"Tasuki" is in reference to a specific type of sash used to hold up the sleeves of a kimono (Wikipedia link). It doesn't 100% resemble the sash we see here, but it did seem to be the word they used to describe it. When "tasuki" was put in quotes (up by the Tenebris-looking designs) I kept it as explicity "tasuki," but down in the illustrator's note I translated it as "sash" for clarity.

"Grrrrr...." is actually a mnemonic sort of word that's an internet slang term for "blood boiling"/"furious and speechless". There were a few forum posts I found about it, and most people seemed to agree that there isn't a great English equivalent. "Grrr....." kind of gets the general meaning across though.

"Pulling up vers." on the hoods was sort of a weird one. I'm guessing it's sort of supposed to mean "lowered," but it seemed to be using a word more like "raising." I might be missing something connotation/context wise there.

[id: The first two out of the five images are the original Japanese pages for Exharme and Sorsley's concept art. The next image is a translation of the bottom half of the first page. It has several notes detailing motifs of Exharme and Sorsley's outfits. Next to Exharme it reads, "The subtle underlying theme is that of a snake (a poisonous creature). If possible, avoid overly emphasizing it in his design and features." There is also a note pointing to a small Next to Sorsley it reads, "The subtle underlying theme is that of a frog (a poisonous creature). Exharme was supposed to be a "young entrepreneur", so I made him a handsome man who prided himself on success. The next image has the basic Seven Saints' robe design. It shows the front view (both with and without the cloak hanging open) and the back view (both with the hood up and hood down). There is a note near the front open robe image that reads, "If you close the front, you won't be able to see the "tasuki" so you'll want to keep it open," and another that reads, "The color is dark, but it looks shiny and expensive." There is also a note about the robes having a silk-like luster, as well as another that points to the golden emblem on the back of their robe that reads "Country C Emblem". There are then several different versions of Exharme's design, one of which has short hair that hangs in his face and has a small "Mwahahaha...." note next to it. There are then two more drawings, one of Exharme and one of Sorsley, that have a red box around them labeled "MOST PROMISING SO FAR". Sorsley has a note that reads, "Grr....." next to him, while Exharme looks to be shouting, "Do you really think you can match me!?" There is another illustrator's note at the bottom that reads, "The Seven Saints' garb is comprised of white robes similar to a clergyman's and a purple sash, which gives it a noble color. So mentioned Jera-in-Gira checks out his right arm and Taisei laughed embarrassingly, looking over to Yuzuki and said he practised Jeramie's hand movements.

Yuzuki: Wait wait wait. This happened that morning at the entrance of the studio. When I was coming back to the studio, Taisei was coming the other way. He keeps doing Jeramie's hand. *mimics Taisei mimics Jeramie's tosa hand*.

Taisei: I was practising this scene. "'This means...' Ah it's Yuzuyan."

[Rita sitting down]

So: Rita's new pose sitting down is a big surprise too. It's quite different from what we've seen so far.

Yuzuki: I was waiting for the cameras to get ready. Because the sword is so heavy, I put it down and leaned on it to wait. They told me it's alright to sit down for a bit, and that ended up in the OP.

Masashi: That pose is cool.

So: It fits Rita's character.

Masashi: What do you guys think of the throne? Is it cool?

So: Kaguragi and Himeno are arguing about the dumbbell in this scene, but over here (Yanma & Rita) something's happening too. This scene is always fun to watch and rewatch every time.

Yuzuki: Gira and Jeramie's reaction is fun to watch too. *confused about how to call Jera-in-Gira, Masashi corrects her* Gira-in-Jera is always *mimics Gira's wide-eyed confusion* and behind him is like *mimics Jeramie's open arms*

Taisei: We filmed more footage than usually needed for this scene.

So: The director let us act freely in this scene so it came out fun.

Taisei: Yes, everyone got to show their personality.

Erica: Right. We were like playing around.

Masashi: We were enjoying ourselves too much, weren't we?

Erica: It was very chaotic at first, during table read.

So: Right, Kamihori-san told us to act freely. He instructed us one-by-one what mannerisms to pay attention to as another character.

Erica: The dumbbell wasn't in the script at first. 

Masashi: Was Kaguragi ever a bodybuilder?

So: No, but he's a power-type character and we want to show that. We thought of slicing the throne in half, but that's impossible of course. Takada Masashi-san (Spider Kumonos SA) suggested the dumbbell.

Erica: Tera-san (Teramoto Shugo, Hachi Ohger SA) said it should fly away.

So: Does Rita do the Moffun chirps themself?

Yuzuki: Rita does, but here was Aoto's improvisation on set. 

(mofu note: Yuzuki keeps using 勝手に to describe Aoto. a little bit accusing that he's doing all these by himself (light-hearted of course), as she later revealed that Aoto didn't discuss with her at all how to portray Rita. It fits with Aoto's style that he prefers the on-set chemistry and doesn't discuss much with the N'kosopa team as well.)

So: Why does Himeno have a second dumbbell when the first one is swept away?!

17:27 Yuzuki & So: *mimics Ootono-sama arm in sync*

[🤔Kaguragi vs. Himeno]

Erica: I don't quite understand (the nuance of) Kaku-san's chin-touching gesture so I asked the director. He said that was touching his beard. But Himeno sometimes touches the tip of her chin when thinking too, so I need to open my thumb and forefinger wider (to grab my whole chin).

Yuzuki: *laughing under her breath*

Erica: What?

Masashi: Don't just laugh sneakily.

Yuzuki: No! XD Taisei is saying in a small voice, "it feels nice to rub the stubs" XD Only I heard him. He keeps muttering something like "じょりじょり" right next to my ear! XD

Taisei: I just resonated with the scene.

So: Right, when the beard grows back a little.

[Erica's ad-lib: "Muscles to protect the people!"]

Masashi: The legendary line is here.

So: Mari is awesome for reacting to my ad-lib so quickly. She asked me if there are more exercises than just the bicep curl, and I said the side raise. She asked, "Then what muscles does this train?" "I'm not sure..."

Then filming started... no, that was during the test, she answered "Muscles to protect the people!"

Erica: The truth is I forgot the names of the arm muscles.

Taisei: I was next to Kamihori-san. He said, "Genius."

Erica: Well, this is the fruit of everyone's hard work.

Yuzuki: this shot when everyone switched to serious mode when the enemy shows up is cool.

Erica too focused in playing Kaguragi her elbow was scratched by the shugoddom chair's handle.

Aoto memo #4: "Rita's line "Been waiting for you" is super cool I want to say it. Jealousy Brasieri."

Yuzuki: *faces camera* Um. Aoto. Can you not do a silly pun in a letter? I am the one who has to read it out.

Taisei: Somehow I can see and hear that in Aoto's voice and his expression.

That line is added on set by Kamihori. Yanma had beef with Goma because he attacked N'kosopa in ep27.

Yuzuki: Usually I'll do the pon pon sound too, but this is all Aoto's idea here. "I can't always just hold Moffun in my hand." So he asked the prop master to pin it onto him. There isn't a pocket on his jacket. "Will it stay if I pat it?" He didn't do the Moffun pat in the test though, just the actual take.

Erica: This is me trying my best to bring about that physique after the director told me to observe Kaku-san. My inner thighs ended up hurting a lot because of the squats. But that was good exercise for blood circulation so any swelling is gone now.

Taisei added an "Ahh~ ああ~っ❤" in post-recording, Masahi said if it was him, it would've been "Uhn~"

Taisei: But you can barely hear it in the final product thought. It got covered up by the sound effects. *holds imaginary crown above head* /kachaan! Ahh~

Yuzuki pointed out it's a nice distinction that Gira-in-Jera turns back first hearing his name is called. Taisei replied that it's Kamihori's instruction. They loved the scene of the two's back.

(J!Gira says thank you when the woman clarified she is worried for instead of about the bugnarok)

Masashi: a good expression. a good expression.

[Staff: How do Taisei & Masshi achieve such good acting?]

Masashi: "What would Gira do?" "What would Jeramie do?"...

Taisei: We discussed it in length until the actual filming day.

Masashi: And we did the voice tuning together too!

Taisei: I asked him to repeat his lines for me...

Masashi: And he would mimic it from there on.

Taisei: Maybe we actually switched.

Masashi: Because we became good friends with each other, we can give that performance without talking. It's like we actually switched. That's the story.

So: Next time when you're asked what you like about your fellow cast, you can just mimic it.

Taisei & Masashi: Yes.

Masashi: Even the little details.

Taisei: Even the tiny details? Every nook and cranny?

Masashi: That's enough for now!

Masashi, So like that Himeno had to get hands-on and improved Toufu's medical care.

The wasabi used is a high-class one, worth 2,000yen each. Three were prepared. Yoshimitsu-san (Sebas) told them at the end of the day not to waste it and it was distributed among the crew.

Taisei squeezed his eyes to figure out if the river background is composite. It's LED wall.

Good wasabi only grows in good water so the crop is suitable for Ishabana where water is an important design element.

(Putting down the wasabi root on Sebastian's tray) Erica: It's important to inject that power into my movements.

So: I like the "sore ha nani yori" line after here.

[Yanma & Rita's prisoner hamster wheel]

Yuzuki: No really, everyone is having such a touching scene, what ARE we doing?! Gira and Jeramie moved forward peace between humans and bugnaroks. Himeno and Kaguragi understood each other better and with a touching piano bgm too. What ARE we doing? It's meaningless to just send prisoners back and forth. Why did our relationship become worse?

Erica: For the two of you, arguing is proof that you are friends with each other. 

Yuzuki: These two synced on the wrong channel. "What ARE we doing?!" Yanma said so too.

Aoto memo #6: "What are we doing?!"

They all laughed at Yanma's exasperated sigh picking up the phone.

[Baka Ninja]

They like the "idiot ninja" line and Yuzuki said it's actually corrected in dubbing. The original line is something like "It's back". Since Rita has their mouth covered, it's easy to correct their lines in post.

(mofu note: I remember Yuzuki said something similar but I forgot the source. Sometimes her lines are cut for the same reason too, just because the director thinks it's cooler if Rita doesn't speak there.)

[Final fight]

Erica's second Kaguragi henshin is her second take. She kinda overdid it the first time, it looked a bit silly.

They can't distinguish who yelled "お待だせ" for Gira and Jeramie.

Masashi: (when they switch back) Gira's laughter here is cute. "A ha ha".

Finisher: cool

[BAAN vs. Bang!]

Masashi: That BAAN is not me at all! I'm certain! This is Tai-pi's Baang.

So: How do you usually say it then?

Masashi: Just Bang! (shorter, less blunt)

Taisei: No, I said it in an earlier take!

Masashi: You did. The one you couldn't quite get right.

Taisei: When I'm doing the "Bang!", it doesn't quite sound like Jeramie. But in the end, I went with the version that gives it his all for the "Bang"

[Assassination]

Masashi: The madness in Morfo's expression is incredible.

Masashi: Mari, how many times did you get hit?

Erica: At first I was supposed to get hit four times, but to sync with the others' timing, it got cut down to two times.

Aoto memo #7: "23:04 The kings have fallen?! What will happen next?!"

They filmed this scene multiple times so everyone falls at the same time.

Yuzuki: Shiokara's bat is too fast and I only have one eye, it's hard to give reaction to that.

[AFTERTALK]

Erica is surprised to find out everyone agrees on what they find interesting.

Masashi mentioned they had doubts and worries when they first received the script, but they enjoyed it a lot. The director told them that it's going to be a hard episode to film, especially for Erica, all mysteriously before handing them the script, so she felt a bit of pressure there. During table read, Kamihori was the most tense. They mixed up who speak which lines that led to lots of laughs. That in turn gave them a bit of confidence, because they were worried the comedic bits were not gonna hit.They also learn to understand a character different from their own better.

Aoto didn't discuss with Yuzuki at all how to portray Rita at all. So explained that Aoto said Yuzuki would ban his ideas if he talked to her. Yuzuki said she won't but the boys disagree. Because Aoto did what he wanted with Rita, the possibilities of Rita's character has expanded upon his interpretation as well. Same goes for other characters.

You quickly double-tapped the edit, saving it right after. You closed your Instagram before turning your phone off and sighing. You glanced up, watching as the several bodies of strangers rushed by. All desperate to be somewhere, all craving to leave someplace. You looked down before leaning your chin on your propped-up knee, waiting for something interesting to happen. You were, in no way, prepared for what happened next.

“Excuse me, are you (Y/n)?” A very familiar voice asked. You turned around, opening your mouth to say yes but stopping in your tracks. The reason the voice had sounded so familiar was because you had been watching him talk to a webcam for 12 years. You made a noise before closing your mouth.

“Oh my God, hi… Yeah, I’m (Y/n) and you’re Phil Lester. How odd.” You said with a laugh. He seemed to recognize you too, for he smiled.

“Oh, this is so weird! The fact that we’re both at the same airport and I happen to be looking for someone named (Y/n). It really must be a small world.” He replied. You nodded before scooting over a little, giving him room to sit.

“Guess it is.” You said. He glanced at you before coughing.

“So have you just landed?” He asked, trying to make small talk.

“Oh yeah, I’ve been here for a little bit… I’m just waiting for someone.” You replied, pulling your phone out.

“Ah, I see… I’m supposed to meet someone here… Which you already knew…” He replied, laughing quietly. You laughed with him, and it was like you could feel the awkwardness choking you.

“I think I should call him, make sure I got the place right. Excuse me for a second.” He said, pulling his phone out of his back pocket. You nodded as he stood up, walking a little ways away from you before presumably calling the guy he was waiting for. You were about to open Snapchat when your phone began to ring. You glanced at the number and recognized it as your brother’s. You went to answer but were interrupted by a loud yell.

“No!” Phil shouted. You looked up with a questioning scowl as you saw his shocked face.

“What’s wrong?” You asked, worry lacing your voice as you stood up. His mouth was slightly agape as he stared at you.

“You… You’re… You’re my brother!” He shouted. Your eyebrows furrowed, but before you could ask what he meant, he tapped his phone and showed you a dialing screen that read (Y/n). Your phone began to ring once more, and suddenly everything clicked.

Your eyes were wide as you stared at the screen, still in shock. Phil Lester was your half-brother. You were Phil Lester’s half-brother. His face displayed the same amount of disbelief as yours. It was like you both knew it was true, but believing it was a different matter. You swallowed before making your way back to the bench, sitting down and dropping your head into your hands.

“I don’t… I don’t know what to say. I can’t believe… Holy shit…” You muttered. Phil sat down next to you, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

“This is insane.” He whispered. You sighed before sitting up.

“Yeah, I could barely wrap my head around the fact that I had a brother, and now I’m finding out that it’s you.” You replied.

“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” He asked, laughing quietly and trying to lighten the mood. Your eyes widened.

“Oh no, t-that’s not how I meant it! I just… I’ve been watching you on youtube since like, the year you started and it’s just crazy… You know…” You replied.

“Calm down, I was just joking.” He replied with a smile. You laughed quietly before sighing.

“So what now?” You asked. Phil grabbed his phone and checked the time before standing up.

“Well, I say the original plan. Go to yours and when the movers arrive I’ll help you unpack I guess. I believe Dan is out too so maybe we can stop by mine afterward. That way we won’t have to deal with him.” He replied. You raised your eyebrows, a bit of sadness mixed with mild relief because even though you would’ve given anything to meet him, you knew you’d probably freak out.

“I say that because he’s the biggest fangirl and… Well, you know how that goes.” He said with a laugh. You laughed quietly with him, even though you were surprised. Sure, Dan mentioned you in a lot of videos, you just always thought he was joking. That he didn’t even watch you and he was just being nice. You swallowed before grabbing your luggage.

“So he does really watch my videos?” You asked casually, trying not to sound too desperate or hopeful. Phil nodded, walking over to your bags and helping you pick a few up.

“Oh yeah. He’s obsessed with you. He’s got you on post and owns like all of your merch. Don’t tell him I told you that though.” He replied. You laughed quietly, a smile resting on your face.

“Well, I can’t say I’m not flattered.” You replied. He gave a small smile before beginning to walk down the pavement and towards the entrance.

“Just wait until I tell him you’re my brother. God, his face is gonna be priceless.” He said. You laughed before nodding.

“Can’t wait for that. Make sure you record for me.” You replied. He laughed before nodding.

“Will do.”

a guide filled with basic info, tips, and answers to common questions that i hope helps people who want to start making graphics

*this was made based on my experiences of making graphics and is what i thought was important to cover but everyone has different ways and approaches so dont feel the need to follow everything on here

what is a graphic?

a graphic (also known as ‘gfx’) is a image edit that incorporates various elements (textures, filters, text, etc) in order to visualize a idea or to create a aesthetic composition 

unlike making gifs, there is no right or proper way to make a graphic so dont get too caught up in the idea that a graphic should look a certain way - just stick with your style and what you think looks good

usually the main focus of the whole graphic

you should always try to use a sharp hd picture - getting it from the original source is always the best option 

make sure the source of the picture allows editing - pictures from public sources like a company or the news can be edited while fansite pics and scans need to have permission asked (and if they give you permission make sure you link them when you post your graphic!)

coloring 

often referred as ‘psd’ because that is the format they are in (i.e. pink psd pack)

comprise of multiple layers that can alter the images look 

a lot of people make their own colorings since the outcome of the look also depends on the image’s original coloring 

textures

smaller cut out images that are often used to decorate the graphic

can also refer to a image that can be use as a background of a graphic

can be found in the form of a png (copy + paste into graphic) or a brush (”painted” on to the graphic) 

avoid using any textures that does not state the original poster made them - you could unintentionally be using someone’s work that was not made to be used [read more about it here + resources that you can actually use]

text

text can be used to tell information or just for decoration

try to choose fonts and colors that are legible

what software can i use to make graphics

most people use some version of photoshop (i currently use photoshop cc 2018) and a lot people have it cracked but if you cant afford photoshop, find a cracked version or a patcher (i used adobe zii 3.0.4 for mac), or are uncomfortable with getting a cracked version then there are other softwares that are just as good!

i can only vouch for gimp since i used it when i first started making gfxs. it is very similar to photoshop and shares most of the same tools and has a similar look to photoshop. it is also probably the most popular photoshop alternative and would totally recommend it if you cant get photoshop!

where do you get your pictures from

official sources such as teasers companies release, photos released by press, photos from idol’s instagram - basically photos that are made for the public to see are whats best to use for a gfx. you should download the photos straight from the source so you get it at its highest quality 

some phrases you can use to search for pictures on google: - [group name] photoshoot - [idol name] press  - [group name] showcase  - [idol name] teaser

remember the more specific you are in your search the better! also when you search through google make sure you check your source!

avoid getting photos from reposting websites like we heart it and pinterest  avoid using fansite pictures and scans unless you are granted permission

i don’t know where to start/i’m overwhelmed and i don’t know what to do/ where should i begin

figure out what you want to make or a theme you want to follow - do you want to make a simple graphic or a infographic? do you want it to center around a certain theme like a comeback or a photoshoot? once you determine what you want to do it becomes easier getting ideas and finding stuff you will need for the gfx

example thought process: “i want to make a loona graphic” →  do you want it to be the whole group or a certain member or unit? will it just be a simple gfx or a AU gfx or based on a event that the group is doing? “i’ve decided on doing a kim lip one” → do you want it to have a certain theme like kim lip smiling or kim lip with blonde hair? is there a certain frame of time in which you want the graphic to represent like during eclipse era or hi high era?  “i want it to be from max and match era with her teasers” → from here you can start finding pictures to use and thinking of colors and textures that would fit your theme

where do you get ideas/inspiration from

i mean it’s different for everyone but for me i literally just think of stuff and i’m like wow i want to make that happen asdfsdfj but mostly when i see pictures or watch something thats where i suddenly get a idea 

but tumblr is full of graphic makers!!! ive seen so many amazing graphics from various fandoms like kpop, anime, marvel, etc. 

some amazing graphic editors i know myself include: primirene, ireone, nctjaemin, celo-mar, 1hyungseo, jeongahn, haechxnie, sonxiumin, syua, lulumelody, dinomite, lovelyeo, joohys, whatchatalkabout, yveu, maerinah, mihyon, lorbits, cherryjennie, thatporcelain, monoka, ifbin, 7ww

some other places you can look at are behance (dont go on behance if you have a cracked ver of ps - it might trigger a ingenue software alert that is a huge pain to deal with), pinterest, deviantart, dribble, and probably any social media platform if you just look up #graphicdesign

remember if you take inspiration from someone’s work then you should cite them in your caption - if you are afraid that you might’ve accidentally copied someone when you were trying to take inspiration from them its best to either try to remake the gfx again or just to ask the creator permission if its fine if certain details are similar/same

my stuff sucks how do i get better

literally just keep on making stuff aka practice. you can’t improve if you don’t bother putting effort. 

ways i’ve forced myself into practicing making gfxs is by: 1) starting a gfxs series - its self paced and is based on what you want to make (i.e. introducing my biases gfx series, my favorite outfits gfx series, etc) 2) taking in requests - people who would request from you probably like your stuff so its a win win situation (i.e. send me a idol + era, send me your bias + palette, send me a group and i’ll make a gfx of my fav member, etc)

tips

only sharpen your pictures after you are done resizing them, if you sharpen and then resize it might result in a more blurry or grainy picture 

always save your graphic every 5-10 mins in case photoshop crashes 

 have two copies of your image cutout: one will be the original and the other one will be the one you edit with - in case you mess up like over erasing or over sharpening your image you have a back up you can use

stick with a color palette so you don’t get overwhelmed when having to color everything and it makes all the graphic panels you have look more cohesive 

on photoshop you can favorite fonts!!! take advantage of it!!! your computer has a lot of fonts saved on it and it takes forever to look through a whole list of fonts so by favoring fonts you can see all of the fonts that you like to use for graphics

combine a png pack to one psd → when you open a png pack you will probably get a lot of png files and it gets annoying having a lot of tabs open in photoshop when most of them are just textures so by putting all of those pngs into one psd you can cut down the files you open and can easily see all of your options 

make folders dedicated to colorings and textures that way you can easily access them instead of looking through your computer for a certain file

name your layers... i dont do it because its easy for me to tell what layer is what but when you are working with a lot of layers its best just to name them it’ll make life easier

lock your main image/subject so that when you play with texts’ and textures’ location you don’t accidentally move your main image

use curves to help get a photo back to its original coloring! like if you have a photo that has a weird filter on it just use curves and it’ll help the picture look more natural! [tutorial]

try warping your text to make it stand out more! you can access it by pressing the icon on the top text bar that has a T with a curved line under it. i use flag and wave the most

alter a particular color by using a selective color layer

rather than changing the actual color of an image/texture you can: create new layer → select the image/texture and color it on the new layer instead of on top of the image/texture → change the opacity or the mode of the layer so that the color is put on the image/texture while keeping its detailing and not affecting the actual image/texture

resources

colorings: can be found on deviantart or tumblr just look up ‘psd coloring’ or ‘[color] psd’ 

textures: can be found on deviantart (check to see if its og content or stolen) simply just search what you are trying to find or ‘png pack’ or ‘texture pack’ common textures you can try to find: vintage flowers, memphis shapes, organic shapes, doodles other wesbites: pngtree, creative market, lost and taken, spoongraphics

fonts: if you are looking for a certain font then you can just do a google search but if you are browsing then dafont and font squirrel are really good websites too some of my favorite fonts: abril fatface, agfatumc, antonellie calligraphy, arcadeclassic, bebas neue, century gothic, couture, daily news 1915, dark larch, hondurhas, kotori rose, krinkles, risingstar, sant joan despi, studly, zing rust

color palettes: i made one myself which you can find here, color hunt, and honestly a quick google search will give you tons of options

Man, I feel like with the top/bottom 'discourse' in the fandom, that artists caption is kind of deliberately provocative. Sort of, like, this is my stance and you aren't allowed to read anything else into the artwork. I get that its their piece but the work isn't really a depiction of that. Are we signing off our top/bottom preference under everything we post now?

truth be told, i just don’t care. if that’s how they want to view it, if that’s how they want people to see their stuff, then fine, whatever. who cares. it’s anyone’s choice whether to be upset over that artists’ preference. even if they’re being deliberate about their stance, who cares. just know that at the end of the day, you can still view that work the way you want. you can still like your preference regardless of what someone else prefers.

and while i’m at it, i just have to say that this discourse nonsense is ridiculous to me. where did it start? i’m not saying that there wasn’t a post or comment that started this whole thing, however, what i’m seeing is this-

one post is made about their preference - or whatever the fuck the post was about that kickstarted it.

everyone sees it or a handful of people see it so then let’s say, three new posts are made with the argument about how it shouldn’t matter. like what you like.

then people who see those three posts will generate their own, which leads to let’s say, another three or four posts.

it’s a tree and branches is what i’m getting at.

meaning, this whole ass discourse wasn’t even discourse to begin with. everyone had to chime in with their ‘it doesn’t matter’ and ‘like what you like’ posts which escalated the problem and made it seem bigger than it actually was.

one small, insignificant comment or post blew up due to people posting their version of their view, which has all pretty much been the same response.

i’m also tired of people reblogging posts that specify who tops or bottoms and then clarifies in the tags that they’re vers but this was a good post. like, jfc. i’m not gonna defend myself and neither should anyone else. i keep seeing that on my gif set inspired by a funny post where it “suggested” steve was a bottom. like, the gif set was meant to be funny. it doesn’t specify my preference. it wasn’t meant to specify other people’s preference either. just reblog it and enjoy it for what it is while also knowing that you enjoy vers without defending yourself to other people.

i’m rolling my fuckin eyes. and this isn’t at you specifically, anon. i’m just tired of reading posts about how who tops/bottoms shouldn’t matter. i’m more annoyed with that than someone who states what they likes at this point.

How to make responsive themes

A very basic tutorial

This tutorial was requested by an anonymous person. I hope I got to explain well!

difficulty: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ You really need to know your way with html and css, plus, you’ll have to style all the other stuff (text decorations, links, dates, audio, asks..) on your own.

I’ll explain only how to wrap correctly the tumblr’s blocks and the very basic structure of a responsive theme. I’ll not explain how to, for example, how to put dates, captions, tags, pagination, and other custom stuff, okay :)

✩⁺˚ Basic Base Code ✩⁺˚

I did a base code so I make this tutorial following the code, to avoid issues. First thing is to understand what we have in the code. We have our blocks and variables and I wrapped the inner content of the {block:Posts} with a .post{ } div. To make a sucessful responsive layout, you must work with CONTAINERS. That’s why I wrapped the outer content together with the block:posts with a .posts{ } div.

I did the same thing with the sidebar. I have boxes with my content with a .box{ } div. And an outer div wrapper with a .sidebar{ } div. Wrapping everything, both sidebar and posts wrapper (with all the sub wrappers inside), I used .content { } because we need a container for the whole page. That’s the basic to make a responsive layout.

Important: So if you don’t want to use this base, and want only to integrate the wrapper divs on your codes instead. Just look for {block:posts} {/block:posts} and wrap everything inside with a div (mine is .post). Then wrap the outside (including the block:posts) with another div (mine is .posts).

This an example of a simple markup with wrappers:

Now, it’s the CSS part (<style></style>).

In the base code there is already a {CustomCSS} line with a comment. That’s the variable for us to be able to make the customizations in the advanced options section. I like to use this instead of copying the source code and using other editor. This way, you can apply the css and see the changes live. We also have a universal selector with a box-sizing border-box, a nice trick that make our paddings look nice and not shit.

First thing you need to do is apply a flexible css to the content. That’s basically the most important action to make while creating a responsive layout. In the Add Custom CSS section, paste the following code:

.content{   width:80%;   margin:1em auto;   max-width:800px; }

What we did? width:80% is to make sure our content will always have a width of 80% no matter what screen size your blog is being viewed. use the chrome inspector tool (ctrl+shift+i) to resize the screen and see that the content will never touch the window sides and it will always be centered.There are things like images and pre codes overwriting the window, but that’s other css styles you’ll need to search to fix.

The text itself is already responsive! We also used margin auto to center the content. And the 1em value is relative to the top and bottom, giving the content some air to breathe. We also give a max-width of 800px for the content to look nice in desktop version. Without shrink everything and look more solid on computer’s screen.

Moving on.. now is the part to pay a lot of attention: The posts and sidebar. First thing, add these lines to the css part:

.posts{   width:70%; float:right; } .post{   background:#f5f5f5;   padding:1em;   max-width:500px;   margin-bottom:5em; }

Like I said before, we need containers to make a responsive layout. .posts { } is our posts container and .post { } is our post-box div. Since .posts is a child of .content{ } if you give it a width of 70%, it will be relative to the parent (content) and not the window. This is good to make all the posts floating to one side. That’s why we apply the float here, instead of the post boxes itself, to avoid a mess in the code.

In the .post{ } section, is where you’ll apply some css to your posts. Using max-width will make it more solid on desktop, same as the content, and margin-bottom is to make the posts boxes have a space between them.

Now it’s the sidebar’s time. Add this:

.sidebar{   position:fixed;   width:20%;   top:50%;   transform:translateY(-50%); } .box{   background:#f1f2;   padding:1em;   margin-bottom:3em;  max-width:200px;   }

It’s the same method as the .posts and .post. .sidebar is the wrapper and .box is the sidebar box. The only change I made is that I gave the sidebar wrapper a fixed position and used a little trick to center it. Like the post box, I added a max-width to make it solid. This is the responsive layout so far:

Noticed that we didn’t added any complicated css stuff until now, we’re only working with percentages and max-widths. that’s the most basic rule I’ve learned when started to try responsive layout.

The only step we need to finish this basic responsive layout, is  to apply css to certain screen sizes. Because we don’t want the content all smushed in a mobile device. We want our content displayed as blocks one on top of each other. For that, we’ll use @media queries.

We need a breakpoint to literally break our theme when the device’s screen size changes. For this simple layout we’ll use a breakpoint of 670px. If you want to make sure how to find this value, save your theme until now, go to the blog, inspect it with chrome and use the responsive tool to resize the screen and see where the content is start to look funny.

Then, we’ll use this code:

/* responsive */ @media(max-width:670px){

}

This means: when the device of the person who is viewing your theme, is 670px wide or less, a certain bit of css will change the content’s appearance. Every code should be inside the media query’s brackets!

To make our current layout responsive for mobile, all we need to do is unset some things and apply width of 100%. Let’s start with our sidebar, since our content does not need edition, unless you want it bigger on mobile, then you must add a new .content{ } inside the @media query and added a width of 90%, for example.

Now, to edit the sidebar on mobile, inside the @media query, add:

.sidebar{    position:static;    width:100%;    transform: none;    margin:3em auto;

} .box{    max-width:none;    width:100%; }

what we’ve changed? Since our sidebar was fixed positioned, we unset that using position:static, the default position of everything html. Instead of a width of 20% we now use 100% to make sure the sidebar will fill all the content, its parent. We also, unset the transform css we used to center the sidebar, and added a margin top and bottom of 3em to have some room between the top of the window and posts.

Since we don’t need the solid layout anymore, we unset the max-width of the box and added a 100% width just for consistence purpose.

The best way to see what you’ll need to unset when breaking your theme into a mobile version, is just to look what codes you used on the desktop ver and try to change on mobile. widths, positions, etc.

Now, it’s the posts time. We also have a max-width, a float and a width applied on our desktop version. All we need to do is unset that:

.posts{    float:none;    width:100%;

} .post{    max-width:none;    width:100%; }

We made sure our post wrapper are not floating to the left anymore and unset the max-width of our post boxes. We’ve also added a 100% width to both wrapper and box div.

Now our theme is fully responsive!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I need to talk about is:

apply font-size of 1em and a line-height o f 1.8  to the body so the font will be nice in every screen size. If you think that the font is too big for desktop, you can apply the font to .8em, for example, and 1em in the media query.

body{ font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.8; }

apply a max and width of 100% to images and players:

.post img{   max-width:100%;   height:auto;   display:block; } .tmblr-full {   margin:0;   max-width:100%; } .tumblr_audio_player{  width:100%; }

To avoid the pre code (if you have on your posts) to overwrite the post box, use this css:

pre{   white-space:pre-line; }

Okay Kpop recs here we go! Day6 - Shoot me (has a great hook and chorus, Rock pop genre) KARD - Bomb Bomb (I really like the chorus, is a hype song) Stray Kids - Awkard Silence (kinda a gag song but it puts me in a good mood, it’s just funny) SEVENTEEN - Home (this group has one of the best vocals in Kpop and this song is just soft) NCT 127 - Cherry Bomb/Regular (Eng ver) both these songs are basic and well known but still bops. Hope you like I tried to include different vibes.

I can’t believe I forgot K-rock is a thing!! I’ve been spoiled on the choreographed dancing of straight Kpop but it’s quite refreshing to see an actual band playing their own instruments!

so it’s about a dysfunctional relationship where they get into increasingly nasty arguments. relatable

I’m sorry but one of the lines is ‘it hurts really bad’ and I just sdflkjfj WOW SO POETIC

I just noticed the single tear rolling out of his eye this is so dramatic

Overall: a little bit ‘ow the edge’ but I really enjoy their sound!! it is very likely I will revisit this band, I’m curious about their other stuff.

KARD | Bomb Bomb

1st watch:

yooooo this group has men and women?? how is this the first time I’m seeing a mix?? that’s rad!

is it just me or does this seem both musically and visually inspired by Bollywood, just a little bit? I’m digging it

the chorus IS a banger you’re right

so far the English words I can make out are “drank” “thirsty for this” and “she want it, dripping like a faucet”. between that and the weird masculine woofs in the background, I’m a bit uncomfortable

I think if this was entirely in English it’d just sound like another trashy party song. I dig the beat, but when did Kpop groups get so sultry? does anybody remember Gee?? I remember Gee. can we go back a decade? ;-;

there were only Korean subs but I wanted to check the bits of English and yyyep :/

Overall: I prefer Kpop to not sound so much like sexy Western party crap, we get more than enough of that over here. I like the beat, and the impressive dancing, but I need more wholesome content. Might revisit because I’m intrigued by the gender mix, and first impressions can be wrong.

genuine question: is there a reason for the Spanish words sometimes found in Kpop? I’ve noticed it in multiple songs and groups over the years, is there a specific geographical / cultural influence or is it just Because?

I haven’t gained anything from knowing the lyrics except a vague sense of irritation

Business Card: Final Mock before printing

Just to make a quick note of the final design, it didn’t take much to come to this conclusion, only because I knew that I wanted the front to act as a small poster to the overall installation, and I wanted the back to be the most simple and formal thing you could ever see on a business by someone like myself. The design of this business card overall came to represent my project as a whole, with the idea of the framed portrait on the front being inspired again by the diagram of the preuniverse by Robert Fludd and his image of And so on to Infinity ( And so on to infinity-(Robert Fludd 1617)-Source: Eugene Thacker, Public Domain Review(2015)).

My business card is seeking to contemporise this image by working in that lovecraftian horror aspect of something abhuman looming in the darkness beyond our comprehension (The piece chosen was ‘Fleck’ from the 63, it is the 62nd image in the collection)

This piece is about the insignificance of man in the face of the abhuman and the unknown universe, typically written by Lovecraft to represent flecks of light in absolute darkness and noumena, so it’s fitting for my themes and especially fitting for the installation as the portal into the unknown within contemporary art. The only details left in the front are used here to commemorate the show itself, the title noumena being my project, the date being based on the fact that this is a 2022 show and collection, given I date everything by the year and not by the day or month also, keeps things more direct yet mysterious that way, almost as if I’m hiding the event of the actual exhibition and yet saying it definitely was made and happened in relative history as a 2022 event etc. With the last detail being my alias, all text is in a Baskerville font, one of my favourites due to it’s somewhat gothic and slick design. The back was easy enough, here are featured my IG, email, and website, in this order only out of priority as my IG is my main focus really, the website had to be converted into a QR code with a cheeky title of ‘Deoffal’s domain’ only because the URL link was too long for the card and looked hideous just wedged at the bottom of the overall cleanness of the back of the card, it wouldn’t have looked right at all. However, this also adds some accessibility and ease of access to my site, as everyone can use a QR scanner nowadays and this process stops people from having to archaically type out the entire URL. Plus, if they looks after the card enough then the QR code will work so long as the card isn’t tampered with or torn, it’s like a physical key into the digital world of my website, all from one scannable entrance etc. The other icons on this back when added out of the likeness they have to typical email and IG logos that you see everyone, saves me having to explain what the words mean when the brain fills in the gaps between the icons and their attached usernames and codes etc. I also made the back landscape to have it represent the simplest format again, the front has to be a portrait because I am a portraitist and so it wouldn’t make sense to crop my work to only show the eyes or some other focused section of the image when I do these highly detailed and worked over images, it wouldn’t allow the art to speak for itself, which is such an important part of my outcomes as I’ve mentioned before. I also removed the titling and captioning from the piece just to clean the image up for the card, almost to make the front look like the cover of a book or manga, as evidenced here:

These intro pages are synonymous with summarising the story in one page, without giving away all the story beats and twists, they read as blurbs and prefaces without much needed to give the audience an idea as to the tone of the story, while bordering said stories to treat this page as very a cover and icon of the story, but not as part of the whole story itself. 

The only changes that need to be made now are about making sure my designs don’t go over their bleeding edge, and that their physical version hold up when finally sent to me, I should be getting over 200 cards so the hope is that none of them are printed out of sorts, but they need to be printed now to stop myself from overlooking them, and especially if there are any problems in the future with weird printing problems or issues of postage and card quality etc.
