Re: zanpakuto
what about the zanpakuto that have more than one wielder at one (Toshiro)(diamond dust rebellion) also can zanpakuto die? are they forged from a dead, once-powerfull, hollow?
(for An Elephant Is Warm And Mushy)
... imagine zanpaktou as... Optional gut flora.
A human is it's own organism, and bacteria are their own organisms but both work a lot better together. All "souls" are composite organisms, really - you are not just yourself you are also made up of the influences of friends, teachers, books you've read, weird cultural phenomena etc.
The process of hollowfication is therefore a bit like suffering a major gastric disorder and losing a huge portion of your gut flora. Sure, you *can* live like that, but wow, it sucks. But nature abhors a vacuum, and a hollow hole is effectively waiting to be filled, and not just in the way most commonly found in Ao3 's explicit works section - hollows very literally accumulate smaller soul organisms and living fragments of other souls like walking spiritual magnets, which is kind of FUCKING ESSENTIAL to keeping the balance of souls between the planes :)
An asauchi (remember the pre-zanpaktou spirits?) is, essentially, a type of smaller soul or living fragment, but one that specializes in living in hosts that are relatively intact. If they attach to a living soul and/or a tool, it will manifest as a zanpaktou when that soul dies and moves on. If the soul is having a rough go of it, the asauchi starts getting desperate to keep its host alive, and can turn into an inner hollow. An inner hollow is not a bad thing, per se- it's VERY eager to keep you alive, after all. It's just willing to keep you alive at the expense of others, if necessary. So whether that inner hollow takes over or otherwise misbehaves is a matter of the host's self-control. The more desperate your situation, the harder it is to maintain that control.
Meanwhile, if things improve internally or externally, an inner hollow can transform into a regular asauchi or a zanpaktou if the host has a weapon, amd vice versa- a desperate enough zanpaktou can hollowfy.
You can also have more than one of these guys hanging out in your soul at once, like a pack of hopefully friendly remoras on a shark. The VISOREDS all have at least two- the zanpaktou they started with, and a fun new hollow that moved in when they nearly died during TBTP. Ichigo inherited a zanpaktou, a hollow AND a gob of divine cancerous tumor! Kyoraku Shunsui is hosting two zanpaktou- his own, and the Ise Clan treasure. Some zanpaktou are two souls acting as one, like Ukitake's (Ukitake is ALSO hosting more than one symbiotic soul- Mimihagi is more or less living in the same space as the twins or where Ukitake's theoretical inner hollow might live. Perhaps that's why Ukitake has been able to avoid hollowfication despite the extreme bullshit he endures...)
As for the lifespans of asauchi... It varies wildly. Some live long enough to be transferred from history to host, like the kuchiki clan's Senbonsakura. Others bond so closely to their wielder they die with them. Some follow the same cycle of reincarnation most souls do, others die and mange to become large enough to host others.
As for where they come from, the zanpaktou that most shinigami wield pass through the Royal Forge. The Royal Forge is what happened to the Soul King's stomach and part of his torso after he got dismembered- his stomach became an enormous hot and acidic chamber, and his chest... Well. Getting dismembered was not a great time for him, psychologically speaking, and now the Divine Hollow Hole draws asauchi spirits from all over- soul fragments, small spirits, ghosts that got a bit lost during reincarnation - and they stay in the pit, healing, growing, playing and sparring until they are ready to leave and be bonded to a weapon.
Not even Oetsu, the forge master knows all the details of this process. The spirits just seem to know when it's their time and what kind of weapon they will become. Sometimes it's a collaborative process between Oetsu and the asauchi, other times they kick in his door at 1am and go "HOW'S IT HANGING MOTHER FUCKER? JUST KIDDING, I DON'T GIVE A SHIT, I'M A SWORD MADE OF ACIDIC BLOOD."
"how does that even work?" Says Oetsu, pulling his shorts on.
"THE FUCK IF I KNOW, YOU'RE THE FORGE MASTER. CHOP CHOP BITCH."
Most of the resulting zanpaktou (an asauchi bonded to a weapon or tool) are carefully put aside and delivered to the shinigami academy where they will meet their wielders as students. Other, (more annoying) swords are tossed out the window to land where they will in the planes and meet whatever equally profoundly irritating bastard who can wield them.
...this may make more sense with pictures.

Okay, so I think I got it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shinigami - Have so much spiritual pressure that it can spread out and affect innocent bystanders if not kept in via a seal.
Quincies - Don't have enough spiritual pressure on their own for their powers to come to their full potential, so they have to "eat" some of the reishi around them to balance themselves out.
Hollowfication - Constantly need to devour more spiritual pressure or it eats its host to preserve its own existence. So far, only lieutenant and captain classes are able to provide the reiatsu it needs to sustain itself and grow together with the infected host.
Putting these three things together, it makes sense that Hollow reaitsu would be deadly to Quincies. Unlike powerful soul reapers who can provide for their inner hollow with the spiritual pressure battery they have pre-packed, a Quincy and Hollow mix up would constantly try to devour the other to maintain the body they have to share.
No clue why the Sternritters are using blood purity to hide scientific answers but-
Never mind. I answered my own question.

Ichigo and Rukia Spider-Verse AU
Tumblr media
I will add more sketches at a later date but it's very late rn. I'm really happy with how these came out, especially because I struggle a lot with the legs on full body.
Ichigo's S1 suit was supposed to have no red on because it's pre hollowfication. I didn't know what to name the second suit so I called it Arrancar Arc+. Also, he looks really stiff but it's Ichigo so I have an excuse :')
I originally wanted both of them to have a shihakusho style to their suits, but it didn't look anything like anything that would represent them. I may also change the black bit on Rukia's torso to be attached to her body, but we'll see.

so if Ōetsu knew the entire time that Aizen was a traitor and that Kisuke and Tessai were framed, which he would because he would know who arrived in the forest during the Hollowfication Incident in what order, and he can apparently just hear if not actually see what’s happening... then why did he never say anything?
for that matter, why didn’t he alert anyone that both Aizen and Kisuke had invented Hōgyoku? he would know they had from their movement patterns and chatter. Zero Division slots usually go to people who invent things. why weren’t Aizen and Kisuke singled out as troublemakers and “offered promotions” to Zero Division on the basis of their creation? easy way to keep them from ever being an issue in the first place. Soul Society loves pre-crime, just look at the Maggot’s Nest
here’s a different question: how does Ōetsu shave Shinigami souls for making asauchi?
and how do you know... that Aizen and Kisuke did invent the Hōgyoku?
it’s implied that Hollowfication research had been conducted for a long time before Aizen or Kisuke dipped their toes into it. Kaname, pursuing Aizen’s Hollowfication directives, essentially independently recreated the asauchi process with White. how do you know the Hōgyoku was not merely recreated by Aizen and Kisuke too?
we know that Shutara invented the shihakushō, but we’re never told that’s why she’s in Zero Division. her ability to weave Ōken seems much more important than that. likewise, we know that Ōetsu invented the asauchi, and thus the zanpakutō, but we’re never told that’s why he’s actually in Zero Division, it’s just his main thing
what if the thing that got him promoted up there was inventing the Hōgyoku, and that’s why it’s not considered impressive when someone else makes another one?

@hirako5hinji asked: ♡ [ ofc we need to know bc fellow visored!!! ]
Detailed Pre-Established Relationship Meme
Send me a  ♡  and I’ll bold what I want to see with our muses and italicize things I may be open to!
I want our muses to be: friends | ex-friends | rivals | rivals with sexual/romantic tension | enemies | enemies with sexual/romantic tension | lovers | ex-lovers | partners/coworkers | pen pals/internet friends | friends with benefits | soulmates
Our muses met: as children | as teenagers | as adults (TBTP Era) | just recently
(for friends) Our muses’ relationship is: stable | sickeningly sweet | the kind of close friendship that makes others jealous | falling apart | based on shared interests | based on circumstance (mutual trauma) | based on family ties | developing into something more  (romantic/sexual) | developing into something more (antagonistic) |  determined by fate
(for rivals) Our muses’ relationship is: awkward | fiery | friendly | petty | mostly for show | losing its spark | starting to develop into something more | one-sided, with hisaka considering Shinji a rival | one-sided, with your muse considering mine a rival | determined by fate
(for enemies) Our muses’ relationship is: dangerous to themselves | dangerous to others | based on family matters | based on professional matters | based on lies/misunderstandings | unpredictable | passionate | nothing personal at first, but changes with time | determined by fate
(for romance) Our muses’ relationship is: still  exciting and lively | stable | starting to feel awkward | in jeopardy |  romantic, but the sexual attraction is fading | sexual, but the romantic  attraction is fading | toxic and self-destructive | unrequited, with my  muse pining after yours | unrequited, with your muse pining after mine |  determined by fate
I don’t think Hisaka was familiar with Shinji prior to their hollowfication and exile - at most, he was aware that he was a Captain. Afterward their time in the human world I think they have a lot of time to get to know each other. Shinji is very different from his own captain, much less serious and ore keen on having fun, and Hisaka would definitely appreciate that. I imagine he feels quite left out at the beginning, being so unfamiliar with almost everyone, and the only seated officer to boot, he’s the runt of their little vizard pack, and I could see him being quite self conscious about that. Shinji gives me the sense that he’d be quite welcoming and warm - even when struggling with his own hollowfication he’s not the type to leave anyone behind. Trauma bonding is best bonding - a lot of shit comes out in hard times, and I don’t think them to be the exception.
I can see them bonding over trips to bars together. Hisaka is an excellent wingman and knows how to have a good party, and just generally tries to be a ray of optimism amongst their group. Hisaka would also be interested in getting some training tips (and just... other general life advice tbh) he doesn’t want to be a burden down the line, so he’ll work hard to keep up.

Vizard Ichigo vs Sage Naruto is a funny matchup cuz Sage Naruto's speed feats allow him to outbox any Ichigo form pre resurreccion but if Ichigo reaches that point Naruto can just stall while Ma & Pa prepare frog song and Zangetsu can't detect nature energy so once that lands the hollowfication releases and Ichigo just dies

with kensei being raised in an aristocratic, traditional family, what are his views on classism BEFORE and AFTER his exile? does he believe in it? knowing that he will need to marry well for his family, does he consciously or unconsciously 'filter' partners or individuals according to their 'rank' in life?
--- Pre-exile
Pre-exile, Kensei is relatively 'young', in his thinking, despite already being almost half a millennium old. Like he is still an adolescent, he follows his family's will, still eager to please them and fulfill the role that was set out for him. The traditions and routines of his family { and therefore of the Ninth and the Gotei 13 } are engrained in him. Habits are hard to break; he also has always been raised with the idea that the noble families and the thirteen divisions are good, and the Soul Society needs them both to keep running. He is of course aware that some have it better than others, but where that is concerned, Kensei very much believes in a meritocracy: those that have higher positions have them because they deserved them somehow. By being smarter, stronger, or simply more important than others. He would point at someone like Hiyori to be like 'well, she's from the Rukongai, and she became a lieutenant, so if you work hard enough, you can reach that potential as well', disregarding the fact that some residents of Rukon don't even have reiatsu, or not that much of it. In short: He does believe classism exists, but it is deserved.
{ Addendum: Tousen Kaname introduces him to the idea of classism more fully after he takes him on as his Fifth seat. They bond rather closely, and Kaname is well-versed in debate, debunking a lot of Kensei's preconceived ideas. However, all this is nullified once he is betrayed by him, and it takes him a long while to see these ideas of Tousen's as the valid reason why he was betrayed in the first place. }
--- Post-exile
It takes something as traumatic as a betrayal, hollowfication, & exile { and 'falling from grace' } to make him see the error of his ways. It made him realize how easy it is to lose that privileged position, and what little support the gotei and central 46 provide when something like that happens. Strangely enough, he does not equate his family to this system. He knows they are a part of the system, but because he loves them he finds it difficult not to see them as a separate entity. He still holds out a candle for them, and wants to do right by them. Which makes it difficult for him to break those old habits, despite his new knowledge about the kinks in the system. Post-exile, he finds himself craving a change for the entirety of the SS, however, he feels.. Rather powerless to do anything. Changing anything actually scares him. He does not want to change his life and his family's lives. He does not want to disadvantage them. He also still.. Very much cares what they think of him as the head of the family { especially now that he has come back half a monster }.
--- Marriage
This runs seamlessly from the last part. Yes. Kensei does filter people for marriage. And quite consciously, too. He will find himself thinking, looking at a woman, what his family might think of her as a wife. He does not go through this process when he observes men in this way, because 1) his family is not to know that he is attracted to men, and 2) he wouldn't marry a man anyway, so it does not matter if they have marriage-appropriate characteristics. For women, however, they must be aristocratic in some way, have quite a bit of reiatsu { for child-bearing }, and preferably be pretty as well as kind and accomplished. In Kensei's book, they do not have to be demure, or lesser-than-him, despite tradition. He prefers women with a backbone. He's been surrounded by them for a long time { Lisa, Mashiro, Hiyori }. Plus, he thinks she will need to be strong to run the family while under scrutiny of his relatives.
All in all this has the result that he rarely engages with women in something that goes beyond one or two trysts. Anything more serious and he would find it necessary to go over credentials.

An Introduction to my boy:
Tumblr media
Name: Meron Akuma
Age: 540
Species: Shinigami [Visored]
Occupation: Squad 11 - 3rd seat (Pre-Hollowfication), Wanted Criminal (Until after Aizen's defeat), External Contractor for the Gotei (Post Aizen's defeat)
Description: A male standing 5'11 tall, he has a decently muscular build, though not excessively so. He wears a low-cut black T-Shirt with a deep red leather jacket over it, alongside a pair of simple black Joggers and ankle-height boots with steel toe-caps made of a pale red leather. Most strikingly however is his deep red hair, tied loosely in a ponytail, somewhat covering a small pair of what look to be horns, a reflective black and sticking up just above the top of his head. His eyes are a gentle rose colour, and at his waist he carries a Tachi in a red sheathe decorated with small flecks of reflective glass embedded in its surface.
Sexuality: Bisexual, though it should be noted that he himself hasn't really got the vocabulary to identify that himself, so if asked it's likely he'd say something akin to "Some flavour o' gay."
Personality: Despite his rather intimidating appearance, Meron is a very laid back and relaxed person generally, being very casual in most situations (even to superiors, which can land him in hot-water sometimes). He basically never uses honourifics, again due to his casual nature, but also because of one belief he holds dear: "Respect is earned, not given freely, no matter your title or rank."
That being said: he's not rude or spiteful, generally being rather the opposite, doing his best to be kind and helpful to those me meets. He's quite protective of those he holds dear, and he also believes he has a moral obligation to help those who need it should he be able to. This us particularly true should someone be in danger, but also extends to those who are struggling with food security, housing, and other such issues.
It should be noted that someone who has truly gotten on his bad side, be that by hurting someone he holds dear or through other deplorable acts, is likely to incur his anger. While he does his best to keep himself in-check (and for the most part does a very good job) he can sometimes have issues with his anger, so should someone incur his wrath - they will know very quickly.
A brief history: While the exact circumstances of his birth are unknown, Meron is known to have spent his early life in an orphanage in Kusajishi, where he dealt with near-constant harassment from older children both for his horns (considered not only unusual, but a sign of corruption or evil by many) but also due to his habit of sticking up for other kids. The latter often got him into serious trouble, even in some cases leading to him being assaulted by adults. However, even after being seriously harmed, he recovered from his injuries rather quickly, even back then. As he grew older, his affinity for combat began to show, turning many of the beatdowns he'd endured as a child almost a complete 180 by the time he left the orphanage. It wasn't long after that - that he became something of a prominent figure locally, often helping citizens deal with loan sharks and other such violent criminals. While he was known for his durability and strength, it wasnt until he was saught out by a Shinigami trying to identify the source of an unusually high spiritual pressure that people in the area knew why.
This lead to his enrollment in the Shinigami Academy, where he quickly picked up the art of the blade as well as Hakuda, though he had little interest in Kidō and did struggle somewhat with Hohō. His skill with a sword and unnaturally high quickly got him picked up by the 11th devision with whom he did some smaller missions before graduating, and soon his graduation he quickly worked his way up the ranks. It was during this time that he ended up discovering his love for cooking, with the vast majority of his squadmates not knowing the first thing about making themselves a meal, he decided to pick up their slack in what spare time he had, and soon found that it was rather enjoyable.
It was also in his time with the 11th decision in which he finally gave himself a surname. "Akuma" was chosen specifically because of its meaning, the way he'd been mistreated as a child because of his horns.
Beyond that, his time in the Gotei was relatively standard compared to many people like him. He did make some friends, and after eventually becoming the 3rd seat for squad 11 he did garner some attention from his Captain, though he had no intention of challenging him. Aside from not wanting the responsibility of being a captain, he also knew better than to challange Kenpatchi Zaraki. Still, he was known relatively well among the Gotei as a powerful and hard working Shinigami.
That is, until the night of the Hollowfication incident, but I'm sure you can gather what happened there for yourself.
After that, he spends his time as the rest of the Visoreds did, eventually coming to assist in Fake Katakura Town where he tries (and very much fails) to take out Aizen, though not before having taken out numerous Gillians and assisting with the fight against Stark.
Its after Aizen's defeat, when the rest of the Visoreds return to their posts in the Gotei, that the next major change in his life occurs. While he cant say he holds a grudge against the Gotei, he (perhaps understandably) found that he wasnt able to just go back as if nothing had ever happened. Between having been hunted for so long, and realising the freedom he could have in the human world, he made a deal with the Gotei: he would continue to purify Hollows and Konso Wholes as a Shinigami would, but would do so as he encountered them in his own travels. With a Gigai that suppressed his spiritual power (just in-case) and a Soul Pager that would show him the locations of nearby Hollows, he set off into the world to explore and learn about humans, knowing that should things get bad back in Soul Society, one of the Visoreds would contact him.
At this point, I would go into the TYBW, but quite honestly it's been quite a while since I read the final arc, and while I remember the gist of things, I cant say my memory is perfect (or even that great tbh), so I'll update this section when I've re-read it (still re-reading the Soul Society arc atm).
Zampakuto Name: Gādian (Gaurdian)
Sealed description: A relatively standard Tachi with a black handle wrap and a golden Tsuba, pommel, and Habaki. Its blade is a pale metallic red, which he has used before to trick opponents into thinking the blade a greater threat than it is (implying it's in its Shikai release and such).
Shikai Release Command: Brace, Gādian!
Shikai Description: A large black spiked Pavaise with red highlights in its design and the point being a sharpened (albeit still very thin) blade.
Shikai abilities: Any kinetic energy that hits the flat of the shield is absorbed, stopping any physical attack that strikes its surface. This energy is stored within the Shikai, and is represented by the glow of the red markings on the shield's face. The greater the glow, the greater the amount of energy stored within the shield. While there is not a known limit on how much energy can be stored within Gādian at once, the glow of the markings can reach the point to which visibility is reduced to 0 for both Meron and his foes, so he generally tries not to let it reach that point.
He is also able to release energy stored within the shield in one of two ways: the first is through the spike, using the energy to increase the force of his blows or even to attack at medium range with bursts of raw kinetic energy. The second is a short-range pulse from the flat of the shield, serving as a sort of momentary force-field. During the TYBW, Meron spends time training with his Shikai to gain greater control over the energy after it has been released, being able to change its direction and such, if only to an extent.
When he seals his Zampakuto, any kinetic energy still within Gādian, the leftover energy is removed from its primary store and goes to the secondary store, which the Shikai cannot access.
Bankai name: Gādiankirā No Tani (Valley of the Gaurdian Killer)
Bankai description: A dueling shield of above average size with two hooked blades facing opposite ways on each "corner" and a large bladed spike on either end. The inside surface of the shield is translucent, though from the face it is opaque.
Bankai abilities: Aside from having a much larger surface area with which to absorb attacks, a greater lever with which to generate force, and the general boost to power that all Bankai grant - Gādiankirā No Tani allows Meron to tap into the Secondary Store of kinetic energy that the Shikai cannot, with the glow from the shield's markings being reduced significantly per unit energy. While the Bankai is active, the amount of energy within the secondary store rises, doubling every five seconds should no absorption or release take place during that time. Gādiankirā No Tani also allows Meron to release energy from its entire edge instead of only from the one point, allowing for a greater variety of angles of attack as well as a more versatile array of options for attacks. His post-TYBW control over released energy does also apply to his Bankai, though it does obviously occur on a larger scale.
Hollow mask: A bone white mask with the appearance of a western-style dragon's skull, with small black highlights. It also manifests around the outside of his horns almost as-if using them to anchor itself.
Hollowfication abilities: Once he had stablised, Meron ended up persuing the development of his Hollow abilities to a greater extent than most of the Visoreds. This means that while his mask-time is not the greatest of the group (1 hour) he did manage to tap just that little bit further into the use of Hollow techniques. His proficiency with the Cero is not to be dismissed, with him being able to launch them quickly as well as being able to fire them from his Zampakuto. He's particularly known for firing a Cero from the top of his shield, using it to propel himself forwards as he charges with the spike facing forwards. He has also managed to learn to use the Bala, though he isnt able to fire them as quickly after another as Hollows that can use the technique. He compensates for this in his use of them, using a burst of Kinetic energy from his Zampakuto to accelerate the blast far past it's normal limitations.
Kidow: During his time as a member of the Gotei, he largely ignored Kidow, preferring to use his Zampakuto and physical strength. However, during the time in which the Visoreds were wanted criminals, he was able to see great utility of Kidow thanks to Hachigen, peeking his curiosity in spellcasting. After approaching the ex-lieutenant of the Kidow Corps with about his curiosity, Hachi offered to assist him in learning to utilise it. As a result of this, his Kidow proficiency is at a level that would be acceptable for a Captain, though certainly not extraordinary. Out of the three schools, he's most proficient with Hadō, though he can use some low to mid level Bakudō.
Something else of note, he and Hachigen were worked together (with Meron mainly being one to test the other's theories) to create Shitsuyōna Chikara: a Kidow spell that burns through the caster's Reiatsu to increase their physical and sensory capabilities. This technique can be used with varying levels of potency, giving anything from a slight amplification to an utterly unprecedented burst of power, though both its potency and duration contribute to overall cost of use. Extensive use or use of its highest level can also put significant strain on the body, to the extent that the user will need to take a good few days to recover before engaging in any form of physical activity again. In terms of multipliers, the highest it has reached is a 10x multiplier, though it's possible that should someone more proficient with Kidow learn the technique (not including Hachigen, who likely wouldnt bother with such a risky technique, especially when it emphesises close combat) they might be able to push it further still.

For development asks, Do you have any personal hc's about Kisuke's time as a warden for the Maggot's nest? How he came about taking that position and why?
Tumblr media
[[ meme | character development asks ]]
Tumblr media
There’s a great deal about Urahara Kisuke’s tenure as Warden of the Maggot’s Nest that strikes me as ironic. To begin with, what exactly is the Maggot’s Nest?
Tumblr media
Essentially, a pre-crime detention center, you might call it; a containment unit run by the thought police for anyone powerful and uncooperative enough to challenge the authority of the Seireitei.
And that’s just it – Urahara Kisuke himself could fulfil both those requirements, if he were expressly shown to be uncooperative. His awareness of outlawed Hollowfication research and his development of the Hogyoku are evidence that he was always walking a thin legal line with his research, if not stepping over it regularly. It’s an interesting career choice, isn’t it, for such a subversive element like Urahara to be a tool of the police state? So… how did he get there?
We’re given very little information about Urahara Kisuke’s past career. There’s a shared headcanon with @nightbeat-cat the delves into this a bit, but what we know from canon is that he served as Warden of the Maggot’s Net while in Second Division under Captain Shihōin Yoruichi, and that prior to her joining the Gotei (when she was simply Sōshireikan of the Onmitsukidō), he had been serving in one of the Divisions.
Tumblr media
Given his long association with Yoruichi, it would make sense that once she brought the Onmitsukidō and the Second Division together under her leadership, she would have been the one to recruit Kisuke from whichever Division he had been serving. But why would she do that, and why would he accept?
One possibility is that it would demonstrate his performative cooperation with the state — lest he find himself incarcerated in the Maggot’s Nest. Another possibility is that he could make use of the position to aid in his ethically questionable research, either by having access to a ready supply of captive test subjects – or to introduce him to just the sort of folks he’d actually like to work with if and when conditions permitted it, as evidenced by his recruitment of both Kurotsuchi Mayuri and Akon after he left. There may have been others similarly recruited to the SRDI that we don’t know about. A third possibility is that he and Yoruichi had been plotting some sort of long-range plan to lead an insurrection themselves, for which they might use the residents in the facility either as a private army or a distraction – but this would be ascribing more subversion to both of them than is evidenced, so it’s a bit of a long shot. My take is that it’s some combination of the first two reasons, the second being more an opportunistic side-benefit of the first.
I’m sure that his position as Warden required him to walk a tightrope between keeping order and his compassionate core. I mean, considering the nature of the job…
Tumblr media
And as certain as I am that Kisuke possesses the resolve to carry out the work that the job required, I am equally convinced that he finds unnecessary murder and torture distasteful and avoided it whenever there was an alternative; an iron fist in a velvet glove is more his style. @specialsupervision-blog wrote an excellent headcanon about this that I’ll simply reference here.  Thus he was generally able to convince prisoners it was in their best interest to cooperate, and maintained order during his tenure by cultivating a sublime wu wei.

A lower noble clan living in the seireitei with the kind of wealth that attracts. Were they on the financial level of a clan like the Kuchiki’s? No, but they certainly never wanted for anything.
Once Rose left home, his financial status has wavered between poverty to disgusting levels of wealth. As a pre exile captain, he was comfortable and during his exile his finances could go from anything to utterly impoverished to surviving depending on how available work was. Once he returned, however  he wound up extremely well off.  Some credit to @behindthestrings is due here as this is something we determined for a ship verse a few years ago. We decided that some kind of compensation was probably due to the viazard after being wrongfully exile and that central 46 felt obligated to pay due to the lack of other candidates for captain. A lump sum of money and a century’s worth of back pay was offered, leaving Rose very well off financially.
·         Were there any adverse situations, divorce, illness, alcoholism, drug problems?
Not really, or at least nothing massively catastrophic. The eldest son was never a well child and died as the equivalent of a teen when Rose was still an infant. Tragic, definitely, and something it took the family a while to recover from, although it should be mentioned Rose has no memories of this brother. He was far too young for the loss to be remembered, although he would have picked up on the grief of others and been aware something had happened despite his age.  Other than that family life was rather typical of that of a noble household with all the court intrigue, pomp and circumstance which comes with that.
I suppose if we’re going to be abstract about this, I guess we can class Rose’s hollowfication as an adverse event. It wasn’t the main reason  but certainly contributed to Rose’s estrangement from his family and some of his subsequent regrets.

They planned to go back and change the past, to have a better future.
They planned everything carefully, three masterminds, and a brute force.
They planned but everything went wrong.

He doesn't know why was he born into this world. His life has been nothing but pain, always feeling out of place and never in sync with his people and "friends", and once he became an exile, he really felt like there was nothing left for him in this life. That was until he met the God that would give meaning to his existence, and become his reason to fight. "Shiro", now Ichtalcoatl's warrior, feels like everything he has endured was for this moment, and he wouldn't exchange it for anything.
Except, all evil happens for a reason, and there are many truths to be uncovered from Shiro's past, giving meaning to this eternal karma and the never-ending cycle of pain. This is the tale of the final trial Shiro must endure to be worthy of the Sun itself.

Ichigo is special, he's always been. From the moment he managed to become a Soul reaper, to when he obtained unlikely powers and achieved inhuman deeds, he's always had that natural talent to go beyond the limits. However, his true strength lies not in his latent abilities, but in the charm he wasn't even aware he had. His ultimate power was not his bankai, nor his hollowfication; it was his power to move people's hearts, sway them towards him, and somehow make those who wanted to kill him become his most loyal allies. Or, instead of merely befriending everyone he fought, Ichigo unknowingly builds an army of people who will die for him and change destiny itself in order to protect their one, true king.

Main Pairings: None / Undecided
Additional Warnings: Teacher AU, DID, Alternating POVs, Supernatural Elements, No Shinigami AU
Ichigo moves to Karakura after an abrupt shift in career. There, he meets faces both familiar (his friend Chad is teaching music) and not (he doesn’t know what’s up with that Urahara guy but for a maths teacher he's not that bad). As the newest teacher in the school, and the least experienced at it, Ichigo decides not to make waves and to let himself fade into the background. Unfortunately, his friendship with the maths teacher seems to drag him into plots that are far outside of anything he’s ever known.
NOTE: I'm really flexible as far as the plot goes and willing to work with the artist if there are any particular elements they'd like to incorporate

“We've been childhood friends all this time. I think I would know when you aren't enjoying yourself with someone,” Shiro stated, tilting his head further into his palm to assess Ichigo's reaction.
“It's ... It's not going to be like that, okay? Maybe he'll turn out better than you think,” He countered, causing Shiro to sigh under his breath. The group had settled on blankets by the bay as the fireworks went off in the distance, the booms, cracks, and sparkles of them could be heard clearly. As they all watched, they got close to each other and kept warm on their shared blankets, friends, or couples, they didn’t care. Grimmjow and Ichigo, Chad and Orihime, Renji and Rukia, Mizuiro and Keigo shared their blankets as pairs, but Uryuu and Tatsuki had their own little spots on their blankets.
They had traveled to America for the school year as transfer students in South Texas and this was the first time that they had seen fireworks like this outside of the tv, and they were the best experience that they have had since being there, thus far. Grimmjow, Keigo, Rukia, and Renji were off in the distance cheering while their partners and friends smiled and watched them as the finale of the fireworks were going off on the boardwalk.
After the fireworks ended, they all picked up their blankets and bags of used small sparklers and party poppers that they had bought beforehand from the Kroger that was close to their host parents’ houses the day before.

send me a ⚡️and I’ll fill out for you/your muse:
my first impression of your muse: i love hiyori, she’s such an intriguing character to me, she really gives me the vibes that she’s way more than her outside attitude. + my love for underrated characters aaaamy first impression of you: you looked so nice & approachable and i was definitely drawn to how you portrayed her!!my favorite thing about your muse: where to start?? reading hiyori’s interactions with others is a true pleasure, i love your headcanons for her so much?? ♥my favorite thing about you: we haven’t talked really but i stand by my first impression, i love seeing you on my dash. ♥would I ever consider shipping our muses: tbh i don’t think they’d even work out with the whole y’know, stabbing thing & i have no idea if they’d actually match with the difference in their personalities and i’m also enjoying seeing hiyori x shinji too much, truly a lovable couplea plot I’d like to see between our muses: hiyori & gin meeting post-war after everything is revealed, i’m really interesting to see what her thoughts are (even if her first reaction is to try and kill him) and how she’s feeling about the whole thing. ~an AU I think would be interesting for our muses: pre-hollowfication interactions?? from what i can read (bless the wiki) they could have met during the time between gin’s position as a 3rd seat under aizen and when shit went down. I can definitely see gin getting on her nerves 8)

So, I was reading your Kaien analysis YORUICHI AND CO. & KAIEN (PART 1+2) -- and now I'm thoroughly fascinated by the idea that Kaien was the foil to Aizen. Outrageously powerful and gifted shinigami who had the power to move mountains and break worlds if given the opportunity. My question is: If Metastacia was created by Aizen, what if it was created specifically to kill Kaien himself because Aizen viewed him as too much of a threat, a sort of 'I will not suffer even an unknowing rival' thing?
And if Kaien had lived to the current timeline, do you think he could've fought the pre-Hogyoku Aizen to a standstill?
I've noted before that it was really Kaname who ran the Hollowfication program, with Aizen seemingly only checking in at important moments. So while it's certainly interesting to imagine Aizen used Metastacia to assassinate Kaien, it doesn't really make that much sense even if it's possible.
It was a really indirect and unpredictable sequence of events that led to Kaien dying from that encounter: Miyako (and her unit) getting attacked and killed, Kaien seeking the Hollow out, Rukia and Ukitake not intervening, and then him getting his powers sealed. There are a lot of points of failure for an assassination.
Aizen never really gives it much import, and Metastacia getting eaten by Aaroniero also suggests Metastacia was just a prototype. Given Aizen's response to White's "failure", we can also get the sense he wouldn't have been impressed that Metastacia-Kaien was defeated by Rukia.
Regarding Kaien himself, he wasn't initially that powerful. Ganju tells us his reii grade was only 6 upon induction into the Gotei 13, with Captains usually being 1–3, and Lieutenants being 4–5. To be fair, Kaien is also a "genius", completing the Academy in 2 years (as compared with Gin and Hitsugaya doing it in 1) and becoming a Lieutenant in 5 years. (In other words, Ukitake approaches him to do it in 1891, so he entered in 1886, and joined in 1884.)
So as he was, Kaien probably wasn't that strong... yet. However, as I've noted in that article "Yoruichi's Soul", it could be that the Shihōin are uniquely durable as a clan trait. If so, it'd seem the Shiba's clan trait is (as Ichigo most embodies) potential.
We know that Kūkaku is strong enough to give Harribel and Nelliel pause, Ganju gives Yumichika (who's basically Lieutenant level) a run for his money, Isshin knocks around Aizen, and Ichigo doesn't need any explanation. So, it'd make sense that Kaien could've become very powerful very quickly. But the same seems to be true of Isshin and Aizen wasn't interested in bumping him off just for the sake of it.
(I have a post somewhere where I half-jokingly suggest Aizen is a monarchist since he doesn't go after Yoruichi, Kūkaku, or Tokinada even when it'd be well to his benefit, and he goes out of his way to sic Gin on Rukia and Byakuya, so he would seem to have issues with attacking clan heads...)
I'd say it's a mixed bag ultimately, and when I supposed that I imagined it mostly as a moral opposition rather than a physical one.
Regarding an AU... possibly, since Isshin could, and it seems Yoruichi could've as well. Aizen without Kyouka Suigetsu was very strong, but not incomparably so (given he went out of his way not to fight Kenpachi and Yamamoto).

UraMayu Week 2019
Tumblr media
Monday 29th July - 4th August General Information
What is UraMayu Week?
A day/week-long even for posting fanworks to promote the Kurotsuchi Mayuri x Urahara Kisuke ship. No sign up is necessary, it’s just for fun, and everybody is welcome to participate!
Which types of fanworks would be accepted for this event?
Pretty much anything - fanfic, fanart, moodboards, gifsets, fanmixes, playlists, amvs - whatever strikes your fancy, as long as UraMayu is the main focus. Even headcanons and meta.
The pair can be written/depicted either romantically or platonically, pre-relationship or established - anything that involves the duo.
 Posting:
If you post on tumblr, tag your stuff with #UraMayu Day/Week or #UraMayu Day/Week 2019 in the first five tags, so the stuff can be reblogged to this blog! Feel free to shoot me an ask if I haven’t done it in a few days.
For those posting only on AO3, or also on AO3 as well as Tumblr, I’ll create a collection a little while before the event starts, and unlock it at the start of the event, so you’ll be able to add your things there. I’ll announce the opening of the collection here!
Additionally, here’s an invite to the Discord server for the ship, where we also have a channel just for the event, and where you can share a link to your work to get a bit more interest in it XD.
 Submissions:
If you have nerves or doubts about posting, and yet still want the thing to exist in the wide world, I’ll open submissions on this blog before the event, and you can send the thing in for me to post anonymously!
 Official Prompts and Themes
These are optional! It’s up to you whether or not you will make a work that includes all the day themes, or a separate fanwork for each theme, or a fanwork for just one prompt of the day. You also don’t have to make a fanwork for each day of the week - you can just make the one!
And, of course, you can just create whatever you feel like!
Monday 29: Day 1 - Parallel Realities / Body Swap / Role Reversal
The prompts for day one are all about changing who plays what roles. Perhaps, a body swap happens between Kisuke and Mayuri that leaves the whole Gotei changing their opinions about both of them. In a parallel reality, it ends up being Mayuri who gets framed for the Hollowfication - and perhaps Kisuke is the one who does it, trying to find ways to change Soul Society from the ground up.
 Tuesday 30: Day 2 - Scars / Handcuffs / Make-up
For the second day, we have prompts that describe both Kisuke’s and Mayuri’s physical appearance. These ones are more art oriented, but writers can of course write something about when Mayuri was still in prison, or a situation where Kisuke is the one with the cuffs, or a game of strip poker that devolves into bragging about scars.
Wednesday 31: Day 3 - Alternate First Meetings / Accidental or Arranged Marriage / Soulmates
This day’s prompts are more about relationships - platonic or romantic. Perhaps the first meeting between Kisuke and Mayuri is in the Academy - or, perhaps, they meet after the one hundred years of exile.
There are many places to take the accidental/arranged marriage trope - but, perhaps, there’s even more variations on soulmates. From platonic to romantic soulmates, there can be soulmarks, or shares senses, or abilities that only flourish in each other’s presence - or there might be a power lottery for every pair of soulmates, some sharing thoughts, some sharing power, and some - sharing injuries.
 Thursday 1: Day 4 - Fantasy Creatures / Daemons / Secret Agents & Assassins
A day of prompts that also works well for artists! Fantasy Creatures could be in crossovers, alternate settings like urban or high fantasy - or in an almost canon setting, where Kisuke and Mayuri are hiding their true natures by pretending to be shinigami.
Daemons - manifestations of Zanpakuto spirits? Perhaps shinigami only get them after they reach Shikai, or Bankai; perhaps they have them all the time, but can’t talk to them directly. Perhaps instead of swords, Shinigami fight with their daemons like personal pokemon.
Friday 2: Day 5 - "Usually I don't ask about why you show up covered in blood, but this time I think I have to make an exception." / "What did you do with my corpse?"
Create something based on these sentences, or including them!
Saturday 3: Day 6 - Monster, by Starset / Natural, by Imagine Dragons / Louder than Thunder, by The Devil Wears Prada
Musical inspiration - you can use these songs, or you can pick your own song to draw inspiration from!
 Sunday 4: Day 7 - Your Choice!
Any works that don’t fit the themes? Post them today!
 Have fun!

Dossier: Kimina Hisaka - Zanpakutō
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subject: Kimina Hisaka Status: Alive - Exiled ; Inaccessible Former Rank: 19th Seat ; Hachibantai Shikai: Hō-ōhime [鳳凰媛 - Phoenix Princess] Bankai: Registered as Unachieved ; Data Supports Competency: Average Potential: Unknown
Subject obeyed standard procedure in sealing one's zanpakutō when a member of the Gotei. Zanpakutō is an unadorned katana: length - 2.2 shaku (66.6cm), shinogi-zukuri blade shape, tsuba is circular steel with phoenix embellishment, tsuka is dark, tsuka-ito is light blue. Subject wears his zanpakutō on his left hip. There are no further identifying details.
Tumblr media
Pre-Exile Observations
Release Command: Yakiharau [焼き払う - burn down (to the ground); clear away by burning; reduce to ashes; burn off] Shikai: Type - Melee
Hō-ōhime inherits the form of a red yari pole-arm (spear, see recreational sketch below). It is a melee weapon with no noticeable kidō or [fire] elemental benefits despite the release call. Hō-ōhime is 7.6 shaku (230 cm) in total with a blade length of 1 shaku (30.3 cm), sansaho ("leaf shaped" or "bamboo leaf shaped") dual edged blade, and a shaft (nagaye) reinforced with metal rings (dogane) The subject is more competent in sōjutsu ('art of the spear') than in zanjutsu. The shikai further includes a pair of heavy metal armor shoulder pads and accompanying light armor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Post-Exile Observations
Inconsistencies of Note:
• Release Command has changed - name is unchanged • Shikai type has changed • Shikai form is unstable - release shape changes
Release Command: Yaki Tsukusu [焼き尽くす - burn completely; consume (by fire); burn to nothing; burn to the ground; reduce to ashes]
Shikai: Type - Kidō
Hō-ōhime no longer summons the armor shoulder pads. The weapon will occasionally appear in the same sansaho-yari form as observed in pre-exile, however the subject occasionally manifests the shikai in a second form (see below). This form is that of a wooden staff, approximately 2 meters long, with a club like head. The club is adorned with a ring with three ornaments dangling from it. In this form the Hō-ōhime possesses fire elemental abilities - enhancing the subjects own proficiency with kidō.
Tumblr media
It is unknown whether this second form is due to the change in release command for for some other reason. Reiatsu outputs do not suggest this form is a Bankai. No other variation is noted.
It has been proposed that this change in the subjects shikai is related to the introduction of Hollow reiatsu into the subjects soul.
As all other survivors of hollowfication were subject to a different experiment, this hypothesis cannot be discarded or accepted at this time due to a lack of data.
Tumblr media
Further Hypothesis
Notes recovered from Prisoner Aizen Sosuke's reveal that hollowfication test subjects with less than a fukutaicho's reiatsu supply suffer from soul-suicide upon the introduction of hollow reiatsu into a subjects system.
As a low ranking [19th] seated officer , the subject has not displayed such a supply of reiatsu (though reiatsu output has been observed to have increased drastically following exile). The following hypotheses have been proposed:
1) Subject has displayed a proficiency for kidō. Advance usage of unknown kidō has allowed the subject to survive or avoid soul suicide. - Discarded [Subject was never tapped for Kidō specialization or for recruitment into the Kidō Corps. Kidō is not more advanced than captain class, nor Prisoner Aizen Sosuke, who failed to identify a way to stabilize the soul following injection of hollow reiatsu.]
2) Subject has inherent ability (zanpakutō inherited?) permitting the survival or avoidance of soul suicide. - Data inconclusive. [Subject was not under close surveillance prior to exile. Insufficient data collected.]
