thinking about the topic of un-earned deaths in media and van palmer is another example of this i think. though their death was Almost There but not quite. having them die at the hands of melissa instead of at the hands of something truly inescapable like their cancer was a huge miss for me. having them die to bring the real love of their life back though was the best part of it, and i think we could've kept that and added even more emotional damage with van succumbing to their cancer. add onto that, tai being forced to accept what she can't change. van's death was inevitable and no amount of "sacrifice" would change that.
