hellcheer au: Eddie as a magician that might have real magic powers

oooh interesting! okay:

I'm thinking actually a modern AU (or maybe canon-era AU) where Eddie's always had an unexplainable affinity for sleight of hand tricks (like sometimes he's not even sure how he pulls it off) and he uses it to show off a little but also to win bets and card games.

Maybe he's made something of a name for himself as a performer who will actually steal your socks (after he blows them off, of course) but he also bets the bigger fish in the audience all the money in their wallet that, by the end of the game, without touching them, he'll have their wallets in his possession. (this is one of the tricks he's not sure how he pulls off, but the wallet always ends up in his vest pocket.)

One day he gets in it with some shady dealer who has way too much money on him. Eddie ofc never knows how much money he's going to end up with after these tricks, he can just tell who has the most. Plus, the dude's date is, like, way too hot. And though he wins, fair and square, the guy and his goons try to corner him after the show to take it back.

The aforementioned arm candy of the shady dealer is a hired date (just a date, nothing more) and she realizes what's going to happen. Watching from the distance, all these guys converge on the poor magician, and he manages to catch her eye after a few punches to the face. Suddenly, an inexplicable power bursts from him, sending all the guys to their backs. Unconscious.

Before he can say or do anything, the girl walks up and says, "I knew you had potential, and I've been watching you, but it's impossible to get an invitation to your show without knowing someone. Come with me, you have so much to learn." Eddie's like wtf who are you? And she smiles and says, "My name is Chrissy. You and I are mages."

BONUS ALTERNATIVE: everything happens as I listed it except Chrissy isn't present for the show, Eddie's freaked out by his own power and starts researching magic at a little metaphysical/esoteric shop owned by Chrissy and she immediately clocks him for what he is.
