Within the past 72 hours the TGM fandom got a fire put under it's ass, for lack of a better term/phrase. Even though I'm not as active in the fandom anymore, it did make me want to talk about a few things. This isn't the first time that I've had to make a post similar to this, usually speaking about reblogs and keeping your fanfic writers feeling wanted within the fandom spaces, but today I'm going to talk more about fandom etiquette and my experiences in fandom spaces. So, if you want to hear my opinion on fandom etiquette, how I learned fandom etiquette, and my thoughts about the doxing situation that has happened, keep on reading.

My Fandom Experience.

The first fandom that I was ever a part of was The Hunger Games fandom in the 8th grade (if you don't include my anime fandoms). I was 12-13 at the time. This was when I was first introduced to Tumblr and being involved within a fandom online. At the time I was super young, barely even knew who I was as a person, let alone in a fandom space. All I did was reblog little gifsets and fawn over Josh Hutcherson. I remember getting my first hate anon, even though I didn't do anything that would generate that to even happen. Even when I was 12-13, I couldn't understand why anyone would send a hate anon. That was when I found out a friend of mine found my Tumblr and actually secretly hated me, so she sent me hate anons. Still, before I knew it was her I didn't understand.

Fandoms were a formative part of my childhood. I think that main one that helped form me though was the Supernatural (yeah, I know, eye roll), Naruto, and The Hobbit fandoms. I had made friends on Tumblr and Instagram through these fandoms. During these times was when I had first started consuming fanfiction. Specifically, destiel and thilbo fanfiction. This is how I started to find the things in fanfiction that I loved, and the things that I hated. Instead of sending hate to the writers for their thoughts and stories that I didn't agree with, I would back out of the story or just scroll past. Not only that, I also started to use the filters on AO3 constantly, ensuring that I was only reading the fics that I knew I'd enjoy. Also, I was careful to read warnings and tags prior to reading the fic. Never once did I blame the writer for something that I knew I didn't like and accidentally read or read for see what it was about.

After high school was when I started getting into fanfiction writing. I've written for a lot of fandoms during this time. The IT movies, Total Drama, Haikyuu, Attack on Titan, Marvel, Bridgerton, Top Gun: Maverick, and currently ASOIAF. As a writer I've never gotten hate, thankfully, but I have had a lot of friends that have. It's sad to see so many people who take the time to write, whether it's enjoyable or not, receive hate. As writers we are simply expressing our creativity for the things that we love. Since posting fanfiction on tumblr, I have experienced a lot of people pestering for new updates and when the next fic is, and so have a lot of other writers on here. Even though people only know us as a little icon and username, fanfiction writers are people. We have lives outside of writing fanfiction. Everyone also isn't the same type writer. One person may easily write multiple fics every week, some of us take longer, and some of us are even just passion writers (me lol).

The TGM fandom has been one of the most negative fandom experiences I've ever seen/had. It is full of some of the meanest people/anons I've ever seen. From writers being attacked for fic ideas, people being sent hate for something that the anon has full control over, and people constantly expecting new stories to read on the daily. Yes, I do know that other fandoms have these issues, but it seems to be almost a weekly, hell, even daily thing within this fandom. A lot of the issues that I see happen in this fandom are from people who don't understand fandom etiquette.

Fandom Etiquette.

If you had noticed there was a few things I put in bold above. These are key things that I learned during my time that attribute to fandom etiquette. So without further a do, I'll list out some fandom etiquette rules that I follow all the time.

Don't send hate anons to people

Block/unfollow people you don't like

If you don't like an idea or fic, don't read it

Read through all warnings and tags that the writer provided

Use AO3 filters

Don't blame the writer/creator for reading things they created that you actively know you don't like

Writers/Creators aren't "content farms"

There are people behind these blogs/usernames, treat them like someone you'd see on the street

Writers/Creators are expressing love/passion for something, don't hate them for doing that

If you see something fandom related that you don't like, scroll past it or ignore it

YOU CURATE YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE (ESPECIALLY ON TUMBLR)

The Doxing Situation.

For those who are unaware but decided to read this anyways, recently there was a writer (Mama Mayhem) on here who got doxed from another writer in the fandom. Mayhem has since lost her job due to the doxing. This was apparently from her breaking HIPAA by posting a picture into a private groupchat/discord. This picture was posted almost a half year ago. Meaning that the person who reported/doxed Mayhem had known about this picture for months and only recently decided to do something about it.

I'll start by saying that I also work in healthcare, and know many other people here who do. I understand that a HIPAA violation is 100% an offense that gets you fired. I'm not excusing the HIPAA violation if one did occur.

Some people have brought up the idea that maybe the person that reported the picture, and doxed Mayhem, was doing it out of the goodness of their heart. Due to the timeline of it all, that doesn't seem likely. I had a previous coworker get fired for HIPAA violations and it took a total of a week from the initial report for her to be gone.

The biggest thing I want to convey is that TWO WRONGS CAN HAPPEN AT THE SAME TIME. Yes, if Mayhem violated HIPAA, it is wrong. But at the same time, the person held onto this information for months only to use it out of spite, pettiness, and cruelty, is wrong.

My Thoughts.

Due to Mayhem being doxed, a lot of people have decided to leave this platform, take indefinite hiatuses, stop writing, or move to AO3 exclusively., and I don't blame them. I'll be honest, I'm thinking about moving to AO3 exclusively now. AO3 feels a lot more rewarding in my experience. I already only post my fics for ships to AO3, so why not just post everything on AO3 (which I usually do).

I think a lot of people have forgot what it feels like to feel shame in something they say or do. When I say this, it's directed towards people who send hate or do other malicious things in fandom spaces. Fandoms were never this clique-ish and mean. I think it has to do with the pandemic, meaning that a lot of people who would have never joined a fandom did because they weren't allowed to do anything outside of their house. So, those mean girls that made fun of fandom girlies (g/n) previously, joined the fandoms and decided started bullying the people within them.

This situation is super shitty and people are now scared. It makes complete sense, especially after seeing someone, that many of you were close to, be doxed. A lot of people are scared of it happening to them now. I don't think this fandom will be the same after this situation, but who knows, maybe everyone will just forget and move on. Either way, I think I'll be taking a step back from the TGM fandom. I'll still be here, but until further notice, I won't be posting any TGM fanfiction. Maybe a gifset/picture here and there, but I don't think this is a fandom I feel comfortable writing for anymore.

I just wanna say that I absolutely LOVE Butterfly. It’s kinda the only fanfic I care about at the moment lmao I am LOCKED IN. The story itself is great, all of the characters (even the ones everyone hate rn) are interesting, the writing is phenomenal…I could go on and on.

I have a few thoughts I wanted to get out of my head. These aren’t suggestions (cuz it’s your story and I trust where you’re gonna take it), it’s moreso just kinda be me rambling lol:

Sasuke- I know you’ve mentioned he’s going to show up again later, but I’m so anxious to see the role he’s going to play. I don’t really want it to be a romantic thing with Hinata (I am a firm NaruHina lover lol) but I would love to see him be some kind of a protective friend for her? In my head he and Hinata already know each other; like they had some type of group therapy for traumatized teens or after she was removed from her dad’s care she was temporarily in a group home where she met Sasuke and they got to know each other idk. He knows her story and the pain she deals with, and is able to relate in a sense. So he doesn’t want to see her be taken advantage of. Idk, again this is NOT a suggestion lmao just rambling.

Strength- I would argue that Hinata’s the strongest character in the story so far. Even stronger than Naruto. She’s been thru absolute hell and suffers with severe anxiety and depression. The fact she struggles with suicidal ideations and is still making the choice to live is a testament to her strength. I hope that as the story progresses, Hinata starts to recognize that in herself.

Naruto- love the way you write Naruto in this; the chapters in his pov are some of favorites tbh. As someone mentioned before, I too would love to get a few jealous Naruto scenes. Especially since he’s starting to actually *see* Hinata and recognize his attraction to her. I’m assuming that as the story progresses, Hinata will grow into her own person and become somewhat independent of Naruto (like getting her own friends); is that something Naruto might feel threatened by? Since he does have a selfish streak and is immature, I wonder if he would have an issue with keeping Hinata all to himself.

I think those were the main ramblings I had. Chapter 8 is my absolute favorite so far cuz of the cute NaruHina moment we got. I know smut is probably a ways away but I cannot WAIT till we get to it cuz you are one of my favorite smut writers tbh. Anyways that’s all for now. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!

Sasuke- Surprisingly a lot of readers have been waiting to see how Sasuke fits into all this🤭I've gotten some incredibly creative scenarios and prediction from commenters and anons that I've actually added to his role and even moved his entrance up in the timeline😄This is a very interesting scenario and I really, really like it a lot! So many people really want a protective friend Sasuke and I can't say the idea isn't unbearably adorable 💕

Strength- You hit the nail on the head for sure🫡💕Hinata's inner strength is one that's often overlooked, underestimated and underappreciated when compare to more overt forms of strength, or socially constructed ideals of what it means to be strong, and I've really, really been wanting to make a point in the world of fanfiction, specifically the Naruto fandom of fanfiction, that strength is not always aggression, violence and bitchy attitude 🤦🏽‍♀️ because I've seen, for years now, this narrow, short sighted standard of who is strong and who is weak being perpetrated and it's always, always bothered the crap out of me 😤With Butterfly, I'm hoping to open minds and break molds we've been taught to believe are absolute👎🏽but are actually highly subjective👈🏽 I swear, so many of my fics are 'break the mold' type fics, lol, I think I just like to nay say the nay sayers, ya know, shine light on areas and topics that many may make negative assertions and toxic assumptions about while in reality, know very little about the subject matter at all. I think it opens the door for more compassion, understanding and inclusion ️🫶🏽 and honestly, that's what I'm all about.

Naruto- I love, love, love me a Naruto POV 🙈idk what it is about Naruto in particular since I love most make POV but it is soooo much fun being in his head 🤭Butterfly!Naruto and Prey!Naruto are two of my fave Naruto POV's to write in, both are so much fun in different ways 😄For sure Naruto's gonna have his jealousy moments, he's too hot headed and selfish in Butterfly not to🤭Its definitely not out of the realm of possibility that he'll feel some type of way about not being the center of her attention🤔right now, he's the golden boy, he's got the coveted place at her side, he's got exclusive access nobody else has, losing that, well, he might not be too keen on it🤭although, he's been trying to introduce her to his friends and help her with her speech problems, so maybe he'll take it as a source of pride that he's help her find her confidence🤔that's why I love this Naruto 🤭he really can go either way. Like, on one hand, he can be sweeter than cotton candy, some real tooth rotting sweetness, but on the other hand he can be a selfish asshole making scummy choices just to get what he wants😅he gets tunnel vision, and the only thing that matters is reaching his goals by any means necessary. He's just a really fun character🤭

okay, I’m not a gatekeeper. I swear I’m not. But I genuinely cannot help but be irked when I see a hinata fan latch themselves onto characters like Neji or Sasuke. Pretending like they ~totally~ understand their characters while also horribly misrepresenting them and characterizing them like they’re from a fanfiction. Talking about how noo sasuke would love hinata if he really got to know her! He’s just so cold and unfeeling that a character like hinata could really bring out a nice side to him!1!1!1 Neji is a victim of this too but in a slightly lesser degree as most hinata fans don’t bother to ship them openly as they’re related. But that won’t stop them from characterizing Neji as someone completely and utterly obsessed with hinata to the point he grovels at her feet and is possessive of her like a “big brother.” Because if hinata called him her big brother when he died then that totally makes them siblings! Who cares if neji considers himself that! Hinata said so1!11!1!

god I dunno. Maybe I’m just being selfish in the idea I just want hinata Stans to stay tf away from Neji and Sasuke because if you like hinata and her character, there is absolutely zero chance you will be able to understand Neji or Sasuke.

Well, I don't see an issue with liking a character by itself and proclaiming yourself a fan of the rest (I'm a big fan of Ino Yamanaka and Sasuke Uchiha, two characters that stand in opposite corners thematically), yet this can be sustained as long as we respect their canonical characterizations and understand that not everything about a character is "good" or has to be justified. As for the core of your complaint, I agree, as many of these arguments are sustained on the premise of giving Hinata more relevance (romantically or politically); something that she canonically does not possess and that neither of the two previously mentioned male characters are interested in giving her.

Hinata's sole purpose as a character was based on being Neji's polar opposite during his arc (the Chünin exams are relevant to Neji, not Hinata, who is a supporting character to him) and being Naruto's admirer on certain occasions. That's it, at no point was she even mentioned or observed by Sasuke, and any narrative weight she might have carried disappeared when Neji himself was no longer necessary for Naruto's growth.

Neji's problem isn't just with Hinata (I'm surprised to have to clarify something specifically mentioned in the manga and anime), but with the entire main Hyüga family; which is why his arc doesn't close until Hiashi (not Hinata), apologizes.

As for Sasuke, I wouldn't spend any more time thinking about it since the sole reason for his involvement lies in a desire for romantic reciprocity from the most attractive and powerful character in the manga (at the thought of an offspring with both Byakugan and Sharingan, despite the fact that the Sharingan is infinitely superior to the Byakugan). If with Neji's arc, Hinata possessed almost zero thematic relevance, with Sasuke - with whom she not only never interacts but in his eyes, she's part of the caste he seeks to eradicate, then her incidence is extremely nil.

I've never written a post about SasuHina/HinaSasu, and in part, I refuse because their canonical possibility really is nil, so there's nothing more to analyze than headcanons and fanfictions that have their own rules, which have little to do with Kishimoto's material.

Perhaps in the future, I'll dedicate a post to that pairing discussing some of its more famous theories; like how Hinata, being a character considered by the fandom as "sensitive", could understand and help Sasuke despite the fact that she was never seen comforting or trying to understand any character other than Naruto; going as far as to dismiss her cousin's emotions in order to put herself as a victim of the system on the same level as her cousin, whom her father enslaved.

Hinata being shy is not the same as her being "good" or "sensitive", Sakura used to be shy during her childhood and was bullied for it, yet Hinata stans don't usually consider Sakura to be a good person...

Hinata haters are the most hypocritical in the entire fandom they criticize Hinata for most of her character revolving around Naruto yet do not do the same to Sakura who is arguably worse considering she's a main character with far more screen time. Sakura character begins and ends with Sasuke I mean isn't any coincidence why fanfiction writers have to go out of their way to give Sakura character traits that don't revolve around Sasuke?

They don't have to do that to Hinata considering the character at her core has far more to her than just Naruto her goals and her struggles are completely relatable to those who deal with or have struggled with confidence issues.

If she was a main character and her entire character revolved around Naruto they would have an argument but they don't because she's a side character and Naruto is a shonen not a romance manga which these clowns for some reason struggled to understand.

The thing is everything revolves around Naruto in someway cause he is the MC the center pierce of the story everything we see is only shown cause it relevant and interacts to his story. Go back far enough and you will find a link to Naruto in every character and event we get in the story.

Yes its so hypocritical considering Sakura only gets shown so much cause she is leeching off team 7. Her moments not only revolve around her obsession with Sasuke, but also she is only shown just cause she is on team 7 there is no other reason she is kept around and on the side lines despite not doing much she is Naruto's teammate that is it. Hinata or Ino could easily take her place even a completely new character with nothing special about them would likely do Sakura's role better simply cause they have a better personality. Even becoming Tsunade's student was only cause she was Naruto's teammate and got introduced to her as such otherwise Sakura would never be able to demand the village leader to take her on as a student. Even then its clear it was only done to keep team 7 dynamics cause Naruto and Sasuke were both being trained by a Sannin.

As you said Hinata has her own goals and struggles we only see the tip of them cause that is all that is needed for Naruto's story. Like Hinata has the whole Hyuga clan story and the cage bird seal, her relationship with Neji, Hanabi and her father as well as the rest of the clan then you have her teammates and sensei let alone she would likely be closer to the other girls then Sakura. Fact is there is much more about Hinata that could be told, but simply isn't cause its Naruto's story not hers. We only see what is need to help better tell Naruto's story there is plenty of substance for more about Hinata showing she is a well made character, but that would only distract from Naruto's story hence it doesn't further delve into more then necessary.

Like Sakura what else can be told about her everything about her revolves around Sasuke or Naruto. At most you have her family life and parents, but they were left out of the story cause they aren't important. Her rivalry with Ino again all cause of Sasuke and that is only shown due to Sakura being on team 7. Fact is there isn't really anything interesting away from Naruto and Sasuke that can be used for story telling out of side of team 7 Sakura hardly has any relationships with anyone else without her team being involved.

i shit you not i was a sasusaku (and sasuke) anti for like my first four years as a naruto fan. and then i read blue-plums meta and fanfiction and it was like my entire world shifted on its axis. these are some of my favorite posts and fics from her and i genuinely think she has a phenomenal grasp on the characters. i am a sasusaku fan but i also don't tend to share in the opinions of most sasusaku fans so blue-plums is a nice rarity bc she's willing to critique where most fans aren't to really get to the root of what makes the relationship good and where it's done a disservice whether in fanon or canon (if you read anything at all read the first link i provided bc the analysis is absolutely amazing)

25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

answering on a technicality here but not so much a complaint as a response to a complaint. i know hearing people say bruce shouldn't be beating up mentally ill people is exasperating but i also think in trying to defend bruce comic fans end up seriously skirting over the issues with vigilantism to begin with. like there is an issue with bruce believing the way to save gotham is to dress up like a bat and beat up weird megalomaniacs and at one point in time you had characters trying to get him to recognize that but we never fully went anywhere with those conclusions bc the medium grew ever more aligned with conservatism. so idk i am kinda sick of hearing people defend vigilantism i think it's boring and bruce should be subject to more critique as to whether batman is truly a worthwhile pursuit (even if the suggestions he donate to charity are boring and droll and do not actually do anything to probe into the real issue at hand)

Why do I have no problems with SasHina but I have issues with NaruSaku? SasHina fans do not shove their ship down everyone's throat they generally actually do enjoy shipping Sasuke and Hinata together because people that do that are likely fans of both characters which is who I was and still I'm at the time. Sakura with any character she's just a self insert and her fans are toxic as fuck and to this day still won't let go of their shitty shit not happening even though it was nothing more than a filler creation. What I've seen from them, they tend to be respectful towards fans of other ships, so that's another reason I don't have problems with SasHina. Now I will talk about my history with the ship.

Back in the early days in the fandom when I was reading the manga and watching the anime I didn't go with the mainstream ships at the time because I was I guess you could call a hipster. By 2008 the height of my SasHina fandom Hinata was my and still is my favorite character Sasuke was very close as well so naturally I shipped them. Gaara is my favorite male character in Naruto but I just don't like the idea of them together so I never messed with GaaHina. At this time I was also NaruHina as well so I enjoyed both. I was never as dedicated to NaruSaku nearly to that extent. I just enjoyed the potential dynamic between Sasuke and Hinata in a romantic sense back at that time even today I still enjoyed the potential dynamic as them as friends as well. 

They never interacted at all in the Canon story but the potential was there and if you've seen any fan art with them together you cannot help but think they look good together. The amount of potential with this ship is another reason why it was so appealing to me but what made me stop? I was reading a lot of fanfiction at that time and one thing that I constantly ran into that I hated was Naruto ending up with Sakura. Now I wasn't anti-Sakura at that point when I stopped shipping them. I just preferred Naruto and Hinata's relationship considering their shared history and their shared trauma and the fanfictions that I've read for NaruHina also we're more appealing to me because at the time my most hated ship other than NaruSaku Sussaku wasn't a guarantee which was a good thing back then I missed those days now that I think about it but that's post for a different time.

175 published works! I do not count any WIPs, outlines, notes scratched longhand, or random shitposts I make on the tunglr because that's another 1700+ 😂😂😂

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

According to my stats page.... 1,218,398. So 1.2 million+ words published since maybe 2010. Everything prior to 2010 was deleted because I was super embarrassed of what I used to write 😭

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I follow my heart so my AO3 is basically my fixation chart in real-time. Way too many specific fandoms to count, but in terms of medium: I write for a lot of manga fandoms, used to write kpop fanfiction as a kid, still write kdrama fanfiction whenever something catches my eye, and of course comic books and wrestling. I also have a handful of fanfics for books.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I love responding to comments!! It makes me feel special lmao 😂

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Ephemeral (Hunter x Hunter manga). I basically wrote the ending for the Dark Continent arc (since it's unlikely it'll ever get finished), and sank the boat and all its passengers while making my OTP end up together in heaven after they both died 😂😂😂

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Leoht Unfæger (Beyond Evil kdrama). Basically wrote a novella repairing my ship's relationship that the kdrama had done serious damage to. They got married in the end even though one half went to jail for contributing to the other half's sister's demise. Oh, and the same guy who went to jail also used to bang the sister 😂😂😂

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

Regularly! I'm pretty vocal about my likes and dislikes, and many times, by behavior has invited demons into me house. During my Black Clover fandumbing days, a crackhead used to make it their mission to leave hateful comments on my fics. I don't delete them however. Most of the time it makes me laugh bc you can figure out the speech patterns and tag exactly who it is that wrote it. I like to think ten years down the line, they'll look back on their clownery and let the shame eat them alive.

Yes!

10. Do you write crossovers?

It depends! During my kpoppie days, I did a crossover of my favorite band and one of my favorite kdramas, and never finished it (even though I have the ending outlined on paper). It really depends on the fandoms and if I find synergy between them.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Probably lol, but not that I know of. I grew up during the asianfanfics days, and used to post fanfiction on other sites before I got an AO3 account. It was not uncommon to see fanfiction stolen from LJ and other sites that were then posted to asianfanfics, which had a notorious plagiarism issue.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! I have three in circulation in the Russian language, and one that was translated into Chinese!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Nope, unless RPing during the third grade on Naruto forums counts as collaborating on fanfic 😂😂😂

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

It changes every day bc I am dynamic and go with me heart. But also note, for some of my favorite ships, I've either never written fanfiction for, or it's no longer available cuz I done deleted it, so I'll just note my CURRENT haunts (which may or may not be decades old... sad 😂).

Building dread, purple prosing, and writing the saddest sadz before giving folks the happy ending. I'm also a slowburn maestro. Love horror, but usually end up writing more romance than plain horror LOL 👽

I be overthinking shit, or I be outlining something and saying I'm finna write it but then I don't because I end up getting distracted by something else. I have a Prison Playbook kdrama fic outline that's nineteen pages long that I will never write out bc I got distracted by ANOTHER kdrama. I have OCD but that shit apparently has no impact on my publication goals 😭

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Love it! I'm fluent in multiple languages, so I love peppering in different languages in my fanfics, and regularly borrow from Hindi and Arabic language songs, poems, and other media to title fics. Maybe 30% of my fanfiction is inspired by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan songs. It do be like that sometimes djhfgdfgdf

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I genuinely don't remember anymore, it has been SO long. All I DO know is that I deleted it all because I was an embarrassed baby and really wish I hadn't. It can be anything between the following fandoms: Yugioh, X-Men comics, Bleach, Smallville, some variant of old teen movies, etc. I seriously don't remember which one, but ONE of them. lol.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

All of them. I bleed words. I be rereading my own fanfiction like they're the hottest novels on the stands. I try to read other fanfiction when the mood strikes, but I myself am my target audience, so I be writing things that I know I'm gonna reread years down the line. For example, my HxH fanfics are still my favorite fanfics from the fandom cuz nobody else was writing Hisoka/true!form!Bisky, and few people were dedicated to Melody/Kurapika. I'm a narcissist 👽👽👽

I know my first FF was naruto... but I think honestly it was because of my mom. She probably regrets it now HAHA but I know in first grade I was... having trouble writing, I think? I don't remember if it was because my writing in general was bad, or if my handwriting was the issue, but she made me a very decorated composition notebook and would give me prompts to write fictional things with. (Actually, I remember writing something about the Borg to make her laugh). From that point onward I off and on wrote fanfiction, but just didn't realize thats what it was called until I started getting into anime. I think there was some kinda break between first grade and anime central but...damb my mom helped me get started into this. everyone thank my mom.

I generally can't get into 'poster boy' charas from the games, I wish I could explain why? but generally they all seem to follow tropes that are hard for me to get into. I go on r/sex a lot to help find first person accounts of issues with sex or experiences at times, so 'weirdest' is hard... the tamest 'weirdest' thing was looking up any valid historical ways I could try to write pegging Shingen, but that spirailed into me finding the history of sex toys and lube and 'birth control' type stuff. but i thot it was interesting!!

Tygra from Thundercats. Had a friend when I was maybe ten and we'd hang out at recess and she'd make up Thundercats stories, and she loved picking on Tygra in these stories, so at some point I ended up going 'stop being mean to him, fuck it he's mine now' and I don't know if you'd call it a proper crush but there you go.

Danzo from Naruto perhaps - I mean it's not an 'oh my god I just love this guy' kind of thing as 'this dude is absolutely fascinating and compelling as a villain to the story who willingly makes himself the villain for the greater good and thereby maybe sees himself a sort of hero.' I enjoy him where most of fandom loves to just hate on him, and I definitely like him far better than any of the other villains that Naruto fandom adores

But also. Erik, Phantom of the Opera? Like yeah okay he's Got Issues he's murdered he's a stalker a manipulator etc etc but I have never felt inclined to root for anyone else in that story, sorry. He's probably the prime candidate if I was going to undertake to rewrite 'the story you think you know' a la Wicked or Maleficent

But I am a fan of the trend of taking classic stories and reworking them from new perspectives, different points of view, with the idea that the narrative we're used to being given may not be how it actually went. So…I'm inclined to view her sympathetically?

Which song makes you think of your OTP? Uh, for current otp, maybe it would be Ville Valo's Olet Mun Kaikuluotain? Not even lyrically, just. Vibes. Soft waltzy quiet cozy romance vibes and that's what I want for them

Which song makes you disassociate and daydream the fastest? Depends on several factors but usually it will be if a song is firmly attached to a story in my head, where the story is built on or around the song. Like there was a whole multi-incarnation backstory I had in my head for Goujun/Tenpou at one point in my Saiyuki days, springboarded from Nightwish's Ghost Love Score to some degree, and for awhile that song would put me deep in the thought-spinning for that (which of course I never wrote)

(if you haven't already answered this before:) how did you get into Ina11 and made you make this blog for it?

I dont think I've answered this before either (correct me if im wrong though). This goes under the cut like all of my long answers to personal asks...

For some context (this is relevant to my relationship with anime and fandom), I used to be nonverbal for the good 11-12-ish years of my life until I was traumatized out of it so now I'm semiverbal ((with like auditory hallucination, anxiety (general and social), depression, ptsd, etc)). I won't tell anything regarding this experience.

It's not really uncommon for Filipinos my age and older to be into anime because this is everything that the afternoon and morning television have for you. You would know naruto, goku, luffy, etc against your will and I was not immune to that. During that time also cable was really common (and was not paid per fucking channel, that started a few years later though) so I used to watch a lot of anime in Hero TV, Animax Ph, Cartoon Network PH, etc i dont remember the others.

I found inazuma eleven and other anime on one of them and got into it immediately (also because of my trauma) but because some personal things have to happen, I started watching all the anime I got into that time on illegal sites instead.

I was not an internet person and i cant get into chats because of the experience I've mentioned above so even though i like anime and have been reading every fanfiction about my fav shows that time and were even writing some of my own (mostly fairy tail and dbz but all are now deleted or orphaned), I never tried to get into any fandom (I am aware of how fandoms are because i had a personal twitter that i only use for rts that time but i never engaged because they were big fandoms who have... issues)... this was all until the pandemic happened.

After the pandemic, it was like people can understand my experiences suddenly and it made me feel like there are safe spaces now for me to be in so somewhere in 2021 I created a fandom tumblr and twitter account at the same time. Tumblr was overwhelming for me initially so I stayed in twitter (this is during my Encanto phase so my twitter has a small following even right now from that small fandom)... it was a so and so experience but it is my first so it was made better because of that small welcoming fandom...

A bit after that, I got into the naruto and dragon ball fandom which was a big mistake because it made me picked up some toxic feelings and even behaviour that I do not want. I tried learning tumblr more and decided that I'll stay here at the moment. I realized that the dragon ball fandom here actually have nicer people and are more mature and critical while being respectful of others so I enjoyed my tumblr stay!! I made a lot of dragon ball posts that gave me great tumblr mutuals that I still talk to to this day even after my dragon ball brainrot is gone.

Before 2022 ended, I needed a break because of some personal matters. I got into inazuma eleven again during this time after rewatching galaxy (i wanted to be inspired by their alien character designs but it had a different effect). It sparked my love for the series and made me reopen some old concepts and fanfic ideas I had for it before (this includes the vent fic I mentioned once where Kidou was evil, Endou was dead, Gouenji was a pediatrician, and Aki was the leader of a rebellion against kageyama's reign with Fudou by her side). And then, I started writing new ones nonstop for about 4 months (80k words for two different fanfic series btw that are both unfinished).

I started following some inazuma eleven blogs in May this year until I feel like I needed to make posts myself at about the start of June. The fandom had the encanto vibe to me with a cross to how old fandoms feel so it was really nice to be here!! And the rest is history ig?? hehe

i feel like fandom has undeveloped my brain 😭 i never engaged w fandom as a teenager or even much as an adult like only in this iteration of being on tumblr aside from the occasional anti-imperialist naruto long meta. when i was 16-20(?) it was marxism and artist blogging and i even remember going to some counter protests against white supremacists and proud boy type groups because tips were shared on tumblr... but i stopped when white comrades would take photos of me and my uni friend cuz we were visibly poc despite wearing a black t shirt over our faces... and it was really cool to be distinct and transparent about this stuff, but anyway i was literally like 'its totally cool to read these theorists, this is how i become a cool person and now i engage in fandom where ppl fight all the time even if they agree w eachother and people make irl censorship issues abt fanfiction and blame china, russian hackers, or middle easterners/"muslim extremists" for every minutia inconvenience that occur and that level of racism and misinfo/idiocy gets excused all the time for being sheltered whites, from north america/europe, and anxiety/neurodivergency. i'm re-evaluating...
