiled, patting the seat beside you. He realized then that he wanted to have this every holiday, every day for the rest of his life.
He wanted to come home to a home you two shared with your kids surrounding you.
He wanted to come home to you during a hard day and just be enveloped in your warmth.
He wanted to make new traditions with you and do it every year just as he did with his family.
You were his family now.
“Y/N,” he softly called out your name.
“Yeah baby?” You turned to face Angel and found him on one knee with the velvet box opened, showing you a beautiful diamond ring.
“When we first met, I never thought we would get this far. If anything, I thought you would come to your senses and not give me a second or third date, but you have no idea how happy I was you did. I hardly ever win, but in hindsight it doesn’t matter since my biggest victory is you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and make new traditions with you.” You began to cry along with Angel as he took your hand. “Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? I love you, and there’s no one else I rather watch cheesy Hallmark movies with than you.”
You managed to laugh between your tears and nodded your head. “Yes, I will marry you.”
Angel smiled brightly as he took the ring off and slipped it in your finger. He stood up and kissed you, wrapping his arms around you.
Pulling away, you looked at your ring and kissed him again. Life was hardly perfect with Angel, but you didn’t want that. You want all the imperfections you two had because at the end of the day, much like your divided task with Christmas, you two completed one another. Where one lacked, the other picked up.
And that’s what it was all about. You bettered one another.
Angel was your better half.
No questions about it.
“We really gotta teach you how to wrap mami, cause I can’t wrap every damn present.”
You laughed. “We better get started then.”
