My homework/study station for today. Still working on this sea turtle biology and behavior report for the first part of my rehabilitation protocol mapping. It's mainly just compiling the notes into a document now and it's tedious but not horrible.

I'll be working on fish alleles and migration patterns next. I'd like to have all this work done by tomorrow evening so I have to hustle, but my brain is feeling a little today. I might hit the gym briefly to revv myself up a bit.

New term starts today: ecology & evolution lab and sea turtle rehabilitation. I'm actually really excited for these classes, especially the turtle one. I've glanced through the assignments and both seem quite interesting and engaging.

I worked today and I've officially been set as the aquatics technician, which I'm thrilled about. Fish are such a passion of mine and I love working closely with the little cuties. I spent a good portion of my day cleaning algae and doing large water changes on some of the big tanks and ponds. It's amazing how gross fish can be!

I'm home now and am about to cook some fettuccine pesto with mushrooms for me and the girlfriend. It's all gluten and dairy free and tastes FANTASTIC. The mushrooms were purchased from our local farmer's market; we snagged beech and maitake this time.

I started going to the gym today. Our complex has a nice little room with weights, treadmills, and a row machine so I thought it was high time to take advantage. I need to be doing the harder self-care so I can start feeling and moving better. I did only 30mins today but it felt amazing and I am really proud of myself. I'll go again tomorrow and try to get a routine built up now that my schedule has changed with the aquatics.

Black Futch Flag and Futch Symbol by thegenderthieves

Continuing to repost some of my friends' stuff from their terminated accounts so that it's more easily findable (with their permission ofc) All text is pasted straight from the original coining!

The futch version of my (thegenderthieves') black butch and black femme flags is done! It’s for all black futches, stems, etc! (yes i released this flag hours early because I love it too much)

The colours are inspired by the dyke flag (you don’t need to have reclaimed dyke to use this flag ofc!), and a variety of futch flags

Meaning:

Black - black history and black sapphic history

Light red/pink - lesbian and sapphic history, love of women and non-men, sapphic power

Fuscia - inclusivity of all sapphics, including trans, non-binary, mspec, aroacespec, and other sapphics

Light pink - futchness, unity, non-conformity

Brown - androgyny and neutrality in gender expression

Light brown - futchfluids, stems, and futches that lean towards butch or femme

Sun, moon, and labrys axe - the sun is associated with masculinity, and the moon femininity, representing androgyny, and the axe represents strength, liberation, and rebellion

A global effort to make genetic studies more diverse has led to a discovery about Parkinson's disease, a common brain disorder that can impair a person's ability to move and speak. A team that included scientists from Lagos, London and the U.S. found a previously unknown gene variant that can nearly quadruple the risk of Parkinson's for people of African ancestry. The finding, published in August in The Lancet Neurology, suggests that Parkinson's may work differently in people of African, rather than European, descent. It could eventually help scientists develop a treatment specifically for people with this particular gene variant.
