I’ve now officially written the beginning and the ending to my book! Now to fill in about a decade worth of life and I’ve never felt more inspired to tell this story. I’m so excited at the thought of sharing this someday with the world.

I wrote this thing complaining about some Krusie shippers tendency to misgender Kris ages ago, after seeing something really annoying and shitty on the Krusie discord.

To be honest, as much as I love Krusie, I can only really like it anymore unless Kris is portrayed as explicity non-binary.

Like when people use they/them pronouns for Kris, give them an enby flag pin or even make a little caption on their post saying krusie's gay or something, i'm just like!!! hell yeah! But like when there isnt those little gender signifers for Kris, I kinda feel the need to through their blog to check that the poster actually accepts Kris as non-binary.

Because looking at the Krusie posts made by people who think Kris is a boy, they're often really OOC, with Kris being a stereotypical boring self insert straight guy and Susie being a stereotypical uwu blushy tsundere or it's weirdly sexualized (they're teenagers, guys) or it bashes Noelle (often in quite a lesbophobic way) or Kris is portrayed as super masculine and Susie is portrayed as hyper feminine in a way that evidently neither of them are in canon.

Of course I'm opposed on a more technical level too, Krusie just can't simply be straight, because Kris just is not and can not be a boy, but there's every other shit thing that comes with it just to add to the stupidity, and now I can't trust any Krusie fic or art unless I unambiguously know the creator portrays Krusie as queer.

Because the thing is the queer Krusie is not only near on always properly respectful and actually in character, it's funny and plausible and cute and shows that they actually have real chemistry and work well together (platonically or romantically of course) when portrayed as they really are in canon, dumb rebellious adorable teen gremlins that would probably see committing petty crimes and eating moss together as the height of romance. Not to mention that it's always hard to tell if Kris is crushing on Susie or just thinks really highly of her but like we do know Susie literally seems to be Kris's favourite person in the world right now (And honestly quite a bit of Krusie content portrays it as something that toes the line between platonic and romantic, which is especially cool) and it just pains me that the actual, queer, canonical Krusie is often really really good but it's just always overshowed by the absolute trashfire dungheap that is Straight Krusie(tm).

Her name is inspired by Sophie's sister from Howl's Moving Castle. Their dream is to move out to the country in Ravenwood, start growing their own produce, and open a bistro!

I've been having a ton of fun playing with her and using minimal custom content. Will probably continue posting their adventures while I clean out my main mods folder. ☕️

Re-listened to the whole first season yesterday (because I’m chill and normal about my interests) and wow is Phineas the perfect example of how toxic masculinity completely changes a person.

In his introduction, Phineas does exactly what he needs to in order to get the job done. He doesn’t use excessive force, and is able to solve the problem without anyone getting hurt. In any other world, this would be impressive.

Spahr is proud of him, but reminds him to play it up more for the media. Okay, noted, he’ll do better next time. He did exactly what was asked of him, just not in a manner that makes The Trust sound badass and cool to the kids listening back home.

He doesn’t break even — sucks, but no time to be sad about it! Here’s Backpack with her microphone! Look on the goddamn bright side, Phineas!! He still feels his feelings, but does way more than he should to cover them up around other people.

The gala goes well for him, a much needed confidence boost; he takes pride in not accepting handouts. But he doesn’t just say “no thank you,” like episode 3 Phineas might have, he’s offended that Mr. Loxlee expected he would want his help. That would make him weak. Mr. Loxlee clearly just doesn’t get it. This righteous reaction to turning Mr. Loxlee down says more than I realized at first about The Trust’s propaganda that Phin’s been consuming literally since childhood.

Then Spahr basically tells him to stop having social anxiety. Phineas has been feeling so many emotions, asking himself so many questions, trying to put on the Starship Troopers G.I. Joe face this entire time — looking for the answer. Looking for a guiding light to tell him how to be who he’s been told he’s supposed to be. And what answer does Jonas Spahr give to sweet, mild-mannered Phineas Thatch?

Don’t show weakness.

Or else he’s out. Last warning. Is it really that surprising Phineas lashed out against Sherman the way he did?

Spahr is certainly surprised — woah, this is not what he meant. But regardless of his intentions, this is what he fostered. This ruthlessness. This cruelty. This Adsecla who Phineas never would’ve seen himself as back in episode three. “An impulsive fucking idiot.”

“Phineas sees Jonas Spahr. But Jonas Spahr does not see Phineas.”

In more ways than one.

And after finally doing as he was told (to the best of his understanding), Phineas’ mentor, his hero abandons him. He didn’t want to, he never meant for it to go this far. But Phin doesn’t know that.

And now here he is, chewed up and spat out by the system he was born into. After following all the rules, he has become one of the indebted former trustees he was tasked to hunt, with no hope of ever getting back to where he was — let alone breaking even.

This is what propaganda does. This is what toxic masculinity does. This is what a cult does. And it doesn’t happen in a way you can easily see, it slowly simmers until it boils over into something unrecognizably sharp.

Oh, Phineas. I’m rooting for you, buddy.

It's not super long but it's super fun, musical, rhythmic and very cute

I said I was gonna talk about the characters from my upcoming project! Let's get to it then.

First up is Alex Palletson, our main protagonist. Alex is an artist like his father, hailing from the small town on the island of Del'Arte.
