now seems as good of a time as ever to tell the internet about "vanilla extract friends," which is a phrase I made up to describe friends who are great but only in small doses and certain contexts.
like, that friend who you can talk to about a specific fandom you're both in and absolutely nothing else.
that friend you can go out to lunch with maybe once a month and have a great time but any more and it's just Too Much.
that friend who's helped you through some really difficult emotional shit but whom you can never, ever discuss politics with without having it end in tears.
vanilla extract friends!

i cant understand people who wouldnt want to keep their own extracted teeth. do you realize how few opportunities you will have in your entire lifetime to hold a bone that your body generated in your own two hands? and you'd abandon them without a second thought?

I am not going to say TLT is about fossil fuels because it's about a lot of things and it's reductive to boil it down to anything, but a society fueled by necromancy/death magic/corpses is reminiscent of our society fueled by and built with petrochemicals (oil, natural gas, plastic), and given that within the necromancy framework the role of the cavalier is to be metaphorically, literally, and/or spiritually consumed, it's interesting that the first cavalier was the planet Earth. This new world is still based on devouring the planet.
Does this make Paul a metaphor for nuclear fusion I'm joking but I suppose the question Alecto must resolve is whether we can escape needing to consume to survive.* And maybe we can't - stop trying to make your carnivorous pets vegan - but can we find a method of consumption that's less destructive?
(Some people may see Paul as that answer but I am a Hater who isn't into ego death.)

I don’t like when people ask how many books you plan to read/have read this year one because I think that’s a weird relationship to have to books and two because I think even reading a chapter or a portion of something is valuable. this is especially true with non-fiction but even with fiction I think any amount you read, even if you don’t read the entire thing, is not a failure or ‘incomplete’

No I may need not. That's just you withholding functionality to punish me for not allowing you to track my activity across websites. There isn't anything remotely necessary about it.

can’t stop thinking about how Angel got his gold tooth. i’ve seen some people say that maybe it’s a crown he was sweettalked into having put on by Val before he ever even signed the contract, or that it was forcefully put on after the fact— or that it’s not even a crown at all, and Val forced an extraction to make sure a piece of Angel was always missing and a piece of val was always there. a physical, visual, off-camera part of Angel- and Anthony- that Val will always have control and power over, something that he’ll have to see even when the marks and bruises fade. a different kind of branding. and that sounds fucking horrific.

I felt the need to create this masterpiece:
Erasing Goncharov’s head was very reminiscent of that scene and I was laughing way too hard doing it.
